Ciclo Zia Tibia 2023: Dead Heat

Horror Movie Review: Dead Heat (1988)
While LAPD detectives Roger and Doug are investigating a spree of crime committed by dead criminals, Roger is killed. He is brought back to life by a resurrecting machine used on these criminals. Then the real case begins…
Dead Heat is a 1988 American buddy cop action zombie comedy film directed by Mark Goldblatt. Detectives Roger Mortis and Doug Bigelow are called to the scene of a rather violent jewellery store robbery. The robbers take on a squadron of police in a messy shootout, but neither seems affected when they are riddled with bullets. Thanks to the combined, albeit extreme measures of Mortis and Bigelow,…

Dead Heat didn’t make a big splash and is remembered as a big miss but I think it’s way more fun than that. Someone’s making zombie crooks with a lightning machine and Treat Williams is rapidly decaying while seeking revenge for his own murder. McGavin and Price always welcome presences. Joe Piscopo is also in this.

Who's the 17th century equivalent of Joe Piscopo?
Tumblr media
It's entertaining for the audience of course, but the constant references to 20th century Earth on Star Trek are a bit funny seen from the outside. Many of the crew members were not even born on Earth, which is only one tiny planet among many. The 20th century is so far away culturally and technologically. Imagine if today the ISS were manned with people who are just obsessed with 17th century Liechtenstein. They listen to Baroque music every day, don period garb for some make believe play every chance they get and explain everything with references to the 30 year war, the Little Ice Age and the witch burnings.
*The Romulans annex a star system in the Neutral Zone* Picard: *in a jovial tone* It looks like we have found our own Prince Johann Adam Andreas, haven't we, Number One? Riker: Aye Sir. But this time Schellenberg will fight back. *The entire crew understands the reference*

On another Season Eight show, Al is rejected as a game show contestant despite winning the audition. Why was he sent packing? Audience research didn’t like Al’s personality. ”It was somewhere between Joe Piscopo and the fat kid who played on Head of the Class.” (For those of you keeping score at home, that kid grew up to be Quiet on Set’s Nickolodeon villain, Dan Schneider.)
