They're both efficient and brilliant, but the biggest difference between SNW Christine and TOS Christine is that SNW Christine has Shiv Roy/Herbert West vibes, and TOS Christine has Shauna Shipman/Edna Krabappel/Dee Reynolds vibes. I love both, but I personally relate more to the latter.

Cobra Kai Season 3: Does Young Kreese Redeem Cobra Kaiâs Founding Sensei?
https://ift.tt/3q87H7F
This article contains Cobra Kai spoilers.
Cobra Kai season 3 revealed the backstory we didnât know we wanted â the harrowing Vietnam experience of Cobra Kaiâs biggest villain, Sensei John Kreese (Martin Kove). Cobra Kai has been on point when it comes to filling in the personal histories of their characters. The writing team of Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Bob Dearden have keen eyes for details and find reasonable justifications for the actions of its villains. Johnnyâs (William Zabka) abusive father Sid (Ed Answer) has provided some redemption to his characterâs initial villainy. But Kreese has remained villainous throughout the entire franchise. We donât need to rehab all the villains, do we?Â
Kreeseâs origin tale is told across three episodes. Despite their brevity, theyâre packed with clever Easter eggs for fans to find over repeated viewings and tricky red herrings that toy with fan expectations. They also give us clues to what season 4 might bring.Â
Enlisting Kreese and His Son
Episode 2 âNurture vs. Natureâ begins with the grill of that iconic yellow 1947 Ford Deluxe, the very model that received Danielâs (Ralph Macchio) wax on wax off treatment. As the car pulls into a soda shop, the driver is a cocky kid in a varsity jacket with a bullying attitude. He even says âTheyâre the opponent. You donât show them mercy,â but in a quick Cobra Kai red herring, itâs not Kreese. The owner of that Ford is the first bully of the canon. Young Kreese (Barrett Carnahan) is his server who gets bullied mercilessly.Â
The exquisite irony here is in the casting. Playing the Varsity Captain David is Jesse Kove, the son of actor Martin Kove. Itâs a deliciously brilliant play by Cobra Kai. The first person to bully anyone in the history of the franchise and set off the chain of events that led to the formation of Kreeseâs ultimate villainy is played by the actorâs son.Â
The rest of the flashback scenes reveal how Young Kreeseâs hard luck life became the building blocks of his character. His mother committed suicide and is branded as crazy, giving rise to the implication that Kreese may have inherited some of his motherâs mental illness. Kreese is a naturally gifted fighter. When pushed, he is able to defend himself against the Varsity Captain and his thug buddy, and steal Davidâs girlfriend Betsy (Emily Marie Palmer). However, with few options for advancement at the soda shop, he enlists for the Vietnam War and heads out for basic training at Monterey. He wants to be a hero.
Episode 2 has an unusually redemptive moment for the present-day Kreese. We see him do something good for a change. Kreese reaches out to Tory (Peyton List), offering her free tuition to come back to his Cobra Kai Dojo. While heâs visiting her, he picks up on the fact that she is being sexually harassed by her landlord, Rodney (Grayson Berry). Kreese returns and solves that for her in his usual Cobra Kai way, by striking first, striking hard and showing no mercy. Although recruiting Tory back into his fold serves his own selfish purposes, he does get her out of a sticky situation, but itâs not enough to redeem him entirely.
Prisoner of War
Episode 6 âKing Cobraâ takes Young Kreese to Vietnam in 1968, where he is pulled aside by Captain Turner (Terry Serpico) to join his special team. Serpico bears a passing resemblance to actor Anthony Michael Hall, so much so that many fans thought it was him, sparking a wave of chatter on the web and subsequent articles refuting the mistaken identity. Given the playfulness of Cobra Kai casting, perhaps Hall will have a cameo in season 4.Â
Turner is the second significant bully to shape Kreeseâs villainy. He instructs Young Kreese in the martial art he learned in Korea from Master Kim Sun-Yung and itâs not Karate. Itâs Tang Soo Do. This resolves an issue that martial arts savvy fans have had with the series since the original films. The martial arts choreographer for The Karate Kid was Master Pat E. Johnson, who also played the Referee throughout the original trilogy. Johnson is a black belt in Tang Soo Do under Chuck Norris and well respected within the martial world. Martial arts aficionados always knew that the style propagated in the Cobra Kai Dojo was more like Tang Soo Do than Karate, so the quick clarification was welcomed. Despite this being Chuck Norrisâ foundation style, most Americans donât know enough about the martial arts to know about Tang Soo Do even today. During the era when the Cobra Kai Dojo was founded, Tang Soo Do school owners advertised Karate instead as a marketing ploy so this tiny rectification resolved a lot for martial savvy fans of the show. Â

Cobra Kai: How the Showâs Martial Arts Level Up in Season 3
By Gene Ching
Zabka continued to study under Johnson after the original film wrapped and that still shows in his fight scenes in Cobra Kai. And given that season 4 is headed back to the All-Valley Karate Tournament, Johnson would make for a great returning cameo.
