DISCORD, THE MAD KIN OF CARNAGE (A Radioactive Calamity Of Love, Bombs & Gore and the Unnamed Original Works Trilogy)

Discord was a second-generation reality bender (or more commonly known as "Kin"), and one of the most devastatingly powerful as well. His very presence was capable of reverting anything and everything around him back to its basic essential form/s (until it became rusted, rotten, and/or dust and eventually nothing at all). Had technically been killed during the Extermination Purge War, however, Arcane Urias' Chapter of the Occult, a group of warlocks, liches and dark magic users that aimed to preserve ancient magic (regardless if it was forbidden or destructive) and bring back the Old Kin (which mostly consist of the extinct first, second and third generations, as well as some fourth) to rule over the Multiverse once again, had found a way to bring back Discord, in a universe where Earth had been ravaged by nuclear war. NOTE: This result kind of describes how Discord's second death more-or-less is like.

THE BAPTIST AND THE QUOKKA [JOHN SEED X NADI SINCLAIR] (Far Cry The Silver Chronicles)

While Nadi and John have this "loyally serving the other while yearning for each others love but beating around the bush due to bad timings and stuff and still caring and possessive of the other to an obsessively unhealthy degree"... I will have to say that Nadi's affection isn't John's only priority; Joseph and his family plus the project is John's focus and is probably what he would choose over Nadi. Nadi though views John as the person who gave her something to believe in again, to put her skill and faith in (especially after losing faith in the military and governments after the events of Call To Arms), so to her, Eden's Gate' faith is personified by John. But if either lose each one another, it will greatly impact the other's life.

HAOYU ANABUKI X ICARUS GALATOS (Life, Despair & Monsters)

Ah yes, another main LGBTQ+ couple I made to add to my collection alongside Sonya and Jennifer. Haoyu (Non-Binary, 25) and Icarus (Male, 23) fit each other well. At first both thought the other was a jerk. However, both got to know each other, related about their experiences with distant, long-lost and/or found family (Haoyu with their father, mother and Monika plus the Literature Club, and Icarus with his parents, siblings, alters and the Dupain-Cheng Family), coming to terms with their personal lives (Haoyu with their ability to open portals and travel through reality breaches, and Icarus plus his alters with the ability to switch dimensions with this magic fungus dude named Hatter whom one of the alters had eaten inadvertently on a dare), as well as near-death experiences (Haoyu with the Ruins of the Midnight Rise, and Icarus with Evermond Scowlzka trying to dissect him and his alters to get Hatter) plus their encounters with Sir Enigma Malvolio (Haoyu is Malvolio's foil and therefore targeted as a rival, and Icarus, while never meeting Malvolio until much later, had seen the aftereffects of Malvolio putting the essence of the Court King into a close friend of his, Marinette Dupain-Cheng). They also manage to work through each other's flaws; Icarus was reserved and arrogant but self-sacrificing (hence the requirement for his alters, Hatsukami Hinode and Xavier Tulip), and Haoyu was bold and selfish yet unambitious. Icarus teaches Haoyu how to be driven, pointing them towards a goal beneficial to not only them, but everyone, while Haoyu taught Icarus how to listen and take care of himself more, as well as be open-minded. Wherever they end up after the fight with the Ruins of the Midnight Rise, know that they're both at least together.

Topper Thornton x Maybank!Sister OC Nicky Maybank From these August Prompts:  “Necessary Theft"

Summary: Nicky Maybank, JJ’s older sister, just graduated.  Her summer break was supposed to be normal. Work, party, chill. But then she somehow Topper came into the mix. Fun little summer romance fic with the twist of a pogue navigating a relationship with a kook.  

A/N: A little update for my favs.

