The series finale for babylon 5 aired on November 25, 1998. It had been filmed the previous season when they weren't sure if there was going to be a season 5. When season 5 was green lit, this episode was held back and a new season 4 finale was made. The episode took place 20 years after the events in the regular series and went from December 28, 2280 through January 20, 2281. It dealt with the decommissioning of the Babylon 5 station (creator J Michael Straczynski played the worker turning off the station) and the second death of John Sheridan. Before his body gave out, Sheridan met with friends and visited Babylon 5 before it was set to be destroyed. Mysteriously, Sheridan's body vanished from the starship he had taken his final journey on. ("Sleeping in Light", Babylon 5, TV Event)

A look at the one-off visual piece I cooked up for “Half Full” at last week’s Pearl Jam Barcelona show. I brought a photo to life that PJ bassist Jeff Ament had taken at Gaudi’s Sagrada Família the day before, giving it surreal movement that gradually melts into abstract forms inspired by Gaudi and Dali. PJ lighting director Kille Knobel crafted a lighting look around my video piece, and live-cam director Blue Leach dialed in real-time psychedelic distortions to his overlaid live camera feeds, and as my video dissolved into a haze towards the end of the song Eddie Vedder took over on some visuals of his own, using his guitar to reflect a beam of light out onto the crowd. It was only noon that day when Jeff threw out the idea of using his photo to bring some of the city’s own inspiring texture into the show, and by that evening we had created all this from it. Truly a chain of inspirations, and a very fun challenge for one of my favorite cities in the world. Muchas gracias, Barcelona!

🐛I am here with the silly asks
So u have any comic reccs !
Hello! I'm so bad recommending stuff because I'm never sure if the things I enjoy will interest someone else. Also I'm kind of on a slump, I'm still reading 4 comic books at once and I'm not very fast, but I'm not super in love with any of them... I'm trying to find something to wow me once again... But I do have some recent favorites I can share!
Beginning with Superman vs. Brainiac, it's a collected book with most of Brainiac's major appearances from the 50s to the 2000s, Brainiac is one of my favorite Superman villains, a chaotic control-freak green robot (who befriends and betrays Luthor), what's not to love? / Alan Scott: Green Lantern is my most recent discovery and the book I was constantly thinking about for the last couple of months, it follows the early adventures of Alan, his first lover, and his relationship with the JSA, a moving tale of discovery and loss, one of my favorite reads this year
Now something for Halloween, two books about homicidal children, Little Monsters follows a group of vampire kids living on a post-apocalyptic world, they have a found-family dynamic, but there's a lot of angst buried underneath the charmingly portrayed little faces, the art is truly beautiful and Lemire's writing is touching / Serial by Terry Moore is a violent b&w comic following a 50 year old woman trapped in the body of a 10 year old girl in her quest for revenge, she's tracking a serial killer and... just read this, I love this book and the whole story is only 200 pages long

Writer Taylor Sheridan on the set of Hell or High Water (2016) with Jeff Bridges. Taylor was born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and has 13 writing credits from Sicario (2015), this, his second credit, to eight episodes of Special Ops: Lioness, a 2023 series he also created.
His other writing credits include Wind River, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Those Who Wish Me Dead, 47 episodes of Yellowstone, ten of 1883, and ten of 1923.
Taylor began his film career as an actor, first on a 1995 episode of Walker Texas Ranger. He was Travis Wheatley in eight episodes of his Yellowstone series. His seven director credits include Wind River, Those Who Wish Me Dead, 11 episodes of Yellowstone, and one of 1883.

Hell or High Water (2016)
Hell or High Water proves the Western genre never quite goes out of style.
Toby Howard (Chris Pine) and his ex-con of a brother Tanner (Ben Foster) are committing a string of bank robberies, and they’re being smart about it. On the case is Marcus Hamilton (Jeff Bridges), a Texas ranger about to retire and his partner Alberto (Gil Birmingham). The brother’s simple but effective techniques would allow them to get away clean if anyone but the seasoned Hamilton was the one on their trail.
One of the most striking aspects of the film is the landscape. It’s set in modern-day but everywhere you look, you see a civilization lost in time, or on the brink of collapse. As Toby and Tanner drive at high speeds through the countryside, it’s the same pattern that repeats endlessly” “For Sale” “Liquidation” and “Repossessed”. The only places where people aren’t shuffling their feet or wasting their time are the places where there’s money: the banks and the casinos. This world breeds desperation and stinks of greed. That’s the two brothers in a nutshell. Toby is doing the robberies “for the right reason” while his brother has always been a troublemaker. He’s doing this so he can have things he doesn’t need. Despite this, you can't blame either of them for choosing to do what they are doing. This place has made them this way.
This is the kind of movie you can watch and re-watch and always notice something new. Marcus is hilarious but often, he takes things too far. It makes you wonder if he and Alberto are friends despite the insults they frequently exchange. How many of the veteran's comments are earnest? How many are there just to see what he can get away with? Simply listening to the dialogue is a treat. Combined with the wonderful performances, you forget about everything outside the movie. What’s that? gotten comfortable again? Time for the movie to shake things up and deliver sudden, shocking violence, the kind that leaves you rattled.
Major credit must be given to Taylor Sheridan and his excellent screenplay. Everything about this movie is tight. It’s about two brothers who’ve been taken advantage of by the system and who fight back but when you start having a bit too much fun with it, reality comes in from the left and clocks you across the face. You get everything you’d want out of a Western: the law vs. the lawless, gun fights, chases, heists, showdowns. You also see your expectations subverted in small but meaningful ways. Every character’s move or line builds them up, and defines them further. Everyone you meet is memorable and adds to the atmosphere from the two idiot posers who pull up in a lime-green sportscar (such a shocker against the tan desert it’s like they’re a pair of time travelers), to the waitress who’s so bitter the only people who would order from her are those who have nowhere else to go, to the old men who sit in the restaurant all morning waiting for the police to interrogate them despite having seen nothing of value.
Hell or High Water is the kind of movie that becomes an instant favorite. The cinematography, the tight storytelling, the characters, the performances, the dialogue… they’re all in perfect synch. It blows you away to see a movie like this that takes a genre and makes it feel so fresh and innovative by tweaking the right nobs. (On Blu-ray, October 23, 2020)

