HYUNG LINE MAKNAE LINE
a/n: been wanting to do this for a long time now, hopefully y'all will like it <3 i don't really do reader x member stuff though, so this'll just either be member x member ships or no romance at all 😅
pairing: jihancheol, junhao, verkwan
genre: headcanons, fluff, crack, romance (kinda), angst (?), mafia
warnings: slight mentions of non-graphic violence, illegal stuff obviously
S.Coups
leader, for obvious reasons
hella protective over the guys, will kill for them
won't admit it, but also very soft for them
belonged to a family already involved with the mafia, knew the inner workings of an organisation like this since very young
unforgiving and unrelenting if he sets his mind on something, especially if that something is revenge
lost his parents to a rival mafia early on, was out for revenge when he stumbled across the members one by one, and that's how svt
came to be
did end up taking revenge, the rival gang doesn't exist anymore
helps in cleanup because muscles
worries about the others during missions but then tells himself that he's being stupid and everyone has had years of experience and there's no one he would rather trust
has known jeonghan and joshua since they were 14
is also very whipped for said men (and their puppy dog eyes)
ruthless, yes, but holds his member's opinions in high regards
often pretends he doesn't see the members going out of their way to take care of him after a rough day so they don't get embarrassed
once went MIA for a week
the group was in hysterics, there was chaos everywhere, some were worried, others were ready to kill, the mansion almost burned down at least 7 times, half of them were starving by the end of it because everyone was just so darn busy trying to find where he disappeared
jeonghan, jihoon and seungkwan almost lost their minds trying to bring order to the chaos (a near impossible task, let's be honest)
only for him to return later, very confused about the welcome he got (his members on top of him, most of them either already crying or on the verge of tears and a very angry jeonghan, seungcheol had never feared for his life more)
turns out he had left for a overseas meeting; it was sudden and he was urgently required in the middle of the night
in his defence, he had left a sticky note on the door of their bedroom, for maximum visibility, which no one had noticed somehow (you'd think they'd be good at this shit, being, y'know, mafia members)
he never let them live this down, but only after he made sure jeonghan and jihoon weren't going to murder him in his sleep
got scolded about forgetting his charger before going on the trip in retaliation (which is why he couldn't text or call them)
wonwoo threatened to replace his phone and give him a normal one instead of the non-traceable ones he made specially for the group
was reluctant at first, but warmed up to the idea of dating and is now in a poly relationship with jeonghan and joshua
Jeonghan
the seducer, again, for obvious reasons
looks like an angel and acts like one too, but only for the kids
can be really scary when he wants to be
the kids have a weird sense of respect for him and the way he gets shit done
can be surprisingly lazy
too good at mind games
knows how to crumble even the toughest person
has his fair share of bad days
needs cuddles all day long
will demand them like a baby
the members will then proceed to do some manly cuddling
ran away from home at the age of 13, but no one knows why, even his boyfriends
met seungcheol when he was 14 by chance in a convenience store, trying to swipe a loaf of bread under the cashier's nose while flirting with her
he gave him a place to stay and food to eat
that's when he knew he was in love
poor baby was very confused when he fell for joshua because he still definitely was in love with seungcheol
knows he is ethereal and uses the knowledge with the precision of a knife
low-key the mother of the groups, fusses over little things
also radiates chaotic gay energy 24/7
somehow even ropes the most responsible, calm members into doing some weird shit on a daily basis
has made it his personal mission to annoy the hell out of seungcheol and joshua
gets annoyed when it doesn't work and they just get fond instead
prefers knives and daggers over guns and has learned the art of swordfighting
has a hard time trusting someone new
got himself kidnapped in their early days
had gotten a little cocky at the consecutive successes they had been having and hadn't bothered to hide the knife properly
said knife stuck out like a sore thumb and a rival gang hadn't even waited long enough to let him get to where he was supposed to be before abducting him
was tortured with all kinds of punches and kicks
the torturer sadistically didn't hit his face
the group had to give a huge ransom for him
felt guilty for ages before vernon, surprisingly enough, slapped (literally) some sense into him
was so shocked he didn't even think about scolding the younger for hitting someone older than him
came to accept that mistakes happen
but is still careful on every mission now
Joshua
the 'undercover agent'
trained with jeonghan and jun
but works closely with seokmin and vernon
often infiltrates other gangs posing as a new recruit
a genius in disguises
can go from looking pretty to looking like a blotchy old man with a hump in no time and barely any special materials
loves posing as girls
flirts a lot as a girl
then renders his target unconscious to get the required information
because a lot of pervert gang leaders are actually stupid enough to take their one night stands to important places like their offices or bedrooms
if anyone was to ask him a memorable experience, he would tell them about the one time he had to switch disguises from an old bearded man to a pretty young lady
and how he forgot to take the beard off and had worn the bra the wrong way
he was supposed to be going for an interview for the secretary of the ceo
got a itch on his nose in the elevator and realised the beard was still on his face
was very glad that he was alone in the elevator
checked himself just in case and found he still had a flat chest
had to take off his blouse, put the bra back on properly
and then get dressed again, all in less than a minute
gave wonwoo hell because he hadn't warned him despite having eyes on every single camera in the building
only got a laugh in response
is weirdly obsessed with water
he and jeonghan make a pair to be reckoned with
poor seungcheol loses his mind on a daily basis with these two someone save him
gets homesick really easily
will spend ages talking with vernon in english when he feels so
a master ventroquelist
this unexpectedly has come in hand way too many times
his original dream was to be a preschool teacher
still questions how he ended up where he is on a near daily basis
doesn't regret it one bit though
a proper gentleman, but only when he isn't in the mood to do some crazy shit
which actually isn't that often
but god knows it's intense when it happens
obviously everything he ever plans he plans with jeonghan
and the target is always seungcheol
"the others don't lose their patience as quick as you, y'know, you're fun to tease"
*cue cheeky grin and getting chased by a mad cheol*
Jun
more of a lure than a seducer, but prefers the latter term
way too confident
but only in his face
gets adorably flustered if someone compliments him on anything other than his face
a goofy lil shit
everyone will collectively unanimously agree that he is the group's weirdo
he won't even try to deny it
had a hard childhood, was attention and touch starved
his family went bankrupt and the first thing they did was "kick out the liability"
was working a part time job secretly though and decided to change countries
that's how jihoon stumbled upon him, on the street
revels in attention
top class humour
loves to act all coy and pretty and damsel-in-distress on missions
says it attracts people easily
only to go all 'i-am-an-expert-martial-artist-fear-me' on them
except it's not quite as funny as it sounds
because he is trained in all sorts of traditional martial arts
of most east asian and south-east asian countries
half of whose names the other members can't even pronounce
often worries the others by preferring to go into missions without any weapons
says it helps in maintaining the cover
which it certainly does
and that he doesn't need any weapons anyway
"i am a weapon"
*grin*
(it's fine but only because it's jun 👀)
practises with minghao, who is not quite as trained as he is, but gets the job done
has insane stamina
once fought a small rival gang in hand to hand combat all by himself
flexible as fuck
makes too many dirty jokes about it
(must be the only idiot to actually make dirty jokes about himself smh 😔)
sleight of hand
master pickpocket
steals from the members just for the fun of it
they don't even blink an eye when they find something missing, will simply go to his room and find whatever they are looking for on his dresser
is also somehow very forgetful
a babie
Hoshi
the pyromaniac
prefers to be called the entertainer of the group though
had a weird penchant for fire when he started
once set fire to the headquarters of a small gang
really liked doing that
so they gave him asked him to work with seungkwan and chan
and make bombs and fire guns of all sorts
is also weirdly obsessed with tigers
(but don't we all know that already 😩)
one of the few members who uses an alias in the mafia world
has too much raging gemini energy
strangely intuitive when it comes to finding traitors
or the person responsible for committing whatever new atrocity svt is dealing with
hates wearing suits
but still enjoys how good and authoritative he looks in them
until he goes all crazy again
annoyingly loud
also annoyingly sweet
he and seokmin are sunshine in human form
almost has the same amount of weird energy as jun
they are the gemini twins after all
will either get on your nerves on a daily basis
or will convince you to help him get on someone else's nerves
very squishy
dramatic, but not in the drama queen way
just in the attention seeking way
doesn't really mean it, it just happens
is actually an introvert, but has a hard time believing it himself
most of everything he owns is tiger themed
even has a customised yellow gun with black stripes
they don't let him take it out though, so just uses it for practise in the headquarters
can and will steal the member's clothes and accessories
and will proceed to tease them about it
he doesn't know, but everyone is very fond (read:whipped) for him
even the younger members
because god knows he acts more like a maknae than the real maknae
has a fourth degree taekwondo black belt
also helps in cleanup
a surprising amount of things need burning after fights
can withstand a high amount of heat because of how used he is to it
another babie
Wonwoo
the tech guy
or as ned would say, the guy in the chair (im sorry i had to 🙈)
smarter then he looks
which is saying something because he already does look smart
nimble and quick fingers
has glasses, goes kinda blind without them
was a streamer before he joined
hence the affection to computers
still games, but doesn't stream anymore
a master at puzzles
works with chan for new projects, the younger is good at assembly while he handles the programming and electric part of everything
svt only ever uses the cctv cameras made by him
so they're never compromised
seldom joins the others for field work
becomes the guys' eyes and ears for most missions
one of the best hackers out there
also one of the quickest
the guys had a special basement made just for him
just in case someone manages to enter the headquarters
has a tinier but just as strong basement under his house too
for emergencies
only the 13 of them even know where to get to the basement (in the headquarters)
and he is the only one who knows the passcode required to enter
the room is absolutely filled with all things computer
was one of the first people to meet seungcheol and jihoon
they also forced him to learn hapkido when they met him
is a black belt now
practises with jun and minghao weekly
usually quite and reserved
his crazy side comes out rarely
but when it does, it comes in full force
his parents still think he works for an IT firm
said firm is actually a legitimate cover to the shady ongoings in svt
so he never really has troubles coming up with realistic stories
does help the employees there though
has his name stated in the official employees list
the other members either haven't noticed or don't care
because he probably hacked into the website to put his name there
an easy task considering he was the one who made it in the first place
once ate some dish with crab while giving instructions during a mission
threw up all over his brand new computer
demanded to know who ordered it
turns out it was him who accidentally clicked on the wrong dish while ordering
was sheepish
but still threw out the computer
Woozi
sub leader
seungcheol's right hand man
and his left hand man
and a lot more
is the entire group's reality check
enjoys more authority over the members than seungcheol does
but that's because they can't bully him like they do with seungcheol (some save him pt. ∞)
does a lot of jobs in the group
mainly helps in cleanup
also does the recruiting
made the entrance tests for people looking to join
designed them himself
while cheol decides what to do, he decides how to do it
did i mention he's actually cheol's cousin?
a very distant cousin
but a cousin nonetheless
his family had also always been involved in the mafia world
he ran away from home though
said it was too toxic
even for a literal criminal gang
still wanted to work in a mafia though
him and cheol had been close when they were younger
got to know about how the elder was planning to take revenge for his parents
was the one to convince him to actually form a proper gang before doing anything stupid
said he'd help
refused to be the leader
but agreed to have a position of importance
unnervingly good at predicting stuff
...all sorts of stuff
can usually tell the weather of the entire day early in the morning
but more often than not acts as a warning system to the guys on field
which is the entire reason he even accompanies them
they once went near an abandoned river to search for something
said they would find something even more precious
they found a small pouch filled with black opals
is the personification of 'i might be small but you're all still beneath me'
(i am inclined to agree ✊🏻)
actually a lil cutie though
not anywhere near as cold as he seems
might wanna read:

summary: jeonghan met seungcheol in a library and slowly fell for him, what he didn’t expect was for seungcheol to already be with somebody.
and what he definitely didn’t expect was to fall for seungcheol’s boyfriend too.
pairing: jihancheol
genre/au: fluff, angst (smut to come) + uni au
words: 756
a/n ; something to hold you guys off bc i promised to upload the entire fic yesterday but i’m still struggling so i hope you guys like this!
[full version here]
Seungcheol's hand is running a steady trail up Jeonghan's thigh.
The tv is quickly losing against Seungcheol for Jeonghan's attention and honestly, Jeonghan doesn't have a clue about how much he can take anymore.
It doesn't help that they aren't the only ones here on the couch and it seriously doesn't help that the only other person here with them is Seungcheol's boyfriend.
Seungcheol's going to be the death of him.
When Jeonghan first met Seungcheol, it was in the university's library.
It was like every cliche scene in every chick flick his younger sister had made him watch when they were in middle school. The girl is reaching for a book when the boy grabs the book she wanted and wags it in her face as bait to talk to him. The girl pretends to be unimpressed while squealing on the inside about how hot the boy is. The boy is cocky and arrogant and is always later revealed to have a hidden tattoo that no one knows about and Jeonghan literally hated his life in the moment that Choi Seungcheol swiped the book Jeonghan needed for a presentation right from underneath his nose.
Seungcheol had leered him, looking him up and down and Jeonghan had the fight the urge to smooth his long hair back. He definitely hadn't looked his best on that day, but Seungcheol had flirted with him anyway and Jeonghan had merely rolled his eyes. He turned on his heel and retreated to his table then, groaning quietly under his breath when Seungcheol followed after him, even going as far as taking a seat at his table.
Jeonghan had then drowned himself in his project, glaring across the table when Seungcheol used the book he had needed as a fan instead of actually reading it. When Seungcheol noticed his glare, he winked at him and Jeonghan had flushed all the way to the tips of his ears in embarrassment. He'd forced himself to ignore Seungcheol then and declined all his offers of going on a date with him.
But Seungcheol had persisted until the very end and by the time he finally left, the library was closing. Jeonghan had sat back in his chair and rubbed his eyes, tired and worn out more than usual and then blinked when he noticed the book he had needed earlier sitting on top of his backpack on the table. Jeonghan had gathered his things and checked out the book, not expecting to find a scrap of paper with Seungcheol's name and number fall out later when he was flipping through its pages that night in bed.
