POETRY FOR YOUR MOON SIGN
â° my masterlist poems written by someone who has the same moon sign as you <3
âŸPISCESâœ
Edgar Allen Poe, A Dream Within a Dream
âTake this kiss upon the brow! / And, in parting from you now, / Thus much let me avow â / You are not wrong, who deem / That my days have been a dream; / Yet if hope has flown away / In a night, or in a day, / In a vision, or in none, / Is it therefore the less gone? / All that we see or seem / Is but a dream within a dream.â
June Jordan, You Came with Shells
âYou came with shells. And left them: / shells. / They lay beautiful on the table. / Now they lie on my desk / peculiar / extraordinary under 60 watts.â
Toni Morrison, It Comes Unadorned
âit comes / Unadorned / Like a phrase / Strong enough to cast a spell; / It comes / Unbidden, / Like the turn of sun through hills / Or stars in wheels of song. / The jeweled feet of women dance the earth. / Arousing it to spring. / Shoulders broad as a road bend to share the weight of years. / Profiles breach the distance and lean / Toward an ordinary kiss. / Bliss. / it comes naked into the world like a charm.â
âŸAQUARIUSâœ
W.B Yeats, A Coat
âI made my song a coat / Covered with embroideries / Out of old mythologies / From heel to throat; / But the fools caught it, / Wore it in the worldâs eyes / As though theyâd wrought it. / Song, let them take it / For thereâs more enterprise / In walking naked.â
W.B Yeats, The Lover Tells of the Roses in His Heart
âAll things uncomely and broken, all things worn out and old, / The cry of a child by the roadway, the creak of a lumbering cart, / The heavy steps of the ploughman, splashing the wintry mould, / Are wronging your image that blossoms a rose in the deeps of my heart. / The wrong of unshapely things is a wrong too great to be told; I hunger to build them anew and sit on a green knoll apart, / With the earth and the sky and the water, re-made, like a casket of gold / For my dreams of your image that blossoms a rose in the deeps of my heart.â
Louisa May Alcott, The Lay of a Golden Goose
âOh! Be not rash,â her father said, / A mild Socratic bird; / Her mother begged her not to stray / With many a warning word. / But little goosey was perverse / And eagerly did cry, / âIâve got a lovely pair of wings, / Of course I Ought to fly.â
âŸCAPRICORNâœ
John Milton, Sonnet 19
âWhen I consider how my light is spent, / Ere half my days, in this dark world and wide, / And that one talent which is death to hide / Lodged with me useless, through my soul more bent / To serve therewith my Maker,â
Jala al-Din Rumi, The Guest House
âThis being human is a guest house. / Every morning a new arrival. / A joy, a depression, a meanness, / some momentary awareness comes / As an unexpected visitor. / Welcome and entertain them all! / Even if theyâre a crowd of sorrows, / who violently sweep your house / empty of its furniture, / still treat each guest honorably. / He may be clearing you out / for some new delight. / The dark thought, the shame, the malice, / meet them at the door laughing, / and invite them in. / Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent / as a guide from beyond.â
Gwendolyn Brooks, a song in the front yard
âIâve stayed in the front yard all my life. / I want a peek at the back / Where itâs rough and untended and hungry weed / grows. / A girl gets sick of a rose.â
âŸSAGITTARIUSâœ
Lewis Carroll, A Boat Beneath a Sunny Sky
âIn a Wonderland they lie, / Dreaming as the days go by, / Dreaming as the summers die: / Ever drifting down the stream â / Lingering in the golden gleam â / Life, what it is but a dream?â
Dante Alighieri, From âInfernoâ
âItâs the pain / of the people down there that empties my / face. / Itâs pity / that youâve mistaken for fear. / And itâs the long way / that pushes us now. / Letâs go.â
Victor Hugo, Tomorrow, At Dawn
âTomorrow, at dawn, at the hour when the countryside whitens, / I will set out. You see, I know that you wait for me. / I will go by the forest, I will go by the mountain. / I can no longer remain far from you. / I will walk with my eyes fixed on my thoughts, / Seeing nothing of outdoors, hearing no noise / Alone, unknown, my back curved, my hands crossed, / Sorrowed, and the day for me will be as night.â
âŸSCORPIOâœ
Sarojini Naid, Autumn Song
âLike a joy on the heart of a sorrow, / The sunset hangs on a cloud; / A golden storm of glittering sheaves, / Of fair and frail and fluttering leaves, / The wild wind blows in a cloud. / Hark to a voice that is calling / To my heart in the voice of the wind: / My heart is weary and sad and alone, / For its dreams like the fluttering leaves have gone, / And why should I stay behind?â
Shel Silverstein, Dreadful
âSomeone ate the baby. / Itâs absolutely clear / Someone ate the baby / âCause the baby isnât here. / Weâll give away her toys and clothes. / Weâll never have to wipe her nose. / Dad says, âThatâs the way it goes.â / Someone ate the baby.â
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Aftermath
âWhen the summer fields are mown, / When the birds are fledged and flown, / And the dry leaves strew the path; / With the falling of the snow, / With the cawing of the crow, / Once again the fields we mow / And gather in the aftermath.â
âŸLIBRAâœ
Maya Angelou, Caged Bird
âA free bird leaps / on the back of the wind / and floats downstream / till the current ends / and dips his wing / in the orange sun rays / and dares to claim the sky.â
Emily Dickinson, Good Morning â Midnight
âGood Morning â Midnight â / Iâm coming Home â / Day â got tired of Me â / How could I â of Him? / Sunshine was a sweet place â / I liked to stay â / But Morn â didnât want me â now â / So â Goodnight â Day!â
Elizabeth Barrett Browning, My Heart and I
âYou see weâre tired, my heart and I. / We dealt with books, we trusted men, / And in our own blood drenched the pen, / As is such colours could not fly. / We walked too straight for fortuneâs end, / We loved too true to keep a friend ; / At last weâre tired, my heart and I.â
âŸVIRGOâœ
Robert Hayden, Those Winter Sundays
âSundays too my father got up early / and put his clothes on in the blueback cold, / then with cracked hands that ached / from labor in the weekday weather made / banked fires blaze. No one ever thanked him. / Iâd wake and hear the cold splintering, breaking / When the rooms were warm, heâd call, / and slowly I would rise and dress, / fearing the chronic angers of that house, / Speaking indifferently to him , / who had driven out the cold / and polished my good shoes well. / What did I know, what did I know / of love's austere and lonely offices?â
Jack Kerouac, How to Meditate
âThinkingâs just like not thinking- / So I don't have to think / any / moreâ
William Faulkner, Study
âMuted dreams for them / for me / Bitter science. Exams are near / And my thoughts uncontrollably / Wander, and I cannot hear / The voice telling me that work I must, / For everything will be the same when Iâm dead / A thousand years. I wish I were a bust / All head.â
âŸLEOâœ
Walt Whitman, I sing the Body Electric
âI sing the body electric, / The armies of those I love engirth me and I engirth them,â
Oscar Wilde, The Ballad of Reading Gaol