Nicky woke up to the sound of water splashing, her eyes opened wide from the noise when she realized she was in the hammock at the chateau. Her memories of the night prior filled her head. She was out with Topper, like she had been for the past few nights. The two of them mainly spent their time more south than the cut, away from prying curious eyes of Kildare. Occupying parks, beaches, sometimes they even just stayed parked in Topper’s car and talking, laughing…making out for hours. That didn’t stop her from her usual shenanigans with the Pogues, while she was around a lot less, she tried to keep up her appearances to avoid anyone saying anything. And if they did, she’d say she worked late, was spending time with friends from her grade that even though each Pogue knew, they wouldn’t ever run into them let alone ask if it was true. 

As she came to it she saw John B on the dock tying the HMS Pogue to the boards, likely what the splashing was that woke her up. The fire pit was ashing out, just small embers pulsing as the low breeze killed any hopes of it picking back up. The empty beer bottles and silence outside of the docking boat let Nicky know she was the last one here, it wasn’t that it was unlike her to sleep at The Chateau but lately she was very aware and preservative of her time. Her hands searched for her phone in the hammock and found it. 2%. It was enough for her to check the time and her messages. 

9:54AM

Topper 7:14AM:

You still wanna go take the boat out today? 

She quickly responded back with the little battery she had. 

Nicky 9:55AM:

Yea, sorry I was asleep. Wanna go in the late afternoon? Sunset ride? 

After hitting send, she crawled out of the hammock and placed her phone in the back of her jean short pocket. John B was making his way up the dock to the yard. 

“Sorry to wake you!” He chuckled. 

Nicky stood in the yard, hand on her hip and other hand shielding her eyes from the sun. “I’m sure you owed me a wake up call!” 

John B laughed at that. “That’s true, you normally are the early bird Maybank.” 

��Speaking of Maybanks, JJ went home?” She looked around at John B approached. 

“Uh,” John B paused to think of what to say. “Yea, I think, he left here kind of early.” 

“Freaky Friday.” Nicky smiled oblivious to John B being on edge. “Alright, I’ll catch ya later.” She threw up the peace sign and turned to grab one of the many bikes JJ and John B shared between themselves.

Nicky tossed the bike against the house before dredging her way inside. Her phone pinging before she entered the porch door. 

Topper 10:09AM: 

Sounds good, pick you up normal spot at 4? 

But before she could respond, the noise of banging from inside the house alerted her and she placed her phone back in her pocket, she tried to open the porch screen quietly but it was old and creaky so it was impossible. Whoever was inside didn’t mind or hear the creaks so Nicky proceeded with caution. It could have been some of low life townies breaking in and stealing whatever was around, but more likely it could have been her father back from whatever bender. She hoped it was the shithead townies, she could scare them easily but her father, that was a whole other beast. 

The living room was quiet when she entered but immediately a figure walking by in the kitchen alerted her. Her eyes jumped to the person. JJ. Relief exhaled out of her mouth and the tension left her body immediately as she rested against the back door. 

“Jesus Christ, JJ. You scared the fuck out of me.” Another sigh left her mouth as she stepped closer to the kitchen. Her relief was short lived when she saw tons of metal pieces and parts littered on their kitchen island and counters. “JJ, what the fuck is this?” 

“It’s our rent, our bills, our past dues, and oh yea,” he lifted up a copper part and smiled at his sister, “free, fun, spending.” 

“JJ what the fuck is all of this?” Nicky wasn’t nearly as happy as her little brother was. Their entire table space was covered, as she got a closer look she realized they were boat parts, some older and rusted and some brand new. 

“Boat and drone parts from the salvage yard.” JJ was so nonchalant in how he answered. 

“JJ.” Nicky stared at everything. 

“Nicky.” JJ mocked her with a laugh. 

“Tell me you didn’t steal all of this.” Her hand raised to her forehead as she processed everything. 

“What does it matter, I can sell this shit off on the mainland and it’ll never come back to us.” JJ acted as if he had everything solved. 

“There’s fuckin trackers in the drone parts, JJ!” Nicky lifted the one part of the drone that was still on. 

JJ was quick to grab it from her and smash it on the table along with the other one he had as well. “Problem solved.” 

