This is one of my favorite paintings I’ve done. I had recently picked up this hexagonal canvas from my local craft store and had a couple of paint colors I mixed for “Curious” that I had an excess of and wanted to use up. So I decided to use the brick-like pattern I had used in “Curious” but with different colors, remixing and remixing those leftover paints to create a beautiful blend of greens, blues, pinks, purples, and white. It now tends to remind me of the book “The Rainbow Fish”, a childhood classic by Marcus Pfister, hence the title of “Scales”.

I FORGOT TO POST THESE WHOOPS

As I'm sure were all aware that Liam Payne from popular boy band One Direction has recently passed.

Obviously this was instant news and the praise and tribute posts stated to flood all over the internet including from his own bandmates Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Harry Styles as to be expected.

But other tribute posts from 'rival' bands such as Big Time Rush, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Nsync, Backstreet Boys, and even The Wanted (well Tom Parkers widow), which was One Directions main rival back in the day; their BSB to their Nsync if you will were posted as well.

I would like to point how much of a big deal this is. All these bands have been compared to each other at one point or another no matter what generation there from and fans have even started wars over which boy band was better or more iconic and what not. Yet they're all showing their love for Liam and their support for the other members.

I think we should take this as a sign not to take being a fan so seriously. I enjoy all the bands I mentioned above yet I obviously have my favorites, its okay to have your favorites too but there's no need for all the twitter fights, and hate posting.

Rest In Peace Liam 💞🕊️ you will ALWAYS be an important part of our childhoods you are dearly missed 💔

"Curious" by Joey Parker

Let’s start from the beginning, shall we?

This was my first painting, and still my largest to date. Back in May of 2022, my family decided to take down a set of closet doors made of hollow wood, and I knew I didn’t want it to go to waste. At this time, I had already been thinking about getting into painting for a while, as my dad had gotten into it about a year prior, so we had plenty of supplies in the house. So I decided to cut one door into two canvases for myself to experiment with painting on.

There was the busy work, of cutting, sanding, cleaning, and priming the larger of the two pieces, and then there was the planning of the painting.

I had been doing this doodle for a long time, where I drew loops in one continuous line throughout the page, then filled each section with different colors or patterns (or both!), here are some earlier examples;

I knew I wanted to see if I could translate this style into a painting, and sometime in the process of coming up with the color scheme and patterns, I decided I wanted this painting to border on the line (or to some, pass the line) of being an eyesore. I wanted your attention to be drawn all over the place, for it to practically make you dizzy just to take it all in. So that’s what I set out to do.

It took me about 3 months to complete this painting, during which time I was listening to a lot of Franz Ferdinand, particularly their greatest hits record “Hits to the Head”, which they were touring to promote at the time (I went to the show in Philadelphia on August 12th, what a fantastic show!). One of the songs on the compilation album called “Curious” was one of my favorites, which is why I decided to title my painting after it. I was curious if I could turn my casual, aimless doodles into an intricate painting, I was curious if I’d enjoy painting in the first place, and it turns out, I did. 

Though the more I paint and expand my style, the less I feel attached to this painting, I really like that it displays the roots of my artistic style.

Am I the only one who wishes the shows and movies space werewolves, sing it loud, raise the roof, sing it louder, and voltage from Liv and Maddie were real shows?

I can't be the only one

I would kill to see those kinds of shows. I would be like Joey and Parker and totally fangirling over those shows SOOOOO HARD.

Also, I would not hate it if there was a drama called Linda and Heather.

I love how when Peter Parker & Kamala Khan briefly got body-swapped during Eve L. Ewing's arc of Ms. Marvel Team-Up, Peter actually developed a taste for Strawberry Cotton Candy flavored lip gloss (amusingly to Kamala's dismay)!

It certainly adds more evidence to the fan-theories that Spidey is actually trans-femme!
