I decided that I wanted to round up some of my faves that I’ve read over the past week or so to share (and also so I can keep track 🤷‍♀️) So here we go. As always, mind the tags however I will try to make sure any specific warnings are listed as needed.

Probably because I’m just now getting over the emotional damage of reading this one as a WIP (jk, kinda). So here we go. The longest fic I’ve read as a WIP because I just could not resist when it first started. This was my first time re-reading it from start to finish in one sitting and HOBOY. I still love it so much and even though I still cried nearly every other chapter it still takes up such a huge spot in my heart. Farmer Claude gives me life. (Also, bby, can we talk about how you and interact with each other’s posts ALL THE TIME but never actually talk? I’m an awkward bean but please let’s change that 🤍)

maybe you can show me (how to love) by @samgirard - Nathan MacKinnon/Andre Burakovsky (Explicit, 22k) - I couldn’t tell you how or when I fell so in love with reading BuraKinnon just that it happened. Maybe part of my love for these two is just the contrast of their personalities. IDK, it doesn’t matter. I think about the scene where they all show up to take care of André’s house probably more than a normal person should but its because I’m just very soft for this very soft team.

Combative by @notthequiettype - Travis Konecny/Nolan Patrick (Explicit, 3k) - Because what week would be complete without a straight up porn rec. This was 3500 words of beautiful filth and the amount of shit talking while having sex was just *chef’s kiss*. I could read novel length fics of TK and Patty in this characterization and still not have enough.

New Kid, Just Trying to Fit In by @crooked-silence - part of the From Pittsburgh to Philly with Love series (Teen, 2770) - Okay I know what you’re probably thinking: “Jess, do you ever actually shut up about this Sid/TK ABO series?” And honestly the answer is a big fat “NO”! I love this series and this part is way different from the rest but in the best ways. Getting to see the Flyers from Kevin’s POV as a brand new addition to the scene is so well written. And just getting that outside perspective on the relationships on the team and the goings-on of TK/Sid. CS, I don’t know what your plans are for the rest of this series (if any) but I would love more like this!!

After time to process my thoughts I’m here to make my diary entry on my Tumblr which only serves as my occasional diary on the reboot of Mob Wives.

I have mixed feelings about this supposed reboot of the Mob Wives series after it’s conclusion in 2016. Mob Wives held a lot of significance in my life from the summer before high school until the beginning of my final semester of high school. It was pretty fucking weird and a little over the top but it’s probably a-ok. In December, learning of Mob Wives ending after it’s reunion in February was heart breaking and the biggest heart break came after Big Ang’s death weeks before the airing of the reunion. The series ended with Drita being on the outs with the rest of the original girls aside from Big Ang who was above that. All this being said I don’t know how Mob Wives could continue without Big Ang and Drita who will not join without Big Ang. I’ve seen on social media that Big Ang’s family is less than pleased about the reboot because they feel the same way. I just wonder how Ang would truly feel about it. I also love Drita so it’s hard to see a reboot of the show without her. I loved the show as much as I did largely because of the concept of understanding families with relatives (specifically men) in prison for ties to organized crime, their struggles, and affects on their life. Along with the Italian, mafia, and New York aesthetic. After formally concluding the series with personal revelations, and doing other projects beyond the show it’s hard to see how they could continue with the same concept of women struggling to live with their husband/father/uncle/brother/cousin behind bars now that they have put much of that life and it’s trauma behind them. Besides, frankly, they are television stars by now.

I first found out about this reboot project when I read Jennifer Graziano’s (creator, executive producer, and sister to Mob Wives veteran Renee Graziano) post on Facebook asking who would be interested in a reboot with a following post that she was looking for cast members. I was weary to get my hopes up because this show is the reason I live. If it doesn’t happen I will be disappointed, if it isn’t as enjoyable as the original series (regardless of the circumstances) I will disappointed, if it isn’t renewed after its first season after resurrection I will be devastated again like my uncle got whacked and was found in his trunk a week later (come to find out the motherfucker was wearing a wire :/)

Not only this but before there was much confusion as to how it would be rebooted. With the original cast, all new cast, a mix, who would be the new cast members?, where would they be from?, will it be in Staten Island?, will they branch out to Philly/Miami as they wanted to before? Now we know Drita received a call to be casted for the reboot, Other wives like Renee and Carla are anticipating the rebirth of the series.