Jeonghan still doesn't know what made him text Seungcheol, but he doesn't regret it.
At least, not all the time.
Jeonghan watches as Seungcheol rolls his sleeves up, his hands finally having left his thigh. He lets himself take a deep breath, his face flushed and the buzz from the television lost on him.
He doesn't know what he's doing here. Honestly, he can't remember why he even bothered to show up tonight. But then he looks down and his gaze immediately lands on Seungcheol's arms. His breath catches in his throat as it always does and Seungcheol looks up with a smirk on his face as he studies Jeonghan's dazed expression.
The tattoos that decorate them are just as breathtaking as the first time Jeonghan saw them and as Seungcheol continues to roll his sleeve up, Jeonghan is thrown into the memory of when he first caught a glimpse of them.
Jeonghan isn't one for being at a loss for words. He's well-spoken and nags the kids often, but he's never had a problem trying to form coherent sentences.
But honestly, could anybody blame him when he's face-to-face with the Choi Seungcheol?
Or to be more specific, face-to-face with Choi Seungcheol's tattoos. Tattoos he had no idea even existed until this very moment.
They're flowers, mostly unfilled, but a few are splattered to look like they were watercolored into Seungcheol's skin. They cover the expanse of both of his arms and Jeonghan might already be in love with them as much as he's in love with Seungcheol really.
But that's the problem. Jeonghan doesn't know how Seungcheol feels or even if he's gay or not. And so he pines.
He pines hard and he pines hopelessly.
Junhui has made fun of him for it often enough that Jeonghan doesn't even blink an eye by this point whenever it's brought up at their table in the cafeteria.

whispering (i love you)
pairing: jihancheol genre: smut, angst, fluff, uni au, rated e warnings: explicit sexual content, dom/sub, aftercare, implied child abuse, implied sexual assault, mentions of violence words: 3377
summary: They’ve been whispering behind his back for a month now and Jeonghan doesn’t like the look in Seungcheol’s eyes.
⇢ day four of 31 days of halloween
“Okay, spill.”
Seungcheol opens his eyes, completely fucked out of his mind as he continues to swivel his hips. Jeonghan’s grip tightens on Seungcheol’s waist when he realizes that the elder is completely immersed in subspace.
His eyes are glassy, sweat dribbling down his face as he continues to move. Jeonghan feels his brow come together in concern.
“Cheol.”
No answer.
Jeonghan sits up and Seungcheol whines, not liking that he’d been stopped. But Jeonghan is anything if persistent.
He grabs the elder’s chin, forcing Seungcheol to look him in the face. The headboard is uncomfortable behind him, but Jeonghan considers that nothing if Seungcheol has slipped deep into subspace.
“Color?”
Seungcheol whines and bites his lip, eyes focusing on nothing. Jeonghan quickly settles Seungcheol on his thighs instead of his dick. They’re both painfully erect, but Jeonghan doesn’t want to do anything when the elder can’t consent to it.
“Cheol. Hey, what’s your color?”
“...yellow.”
Jeonghan curls around the elder, laying them flat on the mattress now. Seungcheol gasps a little, maybe a bit breathless, Jeonghan can’t tell.
He cards his fingers through the elder’s hair, pressing kisses into his skin, smiling to himself when Seungcheol begins to giggle.
Seungcheol’s cock brushes against Jeonghan’s thigh and he yelps, wanting to move his hips desperately. Jeonghan kisses his nose, the crease between his brows, the corner of his mouth before he nods and smiles at Seungcheol.
“Go ahead. You can do whatever you want to, baby,” Jeonghan whispers between them.
Seungcheol sighs gratefully and gyrates his hips. Jeonghan runs the fingers of one hand through Seungcheol’s dark hair while using the other to collect the beads of pre-come spilling from the head of Seungcheol’s dick and slicks it down the shaft, making the slide easier. Seungcheol’s hips kick pitifully, another whine caught in his throat and Jeonghan kisses him tenderly.
His idea of dishing information out of Seungcheol while they fucked has now flown right out the window. Jeonghan can’t really do anything but take care of the elder when he’s in this state. Getting information out of him right now would be cruel.
Plus, Seungcheol looks very cute right now.
The elder whimpers, bucking his hips frantically as he rubs his cock against Jeonghan’s thigh. There’s more of Seungcheol’s precome mixed into the mess forming on Jeonghan’s thigh and Jeonghan is strangely turned on even more by that fact.
"What a good boy," Jeonghan murmurs.
Seungcheol keens and kisses Jeonghan's chin, stumbling through his movements enough to make Jeonghan laugh quietly. Jeonghan presses open-mouthed kisses to Seungcheol's jaw and throat, groaning when Seungcheol does and burying his face into Seungcheol's sweaty hair on occasion. The elder continues to hump Jeonghan's thigh, eyes closed and jaw slacked in pleasure.
Maybe the paddle had been a bit too much for tonight, Jeonghan thinks, he'll have to throw it into their "later or never" pile now. Or maybe Jisoo can throw it there later if he comes home from work early. Jeonghan doesn't know, either way, they won't be using the paddle again for a very long time.
Seungcheol's breath hitches as his thighs begin to shake and Jeonghan takes it upon himself to stroke the elder. His hips have stilled now, legs trembling as Jeonghan helps him fall into his orgasm.
And fall he does, but Jeonghan is there to catch him and put him back together.
Seungcheol releases himself over Jeonghan's fist and watches as his come dribbles down to stain the milky skin of Jeonghan's thigh. Jeonghan kisses him once he's done, being careful not to touch Seungcheol with his come-covered hand.
Jeonghan holds Seungcheol for awhile then, humming to calm the elder and waits as he rises out of his headspace. He plans to get them both in the shower once Seungcheol can stand, but Jisoo arrives before then, staring at the paddle on the corner of the bed and the bright red of Seungcheol's ass pressed against Jeonghan's crotch.
"Yellow?" Jisoo mouths.
Jeonghan nods and almost laughs at the way the boy rolls his eyes before grabbing the paddle and disappearing into their closet. He emerges a few seconds later, paddle-less and climbs into bed, wrapping an arm underneath Seungcheol's torso. Jeonghan helps him heave the elder up and out bed, one of his arms thrown over both of their shoulders.
They make it to the shower with no incident and Jisoo strips out of his clothes before helping Jeonghan clean up Seungcheol. Seungcheol slumps between them, mumbling something that Jeonghan can't make out, but it looks like Jisoo can. His expression goes from concentrated to alarmed to anxious then forcibly calm when he realizes that Jeonghan is staring at them.
Lately, it seems like Jeonghan has been staring a lot.
He doesn't know what's going on, but it feels like Seungcheol and Jisoo are keeping something from him and he doesn't like it one bit.
"Okay, spill."
Jisoo hums something, ignoring Jeonghan. Jeonghan groans and follows after him, mindlessly wiping down the counter as he does.
"Shua," Jeonghan tries again.
But Jisoo continues to ignore him.
A new customer comes up to the register and Jeonghan plasters on his fakest smile before approaching and taking their order. Work drags on after that and despite the handjobs they give each other in the break closet when it's really slow, Jeonghan still feels that he gained nothing new from today.
When they get home and Seungcheol is in the kitchen unwrapping some takeout he ordered, Jeonghan's usual order is waiting on the counter along with his favorite side of fried rice to go with it. Seungcheol preens under the kisses Jeonghan and Jisoo give him to convey their thanks.
Jeonghan eats unbothered, watching the way Jisoo and Seungcheol exchange glances when they think he isn't looking. It's been going on for a month now and Jeonghan has had about enough of it by this point.
Still, he watches them.
He notices that there's less food on Seungcheol's plate this time and Jeonghan frowns, dropping a piece of chicken on the elder's plate at the same time that Jisoo does. They look up to meet one another's eye and grin, but then Jisoo's gaze flickers upward towards Seungcheol and Jeonghan looks away, a sour feeling rising from his stomach.
He manages to get through the rest of dinner before throwing himself across the couch and opens up Seungcheol's laptop to finish the essay he was working on earlier. Seungcheol and Jisoo continue to whisper at the counter, turned in their seats towards one another, knees bumping together occasionally. Jeonghan ignores it, focusing on his paper and drowns out the little giggle Seungcheol makes when Jisoo tries to hand feed him the rest of his dinner.
Seungcheol looks skinnier now that Jeonghan has been paying attention and he really doesn't like it. Seungcheol is fit and muscular, sure, but skinny he is not. He'll have to ask if the elder is trying out some ridiculous new diet or not.
Eventually, the two finish and wash up, throwing away the trash and stowing the bags their food came in to recycle for other things (usually their bathroom trash bin). Seungcheol traipses into the living room once they're done, two water bottles in hand.
He settles himself on the floor and leans back against the couch before holding up a water bottle for Jeonghan to take.
"Thanks," Jeonghan mutters, distracted with his paper.
Seungcheol smiles, that dopey cute smile of his that Jeonghan has never been able to say no to. "No prob, babe. Mind if I watch some Netflix?"
Jeonghan sighs and sits up, leaving enough room for Jisoo to slip underneath his feet and settle into the opposite side of the couch with Jeonghan's socked feet in his lap. "No. Go ahead, baby."
The elder's cheeks flush at the endearment, but he turns back to the tv anyway and puts on a show about aliens and how governments all over the world are trying to cover up any and all connections we have with them. Despite the fact that Jeonghan's paper is due in two days, he finds himself paying rapt attention to the tv, even tucking his feet in and making room for Seungcheol on the couch once they've gotten two episodes into the season.
Jisoo keeps complaining about how fake and fabricated all the "evidence" is, but Seungcheol silences him with a kiss that then turns into a steamy makeout session and Jeonghan averts his eyes, strangely feeling as if he's encroaching on something not meant for him to see.
It's weird and Jeonghan doesn't know why he's feeling this way, but maybe he does.
The signs are all there after all. The whispering, the shared glances, the panicked expressions when they know Jeonghan is in earshot. The quiet little moments they share that Jeonghan doesn't want to interrupt.
Maybe his time is really up with these two. For good this time.
And while it hurts to think it, he's at least happy that they'll still have each other.
He wonders how much time they'll give him to move out. He also wonders if he should quit his crappy job and try being a nanny or something instead since he doesn't really think he'd like to continue being Jisoo's coworker after it's all said and done. At least, not for a while anyway.
Either way, Jeonghan knows what's going to happen next when Seungcheol pauses the fifth episode and both he and Jisoo turn to face Jeonghan.
Seungcheol takes his laptop and makes sure that Jeonghan's paper is saved before he closes the lid and puts it on the coffee table. Jeonghan watches him do it, feeling kind of numb. Jisoo takes his hand and rubs a thumb over his knuckles, that sly smile of his offered up for Jeonghan to take.
Something in Jeonghan breaks when Seungcheol turns back to face them, a serious look in his eyes. The same look he had when Seokmin knocked on their door last year with no money, no clothes, a ripped shirt, the zipper on his pants broken, and bruises on his face and chest saying he couldn't go back home. Jeonghan starts to sweat when the look doesn't waver.
The same look Seungcheol had worn when Jihoon had a mental breakdown, broke most of the things in his dorm and almost dropped out of college until Seungcheol kicked down his door and wouldn't let anybody else in until Jihoon was crying into his chest and Seungcheol was rocking him to sleep.
A sense of dread falls down upon Jeonghan when Seungcheol's gaze flickers to meet Jisoo's before pinning Jeonghan to the couch again.
It's the exact same look Seungcheol had when Wonwoo got into a car accident a few months ago and they'd all panicked, thinking that he'd died on the spot. Thankfully, he hadn't, but the scar that runs down from the top of his ribcage to his mid-thigh is still pink and puckery and Wonwoo only ever lets Junhui touch it. And that's only sometimes.
Whatever the two are going to say to him, Jeonghan is sure he isn't going to like it.
"Cheonsa."
Jisoo speaks up first, his tone careful and measured and Jeonghan hates how his breath catches in his throat as he waits for the blow.
"There's something Cheol and I need to talk to you about."
Jeonghan's gaze flickers between the two, an unknown emotion clogging his throat that's keeping him from speaking. But he needs to speak. He needs to before they break his heart for good this time.
If Jeonghan we're being realistic, he probably should've seen this coming.
They've had fights and argued many times before and broken up four times, but they've always crawled back to one another, crying and helpless and honestly, really pathetic looking, but it's how they've coped. Jisoo and Seungcheol are gentle with Jeonghan, knowing when to push and when to not and they know not to let their hands wander near his backside after what happened two years ago. Jeonghan still feels like he's in recovery and he knows that it puts a damper on a lot of things between them, but it's never felt that way for Seungcheol and Jisoo who've always been willing to cater to his needs. They've always been very understanding and when Seungcheol went and paid him a visit with Soonyoung, Mingyu and Minghao backing him up, Jeonghan had felt that his past had finally been laid to rest.
Still, Jisoo fights and argues with everything he has just to prove that he's right, even when he's dead wrong because he's petty and Jeonghan is just as petty, if not more. Seungcheol plays peacemaker most of the time, but his patience usually wears beyond thin and when he's angry, Jisoo and Jeonghan know better than to bother him with their petty arguments.
They tiptoe around each other a lot and it probably isn't very healthy for any of them, but they are getting better. They fight less often, they take care of one another and they know not to push so much.
They even go to counseling, updating each other about their progress and celebrating any victories, big or small.
They're getting better.
So maybe that's why Jeonghan bursts into tears when Seungcheol clears his throat and prepares to speak.
"Hey." Seungcheol's voice is soft and low and Jeonghan clings to him, not wanting to let go. "Hey, sh. It's okay. We're sorry."
Jisoo cards his fingers through Jeonghan's long, long hair, twisting the ends of it around his fingertips in the way that he knows Jeonghan likes. "Cheonsa, hey. Why are you crying? We didn't even get to speak yet."
Jeonghan shakes his head and then buries it into Seungcheol's chest, letting the two of them pet and hold him. Murmuring quiet assurances into his hair, his skin, his very being. But the tears dry up fast and Jeonghan is left with a soggy t-shirt pressed up against his face and two pairs of hands trailing over his skin as if he's the only map they've ever known.
