it's crazy how ... well idk. i'm not justified in having this opinion bc i haven't listened to that much yet, BUT. it feels like stevie wonder's music as an adult was way way WAYY better than any of the stuff he did as a kid or teenager. maybe that's obvious or to be expected, but ofc i'm comparing him with mj. who did songs at age 10 that, imo, absolutely stand up with his best work as an adult. maybe it just has to do with the motown writers. and stevie was the first child prodigy at motown, so the writers and producers had learned a lot by the time the jackson 5 showed up

It took WAY TOO LONG but he’s finally here! The Boy…
NAME: Jermaine Thompson
AGE: 17
OCCUPATION: Assistant Basketball Coach (for a local kids team)
LIKES: Basketball, New York City, helping people
DISLIKES: Bullies, buttheads, being underestimated
SIGNATURE MOVE: sick basketball skills
BIO: If you ask him, Jermaine’s a pretty average guy. He likes sports, he helps his moms with chores around the house, he volunteers at his local community center. It’s a simple life. Sure, he’d like the opportunity to do something more - to really get out there in the world and help people - but he figures that can wait until after college. If he goes to college; he might take a gap year? Man, picking your future is hard.

a nice thing about Elyss having built A Lot of her ideas about how to live and behave out of spending a ton of time alone in the woods observing nature is that she's always been really bad at socializing with other people, much less Making Friends, but as soon as she got brought into a small team of people all working towards the same specific goal she went 'oh I see, I guess I'm a pack animal now' and immediately committed 110% to Working With And For The Pack

The fact that Finn from adventure Time is colorblind is really funny, mostly because people see that scene and are like "Wait but Jake's a dog, dogs are also red green color blind" and then you get to explain the fact that Jake is technically part alien shape-shifter, which is a really funny fact made funnier because canonically Jake does not know this. This implies that both of Finn and Jake's parents, being dogs, were color blind, and their brother Jermaine is also a dog, so is also color blind, and Finn is adopted but is also color blind, so from Jake's point of view he is inexplicably the only non-colorblind person in the family. Incredible.

I've seen so many fans cite the fact that Simon and Marcy's backstory was made just to explain how Ice King knew the fry song when he's never even interacted with Marceline.
Honestly I like that. But my most favorite one-off joke turned important story element has got to be Jermaine. Just Jermaine.
Tumblr media
He started out as just a gag character, and then came back as his own character with his own pent up issues against their father, and Finn and Jake. But what's my most favorite part about him was the line "we're just dreaming at the same time." Which later got fleshed out as a brotherly psychic connection between him and Jake.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly, I love Jermaine. He's such a good older brother (at least through his vibes, I am told Jake is older) to Finn and Jake. I wish he and Finn had interacted more. Temple of Mars was such a good episode because of it.
I also wish he met Fern. I think Fern would have been better adjusted had he been with Jermaine.

Do you like Jermaine? What do you think of his relationship with Omi?
Jermaine's a very fascinating character!
He has a certain heroism to him that no one else in the series even can. He steps in and runs against the odds to help people in need completely by choice. There's no prophecy, no chosen one moment, this is just a kid in the city who goes out of his way to help complete strangers because he's that deeply altruistic.
There's a whole lot you can glean, even just from his two episodes. Forgive the unorganized ramblings that follow.
Jermaine got one of the strongest introductions of any character in the show.
Tumblr media
A kid he doesn't know is about to be jumped by three burly men, and Jermaine immediately picks a fight and goads them into attacking him instead. And from their reaction, you can tell this is something Jermaine does a lot. He's cocky and heroic and a regular at this.
He knows exactly how to rile them up, and he knows how to bait them into charging recklessly. Even before Jermaine has any martial arts training, he has skill in reading people and controlling the flow of battle to cleverly create openings that he can exploit.
Tumblr media
And Jermaine doesn't win.
They gang up on him and he's caught. He can take any single one of the guys alone, he can even take out two of them if he gets the element of surprise, but he can't overwhelm all three of them at this point, and he knew he couldn't.