Young Kreese pulls two of his comrades into Captain Turnerâs special team, Twig (Nick Marini) and Ponytail (Seth Kemp) teasing another major cameo that fans are anticipating for season 4 â Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith), the main villain from The Karate Kid Part III. Silver was Kreeseâs old war buddy and he rocked a sleezy ponytail years before Steven Seagal broke into the movies. Silver has been referenced throughout Cobra Kai, and many fans believe the phone call Kreese makes at the end of season 3 is to him, so his inclusion in Young Kreeseâs Vietnam years was essential.Â
Turner establishes the foundation of the Cobra Kai creed while training Kreese, Twig and Ponytail when he espouses his philosophy âNo hesitation, no second thoughts and no mercy.â Itâs only a short jump from that to âStrike First, Strike Hard, No Mercy.â However, their mission goes awry. Radio feedback gives away Ponytailâs position as he is laying explosives in the enemy camp and the whole team is captured. And then, shockingly, Ponytail is executed right in front of Young Kreese, Captain Turner and Twig. Itâs another superb red herring. Clearly, Ponytail is not Silver. Twig is Silver.  Â
Twigâs parting line to Kreese is âI owe you man, you saved my ass. Anything you need, Iâm there for you, your whole life. You hear me Johnny? Your whole life. I owe you.â Weâre all expecting payback in season 4.
The Snake Pit of PTSD
The Kreese back story concludes in the season finale âDecember 19.â As Captain Turnerâs special team is imprisoned in a bamboo cage, Kreese blames himself for their failure. Turner taunts him about it, deepening the psychological damage. The weight of that guilt surely drives Kreeseâs psychosis.Â
Their captors force Kreese to fight Turner to the death over a snake pit. Cobra Kai overplays that. Thereâs a lot of snakes in that pit, dozens of them, but they appear to be constrictors, not cobras. When Young Kreese kicks Turner into the pit, we can hear them striking, but constrictors donât strike. They constrict. Itâs a picky point, and itâs understandable that the show creators went for the quantity with a brimming bed of snakes for dramatic effect, but it was a heavy-handed play. A lone king cobra would have been better. King cobras are indigenous to Vietnam albeit endangered now. And a king cobra is the worldâs longest venomous snake averaging 12 feet in length. The largest measured one was over 19 feet long. A cobra would strike, first and hard.Â
We already know the rest of Kreeseâs story. He returns from Vietnam as a hero, as well as martial arts champion, but heâs psychologically scarred. Season 3 made us understand Kreeseâs motivations and justifies his character flaws, but it doesnât absolve him. We honor our military veterans for their service and now have a better sense of post-traumatic stress disorder, but no one has the right to stand above the law, no matter how much they have sacrificed. Will Kreese finally have to answer for his wrongdoings? Or will he find peace? Weâll just have to wait for season 4 to see.Â

Cobra Kai season 3 is available on Netflix.

My thoughts on Final Fantasy VII Remake
I should preface this with saying that Iâm not a game reviewer and this is going to be my subjective opinion on the game and Iâm writing this because Iâm feeling the urge to just ramble about my experience.
So to start with: I love this game so freaking much.
It gave me what I expected: great characters, it took me on an emotional roller coaster, it made me smile, it made me cry, it made me bounce in my seat in excitement.
The graphics are phenomenal. As is the environmeltal storytelling. I walked through Midgar and thought âThis is a real placeâ and that happens so rarely for me in games. For all that I love FFXV, that one didnât manage to convince me itâs world could be real. This game however, did, and thatâs a big part of why I love it so much.
Characterisations have been spot on. Barrettâs willingness to go in guns blazing, his bluster, but also the care he has for Marlene and the members of his Avalanche cell.
Jesse, Biggs and Wedge are finally real characters and we learn at last of Jesseâs motivation to have joined a band of eco-terrorists. The inclusion of her backstory was spot on imo. I find it sad that Biggs got the least screan time of the three.
Aerith was perfect in this game. She was quirky, she was flirty, she had personality that went beyond this holier-than-though thing she had going on in most of the compilation. And by Yevon does she have cheek. I love her.
Now Tifa, I have one gripe with, and itâs really more a pacing and tonal issue during the train graveyard. Tifa was really close to a panic attack thinking about what Corneo said and then there comes this hour long ghost dungeon where sheâs a scared damsel. I feel thereâs a disconnect here and thatâs literally the only ânegativeâ thing I have to say on her character. I like her confidence, her moral dilemma on how Avalanche is doing things, how her motivations are very close to Barrettâs, but she manages to (mostly) keep a level head.
