Great choice, dear anon! I really enjoyed working on this one, so I hope y'all will like it too. Here's Day 3 of JJ's advent calendar. :)

Day 3: Scaramouche + “mistletoe”

If Scaramouche was being honest, he knew absolutely nothing about the holiday season and the various traditions and customs people put into action each and every year. He didn’t understand why they were making such a fuss about decorating their homes and buying presents for relatives they despised anyway – or what was so special about mulled wine, hot chocolate and cookies. He also didn’t understand why you were acting so embarrassed and weird since you had run into him a couple of minutes ago. Usually, you appeared to be quite happy whenever your paths crossed but today, you avoided his gaze at all costs, focusing on everything else but him. Especially the bundle of twigs that was hanging in the doorframe, tied together with a red ribbon, seemed to catch your attention. 

“You’re acting all weird today,” Scaramouche finally said. “What is wrong?” 

For a couple of seconds, you remained silent. Then, with an awkward chuckle, you pointed at the greenery above your heads. “That’s a mistletoe,” you explained, clearly hesitant to continue when all he did was raise his eyebrows. “So, usually… the two people standing beneath them have to, um, kiss.”

“Kiss,” Scaramouche repeated in a tone like he had never heard the word before, and you felt your face heat up. “Yeah. I mean, it’s not – it’s surely not mandatory, so… we could just walk away and pretend like this never happened, or we could-“

You stopped talking when Scaramouche took a step forward, resting one of his hands on your hip while the other found its way to the back of your head, gently guiding you forward until your lips met in a soft, almost chaste kiss.

And right after breaking the kiss, he suddenly found himself craving more. So, he kissed you a second time. And a third time. And maybe, just maybe, some holiday traditions weren’t too bad, after all.

With the infamous words, "Somehow, Palpatine returned," the end of the third Star Wars trilogy premiered on December 20, 2019. There had been plans to focus on Han in the first movie, Luke in the second, and Leia the third, but the death of Carrie Fisher changed those plans. Returning from the new trilogy were Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Domhall Gleeson (General Hux), Lupita Nyong'o (Maz Kanata), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Greg Grunberg (Snap Wexley), Amanda Lawrence (Comander D'Acy), Billy Lourd (Lt Connix) and BB8. There were a lot of voice cameos by Shirley Henderson (Babu Frik), J.J. Abrams (D-0) , James Earl Jones (Darth Vader), Matthew Wood (Cai Threnalli), Andy Serkis (Snoke), Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker), Olivia D'Ablo (Luminara Unduli), Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano), Jennifer Hale (Aayla Secura), Samuel L Jackson (Mace Windu), Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Alec Guinness (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Frank Oz (Yoda), Angelique Perrin (Adi Gallia), Freddie Prinze Jr (Kanan Jarrus), and Liam Neeson (Qui-Gon Jinn). John Williams who composed the scores for all three of the original trilogies made a cameo appearance. The action took place at Ajon Kloss, Pasaana, Kijimi, Kef Bir, and Exegol. ("Star Wars Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker" Star Wars Movie Event).

❗️ At the streaming event of the final episode of I Feel You Linger in the Air, the cast announced a second season of the show. Details are unknown.

❗️ The Taiwanese historical BL My Stand In is getting a Thai adaption. Up Poompat and Poom Phuripan have been confirmed as the leads, Porsche Tanathorn, Mek Jirakit and Inntouch Naphat have been confirmed as part of the cast as well, along with others. The series is currently in pre-production and has not disclosed any further information. 

❗️ LINE TV and TAICCA announce “Be Love, Go Love”, a project that will include 6 Taiwanese BLs/GLs, produced & realized by multiple cross-country BL producers, screenwriters and directors from shows like the HIStory franchise, To My Star, Bad Buddy, ATOTS, 2Gether, Semantic Error and more. The project will launch in the 2nd half of 2024.

❗️ MeenPing (Ai Lhong Nai) were announced as the leads for AllThis Entertainment's upcoming BL The Rebound. Further details are unknown.

❗️ After Manner of Death and Triage, another one of Sammon's novels will be adapted into a series titled Lost on the River. Further details are unknown. Regarding the adaption of her novel Euthanasia, Tor Thanapob and JJ Krissanapoom were announced as the leads. The show will be called Spare Me Your Mercy. ✰James himself is multilingual (Mandarin, English and, Korean) so if his S/I can speak more than one language he's immediately impressed, he knows how hard learning a new language is.

