Jikook Week 40 Complete (10/09 - 17/09/2024)

Their 40th week in the military is now complete and Jimin and Jungkook have completed 50% of their time in the military. It's time to celebrate this milestone with a look back at this week in 2021.

The release of the MOTS: ONE DVD caused a stir this week. On 10/09, ARMY Twitter was buzzing with the news that Jimin had left a mark on JK's neck while JK was twirling him in his arms during late a night drinking session.

Jimin said it was a bite but on-line consensus concluded it was in fact a hickey (love bite). Look at Jin's reaction if you have any doubts about which is more likely.

As Rome burned, Jimin & Jungkook posted selcas on TwiX. Why do I get the feeling they were giggling into the phones as they did this.

BTS's youth ambassadorship was underway and the members were getting ready to go to New York to make a speech at the UNGA.

On 14/09, BTS met President Moon Jae-in at the Blue House to receive their certificate of appointment as Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generations & Culture. 

On 18/09, BTS flew to NYC & Jimin posted this beautiful jikook photo

and on 20/09 BTS appeared at the UN and recorded a live version of Permission to Dance. Busy, busy times for them all......

I've been missing Jikook like crazy these days 😭 It feels greedy, we constantly get updates of them giving autographs and we got sooo much content from them this year, but I feel a selca of just two of them from the ms would cure me right now 🥲

Do you think jungkook's recent choices will have a negative effect on bts as a group?

I do want to say the whole smoking thing doesn't bother me. At first, I did think the photos were taken without his knowledge, but after seeing the video, you can see he's aware that he's being recorded and doesn't really mind. I'm glad that he feels comfortable enough to show a more adult side of him with seven, the drinking, and the smoking. But at the same time, I see how bts has created this image for themselves over the years, and in a matter of months, jk had dramatically changed it. They all seemed to follow the rules and only did schedule lives at the company, but then JK started doing unapproved lives at home. All the members have really protected their social media presence, and then there's jk with tikok and following a thirst trap account 😅. Now we have the smoking out in public when the other 3 members who do smoke have done it out of sight. So I'm just curious how the other members feel about all of this. I do remember on one live JK did say the members told him not to drink on live anyone, but he didn't listen lol. I'm also on the edge of my seat because who knows what else we'll find out. If JK is going to continue to focus on the American market and with the popularity he has gained with seven, tmz is definitely going to have him on their radar.

I didn't even know there was a video, but after seeing it, it's not clear at all he knew he was being filmed. Even if he was, I don't think he would've been okay with it. Even if he was aware, he likely didn't want to be filmed, smoking or not. But I'm sure Jungkook knew he could be caught smoking outside the hotel, or wherever he was, and that was a choice he made, because I don't think he wants to hide doing normal stuff like smoking.

I don't see how Jungkook smoking or drinking will negatively impact the group. Suga smoked in Haegeum, Jimin shared his hard times during the pandemic in which he got drunk every night, all members have drank on camera - some of them have even gotten wasted. Why is it only a problem when Jungkook does it? Vmin have also done lives at their homes. Are you saying Jungkook is a bad influence and that they wouldn't have done it without him starting the "trend"? And why should Jungkook ask for permission to do a live for his fans? Why does he need to be supervised like a child? Who cares if that's the company policy? Fuck the company. They can debut minors with sexy concepts, but idols can't go live whenever they please?

You think Jungkook alone changed BTS's image? Like Crazy came out before Seven and it was much sexier and Western-like than anything BTS had done up until that point.

The members haven't "protected" their social media presence. Most of them don't even like social media, so they aren't very active. V posts sexy pictures all the time, RM wants to post art so he posts art. Jungkook literally deleted his IG, is rarely on Twitter, and pretty much just shares a few selcas and recipes on Weverse, apart from doing lives. He only accidentally shared his TikTok account, and what in the fucking world is wrong with having TikTok? And what thirst trap account is he following? I even looked it up and apparently he started following a bunch of dancers, one of whom has videos of herself twerking. Like, isn't twerking one of those basics moves all female dancers do? From what I saw, she seemed like a normal influencer type.

BTS are proud of Jungkook. Hobi and RM shared the explicit, not the clean, version of Seven and Suga knew the song would be a hit. No one is bothered.

I don't even know who the 3 members who smoke are, but V was seen with a vape way back in 2019 and was caught smoking at the 2021 Grammys, and Suga smoked in Haegeum. Jungkook isn't the first one.