"I'm sorry," Jeonghan croaks, his voice muffled, but he knows that the two can hear him. "I'll have my things out by next week. Is that okay?"
There's a deadly silence lingering in the air now. Tension thick enough to cut with a knife and Jeonghan gulps, pulling himself out of Seungcheol's arms and putting distance between them.
"What?" It's Seungcheol who decides to break the silence.
Jeonghan shrugs. "You're breaking up with me again, aren't you?"
Jisoo and Seungcheol exchange looks of confusion and Jeonghan lets himself breathe a little.
"No. Where did you get that from?" Jisoo asks.
Jeonghan shrugs again, not willing to speak anymore. Jisoo sighs and draws closer, neatly folding Jeonghan into his lap and Jeonghan goes willingly, breathing easier when Seungcheol's hand slides up his shirt and comes to rest on the small on his back. Jisoo presses a kiss to the top of Jeonghan's head, smiling when Seungcheol leans in to do the very same.
Then the elder's lips are trailing downwards and he's pressing insistently against Jeonghan. Seungcheol's other hand now slips underneath Jisoo's shirt and trails up his spine, pausing only when he reaches Jisoo's shoulder blades. Jeonghan is too lost in kissing Seungcheol to really know what else is going on, but eventually, they stop kissing and Seungcheol smiles, as reassuring and strong as ever and much too soft for Jeonghan to ever think he was going to break up with him.
Jisoo is there then, pressing kisses to the corner of Jeonghan's mouth before pulling back and pushing Jeonghan's hair behind his ear.
"That wasn't why we wanted to talk to you," Jisoo says then, bringing Jeonghan back to the situation at hand.
"Then what was it?" He asks, because what else could he say? You two have been whispering behind my back and excluding me and I really thought this was goodbye for good? I'm so sorry?
"My parents are coming to visit. They want to stay with me for a week," Jisoo says.
Jeonghan feels the breath being knocked out of him. "What?"
Seungcheol grips Jeonghan's chin and forces them to see eye-to-eye. "I got the internship with the biology department, but I have to move to Germany for six months to complete it. I'm gonna do it."
A double whammy then.
"What?" Jeonghan doesn't know how he's able to speak without air. "How long?"
Jisoo bites his lips and holds up two fingers. "Two weeks for me. Um, after winter break for Cheol."
Seungcheol leans in and bumps his nose against Jeonghan's, making the long haired man draw in a deep breath. "Okay?"
"Okay."
"That's it?" Jisoo asks.
Jeonghan takes in another breath. "Yeah. That's it."
"Wow," Jisoo mouths, and thenー "Wait, did you really think we were going to break up with you?"
Jeonghan nods, eyes closed now as he takes another steady breath. Seungcheol pecks him on the lips and lets go of his face, pushing his hands back up his boyfriends' shirts.
"Would never break up with you, Cheonsa. Love you too much," Seungcheol says, pushing his face into Jeonghan's neck.
Jisoo laughs and then sighs, completely perplexed. "I really thought we'd have another fight about this."
Jeonghan shrugs and lets Seungcheol suck a hickey into his skin. "Nah. This is nothing compared to what I thought. And I love you too, Cheollie. You too, Shua."
"You're such an ass," Jisoo laments. "But I love you, the both of you. That's why I told my parents they could visit. I don't care what they think anymore."
"Well, well, well," Jeonghan smirks. "Look at our big boy all grown up now, Cheollie."
Seungcheol laughs, but says nothing, merely reaching up to trail his nose up and down Jisoo's throat now.
"Shut up, Hannie. I can't believe you thought we were gonna break up with you. As if."
"Then what was up with all the whispering and secret meetings? You know I saw you two at the coffee shop last week all huddled up and hunched over a notebook or something, writing stuff down and giggling like fools."
Jisoo bites his lip and exchanges a look with Seungcheol. Jeonghan snaps his fingers and points at them.
"That! That right there is what I'm talking about," Jeonghan exclaims.
Seungcheol laughs. "May as well tell him, Shua. You know I suck at keeping secrets."
Jisoo rolls his eyes and laughs as well. "Yeah, I know. I'm surprised you lasted this long. Good for you, baby. You set a new record."
Seungcheol blushes and smiles, pressing his face into Jisoo's neck again. Jisoo grins and sticks his tongue out at Jeonghan.
"If you really need to know, we were planning your birthday party which was supposed to be a surprise, but you're such a brat that you thought we were going to break up with you."
Jeonghan laughs now, beyond relieved. "Shut up and love me."
"Already do, Cheonsa," Jisoo replies, his mild irritation gone now.
Seungcheol emerges from Jisoo's neck to tangle his fingers into Jeonghan's hair and kisses him fiercely. "I love you too, Jeonghan. Love you lots. Now get me out of these damn pants. I've had a boner for the last hour."
Jeonghan laughs. "Aliens is what does it for you now?"
Jisoo presses a kiss to Seungcheol's collarbones, grinning with intent. "Well, I guess I know what our next roleplay scene will be."
Seungcheol blushes and ignores any more comments about aliens for the rest of the night, but when Jisoo is pushing his hips into Seungcheol with Jeonghan pressing into Jisoo in turn, he might or might not have called one of them his alien baby.
Jeonghan says it's weird but continues to fuck into Jisoo anyway.
For the time being, they're okay.
("We still need to talk about you moving to Germany, alien boy!" Jeonghan kicks at Seungcheol's thigh later when they're in bed, fucked out and blissed out.
"Don't call me that," Seungcheol whines.
Jisoo laughs and joins in when Jeonghan begins to yell "alien boy" at the top of his lungs.)
They're gonna be just fine.

My favorite Seventeen ship fics on Ao3; Part 1.
Be warned I read a LOT of smut so if that makes you uncomfortable and isn't your cup of tea, just skip the scenes. STILL SUPPORT THE AUTHORS THEY WORKED HARD ON THE FANFICS.
(See here for the most common tropes in these ships)
Also a disclaimer, I as a reader, does not take any of these to heart nor do I apply them to real life and judge the boys whether or not they do anything done in these stories. It is merely fanfiction.
Soonhoon
1. Adventures of Cat and Kitten by SunAndMoon (LadyMorgaine)
Hybrid AU, A/B/O
Top Soonyoung/Bottom Jihoon
Side Verkwan, Jihancheol, Junhao, other ships to be added.
Alpha Tiger Hoshi, Omega Cat Jihoon
Series
There are two books, the first one mainly focuses on Soonhoon but the other one explores the other ships more
Jihoon is a sassy bottom but very needy
Soonyoung is a dominating top but also complies to Jihoons wishes of course
Soonyoung calls him kitten Yasss
They are literally a power couple
Very kinky
The first book is geared a lot towards the sexy times
The second book has been 70% dialogue and storyline
Fluff, smut, romance, angst
Overall very tasty 9/10
2. Vampires Before Christmas by SunAndMoon (LadyMorgaine)
Vampire AU
Top Soonyoung/Bottom Jihoon
Side Verkwan, Jeongcheol, Meanie, Junhao, Seoksoo
Series
There are 4 books ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Soonyoung is a hottie
He covers all Wattpad book bad boy love interest bases
Mysterious? Check. Jihoon met him in the rain, no idea what he does for work or where he goes when he's gone.
Rich? Check. Comes from old money he says. Owns at leasts two countries probably.
Caring? Check. Nursed Jihoon back to health when he was sick and continued doing so even when he wasn't.
Hottie? Check. The most attractive man out there, Jihoon the lucky bastard.
An otherwordly being? UM HE IS LITERALLY A FREAKING VAMPIRE??? HELLO???
Soonyoung was the embodiment of your wildest dreams like even though Jihoon was actually on the brink of death, like my man fucking touched god, he was still horny when he got close to Soonyoung and kept smelling him like he was ambrosia or something. Then he had a wet dream about him. Understandable.
VERY cute story. Soonyoung got like the biggest dick out there too.
Smut, Romance, Fluff, Angst
19/10 read it time and time again.
3. All eyes on you by aquariusblues
Dance school AU
Top Jihoon/Bottom Soonyoung
Slowwwwww burnnnn
It was maddening how in denial Jihoon was
His perseverance is something to be admired
Soonyoung is the new kid thats friends with everyone
They both keep burning themselves out like please take a fucking break
Wow is that miscommunication I hear? Oh it definitely is, and there is so much of it
This book makes you wanna pull your hair and not in a kinky way
I actually cried when they finally got together
There isn't much smut in here
EVERYONE IS YELLING AT JIHOON TO ADMIT HIS FEELINGS
The rest of the members are barely there
Mostly monologues
Lots of self deprecation and self acceptance
Its beautiful in a sense
But I wanted to throw my phone
This story haunts me at night
Angst, Fluff?, brief smut
7/10 Reccomend this to a friend–so you both can revel in your frustrations
4. No strings attached by aquariusblues
After College AU????
They have their own jobs and everyone is doing their own things?? What do I put here
Switch SoonHoon
Minor Verkwan, Meanie
Soonyoung is Seungkwans cousin
Jihoon is Seungkwans boss/friend
So thats how they got together
Awkward? Seungkwan offered okay its fine
They wanted a friends with benefits thing
But they've been sleeping exclusively with each other
So thats a problem
Or so they think
Soonhoon never want to admit their feelings
They just can't feelings with each other
THIS AUTHOR JUST CAN'T FEELINGS WITH SOONHOON
Emotions are hard
ALSO VERKWAN IS GETTING MARRIED
It was a brief scene but good for Vernon being able to put a ring on it
SEE SOONHOON COMMUNICATION IS KEY GUYS
THATS RELATIONSHIP 101
But their dynamic was adorable
Romance, smut, fluff
8/10 spaced out and remembered it again
5. Code Red by just_a_pinwheel
Police AU, A/B/O
Top Soonyoung/Bottom Jihoon
Alpha Soonyoung, Omega Jihoon
Side Jeongcheol, Meanie, Verkwan, Junhao
Jihoon hates Soonyoung
Then Soonyoung becomes his boss
AND HIS NEIGHBOUR HAHAHAH
Oopsiesss
They both loveee work
Like proper workaholics
Lots of pushing and pulling
They broke up in the middle of it
I wanted to scream
Heats and mating
Of course its ABO
I have never wanted to slap Jihoon so much
Lots of crying and denial of feelings
"Its for the best" NO ITS NOT DON'T BREAK UP
Sorry I'm bitter
They are literally surrounded by the healthiest couples they just can't deal
Soonyoung is just tired
Romance, smut, fluff, angst, violence, gore???
Its a police au so theres gonna be blood
8/10 when will their torture end???
6. Mask Kingdom by just_a_pinwheel
Mob AU
Top Soonyoung/Bottom Jihoon
Side Jeongcheol, Meanie
Both of them are crime bosses its actually really hot
Soonyoung is a BIG flirt
The first time they formally met, Jihoon gave him a blowjob LOL
Soonyoung calls him princess yes please
Jihoon still can't feelings
Im sensing a pattern here
But he comes around pretty fast don't worry uwu
There was one chapter where Soonyoung got REAL jealous and they had some rough sex lol
He BRIEFLY called him oppa during it
Its chapter 21 I gotchu fam
Jeonghan was a bitch for a while BUT THERES A REASON OKAY THATS NOT JUST HIS PERSONALITY
Jihoon is a little twat but I can say that about every fanfiction of him so go figure
SMUT, ANGST, barely there fluff, romance
6/10? Its kinda bland
7. What we were promised by Mistehri
Mafia AU, A/B/O
Top Soonyoung/Bottom Jihoon
Alpha Soonyoung, Omega Jihoon
Side Jihancheol, Meanie, Junhao, Verkwan
Heats and Mating
BTS and Ateez are there too
Yoongi and Jimin are together, I don't know why i felt the need to say that
Yoongi is Jihoons cousin
He's kinda an ass to Soonyoung
Cause he broke up with Jihoon
THERES A REASON OKAY DON'T WORRY
And they both pretended to hate each other after that
Before they got back together theres little snippets of their relationship
Its really heart breaking idk how I could stand reading it
BUT ITS REAL SWEET WHEN THEY GOT BACK TOGETHER
Also there was one scene in chapter 28 when Namjoon mentioned mates where he glanced at Seokjin
Idk maybe I'm gonna attract more armys if I mention them
If you're there for Ateez, they are literally so brief
I think they mentioned Monsta X too at some point maybe
Like I wanted to scream at the both of them
WHY ARE THEY BOTH SO IN DENIAL
FRUSTRATION WITH MANY FEELINGS
But also
YOU CAN'T DIE YOU'RE THE MAIN CHARACTER
Not to say I'm okay with the others dying as well
JUST KILL OFF AN OC OR SOMETHING I MAY NOT STAN BTS THAT DOESN'T MEAN I'M OKAY IF YOU KILL THEM OFF
Graphic depictions of violence
But they're kinda brief
Angst, smut, fluff, romance
12/10 I would very much reccomend
JUST FEELINGS JIHOON YOU CAN DO IT ITS NOT THAT HARD
Also I love bottom Jihoon. Something about someone who carries so much power and authority, just to be a completely helpless submissive at the hands of Soonyoung of all people is just something to be desired.

timeless
Pairing(s): Jaeyong, Johnten, Jihancheol
Genre: Slight angst, fluff
Word Count: 2900+
Warnings: None
Author Note: as usual, this is unbetaed because we die like men dflkghd uhhh if you see any mistakes or weird tenses, please let me know!
and just like chewing gum (or rather, ring pops) this is a prequel to show jaeyong's backstory for of chaos and calamities, but you can read it as a standalone story as well!
"i can’t do this anymore. this-this hiding thing, not being able to tell my friends that i’m completely, utterly, irrevocably in love with you” the words kept running circles in taeyong’s head, long after his best friend and lover had walked away. now, he could only hope that he could run fast enough in the future to catch him again.
