Just your average Old Firm mayhem…

Celtic v Rangers (12:30)

Rangers’ last visit to Celtic Park was on 31 March when we had three goals, two red cards – one after the final whistle – off-the-ball flashpoints and an 86th-minute winner from James Forrest.

Both sides were down to 10 for the final 15 minutes since Celtic had used up all of their subs when Dedryck Boyata was forced off.

Ryan Kent, who equalised for depleted Rangers, was later banned for an aggressive shove on Scott Brown, with the Celtic captain earlier on the receiving end of an elbow from Alfredo Morelos after clipping the striker’s heels off the ball.

Certainly an eventful day for the officials… Kevin Clancy is today’s referee, by the way.

Neck and neck race keeps rivals revved up

Celtic v Rangers (12:30)

Both sides have lost just one league game this season, with the tight race driving standards up.

Celtic have amassed 10 points more this time around than they did 12 months ago, having played one game less.

Rangers have five extra points bagged having played three games fewer.

Both sides also have eight more goals, although each has let in a handful more.

So, both sides have improved, although there is no doubt teams like Kilmarnock, Aberdeen, Hibs and Hearts have dipped significantly.

This time last year…

Ibrox was the venue and the hosts came out on top thanks to a deflected Ryan Jack strike.

It ended a run of 12 games without a win in this fixture for the blue half of Glasgow and moved the rivals level on points going into the winter break.

It was to prove something of a false dawn though, with Celtic pulling away in the second half of the season, despite another Ibrox defeat in May.

Celtic aim for third derby win

Celtic v Rangers (12:30)

This is the third Old Firm derby of the season, with the champions triumphant in the previous two.

Celtic were too strong for Rangers at Ibrox back in September, with Odsonne Edouard and Jonny Hayes on target.

Earlier this month, Rangers were on top for much of the League Cup final, had a penalty saved and a man advantage for almost half an hour, but still lost 1-0.

Another success today would open up a handy gap for Neil Lennon’s side.

Celtic winger Mikey Johnston signed a five-year contract yesterday and is given a start today. That’s a pretty good Christmas for the 20-year-old.

He takes over from Olivier Ntcham in the only change from the 2-1 Boxing Day win at St Mirren.

Rangers bring back Alfredo Morelos as expected, with Jermain Defoe dropping to the bench, while Steven Davis is preferred to Scott Arfield in midfield after the 1-0 win over Kilmarnock at Ibrox.

Chapter 10 Preview

Hey Guys! How’s it going? If you’re asking where I’ve been...well...I’ve been taking a break from writing Monkey Wrench!. I STILL PLAN ON FINISHING IT and i still desperately want to tell you all this story, but it’s a big story and i’ve been trying to figure it out before i go any further so i don’t write myself into a corner. and honestly, despite the fact it’s been slowing down the storytelling process more than i wanted, i did need a break. i worried myself so much on telling the story and getting things written out every day, i started to overthink it and it stopped being fun. unfortunately the break has gone on for WAY too long but don’t you guys worry. i am working on it, i have been working on it, and though it’s still not going to be ready for one, maybe two weeks, it should come out before the end of nov, if we’re lucky and if i keep trying. ideally, i’d like to get Chapters 10 AND 11 out to you all as sort of an apology for being gone for so long, but if i can’t swing that then i’ll just get you guys chapter 10 so you’re not waiting as long. in order to make up for being so long, here’s an excerpt from chapter 10 - the very first chunk of the chapter. i might tweak the words/sentence flow a few more times before i finalize the chapter, but i feel like this is at a stage where i feel comfortable with others reading it. so, without further ado, here’s the beginning of Chapter 10! Thank you for your support, and as always, thank you for reading! -------------[Chapter 10: Down the Rabbit Hole (working title)]---------------- Deep within the shadows of Chase Young’s lair, a lone crow nervously looked over his wing, held his breath....and waited. And waited. And waited. He was not alone. The jungle cats around him, from the brawniest Siberian tiger to the sleekest, smallest ocelot peered anxiously over each other, too afraid to speak. Shifting silently in the depths of the chamber, they waited, with absolute dread, for their dark and terrible mistress to engulf the mountain itself in the flames of her rage. But she didn’t. Wuya, now seated on a pillow-encrusted couch she had magicked for herself, gawked at the images within the cauldron smoke, popcorn spilling out of her open mouth. The crow jumped a little when she finally began to move, and slowly, almost as if in a trance, she placed her bowl of snacks aside and raised a hand up into the air. The image of the three teenagers froze in place, and the scene within the smoke began rewinding itself. Soon, the promising Hong Kong morning melted away into a dark parking lot. In absolute silence, the Heylin witch observed the confrontation between Pandabubba and Jack Spicer unfold, her eyes wide as she rewound the fight over and over and over again. Her minions lost count of the number of times they saw dragons and birds and a familiar head of bright red hair flash before them, and soon, even the crow had forgotten his fear as he lost himself in the captivating scene. But all of a sudden, the images in the smoke froze again, and everyone else in the room swallowed as Wuya pulled herself up to her feet, awaiting her instructions, or, more than likely, her impending tantrum. But there was none. The Heylin witch opened her mouth, closed it, and opened it again before running a hand through her hair. She looked up at Jack Spicer, face twisted in rage and eyes shining like stars, and the sight of his power unnerved her so much, she gave up on speech. Shaking her head, everyone else in the room flinched as Wuya suddenly turned and stumbled towards the stairs with none of her usual grace or confidence. The crow’s feathers fluffed up in surprise, for in all of the years they had known each other, Wuya had never looked more lost. He swallowed his fear and hopped off of the couch, crying out to her in worry. “Caw?”