Hell or High Water (2016, dir. David Mackenzie) - review by Rookie-Critic
Hell or High Water was excellent. Taylor Sheridan sure knows how to write a damn good script. I've now seen all 3 of Sheridan's Frontier Trilogy of films (the other two being Denis Villeneuve's Sicario and the Sheridan-directed Wind River) and there are times when Hell or High Water is more straightforwardly entertaining than Sicario, but overall I think Denis' masterful touch just gives Sicario the edge on being the best of the 3. The acting is impeccable: Ben Foster is excellent at playing a crazy son of a bitch, Jeff Bridges is, as always, great at playing the old timer stuck in his ways, and Chris Pine proves yet again that he is one of the most underrated and underappreciated actors of the modern era. The social commentary is heavy-handed without being preachy or too in your face and the cinematography captures the beautiful West Texas landscape in almost mural-like fashion. Just a well written, well acted, and well directed neo-Western.
Score: 9/10
Currently streaming on Netflix.

Handsome: A Netflix Mystery Movie (2017)
In today's review, I bet my reputation, on my looks and my instinct. As I attempt a #positive review of the 2017 Netflix mystery film, Handsome: A Netflix Mystery Movie #JeffGarlin #NatashaLyonne #AmySedaris #LeahRemini #ChristineWoods #StevenWeber
We tend to think of Law Enforcement (when we think of them positively) as professionals who live, sleep, and breathe the case. Rarely does the human factor enter the equation, but what about the human souls that are impacted, especially when the crimes impact those around them? In 2017, Jeff Garlin took on a new character, a man who is willing to balance the law and his life, in a comedic fashion…

THE BEATLLES FILE | I quinti beatles

theres a couple of books missing from here bc they didnt tile nicely but kicks my legs... reading log so far from the first half of 2024 🫡
i wanted to share my favourites out of the above as well:
carmilla by sheridan le fanu (the og vampire novella, somewhat archaic writing style but Way more lesbian than i was expecting, v evocative of those insane girlhood friendships one has growing up afab)
the goblin emperor by katherine addison (maia… the ultimate good boy truly trying his best to be a good ruler - i felt alternatively so bad for him and rly proud of the sentiment of kindness he embodied + gorg descriptions of the goblin/elf cultures)
empress of salt and fortune by nghi vo (novella; gorgeous poetic writing, like catching glimpses of an epic fantasy story but being Allowed to fill in a ton of it yourself.. rly tactile…also WAMEN and a sprinkle of lesbianism 🤌)
white is for witching by helen oyeyemi (magical realism prose which powerfully serves the unreliable narrator/psychological issues the protagonist has/seems to have + haunted house horror where the house is also in the characters after they leave.. i rly want to reread it already)
the dispossessed by ursula k le guin (anarchist socialist anticapitalist anti-prison anti-police theory beamed straight into my brain. made me want to move to the moon. actually nuanced in its depiction of issues in supposedly utopian societies)
annihilation by jeff vandermeer (delicious bio-horror.. weirdness abounds… really vivid pov/protagonist in the autistic broad shouldered biologist, imo very well crafted mystery but dont go in expecting to have all the answers at the end, thats Not The Point tm)
blood over bright haven by ML wang (sciona.... ur THE power hungry maniac academic ive been waiting for... this is a visceral fantasy that quite skillfully deals w gender & ethnic oppression w.o cheapening those issues for the (lowkey) romance's sake, a common gripe for me)
bride by ali hazelwood (just a freaking good time if uve been traumatized by abusive male leads ur supposed to like.. werewolf x vampire contemporary romance)
