Idk if you plan on continuing your one piece role swap au but with it narrowing down to musician Franky and archeologists Brook is kinda hilarious. Franky guitar classic country with Brooke making even more bone jokes somehow. (Sorry I didn’t add Jinbe to my thoughts I’m not there yet idk his role on the crew)
Jinbe is the ships helmsman but since I'm kinda a believer in the theres still one strawhat that hasn't offically joined the crew yet theory im gonna hold out for them as the final swap since i did kinda write myself into a corner with Franky and Brook
#ask#anon#one piece#franky#cutty flam#soul king brook#brook#I think it'll be funny if Vivi is the last crew mate#considering that would mean what#jinbe gets to be a princess in this au#then again im still holding out for Yamato#... yes im delusional stfu its not over til its over

Speaking of disney princess-esque AUs (i say months late to the conversation,) Anastasia au would be so easy with Sanuso or Usona. Usopp as the lies-come-true conman Dimitri who accidentally finds the real missing prince/princess, and Brook and/or Jinbe as the well-meaning older partner in crime Vladimir.
With princess Nami it would be Nojiko looking for her surviving sister after their mother was assassinated, and Arlong trying to kill them off to finish the job. In this case Nami doesn't remember her past at all, and is in on the grift with Usopp & company as an actress! Meanwhile Usopp slowly realizes she knows more abt the princess's life than she should.
With prince/princess Sanji there would be dowager Sora, trying to locate her surviving children while the ghost of Judge hunts them down, the plot would take more reworking this way but it could be done. Nami and Usopp pretend to believe Sanji's claims in order to pass him off as a fake and get the reward, but start to believe him after the fucking ghost attack
Hell make it sanusona with con artist duo Usopp and Nami and prince/princess Sanji. Do whatever! This trio just work for the vibes of this movie i think

@cathiief sent: plots please for anyone we haven’t already discussed 😌
⤏ send me “plots please”
… and I’ll respond with 3 (or more) interesting plots / relationships / connections I can think of for our muses! There is no pressure for us to write any of them, but it’s a great starting point for you to get a sense of how I think our muses might interact and what sorts of plots I’m most interested in happening between them -so don’t be shy!
this will be long so under the cut it goes, some will include the ones we have discussed because i know i will always have more ideas
Alber (King)
Alber lost half a wing, he didn't deserve to be shoved into Udon so Alber recovering where the Straw Hats are, solely because of the Lunarian thing
Nami is good at infiltration, why did she not try to infiltrate Onigashima? So let's have her break into Onigashima before the raid and interact with Beast Pirates as a 'recruit'
Nami being the 'hostage' to keep 'Joker' in line in her Donquixote pirate verse
Buggy
Nami dealing with this clown for more than just a day
Charlotte Katakuri
TBH, I have a verse I need to fully write up where Kat ends up on the Sunny cos Luffy didn't want to leave him behind hurt
Crocodile
Verse where Baroque Works recruited her and got her away from Arlong, when?
The rain meant he was solid, let's let her get a few slaps in when he wakes up for what he did to Vivi and Alabasta
Donquixote Doflamingo
The verse you mentioned where she is a Donquixote Pirate, so much to explore, such as when he collected her and Nojiko
When she learns that he was the one who killed Rosinante
Him naming her the Crown Princess of Dressrosa as his favorite niece
Donquixote Rosinante
Rosinante coming to take her and Nojiko away from Arlong, especially in my AU where he lives (canon had him die one year before Bell and I am not ok)
Rosinante visiting Bell while the girls are growing up, especially before he goes undercover
Rosinante introducing her to Law
Eustass Kidd
Someone needs to smack sense into this dumbass and his crew obviously isn't gonna do it
Verse where Nami flees East Blue on a marine ship and ends up in a different sea, and runs into this man and his crew
Jinbe
Jinbe getting wind of what Arlong was doing and coming to clean up the mess/take out Arlong
Jinbe and Nami talking and getting to known one another, after Fishman Island
Jinbe checking in on Nami via Den-den until he rejoins in Whole Cake cos he wants to make sure she is okay/feels like he is responsible for her safety
Koby
Talking together on Water Seven
Marine Nami when?
Bonding over being conscripted into a pirate crew against their will
Marco
Talking while Luffy and Zoro recover
Monkey D Garp
Marine Nami being under Garp
Monkey D Luffy
More adventures between major arcs
Luffy and Nami being the iconic duo they are
LuNa is a guilty pleasure ship of mine tbh >.>
Page One
I feel like Nami would got to Udon to at least see how things are going and see poor Page dealing with his sister, pleading for help when he sees Nami cos Ulti is very overbearing
Nami is good at infiltration, why did she not try to infiltrate Onigashima? So let's have her break into Onigashima before the raid and interact with Beast Pirates as a 'recruit'
Nami being the 'hostage' to keep 'Joker' in line in her Donquixote pirate verse
Portgas D Ace
Ace sticking with the crew for longer than he did in canon
Bonding over navigating the Grandline (I see that log pose on his arm and know he had that role as well as captain in his crew)
Spade Pirate Nami?