Nicky closed her eyes as she tried to think of what to do. “This is fucking theft, JJ.” 

“I’d like to consider it necessary theft.” He tilted his head from side to side as he leveled with his sister. 

“That’s not a real fuckin’ thing, JJ.” She kept saying his name, like that was going to ground him or something. “And even if it was, necessary theft would be stealing food or clothes, something of necessity!” Her voice raised. 

“I’m pretty sure money is a necessity, and these parts = money, Nicky.” JJ was getting aggravated. 

“And what happens if Dad comes home, huh? Sees this shit and fucks off with it? Then what? Then we’re left with the crime and nothing to show for it.” Nicky began arguing with him. 

“Dad’s not fucking coming home. You know that!” JJ met her tone. “C’mon, Nick, we need this.” 

“No, I’m taking care of us. Rent is paid through till the fall, there's food here isn’t there? Our bills are next to nothing because we’re never really here.” Nicky argued the anger boiling in her gut. She did everything to avoid this. 

“Exactly, you’re never here!” JJ yelled now, his voice being fully raised. “I had to step up!” 

“For what reason?! Everything was taken care of! You don’t realize this is just digging you into a hole you’re never going to get out of, everything I do is so you can avoid this shit but you always end up back in it, what the fuck is wrong with you, JJ?!” 

The last sentence cut. He was just trying to help. Nicky knew that, but she was frustrated. 

“I guess I’m just a chip off the ol’ Maybank block.” JJ was hurt, Nicky could hear it in his voice. He was starting to walk away when Nicky blocked him. 

“Fuck, JJ. No I’m sorry.” She grabbed his arms. He looked down at her uncomfortably. “I just, I don’t want this for you, I don’t want this for us.” She pointed at the parts. “I try so hard for us to live comfortably and legally.” She laughed hoping JJ would ease down. 

He did let out a chuckle. “I appreciate you wanting to help, I always do. But this will do more harm than good. We gotta bring it back, or dump it somewhere that it can’t be tracked back to us. It’s too risky to bring it to the mainland and sell it.” Nicky explained in a more calmer voice. 

JJ just nodded, his disheveled hair falling into his face as he did. Nicky nodded back and brought him in for a hug. “I love you, little brother.” 

“Love you too.” He mumbled as he embraced the girl back. 

“You want my help dealing with this?” She pointed to the mess on the table as they ended their hug. 

“Nah, I’ll call John B. We got it over, we can get it back.” His hand raked through his hair. 

Nicky smirked thinking back to John B coming back to the chateau this morning and feeling like an idiot for missing the obvious display of anxiety he had from hiding all of this from her. 

“I got plans in a bit but you wanna hang out tomorrow? Just me and you? I heard I’m never around anymore.” Nicky’s eyebrows raised as she stared at her brother who let his head fall down in a laugh. 

“Yea sounds good, we can catch the morning break if you’re down?” 

“Sounds like a plan, I’m gonna go shower, I smell like the bonfire from last night.” 

JJ nodded again and turned to take care of the hundreds of parts scattered everywhere while Nicky turned to lock herself in the bathroom. That was a lot to digest, there was a lot done and said. While she thought she was doing a good job at hiding things, she was MIA a lot and exhausted from hiding things. But she still felt this was better than the alternative, for now at least. She turned the shower on and as she let the water warm up she brought her phone out. 

Nicky 10:25AM

“Usual spot in an hour?” 

Topper replied within seconds.

Defs felt :( I think a lot of it does boil down to the corporations-owning-everything point like, completely original movies are getting overshadowed by remakes and "x cinematic universe" much less original characters. Nobody's really looking to invent a new Elvira because that requires doing something different :/

More importantly though I think this is all very related to where we're at now which is like, Chris Pratt Mario like it's almost the opposite phenomenon??? Like the celebrities themselves are more important than the characters they play and when they are casted, it's not because they perform the character the best it's because they're a big A list name. It's very soulless and defeats the point of what an actor is supposed to be in the first place.