Now for Cloud I was kind of sceptical in the beginning, but I feel they did him so well. Heâs got this cool and collected facade of being a SOLDIER 1st Class, but itâs just that: a facade. Beneath it he has a deep willingness to help other people, and also an insecurity that I can appreciate.
Non of this would have really worked, if the voice acting hadnât been as good as it is. I can only really speak for the German voice acting, but itâs phenomenal. Cloud, Aerith, Reeve and, funnily enough, Roche are my favourites. All others are really good as well, Barrett just threw me off for a bit because the same voice actor does Gladio in FFXV and for the first hour every time Barrett opened his mouth I was seeing Gladio. The only voice I donât really agree with is Rufusâ. I donât know, the voice actor does a good job, itâs just not what he sounds like in my head.
On the game play side, overall I really liked it. Itâs fluent, the materia is spot on and the technical RPG elements are there. The only gripes I really have concern the spell casting, the AI of the characters you donât control at the moment, and the ATB.
I have nothing against that my spell casting can be interrupted. What I didnât like that the ATB bar used was gone and also the MP, even if the spell hadnât been cast. This made it really difficult to judge when ti use level 3 spells because you could potentially loose a large amount of MP with no spell cast. The AI is kinda dumb in a lot of places, which I think is partly to force you to switch characters often, but I donât like how theyâre doing it. I would have really liked something like the Gambit system in FFXII (if less complex) or something like what Kingdom Hearts does. Just... some amount of control would have been nice. Also I would have liked if the ATB bar filled just a bit faster.
Sometimes it was hard to judge which enemy attacks could be blocked and which couldnât so I hope in the next game they can do something with that. And improve on the dodge roll. Because right now it has no iframes whatsoever.
Iâll tackle the story (and the ending) in another post because this is already getting long enough, but safe to say I loved it.
So. Dungeons. Theyâre not bad. And they really sat down and thought them through. In many of them are little game play quirks to make things more interesting like the hand crane-thing and the pump in the sewers. But I feel like the train graveyard and the dungeon in chapter 17 (the secret lab, got no idea what its name is in English) slightly overstay their welcome. Especially, like I said earlier, the train graveyard threw the pacing off which is sad because the original game had such great pacing.
Which is why Iâm so ambivalent on how they used Sephiroth in this game. New players who never played the original or any FF ever, wonât ever experience the same tense build-up on who that character is and the truly iconic horror scene in the tower after you escape the prison-cells. Iâm sad for new players missing out on that. (But I can see that the bloodbath would have pushed the rating, so I can see why they didnât keep it in. Still sad about it though.)
The music in this game is great, and when you really listen it can spoil the hell out of the story (for people familiar with the compilation). Most tracks are so well redone and the production value and quality is insane. Not sure what more I can add since Iâm practically tone deaf on my best days, so Iâll leave that here.
Lastly, I donât mind the linearity. I think the closest I can compare it to are FFX and FFXII. Yes, those games are also full of âcorridorsâ, they just trick you into thinking they arenât. And while the Remake cannot fully trick me, since it is taking place in a city, the places we can go to are so large, I did not feel it even being remotely close to approaching claustrophobic. (That sentence sounds wrong for some reason, but I cannot see why. English wrangling is exhausting.)
So thatâs it for now. Feel free to message me or reblog or whatever. I would love to hear other peopleâs opinions on this game and discuss it.

How Paul Walker's Fast & Furious Supra Was Nearly A 3000GT, And Other F&F Car Rejects
New Post has been published on https://coolcarsnews.com/how-paul-walkers-fast-furious-supra-was-nearly-a-3000gt-and-other-ff-car-rejects/
How Paul Walker's Fast & Furious Supra Was Nearly A 3000GT, And Other F&F Car Rejects
The Quick and the Furious is currently over 20 years old. And yet, we all canât help but remain fascinated about the two-decade-old film that released an unlikely multi-billion dollar business, particularly when technical advisor Craig Lieberman continues to pump out fascinating videos in regards to the production side of things.
In the latest effort, Lieberman is discussing the cars that could have ended up within the first film. But first, weâre used through the ground rules for the original candidate. For instance, the cars had to be available in the united states from new and also needed to be left-hand drive, since something RHD may have confused the predominantly non-car experienced audience the film was targeted at. Certain brands were ruled out from the beginning simply for not being considered awesome enough at the time, and supercars had been out.
There were useful considerations, too. There would need to end up being four examples of any car investing a lot of time on screen - the primary hero car for all the close-ups, the âhero 2â backup, and a set of stunt cars. Car availability has been key, as was price -- the total budget for the cars was simply $2 million.
In order to source the hero 1 vehicles, casting calls were held, along with replicas built of the chosen automobiles as necessary. The examples that will turned up had a big bearing about what the producers ended up going for : for instance, Lieberman suggested something like a good E36 THE CAR 3-series or Audi S4 for Jesse, and indeed certainly one of each turned up to the call, however they were too subtly modified in order to pique the interest of director Take advantage of Cohen.