Tumblr media
It's not even clear if he usually wins these fights. In fact, he's probably beaten them all one-on-one or two-on-one, but he's probably never managed to take down all three of them together. And at first, he probably couldn't even take a single one of them. Jermaine willingly ran into a fight he knew he would lose, a fight he always loses.
Jermaine's usually successful in getting the heat off of the other poor kid or giving the other kid a chance to run away, but that might usually end in him getting beaten up like he was about to. He probably goes home beaten black and blue a lot.
He's willing to go through all that for kids he's never met before. He clearly expected Omi to run and save himself at this point now that Jermaine was the distraction. He's resigned to it, and at least glares them down. He refuses to whimper or flinch at it.
Tumblr media
He lights up with surprised joy when Omi intervenes for him.
That shock and awe suggests that even though Jermaine runs in and saves people like this a lot, he's never had anyone turn around and rescue him right back. And he's definitely never seen anyone dogwalk them 3-against-1 the way Omi does.
Tumblr media
Jermaine gushes about it with these sparkling eyes.
He's never seen someone fight like that. And he's especially never seen anyone fight like that for him. You can tell how huge of those things were in Jermaine's eyes.
Jermaine's a realist, but he does what he can when he can. But when he meets Omi (and later, Chase), he's the type to make Jermaine think that maybe anything and everything is really possible. He gets so starry-eyed.
Tumblr media
Jermaine's friendly and amicable and easy to get along with, so he probably has a lot of casual acquaintances and clicks pretty well with his peers, but he also probably doesn't have a close clique of his own or very close friends because Jermaine jumps into trouble like this a lot to help people, which is a target on his back that keeps most people from sticking too close to him. You can tell he gets in these fights very frequently.
Tumblr media
But he's still so generous and so willing to make new friends with a stranger that he's lending the clothes off his back already.
Tumblr media
And even when the stakes raise past anything Jermaine (who thought of himself as a world-weary and seen-it-all type) could have ever imagined, Jermaine is still doing what he did at his introduction and jumping in to help regardless of his odds.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He goes from being floored at the existence of dragons and magic and giant evil robots, to jumping to Omi's assistance and provoking the larger, stronger opponent's anger towards him again to that goal.
Jack had a death laser pointed at Jermaine a couple minutes ago, and Jermaine was absolutely terrified. And now Jermaine is egging Jack into getting angry enough to let Jermaine in on the fight to make sure Omi's not fighting him alone in a match he doesn't even know the rules of. It's exactly the same tactic Jermaine used against those bigger guys when he was first introduced.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's transported to an alternate dimension and absolutely freaks out, but still jumps in fighting and wins.
He's definitely not a thrill seeker (unlike Omi), and he's far from fearless (he's actually surprisingly skittish). He just doesn't let fear or danger stop him from acting in the moment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He hits it off with Omi really well, they're blushing and fidgeting by the time they have to part ways. But they ultimately do part, even if they keep in touch afterwards.
Jermaine's not really aching for some huge adventure for the sake of it; and although he does want to get stronger and he does want to be with Omi and with others who'll hang out with him despite the fact that Jermaine's got so many enemies, his skittishness of those big unknown horizons wins out. Jermaine is good at acting in the moment when it calls for it immediately, but this is different. When that threat or that goal is not right in front of him, he can sorta get cold feet. He's not some aspiring legendary warrior or chosen one; he's just a kind, couragous kid with a strong sense of justice.
Tumblr media
Jermaine's strong and good-hearted, but he's also just had a glimpse into this magic world he's never known. And he's not ready to say goodbye to everything he's ever known and a home he's very attached to just to jump into it.
At least, he wasn't at that time.
And then, he met Chase Young at some point.
And even though Jermaine was too nervous to leave New York behind back when Omi asked, Chase Young somehow convinces him. Chase Young and his lair are a bunch of walking red flags, but if Jermaine learned anything from his previous encounter with Omi, it's not to judge a book by its cover.
