ONLY A FIVE-SECOND WINDOW TO HIT SR-71
Recently, SR 71 pilot Steve Grzebiniak wrote, “Deceptive jamming, essentially defeated the SAM ( surface to air missile) capability to successfully intercept the SR 71 as the window to acquire track and launch was very limited.”
Jim Goodall, a well-known author of books about the SR-71, responded in messages to me. Then, SR 71 pilot David Peters responds to Jim about the subject of the SR 71 jammers and the probability of being shot down by the Russians.
Jim said, “As for the “Deceptive Jammer,” when searching for Habu’s to shoot down, the enemy has only about five (5) seconds to find, lock on, and fire its ‘boost glide’ SA-2. And they would have to be looking for it.
When one drives this 34-ton Black monster, remember that it flies through the heavens at over 3,200 feet per second, or 43 miles a minute.
With less than a half percent of the atmosphere at 85,000 feet, the SAM would have to hit the Blackbird, an impossible task as the control fins on the Soviet SA-2 are useless at 85k.
The only way to take down an SR-71 was to try to F.O.D. the aircraft by detonating it in front of the flight path in hopes of FODing the engine or shattering the cockpit windscreen.”
Lt. Col.David Peters responds, “As I have said many times, we only feared the SA10 nuclear. That’s because of exactly what you are talking about. A nuclear blast in front of us would likely prevent evasive action, unlike a 2 or 5, which we could theoretically get around. But suicide was never in the Russian mind, so we felt it was more than improbable. The other factor was they didn’t have very many, and they were mainly deployed around Moscow. It definitely factored into our emergency war order mission planning, as most of those were post-nuclear BDA around Moscow.”
I am grateful that these men took the time to respond to me. This confirms what I thought before that there was really nothing to fear while flying the SR 71 so close to Russia. I am still and always will be amazed at the talent of Kelly Johnson of the Skunk Works and his team that built the amazing SR 71.

Langley Kitchen, Langley, WA., 8/17/23
building – 138 Second Street, Langley, WA 98260 Owner Jim Goodall opened Langley Kitchen in November 2020 after running a restaurant in Seattle. He thought Langley needed more baked goods, especially cookies and set up shop there during the pandemic. Jitka Štěrbová: Zapomenutý sklář a přírodovědec II
Vyrazil do Drážďan.
Jednotlivé krabice byly naskládany do dřevěné bedny a vystlané slámou.
Po předchozí zkušenosti je vybalovali zaměstnanci univerzity pod dohledem celníků a rozbitých bylo minimum. Kromě platu dostávali skláři i spousty studijního materiálu, knih, rostlin i zahraničních cest. Vše si důkladně kreslili a pozorovali pod lupou i mikroskopem.
Díky jejich vášni a zapálení vznikaly modely k nerozeznání podobné originálům. Rudolf v roce 1899 napsal: Na každé procházce je něco, co můžu pozorovat, člověk nikdy nepozná všechny přírodní krásy a nikdy není příliš starý na to, aby ho příroda neměla co naučit.
Po smrti Leopolda, pokračoval Rudolf sám. Pokračovatele neměl, jeho rodina zůstala bezdětná a skleněné květiny vyráběl až do své smrti. Celkem jich s otcem vyrobili víc než 4300!
Děkuju za čtení i sdílení. A posílám večerníček:

Tuto unikátní sbírku vytvořili Leopold (1822-1895) a Rudolf Blaschkovi (1857-1939), dvojice českých sklářských vtvarníků, otec a syn. Během padesáti let, od roku 1886 do roku 1936, Blaschkovi vyrobili 4300 skleněných modelů, které představují 780 druhů rostlin.
Galerie Skleněné květy prošla v roce 2016 historickou rekonstrukcí, která představila přestavěné původní historické dřevěné a skleněné vitríny, nové moderní osvětlení a důmyslné konzervační systémy. Nově uspořádané prostory galerie a vědecký výklad ukazují trvalý vědecký význam sbírky a obohacují zážitek návštěvníků z modelů.
Výstava Z rukou tvůrců zkoumá, co je třeba k výrobě i konzervaci modelu, a zkoumá přetrvávající záhady obklopující výrobu skleněných květů - přísně střežená tajemství, která může odhalit pouze moderní technologie.

Are you feeling stuck or lacking in motivation? If so, you've come to the right place! Everyone can benefit from self-improvement, whether in their personal or professional lives. What's better than to find a self improvement quote that resonates with you.
Finding inspiration in the form of quotes is a great way to get started on our journey to self-improvement. Even when things get tough, these simple but powerful words of wisdom can help us gain perspective, stay focused, and keep moving forward.
Self-improvement is an ongoing process that necessitates consistent effort, dedication, and focus. It's not always easy, and we all experience setbacks and difficulties along the way.
The good news is that we are not alone! There are numerous resources available to help us stay motivated and inspired, and the self-improvement quote is one of the most powerful tools in our self-improvement toolbox.
Prepare to be motivated, inspired, and ready to conquer the world! I hope you find a self improvement quote that resonates with you.
Here are some of the benefits of seeking out any self-improvement quote:
They can help you gain perspective: When we're feeling overwhelmed or stuck, all we need is a fresh perspective to see things in a new light. Self-improvement quotes can provide a new perspective on a situation, allowing us to see things from a different perspective and gain the clarity we need to move forward.
They can help you stay motivated: Self-improvement takes time, and it's easy to lose motivation along the way. Inspirational quotes can help us stay on track and remember why we started in the first place.
They can help you maintain a positive attitude: It's no secret that having a positive attitude is essential for success. Even when things get tough, self-improvement quotes can help us stay positive and hopeful.
They can be a source of direction: We all need a little guidance or direction in our lives from time to time. Self-improvement quotes can provide valuable insights and advice, allowing us to more easily navigate life's ups and downs.
They can provide inspiration: The most significant advantage of self-improvement quotes is that they can be extremely inspiring. A well-crafted quote has the power to move our hearts, stir our souls, and motivate us to be our best selves.
So, if you're feeling stuck or need some motivation, look for some self-improvement quotes. You never know, they might just be the motivation you need to continue on your path to self-improvement.

This A-12 is looking rather rough.
Remember that the A-12 came first. There would be no SR 71 without the first blackbird the A-12 this was a CIA airplane.
This is an A-12 that was brought out of storage. The decision was made to mothball the CIA’s A-12’s
They felt that there was only money to keep the SR 71s fleet flying in 1968.
I found this photograph in Bob Archer‘s book “Lockheed SR- 71 Blackbird”.
It’s from the Jim Goodall collection.
A-12 #06924 is the first Blackbird built. First flown on 26 April 1962 by Lou Schalk, this A-12 is now on display next to SR-71A #17973 at the Blackbird Airpark in Palmdale, CA
