Guys I feel like we don't talk enough about how Crowley and Aziraphale trying to do an itty bitty 1/2 miracle together led to a stronger miracle than any of them except I think Gabriel could do on their own and... yeah imagine them actively working together to do a full-blown miracle??
#Good omens#good omens 2#at first I thought it was just cuz Gabriel inadvertently lent his miracle-ing power to it#but then they say it and hmm#I hope its explored in season threeeeeee#crowley#aziraphale#jim the book assistant#gabriel#gabriel the archangel#good omens 2 spoilers#go2 spoilers#good omens spoilers#go2#good omens season 2

ldpdl, ethnicity, and the false monolith of blackness
there's this false tendency to think amc louis being made black is pandering, or a means of removing louis from his oh-so-detailed /sarcasm/ background in the books. i also find that people tend to not even understand what show louis's ethnic background is, despite rolin jones the showrunner and even the fictional louis both coalescing around this multigenerational explanation of the gens de couleur in new orleans, and how jim crow disempowered them.
I came around to his ethnicity a sort of interesting way which is through Lestat. [ … ] I was like lets give him a legitimate a third attempt at figuring how to be with somebody for the rest of his life and how to not repeat your mistakes. [ … ] I started from there so it had to be someone with some money cause he had to be with his own folks and I thought he wanted someone who could fight back and who could be a challenge and would force him to restrain himself. And nobody at AMC was interested in 7 seasons of the regretful plantation owner, so we made Louis come from a lineage that did have a plantation and did own slaves.
rolin jones in the s1 post-finale episode of the podcast names how he came to this understanding of louis's character. lestat, after failing to make a bride of his mother, and a concubine of nicki, was seeking for someone of a similar background, or the most approximate equivalent. he would not have been interested in louis if louis was an anglophone baptist black man descended from upper-south arrivals into new orleans, nor would he have been interested in louis if louis was a poor black creole honestly s1 does not give a good reading of claudia's ethnic bg in new orleans, but since she cannot understand french, we can presume shes either a poor creole removed from her cultural background with her vampiric adoption narrative in mind, or was also of an anglophone baptist black background like claudia was. louis coming from this fallen sort of gentry, the free gens de couleur, similar to that of the tvl lestat who came from this barren aristocracy dating back to the crusades, was key to lestat's long-term goals with louis.
Capital accrued from plantations of sugar and the blood of men who looked like my great grandfather but did not have his standing. But then decades of Jim Crow and the electrified light of a new century had vanquished any idea of a free man of color. - AMC IWTV 1x01
louis was of the first generations of the gens de couleur to be born, raised into, and face the institutional and personal ramifications of being viewed as black in america. this fuels much of the character's rage as he moves through storyville, trying to continue the similar modality of exploitation to the contrary of pretty baby with brooke shields, majority of the brothel circuit was statistically black girls + women being sexually pawned off to white men but ultimately failing to do so bc of the anglophone white american class that now rules over him. [tom anderson, alderman fenwick, finn o’shea starting out as louis’s subordinate then ending w/ him entering whiteness by having a sporting house throwing torches at louis’s brothel in s1e3]
By 1850, the free population of color, beset by the hostility of white supremacy, was economically diminished and residentially segregated. The Americanization of Louisiana, and in particular New Orleans, was completed before the state became the sixth to secede from the Union in 1861 in the struggle over the perpetuation of slavery. [link] The Democratic redeemers who came to power in 1877 lost no time in redefining the Negro's "place" in Louisiana life. They immediately restored the color line in the New Orleans public schools and offered silent support to de facto segregation practices in places of public accommodation. With the assistance of two landmark decisions by the United States Supreme Court, the redeemers soon dismantled the egalitarian legal apparatus put together piece by piece under the Radicals. Finally in 1890 they began to write their "final solution" into Louisiana law with a series of "separate but equal" statutes. Soon New Orleans Negroes were again segregated in virtually every public pursuit. [link]

FROM PUBLIC CITIZEN
On Friday night, 50 United States senators — all of them Republicans — voted to put our nation’s security in the hands of a man who is laughably unqualified.
Except it could not be less funny.
With a tie-breaking vote from Vice President JD Vance, Pete Hegseth will now be Secretary of Defense.
Pete Hegseth isn’t qualified to be shift leader at a Dairy Queen (nothing against Dairy Queen). Putting him in charge of the entire United States military is a perversion — and every one of the 50 senators who voted for him knows it.
So why did they do it?
Because they were afraid that if they did the right thing and rejected Hegseth, Donald Trump would back someone else in their next election, and assistant president Elon Musk would spend millions to defeat them.
That’s why Trump defended his nominee so aggressively once news reports indicated how horrible Hegseth’s record is. It was a test. “Look how much they fear me.” “Look how willing they are to prostrate themselves at my feet.” “Look what I’ve turned them into.”
It’s really quite pathetic how craven and insecure they are.
Especially considering that even if they did lose their seats, ex-senators do pretty well. There are cushy positions on corporate boards or as high-paid lobbyists. There are deals to be had for books, podcasts, and speaking gigs. There are roles as pundits and hosts on Fox “News.” There are shady right-wing nonprofits and “think tanks” to run. There are car dealerships and cryptocurrencies to profit from. And on and on and on.
But no, these 50 senators were so afraid of Trump and so addicted to the illusion of political power (we say “illusion” because in reality they have forsaken any actual power in abject fealty to Trump) that they were willing to put Hegseth in charge of the $900 billion Pentagon, its 3 million employees, and all its warfighting capacity.
This is a man who has shown himself unable to run a small nonprofit. A man about whom there are credible reports of excessive drinking and out-of-control behavior. And a man against whom there are multiple allegations of sexual assault and domestic violence.
This is also a man who refused in his confirmation hearing to renounce the use of torture. A man who at his hearing was unaware of a major international alliance. And a man who has argued that women should not serve in combat roles.
Let’s not forget that for generations, it is Republicans who have held themselves out as the party that supports the military and is “strong on defense.”
In case you think your senator would never jeopardize America’s national security, here are the 50 Republican senators who just sold out our troops, our veterans, and our country:
Jim Banks, Indiana John Barrasso, Wyoming Marsha Blackburn, Tennessee John Boozman, Arkansas Katie Britt, Alabama Ted Budd, North Carolina Shelley Capito, West Virginia Bill Cassidy, Louisiana John Cornyn, Texas Tom Cotton, Arkansas Kevin Cramer, North Dakota Michael Crapo, Idaho Ted Cruz, Texas John Curtis, Utah Steve Daines, Montana Joni Ernst, Iowa Deb Fischer, Nebraska Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Charles Grassley, Iowa Bill Hagerty, Tennessee Joshua Hawley, Missouri John Hoeven, North Dakota Jon Husted, Ohio Cindy Hyde-Smith, Mississippi Ron Johnson, Wisconsin Jim Justice, West Virginia John Kennedy, Louisiana James Lankford, Oklahoma Mike Lee, Utah Cynthia Lummis, Wyoming Roger Marshall, Kansas Dave McCormick, Pennsylvania Ashley Moody, Florida Jerry Moran, Kansas Bernie Moreno, Ohio Markwayne Mullin, Oklahoma Rand Paul, Kentucky Pete Ricketts, Nebraska James Risch, Idaho Mike Rounds, South Dakota Eric Schmitt, Missouri Rick Scott, Florida Tim Scott, South Carolina Tim Sheehy, Montana Dan Sullivan, Alaska John Thune, South Dakota Thom Tillis, North Carolina Tommy Tuberville, Alabama Roger Wicker, Mississippi Todd Young, Indiana
(Here are the three Republican senators who did not vote for the charlatan: Susan Collins, Maine; Mitch McConnell, Kentucky; Lisa Murkowski, Alaska.)
If you are feeling angry and/or fearful about what it will mean to have someone as devastatingly unqualified and dangerous as Pete Hegseth running the Department of Defense, join Public Citizen in a message to the 50 senators who just voted for exactly that.
Those who serve in uniform, our nation’s veterans, the hundreds of thousands of civilians who work in the military, and — most crucially of all — every single American deserve better (far better) than Pete Hegseth. You have put us all in harm’s way for no reason other than your own cowardice in the face of Donald Trump. Shame on you.
Click to add your name now.
Thanks for taking action.
For progress,
- Robert Weissman & Lisa Gilbert, Co-Presidents of Public Citizen

