Older Movie Reviews: Love Story (1970)
Tumblr media
Love Story (1970)
"Love Story" is a classic romantic drama that has captured the hearts of audiences for over 50 years. The film, directed by Arthur Hiller and based on the novel by Erich Segal, tells the story of Oliver Barrett IV (Ryan O'Neal), a wealthy Harvard student who falls in love with Jennifer Cavalleri (Ali MacGraw), a working-class Radcliffe student.
At its core, "Love Story" is a timeless tale of star-crossed lovers from different worlds who defy the odds to be together. The chemistry between O'Neal and MacGraw is palpable, and their on-screen romance has become iconic. The film's memorable tagline, "Love means never having to say you're sorry," has become one of the most famous lines in movie history.
Tumblr media
While "Love Story" is primarily a love story, it also deals with themes of class, family, and illness. Jennifer's eventual diagnosis with a terminal illness adds a layer of emotional depth to the film, and the heartbreaking ending is a testament to the power of love and sacrifice.
The film's score, composed by Francis Lai, is also a standout feature. The melancholic and haunting melody of the film's main theme, "Where Do I Begin?", perfectly captures the bittersweet and nostalgic tone of the film.
Tumblr media
Despite its age, "Love Story" remains a beloved classic that continues to resonate with audiences today. The film's themes of love, loss, and sacrifice are universal, and the chemistry between O'Neal and MacGraw still shines through. If you're a fan of classic romantic dramas, then "Love Story" is a must-see.
"Love Story" is a beloved classic that has stood the test of time. If you're looking for a timeless love story with memorable characters and a powerful message, then "Love Story" is a great choice.

The use of fire by destroying something near another's home is a threat to burn up someone or set their home on fire. It is implicitly a death threat. It can be taken no other way and it was done by friends of Marshall Reddick, with the knowledge of Marshall Reddick, friends of Marshall Reddick who had an interest in moving in our home, and ignored by the Lee County Sheriff's Department. I also was involved in bringing to light the feces that had been erupting from a failed septic system on the Balls property next to us. Marshall Reddick cheated me for work I did in that home after I was asked to work there by Nichole Brighalli and refused to pay me for weeks, turning everything into a late fee matching exactly what they paid me, meaning my pay was zero. Nicole set us up and was the technicality used to evict us while they threatened our lives and recruited a corrupt stooge of a judge who applauded their effort, happy to evict us.
Judge Mirra refused to listen to anything we had to say and had already made up her mind considering nothing but what the plaintiff offered - nothing. She ignored my request to speak, having no problem appearing as if she worked for the Plaintiffs. Judge Mirra cared not for the illegalities perpetrated by Travis DeCere and Jennifer Umanzor nor did she care about the declining health and frailty of Linda who would be evicted too by intentionally ignoring the facts of the case. Brent Vitale, the neighbors landlord worked with Marshall Reddick to pervert the property Line and illegally encourage the neighbors to use their children like shit to harass us.
I had a letter printed by Fort Myers News Press concerning the trash allowed on Brent Vitale's property that was ignored by Lee County Code Enforcement. I and the then current landlord were threatened by Vincent Berta after Stephanie Ehlers, who ran for Sheriff invited me to a meeting of the North Fort Myers Civic Association, and then confronted officers at Lee County Code Enforcement.
I also criticized the Lee County Sheriff's Department for being negligent and allowing drug dealers to operate out of Brent Vitale's property for two and half years and I complained about the Lee County Building Department Inspections passing hurricane windows that were not close to being code which could fail and kill someone in a hurricane, at the Ehlers property in Pelican Landing.
Mirra is more of a "team player" than a judge and more of a murderer than a public servant.
Telling a parent that their children would be better off without them is not a threat to the children, especially if the parents are dangerous, abusive, expose their children to harm and are neglectful. It may be a threat to the parents but that doesn't mean in any way that the children are threatened by someone making the observation, again especially if the parents are as aforementioned.
The neighbor used their children as thugs, and I might add, it was due to your encouragement Brent, so point well made Brent. What a fucking bum.