I think you could contrast this a lot with voice actors (mostly in lower budget productions not like Disney movies etc though not necessarily exclusive), which are paid significantly less and are considered lesser because of working in animation. But so many of them are so passionate about the character they voice they feel they ARE that character in spirit. John Dimaggio as Bender, Richard Horvitz as Zim, and fans would spit on a remake where those actors weren't casted. I feel it's the closest spiritual successor to the oc roleplay thing, which unfortunately comes with the stipulation they don't down the characters and therefore you can't cast Bender the cartoon character in anything BUT it's entirely common when hiring actors like that for the director to be like "we want you to do something like Bender for this character" and this sort of fun little thing happens where fans will talk about it like "Jake the Dog is played by Bender" and I think that's super cute. Also VA's who frequent cons and such will often lightly roleplay a character during signings and photo ops

Whatever happened to celebrities who play the same campy character all the time? I don’t mean actors who tend to play a particular kind of character or artists with a signature style, I mean like the people who used to get famous as wrestling villains or zany gimmick comedians and stayed in character for just whatever public appearances. Some of these are still around but I can’t remember the last time we made a new one. Society hasn’t produced another Elvira or a Mr. T in decades. Just stuffy normal people who do interviews about just how super normal they are, how they might be Captain Superhero or whatever on screen but in real life they drink coffees and change diapers and have a dog or whatever. Hate this. I don’t want one more guy to become famous for just being some guy. It fucking blows.

EISLEY WALKED DOWN THE HALLWAY BESIDE JOHN ON THEIR WAY OUT OF THE BUILDING. The young woman was tucked comfortably underneath his arm. While a barely visible smile was on John's face, Eisley smiled widely. They'd been nearly inseparable all day, much to the disbelief of quite a few people. Around them, people gave them curious glances, and one girl that was considered popular whispered behind her hands to her friends, eyeing the couple as they passed. Neither of them cared, though.

"Hey, Bri," Eisley called when the boy came into sight.

Brian looked up from his conversation with his friends, looking a little confused until he spotted his new friends. He grinned and waved enthusiastically, and Eisley's already wide smile got a little bigger. Brian's friends looked between their friend and the girl and even John, wide-eyed and bewildered. John, having witnessed the entire exchange, chuckled.

Claire came into sight, next. She was surrounded by her friends that spoke loudly about things that Eisley didn't much care for. The darker skinned girl's wide smile reduced to one that was a bit smaller, but still very much there. She gave a nod of acknowledgement to the red haired girl when they met eyes. Claire watched them for a moment before subtly nodding back and returning to the conversation with her friends.

Refusing to let Claire ruin her good mood, Eisley allowed her smile to get wide again as she and John passed the girl and her friends by. She knew deep down that Claire wouldn't really change, no matter how loud Eisley told her that her friends shouldn't control her. It was disappointing, yes, but not unexpected.

Andrew was the one that initiated the interaction next. "Hey!" he shouted over the chatter of the hallway when he spotted them, ignoring the fact that his jock buddies looked scandalized. When the couple spotted the blond boy, he began waving at them. Eisley waved back while John threw up a hand as a greeting. Andrew smiled and turned back to his friends, explaining that Eisley was his friend. Denny Duchamp didn't look at all pleased with that revelation.

Allison was outside waiting for her parents to pick her up. She was typically always one of the first people out of the building because she never really had any friends to talk to that kept her from leaving immediately. However, she was pleasantly surprised when Eisley and John passed her on the sidewalk, both giving the girl a smile — Eisley's bigger than John's, of course — and a quick "hello" as they walked on.

John walked Eisley most of the way home. He stopped a few blocks away, where he'd have to separate from her so that he could head to his own home. He didn't really want to leave her, he didn't want to go home, so he wrapped his arms around her tightly and buried his face in her hair, breathing in the scent of it. He didn't really know what it smelled like, he just knew that he liked it. Eisley's face was pressed against his chest and her arms were tightly secured around his torso. He smelled like cigarettes and cheap cologne, and it made her smile against his coat.