âYet each man kills the thing he loves, / By each let this be heard, / Some do it with a bitter look, / Some with a flattering word, / The coward does it with a kiss, / The brave men with a sword!â
Ralph Waldo Emerson, Friendship
âA ruddy drop of manly blood / The surging sea outweighs, / The world uncertain comes and goes; / The lover rooted stays. / I fancied he was fled, â / And, after many a year, / Glowed unexhausted kindliness, / Like daily sunrise there. / My careful heart was free again, / O friend, my bosom said, / Through thee alone the sky is arched, / Through thee the rose is red; / All things through thee take nobler form, / And look beyond the earth, / The mill-round of our fate appears / A sun-path in thy worth. / Me too thy nobleness had taught / To master my despair; / The fountains of my hidden life / Are through thy friendship fair.â
âŸCANCERâœ
Shakespear, Sonnet 147
âMy love is as a fever, longing still / For that which longer nurseth the disease, / Feeding on that which doth preserve the ill,â
Robert Frost, Acquainted with the Night
âI have been one acquainted with the night. / I have walked out in rain â and back in rain. / I have outwalked the furthest city light. / I have looked down the saddest city lane. / I have passed by the watchman on his beat / And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain. / I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet / When far away an interrupted cry / Came over houses from another street, / But not to call me back or say good-bye; / And further still at an unearthly height, / One luminary clock against the sky / Proclaimed the time was neither wrong nor right. / I have been one acquainted with the night.â
William Blake, Auguries of innocence
âTo see a World in a Grain of Sand / And a Heaven in a wild flower / Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand / And eternity in an hourâ
âŸGEMINIâœ
Rudyard Kipling, Blue Roses
âHalf the world I wandered through, / Seeking where such flowers grew. / Half the world unto my quest / Answered me with laugh and jest. / Home I came at wintertide, / But my silly love had died / Seeking with her latest breath / Roses from the arms of Death.â
John Keats, To Sleep
âSave me from curious Conscience, that still lords / Its strength for darkness, burrowing like a mole; / Turn the key deftly into the oiled wards, / And seal the hushed Casket of my soul.â
Lord Tennyson, The Eagle
âHe clasps the crag with crooked hands; Close to the sun in lonely lands, / Ringâd with the azure world, he stands. / The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls; / He watches from his mountain walls, / And like thunderbolt he falls.â
âŸTAURUSâœ
John Donne, Air and Angels
âTwice or thrice had I lovâd thee, / Before I knew thy face or name; / So in a voice, so in a shapeless flame / Angels affects us oft, and worshippâd be;â
Audre Lorde, Recreation
âmy body / writes into your flesh / the poem / you make of me. / Touching you I catch midnight / as moon fires set in my throat / I love you flesh into blossom / I made you / and take you made / into me.â
Margaret Walker, Lineage
âMy grandmothers were strong. / They followed plows and bent to toil. / They moved through fields sowing seed. / They touched earth and grain grew. / They were full of sturdiness and singing. / My grandmothers were strong. / My grandmothers are full of memories / Smelling of soap and onions and wet clay / With veins rolling roughly over quick hands / They have many clean words to say. / My grandmothers were strong. / Why am I not as they?â
âŸARIESâœ
E.E Cummings, Love is more thicker than forget
âlove is more thicker than forget / more thinner than recall / more seldom than a wave is wet / more frequent than to failâ
Mark Twain, Genius
âBut above all things, / to deftly throw the incoherent ravings of insanity into verse / and then rush off and get booming drunk, / is the surest of all the different signs / of genius.â
Paul Laurence Dunbar, Ships that Pass in the Night
âOut in the sky the great dark clouds are massing; / I look far out into the pregnant night, / Where I can hear a solemn booming gun / And I catch the gleaming of a random light, / That tells me that the ship I seek is passing, passing.â

hello !!! i was just wondering if you think there are any other bands peter would like besides nirvana, pink floyd, and rush ?? he gives me classic rock (& just rock in general) vibes tbh !!
anon you just opened up a can of worms !!
i once did extensive research into this. way more than anyone should for a character way past his relevance. and i'm still discovering new tunes i think he'd be into all the time !! i'll try not make this long winded (it will be). but for now...
đ¶đŸ peter maximoff's (potential) favorite tunes đŸđ¶
we already know pink floyd, rush, and nirvana are included. they're shown through the shirts he wears !!
rush is a major one. because unlike the other two, apocalypse era peter has rush all around him !! the rush posters in his basement. the leg cast with "i luv rush." it's safe to say he's kind of a rush fanboy (and he's so real for that because rush is rad as hell).
i have a list of bands/artists i can confirm he canonically likes, as they've been referenced before. whether it be through background clues (posters, background music, etc), or because they were explicitly mentioned by people involved in making the films.
đ¶ yardbirds đ¶ the doors đ¶ led zeppelin đ¶ buffalo springfield đ¶ alice cooper đ¶ jim croce đ¶ neil diamond
and while we know he listens to eurythmics (sweet dreams), i don't necessarily include them as a band. just because i personally feel this has less to do with the artist, and more about whatever was mainstream in 1983 (but you can choose to include them if you want !! after all, people mostly listened to whole albums back then).
peter definitely enjoys rock overall. but he doesn't seem averse to mainstream pop either. so we can probably assume he'll listen to anything, as long as it's catchy !!
here's some bands/artists we can assume he likes based on what we already know:
đ¶ jimi hendrix đ¶ cream đ¶ the beatles đ¶ fleetwood mac đ¶ queen đ¶ david bowie đ¶ tom petty đ¶ ac/dc đ¶ bon jovi đ¶ journey đ¶ guns n roses đ¶ the eagles đ¶ joan jett & the blackhearts đ¶ deff leppard đ¶ tears for fears đ¶ michael jackson
and if there's some other classics i missed (from the 60's/70's/80's) you think he might like - please feel free to drop me an ask !! i'd love to add more to the list !!
lastly, i'm gonna drop some bands/artists i personally like to think he might listen to. mostly because it's fun to imagine so:
đ¶ iggy pop đ¶ bee gees đ¶ thin lizzy đ¶ toto đ¶ a flock of seagulls đ¶ elton john đ¶ u2 đ¶ redbone đ¶ madonna (i 100% believe it, you can't convince me otherwise) đ¶ pearl jam đ¶ radiohead đ¶ red hot chili peppers đ¶ green day đ¶ my chemical romance ïżœïżœïżœïżœ beastie boys đ¶ smash mouth đ¶ nickelback (fight me, i dare you)
if you're looking for any specific songs, there's a really awesome playlist i listen to religiously. chai_vibes's "songs peter maximoff would unironically listen to" is so peak !! and i'll go ahead and drop my own peter maximoff playlist too, just because i worked really hard on it !! lol
happy listening !! thanks for hearin' me out !!