Mitch O'Neal's father was a child molester, he knows it and he did not protect at least one of his children from him.
It's not my business what you do with your children. It is my business if you try to convince other people that I am like you.

Endings [Jennifer O’Neal]
Tumblr media
Summary: When endings are too painful, why not avoid it by not beginning altogether? Dick Grayson has other ideas though.
Type: Angst
Warnings: Refer to ANGST
Word Count: 753
A/N: This is for @melyaliz / @insideoflit for her birthday! I actually have no idea how to write Jennifer and I have no idea how accurate this is to her personality and story ASDFGHJKL; I hope I did okay ;;
Jennifer O’Neal belongs to @melyaliz / @insideoflit
MASTERLIST
There was something uncannily poetic about endings.
Everything had endings, from simple things such as books and songs, to abstract ideas such as life itself. It was a solid fact, a constant in this mysterious universe, that things end. Yet people feared endings, despite its natural essence. They feared endings, for while endings were natural, it may be one of the most painful experiences we face in our short lives.
And because of this pain, this unendurable anguish we are forced to feel when something ends, some people avoid beginnings altogether, for when something began, it always has to end.
No one took this idea to heart more than Jennifer O’Neal.
For Jennifer, it wasn’t just endings and beginnings she avoided. Anything that caused her pain, natural or unnatural, was kept in a deep, forgotten corner of her conscience and left to rot. To Jennifer, who always felt anything and everything, whose suffering always seemed to drain every ounce of life from her body, this was her way of existing.
Yet sometimes, despite all her efforts to keep that wall she built so strongly standing, Jennifer slipped. Her walls come toppling down, and for a rare moment, her emotions enveloped her all at once, as if she was dropped into an ocean of her hidden feelings. As quick as it broke though, the walls would return in a blink of an eye, and once again, Jennifer just existed.
She wasn’t always like this, though. Back when she was young, Jennifer felt everything. She was always seeking to try something new, to begin an adventure. She was a fearless warrior who faced her joys and sorrows, her rage and affection. One may even say she was naive, but shouldn’t every child be? She was normal, even with her brilliant mind and clever insights.
But then, everything fell apart. Jennifer always felt too much. While one felt sadness, she would feel despair. While one felt confused, she would feel eternally lost.
This was her downfall.
That pain people were so afraid of with endings, that pain that broke people incomparably destroyed Jennifer. So she shut it all off, and indulged herself in activities that would not require any emotional connection whatsoever.
Dick Grayson always kept watch of Jennifer.
He felt it was his duty.
He knew she was suffering. Although she claimed she was okay, and that blank mask she wore indicated nothing of her soul, Dick knew. He hated seeing those periwinkle eyes he came to adore so bland, so lacking of anything that told him something was alive inside of her.
He knew she craved affection. Why else would she sleep with so many men so carelessly? Jennifer was not an irresponsible woman, that much was true. No, she needed to be felt, she needed to feel, and the only way she could do that without feeling something real was by all these one-night stands.
He knew she was crying out for help, in her own special way. Jennifer did not blatantly admit anything, and Dick knew she would not intentionally confess she needed anyone either. But her body betrayed her. Whether it be the way she shifted close to him when they spent time together, the way she always seemed to spend her days with her family, or the way she seemed to reach out for the tiniest physical contact, before retracting her hand in what he could only describe as self-disgust, Dick knew she needed someone, needed him.
Though he cannot promise her that he could feel like she does, Dick vowed not to give up on Jennifer. He wanted her to live, not just exist. He wanted her to not be ashamed of emotions, of the very thing that defined humanity. He wanted her to begin living and not be afraid of the end.
Because people do not read a book just for it to end, or listen a song just to hear the final chord. People were not born just to die. Life may be an agonizing journey from start to finish, but it isn’t always difficult. Like everything else, the pain also ended. And Dick wanted her to realize that.
It wasn’t just the good things that end, the bad things will as well.
More than ever, though, Dick wanted Jennifer to know that with every elegiac ending, there is always, always going to be a new beginning. And even if she was afraid, even if the pain became unbearable, she would never be alone in her suffering.