When they broke apart a couple minutes later, Eisley gripped onto the collar of his coat and pulled him down so that she could plant a kiss on his lips. It was slow and nice, and he looked just a little dazed when they pulled apart.

"See you tomorrow," she said softly, then turned and began to make her way home.

John stared after her, smiling to himself as he turned to walk himself home. "Yeah," he said to himself. "See you tomorrow."

Saturday March 24, 1984

THERE WERE FIVE OTHER PEOPLE IN THE LIBRARY WHEN EISLEY WALKED IN. She cringed. She recognized them all, knew their names, she knew exactly who they were, stereotype-wise, anyways. There typically weren't so many people there in Saturday detention. Usually she and one or two other people that didn't know each other at all sat quietly and did absolutely nothing for nine hours and then left. Now, there were six people, and it seemed to her already that this Saturday wasn't going to be like every other Saturday she had been there.

Spotting an empty seat in the very back opposite some girl — Allison, she believed — that had turned herself away from the rest of the people in the room, Eisley shuffled past the rest of the students and quickly took the seat. She passed a boy she had seen in the hallways and detentions a few times before — John Bender, she thought to herself — and he threw her a smirk. The corner of her mouth turned up in a small smile in response as she passed him by. Shaking her coat off, she placed it on the back of her chair and proceeded to put her chin in her hand.

Not a moment later, Richard Vernon entered. "Well, well," he said slowly, looking vaguely pleased, "Here we are! I want to congratulate you for being on time."

Before he could say anything else, Claire, the red haired girl sitting in the front, raised her hand, "Excuse me, sir? I think there's been a mistake. I know it's detention, but, um, I don't think I belong here." Eisley snorted quietly.

Ignoring the girl, Vernon checked his watch, "It is now seven-oh-six. You have exactly eight hours and fifty-four minutes to think about why you're here; to ponder the error of your ways." In front of Eisley, Bender spit and loogie into the air and caught it back in his mouth. Shuddering in disgust, she looked down at her nails. "You may not talk," Vernon continued, pointing at the red haired girl, "You will not move from these seats." The nerdy looking blond boy that she knew to be Brian had been trying to discreetly move to the chair next to him suddenly froze, then shifted back to his original seat awkwardly. "And you," Vernon said, approaching John and pulling away the chair he had placed his feet in, "You will not sleep." With both of Bender's feet back on the ground, Vernon moved to the back of the rows of tables and slid Allison a sheet of lined paper. "Alright, people. We're going to try something a little different today. We are going to write an essay, of no less than a thousand words, describing to me who you think you are."

Eisley groaned quietly and let her head fall to her table in despair. She heard him slide her a piece of paper.

"Is this a test?" Bender asked suddenly, voice even and faintly hostile.

Ignoring the teen, Vernon said, "When I say essay, I mean essay. I do not mean a single word repeated a thousand times. Is that clear, Mister Bender?"

Not looking at Vernon, Bender answered, "Crystal."

"Good. Maybe you'll learn a little something about yourself, Miss Tusie," Vernon said suddenly, making Eisley bring her head up to send him a sarcastic smile. Bender chuckled at her. "Maybe you'll even decide whether or not you care to return."

Unable to resist the urge to make a dig at the assistant principal, Eisley grinned, "Oh, you know it's a yes from me, sir. What can I say, you're irresistible."

"Perfect," he said, although his tone was very much not pleased and he sounded a bit uncomfortable. "You can come back next Saturday."

Raising a two fingered salute, she replied, "Terrific."

Brian raised his hand and stood up, "You know, I can answer that right now, sir. That'd be a no for me, 'cause-"

"Sit down, Johnson," Vernon snapped tiredly.

The boy dropped back down, "Thank you, sir."