Paul Walkerâs Brian OâConnor was supposed to possess a Mitsubishi 3000GT first before switching for an Eclipse. Since the script called for the Targa roof being ejected in the scene late on in the movie, the cars were switched around. Eventually, though, none of the 3000GTs on the casting call were up to scuff, which lead to the now-iconic Supra being used. Oh, and Johnny Tranâs car was down as a Kia Mustang in the original script.
Lieberman mentions a whole bunch of some other cars that just missed out on a go of automotive stardom too. Which usually do you think would have been a better bet compared to what was eventually used?

U.S. Defeats the Republic of Ireland in first Victory Tour match in Pasadena, California while Jill Ellis announces her Retirement as National Team Coach
The U.S. Womenâs National Team attracted a crowd of 37,040 to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Californiaâsite of the teamâs iconic World Cup Final win over China 2-1 on penalty kicks in 1999 in front of over 90,000 peopleâin their first game Stateside after winning the 2019 Womenâs World Cup in France on August 3rd.The Americans won 3-0 with all of their goals coming in the first half from Tobin Heath, Lindsey Horan (both Portland Thorns) and Carli Lloyd (Sky Blue FC). The Americans overwhelmed the Irish with 80% ball possession percentage, a 16-2 advantage in corner kicks and 30 shots to only 2 for the visitors (9-0 for shots on goal). Alyssa Naeher (Chicago Red Stars) in the first half and Ashlyn Harris (Orlando Pride) in the second half shared the shutout in goal.
The Victory Tour of five matches will exclusively feature the 23 players who helped the USA win the World Cup. Quinn is the top scorer on the roster with 11 international goals. Forward Katie McCabe, who also plays for Arsenal, has six career goals. No other player has more than one. Missing from the side were regulars Denise OâSullivan (North Carolina Courage) and Megan Campbell (Manchester City and ex-Florida State University) who had club commitments and were not released.
Ireland is preparing for qualifying for the 2021 UEFA Womenâs Euros. Ireland starts qualifiers against Montenegro in September and is in UEFA Qualifying Group I, along with Germany, Greece, Montenegro and Ukraine.
Former Republic of Ireland Coach Colin Bellâwho was a high profile signing in early 2017 after taking Frankfurt to a UEFA Womenâs Champions League title in 2015âleft his position in late June when he was named assistant coach of Huddersfield Town, who were relegated from the Premier League last season and will play in the Championship (2nd Division), with Tom OâConnor moving up from assistant to interim head coach. Bell said that he wanted to stay but did not receive clarity on his position and program direction from the federation. Toddâs successor seems to be set with former German international Maren Meinertâwho led Germany to the UEFA U-19 Finals last month and has won 3 U-19 European titles and 2 U-20 Womenâs World Cup in her time coaching the German youth sideâset to be appointed; she is very well respected in the game.

Jill Ellis Steps Down as U.S. Coach
The U.S.-Republic of Ireland game in Southern California was overshadowed somewhat by the fact that Jill Ellis announced on July 30 that she was resigning as head coach following the Victory Tour, after five-plus years in charge. With the win over Ireland she now has a 103 wins and trails only 1999 World Cup winning coach Tony DiCicco (105) as the all-time winningest coach in U.S. womenâs soccer history. While head coach, Ellis has won eight tournaments: the 2015 Algarve Cup, the 2015 Womenâs World Cup, the 2016 CONCACAF Womenâs Olympic Qualifying Championship, the 2016 SheBelieves Cup, the 2018 SheBelieves Cup, the 2018 Tournament of Nations, the 2018 CONCACAF Womenâs Championship and the 2019 FIFA Womenâs World Cup.
Ellis explained her decision in a press conference: âWhen I accepted the head coaching position this was the timeframe I envisioned. The timing is right to move on and the program is positioned to remain at the pinnacle of womenâs soccerâŚ.Change is something I have always embraced in my life and for me and my family this is the right moment.â Ellis (52) will make appearances for the US Soccer Federation for at least a year. U.S. Soccer president Carlos Cordeiro said. âThe US Soccer Federation and the sport in general owes Jill a debt of gratitude. Jill was always extremely passionate about this team, analytical, tremendously focused and not afraid to make tough decisions while giving her players the freedom to play to their strengths. She helped raise the bar for womenâs soccer in the USA and the world and given the history of this program, the level of success she achieved is even more remarkable.â
Where does Jill Ellis go next is a primary question? It will be interesting to see and she could be with another national team side for 2023 (perhaps Australia as their coach Ante Milicic will step aside after the Olympic Gamesâif they qualifyâto coach a new menâs A-League expansion side in Southwestern SydneyâMacarthur F.C.). As for her replacement, there will be no shortage of applicants. Longtime U.S. assistant coach Tony Gustavssonâwho was brought from his native Sweden by Pia Sundhage in 2012, is quite respected by the players and was a finalist for the job when Ellis took over in 2014, has already also left the team. He could be a serious challenger for the position and reports in the Swedish media state that he already has interest from teams on four continents. He certainly will end up with a nice position somewhere, but could it be in the States after working there for almost 9 years?