From Hedwig to Helperbot: Darren Criss Looks Back on His Stage Journey
Itâs nap time for Darren Crissâs newborn son, Brother, when the Glee star hops on our video chat. The cameraâs off, but he quickly turns it on to say hello face-to-face dressed in workout clothes â a green sleeveless top and a ball cap â as he tries to do some chores at the same time.
Criss has a limited window at home as he prepares to star in the new musical Maybe Happy Ending, now playing at Broadwayâs Belasco Theatre. The story, with book, music, and lyrics by Will Aronson and Hue Park, takes place 100 years in the future in Seoul, South Korea. Criss plays Oliver, an obsolete Belperbot along the lines of Siri or Google, âexcept more human-like, who is definitely past his prime and has been just waiting [in a Helperbot retirement facility] for his owner to pick him up,â Criss describes to Broadway Direct of the role. He stars opposite rising star Helen J Shen, who plays Oliverâs retired Helperbot neighbor. âIt almost feels like two people in an old-folksâ home trying to connect with a family member.â
The plot sounds dramatic, but âmake no mistake: This is a musical. Itâs a musical comedy,â says Criss. âIt has a lot of heart and a lot of joy and a lot of humor and amazing music, and itâs a hell of a spectacle.â
His friend Michael Arden, who won a Tony Award for his direction of Parade, was a big reason for Criss to sign on to the project â and serve as an executive producer as well. Arden brought the show to Crissâs attention many years ago, and again recently when Criss was starring in Little Shop of Horrors Off-Broadway.
âThis had been kind of percolating for a while, and between the pandemic and strikes and just a lot of other things, that really comes down to timing. So the stars just kind of aligned,â Criss says.
Criss, a figure on Broadway for well over a decade, started to gather a following while at University of Michigan as a founding member of Team StarKid, the student-run theater company behind the viral Harry Potter musical parody A Very Potter Musical. His big break came on the hit Fox TV show Glee back in 2010. The show had already aired for a full season before he was cast as Warbler Blaine Anderson and future love interest to Chris Colferâs Kurt Hummel. If not for Glee, he believes his career would not have had the same trajectory.
âI felt like this was my masterâs in performance of music on camera,â Criss says, admitting that, until Glee, he didnât consider himself a singer â rather, a musician who acted. âI have that show to thank for giving me any headway in the musical-theater space.â
In the middle of filming Glee in 2012, his Broadway debut called. Criss was asked to succeed Daniel Radcliffe in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying for three weeks during a winter break from filming Glee. âI left on, like, a Friday night from my last day of shooting. I started rehearsal on a Saturday. Within 10 days, I was on a Broadway stage. I left my Sunday matinee, got on the plane, and went to work [at Glee] Monday morning as if nothing had happened. So it was a bit of a fever dream. It goes by as quickly as it came, like all other moments in life.â
Three years later, Criss stepped into his next Broadway role. This time, he played Hedwig in Hedwig and the Angry Inch for about two and half months, succeeding John Cameron Mitchell. âPeople always ask me, âWhatâs your dream role?â Iâm like, âI kind of did it,ââ he says of the opportunity. âHedwig was a role I always loved so much when I was a teenager, and getting to jump into it was so special to me and my wife. We both love Hedwig so much. Itâs a big part of our relationship.â
More recently on Broadway, Criss starred in the play American Buffalo with Laurence Fishburne and Sam Rockwell in 2022 for a three-month limited run. âI completely idolized them,â he says of his scene partners. âI mean, if you see a pattern here, I recommend this to everybody, to just chase their heroes. Iâve just been chasing my heroes my whole life, and Iâm not being bashful about it at all.â
Getting Rachel Evan Wood to play Audrey opposite Crissâs Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors at the Westside Theatre earlier this year was something that he says was his idea.
âI pitched her pretty hard,â he said of getting casting directors to choose the Westworld actress as his costar. âWhen they heard her sing, I think it was very clear that this wasnât like a favor to anybody. She was doing us a favor. The fact that she said yes just blew my mind.â The role of the nerdy floral shop worker wasnât something Criss thought heâd get the opportunity to add to his rĂ©sumĂ© âbecause it just was never something that I thought anybody would let me do. ⊠I wasnât sprinting to that in the way that I was the other things in my life.â
Criss welcomed Brother, his second baby, this past June with his wife Mia. The timing couldnât be more coincidental, since their first, Bluesy, was born during his run of American Buffalo.
As our conversation comes to a close, Criss says he kind of got all of his chores done and haphazardly put things away and folded laundry. The next project he wants to pursue is his writing, something he hasnât tackled much in five years. Until then, heâs reveling in Maybe Happy Ending.
âI do find myself at a loss for words, trying to truly put into words how special this experience has been,â he adds. âI think it really is a thing of beauty that can really add quite a bit of ornamentation in perhaps a grim world.â

Many thanks to @janetm74 for her deeply moving and insightful story Grief: The Compass, and for putting up with my ramblings about the symbolism of Grandpa's compass and its meaning to Scott, as well as to Scott and Virgil going forward (especially after the revelations of Recharge). I had this little dream-like sequence in mind since the very early days of my return to TAG fandom as a intro to a larger story. Scott Tracy is, of course, very much not okay. It might not be obvious from the start, but it's true. He needs to find his way.

The wind was ruffling early blossoms in the trees and his hair, as he jogged eagerly across the front yard to the farmhouse. Soft spring grass was tickling his bare feet. Mom was inside, he knew. He was so excited to see her.
The quiet hallway was filled with a soothing scent of cinamon and ripe late summer apples. Mom was probably in the kitchen, baking an apple pie. His favorite. He followed the wiffs of delicious smells, but the kitchen was empty. Each utensil in its place, exactly as Mom liked it. He needed to find Mom. The sense of urgency increased, as he passed the sunlit kitchen to the backdoor, out onto the porch and across the backyard. He shivered once, then twice, as a gust of vicious wind threw a handful of fallen leaves into his face. Golden and red, just like Mom's hair. Mom wasn't out back either and he was anxious now. On instinct, he followed the well-worn path to the meadow, stretching behind their old farmhouse in Kansas. Rough edges of pebbles dug into his feet so they were probably bleeding, but he kept going. He needed to find Mom!