My next question is will they try to build a franchise again?:

-Pittsburgh, PA

MAN, what I would give to see Deborah Merlino on a Mob Wives. The East Coast Enterprise case has been all kinds of fucked up from rats to dirty FBI dealings (Shocking) or mishaps and sloppy work.

The Big Jump” (4/28/2017) 

Hey there folks! Its me again with another installment of Quill’s Trill Travels! This time its (3 states in 3 days) day 1 of my 3 part epic ass weekend!

April 28th was the day…the day I took the PLUNGE. With words like JUMP and Plunge I'm probably leaving you in suspense, but YES! I'm referring to Marriage (JK)...I’m freaking skydiving! That's right…10,000 feet of pure adrenaline! Some might think I'm Crazy, Brave or just plain old Insane! I’d say Inspirational to some, living life vicariously through me. Either way I ended up traveling alone which gave me some time to reflect on my own personal journey.

Which was fine with me because for the most part this was a way for me to overcome the fears and problems I’ve had by Freefalling head 1st into a life regret free. Originally my Groupon was scheduled a month before but due to the weather I had to postpone, which was worked out because the weather was 85 degrees of sunshine and not a cloud in sky! I then thought to myslef...Self (Its a Good day for skydiving if I do say so myself) Running off of alcohol and 3 hours of sleep from Lesean McCoy’s NFL Draft after party the night before I was a damn near dead. Previously getting home a little after 3AM, I had to be back up at 6AM to catch my Megabus from Philly to Baltimore on time. With my alarm cuing me to roll my ass out of bed I got an Uber to 30th street station making my bus on time was priority. I could just get a little shut eye on the Bus ride up. Fast-forward 2 hours and I’ve arrived!

Upon reaching my destination Oddly enough being Hella tired yet excited somehow Balanced me out!? With my newfound 2nd wind I Grabbed another Uber to the location of skydive Baltimore! Most times riding Uber is just another chance for me to network, especially in other cities. My Uber driver and I were having such a good conversation that we missed 2 exits before we Finally got back on track!?

Fast-forward a couple of minutes and I'm finally here…here to face my fears. I got dropped off around 10AM to what seemed like the middle of nowhere with a few small planes and farmland as far as the eye can see. After taking some snap shots I proceeded to walk down a long dirt road to be greeted by a couple of skydivers fresh off of a Landing! A dope welcome for what was to come. As I walked up to the entrance I noticed a Caucasian guy pacing back and forth. Nervousness like that could only mean he must be next up to jump soon! So I greeted him and engaged in a bit of small talk. Come to find out he came to jump alone as well! (Always good to meet a fellow adrenaline junkie).With my jump at 12pm and his jump at 11Am, they just grouped me and a few others together.

After signing the Danger waiver (Hey…Danger is my middle name) just another day at the office for me lol. But even after all of that it still wasn’t enough! I'm thinking maybe space next time? I got strapped in and was ready to go. Not spending much time explaining my experience…simply because I can show you better than I can tell you!

 this may be a bit shitty BUT ITS @amazedhowell‘s BIRTHDAY AND THIS ONE’S FOR HER COS I LOVE HER. [and she made me write this so if u don’t like this blame it on her… jk jk u know that birda happy bday i hope u get to fly one day. i promise i’ll give you seeds ;)]

The first night Dan didn’t come home, Phil was not worried…they weren’t each other’s parents. The second night Dan didn’t come home Phil was panicking. He wasn’t picking up his phone, not answering his texts. Utter silence. The third night Dan didn’t come home Phil went to the police. But they couldn’t help him cos Dan was an adult. For the first month of no Dan, Phil wanted to die. The second one he stopped eating. The third he broke stuff. The fourth he doesn’t quite remember. The fifth he drank the pain away. But the sixth month, the sixth month Phil stopped caring. He was so so tired of being the one left behind. The pitying looks his friends sent him every time they saw him didn’t help. 