°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°
if anyone had asked what jaehyun’s plans were for the day, he surely wouldn’t have said “oh, nothing much, just studying biology alone with my ex because the rest of our group ditched us”. no, if it were up to him, he would be laying in bed watching reruns of his favorite show, or at the gym. he was skipping leg day to watch his ex pour a red bull into his already overly caffeinated drink and -- wait, what?
jaehyun snapped back to the present just in time to hear the splash of the canned drink as it was poured into his iced coffee. with eyes round like saucers, jaehyun reached forward and grabbed at taeyong’s wrist, but not before the last dregs of the drink were spilled into his cup. for a moment, the two of them stared at each other and tried to ignore the energy pulsing between them. without a second thought, jaehyun withdrew his hand and watched as taeyong nonchalantly stirred the mixture, taking a sip, before chugging the whole thing down in one go.
now, jaehyun had known taeyong since their freshman year. he had never seen him chug a cup of coffee or an energy drink that fast, nonetheless the two together. he pushed the thought aside as he instead focused on his notes, forcing himself off the thought that he didn't know taeyong like that anymore.
they worked in near silence for a bit, going over their previously done work together with small comments here and there, correcting the form of a sentence or where a formula was written wrong. it took a while for the amount of caffeine to hit taeyong, and jaehyun paused for a second when he saw the other's hands beginning to shake. without saying a word, he got up and went to the counter, ordering taeyong’s favorite muffin, a banana, and a bottle of water. he hoped that the combination would help ease the way taeyong’s hands were shaking, and was mildly pleased with the look of surprise on taeyong’s face when he set the full plate on the table in front of him, directly over the notes that he was looking over.
without a word said, jaehyun pulled their shared notes over to him, as well as the textbook that lay sideways between the two of them. he began to check over his notes, and then eventually pulled taeyong’s towards him as well, adding and taking out information wherever necessary as taeyong finished off the food and drink.
by the time they left, there was a full set of notes for them to copy and print for the rest of their group, and they left one another in silence as they headed home. taeyong’s phone felt heavy with jaehyun’s number in it once more, along with the knowledge that it was saved under “jung jaehyun”, and not under one of the many nicknames that taeyong once had for him.
--
“you can’t just ignore it, jae.” johnny was the voice of reason a week later, sitting alongside yuta, who were two of jaehyun’s closest friends. “you have to tell him eventually.” jaehyun snorted, shoveling another mouthful of whatever slop lined his tray - meatloaf? pasta? the world may never know. he sure as hell didn’t. with one last glance across the cafeteria at the table where taeyong sat surrounded by his friends - their old friends - he smiled wistfully at johnny. “if only it was that easy, john. he wouldn’t listen to me anymore.” johnny and yuta shared a look, before returning to their lunches, gears already turning away in their minds. jaehyun pretended that he didn’t glance up at taeyong every once in a while, acting as if he was scrolling through social media instead.
he couldn’t deny, however, the shiver that wracked his body when taeyong glanced back at him, with a strange look in his eyes that jaehyun couldn’t decipher.
--
across the canteen from jaehyun, taeyong was settled in between some of the members of his friend group. jonghyun (who insisted that they call him jr to set him apart from the other jonghyun’s in their school) sat to his left, with seungcheol to his right, followed immediately after by his two boyfriends, jeonghan and joshua. they were the only five there at the moment, leaving nearly half of the table empty. after receiving a text that the others wouldn’t be coming for lunch, taeyong and jr moved to the other side of the table, which gave both sets of people ample room to spread out.
the only disadvantage was that this put jaehyun, who was across the canteen from him, directly into taeyong’s sight, and vice versa. taeyong listened idly to jeonghan talking about their plans for the weekend, his eyes drifting over to jaehyun without thinking about it. he must have spaced out, because joshua snapping his fingers in front of his face was the next thing he heard. “so are you gonna talk to him, or are you just gonna stare like a lovesick fool?” his tone was slightly snippy, but taeyong knew he meant nothing by it.
in response, he sighed, resting his cheek on his folded hands that lay on the table. his verbal response came out muffled, and jr grabbed a small chunk of his hair and gently pulled him up. taeyong grimaced, letting a dramatic moan of pain slip through his lips. the sound attracted looks from other tables around them, but taeyong just wrenched jr’s fingers from his freshly dyed silver hair. “there's no reason to talk to him now. we're just partners in class, not partners in life.” he replied, his eyes drifting back to jaehyun - who turned almost at the same time, their eyes locking.
when jaehyun finally broke his gaze, taeyong whispered “not anymore, at least.”
the other four shared a look, knowing what had to be done.
--
taeyong and jaehyun had known one another since they were teens, having gone to the same high school together and only getting together in their junior year. jaehyun knew that their relationship would be a secret for a while - taeyong wasn't yet out to his friends or family, while jaehyun was. that wasn’t a problem for jaehyun. he kept their physical contact short, only kissed taeyong behind locked doors, and never let his stare linger too long. for a year, that was enough to keep jaehyun sated.
however, problems began popping up after their first anniversary, just as they were heading into their senior year of high school. they often had late night talks, saying that once they graduate they would room together in college and that would be that. maybe taeyong would be able to come out to his friends, then, since they were planning on furthering their education in a different city. they spent months and months studying for their exams, and saving up for application fees and down payments for a dorm - then it all went downhill.
they went to a party together on a normal friday night, dressed to their best and walking with linked hands, but only as soon as they were out of sight of taeyong’s parents. jaehyun hadn’t been able to wipe the pleased smile off his face as he listened to taeyong blabber on about a new track he had been working on, not even when their hands naturally fell apart just before they arrived at the block that johnny, taeyong’s best friend, lived on. they could feel the vibrations of the music halfway down the street, the front door stood wide open and dancing bodies visible through the open space. the two didn’t even bother finding johnny, taeyong instead guiding jaehyun to the kitchen with a gentle hand on the small of his back. his touch was withdrawn as soon as they stepped into the significantly less crowded kitchen, and taeyong rifled through the fridge to find them two sodas to mix with one of the many bottles of alcohol lining the countertop.
it wasn’t long before jaehyun was leaning into taeyong’s side on a long couch, drink held precariously in his hand and threatening to spill at any second. taeyong laughed at some joke that he told, grabbing the other’s drink before it could spill and leave a stain that johnny would never be able to explain. when jaehyun leaned forward to leave a small kiss on taeyong’s cheek, the elder pushed him away with wide eyes, motioning silently to the other people in the room. it was then that jaehyun truly realized the magnitude of their relationship, of the situation that they were in. taeyong watched in silence as jaehyun seemed to ice over, his mouth clamping shut as he scooted over to leave room between them. he snatched his drink back from taeyong, almost as an afterthought, and threw the rest of it back with no hesitation. taeyong could only watch as he got up and went to get another drink, stumbling back towards him with a half full drink a few moments later. it was only when jaehyun mumbled something about needing to go somewhere quieter that taeyong finally unfroze, gently grabbing his wrist and dragging him upstairs to one of the guest rooms that he had claimed as his own.
after unlocking the door, he led jaehyun to the bed, and allowed him to sprawl all over the navy blue covers as he locked the door behind him, throwing his jacket off into the corner, and sitting down next to jaehyun. he looked over his boyfriend’s face, taking in every little detail. a bad feeling grew in the pit of his stomach, one that seemed all encompassing and like it would take over the world if it could.
little did taeyong know, it soon would take over his world.
drunk jaehyun was a filterless jaehyun, taeyong had found out over his time of knowing the other. therefore, it wasn’t a surprise when jaehyun began venting over the little things that had happened in his life, before suddenly jolting upright and staring at taeyong with a gaze that seemed to intense to be anything but sober - but the quiver of his lip and slur of his words was enough to let taeyong know that jaehyun was anything but sober. “why are we still doing this?” he muttered, words thick as they came over his tongue. taeyong’s voice came out gentle, asking what the problem was, and jaehyun just shook his head, seeming to change his train of thought. “i can’t do this anymore. this-this hiding thing, not being able to tell my friends that i’m completely, utterly, irrevocably in love with you” was the next thing out of his mouth. taeyong froze once more, only being able to watch as jaehyun got to his feet and bolted for the door, unlocking it quickly and slamming it shut behind him. taeyong went into overdrive, rushing towards the exit in search of jaehyun. the younger boy was nowhere to be found.
--
it didn’t take more than an hour of texting and calling jaehyun to realize that his texts and calls were no longer going through, and he couldn’t get a hold of him through other social media. the bold “you’ve been blocked by this person” on jaehyun’s twitter page sent a bolt of pain through his body as it finally sunk in that this was it. this was the end of the best thing that had ever happened to him.
jaehyun had even gone so far as to transfer schools to avoid taeyong. it wasn’t a surprise, honestly, since most of jaehyun’s friends went to their rival school anyways. over a year and a half after the incident, taeyong had found himself sitting across from jaehyun for their project, and didn’t know how to deal with himself.
--
so how he, jaehyun, found himself standing in front of the door to taeyong’s dorm a few days later, he’d never know. all he knew was that the older had sent him a text, asking to meet in his room to go over part of their notes. jaehyun didn't question it, considering that they had a test next week over the notes that they had taken, and they needed to be perfect. jaehyun knocked lightly on the door, listening for the telltale sound of feet coming towards him. the door swung open, taeyong standing behind it with black dye on his head, and one of his stained gloves pulled off so he wouldn't stain the door handle. he motioned for jaehyun to come in, telling him to ignore the smell that lingered in the dorm.
jaehyun looked around a little, seeing familiar photos and decorations that taeyong had brought from home. he felt a pang in his heart as he saw a particular frame that still housed a photo of them from one of their trips to the park in their younger days. all thoughts of taking notes and revising left his brain at the sight. taeyong noticed his gaze, laughing a little when he saw what had caught jaehyun’s attention. “even after all these years and all we’ve been through, i still can’t get rid of it.” he mumbled, eyes flickering up to meet jaehyun’s, who had been watching him closely. jaehyun’s gaze drifted back to the photo, his feet slowly following suit as he reached out for the frame, picking it up gently and gazing at the photo inside. it was probably from middle school, given that they both had their natural hair colors - they had both dyed their hair in high school - and they had their arms wrapped around one another. jaehyun remembered the day it was taken, not in specifics, but in feelings. he remembered the feeling of the sun on their back, of the burn he got on his knee from sliding down the slide and rolling off the end (the burn that taeyong kissed, because he swore it would make it better), he remembers the feel of taeyong’s squishy cheeks under his hands as he teased him.
“can we talk about it?” jaehyun uttered, his voice shaking slightly as the memories brought back a torrent of feelings that he thought he had covered up. taeyong replied with a small ‘yes’, causing jaehyun to let out a shaky breath and set the photo down, turning to taeyong before he could lose his nerve. “it was true, what i said that day, about being completely, utterly, irrevocably in love with you. it’s still true, as much as i wish it wasn’t.” he let out a sad laugh, before his head tilted down so taeyong could no longer see his face. “i regretted it the moment i said it, the moment i walked out, and i’ve regretted it since.” taeyong barely caught the rest of his sentence as his voice slowly tapered off, and jaehyun watched his feet come into view before taeyong was throwing his slender body into jaehyun’s arms, grasping tightly at him.
he could hear taeyong breathe a sigh of relief. “i regretted it too, not holding you back, that is. i watched you walk out of the door and out of my life and didn’t do a damn thing about it, and i’ve regretted it since then. and i’m sorry for never telling my friends, at least.” taeyong murmured into jaehyun’s shoulder, where his face had inevitably ended up buried. jaehyun was shocked, to say the least, as he slowly wrapped his arms around taeyong’s small frame and pulled him closer.
that is, until taeyong’s dye wet hair touched his cheek and he jumped back with a small shout, causing taeyong to drop to his knees and laugh. he watched as taeyong bustled off to rinse his hair out, coming back with water wet hair this time, drying it off with a towel. when he was done, he used the towel to wipe off the dye from jaehyun’s face, although it still left a blue mark. even after he had wiped the dye from jaehyun’s face, his hand lingered, and before they knew it, they had locked eyes and were leaning in, eyes fluttering shut and their lips about to meet --
then a door slammed not even ten feet away, and they jolted apart. a glance to the side revealed jeonghan, taeyong’s roommate, standing in the doorway. he stuttered out an apology, alongside a sneaky glance at taeyong, whose face was flushed red.
the two of them burst out laughing as soon as the door clicked closed, leaning on one another for support as they laughed until their lungs hurt. it was then, and only then, that they finally shared their first kiss in close to two years - jaehyun’s hands settled on taeyong’s waist, and taeyong’s arms around jaehyun’s neck. it was like time had never passed as they settled into a rhythm, their bodies pressed together and hearts beating in sync, it seemed.
--
the first time they sat together with all of their friends, it was nothing short of awkward. seungcheol and his two boyfriends had staked their claim on three consecutive seats, leaving taeyong and jaehyun to sit next to each other, while johnny and yuta sat next to them. johnny had also dragged along his new boyfriend, ten, who was coincidentally on the same dance team as taeyong.
and jr? oh, he sat between all the loving couples, silently gagging and making faces back and forth with yuta, the only other single person at the table.

Amor Fati
Auhor: Zinna92
Meanie with JunHao, Soonhoon, and Jihancheol
AO3
Warnings: Dubious consent (one scene only), Internalized Homophobia, Underage sex
Author’s summary: Everyone says love is easy. It is easy to feel, it’s hard to acknowledge that what you feel is love. More if you love another male, well, at least, was hard to Wonwoo to accept it. Yet he does love Mingyu and everyone knows it but him
Submission Notes: It’s so beautiful to see how the characters grow and the way their relationship matures as the chapters go.
Extra: The way the author describes certain situations and Wonwoo’s perspective of different things is truly beautiful.
Notes: Ongoing fic with 34/52 posted so far. Part of this series. Very angsty but I think it accurately describes maturing in a really beautiful manner. For those of you who like intense plot with porn, this is the fic for you.