Acting Supreme Archangel Crowley
Alright, yes, I do think Crowley is the Acting Supreme Archangel during S2. I've generally hinted as such in past posts and with this small GIF set: There is always a Supreme Archangel....
I have long speculated Crowley's longer sideburns mark rank in the bookshop and that character behavior implies he is at least in charge up until he delegates responsibility over to Aziraphale when Crowley leaves to escort Maggie and Nina out in episode 6.
Even though I generally say and believe his red streak is a result of a possible Big Miracle involving the matchbox and the Book of Life, it can also be another mark of this rank in the present day storyline.
Many times, I have referenced the particular shot to Crowley when Gabriel proclaims himself the only First-Order Archangel in the Universe (with a capital "U" in the subtitles).
I have finally convinced myself through more dialogue factors that yes, Crowley is in that position. He was a First-Order Archangel at some point, and circumstances being what they are in S2, he becomes the Acting Supreme Archangel.
Here is how it theoretically goes...
After Crowley has encountered Gabriel for the first time in the story, he and Aziraphale go to a private room. Crowley himself states to Aziraphale, "Angel, this is the Supreme Archangel of all Heaven, your former boss, who tried very hard to cast you into hellfire and destroy you. He is not our friend."
So, at this point in the story, Gabriel still holds that title or Crowley at least thinks he does. The trial we see later will show that Michael intended to have Gabriel removed from office with the Metatron deciding on a memory wipe. Gabriel himself had other ideas and managed to escape.
We are told Heaven does not have a Supreme Archangel by Uriel later in S2E1. But then, no, wait, Michael declares with confidence that there is always a Supreme Archangel.
While these two disagree on matters, the Good Omens story in general is mindful of word usage and gives words power. As such, the power in the story itself decides that the Acting Supreme Archangel is Crowley on Earth. Michael and Uriel might have forced it to happen just with their own words between each other without realizing that's what they were doing. And if it takes more than their words, we do have an extensive touching sequence involving a matchbox after Crowley has touched the heavens with his own red lightning. The matchbox itself is declared as an earthly object, giving the name of the story's hidden Earthly Objects game.
How can we tell Crowley is the Acting Supreme Archangel now?
Beelzebub tells Crowley the Archangel Gabriel has vanished. Notably, Beelzebub does not say the Supreme Archangel Gabriel has vanished.
Hence forth, Gabriel might be referred to as Jim, James, Gabriel, an assistant, an assistant bookseller, an angel, or an archangel but references to him as the Supreme Archangel are in the past or, in the case of Aziraphale relaying his conversation with the Metatron in S2E6, a rank that Gabriel himself no longer holds because it hadn't worked out.
Crowley himself addresses Gabriel as Archangel Gabriel and not Supreme Archangel Gabriel in S2E5.
...
A metaphorical torch is passed from Gabriel to Crowley during the miracle to hide Gabriel, symbolized by the Overhead Light shaped like a flame held by an angel. I've remarked on this Overhead Light a few times.
Here it is by Gabriel:
Then here it is ensured to be at least partly shown during the miracle itself:
It is shown more fully when Crowley himself goes up to touch the fabric of reality, or whatever that is up there. Crowley's Overhead Lights tend to go above and to the left of his left ear (or involve some reflection manipulation). His ear ends up going over this special torch instead.
During this scene, Crowley's sideburns are at their longest length for the episode. His red hair is charged up with more red from recalling the lightning power. As red as his hair is, his more saturated red streak is visible.
...
Shax and Crowley drop us a few hints about Crowley being a former archangel but not necessarily being the current Acting Supreme Archangel.
Shax says a miracle happened "last night" in S2E2, referencing SE2E1. She says it was a miracle that only the mightiest of archangels could have performed. When Crowley asks, "How'd you know I didn't do it?" she doesn't deny his ability or show any suspicion that he did.
In S2E3, Crowley teases her as he says, "Maybe you'll spot on archangel." The camera work shifts focus to Gabriel, but given how many other clues are given about Crowley, this one ends up looking like another possible clue.
She later calls Crowley an "arch traitor" instead of just a traitor, as Beelzebub does.
...
Another clue that Crowley is the Acting Supreme Archangel is his general visit to Heaven.
Crowley disguises himself as an angel, but his disguise includes sunglasses that actually make his snake eyes more obvious. He chooses a gray that matches what other archangels use. That's him "acting" out the role as the Acting Supreme Archangel. His red streak is maintained and visible with his disguise as well.
Michael and Uriel leave him unchallenged when he passes by them, whether they recognize him or not. He shows Muriel he can access clearance beyond what Muriel can do with the reasoning he hasn't always been a demon, and they (presumably Heaven in general) never change their passwords. When Saraqael eventually confronts both Crowley and Muriel, Muriel is not punished, and Saraqael even goes so far as to say, "Show him the trial."
When the alarms go off, Saraqael answers Crowley's question about what just happened and follows his orders on the three of them getting back to Earth.
Then Michael and Uriel even go with the group in the elevator.
We don't see how that transpired, just that it did. I think it's plausible they couldn't actually leave or take the elevator without Crowley. Admittedly, that could be related to Crowley tricking the threshold on his way in, instead of the rank matter.
Now, aside from perhaps Saraqael, the angels aren't shown to consciously know that Crowley's rank is Acting Supreme Archangel. They mainly just act like it by letting him do what he wants, lead them to the bookshop, and generally take charge of the situation after they and other demons have arrived in the bookshop.
I do think it's significant that the story does guide the clue based on the words "First-Order Archangel" instead of "Supreme Archangel", for that one particular shot over to Crowley during Gabriel's dialogue.
I've long remarked that I think it's important that Crowley wanted to be first when using the Heaven elevator. I finally have an answer for why I think that is though I'm not really satisfied with the answer I've come up with. I might go over said answer in another post at another time.
There is another metaphorical torch passed from Crowley to Aziraphale at the end of episode 6 due to the flames with the coffee on the coffee shop where Crowley has positioned himself with his car. The flames are to Crowley's visual right. The lady with the black hat assists with this pass given that she is the "dash of nutmeg" in this scene.
The right side is often associated with angels, and Aziraphale receives a special right-side Overhead Light for his Ground Zero cut.
...
That's it for this particular post. There is a little something more I hope to post soon and wanted to make this post as a reference point.