Racing, Nami on her Waver, Ace on his Striker
Rob Lucci
I need Nami to rip into him for Enies Lobby
Cipher Pol Nami?
Nami learning that Lucci was a child soldier
Roronoa Zoro
Zoro and Nami having to deal with their feral captain
Again more adventures between islands
Down time when they wait for Luffy to recover after big fights
They were both rather early in their return, kinda wanna see her learning that he got back to Sabaody first
Sabo
Nami getting to meet the other brother
Revolutionists helping Nami
Revolutionist Nami in general
Shanks
Shanks landing on Cocoyashi when he is in the East Blue, visiting like he also did with Windmill Village
Compounding on that Shanks stopping Arlong before Bell-mere could be killed, cos that's his friend
Silvers Rayleigh
She was back for a while before they left Sabaody, the two just talking
Tony Tony Chopper
Chopper and Nami crewmate bonding threads
Trafalgar D Law
Reuniting in Sabaody in the verse where he spent six months with Bell-mere
Reuniting on Punk Hazard in the verse where he spent six months with Bell-mere cos oh she is gunna have words with him
Donquixote Pirate Nami running into Law
Vinsmoke Ichiji
More of their shopping trips
Princess of Dressrosa Nami engaged to Prince Vinsmoke Ichiji to tie Germa 66 to Dressrosa and the Donquixote Pirates?
Wedding planning
Vinsmoke Niji
Nami needs to verbally abuse his ass more, he deserves it
Vinsmoke Sanji
NaSan bonding
Sanji opening up to Nami about his not great family before the reveal in Zou
Sanji spoiling her like the princess she is
Vinsmoke Yonji
Leash the Himbo
Seriously she could honestly tell him to do what ever and his dumb himbo ass would do it
X Drake
After the Raid someone checked on Drake and got him fixed up, it could easily have been her who found him when looking for anything she could loot from Onigashima
Nami is good at infiltration, why did she not try to infiltrate Onigashima? So let's have her break into Onigashima before the raid and interact with Beast Pirates as a 'recruit'
Nami being the 'hostage' to keep 'Joker' in line in her Donquixote pirate verse

🔥ICHIJI x NAMI🍊
For my spontaneous event, which can be found here! This one was a Twitter request!
*AU where Nami is scoping out the wedding in disguise*
No Warnings Apply
“It’s chaos, Jinbe,” Nami pursed her lips as she lifted the powdered cushion, dabbing foundation on her cheekbones. “No one will even notice me.”
“It’s better to be safe than sorry,” Blue skin flashed in the tiny mirror of the compact, the fishman too large for the window into the Mirror World. “I still wish you had disguised your hair.”
“I’m not the –" She paused, falling silent and resuming the application of her makeup as members of the Charlotte family sauntered by, laughing amongst themselves at some inside joke. Nami knew that she was hardly worth noting between the looming towers of baked goods, the edible decorations as far as the eye could see.
Though, Jinbe was right. She had to play it safe.
Once Big Mom’s children had disappeared into the massive crowd milling around the colossal wedding cake, Nami tried again. “I’m not the only red head in the world,” She scoffed, “It was nice enough for Bege to give me an outfit. I wasn’t about to ask him to find me a wig.”
She was fairly positive she overheard Pedro make a comment involving dye, but the look on her face spurred Chopper to draw her attention, “Any sign of Sanji, Nami?”
She shook her head, realizing after the fact that the motion was probably lost in the small mirror, just a flash of her lips from side to side. “Not yet,” She frowned, “If they planned a traditional wedding, I probably won’t have eyes on him until the ceremony.”
“They’ll have to get him to the wedding cake somehow,” Jinbe countered, “Let us know his condition as soon as you see him.”
“If Big Mom has harmed a single hair on Sanji-san's head,” Brook cried shrilly in the background, “I’ll have a bone to pick with her – I have so many, after all! Yo ho ho ho!”
Nami bit back a groan, sighing, “I’ll let you know. Laying low until then won’t be very difficult. It seems like every royal family in all the Blues are here.”
“Remember,” Pedro cut through the chatter on the other side of the mirror, “You’re Naomi, princess of the Bellemera Kingdom.”
“They don’t call me the cat burglar for nothing,” She rolled her eyes, applying one last layer of lipstick, “I’ve got this.”
And with that, she snapped the compact closed, slipping it into the petite clutch she grasped in her hands, covered by elbow length gloves of the finest ivory lace. Smoothing her wine-red dress over her thighs, she kept her eyes and ears peeled for any important information as she wandered about the tea party.
She had to blend in, had to appear as if she belonged. Such an event, wedding aside, acted as a reunion of allies, of old friends. A person on their own stood out like a sore thumb. Though, it wasn’t as if she could waltz right up to a stranger and con them into familiar conversation. No, she had to take a different approach.
When were guests most often on their own at a lavish party?
A sly smile tugged at her lips as she sauntered over to a table teeming with pastries, cookies, cupcakes, and more. Baked goods arranged in tiered layers of rose, of blush, of vanilla created edible bouquets, one look prompting Nami’s stomach to grumble and her mouth to salivate.