WPSL Sees Pensacola FC Win the 2019 Championship Final
The WPSL completed its 22nd season and bills itself as the largest womenâs league in the world, this year with 119 teams; the WPSL had 16 conferences this season, with 4 of them split into 2 divisions. WPSL rosters feature elite collegiate, post-collegiate, international and standout prep student-athletes and has well-known U.S. international league alumni such as Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe and Brandi Chastain, who once graced the leagueâs teams.
In the semifinals on July 20 held in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Pensacola FC defeated the Seattle Sounders Women 3-2 in a repeat of last seasonâs Championship Game which Seattle won. Pensacola has been dominant throughout the 2019 season, as the only remaining undefeated team in the league after the match. Pensacola used a 14th minute goal by Briana Morris (University of South Alabama) past Seattle goalkeeper Isabel Jones (who had 5 shutouts last season at sophomore in 2018 at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington). Pensacolaâs Nigerian international Uchenna Kanu (Southeastern Fire, who was on her countryâs Womenâs World Cup side this summer and played for their 2014 U-20 and U-17 Womenâs World Cup teams)scored in the 43rd minute to give the Florida side a 2-0 lead at half time. Seattle replied in the 64th minute when Summer Yates (University of Washington) scored on a corner kick. Mollie Rouse (an English youth international who plays at the University of Louisville) scored a third for Pensacola FC but Seattle narrowed the gap in the 81st minute on an Alexandra Hobbs (Pepperdine University in California)goal in the run of play. Goalkeeper Kathryn Scheele (who played at the University of Colorado and Colorado College) helped to secure the win for Pensacola in the tense final minutes.
Note: Pensacola FC center back Hannah Godfrey, who scored seven goals for Pensacola this season, has signed with Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the North London clubâs first season in the FA Womenâs Super League. A Thornton-Cleveleys, England native, Godfrey also played four seasons at the University of South Alabama. Godfrey (22) is Pensacolaâs 20th professional signing (17 international, three NWSL) since the club joined the league in 2012. Pensacola FC coach David Kemp said: âWe are thrilled that Hannah has realized her dream of signing a pro contract back home in England. She gave us four years of leadership, hard work and fun. Sheâs a joy to be around, and we look forward to watching this next chapter of her career.â
Seattle had a star-caliber squad from around the country; Kaylee Dao (who finished her four year career at the University of Oklahoma in 2018) led the team with 6 goals while Kimberly Hazlet (who will be a senior this season at the University of Portland) had 7 assists and Madeline Nielsen (who will be a junior at the University of Minnesota) had 17 saves and a 1.33 GAA. Besides Gonzaga Universityâs Jones, a third goalkeeper was Laurel Ivory (a junior at the University of Virginia who has played for the U.S. at the U-17, U-20 and U-23 levels) who had 8 saves and a 1.20 GAA. Melina Ayres (Melbourne Victory) came from the W-League for the summer.
In the other semifinal, the Utah Royals FC Reserves came out on top of Motor City FC after winning a thrilling game that came down to penalty kicks. Utahâs lone goal in the run of play came in the fourth minute when Amber Marshall (Utah State University junior this fall) scored. In the 27th minute, Motor City tied the game when Yujie Zhao (Florida State University/China U-20 national team) dribbled deep into the box and forced a Royalsâ own goal off Danika Serassio (Brigham Young University). Royalsâ goalkeeper Kaytlin Bradley (Weber State University in Utah) proved up to the task in penalties, saving from Alexa Spaanstra (University of Virginia/U.S. U-17 Womenâs World Cup team member in 2016) during Motor Cityâs second penalty attempt, which putting Utah in the driverâs seat for the remainder of the spot kicks. On the next Motor City penalty kick, Bradley made a decisive move to the left and forced Zhao to pull her attempt wide of the goal. With the Royals firmly in control, forward Hailey North (ex-University of Utah, who now is a personal trainer for female soccer playersânaming it Train Like A Girl) roofed her kick into the net, earning Utah a spot in the 2019 WPSL final.
