wonderful and warm and hopeful story of cam reuniting with his estranged childhood best friend as he tries to deal with his grief for losing the love of his life. cried the whole time i was reading this! but let it be known, it is not tragic whatsoever, it's just beautiful and brilliant! it's about old friends!!!
Henry Henry by Allen Bratton
sorta inspired by shakespeare's henriad, so you already know it's good. the story of the eventful first year out of university of hal lancaster as he tries to avoid his father and spirals and looks for a place to store inside all of that catholic guilt. so fun and heartbreaking and sweet and i really loved it.
Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver
a transposition of dickens' david copperfield and in many ways just as brilliant. set in the mountains of southern appalachia it's the story of a boy growing up through difficulties and addiction and losing his family and finding love. it was wonderful and i loved demon so much!

Black AF History by Michael Harriot
"the un-whitewashed history of america. a more accurate versionofamerican history." just a very interesting and very important book that thought me so much. granted i'm not american but it was very cool to read this book and find out how much of what i knew was fundamentally wrong and conditioned by a white pov.

Chapter Twenty-Five: Cutting Class
Jason cut through the park on his way home for lunch, and he let himself in. Soft music played in throughout the apartment. "Honey, I'm home!" Jason announced. Laney sat on the floor next to Gus. Laney never even looked up. Jason sat across from him and touched his hand. "Baby, you okay?"
Laney nodded and hugged Jason. "Hi, Jay," Laney whispered, "Sorry if I'm being weird. I just woke up from a nap. I did your laundry and met your laundry buddy."
"Nana?" Jason asked. Laney nodded.
Jason leaned forward and kissed Laney's forehead. "Jason, I made paninis. It's in the oven... Two for you two for me." Jason smiled and put on a mitt to get the paninis out of the oven. He put them on a plate and sat back on the floor with Laney.
They ate quietly, and Laney chuckled. "Taste good?" Laney asked. Jason nodded and covered his mouth as he smiled. "Let me see you smile."
"Laney, my mouth was full," Jason smiled, "But thank you so much for lunch, Lane. Do you mind if my mom comes over for dinner?"
"Did you already invite her for tonight?" Laney asked.
"No, not for tonight. Sorry... I meant Saturday night," Jason explained, "Just the three of us. I was thinking we could go out to a little restaurant." Laney nodded and smiled as he ate.
"What does your mom think of me?" Laney asked.
Jason furrowed his brows and looked at Laney. "My mom sent me a text the other day asking if I was being nice to you," Jason leaned over and took a bite of Laney's sandwich. "She knows without you, I probably wouldn't have been so open to forgiving her."
Laney finished eating his sandwich and lay his head on Jason's shoulder. "Well, you know how my parents feel about you. My parents have all but planned our wedding," Laney answered, and Jason gave Laney a bite of his sandwich.
"If our families can survive Thanksgiving at my dad's, they can pick the date," Jason joked, "And then you, me, and our brothers are riding to Chris's game in a week or two." Laney kissed Jason on the cheek and put his plate in the sink. Jason finished his sandwich and washed his hands in the sink before answering emails on his phone.
"What's that?" Laney asked as he nudged Jason. Jason grinned and handed Laney his phone. "Get the fuck out of here!" Laney exclaimed as he jumped up and down before nearly tackling Jason in an embrace.
"It's only the first part like Bart, and I haven't even started printing yet, but I—." Laney kissed Jason and grabbed his face. Jason blushed and pressed his forehead into Laney's shoulder. "I can't remember what I was gonna say."
"Can I see the book?" Laney asked. Jason kissed Laney's neck. "Is that a yes?"
"No. I want you to see it as a hardcover," Jason replied, "I gotta go back to school in a minute, but I was thinking we could take a walk..." Laney nodded, and he got up and put his shoes on. Jason grabbed Laney's hand and his bag, and they walked around the park in circles. Jason swung Laney's hand as they walked ad thunder cracked in the background. Laney's face lit up as lightning struck, and Jason smiled at the feeling of Laney squeezing his hand. "It's gonna rain. It'd be a shame to miss such a nice storm—."
"Jason, you don't have—."
Lightning flashed as they kissed in front of the fountain. Laney walked around the border of the fountain, and Jason tugged at his hand. They walked deep into the center of the park, and as the rain began to fall, Jason whispered, "Remember during winter break when we were kids, and it rained in Metropolis? You told me that nothing was more exciting than watching lightning strike." It started to sprinkle on them.
"You also forgot to mention that we stayed up talking that entire night. You were the first boy I ever opened up to, and it felt good. Like I know you always get on me for not telling you how I feel about things, but you're the only person outside of my family that I'll even talk about my feelings with," Laney replied. Jason softened and looked at the sincerity in Laney's eyes. "I've been thinking about everything that happened lately, and I have some really bittersweet feelings on what I'm about to say—."
