The moment the opposite is proven, they'll be thrown in prison and whatever career they have kind of end there. Now I don't know about any other kpop group but I do know that in no world BTS will go to a place like that, which we know dang well stress them out and they want it to be over as soon as possible, and make two of them who are supposedly a couple, enlist, while they plan on coming back as a group. So... the translation on X says "a page of youth and romance". I did read in the comments that it can be translated as "bromance" though.. which falls in line with what we've seen I think. My Korean is level zero, so I'm always hesitant when it comes to these things.

Your "feeding" actually inspired my former post about Jm and Jk feeding Jkkrs. I think we've all been talking a lot about fanservice, feeding, real connections, company content, etc.. a lot these last couple of months. No wonder with one side of fandom wanting the JmJk travel show to be a romantic private getaway, and the rest of us seeing that this wasn't that. I mean, there's obviously a team with them, plans were made.. there is no way around that.

I think what's most likely, is that Jm thought about what he wanted to do for army. Somehow the idea of doing a travel show with Jk reëntered his thoughts, he got excited, Jk got excited, the company got real excited and made it happen. That's not a bad thing. It does not undermine their friendship if this is what happened. Things can easily be two things at once. So this being for army doesn't mean Jk and Jm aren't also actually close. It being recorded inbetween Jk's promo is perhaps ill timing, but it's also still very possible that Jk really wanted to do it. He loves Jm (platonically.. don't get excited Jkk lurkers), he loves doing stuff for army, he's a hard worker. I think that literally is it.

Now the company involvement is a different thing ofcourse. Because we know they don't shy away from editing stuff a certain way and adding captions that might be suggestive. I think the company definitely plays into shipping and shipping wars.

I mean, as Tkkrs we don't really expect content like this. It's the same way I never expected Jk and Tae to enlist together the way Jm and Jk did. There's just boundaries to what they can do, we know that. Aside from Jkk shenaniganse, I love that Jm and Jk enlisted together. I think they are such a huge source of comfort to each other, and I think knowing they would go together probably soothed some of the unease they were feeling while preparing for this.

Dipping my feet into a pile of dogsh*t again: JM Tattoo discourse

Okay I absolutely hate bringing this up again, and I wish I could physically, gently hold jkkers hands when they type about this topic again. Maybe hold them hands and look into your eyes with a pleading look. Let's put an end to this, shall we?

One, if you are choosing to 100% believe JK's own words, you are doing the right thing and you can stop reading this as you have already made up your mind.

Now that they are gone, let's consider these facts:

1. JK is an artist. No, he's like a real proper painter and everything. A good one at that. Have you seen him digitally making letters with that cartoonish font? Yeah.

2. JK is a videographer, video editor, photographer, vlogger even. And he's good. You must have heard of GCFs right?

3. Before tattoos are made, your tattoo artist will give you a preview of how they would look. At least you yourself would think and visualise how it would look on your hands. A very visible part of your body. He knew how it would look and be perceived.

4. Crossword formation: JK has a crossword tattoo on his arm. Even primary school children can solve crosswords you know.

5. The JM: Jimin has used "#JM" and "#JMJK" on bts_twt posts since forever. JM in relation to BTS has always been short for Jimin. I don't think I need to bring up the fact the n number of times JK has referred to Jimin as JM.

6. JK is a man of few words. He doesn't churn out lyrics or words or life changing sentences like RM on the daily. His form of expression has mostly been art, music, videos, tattoos, outfits.

About the implications of the tattoo if it is indeed about Jimin:

1. Why would an idol ever reveal that he has his bandmate's name tattooed on his arm if he knows there are very serious shippers in the fandom who would definitely blow this up till the media puts out an article next day?

2. What's wrong with having a bandmate's name on your hand? Now this part is most important to me.

What's wrong with having the name of a man on your hands? The same man with whom he spent some of the worst and best times of his life over the past 10+ years. The same person who JK has repeatedly implied understands him, "we click", and spends a whole lot of time together for a fact. The same person JK goes to spend time with, to share silence and do nothing, after a gruelling day of rehearsals and photoshoots. The same person who he trusts enough to take care of his mental health for possibly the most difficult time of his life for 18 months. If I loved tattoos and had a friend like that, I wouldn't hesitate to tattoo their name on me either.