His frantic paces came to a halt at the very edge of the meadow, though. As far as eye could see was cast in a swathe of pristine white. Snow. He knew deep down in his soul Mom was across that expanse of white. But he had no clue which way to go. Where to start. He stood at a loss, shivering, at the very edge of ice, licking his bare toes, the freezing numbness creeping up from the ground to his heart.
Then he remembered! Grandpa's old compass that Virgil made a point to give him for the duration of a rescue, would show the way. Ever since their heart to heart in the Arctic, Virgil would give him the compass before each mission so he would find his way home safely. Just like that day. He was home now, but Mom wasn't there. He dug into a pocket, and, sure enough, his fingers curled around a solid cool weight of the antique gadget. Grandpa's compass would show him the way to Mom! But something odd was happening. As soon as he opened the lid, the arrow went haywire, turning in place, never resting on any one point. Despair and exhaustion nearly choked him and his knees were ready to give. He couldn't get to Mom no matter how much he longed to! No matter how much he missed her!
He was about ready to step into the unforgiving snow and take his chances, when heavy hands landed on his shoulders, pinning him in place.
"It's not yet time, Bluejay!"
The husky whisper was close to his ear. Dad!
"It's too soon, kiddo! You have to let me go first. You can then follow in my footsteps, but not just yet! Not for a long, long time. How about we go home now, son, eh?"
He wanted to protest. Mom was there, all alone, across the field of snow. He could find her, even if the stupid compass was not helping! He needed to be with Mom! But the voice failed him, caught up on a blinding pain in his chest. Strong arms were already steering him back to face the farmhouse again.
Even from afar, he could see all his brothers standing on the back porch, watching him. Allie seemed so scared, baby blue eyes wide and full of tears, clutching the railing. Gordon was standing apart, hunched over, his face dark and lost - he appeared so small and so young. John was ghostly pale, his eyes a green sea of pain. Scott could swear his ginger brother was swaying with each gust of wind. But it was Virgil who made him gasp. Standing one step down the porch stairs, his best friend was glaring daggers at him - the always soft face contorted with fury and anguish, kind brown eyes brimming with liquid fire. What made Virgil so angry? Had he done something stupid? He hadn't lost Grandpa's Compass! Right! The Compass! He looked down at his hand, still clutching the brass shell, and the arrow had miraculously settled, pointing due North. At the center of the porch of their home. At Virgil.
He felt an insistent nudge to start moving, as the voice by his ear spoke again, soft, but urgent.
"Let's go home now, Bluejay! Just like that, one step at a time! Your brothers are waiting."
He tried once more to twist and catch the sight of Dad, but thought better of it as a sharp pain pierced through his torso again. He still needed to make it home and give Virgil back the compass, so Virgil wouldn't be so angry with him. So Virgil wouldn't go looking for him all the way by the desolate cold white meadow. He also needed to find out what made John so upset, and he certainly needed to hug the Tinies. He sneaked a peek at the compass again - it was pointing firmly Home.

US: "Now we can get one thing straight, lad." *Sam says, leaning forward against the table, placing his elbows upon it and resting his chin in the steeple of his fingers* "The PEOPLE of this country have never fallen short of my dream. In groups, maybe even in a visible seeming majority but never in totality." "Even when slavery was the order of the day, not only were those slaves just as much part of my makeup as anyone else. There were also those who risked and paid everything to free them from bondage. Either along the underground railroad or marching toward Columbia dressed in muddy blue coats." *Sam hums a few bars of Battle Hymn of the Republic but what I think is actually meant to be John Brown's Body* "THAT is how I go on. Because my body...the body politic is not made up in whole or in largest part of those who direct their power through anger, bigotry and fear. MY body is formed most strongly from those who struggle under the boot of tyranny and who join themselves shoulder to shoulder to lift it." *He takes on a serious look* "Those who disappoint me, who fail the ideals of mine, of ours. They are neither as widespread or as powerful as they would like us all to think."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
US: "Oh good lordie you haven't told them" *He says, rubbing over his face with one hand, exasperated* Me: "I would never DREAM of stealing your "opportunity" to explain those men to them, sir" *I say with a broad, knowing grin* US: "Well thank-you-kindly." *He rolls his eyes* "The poor Spy Smasher, by god. I swear he got the worst of 'em. Alan Armstrong. He was as tough as nails and quick as a whip but its like the rats were just tossing all the wash outs at his feet. It was hardly fair." Me: "I think I know which one is the worst. Do you?" US: "Had to be that disgusting man they called 'Dr. Blizzard'. He could make cold and wind, alright, but only because he was stuck with some permanent head cold. Blowing his own ice cold snot around it was ungodly! I mean the mess and the germs alone!"
(An image of Dr. Blizzard taken from a 1942 propaganda comic) Me: "No, no it has to be "The Vulture". Tried to lead a zeppelin bombing raid on New York. In 1943! Like a free fireworks show! And they sent him out in a green cape, grey boiler suit and a cast iron beak strapped to his ugly mug!"
(The Vulture, also from a 1943 propaganda comic) US: *Smacks his forehead with the butt of his hand* "I FORGOT about that one. My god its like no one explained to that man the fact that zeppelins went out of fashion with the last war. Because now we had the chance to SHOOT DOWN massive bags full of explosive gas!"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
US: "Me, me and...me, in that order." *He says, leaning back from my phone where I showed him the question* Me: "I know the Brother Jonathan identity was probably you, but Columbia and Lady Liberty are both women. Or at least female presenting" US: *Rolls his eyes a bit, clicking his fingers and shifting first into a man in a black silk tophat and blue pin stripe pants. Then a large bodied woman in a golden helm and draped in an American flag. Then finally a woman who is a spitting image for the statue of liberty, first brown and then green in color before he shifts back to himself* "I'm not a human being. This body. *He motions to himself* "Is a projection. Its how I choose to shape the energy I'm made of. Or rather, how YOU choose to shape me." Me: "So all of those previous identities were...just how people saw you back then?" US: "Not even in different times. Sometimes just in different places. Brother Jonathan was just the image of New England. And if I hang around in the Big Apple too long I can catch myself turning green when I stop paying attention. I'm an idea, whatever looking glass people put me under is what I am in that place and time." Me: "So why has this one stuck?" US: *Straightens his lapels* "Once I became a "mystery man" during the big one. News reels, front page of the paper, propaganda posters. I had friends, colleagues, partners for the first time. It made me more visible as a single man, an individual image rather than a free floating idea. Plus, I think I look plum handsome." Me: "...Does that mean you could turn into a countryba-" US: "Son, do not finish that sentence." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
US: "Since the Freedom Fighters are stuck as mostly a legacy organization these days I'd try to limit myself to "recruiting" inside that category. So there's two that come to mind." Me: "I bet you 10 green back American bills I can guess." US: "Oh come on now, son, I'm not that predi-" Me: "Stargirl and Blue Beetle." US: *Stares agape at me for 15 uninterrupted seconds. Slowly reaching into his inner coat pocket and placing a 10 dollar bill in front of me* "How on EARTH did you know?" Me: "They're THE tip of the spear when it comes to the youngest generation of superheroes. Their personal popularity is always through the roof, they're tied for the most followers on basically any social media you could choose to name...plus, I think you'd shoot as much as you can for some diversity in the line up if you could get it." US: "Took the words out of my mouth. Those two are doing the good work out there and they're, mark my words, going to be the star quarterbacks of the next generation. If those Teen Titans, Beast Boy and Starfire were the first superheroes to fully start the social media wave, Stargirl and Blue Beetle have been riding it high. They...connect with people in a way I've never seen before. And yes, having a young lady like her and a respectable latino like him would make me right proud of any team. The good parts of the past guiding the best of the future."

