since i’m on my third mdzs brainrot of the year, let me just say: it’s enlightening how this story, spread over multiple volumes, goes over the simple but undeniably true reality that even while doing almost everything “right” you can still be horribly “wrong” in the eyes of society. how wei wuxian would bend over backwards to follow his morals (which have been narratively shown to be somewhat the standard) but still be condemned at large because he didn’t go about it the way that was perfectly compliant with what his social superiors and other authority figures expected of him. how “good” deeds in the mdzs world (and ours) will only be accepted and praised, coming from someone of lower social standing, if they are packaged in an unobstrusive manner–and sometimes, not even then. and it’s funny how some people miss that, how they wonder what would have happened if wei wuxian had been just a bit more tempered, a bit more subservient, a bit more polite. how the expectation of delivering his kindnesses in the most unhindering manner possible is somehow an acceptable train of thought–how the burden to do better is not unequivocally placed on people like JGS, Jiang Cheng, Nie Mingjue, the Lans, etc.

some people think that wei wuxian using demonic cultivation in the eyes of the cultivation world is his downfall. nevermind the fact that he literally isn’t practicing mo dao–this whole issue is NOT about what he’s doing, but about who he is. mxtx has made that clear at multiple points in the novels but the most glaring example is, ofcourse, how the nie sect is allowed to mess with resentful energy all they like and since they are a powerful enough sect, they face no social or political backlash for it–not in the way that wei wuxian does. even then, during the war, those people had no qualms against weaponising wei wuxian’s powers for their benefit. if it truly was about the dubious morality of using mo dao for them then wei wuxian should have been condemned from the get-go. but it’s not. it’s about the son of a servant wielding enough power to change the tides of a war and then surviving to tell the tale and continue to live with the kind of power that shouldn’t be held by someone of his station. it’s about people quaking in their boots because wei wuxian has shown himself as someone who won’t conform, who won’t become a dancing monkey for their tunes.

yes, wei wuxian is not some perfect angel saint but then, why the fuck should he be??? this expectation from some readers and the members of his world alike, that wei wuxian should have been the one to give it his all and more to avoid conflict is blasphemous. in the end, wei wuxian chose his path, stuck to his ideals, and went down throwing a big fuck you at the larger cultivation world’s back, while the rest failed to break the cycle of power abuse. the fact that it took them more than a year to see him to death is just a testament to how well wei wuxian handled things than some grace given by the cultivation world. the whole “wei wuxian’s first death was inevitable” is, for me, not about wei wuxian slowly spiralling and things getting out of hand. his death was inevitable because corrupt people with power will always choose to exploit and silence, will always choose to exert their will, will always choose to hurt those lower in the chain. and that is exactly what happened with the ambush and everything that led upto it.

DRAWTOBER #22 - Harmony is the Value by @maura-labingi and @little-smartass

They walk the rest of the way in pleasant silence; with the view out over the sprawling city of Lanling from Koi Tower, and the way the sunset paints the flowers and glinting gold buildings in soft pastel hues, and the sweet looks A-Yao keeps flashing him from under his eyelashes, it ought to be a perfect evening, and yet- Probably, it is just residual discomfort, but the deeper they walk into Koi Tower, the more he can feel his spiritual senses… twinging is the best description, like he’s walking on a sprained ankle. With all the beauty and warmth around him, having this strange but insistent pulsing of unease feels like listening to music played on a guqin with one single string out of tune. It doesn’t help that the whole place seems oddly deserted - corridors he has seen previously ringing with the footsteps of servants are conspicuously silent, side rooms usually full of cheerful bustle absent of guests. He can’t bear the idea of ruining this long-awaited reunion, though, so he pushes down the unpleasantness, down and down, and when A-Yao knocks on the door of a guest suite, and da-ge answers it, smile already blooming on his face - well. It’s easy to ignore. It's probably nothing.

the final fic in our trilogy, covering the immediate post-war aftermath! this is the part that deviates the furthest from canon, with all the changes leading up to it, and we wanted to use it to explore:

what would cultivation society look like post-war if the Jins weren't so dominant, and the sects had committed to working together to rebuild? how would that affect the political machinations of someone like JGS?

what would 3zun look like in a universe where nieyao are not pushed further apart by the war, and how would that change events moving forward?

how would JZX, having spent a significant time as a leader in the war, adjust to returning to life under his controlling parents? would a more active, confident JZX - with a Mianmian who has greater authority and a JYL who has greater confidence at his side - make different choices than in canon?

what if NHS continued to use the skills he honed during the war in peacetime, and made some unexpected allies that kept him way more in the loop than in canon?

