Okay so looks like nobody got majority. Assuming the recounts change nothing, the NDP should be able to form a minority government with Green. Rustad, however, has already said that he "would 'look at every single opportunity from day one' to bring them down and trigger a new election" (https://portageonline.com/articles/no-clear-winner-in-bc-election-conservative-leader-says-province-changed-forever)
This is who we're talking about:
They also want to "Replace SOGI 123 with zero-tolerance anti-bullying programs" and well, the fact that they don't think those two can coexist says wonders.
And I know there's talk about the US election and by all means, go and vote! But the Conservative Party of Canada is looking to win the Canadian one next year. One of the candidates has already endorsed conversion therapy.

Rustad calling Eby a conspiracy theorist is a BOLD move

Text
The British Columbia Conservatives are standing by a candidate who called Palestinian children "inbred" and "time bombs," remarks that NDP Leader David Eby describes as "criminal hate speech." Conservatives Leader John Rustad says he has accepted the apology of Surrey South candidate Brent Chapman and won't ask him to step down, but Eby says a candidate engaged in such speech should be fired. Chapman's comments in a series of social media posts about 10 years ago are resurfacing days ahead of the Oct. 19 provincial election. The National Council of Canadian Muslims says they consider Chapman's posts that refer to Palestinian children as "walking, talking, breathing time bombs" as deeply Islamophobic, disgusting, and utterly unacceptable.

theglobeandmail com/canada/british-columbia/article-british-columbias-election-campaign-kicks-off-with-ndp-conservatives/
British Columbia’s election campaign kicked off on Saturday with both of the main party leaders trading shots over key voter issues of health care, affordability and public safety.
New Democrat Leader David Eby spent the day touring key ridings that delivered his party’s majority in 2020, and warning supporters that his rival, Conservative leader John Rustad, would cut health care spending, make life more costly, and erase progress on the construction of affordable housing.
“If I earn the trust of British Columbians through the campaign, I will be laser-focused on reducing the costs they face everyday,” he told a rally in Richmond, the first official stop of the campaign.
Mr. Rustad made his first appearance at Vancouver’s Crab Park, which has been the location of a long-running homeless encampment that he referred to as a symbol of decline in B.C., after seven years of NDP government.
“B.C. is at a crossroads,” he said. “The question is, are we going to fight for our future, or continue to manage decline.”
He painted a bleak picture of the state of the province under the NDP, saying almost half the population is struggling to meet rent and pay for groceries, while the health care system is broken.
“We have endless potential but it is hopelessly managed,” he said.
“What we’ve seen from David Eby, quite frankly, is weak leadership,” he said. “He’s not been able to fix many of the problems we have in this province.” He listed off the deadly opioid crisis, access to health care and the construction of new housing “where he seems to think it’s government’s job.”
At another rally, Mr. Eby fired back: “John, I have a message for you. The premier does have a role in providing affordable housing.”
The day set up what is expected to be a hotly contested race between two veterans of the B.C. Legislature, although neither has campaigned as a party leader.
The lieutenant-governor signed the writ on Saturday, with Oct. 19 set as the election date.
Mr. Eby, who has served as British Columbia’s premier for almost two years, is facing voters in a campaign that is very different than the one expected just a few months ago.
The governing NDP enjoyed a comfortable, double-digit lead in public opinion polls until the spring, when their chief rivals, the BC United party, started to hemorrhage support to the provincial Conservatives under Mr. Rustad.
That shift prompted the abrupt collapse of BC United in late August, leaving just two main parties in a statistical dead heat in public polls, with the Greens trailing far behind.
The Conservatives have not won an election in B.C. in almost a century, but Mr. Rustad, who has served as an MLA since 2005, revived the party that he took over last year – after he was kicked out of the official opposition because he questioned the science of climate change.
NDP are promising that the investments they have made in health care, housing and public safety are now starting to bear fruit. “We are just turning the corner,” Mr. Eby told supporters in a packed campaign office, with an overflow crowd spilling out on the sidewalk.
His campaign schedule for the day includes stops in North Vancouver and Langley, where the NDP made inroads in 2020, and it hopes to hold in the Oct. 19 election.
In a bid to neutralize the Conservative’s populist promise to “axe the carbon tax,” Mr. Eby executed an about-face on carbon pricing just a week before the campaign began, saying he is ready to remove the levy on consumers – not industry – if the federal government drops legislation requiring it.
Mr. Rustad has consistently promised to end all forms of carbon pricing. The Conservatives also say they will return the province to balanced budgets, roll back the NDP’s housing policies, and lower taxes.
Mr. Rustad has made public safety a key rallying cry, blaming Mr. Eby for the street disorder that escalated over the past year with the government’s failed decriminalization pilot project.
The Health Canada-sanctioned pilot meant adults in possession of small amounts of certain illegal drugs most commonly associated with overdoses would not be arrested or charged. The experiment was scrapped this summer after a widespread backlash over illicit drug use in hospitals, parks and other public spaces.
The third party, the Greens, have been relegated to a distant third place in recent opinion polls. Leader Sonia Furstenau spent the first day of the campaign on the street, holding a public rally in downtown Victoria.
“We’ve seen a campaign from the other two parties that has focused on mud-slinging, fear and anger,” she said. “The B.C. Greens have something else to offer, a vision of the province that can and should be the best place to live in the whole wide world.”