I heard that 2 members from Ateez, who consider themselves bffs and soulmates also have matching tattoos. There you go. It's not that weird now, is it?

Simply because he didn't want to. They are very very aware of the media. Not just k-media. Global media as well. Imagine how the fandom would react if he was that biased towards just 1 member. They'll be doing the usual SCT (screaming, crying, throwing up).

I'll put the JM tattoo issue on the same shelf as GCF tokyo. Something he did despite knowing the implications and how it would be perceived. But did it anyway. JK just does the stuff he wants to, guys. High time you all realise that.

I'm not the type of person who is easily swayed by theories. Either a theory makes sense or it does not. If there are no huge gaps in a theory, it makes sense to me. This is one of those.

Remember how people said JK was lying on Suchwita when he was asked the 'dream' question by Suga and replied he wasn't aware of this segment... because he watched the entire Jimin Suchwita? WRONG. He didn't watch the entire one. In the last segment of Suchwita, our JK was already distracted and went to the kitchen to do something. Then he came back for the ending scene. He actually didn't know about the last questions Suga asks his guests. This is one example of why you shouldn't go with everything the jkkers say.

Anyhoo...i digress.

Final thoughts:

The fandom and even shippers didn't react this strongly when people came up with the BS theory about how the tattoos represented all members. That theory became BS right when JK said that he wished the letters in 'army' tattoo weren't so minimal. The 'A' without the line in the middle was never 'V'. If JK had foresight, the 'A' would have had the line, maybe with a tail and horns on it and flames coming out. You know what I mean. The OT7 theory went out the window just like that.

Just because there's a possibility it means 'JM', doesn't prove or disprove they are 'real'. What it does prove is that they are the best and closest duo in Bangtan. They don't care how their actions towards each other are perceived because they are THAT secure about their friendship/bond. Jimin didn't care when he openly admitted multiple times in 2020 that he spent nights with JK, woke up and saw JK etc. Neither did JK care when he keeps saying they do nothing at night (once in the early years (2014-15), another time when he was asked about the most memorable time of the tokyo trip and it was jm playing all night on phone, and most recently - going to Jimin's room for no reason other than to do nothing (during PTD)).

i believe hybe is also hitting two birds in one stone with that travel show. one is to generate more profit featuring their biggest soloists, and the other is to appease fans about whatever was happening with jk's career with the help of jimin's presence: that nothing has changed, that they're as tight as ever.

it's no secret jm & jk has been one of the closest pairs in the group; they're obviously still in good terms and they probably liked the idea of the travel show since they have traveled together before, but this show could cement the idea that if jmjk are in good terms, we fans are wasting our time worrying about jimin and talking about unfair treatment.

this may work for some but many of jimin's fans have long lost patience with hybe that they'll never be swayed back. they're the ones that are ready to burn hybe at the stake at any time. i can only hope that hybe seriously reevaluates their strategies/priorities and changes before it's too late (quite farfetched now) or simply just go bankrupt after bts is done with them 🤞

Hi Euna! So as an international Army I've always seen other international Army saying that the level of platonic physical and sometimes emotional intimacy we see between BTS is common in South Korea and they often times use that reasoning to downplay the idea of a romantic relationship between jikook.

I saw this talking point being used this week with the jikook hickey saga. People commenting that it's no big deal in the grand scheme of things. Saying that using this as some kind of proof for jikook is nonsense. Comparing jikook interactions to things like jimin kissing tae on the hand or tae kissing namjoon on the side of the head.

Now personally I think there's a difference between how jikook interact with each other and how they individually interact with the rest of the guys. I also think that people are leaning heavily on the idea that jikook interactions are normal south Korean skinship activities between male friends to debunk the idea that their interactions are romantic.

