For National Jenzie-Day🎂🎉I was so lucky to have dinner with my parents and besties @unionsquarecafe. It was my first time dining at this @dhmeyer establishment after hearing many amazing things over the years. My meal began with the Bibb & Red Oak Leaf Lettuces(Gruyere, Dijon Vinaigrette and Sourdough Croutons). Then we shared the Pappardelle for the table (Rabbit Sugo, Pancetta, Parmigiano-Reggiano) and for my main I had the Roasted Sturgeon(Smoked Buttermilk, Hazelnuts, Beets and Sunchokes). That pasta was totes on-point btdubs. At the end of the meal our server sent out a delightful little treat with a candle (just one, so I didn’t set the place ablaze). Found my new cozy winter hang spot @babbalucci_nyc ‘s sister resto @bar314_nyc! 💁🏻‍♀️🍷🍽🍕🎉There’s a nice sized bar with a solid wine list and a great view of their pizza oven turning out the most enticing and instagrammable-pies this side of the island! We were promptly greeted with a warm smile and an amuse bouche of caponata bruschetta . I started with a glass of the #altoslosromeroschardonnay as we ordered our starters of fried burrata and roasted artichokes. Next we snuck a little health into the meal with the colorful Radicchio salad which featured surprise avocado slices! #🥑 #neverabadthing. Afterwards, we moved on to heartier wines and plates on offer, like the pesto-orecchiette with sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms (available with sausage) and the “Pizza 314” with pepperoni, Gorgonzola, mozzarella and hot honey. By the time we ordered desserts we were busting but made sure to sneak in a few bites of their churros and gelato. It was super affordable for the portion sizes (including wine) in a warm and inviting atmosphere. It would make a great no-pressure first date spot as far as I’m concerned (or dining solo.