"You're breaking up with me, aren't—?"
"What the fuck? No! I wanted to ask you something. Please just listen before you jump to conclusions," Laney chuckled, "Sylvia is moving out, but she's not gonna move in with her girlfriend until I find a new roommate." Jason stopped in his tracks, and thunder roared, startling them both.
Even after the momentary fright wore off from the thunder, Jason stood frozen. "Are you asking me to move in with you?" Jason asked. Laney nodded.
"The nice thing is if you get tired of me, there's another bedroom. Then Gus is getting a little attached to you, and I know we've been together a little less than a month, and I've probably given you high blood pressure in this little bit of time... When I wake up and know you're there, I hear music," Laney whispered, and Jason chuckled. "No, I know it's corny, but I've only ever felt this way around you. I can give you your space when you need it. I can reorganize the spice rack, I can buy different laundry soap—." Jason kissed him.
"Shut up. I have to give thirty days' notice," Jason smiled, and lightning flashed. "Can we tell my mom at dinner?"
The rain poured down harder, and Laney shivered. "Yuh-huh. Now let's go get a coffee. I'm freezing," Laney whispered. Jason gave Laney's hand another little squeeze, and they were on their way.
Once they got their coffees, Jason and Laney walked back to Jason's apartment. "Laney," Jason stopped him after closing the door. "Your clothes are soaked." Laney chuckled and threw off his wet clothes. Jason did the same, and he went back to his room. "I'm gonna throw on some sweats. You want something?" Jason whispered. Laney nodded.
"The green sweatshirt in your drawer," Laney replied, and Jason went through his drawers and pulled on a pair of sweats. "And can we talk about how you take your coffee black?"
"That's how my dad always makes his coffee," Jason replied. Jason came out of his room with the sweater for Laney in one hand, and he carried his hamper in the other. After Laney put on Jason's sweater, they sat on the couch, and Laney took his coffee off the table. Jason lay his head on Laney's lap and turned the tv on. Laney ran his hand through Jason's hair, rustling his fingers through it gently.
Jason curled up and closed his eyes. "I used to hate thunderstorms... When we were up that whole night, we sat close to each other, and all I wanted was to hold your hand. Something about you makes me feel so small in a good way," Jason confessed. Laney smiled and leaned down to press a kiss on Jason's forehead.
Jason's phone rang. "It's Dick... Don't ask me how I know, I just do," Jason mumbled as he sat up and answered the phone. "Hey, Dick."
"You're not in class?" Dick asked. Jason answered with a noise. "Good, are you busy?"
Jason looked at Laney, and Laney shrugged. "I'm with Lane, but we're just watching tv. Why?" Jason asked.
"Oh, tell Lane that I said hi. I actually called to ask about him. How's everything going with you two?" Dick asked.
Jason muted himself. "Can I tell him the good news?" Jason asked. Laney nodded and kissed Jason's cheek.
"Wait, no, let me tell him. Put it on speaker," Laney whispered. Jason un-muted himself and put the phone on speaker.
"You there?" Dick asked.
"Yeah, sorry. Laney just wanted to ask me something... We actually have some good news—."
Dick let out a loud noise over the phone. "Jason, you gotta let me be your best man—." Laney laughed.
"No, we're moving in together. Well, Jason's moving into my place, but not until late next month," Laney announced. Jason smiled and kissed Laney's neck.
"Aww, congrats! Wait, what about your roommate?" Dick asked. "Jason said you had a roommate."
"That's the bittersweet part. Sylvia's moving in with her girlfriend, but not until Jason's officially ready to move in," Laney replied, "How are you?"
"Good, I'm gonna be in San Francisco for a few days, but I wanted to know if everything was good with everybody before I go," Dick replied.
Jason lay back down on Laney's lap. "Why are you going to California?" Jason asked as he closed his eyes.
"Scouting stuff, and I'm visiting some friends," Dick answered.
Laney gave Jason's head a playful scratch, and Jason let out a soft noise. "Did you just purr?" Laney whispered. Jason smiled and touched Laney's hand as an invitation to continue. "Sorry, he's going to sleep. We'll call you back," Laney whispered in his soft tone.
"Goodnight, Jason. Goodnight, Lane," Dick laughed, and he hung up.
"Baby, don't go to sleep," Laney whined. Jason mumbled something, and Laney leaned close to Jason to listen to his voice. "I can't hear you."
Jason opened one eye and mumbled, "Behind my ears again." Laney grinned and rubbed his thumbs in little circles behind Jason's ears. Laney went back to scratching Jason's scalp.
