2022 kdrama/movie roundup!

It was a tough year for keeping up with anything because life, toddler, etc, but here are the things I watched, in part or whole, that I remembered. Hot Takes Incoming!

Sell Your Haunted House - Jang Nara in boots. Kang Mal-geum in dark lipstick. Touching, gay, many mother issues. The girls were fantastic. The boys weren't bad.

25 21 - I was dropped back into the 90s. Surprisingly, I didn't hate it. The girls were fantastic. Na Hee-do was correct to dump Baek Yi-jin. Moon Ji-woong, perfect boy. Ji Seung-wan for PRESIDENT!

Why Her? - Someone thought it'd be a great idea to throw Seo Hyun-jin's ex-client (shudder) current-student (TRIPLE SHUDDER) Hwang In-yeop into the romance mix when billionaire CHOI YOUNG-JOON and Crown Prince Bae In-hyuk were already there. And they thought it'd be funny if Hwang In-yeop won. NO.

Eve - The superior commentary this year on the horrors of capitalism. It ends with reparations (Park Byung-eun hands over his entire empire to Seo Yeji, who promptly divests it), rich people dying in horrible ways and Seo Yeji doing the tango. Were the makjang knobs dialled up so high they're broken? Yes. Was it fun? YES, because I got to see Park Byung-eun's range, which includes Pained Hottie, and Seo Yeji running men's feet over in cars wearing couture. We can ask for no more.

Juvenile Justice - No one asked "What happens if we take three of the most charismatic working actors in Korean entertainment today and squeezed the life out of them?" But someone answered anyway.

My Liberation Notes - Lee El, a revelation. Mr Gu, a revelation when he started talking, and not the good kind.

Grid - Kim Mu-yeol. Kim Ah-joong and Jang So-yeon had a great year. I didn't understand the time thing at all. This is a me problem, but probably the only time I'll face it this year. Right? RIGHT?

Bloody Heart - Jang Hyuk has done nothing wrong, ever. The girls were fantastic. Lee Joon, I heard your script was meant for Lee Joon-hyuk. Sorry.

Pachinko - The girls were fantastic. Kim Min-ha, baby, you're gorgeous. JUNG EUN-CHAE was everything. Sorry to Lee Min-ho, who had the tough double role of acting as Ko Hansu and also like he belonged to this cast of greats.

Our Blues - Great acting, but my own blues were sufficient for me. The girls were fantastic. Unwanted to wanted pregnancy storyline: no thanks. This is a me problem, but probably the only time I'll face it this year. Right? RIGHT?

Extraordinary Attorney Woo - 75% love; 25% NOT THIS AGAIN.

Little Women - The girls were fantastic. I ran out of air by this point in the year. I'll come back for you, gothic interior design, poison orchids, and Song Joong-ki in the best role he's played all year!

Through the Darkness - Almost too many twirling moustache psychos and dead girls. I did it for Kim Nam-gil because he's so pretty in this and in case it wasn't abundantly clear by now, I don't think with my brain. The lone living girl - Kim So-jin - was fantastic. Jin Seon-kyu, well-adjusted stealth hottie!

Reborn Rich - Samsung owes Lee Sung-min its entire semiconductor business as @rain-hat said. Lee Sung-min owes me reparations for making me watch this show for him primarily (secondarily Park Hyuk-kwon, Kim Shin-rok, Park Ji-hyun and Kim Nam-hee for their acting; Kim Young-jae because he is THE DILF). I'm manifesting NO TIMESLIPS in 2023 dramas.

Under the Queen's Umbrella - Kim Hye-soo pushing up her hanbok sleeves to carry babies and do embroidery should be projected onto my tombstone unto eternity. The girls were fantastic. And I know this is unusual, so bear with me, but: the boys? FANTASTIC ALSO.

Movies:

Vikram - Fahaadh Faasil, my thoughts are nasty and you don't want to hear them. The girls might have been fantastic had they been permitted to live and not be dumdums. That was never going to happen, of course. There was torture and a baby in significant peril, but it was also the most fun I'd had in a while. I should get my head checked.