Question if you could rework Talon how would you do it? Like, if you have complete and total control of the character, can change things as far as the beginning or just progress his story. You can do whatever.

OKAY so i actually typed out a long ass response but then it got deleted so this makes me very sad faklsdjkljsfd but im gonna try and repeat myself. Disclaimer ofc this is going to be very long and its also just my personal opinion. No hate if anyone’s ideal talon is different.

So i can divide the changes i would make into like, 3 categories.

CORE DESIGN:

Okay im pretty sure i’ve said smth similar before but i cant remember. Basically i think talon’s core design fantasy conflicts with his design to an egregious degree. Riot’s goal is supposed to be to make the champ design fit the fantasy, but we’re supposed to believe he’s this cutthroat, efficient, STEALTHY assassin, who can kill with no mercy and climb all over the map and yet he’s got this jingle-jangle cape and also a hokey, non-retractable armblade. (this pisses me off bc zed has a retractable blade. So they DO exist.) also wild rift pissed me off bc when they redid their design of him they didn’t fix any of the issues and in fact made the armblade worse. How is he supposed to climb? It fundamentally conflicts with what he’s supposed to be. Get rid of both of them both. banished.

Granted, both of these things make his design more unique, but i dont think talon needs them. In fact their existence makes his own thematic design worse, as someone who’s supposed to blend in, supposed to hide in a crowd and be a nobody. He’s supposed to have a generic design. Maybe they can fuck with his cape a lil bit, but he doesn’t need to have this super notable look to him. Look at akshan. He’s just a shirtless dude (in a repurposed sol uniform) but he wears it well fr. 

As a side note: talon’s design in ‘the name of the blade’ is pretty good as a starting off point but it still has the stupid cape.

To be clear they will never change this i think. Talon’s armblade and cape are too ingrained in his old design so they’ll never be fixed, and this problem with it not matching his fantasy will only get worse over time.

Also i think base leblanc also looks ridiculous and is in the same boat.

IN GAME:

A new model + animations ofc! Hood toggle, + extra animation variants when vaulting over stuff. (over thin walls, thick walls, and side hops.) an idle knife flip. (oh and new splasharts ofc.) a new voice!! My current problem with the voice is that imo he sounds too old and deep, and also he suffers from being old (i hc him as between 23-25) and having few lines. Tbh i think talon would rock a raspy transmasc voice, or at least a raspy voice, prone to cracking bc he’s not super talkative.

random voice line ideas

New interactions with katarina, swain prolly, sett (as a treat) and ezreal. etc.

New joke response: “i dont get it” or “you talk too much.”

New taunt response: “be quiet.”

“Leave me alone” or “you’re annoying” after killing someone.

“I can climb that” when seeing sett or other eligible champs, both masc and fem. bisexual energy.

Lots of vocalizations. “Hah,” hrmphs, occasional “hm.”

A focus on shorter, more straightforward sentences as opposed to long wordy ones.

he will trigger more voicelines when by himself (for eg: in the jg) as opposed to around other champions. (yes im dreaming big.)

as an 'away from people or in the jg' voiceline: whistling. not like a tune or anything, just a few notes.

LORE:

Okay this is the really big one. I’m just gonna go all over the place.

Step 1: make him aro. MAKE HIM ARO. it doesn't need to be a big reveal or anything. Actually it’d be better if all of talon’s lore was lowkey. It can just be smth mentioned or implied on the side, but canon nonetheless. I hc him as bi too but the aro is way more important to me. WHILE WE'RE AT IT. riot please release an aromantic pride icon pls. every year i foolishly hope.