ᴍᴀꜰɪᴀ!ꜱᴇᴠᴇɴᴛᴇᴇɴ
HYUNG LINE MAKNAE LINE
a/n: been wanting to do this for a long time now, hopefully y'all will like it <3 i don't really do reader x member stuff though, so this'll just either be member x member ships or no romance at all 😅
pairing: jihancheol, junhao, verkwan
genre: headcanons, fluff, crack, romance (kinda), angst (?), mafia
warnings: slight mentions of non-graphic violence, illegal stuff obviously
DK
handles the covers
has a chain of legitimate businesses
the earnings make the employees' salaries
but also funds svt
adding in to the earnings from their shady businesses
belongs to a very rich family
just a successful young ceo to the world
the loud adorable member to svt
really good at singing
even better at acting
no one from his companies can tell that he is sunshine personified
because he's the cold hearted and kind but firm ceo to them
handles a few different tech firms
(including the one where wonwoo pretends he works)
recently acquired a restaurant franchise
svt had to hire more members to take care of it
because while he isn't anything less than a one man army sometimes
handling too many things is not his cup of tea
has paperwork for every member of svt
saying that they work under him
just in case the gang's compromised
they'll have actual jobs and enough money for a while
works closely with joshua
and vernon
has separate basement offices in every building he owns
for both of them to work in
sometimes wonwoo joins them
a lot of svt's recruits work under him
they work with wonwoo and vernon during missions
to get them info
so that joshua and vernon can get to work
said information is given to the rest of the group for further plan making
often works from home
helps mingyu with the cooking
and the house maintenance
questions why they don't have hired house help on a daily basis
especially since they practically live in the headquarters
which is no less than a mansion
often does weird shit unprompted
in charge of svt's money management along with jihoon
his family doesn't know about his real job either
Mingyu
the doctor
because he's pretty smart
(also pretty dumb)
and very very clumsy
says it is better that his job doesn't require him to go on field
or he'll get someone killed
the members also collectively agree
saying that he cooks good food while they're away on missions
he retaliates saying that he cooks food even when they aren't on missions
secretly pleased they like his cooking
even though he knew that already
his recruitment was completely accidental
prompted by him saving seungcheol's life
was planning to attend medical college when his foster parents threw him out
was struggling
how was a 16 year old supposed to take care of himself
they didn't even let him pack his bags
or notify his previous orphanage that they couldn't afford to take care of him anymore
was wandering a dark alleyway a week later
near the bins, searching for edible food
when he found a guy bleeding out quite aggressively
(the man was seungcheol, but he didn't know back then)
the stranger had apparently gotten into a scuffle and had been shot
but the bullet had just grazed him and left a deep gash instead
helped patch seungcheol up
and helped him get back to his apartment
where joshua offered him a place to stay for a while
he was supposed to move out within a few days
was afraid they'd kick him out after a week
but no one said anything so he didn't either
felt guilty after a month and brought it up with jeonghan
who just laughed and said that he's a part of the family now
jihoon was the one to bring up his education
they sent him to a medical college like he wanted to after 2 years
used to be constantly worried about the others in the start
but now knows their pain tolerance and level headedness is higher than he thinks
and trusts himself too
once cooked dinner for the thirteen of them (hygienically) while cleaning jun's wounds
a 6 ft soft giant
swoon worthy
a total dork though
The8
master poisoner
in charge of poisons and drugs
not only their trade
but also their production

where he experiments with all sorts of chemicals and whatnot
has made drugs in all forms and disguises
for example, he has one which can be used as nail polish
dries and looks like actual nail polish
dip the finger in any liquid, except saliva, for exactly 7 seconds and it dissolves
has made small charms to be hung on bracelets or to be worn as pendants or rings
they contain tiny amounts of lethal poisons
has different "homemade" drugs for different purposes
made copies of the neat list which stated the dosage, use and method of administration
stuck them on all four fridges (yes, four, they eat like ogres) of the mansion
always makes sure that all his drugs and poisons have a cure, even lethal ones
but also makes sure that said cures are only with him
another chinese
trained in chinese wushu
has won over 40 contests since he was 6
fond of reading
a talented dancer
in love with teas and wines
sleight of hand
better than his boyfriend's
often accompanies jeonghan and jun on their missions
most of the times, even his members don't realise when he slips drugs in the target's glasses or plates
great sense of fashion
sassy as fuck
✨MaTeRiAl GwOrL✨
infamous for his prompt savage rebuttals
especially to soonyoung
even though he is one of the members who babies soonyoung the most
meditation is practically a lifestyle at this point
usually calm and serene
very wise and stable
knows how to have fun though
unexpectedly kinky
(jun is his bf though so not that surprising)
part of the '97 squad along with mingyu and seokmin, a group of same aged friends with people from different ally gangs such as bts and got7
him and jun are also close friends with other chinese people in different ally gangs, same aged or not
a soft little dumpling in reality
Seungkwan
deals with trade and arms
along with chan
but his job, predominantly, is to overlook dealings
and trade
svt ships arms and other stolen goods
also overlooks that entire department
one of the youngers
got the hyung vibe anyway
gets annoyed really easily
specially with chan
the drama queen of the gang
very entertaining
as long as it's not you he's roasting the shit out of
from jeju-do
how he ended up in a seoul gang is still very much unknown to him
especially because he comes from an adorable middle class family
can be unexpectedly shy
the members often tease him by calling him a tangerine
gets ready to murder in reply
unless hansol says it ofc
then he just blushes
very round
very squishy
do not fight if mingyu is not around
god knows he'e the only one who can physically hold him back
another sassy bitch
and another ✨MaTeRiAl GwOrL✨
very close with his sisters
won't admit it
but pouts a lot
is forever suffering from some kind of second hand embarrassment
has an ongoing feud with mingyu
and soonyoung
and specially chan
secretly loves them though
always has some sort of blackmail on everyone
unexpectedly stupid
whipped™ for hansol
has excellent memory
Vernon
scammer
almost as good wonwoo with computers
is always on field with joshua
usually out of sight though
very calm and collected
usually
half american
his family lives in america
so he never has to worry about them
originally worked as their fake bait
used to pretend like he is their prized boy toy
then sell him for something else
only to never let him leave at all
aka they killed the other party
they failed to do so once
he had to pretend to be shy
and sultry
while still also protecting his dignity
for a week straight
at least the bracelet he had was fitted with a microphone
and a tiny speaker
courtesy of wonwoo
so he was in contact with them the entire time
they decided to not play with another member's life after the incident
and hansol started working with wonwoo and joshua
to scam entire gangs
too good at his job
no one ever realises they even got scammed for the longest time
and when they do, it's practically impossible o trace it back to svt
very reliable
and stable
whipped for seungkwan
best friends with chan
almost more maknae then chan
one of the few people who's barely ever bullied by the members
too good at dad jokes
but they're also pretty rare
has a very strong personality
weirdly fond of hats
might be more whipped for cats than he is for seungkwan
which is saying something
svt has a cat in the headquarters
because of him
very easygoing
tends to take a long time doing everyday tasks
Dino
arms
except he makes and experiments with them
instead of trading
they call him their little iron man (💀)
has an insane stamina
in love with anything explosive
another hapkido back belt
in charge of training the new recruits
runs a gun shop as a side business
it's legitimate
used to train for the military
changed career courses when he found out about svt accidentally
was actually on the way to a relative's house
gave the wrong address to the taxi driver
svt, on the other hand, were waiting for a new recruit
jihoon had orchestrated a complicated surprise test for him
was very surprised when the taxi left him in front of a mansion instead of a rundown apartment building
was even more baffled when around ten men in suits who looked like they came straight from an action thriller jumped at him
fight or flight instinct was on
didn't know what was happening
but fought anyway
couldn't defeat them
but did manage to get a word in to jihoon
who was surprised to know chan wasn't the recruit
offered him a good price to join
chan accepted
never really did get around to visiting that relative though hmm
svt tends to have a upper hand in most situations
a major reason for which is their upgraded weaponry
very loved as the maknae
has to be the most bullied maknae in history though 💀
the group's punching bag (lovingly)
when i tell you they throw him around like a rag doll
(sometimes physically, he is pretty tiny)
emotionally wiser than you'd think
everyone would unanimously agree that he is the most passionate member
he is also jeonghan hyung's baby
one of the few members who didn't grow up with the group
a/n: yikes, this took a long time. anyway, reviews are always welcome!

!!!!!!!!! :DD
“that’s a long astronomy special,” seungkwan remarks blandly over your shoulder.
you accidentally close a tab. “yeah, mercury’s in gatorade.”
“retrograde,” seungkwan says, sipping his caramelised ginger tea, “and anyway, aren’t you in charge of world news?”
leaning over to pinch his side, you say, “yes, but he sent it to the wrong [y/n]. and besides, all that developmental belt thing is tiring.”
“i thought you’re the only [y/n] in our company,” seungkwan swats your hand, and shuffles back into his cubicle.
when his head is safely out of sight, you quickly shut the email tab and open a new word document. a sulky, unnerving thrill runs down your spine – did he see what you were typing? did he see what seokmin was typing? the last message hadn’t been as incriminating as you thought – he’d left out the ‘x’s and ‘o’s, and you’re pretty sure seokmin types like that to everyone anyway.
still, you wheel your chair back a little, only to see seungkwan headbanging to what looks like beyonce on spotify. the red headphones cupping his ears seem secure enough, so you heave a sigh of relief and wheel yourself back into place again. the quiet of the office chants itself into a rhythm of unsuspecting sounds: a squeak of an office chair, the tapping of a disgruntled pen, an incoherent flush of coffee from the new machine…
your fingers pace uneasily across your keyboard in an attempt at competence; you’re pretty sure “hong kong – amidst rising concerns regarding housing estate prices and default banking credit” is completely unrelated to your actual piece on venezuela.
after what feels like an eternity, and maybe a suitable length of time, you put your computer to sleep, and wheel yourself out of the cubicle. seungkwan’s still steadily nodding his head, chasing after the beats of a pop legend. you slowly wheel yourself out.
the getaway goes smoothly, and you’re almost at the frosted glass gates before
“hey, [y/n], where’re you going?” chan calls.
you’re sure it’s revenge for getting to be seatmates with seungkwan. “just out for lunch.”
he squints. “it’s not yet lunch.”
sighing, you tap at the pink subterfuge folder in your lap. “i’m dropping these off at home news first, by the time i get back it will be lunch.”
“oh!” he says, and then beams, “then you won’t mind helping me drop these?”
it’ll be a trip – home news is stuck in the tiniest, furthest corner of the building. but you know that this is a small price to pay for seeing seokmin and enjoying his company in peace.
“sure,” you sigh, “all aboard the [y/n] express!”
“did anyone find out?” seokmin asks, fingers giddily folded over the lid of his tupperware.
you shake your head. “no. or at least, i don’t think so.”
“…right-o!” seokmin fumbles with the lid for a moment, before unleashing a thick, heavenly scent of chocolate and crisp nuts.
“it smells good.” your stomach grunts in agreement. “you could be a baker.”
seokmin nods enthusiastically, before holding up a cookie to your mouth. you flinch slightly, before taking a quick bite and pulling the cookie out of his hands. it’s good. it’s better than anything you’ve had. he’s still smiling that same sweet way he does, eyes squinting and teeth bright.
“how’s it?”
“good! very, very good,” you say.
he laughs. “i made it with all my love!”
the statement makes you flush – it’s too loud and cheerful in the otherwise quiet of the afternoon break.
“don’t shout cheesy things like that,” you chide. “anyway, i’ve got to deliver these files to home news later because chan almost found me out.”
“i’ll walk you there,” seokmin says in between bites. “chan?”
“yeah, you know, that guy who’s got a michael jackson shrine and it caught on fire last week?”
“oh,” seokmin frowns. “yeah, that’s bad.”
you lean over for another snack. “well, he managed to get it up and twice as big – human resource’s going to have a tough time talking to him.”
“oh,” seokmin jolts. “oh, i wasn’t - ah.”
you raise an eyebrow, but seokmin only smiles again – peach lips stretched wide and willing. the midday sunlight dances off his cheekbones, light and easy. he’s so close now, you think you might engineer a brush of your hands, or mastermind some heist on his smile. instead, you bite down on a cookie, and continue bemoaning your day.
“also i heard someone at lifestyle was caught hooking up with home news in a closet,” you say. “turns out it’s the boss’s ex, and if not for his crazy good editing skills, i think they’d both have been blacklisted by the industry.”
he shrugs, “jeonghan-hyung?”
“you know who it is,” you gasp. “how’d you know?”
“the jihancheol-bermuda triangle is an open secret,” seokmin says, unperturbed. thoughtfully, he supplies, “soonyoung coined the term.”
his indifference makes you shiver. “so everyone knows about it.”
“jeonghan-hyung is very loud about it,” seokmin says with a cringe.
you laugh, choking on bits of chocolate. “that’s why it’s better if no one knows about us.”
seokmin gazes at a light behind you. “yeah.”
“really,” you say, suddenly moved to place your hand on his knee. “imagine if something happened, like if we got into a fight, and then – we’d never hear the end of it, or-”
seokmin cups your hand in his. “but what if we never fought?”
“that’s impossible,” you scoff.
seokmin’s smiling again, a thumb lazily tracing your knuckles. “but we haven’t.”
he’s right – it’s been at least six months dating, and yet the two of you are still eerily comfortable with each other. any form of dispute or argument bows low to seokmin’s winning smile and your rational compartmentalisation. no matching couple outfits? sure, most of them are tacky and inconvenient for you anyway. no idea where to go for dinner? it’s cool, you’re usually too hungry to care.
but the thought of showing yourselves off, like jeonghan and seungcheol, sends bile rising up your throat. you swallow it, and move your hands away from seokmin’s warm, sweaty ones.
“lunch is almost over,” you say. “i’ll go to home news.”
“i’ll walk you!” seokmin jumps up.
you shake your head. “it’s fine, i’ll do it myself.”
“it’s on the way,” seokmin insists.
“no,” you say, perhaps a little too loudly. seokmin startles, and you quickly say, “i just meant, home news is really far away.”
he doesn’t seem to believe it as much as you do. but then seokmin smiles the world alright, and bends over to peck your forehead. you try to grin back at him, but it doesn’t reach your eyes.