Remember RM posting drunk videos of him singing, or Jikook drunk FaceTiming? BTS have an agreement, which is to not post things on social media when drunk, and it's a good policy, but one they've broken before. Jungkook wasn't the first one to go online drunk. And Jungkook was only tipsy in a few of his lives, not drunk to the point he couldn't watch what he said or did.

We know how the members feel. They're okay with Jungkook - proud of him. I doubt there's any drama. And you "being on the edge of your seat" to see what other "scandal" Jungkook will get caught up in is really fucking weird. Leave him alone. I may be a bit judgmental, but this is just wishing for his downfall. I assure you it won't happen.

Also, Jungkook isn't the only one trying to break away from their conservative group image. Jimin did it with Like Crazy, RM is also subtly pushing the envelope, Suga did it for Haegeum, and V pretty much allowed himself to get caught dating in Paris. Why is JK the only one "stirring up trouble"?

No, JK's actions won't destroy either him or the group. BTS are still the biggest group in the world, and Jungkook is the biggest idol.

We are witnessing a love story unfold infront of our eyes and are celebrating it.

But the moment Kookmin shares a selca with us we all go WILD wild , screaming everywhere like we haven't been getting a moment for a decade.

NOT TO MENTION that today is apparently National First Love day. And we got a Jikook selca for the first time in a very long time that was not prompted by a birthday or a vlive. And they are both 2 of the most inactive members on SM lately and after ALL THE MOMENTS they have dropped on us lately, they post selcas right after each other when Kiss Mark is trending in Korea and hickey is trending worldwide... and then they post a selca together when traveling together on today of all the days? Coincidence? Maybe, but it's quite the Coincidence then.

Not to mention the touching of the heads. They are always touching their heads together in their selcas and when standing together in photos. The heads are constantly touching 😭 why do they insist on posing so boyfriend?!

Look, okay? Just.... we will all cry over every crumb and all die over every big moment. I'm glad they chose to share their love with us like this. It's beautiful.

Jikook and their “Don’t give a **** “ era ?

There is something that I have noticed recently whilst researching for my Live Reaction threads. That is, 2021 seems to have been claimed as the "jikook don't give a **** era." This isn't just from jikookers, but from the fandom and general public too. I have seen this phase used a lot when looking back into 2021 moments and also with the recent release of Memories 2021. One example of this was during the second Seasons Greetings 2022 teaser. Just like the change of reaction to the ramen comments, the way people responded to this was vastly different to how the fandom reacted to 2021 Seasons Greetings. I shall explore where this phrase has come from and what has caused it to start.

The end of 2020 going into 2021

The first teaser for Seasons Greetings 2021 came out on the 9th November 2020, giving us an idea of what the concepts would be to begin with. The second teaser was uploaded on the 11th November. During this video, you could see a clip of Jimin and Jungkook in similar attire. It was obvious by the clips of the other members that Jikook would be in a unit together. 

Fast forward to December 16th and clips from the DVD were slowly being uploaded. However, a certain unit clip was missing from the Twitter timeline. This was Jimin and Jungkook's pizza unit. We did not see it in full until Peaches had uploaded it, causing jikookers to thank them for all their effort. JK accounts at the time were asked why they did not include their unit scene with no response. It included Jeon Jungkook, so why not include the content clip when he is with Park Jimin?  

Around the same time of Seasons Greetings we had a flurry of jikook. MMA Black Swan was on the 6th December, which showed Jimin and Jungkook’s clear dance skill and chemistry. This was quickly followed by the Dynamite Holiday Remix on the 11th, showing a very comfy looking jikook being intimate with each other. We also saw some very sweet moments between jikook in early 2021 when Winter Package was released on February 27th. All of this footage clearly highlighted the bond between Jimin and Jungkook. Nothing new to jikookers who are used to seeing them being close, but to some these clips had started a certain spark.

Butter Era On the 21st May 2021, Butter was released with a press conference and vlive on the same day. After the press conference @bts_bighit posted a group photo. In it, Jimin is leaning his head on Jungkook’s cheek with their bodies turned to each other. There was a slight murmur in the fandom. Nothing big, but Jimin and Jungkook’s stance in the official photo was definitely noticed. It’’s this photo that sparks the catalyst for the idea that Jikook were showing more than previous years in 2021.  We later got Bangtan Bombs of Jikook being together for the photoshoot for Butter and during the making of the MV. You couldn’t ignore that they were often together in these videos where Jimin and Jungkook are playing or goofing around, whilst the other members rested or played with their phones. Again, this is nothing new.

