Motivate to Socialize
Performing onstage and interacting with the audience can make one feel more confident in their voice..
In a post COVID-19 world, social situations can seem intimidating or distressing for many people. Because of anxiety or discomfort surrounding them, there may be a lack of confidence and motivation to take part and immerse themselves in group events, no matter how large they are. During my senior year of high school, all of my classes were online. While I was still able to connect with my…

Sangre Joven - No Sé, No Sé (1975)
Sangre Joven were an offshoot of Peruvian jazz group Nil's Jazz Ensemble, created to record mostly covers. This is a cover of a song by Catalonian group Rumba Tres, and Sangre Joven add their own raucous and funky flavor. Hard to resist.

Hiro Ogawa is planning to release a new album this fall. This time, his taste has changed and we have included 12 classical compositions. Hiro Ogawa as a composer comes to the fore (of course, he shows his true potential as a keyboard player in piano pieces), and in orchestras and ensembles, he shows off his precise compositional abilities. In the lyrics of the title song, you can see some improvised phrases, and the somewhat jazzy sound sequence makes your heart pound. In the future, we plan to distribute videos in small portions to introduce the recorded works.

Sean Khan presents the Modern Jazz & Folk Ensemble - exactly what it says
With the brand new single 'Solid Air' (featuring Rosie Frater-Taylor), we announce the eponymous album from 'The Modern Jazz & Folk Ensemble', out on 24 May on Acid Jazz. It follows the release of two singles ‘I’ve Got a Feeling’ (with Jacqui McShee) and the spellbinding version of Nick Drake’s ‘Parasite’ (featuring Kindelan), Led by the trail blazing London based saxophonist Sean Khan, the album pays tribute to the sounds of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s folk revival, recast and reimagined in a jazz setting, with featured guest vocalists, including compositions by Pentangle, Sandy Denny, John Martyn and Nick Drake. Featured singers include the legendary Pentangle lead singer Jacqui McShee, acclaimed singer-guitarist Rosie Frater-Taylor on the back of her recently released and critically acclaimed ‘Featherweight’ album on Cooking Vinyl, plus emerging artist Kindelan from vibrant Leeds folk and jazz scene. Sean Khan is known as one of the UK’s premier saxophonists, driven by a serious work ethic and urge to create new sounds. The Modern Jazz and Folk Ensemble is his follow up to Supreme Love: A Journey Through John Coltrane released on BBE Records. His distinctive playing can be heard throughout, as he successfully connects the dots between Coltrane and Nick Drake.

on translation
in the new Davie504 video someone translated his call to action "slap like now" into Afrikaans, which was was a nice surprise
except they translated it as "klap soos dadelik", which I guess does mean "slap, like, now".... but that's "like" as in the filler particle. "soos" can be used as a filler in Afrikaans or to introduce paraphrasing the way "be like" does in casual English ; it's also used in similes/comparisons just like "like", eg. "dit vloei soos water" lit. "it flows like water". but it does not mean "to like something"
on youtube, "slap like now" obviously means the like button, and to translate that — well actually first we need to translate "slap", which in this context refers to the bass guitar technique and not just a random smack, and I *think* the appropriate verb is "slaan" (literally "hit") not "klap", but I'm not a bassist or guitarist so who knows. google was unclear, and since this isn't a real translation job I'm not going to spend more time researching further. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and use "klap" just because it's a more fun word. but with an asterisk.
likes on social media are usually labelled "hou van" (like) which is a verb and hasn't been nounified like "like" has in English. so we'll have to reword it as "slap the like button now" for it to work. (alternatively, in casual Afrikaans we sometimes use the word "laaik" which is just a phonetic respelling of the English word "like")
finally, "dadelik" (immediately) is an adverb of time and should really go before the object or the word order feels a bit unnatural. we could also go with "nou" (now) which is at least a full syllable shorter than "dadelik"
so : "klap dadelik die hou van knoppie" or "klap nou die hou van knoppie" are the proper translations..
neither are as pithy as "slap like now", so I'd suggest dropping the "dadelik" and use "laaik" instead to keep it casual. and that brings it down to three syllables like the original : "klap die laaik" (slap the like)

There's just that sort of music that like you didn't know sounds could like, combine with you to sweep you up into the music itself. It like rocks you down to your souls and you can feel it in your bone marrow for a moment. Being part of the ensemble does this especially like you are the music the music is you etc. And you don't know exactly what it is but you feel like crying and 'beautiful' feels too surface level
