Well! That was a nightmare!
Tumblr media
Here are some of my favourite moments from the new Doctor Who special, Wild Blue Yonder.
SPOILERS AHEAD (AGAIN);
The feeling and vibe of an abandoned alien spaceship at the edge of the universe is pulled off spectacularly. That sense of tension throughout the episode helps as well!
Donna’s trials and tribulations with Mrs. Bean and the school choir
Mavity.
“My arms are too long” is a petrifying fucking sentence
JIMBO !!!! MY SPECIAL LITTLE GUY !!!!
The body horror of the clone Doctor and Donna are absolutely terrifying. Especially the shot with Tennant’s head between his legs (which. sure ok.)
Flux mention! I had no clue whether or not they’d bring up events from the Chibnall era, but I guess that’s the one thing you can mention without it getting iffy. Good on them for that
The golf cart chase. Awful. Horrifying. Why did they look like THAT
The alien clones fool the Doctor into giving him too many thoughts by asking questions
Donna being brilliant and stupid at the same time. Beautiful and relatable contradiction.
If the last episode was a dissection of Donna, this one is more of a dissection of the Doctor. There’s a lot of info that he can’t fully bring himself to talk about, even with arguably his closest companion. Eternally traumatised but unable to say anything about it.
The Doctor using the TARDIS like a skateboard
WILF IS BACK BABY!!!!! AND EVERYONE’S LOST IT!!!! YIPPEEE!!!!
This was a pretty solid episode I feel! Almost felt like a bit of a spiritual successor to Scherzo (the Big Finish audiobook), with just the Doctor and a companion going about and gradually losing it. Fun times! Very atmospheric, very good set design, visual effects that actually made me squirm. Might not be as memorable as the Meep or the Toymaker, but still lingers in my mind. Can’t wait for the finale!

Of` all the, admittedly not many, TMNT crossovers I've read so far, my favorite has been Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
I read both minis and it embraces the full potential of the crossover with all the enthusiasm of a child playing with their action figures.
Turtle Rangers? Of course
Power Mutants? Let's go!
Metalhead's a zord now? Hell Yeah!
Does it always make sense? No, but that is no reason to stop the fun. This comic feels like an unabashed love of both series and I am here for it.

the expanse is about naomi nagata actually. it is her story. a woman who had her agency taken away from her and was scarred so much at the beginning of her life that she run from causes and leadership and shut herself out from the world that slowly over the many decades reinvents herself and finds love and her place and faces her past and her regrets and finds a way to live forward anyway despite everything that happens. an oppressed woman who did care about her people but whose trauma made her shy away from violence having to be in constant battle with herself with how much action she can bear to take for her people and for the system. until enough is enough, and as much as she tries to hide she chooses to walk head in a leadership position and make the difficult choices she run from in her past and find a way to make peace with what acts of violence and to what degree she can handle giving when fighting back yet another totalitarian power

Hello, here we have yet another blog where I ramble about every episode of South Park ever! Yayyyyy... anyways these entries include things that stuck out to me, potential headcanons and more.
Warnings: minor mentions of sex, death
Volcano: ep 3 season 1
●okay but like in every video ever made about stan and his family not once is it mentioned that Jimbo is Stan's uncle. Like how as no one mentioned this before; it was cool when i realised though ig.
●kenny makes so many sex jokes bro, someone please get this kid under control (not really, he's funny asf) he also wants cartman's mum sexually apparently😭
●Kyle likes chocolate milk which is honestly so real bro. Not much else to say about this, just thought it was relatable.
●Cartman was pretending to have served in vietnam like that whole episode, it honestly reminded me of Jack Manifold from the Halloween stream. Neither of them have like any chill dude😭
●Randy is so dramatic when it comes to things like shocking news but then like 10 seconds later just does not care anymore, i love him he's so funny.
●Randy is a geologist!!? Bro is actually employed with the most random asf job. He seems like he would be that one unemployed friend that somehow always has money but no, instead he is a fucking geologist😔
●Cartman has really bad eyebags and I think he's always like that. I bet they're just more noticeable in the lighting from that episode (he had a torch shone into his eyes while telling a scary story on a camping trip).
●i've said it before and i'll say it again, KENNY MAKES SO MANY SEX JOKES😭
●jimbo makes kenny his honorary nephew which i thought was sweet even if it did cause some jealousy with stan.
●Randy kills the entire population of Denver by directing the lava from an erupted volcano into the city. denver is no longer real ig😭
●KENNY DIED TWICE?? BRO WENT THROUGH IT THIS EPISODE

Why the fuck does everyone ignore Jimbo and Ronaldo's existences they're seriously underrated
Ronaldo Cuisine and Jimbo Mopson my beloveds
Anyway I believe that Ronaldo is Jimbo's uncle and neither of them know it
And uhh I also believe that Jimbo sees Peter as a father figure but the feeling is not reciprocated
Burn me at the stake I don't give a fuck lemme just have my silly headcanons about these characters
-hooker foxy anon
(P.S. Jimbo's death in the springlock suit in a few of the dsaf 2 endings broke me and I'm not afraid to admit it I'm so fucking stupid)

4:24 PM EDT July 28, 2024:
Led Zeppelin - "Good Times Bad Times" From the album Led Zeppelin (January 12, 1969)
Last song scrobbled from iTunes at Last.fm
Time is a motherfucker, and I don't think any lyrical line in rock 'n' roll sums that up quite like the opener to this song: "In the days of my youth." And funny, the effect only becomes more pronounced every goddamned time I listen.
Christ.
The head-splitting irony of course is that Robert Plant was all of 20 years old when he stepped up to the mike at Olympic Studios that day in 1968. He might have had an intimation of exactly what vistas had opened for him when Jimbo Page selected him from the Band of Joy, and you couldn't really fault him if he had already developed a certain arrogance that reinterpreted events as destiny, but still. It's a hell of a thing when a chamac of a mere two decades pretends at maturity.
It's tragic and I am not mocking his misfortune, but the loss of his beloved son in 1977 shows exactly the kind of life-thing that the young man recording LZI had absolutely no inkling of.
And I do bet he'd tell you that himself.
Beyond that, and because of it, in this case no doubt, there is a certain aura that certain opening songs from certain debut albums achieve. Sometimes the lesson is 'nothing's ever gonna be the same,' like maybe you get with "Needles in the Camel's Eye," or "1969," or "Just Like Honey." Other times it's, 'you better up your game,' and I definitely get that kind of vibe from "NSU," and from "10538 Overture."
But the lesson and thew aura with "Good Times Bad Times" is a little more subtle. It dips into experience, and legacy, and the passage of years, things that even the demi-gods in Led Zeppelin may not it turns out have any control over. One day, I'll come back to this when Plant is gone, and the irony of an artist in his youth feigning age will then seem even more ridiculous than it does to me now. Of course, one day, perhaps only a very short time after our aged Percy, I--the one currently bitching about time's effect on young men, and old--will be gone, too.
And what does *that* say about this song, as it remains?