He tried to stop thinking about Dan, for the sake of his own sanity. He had to or else he wouldn’t be able to live. Tried so hard..but failed miserably.. Not one phone call. Not one text. Nada. Nothing. For the two friends had known each other for what..8 years..who’d talked to each other everyday since then..who fucking skyped each other if one of them was gone for even a day cos how can they not talk to each other for a day? It was disorienting to say the least, living without Dan, breathing without Dan, not being able to see him lying face down on the carpet, his terrible jokes, the hours they spent just laughing. It was like a part of Phil’s heart was just gone.

“Hey you’ve reached Dan..I’m surprised you’re calling me cos I literally have no friends..leave a message after the beep.”, Phil’s laughter followed by an endearing “Dan” was clearly audible in the background. He could almost hear Dan’s smile. Phil cut off the voicemail for the hundredth time. He wondered why it wasn’t full yet from all the messages he’d left. He was afraid of sending more..afraid of losing Dan’s voice. He was already feeling exhausted from doing literally nothing. He just shut his eyes went off to sleep.

Every time there was a knock at the door, Phil’s heart jumped. His fingers shook. Every time it wasn’t Dan, he died a bit inside. It was Martyn. “Any word from Dan?”, was always his first question. He hated being this pathetic.

“Phil, you know he died.”, Martyn hated telling Phil this every time. Hated the look on his brother’s face every time he told him. “Cancer, Phil. Why don’t you remember?”

“Stop lying to me. He’s just gone for sometime. He is going to come back, I know it. His voicemail is on. I just heard it.” 

“I have his phone. You couldn’t keep it, but told me to keep charging it.”

“HE’S NOT DEAD MARTYN. DON’T FUCKING LIE ABOUT THIS.”, Phil said almost ripping his own hair out. 

“He is, Phil.”, Martyn sighed. His heart cracked. “We’ve had this conversation before. He died six months ago. You were with him in the hospital. You were right next to him when he took his last breath. Dan is dead, Philly..he’s never coming back.”

That’s when Phil woke up.

Day 2: still alone lost in the vast wilderness. No civilization in sight... the gods have forsaken me.... someone please send help... wait what is that I see? A camp? PEOPLE???? ITS BEEN SO LONG!!! Jkjk the hosts added the wrong person so I got added in like 2 hours after the actual start which isnt terrible Bc now i can just pretend I’m a pitiful little soul. Also like 1/3of the cast is people I’ve played with before but I haven’t even touched skype in like a year and a half so I have no idea any of them anymore!!! I hope we can all be friends again since from what I can remember, we were all on pretty good terms. My reaction to the “twist” is, it’s amazing. It fits my play style much more. Who needs idols? I rarely ever went to search for one and I was fine? Maybe... oof... also the whole everyone is in one tribe thing is really cool. More the merrier. It’s just really annoying Bc Skype is a pos. Anyways so far so good and I’m loving the people that are in the cast so far. Amazing cast and even more amazing hosts. I love all of them

This cast...this cast...this cast. So i know like 90% of these people. I'm currently hosting 4 of them...was hosting 5. It's a very strong cast which is great, but it also means that anyone can go at any time. I'm just gonna talk about them in order of the cast reveal. Brien: I've never spoken to him and have still yet to. He's one of the people in ihos but he's quiet there. Andrew: another ihos person who I haven't spoken to. I've seen him around for years but we've never played a game together. Or at least have never been on the same tribe. Madison: big titty queen. I love her with all my heart and I have no idea what is going to happen with her. She messy but amazing so who knows. She did meet JG and Jacob in person a few weeks ago so they are all close, so i do need to keep an eye out for all of them, even though I am close with them. Ricky: another ihos, and he is friends with Andrew. I doubt he's going to work with me so that is concerning. But it's early so who knows. I'm already getting bored of typing things about everyone. Kevin: no idea, but he seems nice. Madeleine: A true queen and a sweetheart. Julia: no comment. Pat: i've seen him win 2 games that i have played with him. He is quiet but dangerous and I need to watch out for him in time, but for now he will be a good ally. Stephen: king, but does tend to go early. Idk where he will stand this game but we're already in an alliance together. Vi: haven't seen her in over a year, kind person. Dylan: cracked Kenny: no idea Joanna: scary legend who will go hard, but has been very quiet thus far. I wonder who quit right before the start of the game. Hey out there! Long time no see! To be honest, I don't really have the first idea at what I'm doing. I kinda missed the first day and a half because I was working and then immediately went out with friends, but I think I'm making up for it! I'm starting to chat one-on-one with people, no strategy talk yet though. Which could be real dangerous since I don't have immunity, but there are people that just...haven't talked at all, as far as I can tell at least. Luckily I have a few prior connections in Madison, Joanna, and Andrew. I know Pat and Ricky too but I'm iffy on how they feel about me. I'm pretty sure I ghosted Pat's game earlier this year, SORRY PAT! I got busy and then I felt too embarrassed to show back up D: and I've just never been too sure about if Ricky likes me or not. But other than that I've talked a bit to Madeleine and Vi and I love them both, messy challenge chat icons. I totally missed some messages from Brien, Jacob, and Kevin though, but I've messaged them all back now so hopefully they don't hold that against me. Tribal isn't until tomorrow, so I assume that's when the real scrambling will begin. I just don't know when to jump into alliance talks, I don't want to play too hard too fast. But then I again, I want the chance to play at all.

