My first AG doll! 🌼

A little while ago I posted this ⬇️

Here's an update for anyone who's interested. I finally got the doll! Shipping from the US to my country was almost 50 dollars but it was definitely worth it.

I believe she's the JLY 22 and she was in fairly good condition. Her lip color had faded a bit and her hair is kinda dry and a bit damaged but I don't mind for the price od 25 bucks plus shipping.

I fixed her up with a magic eraser and a steamer, and repainted her lips.

I gave her the name Višnja, pronounced veeshnya. It's the name of a fruit, in English you'd call it sour cherry, but here in Croatia it's also a feminine name. We also have names such as Dunja(quince) and Jagoda(strawberry)

The black & white outfit is my favorite. I made the shirt using the same fabric from one of my favorite shirts I shortened for myself.

A few of the pieces didn't fit quite right because I made these using measurements I found online without ever seeing an AG doll irl. The last outfit will have to be adjusted, but I'm happy overall.

I got a TLC jly #29 on the goodwill site for 6$ (25 after shipping and handling) and she arrived today!

These pictures don't show her damage very well, but she has some scuffs, a poorly make-up-ed face, dirty eyes, painted nails, and dirty hair.

I'm not sure how I'll clean the eyes, because that scares me, so i would love some tips! but I think the rest shouldn't be too difficult. I'm not sure if I'll end up keeping her, I don't really need another classic mold... but she is very pretty! And I might fall in love with her once shes all clean and dressed up, I guess we'll see!

Random (Semi Serious/Adult? Idk) Truly Me Headcanons GO!

1. JLY 8 (auburn hair green eyes bangs, classic) plays a large brass instrument, maybe French Horn. She’s a little weird and doesn’t have a fashion sense, so she wears those classic weird girl black fabric rubber sole clog shoes. She writes fanfiction. She probably grows up to be an English teacher.

2. JLY 21 (pigtails and pin curls, green eyes) is a horse girl and wants to be a dressage teacher. She’s very businesslike and serious, and she intimidates people. But she’s not mean- though sometimes it feels hard to please her.

3. JLY 45 (straight black hair, bangs, dark tone addy mold) has a sardonic and elevated sense of humor she keeps throughout her life. I’m thinking of a specific kind of “too cool for you” internet character, but in a good way. She listens to Lana and was popular on tumblr, but now she’s extremely self aware.

4. JLY 58 (curls, afro, addy mold) is incredibly shy and quite nervous, she’s unsure of herself. She can also be a little too trusting, yet at the same time a hard shell to crack. She doesn’t like to talk about her emotions, but she has a lot of them.

5. JLY 62 (sonali mold, medium tone, mid length dark brown hair w side part) has been under academic pressure since like, day one, and she did well with it- she’s a lawyer now working like crazy, but she never really had a moment to explore herself, so sometimes she seems almost artificially constructed. You can’t figure out who she is on her own time.

6. JLY 83 (tight blonde curls, light josefina mold, brown eyes) is a perfectionist, and group projects with her stress you out. She delegates responsibility well, but everything has to be done according to her specifications, and you’re not sure you’re up to the task.

7. JLY 56 (Lanie lookalike) does some kind of weird sport like shotput or long jumping, something within the field part of track and field. She’s good at it, too. She’s always cheerful and energetic. She’s very predictable and maybe a little basic- you could guess her Starbucks order from looking at her.

8. JLY 25 (classic mold with dark eyes, dark hair) immigrated from somewhere in the Caucasus and ending up fitting well into American culture, becoming a fashion forward, culture conscious young adult. She kept her accent, though, and you can tell she doesn’t try too hard to Americanize- she likes being a little different and enjoys different perspectives. She always has her nails done.

9. JLY 18 (Addy mold textured hair with bangs) She cut those bangs herself and doesn’t know why, because she’s been growing her hair out since forever.

10. JLY 53 (light josefina mold, blond shoulder length hair, brown eyes) is blind and has been since birth. She’s majoring in some form of art, maybe ceramics, and she’s really into creative design of everyday items- mugs with thumbprint holds, shelves that fold out of walls, custom plates with chip and dip holders.

american girl fans and collectors alike: i've got dolls for sale!

(ignore if you don’t like self-promotion.) you read that right!! i've fixed up a few dolls recently, and they’re for sale at my eBay here.

i am selling a tenney grant and a just like you #25 (there was a #29, but she has sold already!). tenney’s freckles have been removed with a magic eraser, and #25 has had a haircut. #25′s is not a noticeable cut and is trimmed on the very bottom layer of her hair. image descriptions are all in alt text.

i need to take new photos of tenney that tumblr will actually let me add (she’s a doll, this is not an inappropriate post, but she is not shipping with an outfit), however, here’s one photo and there are more on her eBay listing :)

sorry if you don’t allow questions like this, but I’m currently watching a JLY 25 on Mercari. she looks so sweet and I think it’s because she’s a JLY circa ≈ 2008, back when I was a kid. she’s pulling on my heartstrings!

my thing is, the seller is asking $50, and I’m just not sure if that’s a good price. I know that 25s have been around awhile and probably aren’t rare in any way. do you think this is a fair price? thanks much!

Hi! I think your instincts are right. #25 is super common, and $50 is a bit much if she doesn't come with lots of other stuff. Have you tried making an offer? Mercari lets you do that and most sellers are pretty good about accepting reasonable offers, especially if the item has been posted for sale for a long time. If it were me and nobody wanted my doll at $50, I absolutely would accept an offer of around $40 after a while of not making a sale. Any dollar amount is better than $0 and no interested buyers.

hey friends! i found out that i'm receiving a gift card to ag and i was thinking about putting it towards purchasing a doll. i know this is a very broad question but who do you think i should get? i wasn't planning on rebuilding my collection until i move out, but i don't know what else i would want to buy with the gift card 😅

i was thinking of JLY 25 or Melody. i would consider other historicals but the only thing holding me back is that i would have to find the old meet outfits OBVIOUSLY bc i hate the new ones with a passion

Introduction post for the girls!! As of today, I have 10 but two more are on the way. (both jly but i’m making them historical !) Let’s jump in!

Rosalie (JLY 33) and Harper (JLY 55). These two go everywhere together. Rosalie is a cheerleader and does ballet and Harper is in a band, but they always have time for each other despite their busy schedules! I got Rosalie in 2012 and Harper in 2013.

Kanani, Kit, and Ruthie! Kit was my first doll and my lookalike for years. I got her in 2009 along with Ruthie a few months later. I got Kanani when I went to the AG Store Atlanta in 2011 (and impulsively chopped her hair 2 months later :(( ) I’m looking for a new wig for Kanani so I can rewig her.

My GOTY 2010 Lanie! She was my first GOTY, and she’s my animal lover. I love her collection, and while I only have the meet outfit, I’d love to have most of her outfits someday. Theyre all so cute!

Leila (JLY 38) and Anne (JLY 25). I want to rename Anne, so if you have any suggestions please leave them below! These girls love to travel. When I got them in 2014 (Leila in AG store Columbus and Anne for Christmas) I took them everywhere with me and never separated them. Anne loves to go on picnics with Leila, and Leila loves to go to the skate park with Anne. Of all my dolls, they have the easiest to manage hair but the hardest to do hairstyles on.

Last but definitely not least, Sam (beforever Samantha) and Caroline. These two love to garden, sit in the park and read, sew together, and play with their dolls. Since I haven’t stuck with the historical theme of Kit and Ruthie, these are the only girls I havent modernized. They aren’t lonely with each other’s company but hopefully with the arrival of my two new Victorian era girls, they’ll have more girls to talk to!