The Assistant Book Seller
Edit 1 Dec 2023 - added missing information on the "ribbon pattern."
Edit: 3 Dec 2023 - correct information about middle pattern from creator
GABRIEL: Greetings! I'm Jim! It's short for James, but I don't need to keep telling everyone that. I'm an assistant book seller.
I'm sorry. Before I do anything else, I need to apologize for something I need to write further in. I didn't plan to write it, I just kind of bumped into it and, well, I can't ignore it. So...sorry. It's said. Forgive me for what needs to be done.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8fc26375c38400702c0701adcdaea958/cc929e8d9dfd6ec8-04/s540x810/fd35e6522d20700c20913daa6e7f7a7289a84e84.jpg)
Although he arrived with nothing but a cardboard box and Rodney the Stunt Fly, Aziraphale made sure Jim was clothed in appropriate raiment while under his protection. We'll forgive him that he took a step back about, oh, fifty years or so to the 1970's, as Jim's overall look is a nod to the famous old sitcom "Open All Hours." So if he looks a little bit out of place, or, a little bit familiar, even, that's why.
While we are used to seeing angels in overcoats, it's Jim's vest that is the particular feature here. But I will take a moment to comment on the overcoat - not just the colour but its lapels. Aziraphale has obviously given him a colour with an earthly connection and one that indicate that he has bought Jim under his protection, but the lapels look quite neutral, with one up and one down. (Muriel is the same in their Inspector uniform, btw) This is the first indication they are between two things at the moment.
Onto the vest.
There is so, so much work and thought put into this vest! It was a one-off commission for the show, and the creator, Sandy Higgins, has said she is not allowed to give away the final design pattern. I have tried to contact her, and I'm waiting for a reply, so in the mean time I thought I would ask my keen knitter of a sister-in-law about one of the patterns I'm not sure about. "Well, that's Fair Isle knitting," she said, but she knew nothing about the individual line pattern I was interested in. Hmm, I kind of know that already, its in the notes that are guiding me for this meta, but hey, why not do a broader search and see what comes up?
So once I got back home I did. "Fair Isle knitting patterns" hmm...Wikipedia page for starters...what on *earth* is that at the bottom of the page...? YOU ARE. FRIKKING. KIDDING ME!!!!!!!
"See also: Gumbys"
oh ffs
I am so sorry that needs must make me mention Monty Python yet again, but here we are. And we must mention them, because this link is just too...unbelievably, deliciously good.
If you aren't familiar with the Monty Python catalogue, and don't recognize the mention of Gumbys, they were a set of characters that dressed and spoke in a certain way but the main points to take away were they wore woolen vests in the Fair Isle knitted style and their catch-phrase was - wait for it - "My brain hurts!"
I think we've heard that somewhere before?
CROWLEY: When you first arrived, you said you were here because they were planning to do 'Something Terrible' to you. So you remembered it then. Remember it now. GABRIEL: It hurts to remember. My head isn't built for that.
Right. Now we've got that out of the way...back to the serious stuff.
The colours used in the vest are not your typical angel colours. There is a base of angelic off-white and there are some bits of purple for his royalty around the shoulder area - sometimes you need to look carefully for it. Otherwise it is dominated by vintage shades of red and green. Well. Who's an agent of change driven by love, then?
The horizontal stripe pattern is partly to remind us of the classic biblical robes with stripes that ran along them, much like the style of Crowley's black and red robe in the Job minisode, but is also part of the traditional Fair Isles pattern work. And each row only has two colours, but up around the shoulder area we do see purple start to sneak in as a third colour.
On to the incorporated symbols! I'm going to go from bottom to top.
On the lowest two we feature Crowley and Aziraphale. We have Crowley's demon satyr tail from the Good Omens logo on the lowest stripe - the double-headed arrow.
The next stripe is Aziraphale, with a variation of the classic OXO pattern ("hugs and kisses.") The X is meant to represent his angel wings, and the O is modified to mimic the "o" with a halo in the Good Omens logo. I've highlighted all three in the image on the right.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e1cf594f2693e588dafe9450705942ae/cc929e8d9dfd6ec8-14/s540x810/77929e19f89606acf66903fdddb7f4dbbc76d3e5.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6f57a05680d7f4dc5b87118dd1c1cc21/cc929e8d9dfd6ec8-15/s400x600/d5b904eee1fef1fe0257c81bb2c796b7c75a9dbf.jpg)
The third row up is a Sumerian Star pattern that represents one of the flowers associated with Gabriel, the lily. They are supposed to represent the purity of Mary, mother of Jesus, as he had one in his hand when he visited her during the Annunciation.
The row above that is what I believe to be a Byzantium pattern, and is included to show "an Angel's ability to be timeless."
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/68b96808cc603a17458f4b7fa617873d/cc929e8d9dfd6ec8-3b/s540x810/540d80370d0acd63368ef557a0add55f04b7da5d.jpg)
The next three rows are still under a bit of a question mark as I write this. I plan to come back and edit it in if I find the answer.
The bottom of the three is the Duke of Buccleuch pattern, "to celebrate the long and necessary contribution that the cottage industry of hand knitted items."
The middle one - ? (perhaps you, the reader, know? It looks like a spiralling ribbon if I stand back, but that isn't sparking any connections, either.)
Edit: @noneorother tells me in a reblog (below) that this pattern represents the shoelace from the magic incantation Aziraphale uses "Banana Fish Gorilla Shoelace." So it is ribbon-like! This then points to the Second Coming, as it the shoelace references the end of the book, and the last paragraph of the book references Yeats poem "The Second Coming" as well as the novel 1984. To me it is then also telling us there is a cycle occurring, or a cycle that needs to be renewed. This fits in with some other clues other meta-writers have been picking up.
Edit 2: Turns out none of that was correct - I heard back from the creator herself and it's actually the double-ended satyr tail pattern again! It just seems to make a bit of an illusion of a ribbon or shoelace.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f8218df4de5db4de58fe6e99e4b062bb/cc929e8d9dfd6ec8-74/s540x810/629ebf6e91415f7e7fcb97be810fe50194d4ef56.jpg)
The pattern below is a modified OXO pattern.
The top one looks like two rams horns facing each other. A hollowed out rams horn can be used as a trumpet, and is known as a shofar in Jewish religion. Gabriel was traditionally known to carry a trumpet.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/d706f20bbf3971c3cf64bc7bd52c4eaa/cc929e8d9dfd6ec8-68/s540x810/6c85fb076bff6b16087a359642ebdaec7d37d3c8.jpg)

The ancient meander pattern would be recognized by most people, included as another classic timeless pattern found all over the world. For some it symbolizes eternity and endless flow.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ffc9cc63f1a897431523c487905ee3eb/cc929e8d9dfd6ec8-6d/s540x810/bed7b73cefea821c637402f01838687c9e5d72e0.jpg)
The wheels here appear to be Michael's ophanim wheels, that would have eyes around the rims.

The hourglass is to remind us that time is running out. Memento mori - "Remember that you die." It is a major theme in both series.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/315df290b2f25f46364b97ceba670bdf/cc929e8d9dfd6ec8-61/s540x810/c4bb813c5cf2afe16e8fb70251a0c891535fc85b.jpg)
Right up high, just before we lose the rest of the vest inside the overcoat, we get a glimpse of a large diamond-shaped icon. I wonder if this is another stylized set of angel wings, like we saw in the Job minisode on Aziraphale's golden collar.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/84bc9bff2a44d9420d57054eea71a84f/cc929e8d9dfd6ec8-b4/s540x810/3ec2094df6cd9bdba9e8c496c8d66d77fd765249.jpg)
To finish off the outfit, he is wearing dark gray trousers with sneakers! I'm sure that's so he could keep sneaking up on Aziraphale in the shop, haha. His shirt seems a little too large for him and the tie is knotted too high and is not settled along his centerline. It's all at odds with his previous neat and sharp appearance as Supreme Archangel Gabriel.
I'd like to say a big thank you to @aduckwithears for helping me with information on the vest and finding the creator's other social media sites. You can see their two posts about it here and here.