Royals coach, former U.S. national team defender Amy LePeilbet (who played for the U.S. National Team, at Arizona State University and in WPS and WPSL and has been a Utah Royal assistant coach since 2018), gave up only 4 goals in 10 regular season games, while Motor City FC surrendered only 3. Le Peilbet said after the game: âI was so happy for the team when Hailey put that final penalty away,â LePeilbet said. âThis team has so much heart, and they fought so hard today. Iâm just so incredibly proud of them.â
Pensacola FC then won the WPSL Championship with a goal in the 118th minute to defeat Utah Royals FC Reserves 4-3. Briana Morris scored twice including the game winner in extra time. Mollie Rouse fed Morris on the winning goal as she dribbled into the Utah penalty area). Ana Paula Silva Santos (from Brazil, she has played at NAII William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi) also scored for the winners. Pensacola FC won its clubâs second WPSL championship â the first since its 2012 title when it was the Gulf Coast Texans. Pensacola has qualified for three-consecutive WPSL Championship matches, finishing runner-up in 2017 and 2018. The Florida club finished the 2019 season undefeated at 12-0-0.
For the season, Sydney Schultz of the California Storm had 17 goals to lead the league while Mollie Rouse (Pensacola FC) had 8 assists and tied with teammate Ana Paula Silva Santos, Kimberly Hazlett of Seattle and Cameron Tucker of Utah and for points. Alyssa Poarch of the CAFC (Coastal Atlantic Football Club Ospreys, who play in Frederica, Delaware and were competing in their first season in the league, had 37 points to pip Schultz of the California Storm (35)
The quarterfinal results were:
East Motor City FC 4 Chicago Red Stars Reserves 2.
South Pensacola FC 3 Charlotte Lady Eagles 1
Central Utah Royals FC Reserves 2 Fortuna Tulsa 1
West Seattle Sounders Women 4 California Storm 0
France Defeats Germany for 2019 UEFA Womenâs U-19 Title
France defeated Germany 2-1 for their fifth title in a record tenth UEFA U-19 final on July 28 in Scotland. The other two semifinalistsâthe Netherlands and Spainâalso advanced to the 2020 U-20 Womenâs World Cup, expected to be held in Nigeria, while India and Republic of Korea also bid for the hosting rights, with India hosting the 2020 U-17 Womenâs World Cup. Melvine Malard (Olympique Lyon, who played in last summerâs FIFA U-20 Womenâs World Cup) topped the tournament goal scorers with 4.France previously won the title in 2003, 2010, 2013 and 2016. France is now within one of Germanâs record six Womenâs U18/WU19 titles, having reached a record tenth final, one ahead of Germany (who were also runners-up in the 1999 four-team round-robin).Justine Lerond (Metz), the France goalkeeper who was outstanding in the match, said: âIâm really, really happyâafter weeks and weeks of preparation. I went to three EUROs where we didnât get to go to the end, now we have done it. It was a really tough game but we all played together, thatâs how we won.â
Franceâs Vicki Becho is the youngest-ever winner, and was the first 15-year-old to score in the U-19 finals since Ada Hegerberg in 2011 (the youngest scorer is Jordan Nobbs in 2008). The tournament was held in Scotland, in Glasgow, Paisley, Stirling and Perth, with Scotland, Norway, Belgium and England also participating. Maren Meinert, the Germany coach, said: âOf course we are very disappointed about the result, but not about the way we played today because I thought it was a great game and a great final for the fans. But in the end you need to win the game and thatâs what is still there in our minds and why we are so disappointed. But overall in the tournament I thought we did very well and developed very well in the last two years.â Meinert, as reported above, is expected to be named as the full womenâs national team head coach of the Republic of Ireland.

Watch National Final Rodeo Live Here>>>>
Among the young cowboys participating in the 2017 Junior National Finals Rodeo, Dec. 6-12, will be Wyatt Freeman, 11. The sixth grader from Beutler Middle School will be the only representative of the State of Idaho at the event, said his mother, Kelly Maughan. The young man has been riding miniature horses, steers, and bulls since he told his parents that he was big enough to âfall off and eat dirt,â said Kelly. The family was watching That Famous Preston Night Rodeo when Wyatt was three years old. The following year, she and her husband, Chris, let him ride. Freeman is going into the competition with a third place world standing for the junior division, which is for youth ages nine-12.His rodeo competence has his parents taking him from Montana to Texas and also to Kansas to participate in major rodeos, such as Cowboys Days in Evanston, Wyo., and the Grand National Rodeo in San Francisco. Last summer he participated in Utahâs Days of â47 Rodeo, brining home a second placing in mini bronc riding. In his spare time, Wyatt breaks mini-horses for other people, as well as mini donkeys for the grandkids in his family. When heâs old enough to participate in That Famous Preston Night Rodeo heâll be an old hand at the trade. Â In fact, he does well enough that he pays his own entry fees at all the events. âWe (his parents) pay for housing and travel,â said his mother. Sponsoring the young professional are West Motor; Preston Cleaners; Travis Chase State Farm; Credit Services of Logan, Utah; Stukenholtz Laboratories of Twin Falls, Idaho; Hayes Welding of West Warren, Utah; and Cass Design of Hyrum, Utah. He was featured on the West Motor entry in the Grand Lighted Parade held in Preston Saturday night.Championship ProRodeo has been producing the Licking Rodeo sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) for the past few years. A young but growing company recently participated in the 39th Great Lakes ProRodeo Circuit Finals. Held in Louisville, Kentucky during the North American International Livestock Exposition, the largest all breed show in the country, they were able to showcase 16 of their animals in the Championship Competition.
