consider: jeremy, christine, and michael all have adhd (this got long whoops)

jeremy and michael have been friends for years so they never noticed their symptoms as kids bc they related and just thought it was normal

michael starts seeing a therapist for his anxiety and gender issues in middle school and he gets diagnosed

he tells jeremy all about it and lists off the adhd symptoms and jeremy’s like “oh no”

jeremy gets diagnosed pretty soon after

christine mentions her adhd to jeremy who’s externally like “oh :)” but is internally jumping up and down

when they get closer, jeremy tells her all about his and michael’s deal with the disorder and she laughs so hard

jeremy’s favorite stims are messing with his hair and bouncing his leg, and his main hyperfixations are space and video games, but once christine gets him into theatre he gets into a LOT of musicals

michael stims with music a lot. he mouths the words to songs, plays with his headphones cord, and listens to upbeat electronic music

also michael chews his pens all the time

christine mainly verbally stims by singing showtunes, but jumping and climbing things and rocking on her feet happens a lot too

jeremy’s adhd keeps him up most nights, meanwhile christine gets so much stimulation and social interaction most days that she can barely move when she gets home

michael’s rsd coupled with his anxiety is a Bad Time, so jeremy makes sure to give him a lot of love and attention when he gets upset (especially bc of how bad he feels about how he treated michael with the squip)

jeremy is late to literally everything because he can’t keep track of time ever

christine works entirely on impulse (”there’s also a part of me that wants to do this! so i did!!”)

they have a ton of moments where they talk about relatable problems while everyone else is like ???

jake: hey michael were you okay in english today?

michael: oh yeah i just got irritated because i couldn’t retain anything from the reading even though i read the same paragraph like 20 times

christine and jeremy in unison: i haTE WHEN THAT HAPPENS!!!

okay also some canon things? like how michael switches topics quickly and jeremy is indecisive/stutters and christine clearly hyperfixates on theatre (esp shakespeare)

i bet jeremy’s hypersexuality also probably has to do with a lack of constant stimulus

and maybe michael likes weed bc being high is like the only time he feels completely relaxed

big plus is that they’re all v creative and talented (jeremy and christine w theatre and michael w music)

all three of them have adhd and bond over it and that’s a fact

Jeremy and Christine both have extended time for tests and because of this they have to be put in a separate room for tests like the SATs and stuff so Jeremy HAS tried to talk to Christine before during like. The breaks or before or after tests but always pussies out.

Christine - Filipino - Everyone thinks she only listens to autistic people music, but she also listens to riot grrrl and hardcore - Actually pretty confident in her body (One that is chubby, if you draw her as a skinny woman I will bring woe upon your house and famine upon your fields). But very socially unconfident. - Transfemme, found out in 7th grade, socially transitioned and started puberty blockers in 8th grade, started hormones a year before the musical. - Had a crush on Jeremy since ILPR, was going to confess in GTIKBI, but got cold feet. - Actually a pretty devout liberation theology Catholic. - Decently fluent in Tagalog - Demisexual - Tumblr user (affectionate) - Post-canon starts learning Yiddish to be more connected to Jeremy's culture, ends up being more fluent than he is

What Is Your Favorite Musical?

Probably the one that features a bunch of teenagers and the main autistic character fucks up and does a horrible thing. They have a best friend who is also neurodivergent and ends up ignoring the main character's needs on accident. Oh there's also a girl with adhd who ends up getting closer to the protag throughout the story. And a bully who is neurodivergent because he is supposed to parallel the main character and their autism. Oh and Will Roland is in it!