business has you rolling into lifestyle and advisory columns – something about china’s new social credit ranking system accounting for horoscopes. one place now definitely excluded from your retirement plans.
lifestyle and advisory is a little more unrestricted than the rest of the company. for one, their front door is dripping in neon and decked in last year’s christmas lights; the piñata from someone’s birthday three years ago is still lying untouched beside the chalkboard sign. you squint. it’s a very specific horoscope reading: “all leos with black moppy hair and big doe eyes, if you’re 177cm tall, watch out! you’ll walk into three poles and be on your worst luck!”
the door swings open prematurely. “oh! [y/n]!”
you barely reel back – there’s a metal clatter. “ah, seokmin.”
“are you here to see me?” his face lights up.
you shake your head, ignoring the way his shoulders slump a little. “world news thought we should check out astrology.”
seokmin pauses, and then smiles brighter. “i can help you!”
“sure,” you say, compelled.
he steps aside for you to enter the office. it’s completely different from when you visited two months ago – the once pink walls are now a deep navy, with glittering starfishes as adornments. you think they broke budget again to buy another beanbag.
“seokminnie?” a voice calls out. “aren’t you going to meet seolhyun?”
seokmin flushes pink. “not now, hyung.”
jeonghan peeks out from behind his partitioned cubicle. he’s gone for a frothy lavender.
“oh, you’ve got company,” jeonghan says. “hey, [y/n].”
“nice hair,” you say.
he scrunches up his nose playfully. “i’m dying it black later.”
“maybe a bob cut,” you say.
seokmin hurriedly pushes you into a meeting room. or a break room. or a nursery. you’re not really sure why, but there’s an animated dragon head on one of the windows.
“so, seolhyun,” you say, trying to discern if the beanbags are pink or red.
he nods vaguely. “yeah, jeonghan-hyung said she wanted to speak to me about something.”
“and you’re keeping her waiting,” you say stiffly.
seokmin jerks up. “no! i mean, yes, but i want to help you.”
he’s earnest, at least. you say, “it’s fine, i can always ask, um, yoojung.”
“it’s okay,” he says, smiling. “is this about china’s social credit-”
you snatch your files out of his hands. “just go, seokmin.”
“[y/n].” his face falls. “hey, it’s fine, seolhyun can wait-”
“just go,” you urge, but you’re pretty sure your teeth aren’t supposed to be grinding right now.
seokmin looks like he wants to say something – the hover of his agape mouth has you hooked, waiting for a line. you watch him, tensed and fretting and shocked. it’s almost morbid, the way you’re pining for a catastrophe.
but nothing.
“okay,” he says, smiling. “i’ll get yoojung to come in.”
you press a fist against your thigh. “sure.”
when he leaves, you try to think of the wheelchair-equivalent of stomping out of the department. yoojung rushes into the break room, flustered and giddy before you can do anything.
and so you spend the rest of the day tapping a pen against your desk, itching to turn back time.
seungkwan passes you your coffee order on his way back. he’s managed to conveniently forget chan’s soy-latte, and instead making a beeline towards you.
“you know the angel of clickbaits,” seungkwan squeals. “and that seokmin guy you were emailing?”
“jeonghan?”
“no,” seungkwan flicks you on the forehead. “seolhyun. kim seolhyun!”
you shrug. “what about her?”
“what about them,” seungkwan says, wagging a finger. “i. saw. them. together! can you imagine! in the coffeeshop everyone was charmed out of their pants. my god, don’t you want to know what they were talking about?”
“mmhmm,” you say – it’s not your first time working with the radio on.
“[y/n],” seungkwan says, snapping his fingers in front of your face. “seokmin. seolhyun. keep up!”
the name catches your attention. “seolhyun?”
it’s the right thing to say apparently, because seungkwan launches right into another explanation about the ‘angel of clickbait’. it takes him three carefully rationed sips of his frappe and at least five tuts before he gets to the main point:
“-so like, i’m just there, right, and i happen to hear,” seungkwan shoots you a look, “i happen to hear them talking about date places!”
you want to laugh. “sure. did you go up and suggest the observatory?”
“no!” seungkwan exclaims, scandalised, “the observatory is mine!”
you shrug, watching seungkwan continue to fawn and swoon over a perfect ‘sunshine’ couple. as you take a sip of your own coffee, you can’t help but feel victorious at how you’ve finally gained the upperhand on seungkwan after so many torturous years of living under a rock.
the triumph in your chest simmers a little as seungkwan says, “-so like, what’s a good ship name? seolmin? seokhyun?”
you shrug. “does it matter?”
seungkwan fixes you with an eagle’s glare. “of course it does! seokmin’s been rejecting every single girl and guy for the past few years. this is big news.”
“i didn’t know you cared about seokmin,” you say.
“i care about news,” seungkwan waves your statement away. “seokmin’s fine, anyhow.”
to be fair, the seolhyun-seokmin hype works out in your favour. you were wheeling yourself into the staff lounge for some tea when you overheard taelyn, jimin and mingyu chattering about it. the news spreads like a virus – potent, unrelenting, and all the way to radio broadcast already.
when you’re cuddling up with seokmin one night, you say, “mingyu from home news was saying that you and seolhyun were planning to elope.”
seokmin fakes a gasp, “are we? i didn’t get a packing list!”
you swat him on the arm playfully. “real funny.”
he sinks into your touch, shuffling up next to you. the television continues to murmur in strange, foreign incantations.
“are you jealous?” he says, huffing into your hair.
“no.”
“you’re jealous, aren’t you?” his glee pokes you in the arm. “you’re jealous!”
you roll your eyes, nudging him in the ribs. “i’m not.”
“we should tell them i’m yours,” seokmin says giddily.
“no!” you’re quickly turning to face him. “the seolhyun thing is good.”
“it is?” he frowns, tangling a finger in your hair.
“it is,” you say. “no one will ever think we’re together.”
“oh.”
there’s something unrecognisable on his face, so you say, “of course, you’re okay with that right? us staying low?”
his gaze shifts to your hair.
“i mean, we’re just taking it slow,” you rush to say, “keeping things casual. nothing serious.”
seokmin is quiet for the longest time. your arm is stiff from lying at a crooked angle in between the both of you, but you don’t dare to move. you train your eyes on his adam’s apple instead, unmoving.
and then seokmin breaks into a half-smile, reassuring and pliant. it’s something you’ve been seeing a lot of recently. for a moment you wonder if it’s too dim in the room.
“sure,” he says. “it’s getting late now. i should go.”
you spend the rest of the week battling an extraordinary workload: there’s the social credit system update, the venezuela inflation, as well as asean’s latest meeting. on top of that, seungkwan’s still busy blathering about seolmin and seokmin’s sending you more emails about cat videos and irrelevant photos.
(they’re cute, though.)
you press your chin into the heel of your hand, disgruntled at the remarks your editor has made on your third draft. there’re only two more hours till it becomes old news, and you’re not sure what else is synonymous with ‘transient’.
“you brought work home?” seokmin says.
he’s becoming something of a permanent fixture in your apartment; there’s a spare toothbrush for him in the washroom, and you’re pretty sure the record playing in the radio is his.
“yeah,” you say, taking your reading glasses off. “two hours more.”
“oh! inflation, yikes,” he says, reading over your shoulder. “can’t you take a break for a bit?”
you sniffle. “i don’t know…”
“come on, let’s cuddle for a bit,” he says, tugging on your arm.
you smile, shaking your head. “if we cuddle i’m gonna fall asleep.”
his palms work their way to your shoulders, coaxing, “please? i missed you a lot.”
you sigh as he kneads into the knots of your shoulders, squeezing with just the right amount of pressure.
“okay, sure,” you say, and let him lead you to the bed.
“did you miss me too?”
“seokmin,” you say, shuffling on the duvet. “i’m here.”
he smiles into your hair. “but i can never love you like this at the office.”
“you can love me now,” you say, the word slipping through a careless smile.
“i do,” he says.
you can’t shake off the feeling that he’s got something more to say. “and?”
seokmin pulls back to smile at you. the effect is kind of dizzying, like it’s the first time you’ve ever met.
“and… that’s enough.”

“why are you emailing me,” you say, peering over seungkwan’s partition.
he smiles. “let’s go.”
you roll your eyes, “it’s not a long list.”
“yeah,” he says, “but i need a wingwoman and possibly a sympathy card.”
“just because i’m in a wheelchair, doesn’t mean i need sympathy,” you say, but you’re already wheeling yourself out of the cubicle.
seungkwan swats at your complaints like imaginary flies. “do i look nice today?”
seungkwan’s wearing something more street-smart today. it’s not a bad look, and the change is pretty refreshing. it’s probably got to do with that barista he keeps moaning about.
“you do,” you say sincerely. “is it that vernon guy?”
he flushes cutely. “you know it is.”
“how far have you two gone? first date? second date?”
seungkwan rolls his eyes again and threaten to take your wheelchair for a spin. “i called you here because i needed to get his number.”
“so you’re serious then.”
“a little. maybe. if he stops being dense.”
you laugh. “at least he doesn’t work for the paper.”
“oh no,” seungkwan says, activating an immaculate performance of sarcasm, “he’d be so good at asking questions and being an active reporter.”
“i meant a relationship in the workplace,” you clarify.
seungkwan scoffs. “the no-dating policy is just a jihancheol triangle thing. no one cares.”
“maybe,” you say quickly. “hey, he’s in.”
seungkwan immediately tenses up. you wheel yourself forward, alerting the sensors. tinted doors part in front of you, and you’re about to cross the threshold when seungkwan pulls you back ungracefully. with a yelp, you’re drawn back into the streets.
“i can’t do this,” seungkwan says. and then, “oh, seokhyun’s in there too.”
“seokmin?”
“and seolhyun,” seungkwan adds. “but oh my god, he looks even hotter today. what do i do?”
you don’t reply. instead, with renewed vigour, you wheel yourself into the café, and head straight for seokmin. he’s laughing with vigour at something. before you know it, you’re right by their table. seungkwan’s rushed in to accompany you.
“-and, like, oh! [y/n]!” seokmin sounds genuinely surprised. “hey, what are you doing here?”
“hey, seokmin from lifestyle, right?” seungkwan exclaims. “oh, and seolhyun from web news! what a coincidence!”
seolhyun giggles. “you’re seungkwan from world news, right? i always see you doing coffee runs.”
“yeah, you’re always with seokmin,” seungkwan says fondly.
“oh, who’s this?” seolhyun asks, looking at you kindly.
“i’m [y/n] from world news too.”
seolhyun starts. but before she can say anything, seungkwan cuts in, “are you two on a date?”
seolhyun immediately says to you. “no! we’re not, we’re just talking!”
“yeah,” you say. and then, to seokmin, “hello.”
a part of you stills, perched on the edge of cruelty. you can’t wait to see what he’ll do – you don’t know what exactly it is he’ll do. his eyes, searching, find no hint in your expression. seolhyun glances at him, then you, worrying her lip. for a moment you wonder if he’ll let up. as the seconds stretch into awkward tautness, the flush on his face intensifies.
seokmin nods politely. “hey, [y/n].”
he quickly averts his gaze, fingers toying with the straws on the table instead. and then, looking up at seungkwan and seolhyun, he smiles wide.
“you hated it.”
“hm?”
“at the café.”
“hated what?”
“you don’t like pretending we’re not together.”
“…that’s not-” a smile. “you like it better like that, right, like we’re undercover-”
“i hate it when you smile like that.”
“like what?”
“like everything’s okay.”
a beat.
“it’s getting late.”
welcome back! you have no new mail.
seungkwan offers you a cookie. you bite it out of his hand.
“ah! you’re being a monster today too,” seungkwan says, cradling his hand. “what’s wrong with you?”
you shake your head. “nothing.”
it’s not nothing; you woke up to find only one toothbrush hanging precariously over your sink. the sight of that felt like an omen then, and still simmers hotly in your chest now.
“you look like you’re heartbroken,” seungkwan continues to comment. “did you break up?”
did you? “i don’t know.”
seungkwan rolls his chair over next to yours. “i worked in advisory for a bit. you can tell me anything!”
there’s a tilted jacket pin on his pullover. you think it might be from vernon.
“um, well, i’m – was? – seeing someone from this company,” you whisper.
seungkwan nods solemnly, albeit a little confused. “and?”
“and we were keeping it secret,” you say. “but i don’t think he wanted it to be a secret.”
“that’s all?”
“what do you mean ‘that’s all’?”
seungkwan sighs. “you looked like he cheated on you, and then stole all your belongings. was there a fight?”
was there? “kind of.”
seungkwan pouts. “c’mon, you don’t even know if you had a fight? that’s not very good.”
“he’s… very agreeable. it’s,” you sigh, “i feel like i’m setting little trials and –”
“woah, woah, trials?” seungkwan narrows his eyes. “that doesn’t sound good.”
“i don’t know how to-” your fingers arch out in a quick succession of strained, grabbing gestures. “it’s so hard to-”
“to talk?”
you nod numbly. “what do i do?”
seungkwan softens, running his hand through your hair. “maybe you should talk to him. properly. ask him what he thinks.”

they’re like ocean waves (teaser)
anonymous asked: “A junhao pirate!au where they're both captains of the two strongest ships in asia (the world??). Just a cute rival to lovers! It can be any length you want to but the longer the better! Tysm!!<33”
✧ pairings → junhao (junhui ♡ minghao), side jihancheol, side meanie and a smattering of undecided side pairings
✧ genre → action (angst, fluff, smut - to come)
✧ warnings → swords, knives (violence, guns, cannons - to come)
✧ words → 906
junhui’s a pirate who hid his “famous” treasure and now everyone is desperate to find it before anyone else can. especially minghao, a bad bitch pirate who takes what he wants and isn’t afraid of anything (except for maybe love). junhui makes it his goal to help minghao when he realizes just how out of his depth the younger boy is.
✎ read the fic here
The water is cold and stretches for as far as the eye can see. The ocean is vast and blue, calm on this day.
