Four years after her father disappears, Meg Murray’s brother Charles Wallace’s new friends Mrs. Which, Mrs. Whatsit, and Mrs. Who send them and Meg’s new friend Calvin O’Keefe tessering through space to find/help rescue him. Kind of bland - through expanding what’s going on for Meg at school (a bully played by #RowanBlanchard, who’s got some demons of her own) and giving us a glimpse of the parents before and outside of the kids was interesting. Changing the message from one of faith in general to one of faith in oneself will be interesting to see play out if they make the rest of the books into movies. They also got rid of the twins who were a nice contrast to Meg, Charles Wallace and their mother’s almost psychic connection, though portraying that onscreen may have been difficult, still could’ve been mentioned in dialogue. The Mrs’ (who are they married to?) outfits were a bit over the top for me, though I liked the interior of the house we found Mrs. Who in (all those books😍) Did she also quote Hamilton the play?! I wish Camazotz had been shown a little more than just the cul de sac before going to the man with the red eyes, and was slightly disappointed that Mrs. Whatsit ended up becoming a large flying brussel sprout-headed lettuce leaf - instead of the iconic winged centaur-like creature. Overall kind of in the same vein as A Series of Unfortunate Events, and The Golden Compass movies...but if it did or does spur more kids to seek out and read the book/s, alright.