Love Languages TOS HCs: Kirk, Spock, McCoy
Prompts: How do the TOS Kirk, Spock, and McCoy show their love and what are some things they love to do with their partner.
James T. Kirk
Words of Affirmation
He loves to give pep talks, and enjoys receiving them when he needs them.
When you call him "Captain or Sir" in the gentlest tones he practically melts.
If you run your fingers through his hair and call him a "Good Boy or Good Captain.", he feels completely renewed and invigorated.
He'll call you all sorts of cute pet names; "Sunshine, Honey-Bun, Sweetie."
But he needs you when he calls you; "My Sunshine, My Star, My Ensign."
He'll lay in your lap while you stroke his hair and remind him of how great of a leader he is, and how much you love him.
"Ensign, I need you. I need my sunshine."
Physical Touch
He feels so lonely when he can't hold your hand.
While on the bridge he gives you firm pats on the back, ruffles your hair, kisses your hand, or even sneaky hugs from behind.
If you initiate the physical touch that is even better, he can practically feel the love flowing from your fingers.
During your off-hours, he will constantly be looking for cuddles and snuggles.
He even whines and groans if he has to get up or if you have to get up. He's so cute when he's pouty.
He loves to lay in your lap and have you run your fingers through his hair while you read to him.
Jim: "I feel so lost without you, take me in your arms, and promise to never let go."
Ensign (L/N): "Jim, we're working and you're standing five feet away from me."
Jim: "That's too far!"
Quality Time
He wants to spend as much time with you as possible, but he wants to make it meaningful.
The two of you read to each other, as well as play games, dance, and do a variety of other things.
He likes to have "in-quarters" dates because he feels like he can be more of himself around you.
He loves to have movie dates where you take turns picking movies and making snacks.
He will totally do your nails and braid your hair.
You two will most definitely hold the best slumber parties in Star Fleet history.
"I think this shade suits you better don't you think? After this, we can watch that new rom-com that just came out on Vulcan."
S'Chn T'Gai Spock
Acts of Service
In Vulcan Culture what you do for each other is more than what you say.
While he loves to help you and ensure you're well taken care of, when you do the same for him he knows that you care.
If you notice that he may be overwhelmed and step in to assist him you can practically hear his heart pounding.
He always appreciates it if you help him with the task and work on it together.
If you forgot to finish a report don't worry he'll help you finish.
If he is struggling on the bridge, you're there to take orders and provide additional aid!
Spock: "Thank you for your help, Ensign. I appreciate the assistance."
McCoy: "Get a room!"
Quality Time
He loves it when you spend time together, even if it's some mindless task or chore.
He does try to find more interesting ways of spending time together.
He may teach you things about his culture; how to read, write, and speak Vulcan, how to play the Vulcan Harp, and how to cook Vulcan meals.
He may ask you to show him things you enjoy; your favorite books, your favorite meals, your favorite activities, etc.
He may even propose trying new things together; such as taking a class or workshop.
Anything and everything he can do with you is always greatly appreciated by him.
"If you are interested in further study might I recommend this. I think you may enjoy it."
Physical Touch
He is so touch-starved, and all he wants to do is hold hands.
When you first hold hands it was a bit of a shock to feel your minds link.
Soon the two of you could barely keep your hands off of each other.
He's always reaching out for an ozh'esta (* finger embrace). (Just like his father. *cough**cough*)
When the two of you are alone in your quarters he enjoys sitting across from you, pressing his forehead against yours and holding your hands.
He feels so comforted by your touch. You ease his mind bringing him so much warmth and comfort.
" When I am with you, it is as if I have found another part of myself I did not know I was missing."
Leonard McCoy
Quality Time
McCoy values time with you above all else.
He prefers to spend his off hours wrapped up in a large fluffy blanket cuddled with you.
He does like to do fun things like take you dancing or going for moonlit shore walks.
But because he spends most of his time in sickbay he prefers to sit and not move as much as possible.
He feels bad that he can't do what a younger partner might.
But you always reassure him by greeting him in your pajamas and a fuzzy robe.
Ensign L/N: *wearing an old fuzzy bathrobe and slippers* "You want to stay in tonight? I found an old western movie and picked up some ice cream from the commissary."
McCoy: *trying not to cry* "That's the best idea I've heard all day. I love you so much damn it."
Acts of Service
He hates to see you get hurt but always loves it when you visit him.
When you get sick or hurt he stops everything he's doing to help you.
When he gets sick or hurt and you stop everything you're doing to help him, he's a mess.
He kind of likes it when you're bossy with him, making sure he's drinking water and eating.
You always make sure he's well looked after and you always visit him regularly.
A doctor's favorite patient may be one he doesn't see but he'd prefer if you stop by now and again.
"Stop your belly-achin' and relax. I'll check on you again soon. You're lucky I love you so much."
Words of Affirmation
He doesn't show it often but he can get insecure about your relationship.
He doesn't feel like he's up to the task like he used to be when it comes to romance.
You'll sometimes see him looking in the mirror longer or running his hands over his stomach.
But when you compliment him or tell him how much you love him all of his worries disappear.
He gets all grumpy at first until you coax out the truth.
He will let you know what is bothering him and you'll make sure to help him through it one step at a time.
"Some days I don't even know why you'd want to spend time with an old man like me. But I always appreciate that you do."

Acrostic ✨Clues ✨
So a neat little thing Good Omens did for the promo for s2 was create some character playlist.
Very quickly though it was discovered that each and every one of them contained a hidden clue word. By taking the first letter of the first word of the song a word related to the character would emerge. For the two examples below the words were “Ineffable” and “Tempting”.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b2f8c5917ba75498e171423f06227b71/8264e9edd54c12d2-20/s540x810/0fa0bfa76425c3b0c7b3a7b3321a8d3ae865520d.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/cdea8b74928f468210e027dcd2d74ba1/8264e9edd54c12d2-cd/s540x810/db86c79f37016aa4f0446ef4310f8a96669d987a.jpg)
Now this technique is called Acrostic,
Acrostic - a composition usually in verse in which sets of letters (such as the initial or final letters of the lines) taken in order form a word or phrase or a regular sequence of letters of the alphabet
it’s a technique mostly seen in poems to contain hidden words, often the authors name.
but I wouldn’t be bringing this back up if it wasn’t for nothing and that’s because we see this technique in the show as well.
When Jim is really embodying his role as Assistant Bookseller he takes it upon himself to reorganize the books by the first letter of the first word of the first sentence - sounds familiar.
Except he’s doing alphabetically not to contain a hidden word you say?
Well hold on to that real quick while I point out another clue Jimbriel says,
“There will come a tempest, and darkness, and great storms. And the dead will leave their graves and walk the earth once more. And there will be great lamentations."
Well now that I brought that quote back to your attention we are just going to focus on one particular word, Lamentations.
because what if I told you that the first four poems in the Book of Lamentations are written in an acrostic style.
Not just any style either but where each poetic verse begins with a letter of the Hebrew Alphabet.
Now the Book of Lamentations is separated into five poems from different pov’s about the destruction of Jerusalem in 587 B.C. by the Babylonians.
The organization and rigid structure to the first four poems was really meant to contrast from the grief and disorder the people were going through. Structure that the last poem loses. Hm Interesting.
(we are not going to be looking into what this book is about I am just pointing out structure similarities here)
Expect this not the only way this structure can be used.
Acrostic structure’s are also often used as a mnemonic device. This is a learning technique that helps with memory retrieval or retention by associating things with something easier to remember, like say trigger words.
So then is it really a surprise that Jim, our Amnesiac Archangel, keeps using this structure subconsciously?
#god i really hope i am using this right#most of this is already known I just (personally) discovered a new word and got excited#acrostic#good omens#good omens 2#aziraphale#crowley#archangel fucking gabriel#archangel gabriel#good omens gabriel#jimbriel#good omens playlist#good omens clues#good omens meta#good omens speculation#good omens analysis#book of lamentations