Jason hummed as Laney massaged his head, only stopping to play music on his phone. "I like this a whole lot," Jason whispered. Laney bent forward and pressed a bunch of little kisses to Jason's face. "What song is this?"
"I made this," Laney answered. Jason sat up and opened his eyes. "No, lay back down. It's not even done yet." Jason took Laney's phone and held it up to his ear. Jason sat on his knees on the couch, and Laney pulled him back down. "Come back down."
Jason gave Laney his phone back, and he climbed over Laney to get off the couch. Laney grabbed his waist, and Jason let out a laugh involuntarily. "I'm gonna go shower," Jason laughed, and Laney let go.
"I wanna come with you," Laney playfully whined.
"You can come and sit in there while I shower, but I shower alone," Jason offered. Laney chuckled and took his hand. "You're so cute. Come on."

Since I suggested that Ozpin is Dr Fate, I think that he shouldn’t be the only old person in the Justice League within the RWBY DC AU.
I could imagine Dr Oobleck being the Jay Garrick to Jaune’s Barry Allen, Port could be Wildcat, but who do you think would suit Qrow, Winter and Glynda?
Qrow I can see as Constantine. Scruffy look, surly attitude, tragic backstory. Plus a demon slayer with a scythe sounds very fitting.
This is an odd choice, since she's the only one who fits Winter in terms of personality, but I'm thinking Tahlia Al'Ghul. Intelligent, skilled, lethal, sensitive, and sometimes comes off as a major- Well, you get the idea.
Glynda is harder to place somewhere, especially since there aren't many DC characters for her to fulfill the role. I see both numerous poor-fitted qualities at best, either because the personalities clash, or they're a full-on villain, or because they only share a hair's worth in common. So I offer Oracle for her intelligence, Enchantress for her magic, and Black Canary for the hair and body.
In the meantime of harming my brain with this, I thought of a villainous role to be played. Someone who sides herself with powerful men and makes our heroes lives more miserable. Someone who can be outsmarted, but also outsmart you as well.
I suggest Amanda Waller to be played by Caroline Cordovin.

FINALLY I CAN TALK ABOUT MY AU
This has been rotting in my head for like a year at this point, and I am not gonna do justice in this one post but!! Let's talk about Percy's Mercury!Bart Allen Au.
So the idea of Bart taking Max's mantle is not my own original idea, I see it all the time on comic book twitter and tumblr and it's a very common concept and it makes a lot of sense. Given how Bart failed Terrifically at being the flash, and so if he were to grow out of the Impulse title and role, I think this would be that story (if that makes any sense??). Cue: my rambles
So there's a lot of parts where I could start this AU, but hear me out, what if we start with an alternate ending to Mercury Falling? Inertia pulls a rotting Max Mercury into the speedforce and Impulse barrels through to try and save his parental mentor figure. Bart canonically wants to save both Thad and Max, and I think at the state Bart was with his training meant that the ability of him saving either of them when all chaos breaks loose in the speedforce is incredibly thin. In a good ending Bart ends up saving Thad and Max and there is a possible start of Thaddeus redemption arc, in the real ending we got Bart saves Max and Thad poofs into speedforce dust, and in a bad ending Bart watches Thaddeus and Max fade in front of him.
Can you take a guess at which one I'm gonna pick for this AU? What can I say, fuckers love angst (I am fuckers).
Ok so Bart crawls out of the speedforce, torn in shambles and in front of him is Helen and Max's colleague who was attempting to treat him. They all stare at each other with thick disbelief of what had just happened, and neither of the adults can find it in themselves to ask the quivering teen in shambles the thick details. All they can manage is to pick up the boy and comfort him, rest assured he is safe at the end of the day. The rest of the details follow out similar to the end of Impulse, where when Max goes missing the Allen family decide to assign Jay Garrick as Bart's caretaker since he can continue mentoring him and be the best fit. When Bart moves in with the Garricks, across the country and away from his school friends and Helen, he is still injured and recovering, which he shouldn't be injured since speedsters usually only take like what? a few hours and they're back on their speedy feet? Jay speculates Bart still has broken bones because they not only settled in the wrong spots, making it impossible to make a proper recovery (unless he wants to repetitively break the same bones until they set them in the right spots) or because the injuries forming in the speedforce threw the body and metabolism in for a loop.
Either way, from this point on the canon stays loosely the same. Bart stays with Jay, learns with him, and some Young Justice shenanigans ensue. Up until we get to around the Flash Rebirth comic, I'm gonna mess around with this point. Wally notices that when Barry comes back the speedforce is acting very strange again, and so does Barry as they both hear the souls of Max and Johnny Quick in the speedforce. This peaks Bart's curiosity, and just like when he was a younger kid he's gonna try to make a run back into the speedforce to check it out. Everyone advises Bart not to run back into the speedforce, a whole dictionary's worth of reasons why it's not a good idea, but Bart will stay stubborn and keep working his way up into breaking that barrier.
