Escaflowne Fic Rec

So here it is! I finally decided to put everything in order before starting NaNoWriMo as I’ve written quite a few Escaflowne fics, many of which reference one another or compliment each other and after November I should have 2 or 3 more. I’ll be reblogging this when I add new pieces. 

I’ve also included links to head canons which aren’t on Ao3, but the stories can be found on here and Ao3.

Stories

The fics are very much connected and set in the same post series world in terms of my headcanons/mindset, therefore reference similar things/events. I probably should have just written one long story shouldn’t I? (though I would have had to write a lot more for it all to make sense!) This is basically due to Gaddes appearing in all of them and a lot of them at some point either reference thinking about Eries, either fleetingly at the beginning or include obvious Gaddes/Eries later on.

What Friends Are For - Centring on Allen and Gaddes’ friendship. Takes place during the series (after Allen and Hitomi kiss). Oh boy did I have fun writing this one! Gaddes finally decides to put Allen straight in regard to how he treats women, he raises his voice and gets pretty angry (yay angry Gaddes). Allen, whilst drunk, admits to Gaddes the reason why he is like this and gets pretty emotional leading to act in a way and say things that suggest he has deeper feelings for Gaddes. I’ve edited this one to fit in with my mindset/headcanons, so a few bits that mention Eries have been amended. Warnings - sexism/misogyny and Allen being a real tool (though this is explained)

Graveside - Still my favourite. Focusing on Gaddes but with quite a bit of Hitomi too. Gaddes has a deep discussion with Hitomi when she does a tarot reading for him. It gets a bit awkward, naturally. Gaddes discloses information on the sad fate of the woman he loved and hints to hopes for the future. Hitomi discusses her future with him and her feelings for Van. At Allen’s mother’s grave Gaddes bumps into Eries who he knows but has rarely spoken to on a one-on-one basis, they share a touching moment. t/w - mentions of rape, miscarriage and abuse.

Moving On - Another Gaddes/Eries fic, set in between ‘Graveside’ and ‘The Path Of Love in the Face of Trepidation’ because I felt there needed to be a little more relationship development. Hurt/comfort, Gaddes begins to open up about his past to Eries in the same way he did to Hitomi, their conversation is cut short by a curious Celena and confused Allen. There is a slight warning for mention of rape/abuse.

Soul Food - Another Gaddes/Eries fic, set in between ‘Graveside’ and ‘The Path Of Love in the Face of Trepidation’ because I felt there needed to be a little more relationship development. Gaddes cannot sleep, neither can Eries. Eries is hungry as she hasn’t eaten and on discovering a wide awake Gaddes the two of them sit down to enjoy a little midnight feast in the garden together. A lot of fluff! Oh and Moleman appears in this!

The Path of Love in the face of Trepidation (WiP?) - The main followup piece to ‘Graveside’, this follows Moving On and Soul Food. Chapter 1 and 2 are a continuation of Gaddes and Eries’ growing feelings and displays of affection as well as Eries confiding in Gaddes about her fears. Hitomi leaves for home. Chapter 3 centres on Eries visiting Gaddes at the Castello where he is now Commander overseeing the rebuild. They take their relationship to the next level… I may continue this one… Warnings - smut, in case it’s not obvious graphic smut, like 9 pages of smut and loving/awkward first time.

Back Where I Belong - Hitomi/Van. Set five years after the end of the series. This was meant to be a long fic but ended up at 2 not very glorious chapters… It centres on Van missing Hitomi and Merle trying to comfort him and back on earth Hitomi missing Gaea/Van. Warnings - depression

Don’t Leave Me - Focusing on Celena/Dilandau. Only short but pretty angsty and full of confusion/regret. Allen, Eries and Gaddes attempt to comfort and protect Celena after an ‘accident’. Some implied feelings in terms of Celena towards Gaddes as well as ‘nods’ to the relationship between Eries and Gaddes that is building (this one isn’t a companion piece to the others as such but takes place after graveside) Warnings - angst, blood, implied self harm.

Now the Dust as Settled - The first Gaddes fic I wrote, from his POV, after the war he’s feeling a little lonely/empty. He takes a fancy to a new girl working in the crews favourite tavern and there’s some awkward moments that lead to conversations. I was going to amend this to fit in with the mindset and head canons re: Eries/his family as in the fics above. But i’ve decided to leave it as a standalone as I think it works better that way! This is an o/f/c in it and he flirts quite a bit/implied they’ll be a relationship there. Warning - smut.