My personal ratings for this BC leaders debate (which you can watch over on Global or listen to here or search "The Mike Smyth Show" wherever you listen to podcasts) are:
Sonia Furstenau (Greens) - I found myself agreeing with her the most and I found she brought up the best points (especially regarding the reality of needing to address the root causes of our ongoing societal issues, like poverty and profiteering, for example)
David Eby (NDP) - He seemed to often agree with Sonia's points (me too!), but he also seemed much more focused on trying to catch Rustad in one of the many areas where Rustad can be called out on (because Rustad is one of those politicians), if only Rustad was someone that ever addressed what he was being asked directly to address
John Rustad (Cons) - I don't understand how people like this manage to always be in the running for leadership spots at ANY level in modern society, let alone at a provincial level, but I guess that's the type of modern society we still live in — a bunch of people clutching desperately at the ways of the old 'Us vs Them' world (the same old world where we just had to have a national day of truth & reconciliation because of how dark life can get when capitalist interests are put in charge of setting the rules for how the game of life gets played).
Of course, none of these people are who people in the HWY 95/A area will be casting votes for, so hopefully we'll start getting some local area debates (with video/audio 'listen later' options) to pass along as well!

NOIR CITY Hollywood continues tonight at the American Cinematheque: THE HUNTED (35mm), 3:00 PM in 35mm & CALL NORTHSIDE 777 / LARCENY (35mm), 7:30 PM. Eddie Muller in person! Tickets and schedule: https://bit.ly/3pJBmcV 3:00 PM THE HUNTED 35mm print courtesy of the Film Noir Foundation collection at UCLA Film & Television Archive Introduced by Eddie Muller Screenplay by Steve Fisher Directed by Jack Bernhard Paroled after serving a prison term for her part in a jewel heist, Laura Mead (Belita) returns to the city looking to reclaim her life. Waiting in the shadows is her former boyfriend, detective Johnny Saxon (Preston Foster) —who may have railroaded her into the pen out of jealousy. Is Laura ready to forgive… or make good on her jailhouse threat to kill the men who sent her up? THE HUNTED may seem formulaic on the surface, but it’s the one-two punch of Steve Fisher’s screenplay and Belita’s performance that elevates it above so many of its B-movie peers. The former stands out due to its crackling dialogue and the latter for its idiosyncratic grit. A hypnotic twist on the femme fatale tale, resurrected from obscurity in a 35mm preservation print funded by the Film Noir Foundation. 7:30 PM CALL NORTHSIDE 777
Introduced by Eddie Muller Screenplay by Jerome Cady and Jay Dratler, based on news articles by James P. McGuire Directed by Henry Hathaway Jimmy Stewart is terrific as P.J. McNeal, a Chicago newspaper reporter determined to free a convicted killer (Richard Conte) he believes has been unfairly imprisoned for eleven years. Despite a mountain of seemingly irrefutable evidence, McNeal follows his gut and unravels a string of bad luck and miscommunication that would appear unbelievable were it not based on a true story. Stewart rarely ventured into the noir world, but when he did his heroism took on an obsessive bent, giving his performances a notable edge. The first Hollywood feature to be shot entirely on location in Chicago, CALL NORTHSIDE 777 also boasts fantastic cinematography by Joseph MacDonald and stellar supporting performances by Conte, Lee J. Cobb, and Helen Walker. Winner of the Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America for Best Motion Picture of 1948. Followed by: LARCENY, 89 Minutes, Universal Pictures, USA. Screenplay by Williams Bowers, Herb Margolis, and Lou Morheim, based on the novel The Velvet Fleece by Lois Eby and John C. Fleming Directed by George Sherman John Payne and Dan Duryea play dandy grifters bent on bilking a wealthy war widow (Joan Caulfield) into funding a non-existent war memorial. Both these sharpies get tangled up with saucy Shelley Winters, who’s more dangerous than a loaded .38! George Sherman may not wield the directorial heft of his studio peers, but he clears out plenty of space for his actors to shine, and they fire off Bowers’ one-liners faster than speeding bullets. You know things have been morally compromised when Percy Helton, of all people, is playing an upstanding citizen. We once had to screen this riotously entertaining, little-known gem in 16mm (at NOIR CITY 4), but we’re thrilled to now show it in a glorious 35mm print courtesy of Universal Pictures.

A BBC reality TV show aired last month that showcased the beauty of British Columbia while also constantly pointing out how frustrating the province's transportation system can be.
Race Across the World began its third season in British Columbia, with five teams competing in an Amazing Race-style journey to get to St. John's, Newfoundland.
The first episode saw people dropped in Vancouver's Stanley Park and told to head to the Haida Gwaii community of Tlell without any access to phones, airplanes, or car rentals.
One team is told to head to Whistler, only to find out there is no public transportation that heads north. Other heads to Vancouver Island and finds out it would cost $500 to travel from Campbell River to Port Hardy.
"With public transport so limited, Canadians have learned to embrace car sharing," gravely intones the narrator at one point, showing one of the four teams that resorted to hitchhiking or ride-hailing websites to make their way across the province, including from Prince George to Prince Rupert and Victoria to Port Hardy.
The lack of connecting buses from town to town clearly exasperated many of the teams, used to a much more robust system of buses and trains across Europe—albeit in countries that are usually much smaller and more densely populated than British Columbia.
"I was under the impression we would be able to switch to another bus, and it'd be easy, so I'm a bit frustrated at the moment," said one contestant as he waited for a bus in Nanaimo.
Clips of the episode went viral in British Columbia over the last week, catching the eye of many politicians who have advocated for better regional transit service.
"We've actually gone backward over the decades," said Green Party Leader Sonia Furstenau, who lives in the Cowichan Valley and has advocated for better transit service linking communities on the island.
"There used to be significantly more access to public transit than there is now in smaller communities about declining regional transit service in B.C.—in large part sparked by the departure of Greyhound from across the province five years ago—David Eby argued it wasn't the case.
But Furstenau believes there are opportunities for more investment, starting with the mindset that part of government infrastructure is public transit—and not just public transit inside Metro Vancouver and Victoria; that's public transit across the province.
If there's any consolation for wounded pride, the next episode of the season had contestants go from Haida Gwaii to Dawson City, Yukon—making the difficulties of southern B.C. look tame by comparison.