Ponniyin Selvan - The sheer scale of work and sweat that has gone into the enterprise of making Vikram seem taller than Trisha Krishnan for the last twenty years! Iconic. The girls were fantastic.

The Naked Kitchen - This is sold as a story of a woman choosing between two men. That is a lie. It's about a man coming to terms with his marriage drifting into polyamory, and enjoying it. Shin Min-ah and Ju Ji-hoon fuck in a museum, which was also weirdly sweet.

Asura City of Madness - AHJUSSHIS WHY. Hwang Jung-min's shirttails worked very hard in 2012. Jung Woo-sung ate glass and has pathological issues about being as handsome as he is. We love him for it. We did not love this.

Hunt - Love is your bestie learning how to write and direct just to write and direct you in the role of a lifetime for you, personally. I don't know if that's what happened here, but that's what love is. And chemistry is whatever these two guys have in this completely ordinary movie that did not give any feelings. Hwang Jung-min, pussy OUT.

Decision to Leave - A well-deserved love letter to Tang Wei, just beautifully shot, gorgeous.

Il Mare - Absolutely lovely little film, reliant almost entirely on the star power of two actors who are so charismatic they don't need to meet in the movie to convince you of their romance.

Laal Singh Chaddha - There was a very beautiful wedding at the end. Aamir Khan's face must hurt.

Darlings - A movie that appreciated and respected noted hottie Shefali Shah.

Lee Jae-wook ♥ Go Yoon-jung kiss love confirmation

Lee Jae-wook and Go Yoon-jung saved Hwang Min-hyun and confirmed each other's feelings.

In the 7th episode of tvN's Saturday and Sunday drama, 'The Haunted Marriage 2: Light and Shadow' (written by Hong Jeong-eun, Hong Mi-ran/directed by Park Joon-hwa), which aired on December 31st, Jang-wook (Lee Jae-wook) and Jin Bu-yeon (Go Yoon-jeong) confirmed their love.

Seo-yul (Hwang Min-hyeon) was in danger of death due to bloodworms, and Jang-wook (Lee Jae-wook) was angry with Jin-mu (Cho Jae-yoon). Jinmu wondered how the bloodworm he put into Soi (Seo Hye-won) got into Seo-yul's body, but got down on his knees and asked Jin Ho-gyeong (Park Eun-hye) for help to rectify the situation.

Before Jang-wook gets angry at Jin-mu, he goes to Jin-ho-gyeong and asks for her help, but when Jin-ho-gyeong cuts him off and says that he is not interested in Seo-yul's life or death, she threatens Jin-mu and even moves Jin-ho-gyeong. Jin Ho-gyeong told her how to use the flower bird in her Jin agent to get her bloodworm out, and demanded that her daughter Jin Bu-yeon (Go Yun-jeong) be returned to Jin agent instead. Jang-wook accepted the request.

Jin Bu-yeon touched the fallen Seo-yul and found some memories of her past. Jin Bu-yeon said, "There's no way I could have gone to Seo-yul and her Danhyang-gok," and she was in confusion, but she just kicked him out, saying that Heo Yoon-ok (Hong Seo-hee) was a hindrance, so she couldn't find more of her memories. couldn't

Jang-wook and Crown Prince Go-won (Shin Seung-ho) entered the agent of Jin and searched for flowers and birds, and Jin Bu-yeon held Seo-yul's bloodworm beads in her mouth and accompanied her. Reseña de Hwayugi / A Korean Odyssey (2018)

SINOPSIS

Es una versión moderna de la novela clásica china llamada "Journey to the West". La historia muestra la vida de Jin Seon Mi AKA Sam Jang (Oh Yeon Seo) que tiene la habilidad de ver fantasmas y quien por cosas del destino, en su infancia se cruza con Woo Hwi Chul AKA Ma Wang (Cha Seung Won), el Rey Demonio, un extraño ser que le pide un favor; mientras Seon Mi realiza el favor conoce a Son Oh Gong (Lee Seung Gi), el Rey Mono, otro extraño ser que termina engañándola. Debido a este incidente Seon Mi sufre muchos problemas. Cuando es adulta, vuelve a encontrarse con Woo Hwi Chul y Son Oh Gong, lo que provoca que las vidas de todos se compliquen.