Slipping off her fancy gloves, she let her fingers hesitate over the cupcakes, debating which one to choose. Did she go with the floral piping? The sparkling sugar crystals? The chocolate sprinkles?
“Careful, you might make the baker jealous.”
“Hmm?” Nami whirled around on her heel, her nose nearly skimming the white frills of a familiar dress shirt.
Vinsmoke Ichiji stood before her, arrogant smirk flashing perfect teeth, dark shades reflecting the carefully veiled surprise in Nami’s eyes. His crimson hair seemed to be styled with extra care for the big event, the coifs bouncing gently as he tilted his head to the side. Though Nami could not see his eyes, the nervous stutter of her heart told her he was dragging his gaze over her, slow and steady, taking in every detail of her figure.
“Those cupcakes look awful ugly next to you, beautiful,” He answered after a while, sweeping his burgundy cape to the side and gesturing to the edible display behind her.
Nami blinked, trying to gather her wits. She was better than this. She wouldn’t be thrown off by a handsome man!
Wait, handsome?
She offered Ichiji a frown, turning her nose up in dismissal as she lifted a cupcake from the table. “I’m sorry, I don’t socialize with those below royalty,” She swiped her finger through the pink icing – fluffy and enticing.
“Lucky for you, I am royalty. I do believe Germa 66 is better known than,” He paused, a gloved hand curling around her wrist, his grin glinting devilishly, “The kingdom of Straw Hats, wouldn’t you say?”
Then, he lifted her finger to his lips, popping the digit into his mouth. She shivered as his tongue lapped at the icing on her fingertip, his shades slipping on the bridge of his nose to reveal piercing eyes that begged her not to look away.
Nami suddenly felt as though her body was on fire, and her frantic heartbeat did little to inform her if it was due to fear or excitement. She cursed herself mentally. She had to focus!
“Why don’t you join me for a cocktail before the ceremony?” He released her finger with an audible pop, his confidence radiating from him, stoking the flames burning her skin. “I do enjoy the company of beautiful women, commoner or not.”
As Nami followed him, knees wobbly from desire, she double checked that the compact in her clutch was firmly closed.
Sanji could never hear about this.

What are all your favorite op ships? And what ones are hard no?
Honestly I ship all of the WBP with Ace excluding Pops (And Teach but honestly man was never a WBP anyway the traitor!!!)
But yea MarcoAce is my number one for sure I just need to figure out how to draw Marco consistently and then we gucci - MarcoAce is 👌🏽 hits that spot for me, the older more mature one hesitating in falling in love but the younger one Ace chasing them pursuing them actively
Like the whole firecracker chasing the old bird? LOVE IT!!!!!
Big fan of LawLu and CobyLu both are veeeery cute anything with Luffy is automatically super cute
Also Corazon and Bellemere for happier modern Aus ❤️ they are cuties bc I love Nami Nojiko and Law and Lami being siblings
ThatchIzou theyre the longest relationship on the moby, married and everything and Ace goes to them for advice on Marco and how to ask him out awwua ThatchIzou is the sexy couple ok i love em
NamiVivi as well like Nami the cat burglar has a PRINCESS wife? The vibes are immaculate here such a powercouple
Ofc FrankyRobin/Frobin i love that funky cyborg man and his equally funky archaeologist wife, they’re that couple you envy for being so adorable and in sync
Deuce/Ace is a new one for me one I didnt expect because Deuce didn’t really appeal to me, Until I drew him and oh man I got it bad for Deuce now and I think they would be very SHY together like first love holding hands and BLUSHING BECAUSE ITS SO LEWD
SanjiZoro (yes) you read that right, I think zoro is a bottom bitch and sanji tops - purely for the fact I like changing the norms up with super popular pairings like them - Sanji gets to feel more idk in control? Like I personally feel Sanji would struggle with loving a man and all the toxic masculinity stuff he cornered himself into, bottom sanji isnt a bad thing and i like the fight he always goes through in letting zoro take control but YOU KNOW WHAT they switch I like healthy zosan sanzo whatever ignore what i was trying to say lol - Omega Zoro tho sets me on fire i love it so much
UsoppSanji - very cute ok I think they are like a basket of kittens - although ZoroSanjiUsopp is UH GREAT??? Usopp thinking he’s not good enough but these two bearing down on their sniper king like YEAH YOURE HOT AF BRO its very bromancy but they also hold hands together and kiss USOPP HAS TWO HANDS
But also Usopp and Kaya is just sweetness
Aaaand uh SengokuGarp (listen IF DRAGON EXISTS I KNOW GARP HAD A LADY BUT SENGOKUGARP IS FUN)
Some pleasure ships that I’m not embarrassed about and love very much haha:
Shanks/Ace, Rayleigh/Ace, Jinbe/Ace, Sabo/Ace or specifically Marco/Sabo/Ace
-
Not for Me ships
Smoker and Ace, i get it I Really do it so be like that but :/// idk I’ve never been very into Smoker, My gf is obssessed with him🤣 maybe im having lingering hard feelings bc he steals my girl everytime he shows up…. Im kidding Smoker just aint it not when MARCO EXISTS HELLo??? (I also think post time skip Smoker is ugly, his pre timeskip design is wayyyy better)
Sanji Ace - again i totally see the appeal, I also love the idea of all the strawhats having a crush on Ace but thats it just a crush - idk I can’t see Sanji doing one night stands or long distance relationships - he seems like the kind of guy who needs daily affection, love and affirmations and Ace can’t give that to him imo, i think theyre cute and compatible but because of Sanjis nature i dont see it working out, and I dont like long distance relationships due to originally trying so hard in one myself and basically getting neglected (im not saying im projecting but Sanji probably would feel the same, not that Ace is neglectful but it takes time to send letters and travel to see each other on the grandline) - SO TLDR; definitely cute but not for me
- Hard no ships - I dont really have any? Love is love and love what you love haha but I gotta say
Anything with Teach - is he even paired with anyone?