Bart eventually enters the speedforce looking for Max, and he enters the speedforce a handful of amount of times before finding him. He treats these visits like entering a containment zone, enter for only a short time and once anything feels funny evacuation ASAP. When he finds Max, on his seventh run through, the man is ethereal, what was a conduit of the speedforce is now a spectral image of what the speedforce captured him as. The two manage to hold conversation in a thick maelstrom of kinetic energy, which now limits their time as Bart is starting to get battered up for being a freshie to the intense form of travel.
It was obvious that Max couldn't go back to earth with Bart, as his body wasn't the same and it would put the two in a whole bunch of unnecessary issues. When it's getting to that point where Bart is hitting that upper limit of speedforce exposure, he asks Max if he could see him soon. In the typical always cryptic Max manner, he just laughs and puts a phantasmic hand on Bart's shoulder and tells him that he'll know where to find him. This is what I'd consider to be the transfer of "zen speedforce master" powers to Bart, and it kinda fucks him up you know, it's a lot of beyond radioactive energy being transferred into one of the most unstable conduits. He's gonna knock out and wake up on the floor of Jay's basement with the ability to feel everything moving, and at what speed they're moving.
The shuffling of Jay and Joan cooking dinner together is magnified in a sense that even Clark Kent couldn't understand it, he could clock down Wally running to the Titan's tower, he could feel Tim Drake grapple building to building. It's a lot to take in, but he could also very faintly feel a swirling force in him, a very soothing force that reminds him so faintly of that house in Manchester, Alabama.

For the ao3 asks: 3, 12, 29?
3.) What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?
This is a hard pick because there are several in there that I'm particularly proud of.
I think collectively I'm most proud of The Man in the Lightning series. It's definitely a crack fic idea to me still - but it was a fun challenge to make a version of Eobard who is distinctly likable despite having murdered Nora as well as crafting a version of Barry who is understandably grateful Nora is dead. I wanted them to still be recognizable as variations of their canon selves, but very different takes on the characters too. And, of course, for the romantic ship to make sense without being manipulative on either end. Barry's up front about wanting to convince Eobard what they're building is worth staying in the past for and Eobard is too bewildered by Barry's clear interest in him to do any real manipulating on that front before Barry's Sherlock Scan Skills tell him that Eobard and the Reverse Flash kiss the same, ergo they are the same.
It's a series that I look forward to returning to, but I'm really satisfied with what's already there.
12.) How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year?
Oh gosh. A lot. Um... let me check. And this is not gonna be an exact number because I know I have them scattered all over the place.
We'll say about 55 WiP files I have an active interest in and I'm gonna stop counting now because I have a lot that are from many years ago for fandoms I'm not currently interested in writing for but who knows what'd happen if I rewatched/reread/replayed the source material.
There's definitely a lot of things I wanted to write this year that I didn't get around to because between the reno in the spring and the summer of the wasps, I was pretty burnt out a lot of the time. So there's a lot I started but never finished and hopefully I'll be able to finish those in 2024 despite having more reno plans. (Much smaller scale reno plans, thankfully, I can't take another round of the closet debacle.)
29.) Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?
It was a very complicated question. Possibly more than either of them could really articulate. Barry had to take a moment to really put thought into how he phrased things. “The future is yet unwritten. Just because we see a possible future doesn’t mean it’s written in stone; our choices determine what really happens. But the past makes us who we are. To unwrite that would be to destroy our selves,” Barry said. “Jay was always insistent that I live my life for myself. He’d have been disappointed if I let myself get so caught up in living in the past that I stopped having a future altogether. Especially if I did it over him.”
Barry Allen (E-90) talking to Barry Allen (E-1) from Homeward
It was a difficult conversation to write, but I really like how it all fell out. And though neither Barry knows it, this conversation is what stops E-1 Barry from causing Flashpoint. I really enjoyed writing the whole fic (thanks @avatarskywalker78 for requesting it) and coming up with headcanons for the Allen twins of E-90.