Cops and Robbers
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6064feaf888a8621527642f521e6713e/a312adfd97052dac-ad/s400x600/d5d874deec0903abb204149e8e177ff6c6d489ac.jpg)
A/N: This is entirely unlike anything I've written before. This is written for @the-slumberparty's Sundae Bar. I'm using the following prompts:
🍧Black Cherry: enemies to lovers – a dark flavour has a sweet tang. So your characters go from one extreme to the other, hate to love. 🍧Rocky Road: rags to riches – it's been a long road. Cinderella, a lottery winner, a sudden inheritance. You decide how your character gets their windfall. 🍧French Vanilla: stranded/locked in - vanilla, but make it fancy. Forced proximity to the max. Whether your characters have to work together to escape or survive, or just need to wait out the night, they’re stuck together. 🥄Toasted Almonds: heartbreak – your character is going through a heartbreak
Word Count: ~3k (I think this is the longest one-shot I've ever written!)
A/N2: Character is female. No physical descriptors used.
Warnings: Corruption, Implied murder, Mild violence, Talk of sex trafficking, Theft. Please let me know if I missed any!
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/fb9d0fe7dd4ec90630436b77274e21ac/a312adfd97052dac-e9/s400x600/d6843a718d8462815c7c59d33fb08fb48e09cf18.jpg)
You know you shouldn't be here. You're a wanted woman in this county. Wanted by law enforcement and the people who buy law enforcement. It's dangerous to be here. But you can't bring yourself to stay away. Your great-aunt Mabel was the only person who ever loved and supported you. Attending her funeral is the least you can do for her. Even if you're watching from afar, sticking to the tree line, well away from the grave-site.
Everything was paid for by you. Again, it was the least you could do. But you couldn't trust the funeral home to not let the authorities know it was you. If you're lucky, they'll think you gave them the money and ran. But luck is not reliable so you're staying amongst the trees, finally letting yourself cry at the loss.
That's how you missed the Sheriff sneaking up on you. That and his surprisingly light steps. For a man his size, he sure as hell knew how to watch his steps.
He places a hand on your shoulder, startling you. “Ma'am, I'm gonna need you to come with me.”
“Is this official or off the books?” If he was doing this for the criminals he'd been bought by, you'd risk running off or getting shot. But official capacity work meant some legal protections.
“I'm arrestin' you under suspicion of robbery at the Governor's Mansion.” His hand squeezes your shoulder, a warning not to run. His tone was level, professional even. You nod your head and let him cuff you before getting to his car.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/5eca539c381517bd620bcc2482d8cb51/a312adfd97052dac-70/s400x600/9da6caa74ebe39fe33e23674b3d6cbb1ba555634.jpg)
Inside the police station Lee walks you to a holding cell. Your existence has been a thorn in his side for years and he'd love nothing more than to lock you in jail and throw away the key. But you're also good press, which the local police need. That means he has to make sure you're not too roughed up. So if he has to play the gentleman for a while, he will.
At least when you were just stealing from Dunlap's crew he could tell them to fuck off. He's done a lot of bad things for them but hunting down someone who, in the public eye, had done nothing else wrong? It would look too suspicious, no matter how much they paid him.
Then you hit the Governor's place. Must've been one hell of a payday given the quality loot you picked up. That got him heat not just from Dunlap but from the damn Governor as well. You caused a lot of late nights, paperwork and black eyes.
He orders the closest deputy to get you processed then put you in the updated interrogation room. It had all the latest recording gadgetry and whatnot so it would reduce the likelihood of your testimony being dismissed because of some clerical error.
Getting to his desk he sits down and dials the Governor. He's not surprised when he gets the assistant instead. “Do me a favor, Darlin' and let Ol' Jim there know we got the thief. Just gotta get her processed and then I'll be gettin' a confession.”
When he finishes with that he dials up Dunlap. “I got the thief, but you an' yours gotta keep away until she's in lock up. Anything goes wrong with this and you're out a sheriff. Be patient and you'll get her but I gotta do a bunch o' shit by the book right now.” Lee hangs up before Dunlap can respond.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/5eca539c381517bd620bcc2482d8cb51/a312adfd97052dac-70/s400x600/9da6caa74ebe39fe33e23674b3d6cbb1ba555634.jpg)
You're sitting in the cold, sterile interrogation room, handcuffed to the table. You're barely able to recognize yourself in the two-way mirror because of how puffy your eyes got from crying. The deputy assigned to process you tried to comfort you, thinking you were crying out of fear. You didn't bother to correct him. You're glad Aunt Mabel never saw you in custody.
The door opens and Bodecker walks in with a small stack of files. He sits across from you, leaning back, eye you up. You glance back at the door and he tells you, “ain't no use lookin' for a way out, darlin'. That door is locked from the outside. Only one of my men can let you outta here.” You nod your understanding.
“So, you gonna make this easy for me and go ahead and confess to the robbery of Governor James Williams?” You remain silent, fidgeting with your cuffs. “Figured as much,” he gripes as he opens one of the files. “We got your fingerprints on the doorknob. We got testimony that you were in the area. And you're the only one with the skills to break into that safe.”
“I don't know what you're talking about, Sheriff,” you reply. “What are these skills you think I have and what makes you think I have them?”
He gives you a glare, “we got reliable witnesses that say you're damn good with a lockpick.” Left unspoken is that those witnesses are Dunlap's crew. That you stole from them what they had stolen from others. That they couldn't report anything missing or stolen because then suspicion would be on them.
“I have no idea what you're talking about, Sheriff.” You're no fool. You know you're being recorded. You know their admissible evidence is circumstantial at best. Just keep calm. Keep denying.
“Alright,” Lee sighs as he stands, gathering up his files. “I'll just let you sit in here for a while longer and think these things through.” He walks over to the door and knocks twice. When it doesn't open right away, Lee turns towards the door and bangs on it a couple of times, not happy to me made to look like a fool. The peephole slides open and Lee is taken aback at the sight of Dunlap himself.
“Well ifn' it ain't the thief and the traitor,” Dunlap chuckles darkly. “And both trapped in here like the rats ya are. See, Bodecker, we've gone and sent all your boys home. Ain't nobody here what can open this door. We're gonna leave the two of you in here overnight and, come morning, one of you'll be dead. The other will have been recorded per the camera watchin' y'all and we'll be making copies to keep safe. So long as the survivor behaves.”
You quickly glance to Lee's belt and notice he isn't wearing his holster. No gun, you might have a chance.
“You sunnova bitch,” Bodecker bangs the door, hurting his fist. Dunlap laughs before closing the slider.
Lee sits back down, slamming the files down. “Shoulda known you'd get me in trouble like this. You ain't been nothin' but trouble since you started hittin' their properties.”
“I'm surprised you're not already choking me to death,” you reply coldly. “You've been in their pocket for so long, I figured there was nothing you wouldn't do for them.”
“I have my limits, little missy,” he retorts.
“Yeah, limits that keep you looking good to the public.”
“Limits that help good people keep doing good things,” he argues. “Your Aunt Mabel was one of them good people.”
“Don't you talk about her!” Your outburst is just as surprising to you as it is to him.
Lee sees his advantage and presses, “do you know how many times I had to keep them Dunlap boys from takin' her hostage so they could get to you? Your great-aunt was a pillar in this community. The kind o' person who's disappearance would get everyone up in arms, and they still wanted to use her as bait to get you to stop stealin' from them. I was the only reason they didn't.”
You try not to cry in front of him. You're horrified at the thought that you put Aunt Mabel in danger. “I have no reason to believe you,” you snap at him. “You lie through your teeth all the time for them. Why wouldn't you do so now?”
“Because, as I said before, I got my limits.” He stands and puts his hands on the table, leaning right into your face. “And you're pushing all of 'em right now!”