✰He brags about it all the time, like say him and the rest of Trainee A were all just sitting and suddenly James is like, "so did you know my partner speaks Spanish/Italian?" And the other members all groan in synch.

✰He tried to learn but, the stress he was under made him keep forgetting, so you'd take him out for ice cream to clear his head.

✰He did pick up in a few phrases and sentence, especially the cursing, he forced himself to learn what the curse words were so you couldn't use them against him lmfao.

✰Everytime you speak to him in Spanish/Italian he's like a child discovering candy, it legit powers him up like, after your done speaking he'll be hella loud and off the walls type energetic, like he usually has a lot of energy..but my gosh.

✰His phone is full of recordings of your speaking in the language, along with his giggles in the background.

✰He definitely shares the videos on social media, like atp your apart of Trainee A, half of the TA feed is you speaking Spanish/Italian

✰He melts if you romance him speaking in the language, he just loves the way the words roll off your tongue, he may not know what your saying but he loves it.

✰Legit will kiss you mid sentence when you speak in Spanish/Italian, like you could be so pissed off and suddenly he's cooing at how cute you are and kissing all over your face

✰Hes whipped no matter what language you speak in tbh.

✰If he can't sleep he'll call you and have you speak to him in the language, it calms him but also hypes him up. (he's very confusing)

•TV show: "Criminal minds".

•Content warnings: A book about a 40-year-old murder case being published and presented in a theater, an elderly woman being severely ill and dying after she found out who murdered her daughter and joining her late daughter and husband in Heaven (her daughter even coming to get her to take her to Heaven) and the man who made the investigation about the girl's case possible having passed away before he could see the book about it be published.

•I don't really know what a book's presentation is like, so I kind of took inspiration from the last chapter of the fanfiction "Little talks" on fanfiction.net, and also made some things up.

•JJ is there because thanks to Emily's mother, she was pardoned and didn't go to jail for her crime. I couldn't mention it in the chapter.

•As you know, I'm a religious Catholic, and in this chapter I've basically described Heaven. If you don't believe it exists, that's fine, but don't make fun of it, please.

The bridge to Heaven

Chapter 22: Finally at peace

On June 12, 2004, exactly one year after Matthew's phone call to David, which had made the writer's investigation about Emily's case begin, a very important event occurred at John W. Engeman Theater, in Long Island.

It was the presentation of the last book Dave would have published in his life.

It was entitled "The bridge to Heaven", and what it talked about were the last weeks of Emily's life as told by her mother, former boyfriend, friends and acquaintances.

But it also included David's investigation about her death, and was dedicated to Emily herself, but also to Matthew, who had died on December 9, 2003, before being able to see the book his extremely brave choice had allowed Dave to write be published.

Aaron, Derek, Elle, Jennifer, Penelope and Spencer, along with their families, were there, though, and of course Declan, his grandmother and his wife and daughter had come too.

And then, in addition the majority of David's relatives, Pauline Leonard was there as well.

The woman had remained unsure whether to go or not almost until last minute, but then she had chosen to do it not only for Emily, but also because in a way, she felt like she owed it to her sister Abigail.

"If at the beginning of last year, someone had told me that I would have soon discovered and brought to light a fourty-year-old secret, I almost certainly wouldn't have believed them" David began talking, starting the presentation, after getting on the stage and inviting Aaron, Derek, Elle, Spencer, Jennifer and Penelope to join him "It happened, though, and if we are gathered here tonight, it is also and above all thanks to the men and women who are now on stage behind me, as well as Emily's mother and former boyfriend, former nurse Pauline Leonard and Matthew Benton, who can't be here today, but whose decision allowed me to give Emily the justice she deserved. So, first of all, I have to thank them for what they were courageous enough to do".

At the end of his short speech, everyone in the room clapped, then, taking turns, first David, then each of Emily's former schoolmates told a little part of that story.

They didn't say much, so as not to spoil too much of the book, but listening to their speeches, Elizabeth was still deeply moved.

As Emily's former friends and acquaintances spoke, however, a strange thing happened to Emily's mother.