Doflamingo with either Cora or Law is frankly upsetting - he’s a horrible person and I can’t personally see how he’s attractive, he’s repulsive and seeing noncon stuff with him and Law or Crocodile etc is gross

Marco’s Bauble Part 3 - a One Piece Mermaid AU Text Story
Here’s part 3 of the Marco’s Bauble story, posted last month on Patreon!
Finally, an appearance from Marco himself ^ ^
Contains mention of Marco x Luffy.
Continues off of, and should be read after:
👒🐟Marco’s Bauble Part 1
👒🐟Marco’s Bauble Part 2
~~
Namur takes great pride in being a fishman in the Whitebeard Pirates.
Fishmen and merfolk are usually usually reluctant to join human-dominated organizations, and with good reason, given their long and painful history of suffering prejudice. And for those few who do feel the call of pirating, joining Jinbe and the Sun Pirates to be among their own kind is a natural and comfortable choice.
Jinbe's a good friend, and Namur has nothing but the highest respect for him and Aladine, but he's already chosen who to follow.
Pops, who stood up and protected Fishman island with just one word. Pops, who lets them keep his flag on the island without any tribute, which not even the world government would allow. Pops, who personally brings the wrath of colossal waves and quaking earth every time humans try to bring trouble to the undersea oasis.
Namur knew that he'd be alone among humans, but he trusts Pops, and trusts those who follow him and protect his home alongside him. And given everything he's done for Fishman Island, Namur feels it only fitting that fishmen be represented on the crew.
And so Namur became the first Fishman to join the Whitebeard pirates, but he wasn't the last. By the time Namur had been raised to the rank of 8th Division Commander, a handful of others had joined, along with a number of other people from various tribes considered not quite fully human. Some minks, some longarms, even one guy from a sky island.
In a crew as massive as theirs, diversity isn't surprising, and Pops has ensured they've never been alienated. Even so, the 8th Division became a natural gathering spot for those seeking others who are also a little different, and Namur's damn proud of his versatile, unique division that can handle missions that no other group can.
Namur's happiest aboard the Moby, and it's his one true home now. But at the same time, after spending so much time away from Fishman island, he sometimes misses his birth homeland and culture.
Which is why it feels like reverse culture shock when something familiar appears in front of him with no warning.
Like right now. On Marco's desk.
"Uh," Namur says eloquently, reports in his hand forgotten, eyes glued to the Thing that Marco's now wrapping in what looks like a letter, written in Marco's unmistakable elegant cursive.
"Sorry, I'll be done in a second, yoi," Marco says, and Namur freezes, realizing he must have intruded on possibly a very private moment--except Marco doesn't seem particularly bothered.
Well, even if Marco doesn't mind, Namur still feels awkward, and forces himself to avoid looking at the now-wrapped Thing. He really feels like he just saw something he shouldn't have. Had he knocked before coming in? He thought he had. He thought Marco had told him to come in, but now he's not so sure, because dropping by Marco's office to hand in reports is so habitual. Namur begins to sweat.
"Alright, what is it?"
Marco turns around, and he's wearing those glasses he always wears when he has to pour over documents for hours, that somehow make the legendary Phoenix look less like a terrifying warrior and more like an exhausted secretary. He's wearing his usual open shirt, Pops's mark proudly emblazoned on his chest, and his head still looks like a tropical fruit, and his face still looks kinda stoned. So, the usual Marco. Nothing amiss.
But maybe he's just hiding it. Humans can be so hard to read at times, and Marco wears his poker face better than most. Even though Namur's been his crew mate for roughly twenty years now, he still can't really see through it. Namur fidgets, palms feeling slick.
"Reports from the Eighth's last mission?" Marco prompts, and Namur flinches because oh, he'd been staring.
"Uh, yeah," he forces out, and raises his arm mechanically to pass over the bundle of documents he'd spent the entire morning writing up.
He notices that Marco uses his right hand to take it. He's heard that sometimes, humans wear the equivalent of the Thing on their left hand, and Namur realizes he hasn't seen (or perhaps just hasn't noticed) Marco's left hand in a while. He wonders if Marco's actually hiding it, and sneakily tries to peek at Marco's left side.
