#jl looking at Danny and then Dan: is this a god thing???

I was taking a moment after finishing reading DP: agit , you know, just processing the adventure and the potential that this story can give to DP fandom when I suddenly got whiplash by a visual of that old video of some guy in a military vehicle and his dad yelling at him.

But it twisted to be Dan having destroyed half the world before Danny comes in with his hands on his hips like a disappointed/angry mom and yelling at Dan to stop trying to destroy the world again and Dan screaming back “YOU’RE NOT MY MOM!”

And Danny, not missing a beat, slaps back, “I AM your mom, and you will get down here right now!”

But I’m going to make this dpxdc cause I like it and no one can stop me.

So here we have Dan creating havoc, and throwing things, very upset. Being truly evil and scary; striking fear into the JL and heroes, when in comes Danny Fenton.

Not even Phantom.

Just Danny Fenton in all his small — taking after his mother — glory. He is walking in with hands on his hips in that perfect disappointed mom pose and glaring up at Dan.

Dan who was currently sneering over the heroes of this world, and either too cocky to notice the heroes attention splitting between himself and something else, or truly unaware of the human behind him.

“DAN PHANTOM!” Danny yells, “You get down here right now!”

The villain — Dan Phantom — spins fast in the air, red eyes large and loosing a percentage of that evil charm before it returns with a snarl. “YOU’RE NOT MY MOM!”

“I AM your mom, and you will listen to me; get down here right now!”

Dan, in a rather uncharacteristic expectation from what the heroes knew of him this entire three days of destruction, throws his head back and yells.

The sound was filled with teenage rebellion. And then, miraculously, Dan floated down to Danny, with a very upset pout.

The Justice League (Especially Justice League Dark) are full on Panicking. They kidnapped the children of a world ending being. It would be bad enough if they were teenagers (as proven when someone takes one of Batman’s kids). But they’re babies. Literal babies!

Batman doesn’t even know what a contingency for this is because he never thought it would happen.

What would he even do? Try to kill the rightfully angry parent for trying to get his kids back? Even if he succeeded somehow that would make the kids parentless. Bruce has parental trauma ok? He can’t inflict that one another kid, even if they might not remember. (It’s his one weakness when it comes to contingencies).

Constantine is curled up in the corner, praying. The JL think they broke him.

 A cult summons the ghost king. Except they don’t. Instead they get these tiny white-haired triplets of toddlers blinking at the summoning circle looking confused. 

 They’ve gotten the ghost princes and princess instead. 

 The very young princes and princess who are none too pleased and going to cause problems on purpose for both rogues and heroes alike. As godlings de-aged into their ghost age are like to do. 

 Meanwhile in the Realms, Pariah is staring down at where his trio of ghost toddlers that Clockwork had handed him when he had first woken up and was still groggy just disappeared from. He looks over at Fright Knight, his dearest brother, who looks just as shocked. 

 Clockwork is going to kill them both if they don’t get the kids back now.

That recent OP Danny post got me thinking, so fuckit, it's ask time: What if the JL/Avengers/Other Supers meet Danny because he razed through their ranks while being controlled/hypnotized/blackmailed? Just completely out of left field and the supers are freaking the fuck out because who and what the fuck is this and how did they NOT NOTICE a being this powerful fly completely under their radar??? I imagine that this happened in the Dan timeline tbh, just getting fucking rekt out of nowhere.

I'm just imagining Freakshow succeeding in skipping town with Danny in tow, and his heists just get more insane since he has this teenaged nuclear bomb at his disposal

like he's hitting up banks in Gotham and Metropolis and nobody can lay hands on this thief nobody has even seen him, half of the Justice League has had their territory hit but nobody could catch the guy, not even Superman

but Freakshow has a pretty obvious mo and Batman is used to dealing with clown bullshit so some small freaky niche circus showing up in town would immediately be on his radar in case it's a Joker Thing