Step 2: i’d also make him trans. This isn’t a hard need for me but it makes his story/character stronger. Also i think its great to have open lgbt rep but i would like rep for people who are stealth too. Talon would be that. He likes to blend in, he likes to be unknown and invisible, he doesn’t want too much attention and he wants to be perfect. It’s pretty on the nose. I know people would be mad bc like, noo he wasn’t trans before, but i just dont care. My ideal talon is trans or at least gnc/nb-coded if amab. Also while we’re at it i’d also either give him autism with my autism ray-gun, or i’d just make him autism-coded. It just fits him. I think he realistically has anxiety and prolly some other personality disorder, if not a touch of tism.

Step 3: make the timeline of events around when he was adopted all the way to the kat comic more definite. Like how old was he when he was ‘adopted?’ (imo at least 13 but i can explain in a not already super long post pfpfpf). Retcon some of the kat comic. I think the most annoying part of it is how much he talks. I think riot thinks he’s like, a boring character, but he’s not. He’s just a NUANCED character. There are many different assassins in league that fit specific niches. (zed is evil shadow ninja assassin, akali is rogue wildcard assassin, pyke is the crazed executioner, yone is righteous, fizz is silly, katarina is proud and showy.) talon is already supposed to fit the most typical ‘assassin niche.’ like assassins creeds. Just let him be that. You don’t have to make him talk a ton, just amplify what’s already there. He’s a perfectionist, he does things in the most efficient way, he’s got layers and abandonment issues, and i think something that’s overlooked by riot is how he’s prolly a victim of manipulation and abuse. In fact i’d make that very clear, even by revealing that talon can’t read. That would already mean smth is up.

In terms of the kat comic: Cut out the whole part where talon monologues like an idiot at the end. While we’re at it, have kat kill the king, not that other guy. I think its a more interesting tie in and adds more character conflict. I actually hate how ‘good’ katarina was in the comic like she can afford to have more awfulness and then visibly grow out of it. Idc. continuing, i’d make it so that talon really thought marcus left, and then marcus returns just before the kat comic events and manipulates talon into trying to kill her. Idk this makes so much more sense to me i dont know why they had talon know about it the whole time, as if it didn’t kill his entire story that we’d been following for years. Like it was such an easy change to still respect what story he already had??? IT MAKES ME MAD. It also allows talon to have more obvious conflict with killing kat, bc their sibling connection improves in marcus' absence.

ALSO i like his scar in the kat comic but i’d like it differently instead of straight down. I feel like eye scars are pretty like, they all look the same yk. Can we vary it up or maybe give him a few more. He’s so pretty in the kat comic but he deserves more scars.

Also, in his high noon story i would not have fucking talon dish out the expository dialogue again. I love that story but it makes me mad how he just word vomits this whole story. Just put that shit at the beginning and leave him out of it. Or maybe find some way to explain that doesn’t involve clumsy paragraphs of expository dialogue. Sorry, no hate to the author but i think a character reciting a whole fable to someone is amateurish, lazy, and a disservice to his character. I would also make him and Yone the protagonists of high noon gothic as an au. Ive been meaning to make a post about it but they parallel each other very nicely. A demon going holy and a good man going hellish.

If i could i would legit canon-ship him with sett or with akshan. But thats ofc very indulgent and relies on setup.

uhhh extra bits that im thinking of:

retcon the going to shurima after failing to kill kat bit. i want him to fester. i would rather him be totally lost for a second and observe the wreckage of his lost family.

imo he never meets cass or soreana, because he enters the family in his teens when they're both already in shurima.

i think a really cool way to deliver talon's lore would be via other champ lore that happens to have him in it. with a consistent voice you'd be able to piece him together while still maintaining the theme of him being on the outside, lowkey.

OH I'D CHANGE HIS ICON BTW. his character icon doesn't look like him. dear god. dark brown hair pls, amber eyes. let it be so.

if i could i would strengthen the anarchistic themes he has going on in his skin lines. yeah let him go apeshit why not. let him be a thorn. let him break apart.

im pretty sure he's canonically short (looked the same size as kat in the comic) but if not. he is now. sorry bud.

oh as a final note. right now his parents are just Gone. but i would make sure that they abandoned him. its the strongest way to cause him to attach to marcus.

and ofc to reiterate, these are just my opinions. people can have their own versions of talon for sure, its all ok!