Tumblr media
Jermaine trusts and respects Chase, but he's operating on a huge dearth of information that makes it different from Omi's feelings towards Chase. Chase has kept his alignment and goals and true self a secret from Jermaine in a way he hasn't and can't with Omi. Jermaine sees Chase as an eccentric but good teacher. A mysterious, but good person.
Chase was the one who got Jermaine to step out of his comfort zone and leave his home and expand his horizons for something bigger that Jermaine was scared to consider before. Under false prentences, but still, it makes you wonder how exactly he did it. You can sort of see it with their dynamics though.
Like I said, even though Jermaine's willing to fight against impossible odds and risk immense danger to himself in order to protect someone or do what he thinks is right, he's actually not ever looking for trouble or thrills. He's confident and he's altruistic, but he's not ambitious, and he's not competitive unless provoked into defending his own standing already (like when Omi gets jealous).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Types like Omi or pre-reveal Chase who contrasts Jermaine as bloodknights who want these huge things are good at getting Jermaine to try and want new things that he's sort of skittish of venturing into on his own and isn't really inclined to imagine those great heights on his own. Jermaine enjoys the push he feels being together with them. It's why Jermaine has fun with and admires them so strongly, but also chafes against it at times.
Tumblr media
And that initial push and exploration outside of his usual sphere being so bumpy does definitely give Jermaine pause, so you can see why he had to go back and rethink some things. But he also got to experience a lot more of the world and was intrigued by it, so it feels like he'll be up to try again, after he recollects his thoughts.

Buttered Noodles
Pairing: James Potter x reader
Summary: James is understanding of your food sensitivities
Warning:  food sensitivity/sensory issue
*I personally dislike my food touching and creamy textures. Plus this is short and horribly written but what can be done.
- jermaine (シ_ _)シ
“That bush looks like a head of broccoli”
You don't say it because the bush necessarily looks like broccoli. It's simply the urge to talk nipping at you. The need to Distract yourself. Foods all that's on your mind at the moment. The bushes lining the street are the only things in your field of vision where its fixed out the car window.
Besides, what other food could a bush possible resemble but one of many tasteless greens.
James doesn't respond with anything other than a concerned glance. Usually on drives you'd be lounged out in the passenger seat, playlist cued up, serenading him with raspy heavy metal. But there you sit, stiff as a plank. Quiet except for the occasional mumble. Hands knotted in your lap placing wrinkles into your pretty clothes. Mouth pinned into a thin wobbling line.
You'd met his friends before. They were kind so that wasn't the source of your stress. The trouble arose around the fact that it had been in a pub setting, where the only requirement was drinking and nodding along.
But this would be different. This was big.
A birthday dinner. Where you'd have to sit up straight at a dining table and contribute to conversation, answer and ask questions, smile. All while eating your meal in the same timely manner as everybody else. Not too slow and not too quickly. Not itty bitty spoonful's and not gaping mouthfuls. You'd have to pause between bites, swallow, have a sip of your drink and repeat. Not staring at your plate, make eye contact occasionally.
You've always been very sensitive with food. You grew up in a clean plate household. Only by the grace of the universe were you able to find someone as understanding about it as James. Exactly why you don't want to embarrass him in front of his friends with your pickiness.
You would try your best to stomach whatever was placed before you but boy would it be hard. When certain textures or smells or mixtures made your mouth watery and your palms sweaty.
Food touching. Utensils scraping. The mushy sound of chewing and the wet gulp of a swallow.
However, You'd grind your teeth and bare with the horrors if it meant making a good impression.
“I made sure to tell Moonie you have trouble with certain foods.” James is talking lowly as if afraid to startle you.
“Huh?”
“Oh, I told Remus some of the things you don't fair well with-
Your eyes grow to twice the size in alarm "You shouldn't have put him out that way Jamie!"