You smack him so hard he has to sit back down. He'd been so distracted with being angry he hadn't noticed you'd picked your handcuffs with an earring you'd palmed during processing. You toss the handcuffs at him, “I've got my limits, too. I don't kill. Now let's see about finding another way out of here.”
“Good luck with that,” Lee seethes. “That two-way glass can't be broken by the chairs and the table is sealed to the floor. Safety precautions and all that.” You're out of your cuffs so he needs to be even more on guard.
“Such a defeatist attitude, you chide.
“I'm bein' realistic here,” he counters. “That door can only be opened from outside. It's got electric seals or whatever. There ain't any way to break that mirror. And those are the only two ways outta here!”
“Oh just shut up a minute and let me think,” you yell at him.
The two of you glare at each other for a while before he takes a deep breath and throws his hands up. “Fine. We'll call it a truce until we're truly desperate.”
“Thanks.”
You stand up, rubbing your wrists, and start pacing your side of the small room. You never turn away from Lee, never let him fully out your sight. He might look like he's in a relaxed position but you're not one to underestimate him.
“I'm guessing we're not worried about spilling the beans,” you huff. “Otherwise you never would've admitted half the shit you just did while being recorded.”
“Dunlap's gonna keep the tapes. Ain't nothin' we can say that'll get us in more trouble than we're in already.”
“Do you want to know why I stole from everyone that I did?”
“Meh,” he shrugs. “Might help pass the time until we really snap.”
“I was stealing back the ID's and personal belongings from the girls they were trying to traffic.”
Lee freezes for a moment before looking at you, “what do you mean? They ain't doin' any human trafficking.”
“Oh like you didn't know,” you scoff. “You've been to Leon's Red Motel more than once.”
“Never allowed back there,” he shakes his head. “Only ever allowed to drink at the bar. Said they couldn't have the sheriff seen enterin' a whorehouse.”
“Bullshit, Bodecker. You knew it was whorehouse but you didn't think to ask how they got the girls to work there?”
“They told me it was just girls that was down on their luck, needed the money,” he says thoughtfully.
“Yeah, they were down on their luck because they'd been kidnapped. Their identities got stolen and used for fake ID's to sell to rich kids. Helping them escape was...easy enough. But they needed help getting home. They needed money and ID. So I stole from the people who stole everything from them.”
“Then why'd you hit the Governor's place? That's the part that never made no sense to me.”
“I'm genuinely surprised he called that in.” You stop your pacing and look at Lee. “That safe I hit was full of his own bribes from Dunlap and others like him. The cash he kept off the books and used when he didn't want to get audited. Largest payday I ever made.” Your tone softens, “got to help a lot of people and sent Aunt Mabel a check every month.”
“She said you'd promised to send her money from the new job you told her you got.”
“She didn't need to know it's source. Just needed the cash to know I was alive and doing well.”
“Funeral director said you'd paid everything in cash.”
“More difficult to trace, of course. Not too surprised he turned me in. He tried to overcharge for everything and I called him out on it.”
Lee chuckled at that, “he shoulda known better than to try that with a bitch like you.”
“Damn right,” you say with a half smile. “Aunt Mabel didn't raise me to get walked all over, no matter how distracted I am.” A tear runs down your cheek and you're unable to wipe it away before Lee sees.
“She was a good woman,” Lee nods.
Silence falls over the two of you. You're unsure of how much time has passed but the angry tension between you and Bodecker seems to have calmed a smidge.
“I'm gonna go ahead and examine this door, then the mirror,” you tell him. “Can I trust you not to attack me while I'm doing so?”
“I fully support you findin' a way outta here where neither of us has to die,” Lee informs you. “So I'll happily keep from attackin' you. I'll even let you cuff me to the table if'n you need, provided you promise to pick the lock for 'em to get me out again.”
You nod, “I'll consider it. For now, door.”
Lee nods and, as a sign of his intentions to not attack, moves himself so he's on the opposite side of the room as you.
You look the door over for almost an hour. You turn back to Lee, “what all do you have in your pockets? I've got an idea, but I need to know what I've got to work with.”
“Not much,” Lee admits. He pulls out a couple of pens, his wallet and badge.
“More than what I've got.” You look over everything and the plan starts forming. “You said that the door is electrically sealed, right?”
“Sumthin' like that. Never really learned the actual details,” he confesses.
“The fun thing about doors like this, they ain't as strong as they look. It's a heavy door, made from good material, but it's got weak spots.” You grab the unlocked cuffs and, between them and one of Bodecker's credit cards, you're able to work out some of the screws around the sliding peephole. You use some leverage with the handcuffs and are able open a small gap to the inner workings of the door itself. Not much, but it's a start.
“Holy shit,” you hear Lee mutter.
“Would you be willing to try to pry this open a bit more? Pretty sure you've got the stronger arms here.” You move out of Lee's way as he gets to work with the handcuffs.
Your theory proves true as he has a much easier time prying away a bit at a time. The material is still strong stuff, but with more of the door's interior exposed, the more you can mess with. The more you can mess with, the weaker you can make the whole thing.
“I gotta ask,” Lee grunts as he works at more of the seams. “How d'you know your meddling won't result in the whole thing locking up even worse? Like so that even with the code or whatever it can't open?”
“I don't,” you confess. “But it's not like we've got much choice if we want to stay alive.” He nods in agreement.
When there's finally room for you to work you grab one of the pens from the table. You work carefully to bring some wires out without dropping the pen. Several of them are bundled together and you get them just out of the door's interior, using the pen to keep them from falling back in.
“Now, the odds of this being the bundle we need aren't great,” you tell him.
“But it's what we've got to work with,” he finishes for you. “You want the pin side of my badge to try piercing or cuttin' 'em or do you wanna just try pulling them out?”
“Never thought you were one for pulling out, Sheriff,” you joke. His cheeks turn pink and you're quick to apologize. “I'm nervous so I'm making bad jokes. Sorry.”
He nods in understanding. “How about I just go ahead and pull?”
You step out of his way, hand never leaving the pen so the wires don't drop back in. Lee nimbly grabs the wires with a couple of fingers, all that he can get to fit around them in the small space, and yanks them with all his strength. He doesn't have a lot to work with but the more he pulls, the more give he's getting.
“Try angling your pull,” you tell him. “Pull away from the sides, not just straight up. I think we'll be able to unplug them.”
Lee nods and tries out your strategy. It takes some work but after a bit the two of you hear a small snap and bundle of wires, including their plug, come out. At the same time, you both hear subtle click of the lock.
“That's progress,” you tell him.
“The door ain't openin',” Lee states.
“Not while the latch is still in place,” you concede. “But without that electric seal or whatever, we can bash a chair against where the handle is and break off the latch.”
“And by 'we' you mean 'me' I'm guessin'?”
“Well, you are the big strong Sheriff, right?”
You smile as he huffs, “I'll get to work.”
It takes a while, and several breaks, but eventually the two of you do break the latch and get the door opened. Considering no one yelled or inquired about the loud banging on the door, you both figured no one was around. You were still wary, though. Better safe than dead.
Lee leads you both to his office and he quickly grabs his keys before opening up the door next to the interrogation room. He grabs the camera and smashes the whole thing to pieces.
“No one's gonna get to hear what we talked about,” he mutters.
“So, now what happens? Are you going just going to let a wanted criminal go?”
Lee sighs, “whether you leave or stay, I ain't got much of a life here anymore. Between Dunlap's gang and knowing the Gov is in on it all? I'm a dead man if I don't leave the state.”
“Well, Bodecker, I guess it's a good thing I've got experience helping people escape bad situations.”
“I know we didn't start off on the best foot,” Lee rubs the back of his head nervously, “but I would appreciate the help.”
“Least I can do for your protecting Aunt Mabel. Now let's get the hell outta here.”