There were no shortages of cute jIkook moments. From cute moments from Run BTS, with Jungkook’s Mother saying she loved Jimin. To interviews with Jikook yet again ending up in their own little worlds. We had Jungkook admitting that he is Jimin's Copycat. With VLives where Jimin and Jungkook can’t keep their eyes or hands off each other. Then seeing Jikook sing “Anyone” together followed by Jimin literally jumping into Jungkook’s arms. Something that is clearly natural between them. Throughout the entire year, there were countless clips of Jikook being together.

The End of 2021

Just like 2020 there was an influx of Jikook towards the end of the year. On September 10th we got the release of MOTS ON:E DVD, with the famous hickey clip. Followed by Jimin and Jungkook posting selcas whilst it was trending. A few days later,  a selca was posted of Jikook together at the airport on their way to the UN. With some saying it reflected a couples trend at the time. At the event itself, Jungkook gave Jimin a look of support after he lost his place and defended him during the Vlive afterwards. You will know from other clips that Jikook communicates through looks or smiles, giving support even in important events.

On Jimin’s Birthday we got the very domestic Vlive, where Jimin rang for Jungkook. Jungkook arrived very quickly and the two could NOT stop holding hands and being very sweet together until Jimin continued his vlive alone again. You could not deny the vibes here as soon as Jungkook entered the room. The same happened during the Vlive with Jobi, Tae, Jimin and JK in America. As soon as Jungkook was there, JImin lit up and his body language changed. The tones they both used. The way they acted and spoke about each other. ARMY must have felt the same way, because this VLive had such a positive reaction and they recognised the same behaviour in future vlives.

It had been a long time since BTS had performed in front of an audience. The atmosphere was huge in the US and Seoul. You will see Jikook behave the same way in 2021 and 2022 as they have in previous years. The fun dances, the flirting, the butt smacking. All of it. However, to those that are unaware it was like they needed a reminder. The reactions to all the concert performances in terms of Jikook were the loudest. ARMY could not believe that Jikook was doing this in front of so many people in a stadium. Forgetting moments at locations such as Rose Bowl and Hamilton.

To me, it is obvious that 2021 was not a “don’t give a **** era” for Jikook. It was just a period of time where the fandom and public became more aware of them. They have always had fun during DNA. Always supported each other. Always behaved the same way. However, this time, some ARMY have indeed opened their eyes. It’s not just jokes that last a few days, some are really looking back and asking themselves if there is something there. It’s not Jikook that has changed, it’s how they are perceived by their own fandom.

People should send in these "facts" with receipts if they want to be taken seriously. And even if k kookminers are choosing to "jump ship" I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean for anyone other than the individuals involved. It's not like jikook told people to stop shipping them and k-kookminers are trying to explain that to people who didn't take them seriously. Hi Georgia! Thank god all those tkkrs and antis come to your blog, they opened my eyes, I was so wrong about life but they fixed my misconseptions!

1. Turns out, IG is the only proof of life, at least since 02Dec.2021. As I don't post shit there my personal life in particular is a mysery and in general I'm dead, hello from the other side! That's obviously the only reason jm posts sth once in a while too as much as he don't like it, just to let the world know he's still alive.

2. Celebrities get into relationships based on opinions of internet anons who ship them. I bet that's how tomdaya got together, their agents told them they're being shipped. I can totally see that convo bw jk and tae:

3. Twitter trends obviously also prove which ships are real. Like, the more ppl want sb to be together, the bigger the chance those 2 will be together cuz 1) see par.2 and 2) the sheer power of thought, if ur wish is strong enough it comes true, especially if you keep repeating it like a prayer. Jikook trending doesn't count though cuz apparently fanservice, duh.

4. Jikook is definitely a fanservice cuz all we know abt them happened ON cameras, that's how we know anything at all and so their relationship is all fake. Tkk is real cuz all their meaningful moments happen OFF cameras and no one has literally zero proof those moments happened which means they definitely happened, thank god there are smart shippers who could figure that out of thin air. Homophobia doesn't exist there, that's why BH covers the real gay couple with the fake gay couple, the only reason celebs don't rush to come out is cuz their nasty companies want them to play straight to milk all those naive female fans who dream of marrying them one day or believe celebs are all saints who gave chastity vows. FIRST JIKOOK SELCAS OF 2021 ON JK DAY

How would you Interpret Jikooks relationship development over the years? Cause I’m my head, from content and observation, developments I’ve mentally put it down as (below) but I’m always so interested in others interpretations and why.