The slight wobble of his head is done in apology. All you'd get, because he wasn't actually sorry. The movement sends his glasses slipping down his nose. You reach out on instinct to adjust them for him. "Its no stress mouse, he was happy to make sure you'd be accommodated"
And how would that appear. Everyone enjoying a full homemade roast dinner while James’ girlfriend poked and prodded at some frozen chicken strips and potato wedges?
"I can eat whatever he prepares" Could and Would.
"You can. But you don't have to. Remember that." The grounding weight of his hand finds its place on your thigh and your shoulders immediately slump with a release of tension. "Take a breath for me love"
You've squeezed your fingers so tightly your nails have dug bloody crescents into your palms. They burn. Your face warms in a rapid flush. Maybe it wasn't too late to throw yourself from the car.
"Yeah"
"If you start to feel icky we can always find you a safe food alright? It puts nobody out to make sure you’re well fed"
Icky. James' word for what was, in your head, unreasonable upset and stubbornness. There was a time when more cruel terms were hurled at you. When you sat in the kitchen until the morning doves began to coo. A plate of pasta long cold on the table. You liked pasta. Would have eaten the pasta if only the sauce hadn't been pre added for you. White and thick and slimy. Buttered noodles by themselves were delicious. But you weren't allowed to get yourself a fresh plate until you ate the one already given to you. Even if that meant going to school the next day on an empty stomach and not a wink of sleep.
"Yes mum" You have to bite your cheek to keep from smiling at how thoughtful you actually found his actions, feigning upset by purposefully avoiding his gaze. He sees through this of course.
"There she is"
And you know by the crinkle at the corners of his eyes when he grins at you that James would gladly join in with any alternative option if it would make you feel more comfortable. Confident. All you had to do was ask and he'd do anything for you.

Does anyone else feel like Umbrella Academy, What We Do in the Shadows and Our Flag Means Death went down very similar paths or is that just me?
To preface, this is mostly based on how I felt as I watched the shows but also on some of the opinions I picked up from the fandoms.
Also, I’m not going to go back and rewatch all of these shows for the sake of a Tumblr post so I’m working from memory and if you feel like I’ve misremembered any of the plot/ characters let me know.
1. Started as well-received and highly acclaimed live-action fantasy shows with ensemble casts.
Based on my own opinions and what I remember from other fans, UA seasons 1-2 were fairly well received, as were WWDITS seasons 1-3/4 and OFMD season 1.
They’re all definitely different genres of fantasy but I’d say they still all fit under the label. And they obviously all have ensemble casts, with the Hargreeves in UA, the vampires (and Guillermo) in WWDITS and the pirates in OFMD. Even though the plots and characters can be quite different they all have similar vibes.
2. Noted for having open queer representation.
Klaus and Viktor in UA, pretty much the entire main cast of WWDITS, and multiple main characters in OFMD.
3. Tied to already established and respected creators.
UA is based on the comics written by Gerard Way who, of course, is also well known for My Chemical Romance. WWDITS is based on the film by Jermaine Clement and Taika Waititi, who are both executive producers of the show. Taika was also involved in OFMD as the actor for Blackbeard and as an executive producer. He has his name tied to many acclaimed films like Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Thor Ragnorok and Jojo Rabbit.
These are obviously not the only famous people tied to these projects but it’s just a sample of the talent involved in these shows. I feel like the fact that there was so much talent working on these shows makes my next point more interesting.
4. Experienced drops in quality and/ or introduced problematic elements that caused fans to lose interest or respect.
Again, this is opinion based and if you still liked the shows during these seasons then more power to you.
My overall feeling about all of these shows is that they lost a lot of the joy from their initial season(s) as they went on. Like, they just got significantly less fun to watch. But they also had more specific individual issues that I would like to get into.
I stopped watching UA during season 3 and don’t plan on watching season 4. I feel like a lot of people will already know what I might be referring to with this but yeah, the scene where Allison *did that* to Luther made me so sick. I feel like that season absolutely destroyed her character, and as I said, it just wasn’t anywhere near as fun as seasons 1 or 2.