I'm just imagining Batman checking things out and getting his ass kicked because he is Not Prepared For This, he was ready for invisible and intangible but absolutely none of the other stuff, but since Danny had struggled before against Freakshow's commands I figure he would always be able to stop himself short of killing anyone

because that's the real clincher here, Danny can sometimes temporarily break out of the control, or at least fight it just enough to avoid doing something entirely against his nature, like when he was forced to push Sam off the highwire but immediately flew down to rescue her

Danny might be OP as hell but Freakshow isn't, he's limited by where Danny draws the line, and he knows he can't push too hard because it might actually be enough for Danny to break his hold, and he can't risk that

Batman, being the ace detective that he is, would absolutely notice that Danny is holding back. Kid's a powerhouse that took him by surprise and could have killed him easy in that first hit but he let's him get away alive? fishy, super fishy

bro starts looking into Circus Gothica's tour history and of course finds the pattern of thefts following the circus everywhere, but the first sighting of the white haired kid shows up in a town called Amity Park, and Bats has heard of this town, ofc he's heard of this town it's BATMAN

Danny's history in Amity Park is still as a menace around the time of the Freakshow episode, so Bats wouldn't have a clear idea just yet on Danny's personal history from before he joined the circus, but things he probably would pick up are that a) he has no body count and b) no real history of theft before the circus hit town

I figure that a lot of the reason Dan wipes everyone out so easily in his timeline is because he has the element of surprise on his side, hence how Danny got the best of Bats in their fight, but Batman's strength is always in his cunning and his gadgets, anti-ghost tech exists, and he would have a number of interesting ways to utilise it

so when he finally makes the connection between ghosts and the circus thefts, he starts prepping, and once Batman starts prepping you're fucked

Danny was officially freaking out.

He wasn’t safe in Amity anymore, no Ecto-Entity was.

The government had declared him a non-person, slated for experimentation and destruction.

Danny knew going through a city with a hero was asking for trouble. If he was caught the hero was legally required to hand him over to the GIW.

Danny didn’t have a choice. The only safe place for Danny was the zone. He just needed to build a portal to get to it. Lex Corps was the closest place that had the tech he needed.

Danny didn’t know how Superman clocked him as a ghost. He hadn’t used any of his powers since leaving Amity and had built an ecto suppressor out of the Spector Deflector so he wouldn’t be tracked. He hadn’t even gotten close to Lex Corps before Superman clocked him.

Superman was following him. Danny didn’t have much of a choice but to run. As long as Danny didn’t use any of his more ghostly powers he could play off being a meta, right? Maybe he could out fly the hero? I mean how fast can Superman be, right?

Superman can admit that he was a little awkward when he was first introduced to Connor. It had taken them both a while to get comfortable with each other and fall into roles that fit. So when he spots another clone running around Metropolis, he makes it his mission to take him in asap. He's not going to make the same mistakes he made with Connor.

Clark is completely oblivious to the fact that Danny and the death god the Justice League is looking for are the same person.

After crashing, Danny transforms back into a human, cutting off any trackable energy the JL could follow, thus leaving them confused as several members of the Justice League Dark work to figure out what happened and set up various sensors so they can track down this potential threat.

Clark, meanwhile, eventually makes his way back to the farm to meet the kid his parents have been talking about. Danny's a bit nervous about meeting someone new, but lets a few small things slip to Clark, namely that he has powers and he wasn't in the best of homes prior to being picked up by the Kent's.

Clark, more than a bit concerned for this child, keeps coming around to see him. He brings over the rest of his family so Danny can talk to people closer to his age.

Over time, Danny opens up more and more, explaining how he gained his powers from a lab accident, how he had to hide the fact he had them from his parents due to their beliefs and practices, how he was left to defend his city, maybe even his entire world, from various rogues to the point he was running on little sleep some nights and failing his classes. He talks about how many of the people he protected saw him as an enemy, and the government even put out laws to give themselves the right to experiment on him. He talks about fighting the Ghost King and taking his place after he pulled his entire town into another dimension. He talks about Dan and his fear of becoming him, that one small mistake could lead to him turning out for the worse. He talks about how he misses his family, but at the same time is relieved he doesn't have to sit through another presentation about how his parents plan to rip him apart molecule by molecule.