A Korean Odyssey (AKA Hwayugi) me llamó la atención mucho antes de leer la sinopsis o siquiera conocer a Lee Seung Gi, el título, me parecía muy interesante pero por alguna razón que no recuerdo, no me animé a verlo creyendo que no me gustaría. Ese fue otro de mis grandes errores como doramaniaca. Lo empecé a ver a principios de octubre y déjenme decirles que el timing que elegí fue PERFECTO, pues pese a no pertenecer al género del terror, sí pertenece al de fantasía, por lo que hay seres sobrenaturales como dioses, demonios y fantasmas (claro que nada aterrador). Por lo que lo amé desde el primer capítulo.

Primero hablemos de Lee Seung Gi porque él y su personaje merece un párrafo exclusivamente para él. A Korean Odyssey (AKA Hwayugi) fue el primer kdrama que filmó después de haber finalizado su servicio militar en el 2017 y… algo le hizo el servicio militar, ¡algo! Lee Seung Gi pre military service es guapo y cute pero Lee Seung Gi post military service es cute, sexy af y masculino, muy masculino (ni siquiera sabía que me gustaban los hombres masculinos hasta que empecé a leer y ver más videos del actor). Cuando vean el primer capítulo de Hwayugi, sabrán de lo que hablo, se enamorarán al instante.

Son Oh Gong, el personaje protagonista interpretado por Lee Seung Gi tiene una personalidad fuerte, muy fuerte, es impulsivo y realmente puede golpear. Si hay una escena con Son Oh Gong en él pueden esperarse de todo, especialmente en las escenas de besos ;) su personaje sí que sabe como disfrutar de los placeres carnales.

Respecto a Jin Seon Mi, su personaje de niña me enamoró; sin embargo, me tomó un poco más de tiempo amar a su personaje de adulta. Quizá no me gustó la manera de actuar de la protagonista o que el personaje al principio no tenía mucha personalidad más allá de ver espíritus; no obstante mejora con el pasar de los capítulos (eso o te acostumbras jeje).

El personaje de Ma Wang, interpretado por Cha Seung Won, es otro que me gustó por todo el amor y respeto que guardaba hacia su amada. Al principio creí que él era el antagonista, luego creí que él y Son Oh Gong eran los malos, después entendí que en esta historia no hay buenos ni malos; solo seres humanos y mágicos coexistiendo y luchando contra lo que ellos creen que esta mal.

Mención honorífica a los personajes de Jin Bu Ja (Lee Se Young, síp, la misma actriz que actuó en Doctor John) y P.K. AKA Jeo Pal Gye (Lee Hong Ki). Sus personajes, tanto individuales como pareja me encantaron. Amé el concepto propio de Zombie que crearon y el amor que P.K. tenía por Bu Ja. Lindo y desgarrador.

Lo único que no me gustó de la historia (pero que luego sí haha) fue la incorporación del brazalete. Despees del capítulo 3 empecé a dudar de que hubiera un correcto desarrollo de la historia de amor entre los personajes principales. Eso es lo que detesto en los kdramas de fantasía, muchos de ellos no saben desarrollar el amor entre la pareja principal.

Dije que al principio odié el concepto de enamoramiento causado por un brazalete, pero llegando al capítulo final todo tuvo sentido y me gustó porque realmente me desgarró el corazón… y para mí, el capítulo final fue muy triste, más triste que el de Goblin (síp, lo dije). Literal, el último capítulo es un martirio recordándote que Bu Ja y Jin Seon Mi murieron, que muchos murieron y que ya nada es igual :,( fue muy triste.