Apparently not sneakily enough, because Marco's sharp eyes flick to his side to try to catch what he must have thought Namur was trying to see, and Namur hastily straightens.
They stare at each other and the silence stretches awkwardly, and oh, Namur can tell this one, Marco looks very Confused. It comes off as sorta constipated, but Namur knows Marco well enough recognize the emotion on his questionably human face, and immediately feels bad. He didn't mean to act suspiciously, or snoop in Marco's personal life, but...he's so unbearably curious.
Namur supposes honesty is better.
"Marco," he tries to choose his words carefully, "that, on your desk..." Namur makes a vague jerky motion at the Thing.
"Oh, this?" Marco plucks up the little bundle that's now tied off with twine. "I was just going to send it off to Thatch."
Namur chokes on his own spit.
"You're, Th-Thatch?" Namur wheezes. "You're giving...to him?!"
Namur feels like he's just been sucked into a whirlpool, his world's suddenly tilting in every direction all at once. He doesn't have a problem with them being, y'know! Of course not! He supports his friends! It's just, well, he's surprised, because he'd never even suspected these particular brothers were anything but close friends, because it's Marco and Thatch, and he's been living with them for twenty years and--oh no, did everyone other than Namur actually know all along, is this Human Stuff again--
"Oh, no," Marco says with a soft laugh. "This isn't for him, yoi. He's just delivering it for me. It's for Ace's little brother."
Namur heaves out a huge sigh of relief. It's not Thatch. Oh thank goodness. Not that he doesn't think that Marco and Thatch wouldn't be great together. But. He's glad it wasn't just Namur misunderstanding...
Namur chokes on his own spit, again.
"Ace's little brother?" he tries hard not to shriek, and it comes out even tinier than expected, barely a whisper of a strangled sardine.
Marco frowns a bit at Namur's weird voice and offers him a bottle of fresh water from his side desk, which Namur shakily accepts. This is a lot to process.
"She's...ah, Ace said it's alright if Division Commanders know, but try not to spread this around too much. But she's a mermaid. I thought it'd be fitting," Marco says, shrugging nonchalantly.
"Ah," Namur nods, feeling numb. That does make a lot of sense, far more sense than giving That to Thatch at least.
A mermaid. Ace referring to his mermaid sister as "brother" also makes plenty of sense, given how vulnerable mermaids are in the world of pirates. In fact, it makes so much sense, and Namur wants to applaud Ace's discretion, he didn't seem the type to have that kind of tact and Namur's genuinely impressed, but his mind's also kind of overloaded right now.
"Although, Namur, since you're here..." Marco looks down at the parcel, dwarfed in his palm. "Do you think she'll like it? Or is it too bold, from someone she's never even met?"
It might be a trick of the light but...does Marco look, demure?
Namur's eyes bug out.
Holy shit. This is the real deal.
Namur's never known Marco to have a personal life or interest in anyone, the man's the definition of dedicating his life to the crew. But perhaps he was just being discreet, because surely everyone has a some soft spot or another, and Namur has just found Marco's.
And they've never even met?! They have a long distance relationship too. She's all the way in East Blue, and they correspond via letters and packages. All those oceans between them...
And on top of that, a mermaid and phoenix. She, bound in water, reaching up for the unattainable, while he, bound to the sky, doomed to drown if he touches her domain...like epic lovers torn apart by fate, just like the fairy tale of the fish princess and the bird, beloved by all fishmen and merfolk...
Namur feels his eyes sting a bit from the tragic romance of it all. But now Ace and Thatch have gone to retrieve her, and she'll be coming home to the Moby Dick soon. They'll be united. They'll get their happy ending.
Namur reigns in his overflowing emotions, remembering that he has an important task.
Do you think she'll like it? Or is it too bold?
Marco has consulted in Namur, his closest friend, his fishman expert confidant. This is his time to shine, his chance to give back a little for all the kindness and support Marco's shown him all these years. And Namur will not disappoint.
Namur composes himself, and then takes his reports back from Marco's hand, letting them go because they're suddenly utterly unimportant in light of Marco's blossoming future. He then grasps the now-empty hand, so warm and human, with both of his webbed ones. Marco's eyes widen in alarm as the papers flutter all around them, but Namur ignores them.
"Marco, I promise you, she'll love it," Namur pours every ounce of sincerity he has into his words, and feels his eyes begin to water again from the weight of it all. "I just want to say, I'm super happy for you, brother, and you can come to me for anything."
Marco stares at Namur, and Namur wills him to understand the depth of Namur's dedication to helping his dreams come true.
"...Right. Thanks, yoi?"
Namur doesn't see Marco's eyebrows climb up into his little mop of hair, doesn't notice him try and fail to extract his hand, doesn't notice him looking completely and utterly lost.
Because Namur's so overwhelmed. They grow up so fast! His friend's taking his next big step in life! And Namur gets to see it through! Being alive is incredible!