I don't really watch the dc live action films but apparently they're gonna have Green Lantern again and Kyle Chandler was cast as Hal, was wondering what you thought about that??
iâm not personally familiar w his works and i canât have a full opinion until i see his hal acting, but for first impressions alone⊠i get the vision. heâs not my first choice, but apparently he wasnât their first choice either, and considering the other controversial names that were floating around (*cough* ryanreynolds *cough* joshbrolin), i can only sigh in relief that the role went to literally anyone else
visually, i would have to get used to the idea of him as hal, not bc theyâre portraying him as an older man this time (which should not be so contentious?? hal is old), but mostly bc heâs a real person and hal looks in my head like how i draw him âșïž also kyle chandler has incredibly distinct eyes that i donât associate w hal, but iâm excited to have my mind changed abt it if only for a single show
but like i said, i see the vision. i tried to watch some of his works to get a sense of his acting, and idk how theyâre going to write hal in this, but kyle def has the range to play charismatic characters as well as comedic ones, so iâm rly curious for how this will play out. if i had to nitpick, i think his voice is jarring for hal, but thatâs bc halâs voice is one of his most distinct and defining traits to me. i literally had a dream once that they made a new GL movie and the whole time i was trying to judge whether or not the the actorâs voice sounded enough like hal, so obviously i have my priorities straight lol
all in all, i like this casting so far! less psyched abt guyâs (he was my perfect hal voice T__T), but iâm excited to see how aaron pierre plays john! apparently it was between him and stephan james, but aaron had better chemistry w kyle, so maybe that means more john and hal interactions! also he was on the beach that makes you old, which has nothing to do w anything, but i just found out and it made me laugh so iâm sharing this information w you too
#i donât do fancasts so i donât actually have a âfirst choiceâ#iâm one of those basic bitches that understands why ppl compare hal to tomcruise all the time but i would never hire him for anything đ#danswers#green lantern#hal jordan#john stewert#dc#also iâm not gonna be too precious abt it bc comics are comics and live action is live action. dif standards#cautiously excited abt it tho. iâve been keeping the whole thing in my peripherals#i doubt iâll watch it when it comes out (my dc shows/movies list is too long and iâm on anime shit rn)#but depending on how itâs received i might come back for it#thanks for your curiosity! itâs nice putting all these thoughts somewhere#a first impression to compare to later

Lewisohn vs. Shepherd
I'm still at work on the whole Kim Bennett thing, but here's a quick Lewisohn vs. post to spice things up. Actually, the book from which I was cross-referencing was due at the library, so I started work on this, quickly realized the source was also readily availble online, but decided to finish it anyway.
The source at hand is Jean Shepherdâs October 28th, 1964 interview with the Beatles, published in the February 1965 issue of Playboy. You can find a transcribed version here or a scanned copy here. Itâs a great, quick read - seven pages sparkling with Beatles wit and a concerted effort by George to convince the interviewer he's in love with Ringo. Small tw for transphobia in the form of a tired pronoun joke at the expense of April Ashley.
Tune In pulls three quotes from Shepherd's interview. Two of them are below the cut - their are minor changes (one exceedingly minor) to those quotes, but the first quote I'll address is taken wildly out of context. It's not the most offensive distortion of history that Lewisohn has put forward, but its maddeningly blatant - and pointless.
Tune In 26-20 vs. Shepherd 1965, p.54
The quote of interest is highlighted in green, but I included the preceding paragraph because the context matters greatly here. The Beatles & Brian were down in the dumps, having struck out with every record company with any semblance of artistic merit. Lewisohn highlights that John and Paul in particular were down in the dumps, but that âtheir young friend George stayed optimistic. He rallied them, he showed them that while they might be thinking the worst, he was remaining hopeful.â His evidence for this is the quote highlighted in green, in which John says Brian and George knew they would make it big.
Well. Letâs check the source.
If you look at the quote, once again in green, itâs almost correctâLewisohn drops âour managerâ, but itâs close by Tune Inâs standards. Take a look at whatâs around the quote, and youâll see itâs taken wildly out of context. John isnât talking about Georgeâs confidence in the Beatles ability to score a record contract in 1962; he is unambiguously referring to Georgeâs confidence that the Beatles will succeed in America in 1964. And that confidence didnât stem from âthe Beatlesâ mantraâ that âSomethingâll turn upââGeorge thought theyâd be successful in the states because he was aware of their U.S. record sales.
The thing that gets me here is that itâs so unnecessary. As a historian writing for a general audience, the Beatles must be a dream: you have a core group of four complex, interesting, musically gifted people whose personal and artistic growth played out in the public eye, exhaustively documented. They were surrounded by a supporting cast of vibrant characters to root for or revile, who all played a role in a story brimming with friendship, romance, rivalry, wit, and tragedy. There's no reason to rewrite history for the Beatles - their story can be both factually correct and narratively compelling, yet Lewisohn joins a storied list of authors who have felt the need to gild the lily.
What does this add to the Beatles story? How does it benefit the narrative to portray George Harrison as a plucky kid from an afterschool special, cheering on his elders with unflagging optimism when things look bleak? Itâs trite, and itâs fake. It's not the Beatles.