For a few seconds, as each of them gave a brief speech, she seemed to see the teenagers they were when Emily was part of their lives in them again.

It didn't last long and the woman was aware that it couldn't really have been happening, but at that moment, it still seemed so real to her.

What happened next, however, was even more emotional for Elizabeth.

Suddenly, while Jennifer, the last person to speak, was talking, she thought she saw her daughter on stage with David and her former schoolmates.

Emily was wearing a white shirt and pants of that same colour, but, most importantly, she was smiling, something she hadn't done often in the last few weeks of her life.

She seemed happier than she had been in at least the last three years of her life, and she almost immediately spotted her mother in the crowd and waved to her.

"My little girl" Elizabeth couldn't stop herself from whispering with tears in her eyes "You just couldn't not be here today, right, Emily?"

"I'm okay now, Mama" Emily told her a few seconds later, moving closer to her, then disappearing.

Elizabeth didn't know for sure if what she had just seen was real, she couldn't know that, but deep down, she felt like it was.

Wherever she was at the moment, her beloved daughter was now at peace, so she could be too.

She could finally stop suffering and holding on and just join her.

She had been ill for three years, her family knew it, and she felt like she couldn't take it anymore.

She didn't have much time left, she was aware of it, but she had always felt like she had one more thing to do before leaving this world.

That thing was finding out what had actually happened to Emily, she now knew it.

And now that she had found that out, she could be free too.

That night, shortly after 3 am, Elizabeth's heart stopped beating.

She was alone in her small apartment in the retirement home, but weirdly, she wasn't scared at all.

At her last breath, she saw a big white light, stronger than any other one she had ever seen, then Emily appeared before her.

Her daughter had come to get her, just what the woman had waited for for fourty-one years.

"Come on, Mama, let's go. Daddy is waiting for you" Emily told her, taking her hand and starting to walk with her into that light.

It's here, my seventh Christmas drabble! Wanted to write something that involved the holiday season since it's December wrote this number last night.

The snowflakes danced gracefully in the air, creating a winter wonderland outside our cozy home. As y/n sipped on a warm cup of cocoa, she couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. It was Christmas morning, and she was about to witness the joy and happiness that only this magical day could bring. Jensen Ackles her husband, stood by her side, his eyes filled with love and adoration. They had been through so much together, and this Christmas was a reminder of the beautiful life they had built. Their three children, JJ, Zeppelin, and Arrow, were still fast asleep, unaware of the surprises that awaited them. As the clock struck 7 a.m., the sound of little footsteps echoed through the hallway. The children burst into the living room, their eyes wide with wonder.

The room was adorned with a wonder. And twinkling lights, a majestic tree standing tall in the corner, and presents piled high beneath it. JJ, their eldest, with her golden curls and sparkling blue eyes, was the first to dive into the sea of gifts. Her laughter filled the room as she unwrapped each present, her excitement contagious. Zeppelin, their middle child, followed suit, his mischievous grin lighting up the room. And little Arrow, their youngest, clapped her tiny hands in delight, her eyes shining with innocence. As they watched their children's faces light up with joy, she couldn't help but steal glances at Jensen. His presence alone filled her heart with warmth and love. His strong arms wrapped around her, and she felt a sense of completeness that only he could bring.

Jensen and y/n had been through ups and downs, but their love had always prevailed. He was her rock, her partner in crime, and the love of her life. Together, they had created a family filled with laughter, love, and endless memories. As the day unfolded, they reveled in the simple pleasures of being together. They played board games, built snowmen in the backyard, and indulged in a feast fit for kings. Laughter echoed through the halls, and the love they shared enveloped them like a warm embrace. In the evening, as the children drifted off to sleep. Jensen and y/n found ourselves snuggled on the couch, the glow of the Christmas lights casting a soft, romantic ambiance. They exchanged heartfelt gifts, each one a testament to their love and devotion.

As the night drew to a close, y/n couldn't help but reflect on the day's events. It had been a Christmas filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. The smiles on their children's faces were etched in her mind, a reminder of the joy that family brings. As she lays in bed, Jensen's arms wrapped around her, she whispered a silent prayer of gratitude. Their love story had been woven into the fabric of this magical day, and she knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together.

It's Day 11 of JJ's Advent Calendar! :) Thank you for your request! Hope you like what I came up with.