~~
Namur leaves eventually, and Marco stares blankly after him, hand still cramped from being death-gripped by the fishman for who knows how long.
He has no idea what just happened.
He then looks at the reports that are now scattered across his entire office.
"...He could have at least picked them up, yoi..."
~~
~~
~~
Namur is this guy here.
While he's a canon chara, he's also bg, and like most of Whitebeard's crew other than a core handful, we know very little about him and his personality and backstory is entirely me making it up ^ ^;
Next up in Marco's Bauble #04:
Namur values his crew's privacy. And given that he doubts he was even supposed to see Marco's secret, he absolutely can't disclose it to anyone.
Which is why he's snuck into Izo's room at ass o'clock in the morning, when everyone but the morning shift is asleep, but Izo's awake because he takes a few hours doing his hair and makeup.
Anyway, if you got through to the end, thank you so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed!
As always, comments/reblogs/tags always immensely appreciated!!! <3 People sharing their thoughts with me motivates me to write so much more, and update more frequently, so thank you so much for everyone who’s so kindly done so in the past!! ;A;

Compass Left Behind
Ao3 - One Piece, Gen, Modern AU, Look for Warnings! (See Ao3), Focus on Straw Hats.
Word Count: 2,847
-
When Ace dies in a flurry of fast motions and undeniable death (gun fight – a gang fight, Akainu fire arson why were you born- oh god it burns) Luffy screams at the pain of being alone. His brothers are dead, Shanks spirited away into the wind, Garp, military (abusive) and untrustworthy, and Makino and Dadan’s gang, underserving of this mess.
Luffy is 14 when he becomes completely abandoned, and he is 14 when the thought whispers into his mind
Why? Why am I alone? It shouldn’t be this way - Never should be this way. Where are they?
And so he starts to search.
-
Monkey D. Luffy first whispered into their lives with the soft smile on Zoro’s sunlit face as he wandered home from school. This smile last for the week, a week of Koushirou’s adopted son seeming more complete and alive than he has ever before - and then he is gone, katanas packed away with sturdy clothes and tracking chip pulled out of his phone
Koushirou wonders about the boy who Zoro mentioned only once (I met someone today – his name is (and the way he said the name sounded like a king)) but accepts it. Zoro always had the spirit of a wanderer in him - but it never seemed to belong just to him.
He reports Zoro’s disappearance to the authorities but it gets buried. Somethings were not meant to be - somethings were meant to be lost to the world (Zoro had always been lost – always had an internal compass that only pointed at one person.)
Koushirou hopes the boy he raised (in place of a daughter who died) is happy now.
-
They meet Nami in the mall, her life safe at last and her family and their tangerine farm whole and unharmed. There is nothing stopping her from saying no when Luffy stretches out hand, to stay with her family who have no recognition of the name Arlong.
But she takes the hand anyway, the weight she never knew was there lifting off of her. She was supposed to be a navigator for a big company in the fall, with big rewards, perfect for a girl who had no interest of spending big bucks at college
But she drops it all and takes the hand offered.
And well -
That is that.
(They, piled into Luffy’s (Ace’s) old custom flame-detailed Camaro, make for an odd bunch with Luffy’s scars and Zoro’s swords and Nami’s maps and money bags (and three shriveled tangerine tree seeds kept in a golden locket) but they could not care less.)
-
Usopp joins them three states over and for once does not lie - he speaks truthfully about the pull he feels, like waves to the moon’s commands, like a compass to the north and laments that maybe he’ll meet his dad on the road - out in the big wide radiant west.
He brings along a ride and tall tales, a reminder that there’s joy in the smallest of things.
(Kaya, they learn, is a name not to be spoken for she died a year ago, officially due to an illness. Unofficially, Usopp tells them of a butler who had a history in poison and botany, and how his claws quickly sunk into the family riches once the orphan girl passed away suddenly.
This is not a tale of heroes or interference in carefully laid plans- this is a tale of people finding home and family.
And Kaya, while she had a place in Usopp’s heart, never had a place aboard the sunny, beloved ship (home) in their dreams of before.)
-
Sanji kicks them from his restaurant, freshly inherited from Zeff who died three months previous, four times until he finally caves and agrees to go with them.
The chefs and waiters are happy to see him go, even if his boyfriend, Gin, isn’t (he’ll miss him, can’t he see that?).
The restaurant was never the twenty-two-year old’s dream, only a prison made of a debt and a soured paternal love and the staff knew that.
They do not understand what makes these strangers so important to him, but they do not stop him from leaving, from kissing his mafia boyfriend one last passionate time, from signing restaurant over to his most trusted workers and hopping in the car with two teens and a young adult.
It was never their place to know what made him so weary of food being stolen.
(Besides. His cigarettes were clogging up the air.)
-
They never meet Vivi. They only ever hear of her in newspapers clippings, proclaiming that the last princess of Alabasta perished during an uprising in her kingdom.
(It’s not a world of heroes and happiness, in this life)
The story is sad in general, but they are even more so because more than it being a tragic tale, they never got to meet her again.