MLB Predictions - 2018

AL East

1. New York Yankees – I hate this but the Empire is BACK. Baseball has been desperate for its villain to come back, and the Yankees did that last year. With the additional of NL MVP Giancarlo Stanton, they will be one of the most powerful lineups in the league. Look for them to run the AL East this season.

2. Boston Red Sox – Outside of J.D. Martinez the BoSawx didn’t acquire anyone else. They also have a very powerful lineup, but I cannot bet against a tandem of Judge and Stanton at the top of the order. Boston has a strong top of the rotation, though, with this guy named Chris Sale.

3. Tampa Bay Rays – With the injury to their top pitching prospect, Brett Honeywell, the Rays have a little trouble in the back end of their rotation. They did add Carlos Gomez, C.J. Cron, and Adeiny Hechavarria, but they will be competing for the AL crown with the White Sox in 2019.

4. Toronto Blue Jays – Josh Donaldson will not be a free agent until next season. This is a very random team with the acquisitions of washed players like Randall Grichuk and Curtis Granderson. Their rotation is still solid, and they bolstered it with Jaime Garcia at the back end. This is a very average to poor team.

5. Baltimore Orioles – This team isn’t good. They got Alex Cobb for a nice 4-year deal, but they have one of the weakest ‘pens in the league. Their lineup isn’t bad, especially if Mancini mashes and Trumbo returns to 2016 form. I don’t see both of these happening, though.

AL Central

1. Cleveland Indians – The Tribe are still in their prime. That rotation is filthy. Yonder Alonso is a nice plus at first base, and the bullpen is always reliable. I bet they run the AL Central wire to wire.

2. Minnesota Twins – The Twins overachieved last year, but the AL Central is going to be really bad this season, so they’ll probably squeak into 2nd place. Logan Morrison adds some much-needed pop, and Byron Buxton has the best glove in baseball, behind Andrelton Simmons. This is a solid team, but they aren’t incredible.

3. Chicago White Sox – The Sox are going to have a sneaky good ‘pen. I’ve mentioned this before in a separate blog post, but their bullpen WILL make or break them. Their team is compiled of fillers and young’uns, essentially, outside of Jose Abreu, who is one of the most underrated ballplayers. I see the Sox season going either way, and that is OK. They are still in only the second season of the rebuild.

4. Kansas City Royals – LOL the Royals suck again. They’re going to be bad. They signed Mike Moustakas, who is quite overrated. Their rotation is anchored by Danny Duffy, and Lucas Duda was a decent acquisition at first base. Jon Jay is the best player in the outfield. Their pitching is too weak for this team to succeed, though.

5. Detroit Tigers – They will have the worst record in the MLB. Michael Fulmer is going to either waste away or be traded, but it’s nice to have a team at the bottom of the barrel in the Central.

AL West

1. Houston Astros – The reigning champs got better, but I do not see them winning another Series because that is just hard. They have the best infield in the league and so much pop in that lineup. Gerrit Cole is going to deal for them, as well.

2. Los Angeles Angels – The Angels are looking sharp, but their rotation still needs some help. Ohtani was a great add, and hopefully, he can hit and pitch. I just want to see that. Any baseball fan should. Hopefully, they succeed for Trout because we need to see that stud in the playoffs.