This isnât the most earth-shattering act of historical revisionism Lewisohn has committed to print, but its brazenness is galling. In the introduction to Tune In, Lewisohn states, âIâve wanted a history of deep-level inquiry where the information is tested accurate, and free of airbrushing, embellishment and guesswork, written with an open mind and even hands, one that unfolds lives and events in context and without hindsight, the way they occurredâŠâ And yet we get this. He knowingly took this quote two years and a whole Atlantic Ocean out of context, and he had the audacity to tout his book as âtested accurate, and free of airbrushing, embellishment and guesswork.â
He's pissing on our feet and telling us it's raining, folks.
Tune In 29-4 vs. Shepherd 1965, p.56
An impressive number of little deletions and changes for such a small quote.
Tune In 33-1 vs. Shepherd 1965, p.54
This one almost isnât worth mentioning. The only change is the emphasis removed from Ringoâs âthemâ in the original quote.

FEMALE MOVIE/TV RECS (PART 9 / ADULT & FAMILY ANIMATION)
got inspired from a recommendation post so decided to make a list of movies and shows with female-centric stories/female protagonists. since i can't post all of the genres in one post, i'll split it into multiple posts and y'all can save or add to the list as you wish. (disclaimer: i have watched most of these, but i only know about the existence of others. not every movie/show on these lists will be my recommendation. my recommendations will be beneath the list with reasons. also some of these are way better than others in terms of storytelling/performance--which is why i'll list my faves separately):
Common Themes/Tropes:
-Woman/girl is OP and gets bullshit from other people for it
-Heroine tries desperately to fix the world
-Leaving home to go on adventures for the sake of a dream or doing the right thing
-Sisters are a lifeline
-Women/girls can literally do or be anything
-Violence is the only answer men will understand
-The world is so big, grand and beautiful and she wants to see more of it
-Girls being the conscience of an entire society
-Things going ham when she reaches Boss Level
-Magic (and violence) are good things, especially paired together
-A man (usually a father or guy friend) is the only conscience she has left
-F*ck marriage there's bigger problems TM
-I must save my father/sister
-Serious mommy issues
-Has an animal companion or IS the animal companion (robots also count as animal companions in terms of function imo)
-Making friends with the monster
OF WHICH ARE FOR ADULT AUDIENCES:
Pantheon
Scavenger's Reign
Blue Eye Samurai
Arcane: League of Legends
Trese
HAVEN'T WATCHED:
Pantheon
Lilo & Stitch
Fiona & Cake
Star Vs. The Forces of Evil
Trese
Princess Mononoke
Green Snake
The Breadwinner
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
Violet Evergarden
Barbie in The Diamond Castle
Monsters Vs Aliens
Epic
Finding Dory
Encanto
The Incredibles II
Tinkerbell: Legend of The Neverbeast
Brave
WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND:
Blue Eye Samurai (10/10) (super gritty, but the perfect revenge story, puts John Wick to shame)
Scavenger's Reign (8/10) (split story, but two of the main characters are women, and one is a black lesbian! fantastic animation, though don't watch if you're intensely trypophobic, it can be sci-fi horror)
Mulan (9/10) (one of the most perfect animated Disney classics)
Turning Red (8/10) (this movie remembered the tween era)
Tinkerbell (if you crave matriarchy, sisterhood, magic and female centric society and story, then you need to watch the Tinkerbell movies)
Wolfwalkers (7.5/10) (an anti-colonial, anti patriarchal, pro-pagan fantasy movie with beautiful animation and a very touching, female-centric story)
Arcane: League of Legends (10/10) (gorgeous animation, amazing writing, incredible performances, and don't get me started on the sisters that take centre stage--also, lesbianism and gender nonconformity!)
The Legend of Korra (8/10) (good writing, a badass protagonist, a fantastic cast of characters, beautiful scoring, beautiful animation, amazing action sequences)
PERSONAL NOTES
The Mitchells Vs The Machines is basically a drama between a lesbian girl and her dad who have to figure their relationship out while they're running from robots. It was full of heart and fun and had some good jokes in there. I'd definitely recommend it.
Raya & The Last Dragon is the first Disney movie with a gender non-conforming princess! It also has some of the best action sequences in any Disney animated movie, however it doesn't hold a candle to The Incredibles II, which stars Helen Parr as the main character of the film. It's one of my favourite films of all time because of how they depict Helen and the main villain of the story (a badass genius of a woman). Really pro-female films, even for all their flaws.
Abominable has some of the most gorgeous visuals I've seen outside of a Disney animation. The texturing and coloring is so vivid it makes my mouth water. It's far better than Over The Moon, but both have their own charm. Abominable and Home have very similar plots. Also, the girl in Home is voiced by Rihanna while Beyonce voices the queen of the faeries in Epic.
One movie that shares a similar theme (kindness to animals even if we don't understand them or they scare us) with Abominable is The Sea Beast. The Sea Beast is one of the best animations with a black female girl as a lead I've ever seen. There's also a badass black woman pirate. There are some scenes that could have been written (or colored) better, but I loved it either way. I think it was the first animated film to depict shrinkage for black hair! And it didn't lighten the skin or whiten the features of the black characters!
Many people view Frozen II and Brave as "almost" masterpieces whose writers ultimately failed them, and I can say that I agree to some extent. There are many things technically wrong with the movies. Minor details that set the pacing off or take away from the immersion. However, I still love both of them. I really love daughter vs mother and sister vs sister stories (that includes Tinkerbell: The Secret of The Wings) because there's so much to explore in such relationships. They also both have some killer soundtracks, some amazing visuals and well-executed action sequences. I've truly seen way worse than these two films, and the characters are mostly loveable.
The Breadwinner is an animated film about a girl dressing up like a boy under the rule of the Taliban so she can earn some money to help feed her family. It's scored very high by critics.
I'd also recommend The Owl House (even though there's some appeal to genderism in later seasons). It's the first time I've seen a bisexual animated character and the enemies to lovers arc with Luz and Amity is unmatched in cannon magic school stories. I also really love the depiction of The Owl Lady who is treated like a male character in that she is allowed to be non-maternal, single and old (and wrinkled), arrogant and boastful, all without the show trying to punish her for it. The Boiling Isles are also fascinating as a setting.
If you like The Owl House, there's a chance you'll love She-Ra. There were many things I found annoying about She-Ra, but my experience was mostly positive. I'm not the biggest fan of Catradora, but I do appreciate the drama. I loved the world-building and magic system mainly, so the character quirks didn't get to me as much as they have others. Also, amazing antagonists in this series. It could have been more mature, but it's still entertaining.