Review: This is a good series except for the fact that it is a cliff hanger. There are a lot of questions in my head after watching it but I heard that they're making a Season 2 so I hope that they can make up for it. People are saying that this show is overrated but despite that, I think that it is still good. Nam-ra is a good class president and she uses logic in every argument. I admire her self-control, to be honest. Cheong-san and Su-hyeok are a bit densed. They often get blinded by the fact that they like Nam-ra and On-jo. On-jo is immature but she's reliable and prepared for survival. I really can't blame Na-yeon. She might be self-absorbed but she's been misunderstood. My dad once said that whenever one commits a mistake, the first thing that they do is find someone to blame because they aren't able to process their whole actions. I understand their anger towards her because of what she did to Gyeong-su but she reflected on it and was trying to make it up to the group. Gwi-nam was really getting on my nerves. I must admit that he played the role really well. Dae-su's voice is heavenly! My favourite scene is probably when they were at the rooftop singing a song about their own survival. Ha-ri's archery skills were superb! Her story tackles the reality in the sports field. Not gonna lie, Min Eun-ji's admission to the quarantine center put a halt to the rescue operations. I don't see anything wrong with the precautionary measure taken by the head of the military. They couldn't risk the safety of the majority just because of 9 students. Jae-ik's will to help those who are in need is non commendable. He's truly a public servant. Hee-su's unexpected birth shocked me. Until the end, she protected her baby. Byeong-chan's intelligence and expertise in his field combined with his undying love for his son lead him to make the Jonas Virus. It makes me think how humans can lead to such actions once their loved ones are involved. Seon-mu's suicide was hard to get over with. My friends said that he was a bit selfish for killing himself and leaving his family behind. I have a different opinion from them that I can't put in this review because it is a heavy topic.

Lee Seo Gu was approached to write the 1961 movie because of the success of his radio drama Jang Hee Bin in the same year.

At 21 years old at the time of filming, Kim Ji Mi is tied with Lee Mi Suk as the youngest actor to portray Jang Hee Bin.

Jang Hee Bin (MBC, 1971)

There was a ‘lead actor famine’ for this drama, and so a 300,000-won prize (worth 5,984,227 won today) was offered at first for the lead role, before a vote was called.

Yun Yeo Jeong was voted to become Jang Hee Bin amidst candidates Yun Jeong Hee and Kim Ji Mi, who previously portrayed Jang Hee Bin in 1961.

Though MBC’s 1971 adaptation was wildly popular, lead actress Yun Yeo Jeong received major backlash for her role. She was even removed from CFs for Yunina Shampoo and Oransshi Soda because ‘her image as Jang Hee Bin was not good for the product’.

While filming the 1971 adaptation, MBC reported many threatening calls to end the network, pressure from the audience to bring Queen Inhyeon back to life, and an incident on set where an actor playing the role of Jang Hee Bin’s court lady was given a bowl of hot water instead of room temperature in an attempt to sabotage filming.

Eventually, the drama was rewritten so that Queen Inhyeon was reinstated sooner than expected.

Actress Kim Min Jeong (Queen Inhyeon) was cast for the role in the 1971 adaptation on a stairwell by writer Lee Seo Gu.

This adaptation is the first to portray a dramatic poison scene, a plot point that would become the climax of many more adaptations to come, with various embellishments.

No known footage of this adaptation remains. MBC only began archiving drama broadcasts from the mid-’70s.

At 154 daily episodes, this remains the longest adaptation of Jang Hee Bin by episode count.

A special was aired on January 31st, 1972 - two days after broadcast had concluded.

Women of Legend: Jang Hee Bin (MBC, 1981)

The first season of Women of Legend (MBC, 1981~1982) was actually going to be another adaption of the Hanjungrok, but the production was scrapped and Jang Hee Bin became the first season instead. Series writer Im Chung would later on write two adaptations of the Hanjungrok (Oh, Heaven! for KBS in 1988, and the King’s Pathway for MBC in 1998).

This adaptation became MBC’s highest rated drama during its broadcast.

The late Kim Mu Saeng played the role of Jo Sa Seok both in this version and Jang Hee Bin (SBS, 1995).