Silver Screen Bang: It comes to life!
I'm so happy to announce the first chapter of The Mummy AU by @sassasafreeaction is now on AO3.
The Mummy
(Rating: T, Ongoing)
After his brother Gabriel - or Jim as he prefers to be called now - presents him with a strange puzzle box containing an ancient map, Professor Fell sets out to find the mythical Hamunaptra, the City of the Dead. Along with his brother, his assistant Newton, and his old friend from university, Crowley, he goes on the daring adventure of his dreams and finds out exactly what sort of trouble one can get into from reading a book.
There is still so much more of this story (and another art piece). So stay tune!

Holiday Themed Oneshot - Putting a Star on a Christmas Tree (separate)
A/N: I mostly had this idea recommended to me from someone on wattpad [close to a previous year or two, I don't really remember] (they're no longer in the tmnt fandom but, I still greatly appreciated their help when I struggled with finishing my second x reader oneshot book.)
No warnings to this since its just fluff and an established relationship with the turtle of your choice
Midnight Glow
You held an instruction manual to Donnie's spare tech bo and tried to follow said steps. Adjusting the device as a makeshift weight to the ladder, hoping that it wouldn't tip over.
"I would advise against that if you want to spend the rest of the holidays with a potential injury. And possibly into the new year with how the human body doesn't heal overnight."
"Could you at least hold the ladder since you don't seem bothered by the winter cold?"
Donnie ignored your slightly annoyed remark and held your waist as small neon bright purple rockets lifted both of you off the ground. His left hand grabbed the star on top of the ladder and carefully placed it in your hands. Then placing his chin above your head.
"Does that solve your predicament of finally placing the star piece ornament on top of the christmas tree... I just barely woke up because you almost snuck off with one of my emergency tech bo without-
The star decoration illuminated the festive tree and the handmade trinkets, he and the rest of the turtle fam made from yesterday's unexpected snowed in event. His eyes slowly widen at your well made accessory beside his rushed attempt at one.
"Not my fault that you fell asleep early because you didn't charge your heater ahead of time. Plus, I wanted to see if the star piece really had colorful auras since it was from the Hidden City. Despite losing half my money to that and getting your surprise santa gift..."
You felt Donnie hid his face on to the back of your neck but, still squeezing you tight as both of your feet reached the ground floor.
"You still stole one of my inventions without my permission but, I'll let it pass because you made an effort to bring an instruction manual."
"I might need your assistance to make a few simple ones because its a headache trying to explain some to the dumb dumbs."
You slightly adjusted out of his grasp to kiss his lips as part of the deal then letting him holding you again.
The following afternoon, he still clinged to your side claiming how his heater suddenly has a faulty battery and added that to the endless list of assistant duties. You managed to sneak a picture of him taking a nap on your shoulder while you two made a trip for a replacement battery.
Last Minute Evening
Leo caught the star's piece ornament handle by the teeth as he spotted one of his portals near the kitchen ceiling. Seeing you distract Raph who was holding a few holiday decorations and groceries. The red slider turtle then focusing on taking hold of the nearby ladder and placing the last piece on the christmas tree.
Just as Leo was about to breath a sigh of relief, he winced accidentally tasting the leftover glitter from the decoration. Causing him to lose his balance on the last three steps of the ladder. You quickly rushed over to the sudden noise as the blue hero gave a thumbs up despite a small bruise forming by his ankle.
"All that matters is that we finally finished decorating the tree!"
"Close to 2 hours because a certain turtle wanted to poke fun on his least favorite Jupiter Jim movie..."
Leo hopped to the living room couch and took out the first aid kit underneath the chair.
"You barely saw half of the movie while sorting through the boxes. I still did my fair share getting the blue ornaments up."
You helped holding his leg by the couch's arm as he tied the long bandage wrap over the bruise.
"If we get stuck again to decorate next year's christmas tree, would you actually be more interested if its a Jupiter Jim themed or Lou Jitsu one?"
"Wait, is that actually a thing that exists?!"
You immediately blushed the instant he held your face, too excited at the mere thought of making that idea into a reality.
"N-not that I know of but, I'm not doing it if you gonna pull another last minute lazy Leo moment or expect me to distract Raph again."
Leo noticed you lightly pulling his forearms down with a blushed face. However, he still kept a firm yet gentle hold by your chin with a sincere grin on his face.
"Then I guess I have to be more serious to get what I want..."
After a few minutes, you were a bit lightheaded from his forehead kiss as both of you helped Raph with another holiday chore.
But...
"Hey (Y/N), why do you have glitter on your forehead-"
The red slider turtle ran past his two younger brothers carrying a bunch of rolled up wrapping paper. And you immediately running after him while Donnie was the only one with no worried reaction.
Afternoon Decorating
Raph steadied his breathing while his larger bright red form acted as a ladder while you set the last few decorations on the christmas tree. He hasn't tried this sort of trust exercise with you and can feel his focus slipping with the amount of worry inside his mind. (potentially causing another chasm on his forehead.)
His shoulders eventually relaxed as you placed the star safely and the other Raph mimicking the same movements as well.
Once you reached the ground floor, both Raphs blushed pink from your surprise thank you kiss on to the transparent figure's face.
"I wanted to try a spell from a book I snuck into Donnie's library card tag. And how much do you think it will cost if I want to keep it for myself?"
The alligator snapping turtle shook his head but, lightly chuckled at your idea.
"Guess Raph has to keep a closer eye on (Y/N), the next time they hide a smile or crossing their fingers behind their back."
Raph bridal carrying his significant other and returning a bunny kiss back at them.
"Boo, you're no fun~"
Early Morning Furnishing
You barely kept your eyes open while being under Mikey's fluffy pajama jacket over his shell. And normally you would squint because of the star and its bright lights but, you had enough energy to be in awe of the decorated tree, now shining more because of the box shell turtle's overly optimistic personality. As he greeted you with a kiss to your now blushing face.
"Sorry for the extremely early wake up call but, I thought it would be a nice change of pace to see the tree before the morning sun arrived."
You held onto his arm with a yawn, nuzzling close to his cold-blooded temperature.
"It does look sort of pretty but, please don't do this all the time. I'm not exactly a morning person..."
"I could make it up to you, a souffle pancake just for sweet ol' (Y/N)!"
You smiled wrapping his jacket around the both of you.
"I almost feel spoiled getting the breakfast in bed treatment any time I sleep over here."
"You're cute when you do it! I mostly get some whines from two turtles who know how to cook but, chose to be stubborn in the most petty way possible."
You kissed Mikey's beak before your face landed on his pillow.
"I guess I got very lucky dating a patient turtle..."
Mikey blushed as he tucked you into his blanket. A one lovesick sigh at your sleeping form before he heads out of his room to make the family breakfast.

The Arch Traders Traitors Association
The Whickber Street Shopkeepers and Traders Association. A collective made up of the business people of Whickber Street in London Soho. All of the members work in and/or or own a form of business in the area that provides goods or services to other people. The collective exists for its members to join together and provide support to one another for the mutual benefit of one another and their community.
Trader. A person who exchanges goods or services for money or other goods and services. Near-homophone for-- and often confused with-- Traitor.
Traitor. Someone who betrays a person or organization and rebels against it.
Shax to Gabriel: "You get back in there right now and you tell that ass, Aziraphale, and that arch traitor, Crowley..."
The Dirty Donkey. A pub on Whickber Street since some time prior to the 1940s. Next door to the bookshop. The doorway is the supernatural elevator Aziraphale gets in at the end of the season.
Donkey. Also known as an ass.
Arch. Deliberately or affectively playful or teasing... mischievous; roguish; wicked; naughty; knowing.
The Supreme Archangel of Heaven. The head of the archangels and the commander of Heaven's armed forces. Not really the head of Heaven-- that's The Metatron-- but otherwise in charge of stuff.
Also: The Supreme Archangel of Heaven. The most arch of the angels in Heaven.
So... Gabriel.
Archtraitor. The chief or transcendent traitor. The primary or leading betrayer or the one who has betrayed a person or a group more than anyone else.
Also: Arch traitor. The most arch of the traitors.
So... Crowley.
Gabriel. aka Jim. The Arch Supreme Archangel of Heaven. Also: An assistant bookseller at A.Z. Fell & Co. and a member of The Whickber Street Shopkeepers and Traders Association.
Crowley. The Arch Arch Traitor of Hell. Also: Professional midwife/cobbler, co-owner of A.Z. Fell & Co., and resident fixer of everything from vavooms to Jim's disastrous book organization to hot water boilers. Member of The Whickber Street Shopkeepers and Traders Association.
The Whickber Street Shopkeepers and Traders Association...
also known as...
The Whickber Street Shopkeepers and (Arch) Traitors Association.