It pains me how nearly every single character treated JGY badly. Stunning that he isn't a total monster honestly

I mean I'm sure if you asked certain corners of this fandom, you'd find plenty of people eager to discuss with you in great detail just how monstrous they believe he truly is!! thankfully we are not in that corner of this fandom; we're in the corner composed of people who paid attention to his chapters and who don't take everything said by his every critic and enemy at face value 🤌

while I do believe that jgy's empathy programming is maybe wired a bit differently from other people's (or perhaps was just deeply and fundamentally altered as a direct result of the circumstances of his childhood and the cruelty he endures almost daily until jgs's death), I wish more attention was paid to jgy's many acts of kindness, compassion and generosity, things he does in the text for no reason at all other than the desire to help someone because it is within his power to do so.

it's an act of selfless bravery for young meng yao to throw himself between his mother and the john who is trying to hurt her, and he's injured seriously in the process when the john ends up shoving him down the brothel stairs in response to his intervention

young meng yao has nothing at all to gain through allowing himself to be beaten and abused by wen xu's cultivators while in hiding with lxc during the war--in fact, he could potentially gain quite a lot in the short term or long term through cooperating with the qishan wen, because what other connections does he have? but he doesn't! he protects lxc because he wants to protect him, even if it costs him quite a lot to do so

we know that jgy loves spoiling nhs and showering him with gifts, and I know there's plenty of ~discourse~ around whether he's doing this to drive a wedge between nhs and nmj (yawn), but I just genuinely love how clear the text is that not only does nhs just delight in getting fancy new stuff from jgy every time he visits, but these gifts are specifically tailored to nhs's interests in art and calligraphy, because jgy has been paying attention to nhs as a person.

just--look at how focused nhs is on comparing the inscriptions on the fans, he's clearly intellectually engaged by what he's doing, and nmj could not give less of a fuck. it makes me very angry on nhs's behalf, and at this point nmj hasn't even kicked jgy down the jinlintai steps yet!!

it also kills me how overjoyed nhs is by the arrival of his knight in shining armour, even if he is mostly just glad that nmj is gonna redirect his temper at someone else for a while lmfao. but like it's clear at this moment that 1) nhs is just happy to see jgy, and 2) nmj, while still going through life with a hair-trigger temper, is clearly still capable of finding nhs's reaction to jgy as something funny/amusing, and not solely a source of anger/resentment. makes me very 🥺

look!! /gestures @ all of that, look at how jgy tries to intercede on nhs's behalf here with nmj (and please appreciate with me nhs's precious and emphatic agreement lmfao hush a-sang you are not helping). I think the bits I highlighted below just emphasize how tuned in jgy is to nhs's interests and how seriously he takes them:

the things that jump off the page and grab me by the throat here are nhs's immediate fascination with the cultivation technique that jgy and nmj are discussing, because you'd think that anything even tangentially affiliated with cultivation would be something nmj would want to nurture an interest in. but beyond that just the confirmation in the text that jgy, knowing nhs does have an interest in music, previously procured and delivered him a first edition of something that clearly held nhs's interest and so enthralled him that he is unable to stop himself from talking about it! he's so excited, and intellectually engaged by the gifts that jgy has brought him--and then nmj just... shuts him down so completely that he flees the room. just. what the fuck, da-ge.

and it's pretty clear that jgy is also thinking the same thing, though he clearly can't come out and say "respectfully, chifeng-zun, but what the fuck," and still expect to keep his neck attached to his shoulders. so he uses the only effective tools at his disposal to try to get through to nmj: speech and diplomacy. and I will never understand why fandom ascribes such nefarious intent to what he says 👆👆👆 right here. "brother, if you're concerned for huaisang, softer words would do no harm." "it isn't that huaisang is a good-for-nothing, but that his heart lies somewhere else." "the only person whom I can't discern is you."

(tangent: if my math is right (end of sunshot to nmj's qi deviation), this is a 4-5 year long stretch of time during which we see meng yao, and then jin guangyao, working himself to the literal bone trying to understand and get through to nie mingjue. it clearly frustrates him that he has failed at doing so, and he does not hide this from nmj! which is why it galls me that nmj does not do even a tenth of this work in trying to understand jgy in return post-sunshot.)