Clark talks too, eventually letting Danny know he's Superman. Explaining how he's had to learn to control his powers from a young age to make sure he never hurt anyone. Explaining how he became a paragon, and the standards everyone has held him to. How he's made mistakes, some with worse impacts than others. How he's let his enemies get the better of him. How he's hurt someone for being born. How he's seen his own dark future, where he lets 'the right thing' become something much more twisted. And how he's still doing his best to make up for all his faults, working with a team to make things better.

Eventually, Danny trusts Clark. And after keeping it hidden for so long, he shows him his ghost half. The two share a nice moment, taking a flight around the countryside, enjoying the stars, Danny sharing how he's always wanted to be an astronaut as Clark describes the other planets he's been to.

Of course, Danny turning into a ghost just so happened to trigger every alarm and scanner the Justice League and Justice League Dark set up. And they just so happen to track him down to the farm town of Smallville. Surely Superman can help them stop what must be an intergalactic threat hiding out in his hometown.

In a fight, skulker accidentally throws Danny through a natural portal, and now Danny is stuck at Pluto, what the hell you bony bastard?! So now he has to fly all the way back to earth and hope the satellites don’t pick him up, but it’s actually Hal Jordan who sees him, and when later telling the justice league about a glowing boy in space who doesn’t need to breath and definitely wasn’t a lantern, zatanna cuts him off to mention the urgent need of addressing the insane amounts of dead following what feels like an insanely powerful god of death that definitely wasn’t in this dimension the day before. Bats is obviously the first one to notice they’re talking about the same person.

Back with Danny, he can’t seem to find his way around the states with how tired that flight made him, so he crashed down onto a farm on accident, while two sweet parents see this glowing boy fall from the sky and decided yeah. Might as well have another.

Clark, meanwhile, has no clue that the god of death sending the league into chaos is the same kid his parents have been wanting him to meet back at the farm.

I swear to god the grin that crossed my face when I thought of Vlad getting his ass beat was the highlight of my day.

Because yeah, if I were to list Vlad’s crimes off the top of my head it looks pretty bad.

-The video surveillance of a teenager

-Stranding Danny and his mom in an attempt to force Maddie to love him and force Danny to be his son

-The cloning of a teenager

-The multiple murder attempts on Jack

-His slander on Phantom which ended with him shooting at Danny

-Rigging an election

-Vlad trying to control Danny’s life and therefor every amity park teenagers life when he became mayor.

-Nocturn (You can’t tell me there wasn’t national news coverage on that crap)

- Literally robbed his way into being a billionaire

-Red huntress

- Every single Plasmius sighting

-Is a fucking super Villain

And when you compare that with Danny’s current record of

-Is one of the only competent hero’s in the town

-is a dumb teenager with no mentor

-Was mind controlled

-Superpower mishaps

-Got framed

-Cheated on a test once

I love drama as much as the next guy but the only way I can see someone actually attacking Danny is if they don’t know why Danny became Dan because Vlad did hide away for several years in that timeline. Dan looks and acts more like Vlad than he does Danny. To any hero that looks into present Phantom for more than a second he’s just severely overworked, stressed, untrained and has almost zero support while everyone’s trying to kill him. To them he’s just a kid who needs support to stop him from breaking down and confiding in his evil godfather.

Killing Vlad would cause less problems.

There’s also more substance in having Danny watch a group of adults do their job and take his side from the start. With no death threats, no battles caused by misunderstandings, and no blame for things he didn’t do. JL members trying to mentor him while Danny’s hissing like a feral cat because ‘who tf are you?’ Danny wouldn’t trust them at all.

I have seen too many posts where a time traveling member of the JL decides to kill Danny to prevent Dan from happening and not nearly enough where they decide to kill Vlad for the same reason.

Even if a hero was pushed to the point of preemptively killing one of the two people Dan was made from in order to prevent his creation, why would they pick the one who is currently both a hero and a kid instead of the one who's already a villain and a grown ass adult?

Also, it would be so much more fun to read about Vlad getting hunted down by Booster Gold or scrambling to try and stay one step ahead of the world's fastest man while desperately trying to figure out which of his evil schemes they found out and got this hero's attention and pissed them off this much.