Minghao stands at the helm, hands firm on the steering wheel as he gazes over his crew. After that raid he led in the Great Eastern Sea some years ago, he never thought his crew would grow to include Koreans. But there's no mistaking the men before him.
Seokmin is manning the masts, a handkerchief wrapped tight around his head, shielding his dark hair from the fiery rays of the sun as he makes sure their new white sails are being set up correctly. Sweat runs down Mingyu's arms as he lifts barrels of gunpowder down into the cargo hold and Minghao can't help but stare at the slightly older man. Seokmin and Mingyu are older than Minghao, but they've never faltered in showing their respects to him. They owe Minghao their lives and enjoy working under his rule, making sure that his strict code is enforced throughout all of Minghao's fleet which Minghao appreciates, considering how many men work for him.
Seungkwan and Hansol are bickering at the bow and Minghao rolls his eyes, debating whether or not to break up their argument. He decides against it when Chan pushes in between them and forces them back to work, the teen laden down with heavy coils of rope Minghao is surprised he can carry. Seungkwan pushes at Hansol's arm and follows after Chan, leaving Hansol to look after them, an offended look on his face. Minghao is still partially confused over whether Hansol is actually Korean or not due to his European features, but he doesn't voice it because race and ethnicity have never been important things to Minghao.
Appearances don't make up a person's worth in his opinion, it's their actions and willingness to improve that really matter to him.
Minghao watches as his small crew works to keep the ship steady and flowing easily across the bright waters. They're in the South China Sea at the moment (Chan had made a big show of his maps and markings, proclaiming their location in an excited voice once they'd passed the borders) and the water is calm.
Too calm.
Minghao doesn't know why he's so bothered by the relaxed lull of the sea around them. He's in a hurry to find what he's been searching for for years. After meeting with the captain of his northern fleet, Yixing, a month ago, Minghao had been given the last puzzle piece of the information he needed. Now he and his most trustworthy men are on their way to find the treasure.
He should be relieved about their lack of run-ins with the Qing Imperial Navy and other enemy pirates, but he just can't shake the feeling that something terrible is about to happen. It's like an itch he can't scratch and it's been bothering him ever since they set sail for the island.
Still, Minghao continues to watch over his crew, laughing to himself when Seokmin wipes his brow then flicks his sweat at Seungkwan. Seungkwan's squeals are loud and overdramatic, but the man himself has always been dramatic so it's really nothing new. Chan flicks his fingers at Seungkwan's arm and darts away when Seungkwan turns to face him, a look of irritation deforming his features. Hansol is next to strike, slapping Seungkwan's ass before he runs past Minghao and up towards the poop deck.
Minghao ignores them again, instead focusing on Seokmin folding up their old red sails and putting them away in an inconspicuous box. It'd been Minghao's idea to change their sails. Waving the red sails of the Red Flags would most definitely draw unwanted attention to their average-looking ship and though Minghao is itching for any kind of action, he also doesn't want to put the lives of his crew at unnecessary risk. Better to pretend they're a neutral ship in unfamiliar waters instead of entering with guns blazing.
Seokmin finishes putting the sails away, nodding at Mingyu when the tanned man comes forward to pick up the box. They exchange a few words that Minghao can't quite make out over the roar of the sea, humming of the ship and snapping of the new sails against the wind, but there's no mistaking the matching grins that spread across their faces once Mingyu turns to head below deck and deposit the box into their stores. Minghao's grip is as firm as ever on the steering wheel of the ship, but there's a blurb of something coming up on the horizon and Minghao's already turning to port side where Chan is scampering up the ratlines to get high enough on the masts to use his telescope.
"Captain!"
Chan is waving his hands around, pointing at the blurb that's getting closer by the second and Minghao doesn't know whether to be alarmed by the black sails or not.
"Captain! Incoming ship!" Chan yells again, this time gaining the attention of everyone on board.
Mingyu rushes up onto the main deck, a little breathless and immediately spots the ship. Minghao frowns at the approaching black sails, but makes no move to alter their course. They have nothing to worry about, not when Minghao has both his swords, his guns and a couple of knives up his sleeve.
He can easily handle whatever's heading their way.
At least, he hopes he can.

Everything’s Gonna Be Alright
pairing: jihancheol | rating: g | warnings: mentions of character death, light angst
a/n: i wrote this a while back for a 95line fic exchange but haven’t posted it here until now cause i was on vacation haha. it’s my longest fic ehehe. as usual, this is also on ao3 and will soon be put on aff too
“I think that’s the last of it.”
Jisoo sighs deeply, wiping his brow as he straightens back up after setting the last box down along the wall with all the others. He’ll have to sort through them and decide where the contents of each should go, but right now his legs are screaming at him to take a break. “So what’s for dinner tonight? Takeout or pizza?” he asks as he flops back on the couch and drapes an arm over his eyes. He grunts when he feels a weight on his stomach and tiny hands insistently smacking at his chest. “Pizza, pizza, pizza!” “Alright Channie, I’ll order it in a minute” Jisoo smiles, slightly lifting his arm off his face to see his little brother pouting at him. “Hyung is tired right now.” Chan whines at him, flopping onto his chest. Jisoo chuckles at the pout on his little brother’s face, ruffling Chan’s hair with his other hand. Neither of his roommates are back yet; Jeonghan’s off running an errand with his sister and Seungcheol’s at work. It’s just him and Chan at their shared apartment right now.
He sighs quietly, lightly stroking Chan’s hair as the four year old babbles at him about his favorite pizza. Normally around this time, he’d be coming home from work while Chan would be eating dinner with their--
He swallows, shaking his head. He can’t dwell on that right now, not when Chan’s still with him. He’s gotta stay strong, for him, for both of them. Jisoo ruffles his brother’s hair fondly, stretching his arm out and grabbing his phone before dialing his usual pizza place and making the orders.
“Okay Channie, pizza’s gonna be here in fifteen minutes,” Jisoo says after hanging up, tossing his phone on the table. He grunts when Chan squeals happily, bouncing on his chest. It doesn’t bother him though, he’d do anything to make his little brother smile brightly like he is right now. He scoops the child into his arms, making airplane noises as he runs around the apartment, pretending Chan’s an airplane. “Wheee!” Chan cries happily, laughing brightly as Jisoo hugs him to his chest, patting the older’s cheeks. At the sound of the front door unlocking he grins, telling Chan that Cheol hyung’s back. Chan doesn’t pay attention, demanding for more airplanes.
“Well, it looks like someone’s having fun.” Jisoo turns to the doorway, laughing at the sight of Seungcheol hopping about while trying to toe off his shoes. Chan hides his face in Jisoo’s shoulder, shyly peeking out as his brother goes over to help with Seungcheol with his things. “Heya Channie,” Seungcheol coos, gently pinching his cheek before turning to his roommate. “Did you get settled in yet?”
Jisoo nods, jerking his head in the direction of the boxes as Chan squirms in his arms. “Just gotta unpack the boxes now. We’re having pizza for diner by the way; Chan’s request.”
“Pizza?” Chan asks eagerly, perking up only to pout when Jisoo says it’s not coming yet. That makes Seungcheol laugh and ruffle Chan’s hair before he asks Jisoo if he needs any help unpacking.
“I was gonna leave it for tomorrow actually,” Jisoo says with a quiet laugh as they go over and sit on the couch. “Chan’s bed is already set up in my room and I’ve taken out some of his clothes for tomorrow.”
“Don’t you have work tomorrow?” Jisoo frowns, letting his brother squirm out of his arms and run around the apartment. Seungcheol’s right, he does have work tomorrow and he hasn’t looked up daycares for Chan yet with how busy he was in the aftermath of his parents’ funeral.
“I do,” he says, biting his lip in thought. “I don’t know anyone who can take care of him last minute though. You and Jeonghan work tomorrow too, right?”
“I don’t know about Hannie, but I actually have off tomorrow,” Seungcheol shrugs, chuckling at Chan running around making airplane noises. “I can look after your brother while you’re gone.” Jisoo nods, eyeing him scrutinizingly. Seungcheol shrinks a little awkwardly under his stare, staring back at him slightly bewildered. “Is that not a good idea?”
“Yes and no,” Jisoo says with a shrug, catching Chan before he can run into the coffee table. “I think I’d feel better if Hannie was with you.”
Seungcheol pouts at him, about to protest when they hear the doorbell ring, still pouting even as Jisoo heads to the door, Chan close on his heels.
“PIZZA!”
Jisoo laughs, ruffling his brother’s hair fondly as he opens the door, coming face to face with his other roommate instead of the pizza delivery person. He can’t help but laugh again when Chan eagerly asks if he’s the pizza man.
“Pizza man?” Jeonghan blinks, stepping into the apartment. “Last time I checked, no.”
“Hyung, want pizza!” Chan whines, clinging onto Jisoo’s leg with a pout. Jisoo grins, penguin wobbling out of the way with Chan clinging tightly on him so Jeonghan can toe off his shoes. Jeonghan laughs, bending down to Chan’s height and poking his cheek.
“Are you not happy to see Jeonghan hyung?” he says with a pout, making puppy eyes at the child. Chan immediately shakes his head, stubbornly insisting he wants the pizza man now! Seungcheol cackles at Jeonghan’s put out expression, sticking his tongue out at him before the doorbell rings again.
“Third time’s the charm Channie,” Jisoo smiles, asking Seungcheol to grab his wallet while he opens the door once again. Thankfully it’s actually the pizza man, much to Chan’s delight. Once they’re all settled around the coffee table, they dig in eagerly, occasionally getting scolded by Jeonghan to chew and then swallow by how quickly they were scarfing down the pizza.
“Hannie, do you work tomorrow?” Jisoo asks, carefully wiping leftover sauce around Chan’s mouth. Jeonghan nods in the midst of bickering with Seungcheol over who would be stronger between Superman and Wonder Woman.
“Yeah, but I get off early tomorrow,” he shrugs, jabbing Seungcheol’s ribs. “Why do you wanna know?”
“Cause I’m not sure if I can trust Cheol to look after this lil squirt while I’m at work,” Jisoo says simply, petting Chan’s head as his brother giggles at the other two bickering in front of him. “I didn’t look up any daycares yet with all the stuff that’s been going on and Cheol offered to take care of him.”
Jeonghan nods understandingly; since his parents’ funeral, Jisoo’s been throwing himself into taking care of Chan while dealing with the aftermath of his parents’ death. It’s a surprise he hasn’t broken down yet. He tells his friend he’ll be back in the afternoon, making a little jab at Seungcheol.
“I’m sure he can take care of a kid for a couple hours,” he snickers, flopping over when Seungcheol shoves at him. Jisoo rolls his eyes when they start wrestling, picking Chan up so he can give him a bath.
“Try not to knock over the coffee table again please,” he calls over his shoulder, jostling Chan a little bit on the way to the bathroom. His brother’s eyes are already drooping a little as the child smushes his face against Jisoo’s shoulder. Jisoo laughs softly, making a detour to his room to grab Chan’s pajamas and a spare towel.
Once he’s finished giving Chan a bath and tucking him in bed, he goes back out to the living room where his roommates are curled up on the couch watching some drama (and still bickering). They scoot over a little, making room for him to flop in between them with a tired sigh.
“You sure you can take care of Chan?” Jisoo teases, nudging Seungcheol with his elbow. Seungcheol groans, head knocking back on the back of the sofa while Jeonghan and Jisoo snicker at him.
“I’m perfectly capable of taking care of kids,” he says with a huff, scowling at the two. “Is that really so hard to believe?”
Jisoo doesn’t dignify that with an answer, sticking his tongue out at him instead. Seungcheol grumbles at him, lightly kicking his shins.
“Yeah, yeah, we’ll see how you really do tomorrow,” Jeonghan snorts, flipping through the channels. “I’m betting you’ll call Soo in three hours panicking cause you can’t find Chan.”
“Alright, no fighting you two, you’ll wake him up,” Jisoo laughs, getting comfortable between them. They watch some movie Jeonghan settled on while Jisoo tells Seungcheol everything he needs for tomorrow. When the credits start rolling, Jisoo stands up, stretching his arms as he yawns, telling them he’ll head to bed first and reminding them not to stay up too late. The other two bid him a good night before he disappears into his room with a quiet click of the door behind him.
“Still betting you’ll call him in three hours.”
“Shut up!”
“I left some emergency numbers on the counter if you can’t reach me,” Jisoo says hurriedly as he quickly checks his things, Jeonghan passing him a piece of toast. “But text me after if anything happens, got it?”
Seungcheol nods, yawning a little as he watches them bustle around the kitchen. He would’ve slept in, but Jisoo woke him up, saying he needed to tell him important things about taking care of Chan.
“Really, we’ll be fine Shua,” Seungcheol says reassuringly, snagging a piece of toast for himself. “Promise.”
Jisoo still looks a little unsure, but he nods, dashing out the door after a last reminder to stay out of trouble. Jeonghan leaves shortly after with a lazy wave of his hand, door shutting behind him, leaving Seungcheol alone in the apartment with a still sleeping Chan. Seungcheol yawns, heading back to his room after taking a look at the clock to catch a few more hours of shut eye until Jisoo’s brother wakes up.
“Hyung?”
Seungcheol stirs a little, blinking as he rolls over only to startle when he comes face to face with a wide eyed Chan.
“Uh, Chan, you’re up!” he coughs, sitting up on his bed. “How long have you been awake?”
Chan frowns, staring at him before padding out of his room. Seungcheol quickly follows him, watching as the child wanders into the living room and the kitchen, calling for his hyung. He opens his mouth, about to say he’s right there before Chan calls for Jisoo hyung, a confused and scared expression on his face.
“Oh, Channie, Jisoo hyung’s at work,” Seungcheol says quickly, jogging over to him. Chan looks up at him, eyes already shiny with tears. Seungcheol panics a little, he’s gotta calm Chan down before he starts crying.
“Work?” Chan asks, clutching his elephant plushie tightly. Seungcheol nods, bending down to his level, explaining that Jisoo will be home before dinner. Silently he prays that’ll be enough for Chan to calm down as the boy pouts at him.