Synopsis of the book:
"The first edition of the novel Marooned opens with the central character, Major Richard 'Dick' Pruett, attempting to come to terms with his impending doom. Pruett, an astronaut in the Mercury-Atlas IV program, is in orbit alone. His engines have failed to fire for re-entry and he is stranded in orbit, where he faces death due to asphyxiation as he depletes the on-board supply of oxygen. The story goes into an extended flashback that reviews Pruett's development as a US Air Force fighter test pilot and training as an astronaut.
As Pruett reviews his life, a friend of his in the astronaut corps, Jim Dougherty, refuses to accept that all is lost. He pushes NASA officials to mount a rescue mission using the prototype of a new spacecraft in development, the two-man Gemini.
The challenges are formidable. The rescue mission must be prepared and launched in a matter of mere days. Dougherty must fly the untested Gemini spacecraft solo, achieve a rendezvous with the Mercury vessel stranded in orbit, get Pruett on board the new spacecraft in the empty co-pilot's seat, and return to Earth. (At the time the novel was written, none of these tasks – Gemini launch, rendezvous or EVA – had been attempted.)
As NASA scrambles to prepare and launch the rescue mission, the Soviets secretly make their own plans to rescue Pruett first, rushing to send a cosmonaut aloft in a Vostok spacecraft. (In this version, the Soviets have already achieved the orbital objectives of rendezvous, docking and extravehicular activity [EVA]; in real life the Soviets did not achieve all these milestones until 1969.) Ultimately Dougherty succeeds in his mission and rescues Pruett; cosmonaut Andrei Yakovlev in the Vostok does rendezvous with the Mercury and provides assistance in the rescue (by using high-intensity spotlights to improve visibility) but does not take an active physical role in it. The novel ends with all three spacemen returning safely to Earth."

"All right, then, I'll go to hell”
Huckleberry Finn's friend Jim, a runaway slave, has been locked up in a shed and has been sold. Huck is thinking about what to do and remembers what he learned in Sunday School of what happens to folks who assist runaway slaves.
“People that acts as I’d been acting about [Jim] goes to everlasting fire.”
(After all, the Bible is clear: “Slaves obey your earthly masters with respect and fear”- Ephesians 6:5.)
Huck decides to write a letter to the lady from whom Jim ran away to let her know where Jim can be found. Huck believes he'd been close to going to Hell for aiding Jim as he fled his enslavement, but now Huckleberry feels washed clean from his sins. Then Huck starts thinking of all the good times he had with Jim, and how he is now the only friend Jim has, and yet he is going to betray Jim. He looks at the letter he had written.
“I took it up, and held it in my hand. I was a trembling, because I'd got to decide, forever, betwixt two things, and I knowed it. I studied a minute, sort of holding my breath, and then says to myself: "All right, then, I'll go to hell"- and tore it up.”
This is the moral climax of the book Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Huck makes a moral choice based on his own valuation of Jim's friendship and human worth, a decision in direct opposition to the things he has been taught.
I feel the LDS Church puts queer people in this same quandary. We aren't equal to the other humans around us. We must live in a way that doesn't fit our orientation or gender identity and then we can go to heaven. But should we dare fall in love with someone and spend our life with them, or choose to love ourselves and express how we experience our gender identity, then no Celestial Kingdom for you. You're forever cast off to one of the lower kingdoms.
How many queer Latter-day Saints receive comforting messages from God that it's fine to move forward, that they are created this way? How many fall in love and then have to make this terrible choice of heaven or the person they love? How many can trade in their dysphoria if they will accept themselves and live authentic to their identity? How is it the thing that feels the most right and brings the most joy is also the thing which our religion strictly forbids?
We're reminded that there's eternal joy if we can struggle to deny ourselves in this life. But then we read in the Book of Mormon that "men are that they might have joy," and yet I'm to go without? I need to be miserable now in the hopes of joy once I'm dead?
"All right, then, I'll go to hell"

Memento mori
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8ca761283a9f1d1ab58c9c26c386445e/e998d9291c202b12-5f/s540x810/3550d4eaf8e1340e88ebc460915c8dc8cda7a264.jpg)
If you have the Good Omens book, you have probably seen the little winged hourglasses that act as section separators.
Then if you paid attention during S2, you would have noticed at least two visual representations of hourglasses appear: One on Jimbriel's assistant shopkeeper vest and a large one in Hell itself.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/315df290b2f25f46364b97ceba670bdf/e998d9291c202b12-72/s540x810/c490a1e7e3fd30b32478913cba41feb461444271.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/892cb76d8dc558537eaf72fcaea9c876/e998d9291c202b12-46/s540x810/70d687529750cfa4f6c9775713037bdbe6ba5b22.jpg)
(There are actually two time-related symbols on Jim's vest, but I'll start with the hourglass symbol.)
These are collectively known as the Memento mori, which is usually translated from the Latin into "remember that you die." It is a philosophical reminder about the inevitability of death, one of the major themes in GOmens, which is ironic since we are seeing from the viewpoint of immortal entities who don't have to face it themselves.
Artistically you may see this expressed by a skull and bones, or a skeleton, a coffin, or wilting flowers. Another form of it is the popular saying tempus fugit or "time flees" inscribed on sundials.
We can also hear it - the Danse Macabre, the piece of music the Bentley plays for Aziraphale on the way to Edinburgh, is another example of this theme, as it depicts the Grim Reaper carrying off the rich and poor alike.
Hurry up Aziraphale, you don't have all day!
The other time-related symbol on Jimbriel's vest is the ancient Greek meander pattern, named after the Maeander river in modern day Turkey.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ffc9cc63f1a897431523c487905ee3eb/e998d9291c202b12-22/s540x810/c49e918c2a7f33c297a1164af09467216c24b456.jpg)
This represents a winding river folding back on itself in big looping oxbow bends. Symbolically it represents both unity and infinity - the undulating flow of human life that continues on and on into eternity through reproduction.
Sounds like something we've heard before:
AZIRAPHALE: Ah. The point. Ah, well, you've heard of Earth? CROWLEY: Ehhh… Not as such? AZIRAPHALE: Ah. Blue-green planet. It'll be over there somewhere when they roll out that quadrant. Now that's where the “people” that we're currently designing are going to be. I've seen the plans. We're going to start out with a breeding pair, and then pretty soon there'll be oodles of them! They'll breed like...um...well, they'll breed like people.
OK, then. That kind of sums up the two competing main themes in Good Omens nicely. Everthing Has An End or Eternity.
The problem is, they both sound equally horrific.
#good omens#good omens 2#good omens analysis#good omens meta#memento mori#winged hourglass#hourglass motif#remember that you die#time flies#ashes to ashes dust to dust#danse macabre#aziraphale#the sound of music#on endless repeat#god is an eldritch horror