"My office is right across the hall," Vernon said, "Any monkey business is ill-advised. Any questions?"

"Yeah," John said as Vernon was about to walk away, "I got a question. Does Barry Manilow know that you raid his wardrobe?" Eisley covered her mouth to conceal her giggle, and John shot her a small smirk.

Vernon, on the other hand, was not laughing. "I'll give you the answer to that question, Mister Bender, next Saturday when you join Miss Tusie. Don't mess with the bull, young man; you'll get the horns." Eisley could almost feel the eyerolls of the rest of her fellow detention detainees as Vernon turned to leave.

"That man," John said once he had left, "is a brownie hound."

For a solid five seconds, Eisley thought that the excitement had ended and silence had finally descended. Then, just as she began to sink into her chair and make herself comfortable, a snapping noice disrupted the quiet. Turning to her left, she could see that Allison, still turned away from her, had lifted her right hand presumably to her mouth.

Immediately, Eisley figured that the girl was biting her fingernails, and she was made certain when Bender spoke and broke the silence by saying, "You keep eating your hand, you won't be hungry for lunch." In retaliation, she spit her thumbnail at him, but completely missed. "I've seen you before, you know," he told her, then turned to Eisley, "And you, too."

"Very observant," Eisley chuckled, then sunk into her seat to try and get comfortable with the following silence she was sure was going to follow the exchange between herself and John. She closed her eyes for all of ten seconds before the silence was once again broken.

"Who do I think I am?" A sudden voice asked quietly, but loud enough so that it disturbed Eisley. "Who are you, who are you?" Eisley opened one eye and spotted Brian looking up and talking to himself, his pen in his mouth. "I'm a walrus." Glancing over at John, the boy realized that he was being watched and removed the pen from his mouth and gave him an uncomfortable smile.

Next, Eisley observed both John and the boy removing their jackets at the same time, making them both pause for a second. Brian stopped, but Bender continued to take off his jacket and put it on the table beside him. After staring at him for a few seconds longer, John turned in his seat and crumpled up his sheet of paper, only to throw it over Claire's head. When nobody acknowledged him, he began singing the bass line to "Sunshine of your Love," even adding a little bit of air guitar.

"I can't believe this is really happening to me," the red haired girl told the blond jock, Andrew, that sat next to her.

"Oh, shit!" John suddenly exclaimed, turning in his seat to look at everyone, "What are we supposed to do if we have to take a piss?"

Turning to look away from him, Claire murmured, "Oh, please." The jock next to her shook his head irritably. Eisley huffed a small laugh.

"If you gotta go, you gotta go," Bender said, and it was followed by the sound of a zipper.

Andrew whirled around to face Bender, "Hey, you're not urinating in here, man."

"Don't talk, don't talk. It makes it crawl back up."

"You whip it out and you're dead before the first drop hits the floor," he threatened.

John froze and leaned forward towards him a little, "You're pretty sexy when you get angry." He finished with a little growl, and gave up on trying to piss on the floor. It was quiet for only a few short seconds before Bender whirled to look at Brian, "Hey, homeboy. Why don't you close that door. We'll get the prom queen and hot stuff behind me impregnated."

"No thanks, pal," Eisley said, but the attention was pulled from her when the red haired girl turned to face Bender, looking furious.

"Hey," Andrew said, annoyed.

"What?" John replied shortly.

"If I lose my temper, you're totaled, man!"

Sarcastically, John bit back, "Totally?"

"Totally."

"Why don't you just shut up?" Claire sneered at John. "Nobody here is interested." John pouted mockingly.

"Really," Andrew agreed, turning back around in his seat, "buttface." Eisley snorted.

"Well, hey, Sporto," John said, "What'd you do to get in here? Forget to wash your jock?"

"Uh, excuse me, fellas? I think we should just write our papers," Brian chimed in, trying to defuse the tension, although he was ignored.

Andrew turned around, yet again, to tell John, "Look, just because you live in here, doesn't give you the right to be a pain in the ass, so knock it off!"