WWDITS is probably the most successful of the three in my eyes but I could still apply the same argument about loss of enjoyment. The “Guillermo wants to be a vampire” plot line got very stale for me, especially with how they “resolved” (?) it. Saying “oh he’s a vampire now oh nevermind he doesn’t actually like being a vampire and also can’t be one anyway so everything’s back to normal” felt like such a waste of time for me. I know a lot of people also criticised the show for queerbaiting because of the Nandermo plot lines and teases. I wouldn’t necessarily call it queerbaiting but I would agree that the “will they, won’t they” is very played out at this point. Another big criticism I have of the later seasons is how Marwa was treated. The fact that she had no autonomy and was being forcibly changed mentally and physically to appeal to Nandor was treated as like, a running joke and I just found it kind of disturbing. Dark humour is pretty common throughout the show, but given how often her character appeared it felt a lot more, significant than throwaway jokes about drinking human blood. I feel like they could have done so much better with her character.
OFMD is probably the most egregious example of the 3. Season 2 was just not good. I’m not saying it was the worst thing I’ve ever watched but it was incredibly disappointing. The pacing was off, the characters were off, the dynamics were off. It was all just very off. The huge cliffhanger ending with Evil Blackbeard felt like it was resolved way too quickly and everything else in the season felt equally rushed. A lot of the character dynamics, but especially Ed and Stede, just felt wrong to me. From what I understand there were production issues or something so I’m not saying the writers just woke up one day and decided to be bad at their jobs but I can only really judge a show by what I saw on my screen, and what I saw was so far removed from the quality of season 1.
5. Finished on a sour note.
UA ended after 4 seasons, with the fourth being released on Netflix today. I haven’t seen anything that indicates whether this was the intended endpoint or whether it was cancelled. WWDITS will end after season 6 which comes out in October. Again, I can’t find anything indicating whether this was the intended endpoint. OFMD was cancelled just a few months after the release of season 2 in October 2023.
I can’t tell other fans how they should feel but for me I’m incredibly disappointed that 3 shows I really enjoyed saw a gradual (or not so gradual for OFMD) drop in quality that ultimately culminated in them just… ending.
Like I said, I have no interest in US season 4, but I am still somewhat hopeful for WWDITS. I would be really happy if they could bring it back to what it was.
Conclusion
I don’t know what the point of writing this was other than the fact that I’ve always associated these shows as having the same vibes and I feel like it’s interesting that they have a lot of similarities and went down similar paths. Also I just like yapping.

I downloaded Keep Yourself to reread during the ao3 downtime. Did you add some stuff? I feel like there was new stuff. Anyway you keep saying your requests are open so will you draw more genderqueer/fem Fern? I like how you make him taller when he's a girl because of the time difference between the worlds, I only caught that on my second read. Or am I overthinking it and you wanted to make a joke about Finn's thing for tall women? Maybe draw Jermaine's visit? I never really thought about Fern being a demon when Joshua was a demon hunter, if I wind up writing an angst drabble about that in fucking 2024 it's your fault.
Tumblr media
I did add some stuff! Depends on when you last read it but I've added whole paragraphs since it was finished. I still go back in and fiddle with it when I'm like... the passenger in a car or whatever.
Yeah, you called it! That's why fem!Fern is taller. The wish not effecting him when he swaps between the two "Finn variant" vessels is supposed to be a hint at what's going on. I was hoping people would pick up that Fern's vessel takes on its actual age, or at least wonder why she's so much taller and let that fester in their heads until the reveal of Prismo slapping him into Fionna World Fern/Flora so that they can talk. Finn's hang up with tall women sort of just compliments everything/is a happy accident lol.
And dw. It didn't really occur to me for a few years after the show finished either, so you're not alone. The potential for drama there not being explored is a big loss imo. I hope you do in fact write a Fern fic in current year, it's good for you.