Day 11: Xiao + “mistletoe”

Xiao wasn’t exactly sure how he had ended up in this situation. A couple of minutes ago, you had tried everything to convince him to go and build a snowman with you, and now, you had suddenly stopped in your tracks, so that Xiao had bumped into you. With a frown, he looked at you. “What’s wrong?” 

“Oh no,” you sighed and pointed at the mistletoe above your head, “these accursed berries have trapped me again, it seems.” And with a sheepish grin, you added, “If only my true love would pass by and free me from this curse with a kiss.”

Xiao huffed but still couldn’t fight back a smile. This was the fifth time you did this since you had brought the mistletoe home, and while he always pretended to be a bit annoyed by your actions (and your abysmal acting, for the record), he secretly waited for you to do it again. After all, it gave him the perfect excuse to kiss you. (He was pretty sure you had already figured that out, too.)

“What am I supposed to do?” you asked with another exaggerated sigh. “I’ll be stuck here until the end of time!”

This time, Xiao laughed. It was so obvious that you wanted him to kiss you, and the fact that you put on this show instead of just asking him (or initiating a kiss yourself) really amused him. He stepped closer to you and leaned in, so that the tip of your nose brushed against his. “Here, let me try,” he said and pressed his lips to yours in a tender kiss that ended way too quickly for your liking, “did it work? Are you free from the curse of the berries?”

“No,” you replied without any hesitation. “I think you need to kiss me again.”

“Hey.” Tara said as you picked up. She’d been worried that you wouldn’t answer your phone. A case had come up last minute and Tara had to stand you up and break the holiday dinner date that you’d planned.

“Hey. Sorry, some crazy traffic.” You said. She could hear you shuffling about trying to get ready for bed. “You got home ok then?” She asked. The elevator dinged and she waved to JJ who was hurrying past with a frantic Penelope. When she lost her cool it was never a good sign.

“Yeah. I’m just locking up the place now. Making sure everything is secure. The neighbour is back.” You said as you locked the front window and spotted them standing on their porch, staring out into the street.

“The weird one?” Tara asked.

“Yeah.” You admitted.

“I need to tell you something that might make you feel a bit better.” Tara said quickly. She’d wanted to tell you for weeks.

“What is it? Don’t get me excited and leave me waiting!” You said and almost giggled as you switched off the lights and headed to your bedroom.

"For your gift. I’m taking you to the shelter to adopt a pit bull." She gave you just enough time to process what she said before adding. “I know you didn’t want to be surprised with an animal and I know you’ve been wanting a dog and you like pit bulls. I figured it’d make you feel a little safer with me away.” She explained. 

“I… I like that idea. We weren’t going today though were we?” You asked.

“Oh no. It was supposed to be tomorrow. But it looks like this case might be a serious one. I’ll call before we get on the plane. I’ll be sure to leave a message if you’re asleep then. I’ll call in the morning as well. Don’t worry about the shelter, I'll ask Penelope to call them in the morning and book another time… Maybe you could look at the dogs the shelter recommended with Penelope. Would save you worrying.” Tara was babbling now. You knew she felt bad about cancelling all the holiday plans. But you understood. She’d be spending the holidays saving somebody. 

“Ok. I’ll speak to you soon.” You said.

“Sure… oh… I have to go. This looks like a really bad case. I love you.” She said and hung up before you could answer. You huffed a little but knew she’d call again in a little while when she left to go to the plane. You got into bed and switched on the tv, sure to skip the news channel.

International Firefighters’ Day

Firefighters put their lives on the line every day to save our lives, loved ones, homes, and even forests and cities, so give them the thanks they deserve.

The role of a firefighter in today’s society–be it urban, rural, natural environment, volunteer, career, industrial, defense force, aviation, motorsport, or other is one of dedication, commitment, and sacrifice–no matter what country we reside and work in. In the fire service, we fight together against one common enemy–fire–no matter what country we come from, what uniform we wear or what language we speak. -  LT JJ Edmondson, firefighter, and creator of Firefighters Day

Nobody could have put what it means to be a firefighter as well as this courageous woman did. Most of us would risk our lives for those we love—family members, friends, pets. But could you imagine risking severe injury or even death for someone whom you don’t know at all? Could you imagine going into a burning building to rescue a stranger, knowing you may not come out?