3. Seattle Mariners – The M’s added Ichiro. That’s all that matters. JK, but I do see them having a solid hitting season with the additions of Dee Gordon and Ryon Healy. They still have some bullpen questions, but Nicasio and Rzepczynski will be mid-inning regulars.

4. Oakland A’s – I am not sure why, but I can see the A’s surprising. It feels like a Moneyball year. Their rotation is sneaky, and the addition of A.J. Puk in a couple months will make it better. Piscotty will improve and Dustin Fowler has a nice axe. This team is not that bad.

5. Texas Rangers – They’re going to be the cellar dwellers in the West. This is probably the strongest division in baseball because every team is trying to win. They also haven’t improved. I also don’t think Tim Lincecum will lead them to the promise land.

NL East

1. Washington Nationals – This division is bad. The Nats will run the table, and this is their year. Eaton will be back from his injury. Their lineup is stacked and they added to their bullpen late last year. They’re going to be good, and since baseball is a crap shoot in the playoffs sometimes, they’re my winner.

2. New York Mets – Their rotation will be solid, as long as their training staff doesn’t literally rip off Noah Syndergaard’s arm. This is the only reason why they get 2nd in the East.

3. Philadelphia Phillies – The Phillies have a solid rotation with the addition of Arrieta, whom I hate. He’s still solid. He’s just not as good as Chris Sale, and Cubs fans used to say he was, so I will leave it at that.

4. Atlanta Braves – The Braves are still rebuilding, like the Rays and White Sox. Look for them to have another subpar season, but also look for Ronald Acuna to have a BIG impact when he is brought to the MLB.

5. Miami Marlins – They were the joke of the offseason. Jeter is almost as bad of an owner as he was as a shortstop. Poor Starlin Castro always ends up on rebuilding teams. Lewis Brinson will be a decent add, if he pans out. They’re going to be competing for the worst record in baseball with Detroit.

NL Central

1. Chicago Cubs – I always hate to say it, but they Cubs are good. Joe Madden is an idiot, but they’re good. Yu Darvish is a stud and the best pitcher in the rotation when healthy. Yes, I think he’s better than Q, and I am biased towards Q. Brandon Morrow is a great add to the back end of the ‘pen, and we know how good their lineup is already. I hear enough about it in Chicago.

2. Milwaukee Brewers – The Crew did the most work in the offseason, adding Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain. They might need one more rotation piece, but the NL Central is kind of weak, so they will get 2nd.

3. St. Louis Cardinals – The Birds’ time is almost up. They’ve been teetering the last few years and are fizzling out of the top of the NL Central with a relatively weak farm system. Look for them to stay in the middle of the pack, even with the addition of Marcell Ozuna from the Marlins.

4. Cincinnati Reds – The Reds are rebuilding, like the Rays, White Sox, and Braves, and they will be in a similar spot. Do I really need to analyze them?

5. Pittsburgh Pirates – They got rid of their heart and soul, Andrew McCutchen and Gerrit Cole. Stick a fork in them, Jerry, they’re done.

NL West

1. Los Angeles Dodgers – The Dodgers are going to be good again. They have the best pitcher in baseball, and they will probably have like 96 wins.

2. Colorado Rockies – The Rockies have the best ‘pen in baseball now. Wade Davis is an ace at the back end. Bryan Shaw, Jake McGee, and Adam Ottavino are other great ‘pen options. Kyle Freeland will mature, too.

3. Arizona Diamondbacks – I just expect the D-Backs to regress a little bit. I don’t see them at the level of the Rockies or Dodgers, but they could snag a Wild Card slot. They did lose J.D. Martinez, though.

4. San Francisco Giants – The Giants added some geezers (McCutchen and Evan Longoria), so they can win 76 games. Cool.

5. San Diego Padres – The Padres added Eric Hosmer, and I don’t like him. He’s not better than Abreu, and his hair is stupid. Go Sox!

AL Playoffs: Yankees, Indians, Astros, Angels (WC), Red Sox (WC)

NL Playoffs: Dodgers, Nationals, Cubs, Brewers (WC), Rockies (WC)

World Series: Yankees vs. Nationals, Nationals = Champions