(But they knew she would never, ever stay, no matter how hard they begged. Her heart belonged to the desert sun and the sand beneath feet, and the people hailing her name. Some things are constant like that.)
-
Chopper, prodigy and fully-fledged doctor at the age of twenty-six, takes one look at them and quits his job at his adopted father’s old clinic.
No one comments on how though he is the eldest, everyone ruffles his hair like he is the youngest.
No one talks about the little cherry blossoms and antlers embroidered on his sweater, or the way he despisesmushrooms.
No one mentions the way he gapes at Zoro and Luffy, one with too little scars (though they are thankful for that) and one with far, far too many.
(He’ll pass creams to both of them, helping smooth it over Luffy’s back and arms and chest and face and just anywhere really (so many scars - skin didn’t scar this easily before) and letting Zoro do his own, spreading the cool substance over his chest and ankles and face (but never his back - would be a shame if he did), places that had always ached mysteriously previously, and always during storms like Luffy’s did now)
-
Robin comes into their lives silently, appearing in the back of the Merry (Usopp’s mothers old Volkswagen van that he inherited, that he and Kaya had painted with pictures of seas and sheep and dreaming words before ... everything) one day and never leaving after that.
There are no doubts that she belongs with them - not this time, and not ever again. She brings a multitude of books with her and helps finishes Zoro’s and Luffy’s spotty education, filling in gaps of knowledge with care and love.
She never speaks of genocide, never speaks of the circling brand on her left shoulder blade, and the haunted look in here eye but she doesn’t have to.
Like before, the past does not matter here, with them.
(Unlike before, the only thing that does matter is them - there are no dreams in this concrete world, only slowly filling in the ache of where were you and I was alone.)
-
The blue haired man who tried to steal their car is Franky, and this time only his arm and nose are metal - it doesn’t make him any less strong or big though. Once he sees the little keychain of a straw hatted jolly roger, custom made, hanging on the mirror, however, he stops, sitting there in the front seat, the wires already hotwired, and smiles. That’s where they find him, and after only the briefest of introductions (for they all know each other already, really, in some inescapable way) and goodbyes (the Franky family are still family but the world is crueler now then then, and bonds like that aren’t meant to stay (but bonds like theirs are)) they leave after a small pitstop.
Merry cannot hold him (cannot hold three more people, they need more) and so it is a near blessing in disguise when Merry is forced to be ripped away from them by a bad car accident - a cop careening down the road after a clown with a sword (an odd sight but not the oddest. They were all more worried about clinging together and making sure they were all alive). No fights happen between them (they do not know how they would take it if one of them walked away - they don’t know if they even can now that they’ve found each other).
Instead, they watch as Franky commandeers his brother’s company for one week, and creates a home on the road for them. Simple and deceiving on the outside yet extravagantly homey within, the extremely luxurious and custom RV is familiar enough with a small shielded garden on the top, a library within and couches and bunks soft and plush to rest their weary head.
Sunny, they decide to call the RV, now detailed on the side in bold, dreamful lettering with a painted lion face, for all the sunny days they will have together.
(They’re almost complete.)
-
Brook sees them in the crowd and steps off his stage, disappearing into the night. His fans are disappointed and the rest of the world confused - where had the man gone?
The man himself is gaunt, brittle and bone like, which is only accented by his skeletal make up, but he laughs and cracks jokes with them all, one more puzzle piece, one more weapon to defeat the battle that is loneliness.
His music soothes them to bed with the sweetest tunes, and the songs he releases to the public are more popular than ever - for they have something the old Brook used to have but thought he never would again.
The love of family.
(He does not speak of years spent by the coast, playing songs with other folk and whales, as they danced happily to the breeze. He does not speak of tsunamis and death and wondering why he above all others survived because he knows why - so the loneliness would end when he was with them.)
-
Jinbe is last and when they break him free from the prison on the coast, it is all they can do not to cry with relief. They are whole again, never mind the mafia and government after them thanks to Jinbe’s escape, they can breathe again.
When they collapse inside Sunny, far away from the lights that searched for them, bandages applied to broken boys (why did he have so many scars?) and smiles given, they do cry, and Jinbe envelopes them all with a hug until they fall backward into a giant, happy dog pile.
He is warm and big and steers them in the right direction, just as he always did. The last part of the puzzle is complete and now they can be free with each other instead of trapped alone.
(Jinbe is the first to know about the beginning, what happened to their captain in this life, (for he knew Ace as well) and he does not forgive himself for not being there like he was before. But he does pray to and thank every god he knows that Luffy was able to get up alone - and find them all.
It’s a miracle, really. (It’s what he was known for))
-
Together they travel, making money in dubious ways (street performance and thievery among them – stealth is a skill that Luffy has somehow acquired now but they do not like to think about how) and having as much adventure and life as they can before their time inevitably runs out.
They travel and learn about each other what makes them different from before (they learn what before was.)