“Hyung come back later?” Chan asks after a few moments, still looking a bit unsure. Seungcheol nods, petting his head as he promises Jisoo will come back.
“Do you want breakfast buddy?” he asks, holding out his hand for Chan to take. Chan hesitates a little before grabbing his hand and nodding, letting Seungcheol help him sit at the table. Seungcheol opens the refrigerator, grabbing the milk and a couple ingredients for their breakfast, pouring the milk in a cup for Chan and setting it in front of him.
“I’ll have breakfast ready soon,” he grins, ruffling Chan’s hair. Chan nods, setting his plushie on the table before drinking the milk and Seungcheol has to hold back an ‘aww’ at how cute Chan looks.
So far, so good. Seungcheol smiles to himself as he starts making eggs; he can totally take care of a child. He’s only met Chan a few times before he came to live with them, and he seems like a pretty mild mannered, if not slightly hyper, kid.
Once he’s done preparing their breakfast, he sets a plate in front of Chan, chuckling as Chan thanks him and eagerly digs in.
“So what do you wanna do today kiddo?” Seungcheol asks, cutting into his pancake. Chan puffs his cheeks in thought, nose scrunching up cutely.
“Park!” he says happily, munching on a yummy pancake. Seungcheol grins, telling him they can go after they finish eating and get dressed. It takes a bit of chasing and playful wrestling after they eat for Seungcheol to get Chan dressed and ready, but soon enough they’re walking to the nearby park, Chan babbling about elephants on the way there.
He lets Chan run off to the playground after taking his backpack and elephant plushie, settling himself on a bench not too far away from the playground. Seungcheol smiles, keeping a watchful eye on Chan as he runs around with the other children there. Jeonghan’s so gonna lose that bet; it’s only been about twoish hours and he still hasn’t called Jisoo. They really didn’t have to worry, he’s more than capable of looking after Chan.
“WAHHHHH!”
Or maybe not. He’s immediately on his feet, eyes darting over the playground looking for Chan only to breathe a sigh of relief after seeing it was someone else’s kid screaming. He sinks back onto the bench trying to calm down a bit as he scans the playground for Chan, finally relaxing when he sees the child on the monkey bars. God, that nearly gave him a heart attack. After that little incident, he keeps a closer eye on Chan making sure he doesn’t get hurt.
Jeonghan yawns, glancing over at the clock on his desk, only to groan when he sees the time. He’s still got quite of bit of time left before he can leave, even though he’s pretty much done with all the work for today. Maybe he should check up on Seungcheol, make sure he isn’t getting into any trouble of anything. Yeah, he’s gonna do that, he’s due for a break anyway. He grabs his phone and mug off his desk, heading to the break room as he dials Seungcheol’s number.
“Hello?” “Yo, Cheol, still alive?” he asks with a snarky grin, filling up his mug with water. He sniggers, he can practically hear Seungcheol scowling at him over the phone as his friend tells him to shut up.
“We’re over at the park right now,” Seungcheol says, sounding a bit out of breath. Jeonghan hums, leaning against the counter.
“Why do you sound like you ran a marathon though?” he asks, taking a sip of water. He smiles when he hears Chan babbling over the phone while Seungcheol tells him he got roped into playing a game of tag with Chan and the other children at the park.
“We’re actually about to go eat something,” Seungcheol adds, making sure Chan has his backpack and plushie with him before they start walking to the bus stop. “You wanna come with?”
“Are you paying?” Jeonghan asks, laughing when Seungcheol gives him an exasperated yes. “Alright, you pick the place and I’ll meet you guys there.”
Jeonghan heads back to his desk after hanging up, making sure to drop by his boss’s office to tell him he’s heading out for lunch soon. He plops into his chair with a sigh, opening up his program and fiddling around some more with it until he gets Seungcheol’s text with the location of a local sandwich shop nearby. With a grin, he grabs his things and heads out of the office. Thankfully it’s actually not that far of a walk, and he can see Jisoo’s brother running around Seungcheol when he gets close to the shop.
“Haven’t called Shua yet?” he asks as he reaches the two, bending down to ruffle Chan’s hair. Seungcheol rolls his eyes, flipping him off as he opens the door for them, ushering them into the shop.
“Nope,” Seungcheol says, holding Chan’s hand to keep him from running off. “Seriously, you two gotta have more faith in me, as you can tell, I’m perfectly fine looking after him.”
“You say that now, but what about later?” Jeonghan teases as they get in line. Seungcheol rolls his eyes, ignoring him in favor of picking up Chan and asking him what kind of sandwich he wants.
As soon as they finish ordering, they grab a table outside on the patio at Chan’s insistence. Jeonghan smiles as Chan eagerly tells him about what he did at the park, laughing when he catches Seungcheol dozing off in the corner of his eye.
“I think you tired out Cheol hyung, Channie,” he says with a grin, nudging Chan to look over at Seungcheol. Chan giggles, reaching over and patting Seungcheol’s cheeks, telling him to wake up. Seungcheol groans, telling him he is awake.
“You have way too much energy kiddo,” he says fondly, patting Chan’s head. Chan just smiles proudly at that, brightening up when he sees a server coming to their table with their sandwiches.
“You’re getting old Cheol,” Jeonghan teases, biting into his sandwich. Seungcheol rolls his eyes, cutting Chan’s sandwich into smaller pieces. They eat in silence for a little bit, hunger taking over socializing for a bit. When they’re halfway through lunch, Jeonghan asks what they’re gonna do next, wiping a bit of sauce from Chan’s mouth.
“Haven’t decided yet,” Seungcheol shrugs, yawning a bit. “I’m down for a nap though. What do you think Chan?”
He frowns when he doesn’t get an answer from the child, looking down to find him staring off at something. He shares a look with Jeonghan, both of them looking in the direction of his gaze to find a family of three nearby laughing and chatting together.
Jeonghan bites his lip, looking down at Chan again, noticing his forlorn expression. He moves to kneel in front of Chan, asking quietly if he’s okay, gently squeezing his hand. Chan swallows, hesitating a little before shaking his head.
“I miss Mama and Appa,” he mumbles, tears beginning to well up in his eyes. Jeonghan nods understandingly, giving Chan’s elephant plushie to him, quietly comforting him. Seungcheol frowns, wondering what he can do before a thought comes to him.
“Do you wanna visit their graves Channie?” Seungcheol asks kindly, pulling out a tissue for him. Chan blinks up at him, nodding his head as he squeezing his plushie to his chest as he climbs off the chair, taking Seungcheol’s hand.
“I have to get back to work,” Jeonghan says quietly to Seungcheol, grabbing his bag. “But I’m gonna see if I can take off so I can go with you guys.”
“You don’t have to-” Seungcheol protests, pausing when Chan tugs at his hand.
“Han hyung come too?” Chan asks, looking between the two. Jeonghan smiles, bending down to his level as he tells him he can if Chan wants him to come. Chan nods at that, saying he wants Jeonghan to come too.
“Okay, Hyung’ll come too,” Jeonghan says with a kind smile, straightening up again before talking to Seungcheol. “Give me a few minutes to talk to my boss and then we can go.”
Seungcheol nods, leading them out of the shop before Jeonghan’s calling up his boss. Chan’s still a little quiet, lightly swinging Seungcheol’s hand back and forth as they wait for Jeonghan. A few minutes later Jeonghan hangs up, telling Seungcheol he got the okay to leave early.
“Do you wanna get something nice for your parents Chan?” Jeonghan asks as they head back to the bus stop. Chan nods before pointing at a nearby flower shop, saying he wants to get flowers for them as he tugs at Seungcheol’s hand.
A few minutes later, Chan’s roaming around the flower shop, frowning as he looks for the perfect flowers to take. Jeonghan keeps an eye on him while Seungcheol answers a text from Jisoo, asking if his little brother’s doing okay.
To: Shua
We’re fine, just ate lunch
To: Shua
Hannie got off early so he’s hanging with us for the rest of the day
From: Shua
Don’t get into any trouble! I gotta head back now but I’ll be home around usual time
From: Shua
Chinese sound good for dinner?
To: Shua
Sounds good to me
“Hyung!”
He looks up, laughing a little at the sight of Chan trying to hold a bouquet of lilies a little too big for him to handle without stumbling. Quickly he tucks his phone away and grabs the bouquet before Chan can fall over, ruffling his hair.
“Ready to go?” he asks as Jeonghan walks over, Chan’s backpack and plushie in his hand. Chan nods, grabbing their hands and tugging them out of the shop, telling them to hurry up. They both laugh at his eagerness before Jeonghan leads them to his car. Soon enough they’re on the way to the cemetery, Chan singing along to the radio.
When they get there, Chan’s quiet again, insisting on carrying the bouquet of lilies as they walk over to his parents’ grave. Seungcheol cleans the area a bit before Chan places the bouquet between the tombstones.
“Hyung, what do I do?” Chan asks, looking unsure of himself. Seungcheol crouches down to his level, suggesting that he tell his parents about what they did today. Jeonghan agrees with him, settling down on Chan’s other side, nudging at him to sit. After he does so, Chan’s quiet for a bit before he hesitantly starts talking, telling his parents about the fun he had with Cheol hyung and Han hyung.
Seungcheol and Jeonghan share a smile as Chan goes on, becoming more animated as time passes. He tells them about living with Soo hyung and all the yummy food he had before he gets quiet again, sniffling a little as he tells them he misses them.
“Soo hyung said heaven’s nice place,” he says, rubbing his eyes. “Said I see you much, much later.”
Jeonghan gently pats his head as Chan tells the tombstones he’ll be okay and not to worry about him because he has Soo hyung and hyung’s friends!
“I come visit again with Soo hyung too!” Chan says with a bright smile, though Seungcheol can see tear tracks on his cheeks. After bidding them a goodbye, Chan gets up, turning to them and saying they can go now.
“Do you feel a little better buddy?” Seungcheol asks, gently wiping Chan’s cheeks. Chan nods, taking his backpack from Jeonghan before they leave the cemetery. He ends up falling asleep on the drive back, cuddled up in the backseat with his plushie.
“He’s handling their death better than I thought,” Jeonghan says quietly, looking back at the sleeping child. Seungcheol hums, saying that Chan’s got a good support system helping him cope. His friend smiles, agreeing with that as they reach the outskirts of the city before asking Seungcheol to call Jisoo and let him know they’re on the way home.
Jisoo’s just finished setting the takeout on the coffee table when he hears the front door unlock. He jogs over to open it up, smiling at the sight of Chan fast asleep in Jeonghan’s arms as he lets his friends in.
“How was he?” he asks softly, shutting the door behind them before they sit on the couch.
“Energetic,” Seungcheol laughs, letting out a deep sigh as he sinks onto the couch. “You really didn’t need to worry at all Soo.”
Jisoo rolls his eyes, shoving at him playfully before he takes Chan from Jeonghan, telling them to dig in. While they’re doing just that, he gently pats Chan’s cheeks, murmuring for him to wake up. His brother whines, blinking blearily at him before he focuses, letting out an ecstatic squeal at the sight of his older brother.
“Hi Channie,” Jisoo laughs as Chan hugs him tightly, ruffling his hair. “Food’s ready, wanna eat yet?”
Chan nods eagerly, impatiently squirming as Jisoo fixes a plate for him while he tells his brother about what he did with Cheol and Han hyung today.
“We visited Mama and Appa too,” Chan tells him, digging in once Jisoo sets his plate in front of him. Jisoo frowns, looking at his friends at that.
“He saw a happy family while we were out and missed your parents,” Jeonghan explains with a sad smile. “So Cheol suggested we go visit them.”
Jisoo lets out a quiet ‘ah’ before Chan gets his attention again, telling Jisoo that he told Mama and Appa that they’ll visit again. As they eat dinner, Chan tells him more about today’s adventures, yawning a little when his plate’s nearly empty.
“Sleepy now?” Jisoo asks, wiping Chan’s mouth and smiling fondly when his brother nods. “Alright, bath time and then we’ll get you to bed squirt.”
“We’ll take care of clean up,” Seungcheol tells him, waving him off when Jisoo starts to protest. “You go take care of him.”
Jisoo nods gratefully, scooping Chan up in his arms as he carries him off to the bathroom, leaving Seungcheol and Jeonghan alone in the living room. When he finishes washing Chan up and tucking him in bed, Jisoo finds Seungcheol knocked out on the sofa and Jeonghan cleaning up the leftovers.
“He wasn’t kidding when he said Chan had way too much energy,” Jeonghan laughs. Jisoo rolls his eyes, helping Jeonghan clean up before they take the other couch after draping a blanket over Seungcheol.
“You visited my parents?” Jisoo asks quietly. After a nod from Jeonghan, he asks how Chan was during the visit, biting his lip a little.
“He told them about what we did today,” Jeonghan says with a smile. “And that he’ll be okay because you’re with him.”
He laughs a little at Jisoo’s surprised expression. “Shua, you’re a good brother,” Jeonghan says. “It’s because of you that he’s handling this so well. Have a little more faith in yourself.”
Jisoo smiles sheepishly, scratching the back of his neck. “I’ll try,” he says softly, rolling his eyes at Seungcheol’s snoring. “But it’s.. Difficult. Half the time I don’t even know if I’m doing things right and I don’t wanna screw things up with Chan.”
“You don’t need to do this all on your own,” Jeonghan reminds him, patting his shoulder. “Cheol and I are here to help you know. And before you say anything, no you’re not being burdensome, we’re happy to help out whenever you need us to.”
Jisoo sighs, leaning his head on Jeonghan’s shoulder, quietly thanking him. “If I didn’t have you and Cheol, I think I’d be a lot more overwhelmed.” He confesses, smiling fondly at a sleeping Seungcheol.
“That’s what we’re here for,” Jeonghan smiles. “We’re always gonna be here for you Shua, don’t forget that.”
Jisoo nods, yawning a bit as he gets comfortable, tugging another blanket over them. With a soft good night, he shuts his eyes, dozing off on Jeonghan’s shoulder. He may not know what the tomorrow’s gonna throw at him and Chan, but with Seungcheol and Jeonghan by his side, there’s no doubt they’ll get through it together.
