Idk if I'm gonna get jumped for this but....Iiii don't know if it's really appropriate to call Vander Jinx's dad. He definitely was her guardian, with huge uncle energy for sure, but dad? Like, dad is something really personal and requires a high level of closeness, and they didn't seem to share that bond. Out of all the kids Powder seemed to be the most removed from him and share very little traits/interests with him, and after growing up we don't see Jinx care about him at all. So, idk, to call him her dad seems more like a fanservice to me rather than what can be confirmed by the show.

He's defo her dad in the au, tho, because there he would spend a lot more time with her and because of Vi's death pay more attention to her, therefore tightening their bond.

UPD: I mean, Vander isn't even a part of her hallucinations. Now, you could argue that it's too traumatic for her even to remember him as is seen in season 1 ep9, but I think it's the opposite, actually. Knowing Silco he probably yapped about Vander all the time (and he literally does this in ep5), so Jinx definitely remembers him and thinks of him to some extent. But why then his hallucination appeared only once? Well, I think it only happened because Jinx was under extreme pressure already, plus she recently had a shimmer operation, which could've worsened her mental state, hence Vander appearing as a hallucination. Again, this is just how I see it, I may be wrong, but I do think this view of their relationship is rational enough.

Honestly the best way I can describe the 2nd season of Arcane is written by extremely competend writers who bit off way more than they could chew. Especially in that short of a timeframe.

It's possible that it was a higher up decision for future League shows, but the focus on the Black Rose & magic worldbuilding took away focus from the core cast and the narrative of 2 cities/sisters opposed to one another. They desperately needed at least 3 more episodes

The writers are competent, but they made some deliberate choices I don't like and pulled focus from things I believe they should've left in focus. It feels like the entire narrative of the show got changed between seasons, and maybe it was always the intention and I should rewatch the entire show front-to-back without a massive hiatus in-between them for me to get it, but from my current standing... It could've been more, and the things that they did focus on and give time to were really good. It's just that the show lost its priorities and primary narrative along the way

I know the story only wanted certain people to talk to each other to accomplish specific things for s2, but it's just so crazy Sevika and Jinx had both been in the same/place with Singed at least twice and had NOTHING to say to him.

Sevika never wanted him to make more shimmer to at least keep things going somehow (he clearly was still capable with Ambessa)? Is Sevika done with shimmer even though and the benefits she used it for? Did she ever go to Singed and ask him about Silco when he first disappeared? Was she able to connect the dots from what Singed told her about the state that Jinx came and left in?

I don't even know where to start with Jinx. How does she feel about being permanently altered with shimmer by Singed? Doesn't she have any questions about her new biology? Does she hate Singed for putting her through what seems like the most physically painful experiences of her life, how are these feelings affected by the fact that it only happened because Silco wanted her to live. What's going on with the thread where parents subject their children to monstrous treatment to save them in Arcane?

Why doesn't Jinx ever confront him about Vander!!?!?? You could Jinx couldn't have known it was Singed, but who else could be capable of THAT (he'd also just admit it). Singed can only really talk to one person he has any real connection with, and that's so we can listen Viktor fail an oral exam on BIO 101.

Arcane VAs

The acting in Arcane is amazing but it’s even more impressive when you release that Jinx’s actress is actually English (Ella Purnell) and Caitlyn’s is actually Scottish (Katie Leung).

Like their acting was insane before but i always think it’s so impressive how they can portray so much emotion in a completely different accent.

something i'm curious about is, regarding that post you made about hairstyles + the Jumping Spider AU post where you re-drew the Arcane poster with TDL and Orange, does TDL just... force those close to him to style their hair the same as his? and is there another reason behind that or does he just want all of them to look similar?

In the hairstyle one, he kinda force it on TCO, but he didn't expect TCO to actually go along with it akdbdjd. Said that he was "joking" but that just earned him a glare from TCO.

And in the Jumping Spider au, Orange is the one to ask Dark to help him make his hairstyle look similar to Dark's! TDL refused to help at first, saying he's "busy" and "I don't do makeovers!"

So Orange just take matters into his own hands, but it looked.... crappy wkdbehfdj, then Dark just facepalm and snatch the razor from Orange's grip and take hold of the situation.

Different situations comes with different context kinda deal y'know?