2012 - 2014 ~ friends/bandmates, jimin was in a deep caring for Jungkook stage which could’ve been seen as “brotherly” to some.

2015 ~ crushing, developing romantic feelings, mutual pining, seeking for attention, push/pull (will they? Won’t they?)

2016 ~ duo routines, pondering over possibilities/problems, maybe admitting feelings, rain fight? (I don’t really get the vibe they were dating though, very close) increase in affection/verbal compliments

2017 ~ discovering what they are, developing into a full relationship, getting a lot closer, shameless flirting, gifting, the year they told the members?

2018 ~ trying to figure out how a relationship will work for them, dos & don’ts, balancing, plus a hard year for them work wise, I don’t see them getting a full chance to develop their relationship efficiently, they mostly posted a lot of selcas. Very supportive during tours/injuries.

2019 ~ they’ve figured things out, they’re head over heels, attached at the hip, thriving on love euphoria, grand gestures, incredibly sweet.

2020 ~ domestic, getting a chance to “live” as a couple minus the drama of flying/touring, settling, fully committed, seeming almost restless at keeping it hidden, where one is, the other is. Bold & questionable moments.

2021 ~ “married” vibes so far. Very warm and sweet. Seem to be very much still in love and happy with each other’s company. Still much to be seen though. I’m not sensing any issues with them, just a decrease in content.

I have to refer you to my timeline anon, because the way I see Jikook and how and when they became a couple is differently than you.- My masterlist.

I've seen a lot of Jikookers thinking the relationship started only in 2017, and I find myself wondering how these major moments from 2015 & 2016 are being ignored.

Moments like:

Not to mention BV1 the Osaka Vlive, followed by JM's impression of Regina George Vlive & the Tokyo Vlive. There are many other 'couplie' moments all throughout that time period.

So yeah, as far as I am concerned, by 2017 they are well into building a relationship, and at that point they are also well into finding the balances needed within a healthy relationship.

By 2018, after the Tokyo trip and GCFT, may I remind you, their relationship is fully developed and only strengthening and coming back from Tokyo a boldness is added to the mix.

2018 is the year of BV3, GCFS ("I don't wanna hide no more...") and MAMA 2018, amongst others.

2019 is world tour. Being far from home may have given them a freedom they missed back in SK. Being in the USA gave them boldness, a feeling they can be more open and less judged, perhaps. This would be, by my count, a fourth year into their relationship. Their confidence in themselves and in their relationship is growing. They know what they want, they know who they love, they are not ashamed of it and it looks like they are testing the waters, in a way, once again but even more so, pushing the boundaries even more and more - how will people react? will people understand what they mean to each other? or will they continue to 'hide in plain sight'?

So, they were even wilder and just all over 'more'.

As for 2020-21, well, there is no doubt the pandemic had a great effect not only on the band but on JK&JM's relationship as well. Being 'stuck' in SK, unable to go on tour, having this unclarity, especially the first half of 2020, when we were all up in the air, not knowing or understanding where this is leading us, they had the time to 'settle down', perhaps live as a couple, one way or another. Yes, they have been living together for many years, but that still isn't the same as cohabitating as a couple, by themselves, without others surrounding them.

I see a calmness, a maturity and confidence to the relationship, now much more than ever. If before there was a gravitation towards each other, it feels even stronger now. Yes, they are professionals and part of a band of 7, so they cannot constantly be together, but when they find the opportunity, they are, on and off camera. They constantly gravitate towards each other. And when they can't, they just can't keep their eyes off each other (funny to see how at times it's a real struggle for them to not look at each other).

As for the flow of future content, well I say let's be thankful for whatever we get, and we will, mark my word.

I have seen this whole video a while ago, this video is dedicated towards the growth of jimin's and jungkook's relationship. It was beautifully edited and all of jikook's moments were compiled together in chronological order from 2013 (when they first debuted) till 2021.

Well, anon, feel free to send in another ask or you can also hit me up in the DM's! I will gladly give my take on the moments you have thoughts about! Since this video is extremely long and full of moments, I can't possibly give my observation for every single moment. If you were more specific on which moments, I will not hesitate to elaborate more about it.