...wow this turned into a post deconstructing jgy's gift-giving as an expression of his understanding and acceptance of nhs as a human being, and I make no apologies for it.

but maybe nie huaisang should apologize to his san-ge's fierce corpse just saying 🍵

I saw your post about being shocked that CQL!JGY being unsympathetic and have to say that…I agree??? Like, JGY is my second-favorite and I felt so bad for him the whole time even if he was doing the bad stuffs.

Yeah!! Don't get me wrong, JGY's got plenty of fully valid potential dealbreakers, but those things are true in the novel, too. (The exception, IMO, is Qin Su's situation; it's a mess in both canons, but his show self makes it actively worse.)

Even the change in his relationship with NMJ I'm not super pressed about, because Novel!NMJ sounds like a violent asshole whose main purpose is to be a dismembered plot device, whereas the one in CQL is an actual character. My sympathizing with NMJ doesn't prevent me from also sympathizing with JGY, or even taking JGY's side in the divorce! Sympathizing with both of them just makes me more invested in their conflict, because I can see why each feels the other's betrayal so keenly. The novel dynamic just has me looking at NMJ and going "lmao deserve," which is much less enjoyable because neither the narrative nor the other characters agree.

CQL seems to generally downplay or outright eliminate the political or social elements of the overarching conflicts. JGY's one of the characters hardest-hit by this, for obvious reasons, but it harms everyone else too. JC and WWX's sacrifices don't hit as hard without an understanding of the special status cultivation conveys and the elitism within the jianghu. If JGS is just a douche and not a powerful threat after Sunshot, the other young sect leaders (NMJ included!) appear spineless in their failure to oppose him.

What it attempts to do instead is replace the political conflicts with personal ones, and since this is a fantasy world rather than historical fiction, it largely works for me. I don't think anyone who watched JGY and his big wide woobie eyes get punted down the stairs, keep a straight face while being bullied, limp his way politely out of the Unlean Realm, be told he's unfit to hold his baby nephew, and generally experience life as one long customer service shift from hell and STILL not feel bad for him is gonna change their tune with context. Like, nobody's out there like "well, I thought he was the irredeemable worst, but then I found out about his exemplary public infrastructure projects, so now I think he's swell!" The exemplary public infrastructure projects (and the added details from his tragic backstory, especially him being #1 Mama's Boy) are there as VINDICATION for those of us who got won over by the sad woobie eyes.

What made you ship it? Well, the onscreen chemistry didn't hurt, but honestly when I finished MDZS I just felt really bad for LXC, even though at that point I wasn't actively shipping him with anyone. But I felt really bad for him, and started looking for fics where he has a happy ending. For SOME REASON, it turns out that fics where LXC have a happy ending, tend to be Xiyao fics! And so I fell in love with JGY as well, and started shipping it.

What are your favourite things about the ship? I love how they're so in tune with each other. They just vibe, you know?

Is there an unpopular opinion I have on the ship? I don't know, I really don't know...I guess in the context of the broader fandom 'Xiyao isn't abusive and LXC isn't some airheaded himbo who has no idea what kind of Nefarious Shit JGY was up to' is an unpopular opinion, but I can't really think of anything that would be unpopular within the, you know, xiyao ghetto of fandom.

Why don’t you ship it? I just don't see it. For me, ruyao has got weird incest vibes, maybe because Wen Ruohan treated Meng Yao better than his shitheel father (or almost anyone else in the jianghu) ever did. I do love reading about the two of them, but not in a romantic sense. Although I could probably be convinced, but then again...where's Lan Xichen while all this is going on? Because as I've said elsewhere, a Jin Guangyao who isn't utterly captivated by Lan Xichen is a JGY I don't know what to do with.

What would have made you like it? if Wen RuoHan was Lan Xichen? haha no, i don't know. Maybe if it's like an arranged marriage thing where JGS sells him off, I could see it working? But the problem is that JGY is always in love with LXC, so what happens there?