( michael cimino / 23 / cis man / he/him ) — did you see HOPE'S MERCER'S BOYFRIEND'S BROTHER, CHASEN KING-REYES, wandering around the mercer hollow today? i heard around town that the BIKE MECHANIC/STUDENT is QUICK-WITTED, and PERTINACIOUS, but also RASH, and CAGEY. people say that they remind them of THE SOFT FLUTTER OF TURNING PAGES, RUNNING RED LIGHTS, and BATTERED LEATHER JACKETS, but how well can you ever really know someone in mercer hollow? ( jay / 26 / mst / she/her)
✧*・゚𝒃𝒊𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒉𝒚
up until he was eight, chasen was cj king. the only people that were ever allowed to call him that were his parents: marian and waylon king. his mom was a physics teacher at the high school two blocks away from their cute, little two-story house in the suburbs. his father owned a landscaping company and planted the azalea bushes underneath the tree house he built with chasen the summer he turned six. it was pretty close to perfect—and then his parents died in a car crash.
the only family he had left was his grandma with early-onset dementia and his uncle with a drinking problem, so he went into the oregeon foster care system. after bouncing around from home to home for a few years ( no family waned a sullen selective-mute who liked percy shelley and edgar allen poe for long ), chasen was dumped into the place for all the old and unwanted kids like him: a group home. he learned pretty quickly that you couldn’t be the kid with the extensive poetry collection in a group home—and you couldn’t cry, not even quietly into your pillow at night. chasen wasn’t interested in being anywhere in the food chain, but he wasn’t going to be the kid who got pushed around, so he laid a kid out with a punch to the gut on his third day there and kicked him until he stopped smirking. he lost his privileges for a month, but it was worth it to be left alone.
when he was fifteen, a strange lady showed up at the home with an even stranger man. apparently, his father wasn't his father. trippy. looking back, it was kind of obvious. people always asked the white couple where they adopted their brown son from. but his dad was his dad, and mr. reyes was just a rich guy who his uncle tried to extort. for a long time, chasen wished that mr. reyes would've just payed his uncle off and left him alone, but things got better slowly. his siblings were...weird, but his dad ended up being kind of cool.
chasen did very well in school, despite transferring so often as a kid. his only friends were books, and he liked it that way. he got a full-ride to liberty after graduating first in his class, and he never looked back.
thanks to his mom, chasen had an early relationship with science. he liked working with his hands and figuring out how to take things apart and put them back together again. it was only natural that he went into mechanical engineering. he started fixing bikes at the local garage for spare change while he worked on getting his masters.
✧*・゚𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕
character inspo: ron swanson ( parks and rec ), oscar martinez ( the office ), jason todd ( dc comics ), jess mariano ( gilmore girls ), buttercup ( powerpuff girls ), bob belcher ( bob’s burgers ), louise belcher ( bob's burgers )
chasen likes to keep to himself. if you don’t bother him, he has no reason to bother you, but if you poke the bear...watch out.
he has a quick-temper, but he always tries to punch a wall instead of a person lmao. progress is progress, okay.
he’s usually pretty quiet, and he unfortunately ( or fortunately in his opinion ) has resting bitch face. when he does speak, he is usually being sarcastic or deadpan. def not a people-person, but he’s weirdly good with kids and great with animals bc they lack any pretense lmao.
is a little shit around people he knows well. classic baby of the family shit.
loves poetry and literature ( the romantic, victorian, and modern eras, specifically ), but he doesn’t talk about that lmao. he’s a lot more likely to talk about the cars he restores in his spare time or video games.
not a sports person, but he works out religiously for “health reasons.”
he hates being in charge, but he also hates being told what to do. his ideal work environment is being given a task and a deadline to complete it by without any instructions he needs to follow lmao. he’ll get it done, but he’ll do it his way.
he’s used to people having a certain perception about him, so he usually keeps the smart thing to himself. bc. no one expects anything from an idiot with anger management issues.
oh yeah. he has major anger management issues. in fact, he’s currently IN anger management rn for punching a douche at his dad's last gala
has a v ‘eat the rich’ attitude from growing up lower working class, but now he is rich, so. it's weird. he doesn't like it lmao.
he as a not-so secret soft side if you ever see him with kids or animals.
most of his bluster is a giant show for the people around him, and that’s why it’s so obnoxiously loud.

CRITICAL RACE FEARY
Now playing:
The Blackening--Eight attractive African-American college friends gather at a fancy cabin in the woods for a Juneteenth reunion. After a short stretch of playing spades and drinking over-sugared vodka Kool-Aid, they quickly find themselves at the mercy of a maniac, forced to play a twisted board game called "The Blackening" with their lives as the stakes.
The game is focused on black identity; the questions involve black history and culture, and the group is forced to single out a victim on the basis of which of them is "the blackest."
The director is Tim Story, who helmed the Ride Along movies. Here he's working with a really well-crafted, intricately funny script by Tracy Oliver and Dewayne Perkins (based on a short by the sketch-comedy group 3Peat) that teases the long and intense love-hate relationship between black audiences and horror movies. It does this less subtly, perhaps, than Jordan Peele's films do, but with a solidly higher ratio of out-loud laughs.