Thanks for being so attentive! and for enjoying my writing enough to go back and reread it~

thinking about Finn and Fern and how The Death of Legacy was essential to their story's resolution
Legacy is a repeated theme throughout the series—legacy, destiny, our ability to change and/or uphold those, whether or not it is our responsibility to do so, even when that legacy or destiny directly conflicts with our morality.
Each character confronts (and usually kills) the legacy assigned to them in one way or another throughout the series: Marceline rebels against Abadeer, PB relinquishes her place of power, King of Ooo has his own fall from grace, BMO confronts and kills AMO, NEPTR refuses to succumb to evil, Cinnamon Bun escapes the "dumb clutz" persona he held in the Candy Kingdom, Flame Princess subverts every expectation held for her and shows an immense capacity for kindness and forgiveness when expected to lash out or become evil, Ice King goes from "evil freak" to "irritable weird old man who cares about people a lot" even in spite of the fact that the Crown was imposing aggression onto him, Gunther/Orgalorg throws away another chance at unfathomable intergalactic power for a chance at the love Ice King was always searching for, Betty became a chaos god rather than accepting the fate of Simon's death because of her own summoning ritual, Jake sacrificed his role as an active father to continue raising Finn when he realized who needed him more immediately, and perhaps the biggest example of this is Sweet P, who is the Lich reborn.
And all of this is not even touching Finn or Fern.
Finn and Fern actually share a legacy of a well-known and generally respected hero (though some of that trust was damaged after the episode, "The Tower," when said tower collapsed onto the Candy Kingdom and, "lotsa folks got squished"). They share the legacy of "The last human in all of Ooo," and as "Son of Martin Mertins and Minerva Campbell," and as "Son of Margaret and Joshua," and as "Little brother to Jake the Dog and Jermaine," and as "Father of NEPTR," and as "Flame Princess' ex boyfriend," and as so much more.
but Fern has this additional legacy attached to him, this separate history where his timeline and Finn's diverge. He has the legacy of "The Sacrifice that brought back Prismo"—a sacrifice that he did not consent to making, by the way. He's got the legacy of "Finn Sword," protecting the version of himself who sacrificed him and separated him from his own Jake, who was also sacrificed for Prismo's sake. And then he has the legacy of the Grass Wizard forcefully imposed on him, this legacy of the Grass Sword's curse, of evil.
And then Finn imposes the legacy of "brother" onto him. forces him back into the old shoes of "Finn the Human, Hero of Ooo," when he's still trying to figure out what he even is now. What all of it means. It's like with the Jiggler all over again, where Finn refuses to address the underlying issue of the fact that there is no space for Fern here.
And Finn never realizes, the self-sacrificial guy that he is, that Fern is seeing all of this for the first time, is finally realizing how Jermaine must feel, because when it comes to Finn and Jake and the bond that they share, there's not really any room for anyone else. but Fern is also only a sixteen-year-old boy—why does Finn deserve to be loved and cared for by his big brother, but Fern doesn't anymore? Why is Finn the only one offering him comfort? Oh. Right. Because he feels like Fern is "his responsibility."
So Fern already feels out of place, and he recognizes that, unless Finn is gone, he will never have Jake again. And he decides that, in order to step into "Finn the Human, brother of Jake the Dog," maybe the legacy of "Finn the Human, Hero to All in Need," may have to fall.
And then we have Finn, who embodies kindness and compassion, who refuses to kill Fern, but ends up doing it, anyway. Who, because he couldn't save this version of himself, feels he has lost the legacy, "Protector," has failed to uphold the legacy of, "Brother," has maybe even lost "Hero," in the scramble.
Tell me, what remains?

Fionna and Cake Theory
Potential spoilers below the cut
Dueling Skates Theory
It's a play on "Dueling Fates" because I'm clever ;)
Tumblr media
So I was looking at the titles of the four remaining episodes: The Star, Jerry, Casper and Nova, and Cheers
Cheers - Easy enough, reference to Simon's favorite show, doubles as a greeting/celebration/goodbye term. Perfect for a finale! By the end, we'll have a new normal, everybody will know their names!