Nevertheless, here's a quick run-through of jikook's dynamics throughout the years.

2013/2014

looking at 2013 chemistry, we have seen jimin being very brave to acknowledge that he's affectionate towards jk. He likes to call jk cute and does like to compliment him but bear in mind that this was just only the beginning of BTS's debut. Jimin didn't have much time to connect with the members as he was one of the last members to join :)

Based on my observation, Jimin felt more connected towards Jungkook as he was the group's maknae and is from Busan which I where Jimin's from (Im not ignoring the fact that Tae also played a big part as a close friend towards him) Jimin just wanted to build and establish a great bond with jk. (just too attached)

For JK, it's not like he never liked jm, it's just that he was more reserved and was getting into the zone. He had always endeared jm and valued jimin's presence. He has always had those shiny eyes for his hyung ever since the beginning!

Then in 2014, we saw the equations developing gradually.

Things were going on as usual, the normal teasing was going on, the same old wooing and casual chats, jimin wanting to go on a trip with Jungkook.

2014 was just a slow process for the dynamics to progress.

2015

I believe jikook's relationship hit a milestone in 2015. Things started to show very much. It was a turning point.

We saw jungkook turning vocal. His body language and expressions were clear enough for us to know that something was up between them. The sudden praising and flirtiness coming out of that guy were crazy.

We saw them being closer and more flirty throughout 2015. The back hug-slow dance that not many noticed.

2015 was a year great for them, things began to be great between them, and the intimacy between them grew. They also were exploring their feelings that year, which I think is a great thing!

2016

Even more giggles and flirtiness. Just jikook being very obvious that year. But first, check this out.

Apart from that, Jikook received a term from karmy and the media. Karmy started calling Jikook the Sun and Moon duo in 2016 after the coming-of-age ceremony. Jimin is known as the moon and jk as the sun.

Oh boy, this one has got to be one of my favourite years of jikook chemistry. This was officially it, you know? From serendipity, gcf-t to award shows. Good lord, save my heart.

We got the iconic gcf-t in Tokyo which was a phenomenal video jk made (no one expected that coming) "running, running just to get my hands on you". Jimin through Jungkooks eyes <3

I genuinely feel so happy for both of them!

Then we got the Serendipity MV. Serendipity has A LOT OF DETAILS! It's connected to jikooks relationship. I find that song very therapeutic and full of warmth and love.

If you remembered what I said (linked my Zico post) in the 2016 timeline, you would notice that the "you are me and I am you" has a connection with serendipity. That trail of 너는 나고 나는 너야 ( Neoneun Na Naneun Neo) began from there. Jikook's never-ending usage of that quote will forever be our favourite 🥰

Of course, we will not forget jikook in Bon Voyage, lol. We got so much of jikook crumbs that year. Damn, it's crazy, lol.

RE MEMORIES 2020 TKK

I'm losing my mind😭😭😭😭

Sigh.

When it comes to those two, I think I've said and I maintain the company's move to intervene and facilitate their bond predates memories 2019.

If anything, the end of 2020 is when they actively started consciously pairing them in content and 2021 is when we've seen that kind of conscious curation of 'ships' become more frequent and routine- pack it up Bighit. We know about Jikook and we know what y'all doing lately too. Y'all ain't fooling nobody.

We discussed this bit on the other platform.

What happened. We used to be so close.

I really don't expect to see much of Tae Kook in memories 2020. I really don't. In 2021 memories, sure. In 2020, not so much.

But that don't mean they don't have any TKK moments at all. We are still gonna get something. Especially early 2020 when those two were at a really good place- with Tae providing a lot of emotional support for JK and JK allowing himself to be vulnerable with him.

I just don't expect it to be of the same quality or quantity as say JinKook or Jikook. Unless, like I said BigHit editors consciously 'aided' them- like they've been doing lately.

I think we talked about this on the other platform. I was happy about their end of year selca only to find out they had deliberately taken that photo for the fans- who is FANSERVICE NOW?

If I had said JK looked like he had been dragged there to take the photo from that tight corners of his lips in the photo I would have caught a case on these streets from Tuktukkers and the wannabe fake woke jokers moonlighting as Tuktukkers. But sir energy don't lie.

By Soop is when they had talks of having drifted apart over the years. By dynamite there were some lowkey tensions between them and Tae was trying to reconnect or at least making the effort. By end of 2020 JK was throwing around that whole 'we used to be so close' phrase around willy nilly.