But if that's the case, why do so many Korean army's interpret jikook interactions as something more than platonic? Wouldn't they know the difference between friendly skinship and romantic skinship? Is there a difference?

I guess my question is, what can you say about the people who lean on skinship to excuse away everything jikook do with each other? Is it just us using our western eyes to view something not of our culture and misinterpreting? Is south Korean male skinship really as close as we think it is?

Would love to hear your views on this as someone familiar with both cultures intimately. Love your deep dives btw!

Firstly, I truly wonder what gives some international Army the confidence to speak on Korean culture so freely when they're not Korean themselves. Like no, you are not an expert on another culture's social norms just because you're a fan of their celebrities. No matter how invested you are.

I completely understand and respect not wanting to 'ship' Jungkook and Jimin. But when you start undermining their relationship and speaking on things which you have no authority to speak about just to push forth a narrative that makes you comfortable, that's when we have a problem.

Yes, it can be said that in some cases, skinship between male friends are more commonplace and normalized than it is in the west. But as with any aspect of culture, its nuances and boundaries are complex and situational.

A younger dongsaeng* having a drink with his hyung is perfectly normal. No one would bat an eye.

A younger dongsaeng having a drink with his hyung, lifting his hyung in a bridal carry, spinning him around until said hyung got dizzy enough to demand he be let down—which he expressed by biting said dongsaeng on the neck, significantly hard/long enough to form a bruise—emphatically does not fall under normal levels of skinship. No matter how selectively you pick and choose parts of Korean culture to use for your own means, and even if you choose not to read anything romantic into what happened, that doesn't change the fact that it's just plain weird. They're weird for what they did, and Jin and Tae's reactions to them re-telling their story are further proof to that.

I guess in conclusion, I would like to respectfully ask that if you're not Korean, to not drag our culture into a discussion that you're not qualified to participate in. It comes across as silly and ignorant and frankly—is quite annoying.

You have to admit that they have a good imagination. They are masters at making other people believe their fallacies. To see how many or all of them repeat things like: Jungkook has made dozens of GCFs with Tae as the main character! and they believe them and argue with other people that it is true when they have no absolute proof is impressive.

what's more, they are able to use their own arguments as defence or as weapons, for example:

tkk 5 months ago: tkk is real! They are simply a private couple, they don't need to post pictures together to prove they are together. They don't need to show off together or do things together in front of the camera because at the end of the day they go home together.

tkkrs during bts holidays: ohh tkk uploaded a photo together! They're free, obviously, the fact that they would post a picture is our confirmation that they're together. Otherwise, why would they upload them? Look at tkk interacting in X video! They are REALLLLLLLLL!!!!

Obviously, jikook isn't real otherwise why wouldn't either of them upload pics with each other on their Instagrams? They are distant etc. etc. etc.

I think JMJK weren't roommates before because they didn't have the relationship they have now, that much is obvious. They were friends but not this close, and JM clearly got along with HS since they were very young. JK is actually someone who prefers being alone, and as the anon said, JM is someone who prefers not being alone. So that was (or is) where they have their differences. JK has spent most of this time without roommates, while everyone else had one. That should tell you everything tbh.

PS: Same anon as JK never having a roommate. Jikookers are ilogically scared to admit that JMJK didn't always have this relationship and i don't understand why. Saying they weren't always together 24/7 and that JK did reject JM a lot of times in so many ways it's not slander. I agree, they definitely didn’t have the same relationship or closeness before. There are no two people who would remain exactly the same through 7-8 years and not change. But I don’t think JK ever really rejected and pushed JM away. Sure, he’s been like that on camera in the early days, which I do believe was all just playful teasing of a shy boy, but they’ve been close since the beginning. Again, I’ve only been here for 9 months, so I haven’t consumed all of the content in real-time. 

This is from their first log together in February 2013, and the heart eyes were huge. I’m not saying anything happened between them then! I’m a firm believer that, if it did, it didn’t while JK was underage. All I’m saying is, they had a connection and a closeness from the start, and that’s too underrated in the fandom.