During broadcast, Lee Mi Suk, Lee Hye Suk (Queen Inhyeon) and Lee Miji (Queen Ingyeong) were referred to as the Three Beautiful Musketeers (미녀 삼총사).

Director Yu Gil Chon’s brother Yu In Chon was selected to play the role of Sukjong. Yu In Chon is currently South Korea’s Minister of Culture.

In 1986, Lee Mi Suk admitted that mixed reactions were given to her portrayal. She elaborated that older people hated her character, while younger women related to and empathized with the character.

This adaptation broadcasted on Mondays and Tuesdays at first, but was moved to Wednesdays and Thursdays from Episode 37.

Lee Mi Suk’s portrayal of Jang Hee Bin was popular with men at the time, as the way she acted in front of Sukjong was considered to be cute.

This adaptation and SBS’ 1995 remake are loosely based on the Records of Queen Inhyeon, a compilation of memoirs by Lady Lee, one of Queen Inhyeon’s court ladies.

500 Years of Joseon: Queen Inhyeon (MBC, 1988)

Actor Kim Seok Ok played the role of Queen Inhyeon’s stepmother both in 500 Years of Joseon: Queen Inhyeon (MBC, 1988) and Jang Hee Bin (KBS, 2002)

Kim Myeong Hee played the role of Ok Jeong’s shaman here as well as in KBS’ adaptation, for which she is more famous.

Jeon In Hwa and Lee Deok Hwa took up the roles of Jang Ok Jeong and Jang Hee Jae respectively. They would become brother and sister once more in SBS’ 2001 drama Ladies in the Palace.

Jeon In Hwa’s portrayal of Jang Hee Bin was not initially popular until her reentry into the Palace in Episode 27, as her graceful and elegant aura was seen as too in contrast to the conniving characters of MBC’s previous portrayals.

This adaptation is heavily based on the Joseon Annals, as opposed to the Records of Queen Inhyeon.

The poison scene in this adaptation was famous for Sukjong ordering that one of the doors be used to restrain Ok Jeong as she was fed the poison. This portrayal would be repeated in KBS’ 2002 adaptation.

Jang Hee Bin (SBS, 1995)

SBS’ 1995 adaptation uses the same script as MBC’s 1981 adaptation, written by Im Chung.

Im Chung’s son Im Ho took the role of Sukjong. Im Ho is world famous for his role as Jungjong in Dae Jang Geum (MBC, 2003).

Eom Yu Shin played the role of Prince Sungseon’s wife both in the 1995 and 2002 adaptations of Jang Hee Bin. She also played the role of Jang Hee Bin’s mother in MBC’s 1988 adaptation.

The 1995 adaptation was supposed to be broadcast after SBS’ 1994 drama Auld Lang Syne, but was delayed because of trouble finding a lead actor. Sandglass was broadcasted instead.

Jeong Seon Gyeong was only casted after refusals from Lee Young Ae, Kang Su Yeon and Shin Eun Jeong. Lee Young Ae would soon after become the lead actor of KBS’ West Palace.

This adaptation achieved ratings of up to 43%, but began to suffer during the broadcasts of KBS’ West Palace and Jang Nok Su.

Child actor Lee Jeong Hu played Queen Inhyeon in her first three years after entering the Palace. Kim Won Hee replaced her when Queen Inhyeon turned 18. Lee Jeong Hu died of cancer on December 10, 2016, at the age of 30.

The poison scene in Episode 63 is considered to be the closest in historical dramas to an accurate portrayal of what actually happens when someone drinks Joseon’s government arsenic poison.

The scene is also reputed for Jeong Seon Gyeong’s sudden retaliation in kicking the bowl of poison from a court lady’s hands.

Jang Hee Bin (KBS, 2002)

The lead role was first offered to Lee Young Ae, Song Yun Ah, Kang Su Yeon, Chae Shi Ra and Kim Hyeon Ju before Kim Hye Su took up the role.

Even so, audience reactions were not initially positive to her being chosen, saying that she was too glamorous for the role. Public opinion began to change once Ok Jeong gained the rank of Suk Won in Episode 24.