Story generates a fine ensemble buzz with his excellent cast, all of them unknown to me except for SNL veteran Jay Pharoah, and Diedrich Bader as the token "Ranger White." The comedy outweighs the terror here, although the masked, crossbow-wielding killer is a creepy presence. Overall, this movie is the meta-slasher send-up that Scream only thought it was--truly witty, and truly about something.
The Flash--This feature vehicle for the venerable DC superhero has a terrific opening. It involves [spoiler!] a collapsing hospital building, and our harried hero's efforts to corral a maternity ward's worth of newborns plummeting from a window. There's an inventive panache to the multi-tasking gags here that Buster Keaton himself might have appreciated. But the exhilaration of this set piece isn't reflected in what follows.
Launched in 1940 as Jay Garrick with a Mercury-like helmet and rebooted, with the winged cowl, as Barry Allen in the '50s, The Flash can move so fast that he can not only dodge bullets or cross a continent in seconds, he can literally do what Cher only wishes she could do: turn back time. In this story, Barry (a charmingly callow Ezra Miller) decides to go back and prevent the murder of his mother (Maribel Verdú) which of course screws up the space-time continuum. As a result he must team up with a slacker version of himself from a different time-stream to undo the mess he's made, and deal with multiple versions of iconic characters, including Michael Keaton enjoyably returning to the role of a rather Howard Hughes-like Bruce Wayne/Batman.
If all this sounds to you a lot like the "Multiverse" from over at Marvel, I can only tell you it seemed that way to me too, and not to this movie's benefit. Despite some playful uses, the Multiverse's bottomless stockpile of do-overs and variant replacement characters was already getting on my nerves in the Marvel flicks, and this DC spin on it has the same effect: a dilution of the dramatic stakes.
There's some amusement, I suppose, in the many cameos by various versions of the characters, but it's a dorky, narratively inert amusement, more like a Renaissance masque or pageant than an epic. It feels like fan service, of a particularly OCD kind; like Charles V winding and re-winding his clocks, it's a futile effort to synchronize different versions of pop myths that should simply be enjoyed in their wonderfully irreconcilable diversity.

Recommends: THE STACKS POD - Traci asks a question that absolutely blows my mind, to the point of not remembering what the answer was. “Who is your audience and are those the people reading your book?“ Is the best question I have ever heard in my life. The Stacks is my fave Wednesday and occasional Friday bonus epi listen… it’s pinned to the TOP of my podcast list so it always plays first. Give Traci a listen and join us in the Stacks Pack.
Ep. 314 Being Chesty with Andrew Boryga
Traci asked me why I love this question. My response- Authors (who aren't white) have the added hurdle of WANTING to write to a siloed audience but publishing wanting to be more broad and vast (read: white readers) which makes it hard to reach your target audience bc the marketing approach is different. Asking this q especially to a debut author gives us insight into whether they see what efforts their agent/publisher marketing dept are making toward their books, and is that at the expense of the people you're trying to reach? It's also about some of the conversations authors are having about book covers. Slapping those cute illustrated covers on a steamy romance or a lit fiction book works against us because cover branding is a promise to the reader. If I write a steamy romance but my cover looks like a funny romcom, am I reaching the audience that wants to read steamy romance? And if I hit romcom and get 2 star reviews for all the sex and profanity bc they didn't expect that, is it hurting me?
My second rec ties into my first and it was kismet that it played right after that episode. I listen to a long list of writing, author, publishing pods and one of my faves is the Wish I'd Known Then podcast. Authors Jami Albright and Sara Rosett interview self-published authors about how they found success as well as lessons they've learned. This week’s episode is on author branding and is worth a listen or two. I’m definitely going to run it back.
How to Find Your Author Brand - Wish I'd Known Then For Writers
Both episodes echo conversations that writers have been having about cover, about voice, about standing out but blending in. Both episodes are great and I highly recommend them!

The other day @themarsbar and @sillylittleflower and I were talking about reaction videos and our love of certain reactors. I’ve gone down the reaction rabbit hole and watched pretty much every reactor I could find. Because there are so many, I ended up making a list of who I liked and who I didn’t so I’d remember by the time S3 came out. I’m gonna put out some of my favorites in case anyone hasn’t seen some of them, or has recommendations not on the list, or just wants to scream in the notes section with me about certain videos.