I feel BigHit is personally invested in the public reputation of the members- especially those two and if they feel they need to make a good impression and fix their broken image because it contradicts the BTS kumbaya agenda then they would want to take this opportunity to correct that through memories as they've been doing with the recent pairings throughout 2021.

More like, 'look Taekook are all good now.' Here they are eating ice cream together. Here they are taking a walk down the street holding hands. Here they are caring for eachother. Look Jk wiped Tae's tears.

They would want to put their 'chemistry' on full display- if they have that sort of content lying around💀 I mean that is the whole point of Memories isn't it? But like I said, they can't show us what they don't have. If they have it we will see it.

That's what I meant in my last post. I don't see how that's confusing or contradictory. Lol.

For JK, I'm actually looking forward to seeing more Namkook moments than Minimoni- organically I mean. Simply because Namkook as a pair through 2020 were equally conscious of building and nurturing their bond.

With Jikook, I don't know what to tell you. Their moments of tensions are usually short lived. They make up faster than you'd expect and wouldn't allow petty disagreements to ruin their bond to the point they would need say the company to intervene and fix their relationship.

That's just because Jimin is Jimin and JK is Jk. I mean JK's mother is not out here Jiminah saranghae-ing like a proud in law because she thinks or expects Jimin to not care or look after her son. Jimin is his hyung. Whatever happens with them I feel he will always have love for JK and often times is willing to overlook certain things. He's said so himself. He lets Jk get away with so much because he is cute and the Maknae.

I can't imagine Jikook drifting apart while still in the same band. Sure they will fight, sure they will disagree, hell I maintain they break up from time to time but I don't think it's ever going to be that bad.

I have my reservations about memories 2019. I'm waiting for memories 2020 to confirm my suspicions. How they treat Jikook in this will be so telling of a lot of things. But I'm not at all worried about them if you know what I mean?

Memories 2019 was a dump.

Jikook are real regardless. They don't need dumping or visibility to be real. Their bond has always been commercially convenient hence the visibility. Isn't that why people brand them as fanservice? Ships do have commercial value and are relevant and I remember saying if it were up to BigHit they will have more of ships like Jikook. The problem is the intersectional nature of ships. Tae and Kook have a dynamic as does Kook with Jimin and Jimin with Tae.

Taekook and Jikook are mutually exclusive as far as the nature of their bond goes. Both cannot be real at the same time.

Tae Kook can't be what Jikook is.

That one time in On Era the editors captioned a Tae kook moment as romantic was interesting to me. Things like that can create problems within Vminkook. Imagine everyone praising your best friend and your partner and calling them power couple and romantic while your own relationship gets defined as brothers, friends etc and not recieve the same respect and acceptance.

If Tae kook is real, all that homoerotic charge and romanticization of Jikook would be problematic as fuxk. As would Tae Kook if Jikook is real.

All that being said, I said I won't put it past BigHit to pull a fast one over Tuktukkers. They are in a for profit business not charity. If Tae Kook sells I trust they would be selling that to us. Unfortunately what Tuktukkers want is not Tae Kook, it's Jikook with TaeKook's name on it. That, I don't think anyone can help them with.

Hey there! I hope you’re having a great start to your weekend! Wanted to get your thoughts on why you think JK has gone completely radio silent ? My personal thoughts are that he is just done right now with the level of toxicity out there over every little move he makes. I feel like he’s in protective of mode of himself, Jimin, and the other members. I can’t even imagine being under that big of a microscope with so many just waiting to pounce the moment he says/does/posts something. He’s damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t. It’s got to be crushing not to be able to show his support for the members, especially Jimin, publicly. It makes me so sad. He’s always been so vocal with his actions about his feelings for him 💜💜He’s such a good guy, a kind and caring soul. I know sometimes he appears aloof and spaced out but I don’t think this is one of those times. If he felt he could post without causing distress (because of haters) to Jimin I think he would do it in a heartbeat 💜