They learn of new ages (Luffy 14, Zoro 16, Nami 18, Usopp 20, Sanji 22, (Vivi would be 24) Chopper 26, Robin, like before 28, Franky 30, Brook 32, and Jinbe, 34 - two years apart for the two years they spent apart. They wished their youngest weren’t so young,) new habits (video game design was what Usopp was going to go to college for, once he had saved enough) and the things that stayed the same (Nami can still haggle prices down to a quarter of the original price, and Zoro still uses three katanas.)
It’s a good life, a happy life. They found each other again - how could it not be?
-
Of course - not everything’s perfect. It comes back to them in the little moments
It’s In the way Zoro will sit himself beside the door on rainy days, ready to catch anyone who slips; in the way Nami hoards money like she’ll die without it and what she’ll be willing to sacrifice for it (herself and others but never her family), in the way that Usopp, though understanding, will lurch whenever someone seems just a tad too sad and frantically tell a tale as if everyone’s life depended on it, and the way he’s wary of every trusting, loyal servant they come across.
It’s in the way Sanji won’t eat if someone else wont (all too common, none of them are okay with food sometimes, even Luffy, who will sometimes stop eating randomly, or Zoro, who occasionally forgets he can keep eating) or in the way Chopper will quadruple check every medical thing he does when not in an emergency.
It’s in the way Robins mind goes blank at certain books and the way her fingers tremble even when doing something she loves; in the way Franky will ghost his hand over his nose and arm and belly and scars and remember the day everything was lost; in the way that Brook can’t stand foggy nights that become like his mind occasionally, clouded and alone.
And especially it’s in the way the Luffy, Luffy who used to never be afraid (because rubber couldn’t hurt, at least not easily), will flinch and snag fingers in Zoro’s or Jinbe’s clothing, arms taut and eyes wide, trembling and so abruptly quiet and push whatever food on his plate away whenever voices raise or fists fly in the kitchen (only ever the kitchen), and will shriek and go silent, crouched in a ball if its directed at him - (The kitchen area is a no fight zone now, if they have to do it they do it beyond the divider and in the other areas while the rest distract Luffy.) It’s in the way Luffy has far too many scars (from punches and kicks and being thrown off balconies and cliffs from supposedly loving hands, from fights in back alleys and scrambling to survive – he’s only 14 and before it wouldn’t faze them but this world is so much more real in the way the other wasn’t) and in the way one used to be able to count each individual rib on his side.
No.
It’s the little moments that hurt the worse.
-
But there are also happy moments, happiness found in places one wouldn’t think to look.
Like being chased by cars flashing red and blue lights, in a flame detailed beat up Camaro, like seeing how high cola rockets could blast, like finally hearing the end to Robin’s memorized bed time story that spoke of pirates of old and new, and sunny days always looking toward the horizon.
Like being there to see Zoro and Luffy, always on the same page, experience something for the first time, like the high school dance they snuck into or the stars on the unlit coast (well that was a first for most actually). Like seeing Brook’s guitar strum a special song just for each of them, or having Chopper give special band aids for each of them (Luffy’s had pirates, Zoro’s tigers, Nami’s tangerines, Usopp’s birds, Sanji’s hearts and Franky’s gears. Robin and Brook were more careful so everyone was still vying to see what design they would get)
It was the joys that built them up again
-
And it was the experiences that reminded them of who they were
Because no matter the world, no matter the life now or the life before, Luffy would always have the soul of a conqueror, of a king- and the rest of them would always be his most loyal crew.
These experiences included back alley fights and dealings and tussles with gangs, included hunting down Ace’s killer and killing him in return (because none of them are perfect, even now) in breaking out of prison as a family (whoever thought of imprisoning them all together made a mistake) to shielding Luffy from his grandfather when the mere mention let alone actually meeting with the man made him tremble and near cry.
It was falling from the mountain Skypeia, miraculously making it out alive and visiting Fishman Island off the coast of the southern continent. It was visiting Venice and Antarctica and the pyramids and breaking into historical places (but being respectful because robin loved history) and everything amazing in-between.
And it was being together that made it all worth it - because in this life they didn’t have dreams to reach for, to strive for, to devout their lives towards. They just had each other.
And that was enough

Sailor Ace AU deleted scene
@justm3h remember this bit?
That five day fight with Jinbe tho. Well, in this case, on like day three Jinbe goes, “You are a worthy opponent! Allow me to show you my true power! Jupiter Power Make Up!” And Ace is just like, “you’ve got to be shitting me right now, seriously, I can’t go three damn islands without running into a sailor scout, seriously, be honest here, am I a sailor scout magnet?” And Jinbe’s like, “…?” And Ace holds his own for like a day more and then finally says “bugger all this for a lark fuck it fine MOON PRISM POWER MAKE UP — what. What are you doing. Why are you kowtowing. Get up. We’re fighting.” “OMG I’M SO SORRY I CAN’T FIGHT YOU I SHOULD’VE NEVER RAISED A HAND AGAINST YOU MY PRINCESS I’M SORRY HIGHNESS FORGIVE MEEEEEE” “i–what. Can we just go back to fighting? Oh, c'mon, get off my leg, no, nooooo, not with the tears, c'mon, c'moooooon”