Note: I’m only going to list some my favorite ones and not get into who I didn’t like as much because I’m not super comfy putting that stuff on main… Feel free to slide into my DMs though 😅
Brad Evans - Anyone who already watches reactions has probably already seen Brad. But if you haven’t, I highly recommend. Once you start watching different reaction videos you realize a lot of them don’t pull you in as much because half the time you’re just watching someone watch tv. But Brad’s are always entertaining. He puts in a lot of meme edits and adds his own funny commentary. He also likes the show. Which seems basic, but you’d be surprised. You can tell some reactors just watch YR for the content and some reactors are actually into it. I just remember Brad crying at the end of S1 (weren’t we all) and during the the last 10 minutes of S2 he had to get up and stand behind his couch because he was freaking out (weren’t we all).
Brad freaking out behind his couch
Harry Allen - Love Harry. He doesn’t do editing or silly jokes, but he is very, very thoughtful. At least a handful of times each episode he’ll stop to do an analysis of the character / plot or to go on a rant about something. He always apologizes for stopping the episode to talk and its like “never apologize, Harry! This is what make your videos the best!” His thoughts are very articulate and very fair. Even if he doesn’t like what the character is doing, he still tries to understand from their point of view. You can tell he’s actually invested. Top recommendation, honestly.
A Story Worth Telling - Josh and Alex are the best. They also don’t do any crazy edits, but they’re both very witty. They play off of each other well and it makes you feel like your watching the show with friends. It’s nice to watch them have conversations about what’s going on instead of just one person’s random comments every few minutes. I also appreciate that they play devil’s advocate for each other. Sometimes one of them will have a take I don’t necessarily agree with, but then the other person is quick to say “ok, but maybe it’s also…” So it feels like their thoughts on shows are well rounded. And just like with my other top reactors, you can tell they actually care about the show. They’re just very fun and lovely to watch.
Them in their crowns watching the finale
EverybodyLovesRae- Rachel only had S2 reactions on her channel, but I still recommend her videos. She does the same type of meme edits as Brad and gets super passionate about the show (especially Wilmon). She doesn’t do too much analysis, but the commentary she gives feels just like the commentary you’d see in the Tumblr tags. It feels like a friend sitting on the couch with you getting excited or mad or anxious watching each scene. Very genuine and sweet.
Rachel freaking out at the finale
Jay Per View - When I first went down the rabbit hole, I saw quite a few people recommend him. And I’ll be honest, when I first started his videos, it took me a minute. He can give off “bro” vibes and he reacts to Young Royals exactly the same way someone reacts to watching a sports game. You’ll get something like “oh he’s doing it! Alright!!” *loud clapping* “LET’S GOOO!!” But it becomes endearing. He’s just super passionate about what he watches and his enthusiasm becomes kind of infectious. Plus he’s low key funny. Out of no where he’ll pull out some random one-liner that has me cackling.
Jay cheering on the ending lol
Ricky Reviews - Ricky is very, very sweet. Like a lovely friend you’re watching the show with. He gets super excited during scenes and even cried during both season finales (didn’t we all). You can tell the general theme of my “favorites” list is a reactor who seems like an actual fan of the show. Definitely Ricky.
Ricky living his best life during the finale
Abnormally Adam - Another reactor that took me a minute to get used to. He can be a bit over the top and talks a mile a minute, but you can tell he is genuinely invested and passionate about the show, especially Wilmon. I appreciate that he replayed the “I love you” scene multiple times and just kept reacting to it lol
ChachiSays (previously Joshing Joshua) - He doesn’t do edits or heavy analysis, but I still enjoyed his reviews. He was passionate during each episode and, just like with Ricky Reviews, teared up during both finales (didn’t we all). Very sweet.
The Cornerverse - Georgia is a lot more reserved and soft spoken than most of the other reactors on my list, but she’s very sweet and has some good thoughtful commentary. I just remember during Wille’s speech she had to stop the video to process what he said because she was freaking out so much (weren’t we all). She’s very lovely.
Jackie-Ross Lavender - Jackie is a lovely man. He can be a little intense and dramatic (as shown by his thumbnails in which every single one is a picture of his head in his hands lol), but he genuinely loves the show and loves Wilmon. I joined his Patreon and he has reactions to Edvin and Omar interviews as well.
Jackie being very intense and dramatic lol
Alex Chris - up front I’m gonna warn that he only puts the first episodes of S1 and S2 on YouTube and everything else is on his Patreon. I wish he didn’t do that because I really enjoy his reactions and this cuts it off from people who don’t want to pay. But if you do want to check out his stuff, he has thoughtful commentary (kind of reminds me of Harry Allen) and he’s funny. Not in a jokey way, but he’s kind of goofy and his goofiness makes him endearing.
FictionalDarling - she does each season’s reaction as one hour long video (2 videos total). So the upside is that they’re very easy to binge, but the downside is a lot of the scenes get reduced or skipped to have 6 episodes fit into one video. I would still recommend them though. She adorable and has funny comments and overall entertaining commentary.