Hi! I know you are new. So I'm not going to get into a ton of everything your said. You weren't here, so you won't recongize the pattern. But both JK and Jimin have been the least active members on social media since 2019. When they first started their official Instagrams, JK had a lot of fun playing with the new app, especially using it to connect with ARMYs and keep entertained during all of their times being quarantined. But otherwise he hasn't ever been super active. Jimin was pretty active pre 2019, but since then, has slowed down a lot. You could come up with a million theories as to why, including just, he has gotten older and it's not a priority at this point. JK was super active towards the end of 2022, as he was promoting his different activities and was garnering attention for it (different Collabs, Dreamers, etc). Jimin is now super active as he has been promoting his own stuff and making sure he keeps his name out there as his projects drop. Dior, W Korea, Vibe Collab and his new album coming soon. When it's JKs turn for album promotion, you'll start seeing him pop back up all over SM too. And when Jimins promotions are over, his presence on SM will slow back down too I'd bet. JK even said the last time we saw him on a live stream, that after he finishes up with Dreamers, he doesn't have much of a schedule or projects to focus on. So social media promotions aren't something he is going to worry about. And not being on social media is not the same thing as not showing your best friends support for what they are doing. I'm positive all the members have wished Jimin and Jhope well on their Paris trip and were super excited for them. No matter if a post was posted or not.

In 2017, Yoongi (who has taken to Instagram and loving it lately) was so avoidant of social media and their Twitter account that Jimin once even posted a photo of him saying "he's alive" since ARMY hadn't seen him in so long and Jimin saw lmfao

Basically, being absent from SM is not abnormal. And while we might miss them, it's not something worth theorizing over. It's normal, especially for JK, it's fine. It's something newer fans might not always remember as they showed up during a time where JK was making ARMYs question their sanity over how active he was being. Lol man basically barely posted at all in 2020. There are tweets from 2019 about how much ARMY misses JK but they understand his perceived "break from SM" that they assumed was a break since the man barely posted. Lol he posted a jikook selca once, a gym photo once, in 2021 he posted a monthly Selca and everyone was celebrating getting to see JK more than ever 😂

Basically I don't think he is worried about it either way, and therefore neither am I. I do miss him though! Just like I missed Jimin so much last year too! BTS solo careers and their presence online during them will be a new thing we have to get accustomed to I guess lol

Jungkook and His Cover Songs: Is “10000 Hours” about Jimin?

Disclaimer: The following post includes theories, lyric and numeric analysis, plus my personal opinions, so please don’t take anything seriously. I’m too lazy to upload photos and videos for the moments I mentioned here, but I’m sure you know about them all. Any Jikooker must know. And I’m not Korean or a Korean culture expert, I just know as much as any Stan Twitter ARMY knows about their culture.

Maybe one of the biggest Jikook moments of 2021 so far, is where Jimin jumped into Jungkook’s hug, in Lee Hyun’s Vlog. But the other moment on that Vlog was even more significant; Jungkook was singing “Anyone” from Justin Bieber’s new album, and Jimin was harmonizing with him while holding on his shirt. I don’t want to mention their interview moment singing “Peaches” because I know this song is super popular in South Korea right now and somehow it doesn’t count as a moment. But it’s safe to say that Jikook has something special with his songs, and JK in particular always was invested in him. 

JK & JB

The reason behind Jungkook’s devotion to Justin Bieber was always a big question for me, and I got my answer not long time ago. Jungkook’s playlist for Melon Radio Station included a song from JB’s new album named “Lonely”. This is one of the most personal songs any artist can ever make, and JK recommended it to his audience. Here are the lyrics of “Lonely” by Justin Bieber:

Everybody knows my name now

But somethin' 'bout it still feels strange

Like lookin' in a mirror, tryna steady yourself

And seein' somebody else

And everything is not the same now

It feels like all our lives have changed

Maybe when I'm older, it'll all calm down

These lyrics made me think of one specific thing, the thing that JK and JB have in common: They started their careers at a very young age, and their lives have been under the scrutiny of so many people. These people judged and criticized them but never tried to understand them. The lyrics are straightforward and leave no place for interpretation. By recommending this song, JK showed that he had (and probably still has) the same experiences in his life, and I think the reason he recommends or covers JB’s songs more than any other artist is that he has many things in common with him, and feels connected to his songs. 

This can lead us to another theory: By covering a Justin Bieber song, Jungkook shares something about himself with us, something that he can’t express directly.

Jungkook is interested in JB’s songs, but he is not the only one. As I said earlier in this post, Jimin shares the same taste with Jungkook, and my receipt is not just that “Anyone” or “Peaches” harmonizing moments, but also Jimin’s Spotify playlists. Since 2017 (or earlier, I’m not sure about this part) he has added some JB songs to his official playlist, and even his current playlist (July 2021) has two JB songs. And also let’s not forget the fact that Jikook as a subunit started in 2014 with a JB cover. Yes, I’m talking about “Mistletoe” and as you may know, Jimin translated the lyrics of this song to Korean. 