With 16 previous years of acting experience, Kim Hye Su is the most experienced actor to take the role of Jang Hee Bin.

Kim Hye Su’s casting also broke the tradition of casting young rookies for the role of Jang Hee Bin.

The ratings once dropped to as low as 6%, but its final episode garnered a 31.1% rating.

The show’s original writer Kim Seon Young is not only the first woman to write a televised adaptation of Jang Hee Bin, but also the first woman to write an authentic historical drama (정통사���). The format has been dominated by male writers since its import to Korea in 1981 through KBS’ The Grand Order.

A rivalry was brewing between production manager Kim Sang Hun and Outdoor Filming Director Han Cheol Gyeong, which escalated into an assault incident.

The show’s latter half was written by Kang Tae Wan, rumored to be 1st-generation TV writer Shin Bong Seung under a pseudonym. Shin wrote the 500 Years of Joseon adaptation in 1988.

Kim Eul Dong, portraying Court Lady Kwon (Hee Bin’s court lady) is the mother of Song Il Guk, who portrayed Western Faction activist Kim Chun Taek.

The role of Choi Suk Bin was offered to Kim Gyu Ri, Choi Yu Jeong and Hong Eun Hee before being given to Park Ye Jin from April 9th, 2003. The first three potential candidates happened to be filming for movies when the role was offered.

At 100 hour-long episodes, this remains the longest adaptation by runtime.

Dong Yi (MBC, 2010)

Some of the State Tribunal’s clothes were previously worn in Queen Seondeok (MBC, 2009).

Jang Hee Bin’s character was written much differently than in previous dramas. Her character was meant to be more mature, driven to her decisions out of support for her family and faction. However, while the show itself was successful, Lee So Yeon’s portrayal was often referred to as ‘uninteresting’.

Extra Choi Na Gyeong (not to be confused with flautist Jasmine Choi) gained much popularity after the broadcast of Episode 36 on July 28th, 2010, featuring as a Court Inspector during the Head Inspector's arrest. Referred to as the Tibetan Court Lady (티벳 궁녀) due to her perceived resemblance to the Tibetan fox, she would later on feature in a daily drama and a sitcom. Choi Na Gyeong also became the model for a character in mobile game Master Asia, and is an avid arcade game player herself. Her cameo in Dong Yi can be seen below.

Because of how differently Jang Hee Bin was written in comparison to previous adaptations, this adaptation is the first since 1968 to portray Jang Hee Bin as willingly drinking the poison that would lead to her death.

Jang Ok Jeong, Living in Love (SBS, 2013)

Despite Jang Ok Jeong’s portrayal in the drama as a fashion designer, viewers were displeased at the use of high heels and fashion mannequins, both anachronic to Joseon.

At 33 years old at the time of broadcast, Kim Tae Hee is the oldest actor to play the role of Jang Hee Bin.

The show is unfortunately considered a failure for SBS, with an average rating of only 11.3%. This puts the show behind its contemporaries Queen of Office (KBS, 13.2%) and Gu Family Book (MBC, 18.7%).

At 24 episodes, this is the shortest adaptation of Jang Hee Bin.

A historical accuracy dispute arose over the portrayal of Queen Inhyeon’s father Min Yu Jung. This led to the show being derided as a ‘fantasy drama’ by political drama fans.

Awalnya kami berpikir bahwa truk tersebut dikirimkan oleh fansite IU yang lain tetapi logonya tidak dapat kami temukan dimanapun. Merasa penasaran, kami pun bertanya pada pemilik truk kopi tersebut, ternyata truk kopi ini dikirimkan oleh IU dan kami pun...

Kami melihat ada foto-foto IU yang belum pernah kami lihat sebelumnya dan kami memotret foto-foto tersebut. Kami ingin membagikan kepada uaena-uaena lain namun staf drama menyuruh agar untuk saat ini kami tidak membocorkannya terlebih dahulu (untuk mencegah spoiler), sehingga kami hanya bisa... 