I also definitely recommend Home on The Range. It's a whole movie with talking animals, but there's no tomboy like the main female protagonist in a Disney movie. She is one of the most tomboy characters Disney ever made. Also, I love 2D animation and this film reminds me why. Also, the idea of a feminine, micromanaging old heifer, a bull-headed, roughhouse new girl cow, and a young airhead cow that can't sing going on an adventure across the wild west to save their human's (a sweet old lady with some bark and bite) farm? And they have to compete with a hotshot, asshole male horse who is young and fast? It's like the perfect western comedy but with cows!
Anyways, if you can't tell, I love animated stuff and a lot of these are my comfort movies.

I really don't like the Omega kids. I take them as seriously as I take the alphasprites, they don't exist to me. Hearing you guys talk about these little mistakes feels like watching everyone talk about a hypothetical scenario or dream some guy had once... which is the Homestuck experience now.
I dislike them, but it's not just because their stories stem from terrible couples, it's because they're so over designed but there is no meaning to anything.
It's cute Tavros has a bow tie and that Harry has a bandana but those feel like little trinkets that should have been added on later after we get used to seeing them. Show me their personalities first before you overload a character with this much clothing. Yiffy is the worst of these. It's too much. For some reason Eridan feels like a simpler design than this avril lavigne clone. There is something less cohesive and more busy about these designs than the original cast. Maybe it's because it has too many different grays and blacks. She looks more like a vast error character than a Homestuck one.
Look at how simple the character designs start out as, and then they purposely make their own outfits that fit their interests and personalities. Dirk may be a bit of an exception here actually, he changes his clothes right after he is introduced. Which introduces him as anal.
There is meaning here. There is a purpose that the story shares throughout it's run. Look at Rose's dress it was made from the velvet pillow introduced when her mom one-upped her and Roxy's outfit here clearly being a reference to her mom's love of knitting. There is a reason Jade wears blue and John wears green even though that isn't their colors. Dave's shades are a gift from John. John is wearing a bootlegged slimer shirt. I'm not saying the Omega kids need every article of clothing to have a backstory, but if they wear this much clothing it doesn't tell me much.
Why does Yiffy wear cleats if she was hidden away from the world? Did she run around in a backyard like a dog or something? I don't even remember if that is her story or not, I forgot so much about her because I was more focused on how she was a child that Rose had behind her wife's back. They're overloaded with drama too.
To add to that. I haven't placed much thought in it but I don't know what the Omega kids color scheme is supposed to be. I assume the Beta kids colors come from basic web colors. If you invert the beta kid's colors you get the Alpha kids color scheme.
The Omega kids just feel scattered and unorganized. It makes them feel even more meaningless because they don't fit in. If that is the point then why not have five kids to really fuck with the system here? The writers should have really ran with the whole "we're flipping the script and subverting expectations" thing.
I also don't give a shit if this is nitpicky, I'm sure you guys can all see there is something off about the omega kids.
I agree about the accessories doesn't really show they are connected with the Beta Kid adults. If the bandana is suppose to be like a replacement to how Roxy wears a scarf, then let the boy wear a scarf and not a stupid gay bandana. You think that Kanaya, who is a fashionista herself, would be critical of what her daughter, Vrissy wears. And if you are saying she would never reprimand her daughter because she looks like her crush, then that brings up a worse implication that she really is grooming her to be like Vriska by enabling her bad habits. What confuses me is Tavvy's overshirt has the matching color of Gamzee, the one who MOLESTED HIM. You think after his death, he would never wear that color and be disgusted by any shade of purple that's within his sight. Unless him still wearing that purple vest now is still symbolizing he is still bound by Gamzee or can't move on after what he did to him.
But yeah, nothing about the Omega Kids designs makes sense. And I still am on the side that laughs at Yiffany looking more like Nostalgia Critic.

Daydreaming
The title is the verb daydreaming, although the song only ever uses it as a noun. To me that sums up the desire for a fleeting moment to last, feeling like once Harry reaches a feeling it is already gone because he is in constant motion.
Love on Tour Opener
Daydreaming opened Love on Tour after HH's release. It is the perfect song for that, happy, light, upbeat with a fast tempo to dispel some of the crowds anxious energy to see Harry. He bounced out triumphantly to it too, it's such a fun moment. The screens showed Harry's house on a journey through London, Paris and New York:
youtube
He used parts of an Alan Watts 1969 lecture 'Out of Your Mind' here. That piece delved into perception of reality. The part Harry chose is saying that we are not seperate entities but rather interconnected in the universe. So many songs on HH are about the theme of connectedness and also perception vs reality, this song included. As the tour opener I take this part as a message to his audience that Love on Tour was about coming together, shared joy. Harry used part of his final show speech in Love on Tour, Forever and said 'none of you are alone, I feel what it that you create together.
When was it written / who worked on it
Daydreaming is from the first group of songs for the Harry's House sessions, before he went to UK, before he joined the DWD cast. Harry said at the ONO in NYC: "Tyler first sent me a voice note when I was driving from Palm Springs to LA & since that point, I think it was called 'idea on the 101 rough'. It's no longer called that, thank God, but I haven't stopped singing it since".
It and Satellite are the only songs recorded in The Cave Studios, Tylers Nashville home only now do I realise Satelliteâs recording there could be Tylers contribution done remote
It is another song that Pino Palladino played Bass on and John Mayer played guitar. As I have in detail in the post about them in Cinema. Harry told Howard Stern that he was across the corridor from JM and spoke about Daydreaming and Cinema together:
youtube
The horns are interesting, there are two horn players:
Ivan Jackson, of Brasstracks, also plays on MFASR from this same first set of songs as well as Watermelon Sugar and lights up on fine line.
Cole Kamen-Green of The Superpower Horns. He is in demand and also played horns on Taylorâs re-records, they met through Jack.
Daydreaming samples "Ain't We Funkin' Now." from 1978 so includes co-writing credits for Louis Johnson, Valerie Johnson, Alex Weir, Quincy Jones and Tom Bahler accordingly.
Lyrics
Ooh-ooh Ooh Livin' in a daydream She said, "Love me like you paid me" You know I'll be gone for so long So give me all of your love, give me something to dream about
Daydream and dreams are in several of Harry's songs and daydream is also in Boyfriends on this album. In both songs it means lying to yourself, or rather ignoring that something is fleeting because you want it to last, a theme on Harry's House.
'Paid me' is a theme in Harry's songs, and a Haylor theme also. Here it means that it's transactional, she wants all of Harry now because he is leaving and will be gone for so long. This line conjures up for me leaving to go on tour, which is the same premise as One Directions Back for You which Harry wrote on, though Daydreaming is more mature and jaded. It could equally be parting to go back to England in the Pandemic.