"It's a free country," John replied.

"He's just doing it to get a rise out of you," Claire told Andrew. "Just ignore him."

"Sweets, you couldn't ignore me if you tried," John said, smiling.

Eisley sighed, "Yeah, we know."

Hello everyone! I am so sorry for not posting in a long time. Life has just been very crazy and I do have to admit that I have had very bad writers block.  I hopefully will be able to work through it and be able to give you guys the content you deserve. Much Love!

Chapter 14) The Bomb of a Lifetime

I woke up because of the light that was flooding into my room from my window. I was suddenly aware of the presence that was in my bed. I turned around and I saw Bender still sleeping. I have to admit he looked so peaceful in this moment. He looked gentle and calm. I brought my hand to his face and moved a strand of his long hair. I wished that the world didn’t have to be so cruel to this kid. He didn’t deserve all of it. Granted, he brought some of it on himself, but sometimes it wasn’t warranted.

I leaned up and gave him a kiss on his cheek trying to not wake him up. I got out from under the covers and moved my way out of my room. I didn’t want to wake him up because I don’t think he ever got this good of a sleep, so why should I ruin it. I walked downstairs and moved to the kitchen. I grabbed a bowl and poured myself some cereal. It was Sunday and I had no obligations for the day. I was honestly debating on weather or not just doing nothing all day. My mom wasn’t going to be back until this afternoon, and it was only eight, so I had time before she got back. I wondered where John was going to go today. Was he going to go back home? Was  he just going to walk around the town? I sort of wanted him to hang out with me, but I didn’t want to seem too clingy seeing that we just met yesterday.

It then hit me. We only met yesterday! That’s crazy to me, I feel like I had known him for what felt like my whole life. I told him things about my life that no one knows about. I normally put up some type of wall when I first met people, but with him, it felt like there was no wall. I could tell him anything and it would just be between him and me. He was different. My thoughts were interrupted by footsteps coming down the stairs. I turn around and see John. He was rubbing his eyes, he still looked tired.

“Good Morning.” I say from where I am standing in my kitchen. “Did you want anything for breakfast?”

“Mornin’” He says. I can’t help but acknowledge his sleeping voice. It was raspy and it was kinda hot. I focused back on him. “Whatcha got?”

“Cereal.” I saw as I grab him a bowl from the cabinet and begin to pour him a bowl.

“Thanks.” He reaches for the spoon I pulled out for him and I watch as he devours the food. Does he not eat?

“Slow down, you’re going to get sick, damn!” He looks over at me and I see him let up. “So, what are your plans for the day? Are you going back to your parents place or are you just going to wander around all day?”

“I don’t know yet. I know I should at least make an appearance at my parents' place, but I don’t think I am going to stay there long. What about you? What are you going to do on this wonderful Sunday?” He continues to drink the milk that is left in the bowl.

“I don’t know yet, my mom comes home today, this afternoon, but I can’t stand to be around her sometimes. She can be suffocating.” I grab his empty bowl and mine too, and bring it to the sink to clean them up. “I might just chill at home in the morning, but I was thinking about going for a walk around town later.”

“Yeah?” He asked me in a questioning tone.

“Yeah, I mean if you wanted to join me on my little outing, I was thinking about going out about six-ish. That’s if you wanted to go.” I said nervously. I wanted him to hang out with me, but I didn’t want to pressure him. I watch as he grabs his clothes from last night and his jacket. Was he already leaving.

“Maybe I will. I’ll call yea at five okay? I should get going before my old man starts pounding back some cold ones. He won’t be so mad if he is sober.” He walks over to me and gives me a kiss. “I promise I will call you.” He flashes his arm to me. “I made sure to not wash it off last night.” I blush, he better keep his promise. “Bye sweets.”

“Bye.” I say as he walks out the front door. I walk back upstairs and get ready for when my mom comes home.