(merasa frustrasi)

Karena kami agak terlambat datang ke lokasi syuting, kami kemudian langsung mengemas 100 tas hadiah untuk anggota staf sambil memantau lokasi kalau-kalau IU datang.

Ketika kami menunggu hingga jam menunjukkan pukul 19:00, salah satu staf produksi melihat hadiah yang kami siapkan dan berseru, “Daebak (luar biasa), ada topi ember (bucket hat) juga!” sambil mencoba salah satunya. Dia mengambil belasan topi dan memberitahu kami jika dia akan membagikan topi-topi lainnya pada staf tim lain.

Salah satu anggota tim kami kemudian melihat ada mobil van putih yang datang dari jauh dan mengira bahwa mobil tersebut adalah mobil IU dan ternyata memang benar. Hye Seon (Stylist IU) dan Hanteo (manajer IU) turun dari mobil kemudian diikuti oleh IU yang menggunakan baju olahraga serta tanpa mengenakan riasan (terlihat sangat mungil).

Dia menyapa kami dan mengatakan akan segera kembali setelah mengenakan riasan.

Ketika menunggu IU, manajer Hanteo mencoba untuk memakai topi tersebut namun tidak bisa karena kurang besar untuk ukuran kepalanya. Dia kemudian menyapa kami dan menanyakan apakah kami sudah mengambil kopi (dari IU) atau belum.

Sekitar pukul 19:00, aktor Yeo Jin Goo sudah berganti baju kemudian makan malam dengan kebanyakan anggota staf. Beberapa staf mengetahui bahwa kami adalah penggemar dari Cina dan mereka mengucapkan terimakasih.

Akhirnya IU muncul setelah mengenakan riasan!!! Dia terlihat sangat anggun dalam gaun hitam (sedikit tembus pandang) dan rambut panjang berombak. Dia menyapa para staf lalu menuju ke tempat buffet.

Karena ada banyak tempat duduk yang sedang digunakan oleh para staf, kami menunggu hingga mereka meninggalkan tempat duduk mereka sebelum kami bergabung dengan IU untuk ikut makan malam. IU melambaikan tangannya dengan bersemangat dan menyuruh kami, “cepatlah kemari!”

Setelah mengetahui bahwa kami belum makan malam, IU mendesak kami untuk mengambil makanan dan bergabung dengannya untuk makan malam. IU berseru, “好吃! (enak dalam bahasa Cina)” membuat kami terkejut.

IU mencoba untuk berbicara dalam bahasa Cina sebaik mungkin karena ada dua anggota kami yang tidak mengerti bahasa Korea. Dia khawatir kami menunggunya terlalu lama saat cuaca sedang dingin dan mengatakan pada kami untuk berhati-hati agar tidak terkena flu (sangat perhatian). Meskipun kami memandangnya dari jarak sedekat itu, wajahnya hanya sekecil ini...

Dia memakai anting-anting dan kalung berbentuk bulan serta kukunya bercat merah. Dia sangat mungil dan kurus. Bajunya agak tembus pandang dan membuat kami semua sedikit malu...

IU tersentuh ketika melihat poster yang dibuat dari gambar-gambar para C-Uaena yang menulis "We are with IU" dan mengatakan kepada kami untuk berterima kasih kepada semua orang yang telah berkontribusi.

Ketika IU membaca sertifikat donasi kami, dia mengatakan bahwa dia terkesan dengan dedikasi kami dalam menyumbangkan pohon selama 3 tahun terakhir untuk membantu orang miskin dan mengatakan bahwa dia akan mengunjungi tempat itu suatu hari ketika dia ada waktu.

Kami juga memperlihatkan padanya jadwalnya selama 10 tahun yang sebelumnya telah kami susun dalam bentuk buku dan kalender buatan penggemar. Dia membalik-balik setiap halaman secara menyeluruh dan tersentak melihat betapa muda dia saat itu. Dia juga memuji kami atas kreativitas dan perhatian kami.

IU terkagum dengan biskuit teh yang kami berikan kepadanya dan menirukan gerakan 'memalu' dengan tangannya dan menanyakan apakah seperti itu cara membuat biskuit (LOL).

