**It’s a privilege** to look forward to the launch of the new iPhone 16, while people in the DRC face modern-day slavery, mistreatment, and abuse as they mine the very minerals that power our cherished phones. Zoya Reebye, founder of Let’s Talk WOC, sheds light on the unimaginable hardships women in the Democratic Republic of the Congo endure in the mines. From being underpaid to facing a rising rate of sexual assault, these women live through a humanitarian crisis the world must not ignore. Even as teenagers, **we can make an impact** by amplifying the voices of those working in the DRC, raising awareness, and holding companies accountable for their actions. 1. **Raise awareness** about the situation in the DRC. The more people know, the more pressure we can put on those responsible. 2. **Be mindful** of your consumer choices. 3. **Do your research.** Investigate the supply chains of companies you buy from, choose refurbished or secondhand electronics, and recycle your devices responsibly. Let’s strive for a world where our technology is not built on exploitation.

on twitter, a viral thread started where people around the world shared their translations of “If I must die”, the last work of Dr Refaat Alareer also known as "the voice of Gaza". A beloved poet, teacher and life-long activist for Palestine, he was recently assassinated along with members of his extended family by a targeted Israeli air strike. His loss leaves a hole in the heart of palestinians all over the world.

GET IN KIDS, WE'RE WRITING YOUR REPS

Pretty much all of us aren't going to be able to immigrate. Canada's not doing great right now anyway (sorry guys). Legally your best bet is to get your state government to protect you and yours. Why? Because the MAGA Republicans are apeshit about states' rights, so might as well use that against them. If you live in a Blue state, now is a good time to write to your state-level reps about safe haven laws for LGBTQIA people and immigrants and safeguarding steps for reproductive health access.

The past few days, a handful of governors like JB Pritzker of Illinois and Maura Healey of Massachusetts have made bold statements about protecting their constituents. California has called a special assembly to try and hammer these safeguards into law.

I'd recommend writing to your reps and the heads of your state's Democratic party in the legislature about following their example. I know I'll be writing to CT Majority Leader Bob Duff, as he and his staff have been very sympathetic about trans rights in the past. The trans community's eye in the sky, Erin Reed, wrote an article about the CA special session and what's legally possible for a legislature to do to covers its figurative ass. Look up your reps! You've got federal, state, and local ones! Are your reps pieces of shit? Write to other reps. I wrote to Bob Duff before I was even a resident of his state. He STILL isn't my rep, but he's the Majority Leader and that's still plenty of influence in a Blue State.

Coming back to this a bit late since I just got home but I am firmly in the camp that trans men and other transmascs absolutely Do Not need to be quiet about how these recent EOs affect us as trans people.

The idea that trans men should just talk about the transphobia we face "in private" instead of being loud, vocal advocates against it alongside trans women is fed shit to be completely frank.

We shouldn't have to neuter conversations about transphobia because some of us are under the impression that because trans women often face the brunt of transphobic abuse (true), that talking about the violence, sexual abuse, and general transphobia targeted at trans men is a less important distraction at best and a bad faith attempt to redirect attention away from trans women at worse (false).

If we want to talk about a group of people who are "routinely denied their right to talk about their oppression" that sentiment can apply just as easily to trans men and transmascs as well.