Was it bugging his nemesis's house? He can see how that probably looks bad out of context, but he swears the video surveillance of a teenager's bedroom was regular supervillain creepiness, not other types of creepiness!

OK since my previous post got more interest than expected and my ADHD brain kept running overnight, have some more. As always free for anyone to turn into a full story.

The amount of similarities between Dr Who and Danny Phantom are actually pretty funny when you think about it, and Danny would be the kind of guy to just casually let slip information on previous 'minor' events . If you combine that with misunderstandings and miscommunication. Well. Shenanigans ensure. Danny IS a gremlin. Dani comes by it naturally after all. The JL would freak out pretty quickly.

To list a few ideas:

Time Lords are taken to look into the Time Vortex on Galifrey. Sounds mighty like a portal accident to me.

The Time Lords of Galifrey considered themselves guardians of creation and the time stream. Hi there Danny doing missions for Clockwork.

The red robes that Rassilon and his fellow Time Lords have look very familiar. Almost like a certain group of eyeballs.

The Master. Vlad Masters. Just as much of a Fruit Loop.

From some older Who. The Valeyard. Implied to be a future evil incarnation of the Doctor. Sounds very much like Dan no?

The Doctor is known for changing his appearance. You could take this at the basic level of phantom/fenton or ramp it up with some shapeshifting. Dealers choice.

You could take the above even further if it's a very old and immortal Danny. Every time his human side dies his ghost side just makes a new body, ala regenerations. Bonus humour includes Danny having the Doctor's post regeneration cravings and drunken/high/concussed state. Due to ectoplasm's elasticity it could account for initial differences in appearance while he's not 100%in the brain meats.

A sonic screwdriver is exactly the kind of thing Danny would make. A multitool using ectoplasm for telekinesis to be the perfect fitting or attachment for whatever he's working on? A dream come true after the hodgepodge of his parent's inventions being made out of toasters and microwaves.

Intergalactic treaties? Planetary Defence Pacts? Agreements to defend undeveloped worlds with primitive societies? Sounds like something Danny would be involved in as High King. After all, he oversees the Infinite Realms, the Omniverse which contains every instance of the multiverse, anything which threatens all his hard work and repairs after Pariah broke everything is certainly on his radar. Plus this boy loves space. No way is he passing on his chance to live his childhood dreams.

Meanwhile the Justice League is panicking, Clark is fanboying because he really associated with The Doctor growing up, Bruce is binging Dr Who desperately trying to get caught up (he's a Grey Ghost fan ok, he doesn't get why nobody else likes it) while he gets Tim and Barbara to write Cliff Notes versions of what they know about The Doctor from the TV shows.

Meanwhile Constantine is drinking. As an indicator of how bad things are, Zatanna joined him. Because it turns out that the TV wasn't exaggerating when they called The Doctor, The Lonely GOD.

Danny is just thrilled to meet such interesting and colourful new people. He's still not sure why they're so excited to meet a Doctor? Do superheros not have health insurance or something in this dimension? At least they're friendly. And they have a space station :D

Bonus:-Clockwork has played every incarnation of Rassilon in the TV series via overshadowing. Timothy Dalton was his favourite. He will not be taking questions.

The Doctor

After years of fighting crime and being a hero, Danny decided that he wanted another profession, something else to do with his life. In the end he decided to be what he always needed: A doctor.

Thanks to Frostbite's teachings and help, Danny managed to become a successful and efficient doctor quickly (although he definitely hated normal medical school), with experience in all kinds of beings (from all kinds of dimensions, he couldn't just be a human doctor, what's the point on that?)

Since his universe didn't need a doctor for heroes and Frostbite was enough for the ghosts he decided to... be a traveler doctor, or something similar, help other dimensions. With the help of the Infinite Map he always traveled where "he was needed", and thanks to Clockwork he always escaped before they could question him.

The Justice League was very confused about who was randomly showing up to heal them. Sometimes by force. But Danny didn't care about the consequences, after all, they need him. And it's kind of funny that he's referred to as "The Doctor" in their files.