Salah satu anggota kami sedang mempersiapkan topi ember untuk staf kemudian IU mengatakan topi itu terlihat indah tetapi dia tidak bisa memakainya karena rambutnya telah ditata untuk proses syuting. Kami menghiburnya dan berkata tidak apa-apa. Tetapi ketika kami menjelaskan kepadanya bahwa kedua sisi topi dapat digunakan, dia segera meraih topi itu, bersiap untuk mengenakannya, tetapi untung saja kami sempat menghentikannya. Kami memintanya untuk memakainya lain kali saja.

Dia juga memberi tahu kami bahwa cangkir dengan tulisan ‘Hotel Del Luna’ sangat cantik dan dia akan membawanya ke mana-mana untuk dipamerkan kepada sesama anggota staf di lokasi syuting (dengan wajahnya yang sombong namun norak ... seperti ini :)

Kami menyiapkan teh putih Fujian (Hokkien) sebagai hadiah untuk sutradara, tetapi karena beliau belum datang, staf mengatakan nanti mereka akan memberikan hadiah tersebut kepada sutradara atas nama kami.

Q. Apa yang membuat lenganmu terluka? IU: (menarik lengan bajunya) ini adalah bekas luka dari cedera sebelumnya. Aku diinfus karena baru saja terkena flu. 不要 感冒 (jangan terkena flu)!

Q. Apakah kamu juga harus syuting semalaman hari ini? IU: Kami mungkin harus syuting sampai larut malam, tapi kami tidak akan begadang hari ini karena besok pagi ada beberapa adegan yang harus di syuting.

Q. Bagaimana biasanya kamu belajar bahasa Cina? IU: Kebanyakan dengan cara mendengarkan lagu-lagu Cina dan menerjemahkan liriknya ke bahasa Korea. Biasanya, aku mencoba belajar melafalkan kata-kata bahasa Cina berdasarkan romanisasi Korea (pinyin) Uaena: Keterampilan bahasa mandarin-mu luar biasa! IU: Kamu memuji bahasa mandarin-ku???! (KAGET)

Q. Kamu mengatakan ‘新年 快乐’ (selamat tahun baru) awal tahun ini, bagaimana kamu bisa mengetahuinya? IU: Sebelumnya aku mempelajarinya kemudian mengingat-ingatnya.

Q. Apakah kamu biasanya suka mendengarkan lagu-lagu Cina? IU: Saat ini aku sedang menyiapkan album baruku jadi aku tidak begitu mendengarkan lagu lain. Tetapi kamu dapat mengumpulkan beberapa pendapat dari para C-Uaena dan memberi tahuku lagu-lagu Cina yang kalian ingin untuk kunyanyikan~

Q. Apakah kamu akan mengadakan konser di Cina tahun ini? IU: Kami sudah mencoba yang terbaik untuk menghubungi penyelenggara di Beijing dan Shanghai, tetapi tidak semudah kelihatannya. Uaena: Para C-Uaena sudah sangat lama belum berjumpa, jadi kami selalu menghadiri konser domestik dan luar negeri di Seoul, Hong Kong dan Taiwan. IU: Aku tahu banyak C-Uaena datang untuk menonton konser di Seoul tahun lalu. Aku mungkin akan menangis atau merasa emosional/ berkaca-kaca jika kali ini aku mengadakan konser di Cina karena aku sudah sangat lama belum berjumpa kalian.

Meskipun manajer Hanteo mengatakan kepada IU agar bersiap-siap untuk syuting, IU masih meluangkan waktu dan memberi kami tanda tangan dengan sabar, keterampilan pinyinnya (romanisasi bahasa mandarin) sangat bagus (sebagus siswa kelas 4 di sekolah dasar)

IU membiarkan kameraman IU TV dan Hye Seon untuk mengambil foto dirinya bersama dengan fansupport. Dia juga mengatakan kepada kami untuk minum kopi sebelum kemudian pergi untuk bersiap-siap syuting.