Ooh-ooh Stay until the morning 'Cause, baby, loving you's the real thing It just feels right When you give me all of your love, give me something to dream about (All of your love, give me something to dream about) So give me all of your love, give me something to dream about
Real is so interesting for Harry, in other songs (other than 'Something I've been waiting for) love has not been real, like in Two Ghosts "Tastes so sweet, looks so real" and Fool's Gold - "Yeah I know your love's not real" here he is staying longer than he should because the love is real, but if that is the case why should he leave sooner and the song's premise is that he knows it's a fleeting daydream.
"it just feels right" reminds me of Cinema's 'Don't know why, but it feels so right to me" but also Back for You which the setting of this song (in my mind) is the same as Back for You, Harry is leaving a love to go on tour.
"Give me something to dream about" reminds me of Perfect's "If you like to do whatever you've been dreaming about" - but a reverse.
Ooh-ooh Livin' in a daydream x3 Give me all of your love, give me something to dream about Livin' in a daydream x4 Livin' in a daydream (it's alright) Livin' in a daydream Give me all of your love Give me something to dream about (give me all of your love, ooh-ooh)
Harry sings about 'Alright' a lot, like an anxiety bubbling up, he never sounds sure it will be even when he says it is. Here it's almost like he is saying it's OK that it's a daydream, that he knows it is fleeting and that is OK.
The outtro is repeating 'Living in a daydream' the whole song is one last night with someone before time apart, accepting you will part and pretending it is real and forever when he knows it is not.

hii! top 5 media in any form you'd love to make everyone experience if you could?
or alternatively, top 5 favorite songs to sing? ^^
i'll answer both of these, because why not!
i want every human on planet earth to read the anthropocene reviewed by john green. i'm so serious. i read it during the height of the pandemic and it changed my entire perspective. rating the human experience on a five star scale. genuinely, what a concept. the man is wasted in YA -- this is what he's really good at.
rocky horror shadow cast! an essential queer experience, imo. every kind of freak is there and having fun, and you're encouraged to be vile, which is so rare in our world that is obsessed with politeness.
i hope that everyone wherever they live can experience large scale sculpture and light installations at places like the dia beacon and storm king art center. seeing art at that level and on that scale really puts your own existence into perspective.
a gospel concert, especially held by an established choir. once again, i am so serious. even if you are an atheist, or not christian, the power and passion of the music, and the enormity of the compositions, is deeply moving and will make you feel things you haven't felt in a long time!
this one is often a hard sell, but you asked: see a community theater production at least once a year. supporting amateur art is essential to keeping your community alive, and i guarantee that you will be surprised by some element of what you see. there are always diamonds in the rough, and the dedication of the entire cast and crew should be lauded!
now i love to sing, and i sing a variety of songs literally daily, so i'll give you top 5 songs to sing at karaoke at the present moment:
dreams by fleetwood mac!
sunday morning by no doubt! also bathwater so we'll count this as one entry!
(i wanna) dance with somebody by whitney houston!
breezeblocks by alt-j!
tears dry on their own by amy winehouse!

What are some of your favorite poems, Captain? (Besides o captain my captain ofc) <3
Anon,
What a wonderful question! I'd be delighted to share a few of my favorites with you all.
To start, my all time favorite is titled "Clair de lune" (translates to "Moonlight") by Paul Verlaine, written in 1896. Those with a keen eye may recognise the title from Claude Debussy's song of the same title, which was a piece inspired by the poem. The original work is in French, but I will provide an English translation by Chris Routledge.
Moonlight
Your soul is a select landscape
Where charming masqueraders and bergamaskers go
Playing the lute and dancing and almost
Sad beneath their fantastic disguises.
All sing in a minor key
Of victorious love and the opportune life,
They do not seem to believe in their happiness
And their song mingles with the moonlight,
With the still moonlight, sad and beautiful,
That sets the birds dreaming in the trees
And the fountains sobbing in ecstasy,
The tall slender fountains among marble statues.
Paul Verlaine, 1869
Another one of my favorites, also by Uncle Walt, is called "O Living Always, Always Dying" from his poetry collection titled Leaves of Grass. Leaves of Grass was published in 1855, but he continuously edited and reworked it until he passed in 1892.
O Living Always, Always Dying
O LIVING always, always dying!
O the burials of me past and present,
O me while I stride ahead, material, visible, imperious as ever;
O me, what I was for years, now dead, (I lament not, I am content;)
O to disengage myself from those corpses of me, which I turn and look at where I cast them,
To pass on, (O living! always living!) and leave the corpses behind.
Walt Whitman, 1855
The last one I'll share is titled "Love Lives Beyond the Tomb" by John Clare. I only found this poem very recently, so unfortunately I don't know when it was published.
Love Lives Beyond the Tomb
Love lives beyond
The tomb, the earth, which fades like dewâ
I love the fond,
The faithful, and the true
Love lives in sleep,
'Tis happiness of healthy dreams
Eveâs dews may weep,
But love delightful seems.
'Tis seen in flowers,
And in the even's pearly dew
On earth's green hours,
And in the heaven's eternal blue.
âTis heard in spring
When light and sunbeams, warm and kind,
On angelsâ wing
Bring love and music to the wind.
And where is voice,
So young, so beautiful and sweet
As natureâs choice,
Where Spring and lovers meet?
Love lives beyond
The tomb, the earth, the flowers, and dew.
I love the fond,
The faithful, young and true.
John Clare
Another one of my favorite poems was written (or verbalised I suppose?) by a student of mine. Neither he nor I got the chance to write it down, and I most definitely do not have permission to share it. No sleep lost over it, sometimes the best poems are the ones you only hear once! Thank you very much for the question.
Best,
John Keating

Summary:
From a crumbling fortress hidden in a deep green wood, Castiel watches a world he is destined never to join. Itâs a solitary existence, but he is for the most part content. The companionship of his friends, the wolf, and the crow is enough.
At least, it has been, for as long as he can remember. Until one night the unthinkable happens and a strange man finds his way into Castielâs sanctuary. A man whose presence makes his heart seem to beat for the first timeâŠwho makes him begin to question everything about his strange secluded world.
As one of King Arthurâs most trusted warriors, Deanâs future was bright and his path clearly laid out for him. He would be knighted, then married, fulfilling his obligation to his father and the destiny John had chosen for him.
It seemed a perfectly good plan, until the night Dean dreams of a young man with full lips and kind eyesâŠ.eyes that make him want to cast destiny aside and live in his dreams.
Can Cas convince Dean heâs not just a dream? Can Dean defy his father and choose his own destiny? And can they both solve the mystery of Castielâs curse before it threatens their love and Camelotâs future?