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it? Wen RuoHan treated Meng Yao better than almost anyone else in the jianghu. I have no doubt that with the application of only a small amount of Wiles, Meng Yao could have become Wen-furen and ruled at Wen RuoHan's side, and he would have been happy, and WRH would have reformed his murdering ways, and the jianghu would never have been so well-run.

It's so funny that when tayjoe were together swifties(not you sweetie😘😘) were literally sh*tting on harry and made fun of him for writing 'I love you'(which was sweet af) and looking sad at bbmas. And when tayjoe broke up they were calling him YB(🤢)and making poor man jokes. Yet after m*** h**** happened they are literally begging for both of them lol. And the amount of people I have seen who are predicting a haylor reunion is insane. I always thought no one took their relationship as anything beyond a fling yet even people in reddit(biggest anti haylors and the ones who hate harry ) knows about the 2014 phase and thinks they would give it a shot. I am not overly invested as in I'll be happy if they date but I will support any relationship they have(as long as it's not matt Healy). But I definitely didn't know people thought of haylor as anything beyond pr and I am shocked in the best way possible.

is now an appropriate time to say how horrendously some fans treated joe for actual years over nothing? calling him a nepo boyfriend (what does that even mean), calling him poor/jobless/boring, accusing him of all sorts of baseless things (the DV hand signal, for example), anons on here harassing blogs by saying she didn't care about him and he was a joke, i've never seen someone treated so badly for quietly minding his business and trying to stay in his lane. idk how tuned in he ever was to any of that noise, and i hope not at all, but that alone would become unbearable for a lot of people after awhile. and like i said before, we have no idea what happened between them and it's not our place to know (unless she decides to tell us), but there's no concrete reason to believe he betrayed her in some massive way right now. people grow apart. the dissolution of a six+ year relationship is going to leave hurt and scars and wreckage even if it WAS somewhat amicable, because you're losing a whole life you've built together, and whatever plans you might have had for the future. so of course she's hurting, i'm sure he is too, but i'm just not ready yet to skewer him and put him on the list with JM, JG, and CH as this terrible partner when all we knew was him being a good and decent and kind one for years (from more commentary than just taylor's). the tweets begging for joe to fight for her and to come back are funny, but also very sad - it's like the epitome of you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone. (i also don't think ANY of us were prepared for this massive of a shift in one month's time. during tour. with a re-recording coming soon. it's a lot to process.)

then with harry, i've never understood making fun of what he wrote if you're a fan of what she writes, because they're both drawing on confessional personal experiences? where is the logic? he's the only instance where we've gotten the other side of the conversation! i think the (totally idiotic) pr accusation started to really die down several years ago as more and more people got into the truth of their relationship and when he repeatedly praised her songwriting (the only people who accuse them of that now are detached from reality akljsdkljf). but yeah it's quite the mood switch to see the subreddits bringing him up in a positive way and acknowledging that he's a sweet and talented guy after ripping him to shreds for no reason last year. :/ although that's what he deserves to have said!

i've also never seen swifties and even people who don't like her so united in an opinion as they are in collectively being in shambles over this development. 😭 and as i said before, there's a difference between a bad boy edgy persona and actively causing harm with bigoted words/actions - you can only use racism as "satire" so many times before it stops being a joke, or make sexist comments and follow someone like andr*w t*te without being legitimately misogynistic. i just. *head in hands* someone on the sub said, "people keep saying 'let her live her life' - and i absolutely am, but i don't have to be comfortable with the way she's doing it when it involves racist boys, and i don't have to support it," and someone else said, "being hurt can make you do crazy things, and she is only a human just like all of us," and i honestly feel there's room for both thoughts here. we can understand it wholly and let her live, and that doesn't mean we have to support it ourselves.

I'm going to pick ones I've frequented in the last year, since I usually just cycle through my favorite tracks by various artists! this blog is still somewhat fresh so i don't have a TON of mutuals atm, but i'll tag a couple silly goofies i know @hotshotshitshow @21ozofpiss @thebrightestlodge

LOVE- Foetus

Hands down has become one of my favorite albums of all time. In general Foetus has become one of my favorite artists within the last year, but this album is the bestest in my opinion. Foetus has been a catalyst for me better understanding what exactly I enjoy most in my favorite music and why, especially this album. I love most of the songs and some are prone to making me tear up. Sometimes its the sheer emotions tied to the music, other times its the beauty of the instrumentals. For people who are unfamiliar with JG Thirwell's stuff, Love serves as a good introduction to his sound as well as showcases all the fun little places he likes to take his music to (one of my favorite things about Foetus in general). Its unfortunately one of those albums where the lyrics to all my favorite songs exist nowhere on the internet.