To produce rodeos, they have over 65 bucking horses and 70 bulls to choose from to transport to the rodeos. As a growing company they are looking to the future as they are breeding and raising horses and bulls to add to the competition stock. Currently, they have 300 cows, 120 yearling bulls, 27 weanlings and 15 three-year-old horses. In 2017 the ranch welcomed 12 new foals from this breeding program. As the young bull herd ages to 2, 3, and 4 years old they are taken to approximately 15 competitions in many locations across the country. Besides our rodeo, the crew hauls to 6 other PRCA rodeos. In 2018 they will be adding another Extreme Bull riding over the Fourth of July. At the Great Lakes ProRodeo Circuit Finals it was the Cowboys vs the Animals, and the animals were certainly ahead showing the talent they were bred for. A few cowboys used their match to put a little cash in the bank. Tanner Aus from Granite Falls, MN tied for 3rd place on the second night riding Jelly Roll, helping to propel him to finish 1st overall for the rodeo in the Bareback Bronc event. (Jelly Roll also helped cowboys out in Ashland, MO for a 1st and 2nd in Granite Fall, MN.) The final night, Jimy Marten of Donahue, IA made it to the 8 second buzzer on Chrome Hatchet to win the performance, the rodeo and the Year End Title Of 2017 Bull Riding Champion. With the 2017 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (WNFR) in Las Vegas this December, 2 Championship ProRodeo Bulls have been chosen to make the trip  â B-9 Juicy Fruit and 1137 Cowbanger (pictured above) will make his 2nd WNFR appearance. In a recent interview with Brett Barrett, co-owner of Championship ProRodeo, he said he appreciated the experience all the committees bring to the table. With all the volunteers that are ready to help, it makes everything go smoothly. Rain, shine or whatever Mother Nature throws at us, we Rodeo! A favorite at the Licking Rodeo, Cowbanger will head to Las Vegas in December to challenge the cowboys at the 2017 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.Four local cowboys are among those who will seek world championship titles next week at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Among the top professional cowboys vying for national titles Dec. 7-16 are two former Ogden residents â Tim Bingham, 26, of Honeyville, a bull rider in seventh place and Caleb Bennett, 29, of Tremonton, a bareback rider in sixth place. Both of these cowboys have won more than $106,000 so far this season. âWhen you win the gold buckle, thatâs the best you could do in the lifestyle I chose to live,â Bingham said. âTo get the very top dog award that I could possibly ever achieve would be amazing. Itâs something Iâm going to continue to try to do.â
Joining Bingham and Bennett in their quest for a gold buckle are Baylor Roche, 28, of Tremonton, a steer wrestler in sixth place with $99,000 in winnings and J.C. Malone, 32, a tie-down roper from Plain City with $86,000 won.Competitors from elsewhere in Utah include three members of the Wright family of Milford, all competing in the saddle bronc riding contest. They are Ryder Wright, 19, in 8th place with $99,000, Jake Wright, 28, in 10th place with just less than $92,000 and Jesse Wright, 28, in 14th place with just less than $77,000. All three have bested Cody Wright, 40, Ryderâs father, who was the 2008 and 2010 world champion in this event, who finished 17th this season with just less than $70,000. Losing never felt so good: World champ Utah bronc rider gets bested by sons. Utah residents joining the Wright family at the Wrangler NFR are CoBurn Bradshaw, 23, of Beaver, in third place in the saddle bronc riding with $124,000 won, Joe Frost, 25, of Randlett, in fifth place in the bull riding with nearly $121,000 won, Mason Clements, 25, of Santaquin, a bareback rider in 15th place with $86,000 in winnings, and Kimmie Wall, 37, of Roosevelt, in 15th place in the Womenâs Professional Rodeo Association barrel racing with $76,000. The Wrangler National Finals Rodeo is the season-ending championship event for the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and is widely acknowledged to be the worldâs premier rodeo, according to prorodeo.com. Held annually since 1959 â and since 1985 in Las Vegas â the Wrangler NFR is ProRodeoâs richest and most prestigious rodeo, and it showcases the very best cowboys, barrel racers and livestock in the world, says the website. The rodeo is telecast to more than 55 million households on CBS Sports Network, says the website. Each performance of the Wrangler NFR is broadcast live from 7:45-10 p.m. on CBS Sports Network â DISH channel 158 or DirecTV channel 121, according to news releases from the rodeo. The Top 15 contestants in the standard rodeo events â bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping headers and heelers, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, Womenâs Professional Rodeo Association barrel racing and bull riding â qualify to compete at the Wrangler NFR based on money won during the regular season. At the conclusion of the Wrangler NFR, world champions are determined based on total season earnings, including the Wrangler NFR, says the website. The Wrangler NFR consists of 10 rounds â one round on each of 10 consecutive days. Each contestant competes once each day. Cowboys and barrel racers earn money by placing first through sixth in any round and pick up more money by placing first through eighth in the average with their cumulative times or points earned during the 10 rounds.
