I wanna get around to doing some small story beats for the "Main Six Takes Manhattan" story. It'd be a good chance for me to play around with different art styles too.

I'm really excited about this story too because it'd be splitting everyone up into pairs for their own little arc.

Rarity attends a fashion showcase in upper Manhattan, with April-Jacqueline in tow as her "attendant." The two get swept up in industry drama as they uncover the abuse faced by amateur designer Carol Cho under the American fashion house "Polomare."

Pinkie and Thea head to Harlem for a rent party, hosted by Thea's city friends. Despite Thea's protestations, Pinkie can't help but be the life of the party as its tenants and musicians attempt to raise enough money to fight their landlords and demand housing justice.

Dash and Félicie navigate NYC's transportation system to go to a ball game: the New York Wonderbolts vs. the Washington Senators. While Dash meets her heroes, Félicie can't help but feel homesick and smothered by the big city.

#i have 3 major art projects going on at once tho rn #the au/ko crisis for a writing class/my storyboarding job #so things are slower going #delete later #personal #last story is def the weakest. i definitely wanna set up some solidarity between spitfire and dash (as colonized people)#i need to find a strong political/historical angle for that because each arc's theme is racial solidarity and allyship #rarity and carol represent chinese/korean solidarity (especially given both groups would become victims of imperialism during that era)#and pinkie and thea represent hispanic/black solidarity (with a specific focus on housing and redlining)

Guy who either thinks the Korean web novel originally had an English title because that’s how the manhwa is listed on MAL or that Solo Leveling is a more literal translation than Ore dake Level Up na Ken and would be wrong on either account

#also he’s been doing this anime thing as his job for years and still doesn’t understand capitalization in romaji #the fact that the manhwa is called solo leveling should be the problem #since mal hates listing anything by something other than an english or japanese name #so even though it’s korean it’s given an english name

“Jason should get over being upset about his death” - he has, he wasn’t angry at Bruce or the world because they failed him and he ended up dying, which he made clear plain as day and that’s about the most reasonable a person who went through what he went through could be

anyway I don’t think these people realize how gory being bludgeoned to near death is, and maybe it's because of the limitations of the medium that scene was presented in

#not to mention he had to process the added heartbreak of his birth mother’s rejection/betrayal at the same time #like yeah he was cocky and smiling in the uth movie go Jason go but that’s also the same movie that drastically changed the context #and tone of that scene by erasing Sheila #kelseethe #I remember the first time reading aditf I got flashbacks to a Korean horror movie that still puts me in a weird place #anyway it was about a serial killer who went around killing people by beating their skulls in with a hammer #one of the plots was centered around a victim who didn’t die after the first attack and even managed to escape at first #long story short she was running around trying to get help and the cops were useless + he ended up finding her again and finished the job #sfx brains skull blood and viscera everywhere #and that’s exactly what happened to Jason you just didn’t see any gore because it’s an American comic #nor did you hear his screams and the sounds from metal making contact with bone and guts #and like I said the uth movie was pretty sanitized too same for the titans show which also downplayed his death lol #anyway I think it’s really forgiving of Jason not to blame Bruce or anyone else for the fact that they let the circumstances lead to that #and to instead only criticize how nothing was done in the aftermath #Idk I always found it a bit fascinating how it doesn’t seem to have dawned on most people including his fans #exactly how violent that experience was

It surely speaks a lot about what kind of a country you're coming from when you start your first internship in a foreign country and the boss gives you a chance to get professional experience and helps with learning the language and HR woman offers to give you a ride around company area to search for a new place to live so you won't get scammed

but you're so fucking suspicious and in full disbelief until the very last moment because there is no way strangers are so kind, especially not in the workplace, especially not your bosses.

#my korean friend says they seem to like me a lot or already adopted me #but it's been only a few days and i haven't been able to communicate fluently #and they tell me you're not supposed to know everything it's your first week but i feel like I'm not helping enough #and surely companies in competitive field where it's so hard to find a job can't be that good?#even if they considered hiring me just for a few months what would be the reason for them to take care of me #hmmmmhmmm it's not easy to shake off the very cautious and doubtful survival style of living for sure #dropthediary #me

I’ve been looking through lists of upcoming dramas and saw this — Potato Research Institute.

You can’t find all these in a career guidebook.