Could you imagine climbing a tree in a burning forest just to save a defenseless animal too frightened to come down on its own? These are things firefighters do every day, and though we likely see them as acts of pure heroism, for firefighters, they’re just part of the job. Few people deserve to be celebrated as much as these heroic men and women do, so let’s all make sure to celebrate Firefighters Day in their honor!

History of International Firefighters’ Day

The first organized professionals whose job it was to combat structural fires lived in Ancient Egypt–however, at the time, firefighters worked for private companies that provided their services only to those who could afford them. Later, in Ancient Rome, Ceasar Augustus revolutionized firefighting by calling for the creation of a fire guard, called the Vigiles, that was trained, paid, and equipped by the state.

Firefighters Day was created in 1999 after 5 firefighters died tragically during a wildfire in Australia when the direction of the wind changed suddenly and engulfed them in flames. It is celebrated on May 4th because that is Saint Florian’s day, and Saint Florian, who was said to be one of the first commanding firefighters of an actual Roman battalion and saved many lives, is the patron saint of firefighters.

The incident that led to the creation of this date happened on the 2nd of December, 1998, in Linton Community, Australia. The event was so tragic that it shook the entire world. Linton is a populated area in Victoria, Australia, and firefighters at the time were tackling a massive bush fire. They called for mutual aid. This resulted in the Geelong West Fre Brigade coming to the scene. They did not know the tragedy and despair that was awaiting them.

Matthew Armstrong, Jason Thomas, Stuart Davidson, Chris Evans, and Garry Vredeveldt all loaded into a truck. They were sent to help extinguish the flames as part of a strike team. However, as they made their way into the hot zone, the wind switched direction suddenly, which resulted in the truck being engulfed in flames, with all five members losing their lives. It was an extremely tragic event, and it resulted in the birth of a day to celebrate firefighters and everything they do for us. After all many other firefighters have lost their lives in the field.

The symbol of International Firefighters’ Day

The International Firefighters’ Day has a significant symbol associated with it, and this is the blue and red ribbon. The ribbon is cut precisely to one cm in width and five cm in length, with the two different colors join at the top. Blue and red were selected by JJ Edmondson because of the symbolization associated with the colors. Blue is designed to represent water whereas the red represents fire. Not only this, but the two colors are also recognized around the world as a symbol for the emergency services. Therefore, it was decided that there was no better color choice!

The ribbon is typically worn on the fold of the fabric on a shirt, i.e. the lapel. However, it is not restricted to a certain spot. You can wear it wherever you feel appropriate, be it a different part of your shirt or your cap, for example. A lot of people also place them from their car mirrors or windows, as well as the trees in their garden. No matter whether you decide to place these ribbons, they represent a simple yet effective way of showing your support for firefighters all around the world.

How to celebrate International Firefighters’ Day

There are many great ways to celebrate firefighters on this day. Most of all, this day is about showing our appreciation for their service, risks, and sacrifice, so find a way to make sure your local firefighters know how much you value them! As always, it’s the thought that counts and small gestures go a long way, so even bringing a cake down to the fire hall would be a nice thing to do. You could also consider donating money to one of the many firefighter charities out there, some of which help firefighters injured in the line of duty get the medical treatment they need and return to health.

Other firefighter charities help retired firefighters live comfortable lives after years of risks they took for others. You can also raise awareness about the dangers firefighters bravely face every day by wearing a red and blue ribbon—the colors of water and fire, respectively. There are also a lot of different craft projects that you can enjoy on Firefighters Day that are based on the symbol of the day. Wearing a ribbon, baking a cake or donating a few dollars to a charity may not seem like particularly impressive gestures to you, but they will likely mean the world to those who work tirelessly for their communities.

You could also use this time to educate yourself about some of the heroic acts of firefighters, whether in your area or around the world. All you need to do is a quick search on the Internet and you will be able to read about some amazing heroic firefighter stories. This includes heroes who have risked their lives to save newborn babies from burning buildings, as well as the firefighters who have been involved in high-profile incidents that have happened around the world, with the tragic Grenfell Tower fire and the Australian bush fires being two of the most recent tragedies. Pay tribute to the amazing firefighters as well as those who have tragically lost their lives.