Caitlyn - First person shooters and detective based puzzle games, like Return of the Obra Dinn and The Case of the Golden Idol

Vi - Hack and slash games, used to be a pro at Smash Bros after playing it so much with her family, but she also has a secret soft spot for visual novels

Jinx - Tetris, bullet hell games, and first person shooters where she also stream snipes Cait for fun

Ekko - Puzzle platformers, like Neon White or Celeste where he’s definitely doing speedruns, and a Stardew Valley save with Jinx

Mel - Society simulation and strategy games, like Civilization or even Frostpunk, but she’ll also play fighting games like Guilty Gear to pull off insane combos

Jayce - Life simulation games, like PowerWash Simulator, narrative choice games with emotional endings, and Minecraft

Viktor - Completely modded out Sims, soulslike games for the challenge, and maybe chill exploration games like Season: A Letter to the Future

To expand -and gather my thoughts- on some of my yesterday's posts and reblogs about the MV.

I really don't think the MV needed a kiss or any other stereotypical "romantic gesture". What we got was plenty intimate and the whole thing was like a love declaration.

Just full of love. And it was so them...I appreciated there wasn't a kiss.

Love, including the romantic one, can be expressed without stereotypical romantic gestures.

Here, it was expressed with symbolism, poetry, with the song, with the laying down together and the hug, and the looking and... everything.

This MV, it was a love declaration. The whole thing, the thing itself was just love.

No need for stereotypical romantic stuff to express love... I get that we aren't all sensitive to the same thing, and as I mentionned yesterday I do not like the argument "people just don't get it". I hate it, so I am not using it here. This is not what I am saying.

But it does annoy me a little that when there aren't stereotypical normative stuff, the whole thing gets discarded. Or it is said to be lacking. Not enough.

I also do think that yes some people will be more or less sensitive to certain narrative/storytelling choices. Or visual cues, sound cues, etc etc.

And maybe the specific choice the MV picked doesn't resonate as deeply with everyone.

Although, as I was clumsily trying to articulate yesterday : the MV did give us what was needed for their story in arcane.

That is : Ekko helping her see that she can get better that there still worth in life. That she can be still loved and be good. Be becomes her rock and supoort.and for him it shows how he reconciles Powder/Jinx

and how he loves HER. not AU powder or old powder but HER. For who she is, here, at her lowest included.and it shows Jinx's reciprocating.

it's Ekko saying I am here I love YOU I'll help you and her relaxing into it welcoming it.

and her answering : yes ok I see it, I'll let you help me, and I love you too.

Those things were what was missing from the show for them. They were missing from their story. They were what was needed I think (story wise).

And we got them here.

The rest, kisses, sex, even declarations with words or grand stereotypical gestures they're extras.

They're not necessities to tell their story, at least in arcane. They're good, those other things. And I can get the disapointment for those that truly wanted to see them. But they weren't necessities I think.

What we got was perfect as it was I think. Nothing was lacking from it I think.

Quick re-mention tho : there is still content lacking for Ekko as his own character. I love timebomb but he is reduced to a love interest in the story of the show for s2. That is still a need, but their story as the ship for me now we got what was lacking. It is what I am trying to say.

When I say nothing was lacking again I do not dismiss the fact that yes kiss and coe are cool, and I get how people want them. I'd be happy to see them kiss.

But it isn't a necessity and something missing from the MV I think.

Dare I say... it is a strenght. It is one of the things that make it so good. And so.... them.

What we got... that is Them.

I also really think that what we got is timebomb. It is not them, at least now they are in Main Universe, to go with grand gestures and kissing and other things.

They are subtle, with symbolism, raw complex emotions. Poetry.

With their own form of intimacy in it and the MV perfectly delivered into what makes timebomb timebomb I think. So yeah, for me the no kissing was actually a good choice. I wouldn't have liked it as much with kissing I think. It would have felt jarring and out of place for me.

Not saying, again, that in general I wouldn't like them kissing. But not here.

This MV wasn't missing a kiss or more romantic gestures I think. It was exactly Timebomb, and fitting the moment too, not just for Jinx and her being suicidal but also Ekko when we think about it...Anyway. We can disagree on that.

But it was what was needed for their story and was lakcing from the show.And it was so so so them and so full of love. just love.

The whole thing itself was a love declaration.

edit 1 ... Yes... but bc I forgot the disclaimer : english is not my native language. I would struggle to express and articulate my thoughts emotions even in french here, so in english there's an added difficulty despite me being relatively fluent -I think-. Also of course thoughts and emotions and putting them into words are always subject to changes, emotions/thoughts/the way to phrase and articukate them can mature, stew, rest, etc.

Yes they do exist. Vi got dark chocolate with sea salt and edible gold, and Jinx got matched and strawberry chocolate swirl.

I wonder what Silco’s flavor would be? Or Mel? Or Jayce? Or Vander?