The Star - If it's a reference to previously known character, my guess would be Astrid, the Fionna and Cake fangirl.
Jerry - Shot in the dark here: Alternate version of Jermaine.
Now, for the good stuff, my actual theory is on who the titular Casper and Nova are! Drum roll, please! 🥁🥁🥁
Tumblr media
That's right! The Skate Fairies, let's go!
I was trying to think if there had been any unnamed pairs who had the potential to be fleshed out. These two came to mind. Especially because these two characters were actually hyped up in promotional material before the show released!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I found this weird because in episode 2, Simon Petrikov, they don't actually speak. They babble for 2 seconds and throw leaves at Simon.
I just find this credit weird since in episode 1, Fionna Cambell, their derby girls counter parts aren't credited. They are just listed as "additional voices." Despite the fact that the Derby Girls have actual lines.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Originally, it seemed like their purpose was just to show the links between events happening to Simon and how they directly affect the Fiona and Cake world. Simon is annoyed by the two Skater Fairies, so Fionna gets interrupted by two Derby Girls.
But do you really get two award winning voice actors just for that? But it's not like they show up again. Oh wait!
Tumblr media
Whose that on the right? A pair of thematically linked skaters voiced by, you guessed it:
Tumblr media
At this point, this is how I am feeling:
Tumblr media
The "Dueling Skates" theory
The Skater Fairies, the Derby Girls, and the Ice Scouts are all alerternate versions of each other
We will hear the Skater Fairies speak in a future episode
This is why the Fairies were credited but the Derby Girls weren't
They ARE Casper and Nova
In the penultimate episode they will have a bombshell reveal moment
They will be antagonists (separate from the Scarab) in that they will try to encourage Fionna and Cake to embrace violence to an unhealthy degree
This final point comes from the fact that the Derby Girls were praising Fionna for her "aggressive jerkiness," and the Ice Scouts encouraged Fionna and Cake to tear through the corrupted candy people in The Winter King.
One thing to note, combing through the episode, Destiny, I didn't see any obvious farmworld counterparts there (but there were lots of background characters with tires), and I didn't see any counterparts in baby world, but there might be some in episode 7.
Anyway, that's the theory. I hope you liked reading it, even if you think I'm completely off base with this one!
Bonus calls:
The Star is Astrid
Jerry is Jermaine

I’m sorry wait hold the phone! Simon gave Betty multiple chances to not live a crazy life ! The first one comes when Bella Noche turns IK back to Simon and he opened a portal to say goodbye to her. That he understands if she left him for something better because she doesn’t deserve what he was going through. SHE came in and when Simon was actively against her fighting Bellanoche no one stoped her!
The second time is when they had an escape from GOLB’S stomach! He told her to leave the crown or to just wait to make the wish until they were free but she pushed him away not considering what his life is going to be like after she sacrifices herself.
She made selfish choices for his sake and Jermaine and Finn told her to stop doing that, they were not just talking about the past they were talking about moving forward from then on as well.
Simon KNEW always known what Betty was doing for him he just didn’t know what to do about it. He didn’t want to look ungrateful for her sacrifice in Fionna and cake but couldn’t exactly be thrilled and not feel guilty of the fact that she willingly gave up everything for him after he was against it.
Dude Magic Man Told Her To Let It Go! She doesn’t listen and said “Egh wrong I just have to try harder to get it back!” She said that proudly….
Everyone told her to stop and she didn’t. And now SIMON has to learn the lesson of letting her go? For him to stop choosing all HIS choices? Wtf even is that garbage?
I understand pre mushroom war and the whole young love at the bus stop thing that was just mushy dumb stuff who knows what their relationship was like between bus stop and crown time. But after the mushroom war in a matter of life and death Simon was not thinking about himself.
Betty was crazy and obsessed with him, Simon was trying to protect her.
Why does he have to learn the lesson why does he look like the bad guy ?? That’s not fair.