Wuya turned around, suddenly remembering he was there. “I - !" Breathless and shaken, she briefly surveyed the room, the crow and the rest of the minions before turning back around, holding on to the railing for support. “I-I need some air,” she stuttered, her voice like leaves in the wind.

The door of the lair closed softly shut behind her, and the horde of jungle cats looked at each other in surprise before they all collectively let out a sigh of relief. A jaguar with beautiful golden eyes growled at the crow questioningly, but the crow shook his head. No, he would not be following Wuya. Whether or not she would roast him alive, and whether or not he'd catch flak from Chase later, didn’t matter. The witch needed her space, and the bird was going to give it to her.

The two of them didn't exactly get along, but after what they'd all just witnessed...the crow would step back and give her some breathing room. He would allow her that courtesy, at least.

The jaguar growled again, but again the crow shook his head. He knew part of him was just being a coward, and he knew it was his duty to keep an eye on her. But even so, there wasn’t anything in the whole wide world that could convince him to fly up those stairs now. An angry Wuya was a danger, but a lost Wuya, an unpredictable Wuya... That was a death sentence. Taking one last look in her direction, the crow flew over to the couch and pecked at some popcorn. Behind him, some of the other jungle cats threw an ingredient into the cauldron, eager to get back to the unfolding story to see what would happen next. The images started moving back to the present, and as he nibbled on the leftovers and ignored the jaguar's judgmental gaze, the crow asked himself, for the thousandth time that night, how much longer they would all have to wait until Chase Young came back home.

Jack/Jermaine/Timber Fact

Out of all three members of Team Spicer, Jermaine is the best cook. After years of spending time in the kitchen with his mom, sister and grandmother, he’s definitely the best at making food. It’s not a skill he breaks out often, but when he does, no one forgets it. 🍽

Timber, however, is the best at CATCHING and preparing food. As a fisherman’s daughter and a wilderness nut, she can hunt, fish and forage. She knows how to scale, skin, and debone anything, and her cooking skills are good enough to make what she catches/finds delicious. Additionally, she IS the Dragon of Wood and can grow her own food. She may not be as talented as Jermaine in the kitchen, but she can whip up tasty meals straight from nature like nobody else’s business.

Jack is hot garbage at cooking and catching food, but he definitely has the best table manners, has eaten the most exotic things out of everyone else on the team, and despite hating them with a passion, can eat at fancy restaurants and handle the etiquette required for formal dinners with ease. Rich kid powers, am I right?