A few hours had passed and I was just chilling on the couch in the living room. The time was now 11:50 and my mom would be home any minute. I wondered how her trip went. She could really get under my skin but I also wanted to make sure that the trip went well, seeing that she was going back home to the place where my dad had cheated on her. This whole process had been really hard on her. Getting the divorce and moving away from family, it had been a lot. I then heard her car driving up to the house.

She then walked through the door. She walked into the living room and put down her bags. “Hello. I’m home.”

“Hey, mom. How was the trip?”

“It was good, we can talk more about it later. How about you? How was detention?”

Oh shit, I forgot that I had gotten another detention next weekend. She is not going to be happy about it but there was no way of avoiding it. “Um, okay, but speaking of detention....”

“Mandy Marano! Please tell me you are not about to give me bad news!”

“Well, I can’t. I might have gotten another Saturday detention...”

“Mandy Marano! What did you do? Why? What happened?” I could tell that she was flustered and also disappointed. But I had to give her the answers she was looking for.

“Well I just laughed at a joke and the Vice Principle gave me another one. It isn’t that big of a deal. Don’t worry, I won’t get another one. He was just being a dick.”

“Mandy! Language! And it better not happen again. The next time this happens, you will be grounded until you are thirty years old.” She was oddly being okay about this. Normally she would be blowing her casket and grounding me for a month. What was going on.

I walked over to the kitchen and went to grab some water. She followed me. “So, how was the trip? What happened?”

She walked over towards me and leaned on the cabinets. “It was good. I got to see your grandmother and she wishes you the best. Oh, I also got you a present.”

Okay something wasn’t right. What’s going on here. “Thank you, but what really happened? I can tell you are being way to calm about this trip. Spit it out. What do you have to say.”

She signed. She knew that she wasn’t going to be able to get away with this charade for long. She had to just tell me. “Okay, well don’t freak out when I say this. But I was talking to your dad, and we went out for dinner last night.”

“Mom, no don’t do this! No! No! NO!”

“Mandy let me talk.” I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms. “I was talking to him and I think him and me are going to talk through some things out. I think you should talk to him as well.”

“Are you trying to tell me that you are going to get back with that asshole!? Mom, he cheated on you with one of your closest friends! Don’t! I am not talking to him.” I was disgusted at the thought of this. I know my mom was stuipid but I didn’t think she was this stupid.

“Mandy, I never said I was getting back with him. But he is your dad. We should at least be civial about this and give him a chance to talk to you.”

“I am not talking to him.” I was not going to give in on this situation. The thought of him made me want to vomit.

“Well, you are going to have to talk to him because he is going to be coming to Illinois next weekend. So you are going to have to get over this whole thing Mandy!”

“What the fuck mom!” I was so pissed. She wasn’t giving me a choice on what I wanted to do. “Where is he going to stay? Here? Because I am not going to be anywhere near here next weekend. I am not talking to that cheating dick!”

“Mandy!!! Language! Watch it! You are on thin ice. And you are going to talk to your dad whether you like it or not. He is going to be staying at a local hotel don’t worry. But you have to talk to him!”

“No!”

“Yes!”

I couldn’t be a part of this conversation anymore. I had to leave. I started to walk up the stairs to my room.

“Where are you going?”

“Away from you crazy lady!” I said stomping up the stairs. That’s what she was, crazy. Does she not realize that I am the one that caught him in the act. I was not going to see that man if I didn’t have to. I needed to get away, I needed to be away.

“Mandy!”

I walked into my room and closed the door. I knew my mom wasn’t going to follow because I knew she wouldn’t want to add fuel to the fire. She was so passive and she let others walk over her. The worst part is I knew my dad knew that as well. She says that they were just talking but I know that he was going to say things to suck her back in. I was not going to be around to watch that happen. I wasn’t my moms biggest fan but I didn’t want to see her get hurt again. I also just didn’t want to see that asshole that ruined my family. I put on some music and laid in my bed to drown out the rest of the world around me.