While tickets for the Wrangler NFR are sold out, individuals are selling tickets on both a website of the Thomas & Mack Center and an NFR ticket exchange at the Las Vegas Convention Center, said a rodeo promoter. Grab your cowboy boots and prepare for one of the biggest events of the year: Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Star Trekâs Most Underserved Characters Will Be Back in Strange New Worlds
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
There were a lot of exciting news to come out of Paramountâs Star Trek Day 2021 celebrations, but perhaps the most rewarding for long-time Trekkies was the official announcement of the entire Star Trek: Strange New Worlds cast. While weâve known for a long time the Trek spin-offâs cast of characters would be led by Anson Mountâs Captain Pike, Ethan Peckâs Spock, and Rebecca Romijnâs Number One/Unaâall of whom were introduced in their current iterations on Star Trek: Discovery, but who originally hail from The Original Seriesâit was unclear which other TOS characters might appear. Now, we know, and they are great choicesâthree characters who deserved more in their Original Series incarnations. Now, they are poised to get itâŚ
Celia Rose Gooding as Cadet Nyota Uhura
Of the three characters on this list, Uhura is by far the most iconic and by far the characters who got the most to do in The Original Series and beyond. That being said, Nyota Uhura, a character made famous by the wonderful Nichelle Nichols, generally didnât get as much complex material as her mostly white, male co-workers and Uhura is the only member of the TOS crew to have not been seen after the events of the final classic Star Trek film. Strange New Worlds has a chance to expand this character in new directions. Here, we meet the woman who will become a bridge officer and communications officer on the Enterprise as a cadet. Cadet Uhura will be played by 21-year-old American actress Celia Rose Gooding, most famous thus far for her Tony-nominated role as Frankie in rock musical Jagged Little Pill. Could we get another Uhura musical performance?
Jess Bush as Nurse Christine Chapel
Nurse Christine Chapel was a recurring member of the Star Trek: The Original Series cast, memorably played by Majel Barrett (who also originated the other Strange New Worlds character Number One, among other Trek characters). Nurse Chapel first appeared in Season 1âs âThe Naked Time,â and was often used to highlight Spockâs stoic behavior, as she had feelings for the science officer and he, well, did not reciprocate those feelings. Nurse Chapel was a flat, unevenly written character who never had a chance to shine in The Original Series, a fact that was harder to swallow given Barrettâs âdemotionâ from the much more unexpected and complex Number One in âThe Cageâ to Nurse Chapel in âThe Naked Time.â
All that being said, Chapel is an iconic part of the TOS crew, and it will be interesting to see what Strange New Worlds does with the character here, as Nurse Chapelâs TOS characterization was all over the place. Canonically, Chapel often changed her hair between blonde and brunette, so here is hoping Strange New Worldsâ incarnation of the characterâplayed by Australian actress Jess Bushâchanges her hair color at least once. Uhura and Chapel were depicted as friends in The Original Series, so Strange New Worlds has the potential to build on that dynamic, and Romijn confirmed the two characters would have scenes together during the Star Trek Day panel? As Mount put it, âHow about Number One and Nurse Chapel in the same show, and they donât get written off?â Yeah, this is promising.
Babs Olusanmokun as Dr. MâBenga
When there was a medical emergency on the Enterprise, who did they call? Well, Bones. But then who did they call? Probably Nurse Chapel. But, then who did they call? Doctor MâBenga. In the event of Dr. McCoyâs absence, MâBenga was the shipâs ranking CMO. Interestingly, MâBenga completed his medical internship on Vulcan, which gave him an edge in treating Spock and (in theory) other characters with Vulcan physiology. It would be interesting to see Strange New Worlds expand on that relationship. Given that MâBenga only appeared in two episodes of TOS, Strange New Worlds has so much room to build this classic character. The role of MâBenga was originated by American actor Booker Bradshaw, and will be played by Nigerian-American actor Babs Olusanmokun (Black Mirror) in Strange New Worlds.
The rest of the Strange New Worlds cast includes Christina Chong is Laâan Noonien-Singh, Melissa Navia is Lt. Erica Ortegas, and Bruce Horak is Hemmer. Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers will act as the seriesâ showrunner, telling the story of the years Captain Christopher Pike captained the Enterprise.

How Paul Walker's Fast & Furious Supra Was Nearly A 3000GT, And Other F&F Car Rejects