10000 Hours

Nearly 700 words and I haven’t started yet! The subject of this post was supposed to be the connections between “10000 hours” cover and Jikook but this prelude was necessary to clarify all the aspects of the topic and we find out how JB is special for JK and Jimin and how they (especially Jungkook) feel connected to him. Anyways, back to 10000 hours:

Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber released this Grammy winner song in October 2019. Here are the lyrics:

As you can see, the lyrics are 100% romantic, and the singers including JB, have dedicated this song to their lovers. Also, their girlfriends/wives have a cameo in the MV, which leaves no place for speculation for the context of the song: Even though the uncertainties always exist and no one knows about the future, our love is strong and will stay strong regardless of time. 

The Cover and the Theories

Nearly one year later, on July 28th, 2020, Jungkook surprised ARMYs with a short video he tweeted at 11:56 AM. That video was a 49 seconds cover of 10000 hours. A few minutes later, he deleted the tweet (apparently with the advertisement excuses, because it was tweeted from an iPhone and they have a contract with Samsung). Later that night, Jungkook released the full version on Sound Cloud and tweeted the link at 11:47 PM. 

Jikookers discovered numerous theories that day about the times of both tweets; if you add the digits of the time, the result is “13” for both tweets 1+1+4+7=13, 1+1+5+6=13, and as you already know “13” is Jikook’s magic number. Also, the first video he tweeted was 49 seconds and 4+9=13. But in my opinion, this theory is not strong. I know that numerology is very popular in Korean culture but still, all of this can be coincidences, but the other things I’m going to bring up are most likely not. 

28th July 2020 was the 7th anniversary of the first Jikook selca posted after debut. This also might be a coincidence and to be honest, it cannot be a strong link to make a connection with Jikook, but worths sharing. 

The next thing that many Jikookers also pointed out, was related to the title of the song. The lyrics say “10000 hours and 10000 more” and 20000 hours after the 28th of July is 8th November 2022. As you may know. Jikookers believe November 8th is a significant date for Jikook. I believe this can be a coincidence either, and it’s very unlikely of Jungkook to do such calculations (Koreans are interested in numbers when it comes to days and dates, but counting hours is not usual in any culture. Other than that, I’m still doubtful about the origins of the November 8th theory because we have nothing other than two tweets and G.C.F Tokyo release date and their hotel room in Tokyo which still can be coincidental). But I don’t deny these theories because even as a coincidence, it’s still very interesting. 

And the next theory is connected to the “Red Moon”. On 27th July 2018, a total lunar eclipse happened all over the world, which became known as the red moon. At that time, BTS were in Malta, and on the same night, Jikook were watching the red moon on a boat. They shared plenty of photos and videos of that moment and I’m sure as a Jikooker you have seen them all and you know that night had a very romantic mood (BigHit words, not mine) for Jikook. So, a second anniversary for that night and the day after that night can be a significant date to release a very romantic cover. Is this a coincidence too? I think we had many of them already.

And last but not least is something connected to Korean culture. You probably know that 1000 days anniversaries are very important for Koreans and they celebrate them along with real anniversaries of the important dates in their lives. And guess what? 27th July 2020 is 1000 days after 31 October 2017. This day is the day Jikook’s travel to Tokyo ended and they posted their couply mirror selca on Twitter with flower bouquet emoji. Despite the one-day difference (the same case for the red moon anniversary), this is not a minor event or small coincidence. I believe Jungkook posted “10000 hour” cover for this reason and based on this, the other theories I mentioned earlier can be true either. 

The lyrics hit different if you read them again, after knowing this fact. Right? I don’t want to make this post much longer but before wrapping up, I want to talk about the lyrics of “Anyone” by JB (the song Jikook were harmonizing in Lee Hyun’s Vlog):

If you read the lyrics, you will notice that the context is very similar to “10000 hours”. It talks about the uncertainties of a beautiful love or in other words: No matter what the future brings to us, this love will last forever. 

This context of uncertainty and unknown future for a romance is a common concept in many of the songs Jungkook has covered and it’s not limited to the Justin Bieber covers he has done and maybe this concept can be the topic for my next analysis.