COMMUNION- Septicflesh

Got really into Septicflesh last year when I was in my winterly souslborne fugue state. Artistically I don't think they're that groundbreaking. As a symphonic metal band they walk a very thin line, but the fact that they are a symphonic DEATH metal band has kept them from going overboard with their concepts and dooming themselves to the depths of egregious corniness. I like what they've been trying to do and have a massive appreciation for their technical skills! Their orchestral tunes are very theatrical in a way that makes my skin vibrate violently with excitement! This album in particular became an instant fave. It's concept is very clear and concise and shows just how talented the band members are as musicians but also as COMPOSERS. All the songs flow together naturally. Its one of the very few albums I will sit and listen to from beginning to end on repeat. They are Greek and as someone who is trying to learn the language, that's a plus, but it seems that they utilize Greek less and less as time goes on.

THE GREAT ANNIHILATOR- Swans

The emotional intensity of the album is what gets me, which I suppose is pretty typical for Swans lol. But the past year has been a ever-turning sphere of vicious emotions for me and somewhat of a year of understanding. For me there is a feeling of bitter longing that lingers when I listen to this album. This album often gives me clear and emotionally complex visuals to wrap up in each song. Not something that I'd like to describe as "relatable", but maybe that is the case.

AS HARD AS YOU CAN- LustSickPuppy

An aggressive EP. If you like MachineGirl you'll probably like LustSickPuppy (he produces for LustSick sometimes). Honestly I come back mostly for the songs that were originally released as singles. To put it simply, its a good one to revisit when you're angry or feeling like being bad to the bone haha

Pretty typical Monday. I did my usual morning stuff. I keep having to push through my tiny workout which is a good thing I guess. Also probably because I do it so early in the morning, its hard for my body to be ready so early. I had leftovers for breakfast which helped me start streaming earlier than usual lately.

I joined BR and JG in their server call while I streamed and that was lots of fun as usual. Today I had no commissions lined up so I sketched 3 which sucked, its a lot of work to be doing the sketch phase for so long and switching gears multiple times. I ended a little early after working on something of my own for a bit too. I think in the discussion today, BR thought she was turning me on to vore but aside from some conceptual interest, I doubt it's my kind of thing on a deeper level.

For lunch I wasn't too hungry so I made a can of soup and some cheese and crackers. I watched a couple episodes of Summer Camp Island since it's been my chill show the past couple days. I thought about what it must look like to be an evolved ape sitting in my room watching a screen and it weirds me out every time I imagine it. Its so unnatural but it also makes a lot of sense. Ive also been practicing with my bb gun when I take the dogs out and I'm getting a good feel for how much power I should give it at different ranges and how to aim differently. Im having fun.

In the afternoon I did the request and personal drawing in DV's server. It was chill at first but then the more annoying people started joining. I worked on a really good idea of mine that I was afraid to start because of how daunting the pose and stuff might be but I knew I had to try and it's coming out good. I need to learn to have more faith in myself because I almost always get the job done. After that I finished up the book club world and posted it publicly but I wanna make some small changes before using it.

This evening I tuned into Twitch and hopped on the Minecraft server out of call so I could do some digging. DS was free so we chilled while I did Minecraft and then watched Sailor Moon while I ate dinner. We also watched the new Wild Manes and an episode of Summer Camp Island. I wanted to put more time into the Monster High game tonight because I do wanna get around to finishing it.

While she transitioned to bed, I hopped quickly into Minecraft with BR and them and goofed around until puzzle time. I'm actually getting excited about playing with them.

Puzzles tonight were hard for some reason. They were kinda bad. It ended up making me late for bed and my routines. But not by too much. Im saving dishes for tomorrow morning.