Niall No Chill - he reminds me a bit of Brad. He does similar meme edits and also has enthusiastic funny commentary. He’s entertaining to watch along with. He also makes some very good guesses. He figured out how Felice was going to be able to catch August in S1. I was impressed.
David vs Film - the most recent reactor that I’ve watched. I enjoyed him. He doesn’t do any edits or heavy analysis, but he’s genuinely invested and he was also entertaining to watch. He also had some funny little one liners. He kept calling the music teacher Older Anne Hathaway and now I can’t unsee it 😂
#Reaction videos make me happy because I know there will still be months of content even after S3 comes out#Months to relive the show over and over#young royals#young royals reactions

Chapter Nineteen: Nuggies
Jason and Laney spent the next few weeks spending the night at each other's apartments. As Laney's next appointment neared, he seemed edgier than Jason was used to. The night before Lois was supposed to come, Jason tried to talk to him, sitting him down. "Lane," Jason whispered, "What's wrong?"
Laney lay his head on Jason's lap and flipped through tv channels. "Why would something be wrong?" Laney mumbled. Jason sighed. "What?"
"We know each other too well to—."
"Too well to what?" Laney snapped. "Because I have so much—. I—. Never fucking mind."
Laney got up and grabbed his jacket and keys. "Lane," Jason raised his voice, "Where are you going?"
"Out, I'll be back. Jay, don't get me wrong, but I really don't want to fight right now," Laney frowned as he slipped his shoes on. He left Jason alone in his apartment, and he drove to a bar. Laney ordered a drink, and he was greeted by a hand on his shoulder.
"Jon Lane?" the voice asked, and Laney tensed up. "Can we talk?"
Laney downed his drink before shaking his head. "Caleb, you have to stop following me," Laney mumbled, "And stop calling me Jon Lane... I gave you the benefit of the doubt the first few times, but this has got to stop."
"Just hear me out, Lane—."
"Vodka," Laney ordered as he downed his second drink, "What the hell do you want, Caleb? Why can't you just leave me alone? I've got a boyfriend now."
"I know, I saw... Lane, I just couldn't stay away. I know you're mad at me—." Laney knocked the bottom of his glass against the table.
"Three more... Caleb, I'm not mad at you. I'm disgusted by you. I despise you, and I want you to disappear or die or do something somewhere where I never have to see you again."
"Lane, don't you remember how much you used to love me? I miss the way you laugh, the way you touch your hair when you're nervous, I—. Don't you miss us," Mr. Forrester whispered as he placed his hand over Laney's.
"Don't touch me," Laney recoiled as he reached for his third drink. "Don't ever touch me. I don't miss you at all... And I'm telling you for the last time to leave me alone before I get the police involved." Mr. Forrester got up and turned to leave.
"Lane, are you sure that's what you want?" Mr. Forrester asked. Laney nodded.
"Just stay away," Laney mumbled as he went back to his drinks. His phone rang, and he let it go to voicemail. He was halfway through his sixth drink when he got another call. "Sup," Laney slurred.
"Lane, where are you?" Jason asked.
"Takin' care of somethin'," Laney answered as he struggled to pick up his next drink.
"Your mom's here—."
"No, she's not... No, 'cause I don't see her anywhere," Laney laughed and covered his mouth before whispering, "I don't see her."
"Jonathan Lane Kent, where the hell are you?" Lois asked.
"No, no, no, Mommy... I'm an adult," Laney shook his finger at the phone.
"Lane, don't you hang up on me!" Lois yelled. Laney chuckled as he hung up and he finished his drink.
The bartender shook his head. "You're cut off," she whispered as she gave him a glass of water.
"Then why are you drinking—? Why you pour—? Fuck it," Laney mumbled as he gave her his card and drank his water. His phone rang again, and he took his card back before answering the phone. "Hey!"
"Laney, it's Dad," Clark whispered.
"I'm gonna go stand outside," Laney replied, "I won't drive... Hiiiii, Dad..." Laney stood outside in the cold air, and thunder cracked.
"Lane, I know how much you love thunderstorms. How nice would it be to watch with me, like old times?" Clark asked.
"Oooh! Okay! But how can you watch it with me? You're all the way in 'Tropolis," Laney mumbled. Laney got a video request, and he answered. "Hey, Dad."
"Nice little spot you're in. Where is that?" Clark asked. Thunder cracked a second time, and Laney saw a flash of light.
"Oooh! Dad, did you see? I'm at the Iceberg... It's a bar... I'm drunk," Laney chuckled before bursting into tears.
Clark softened and tutted. "Hey, what's the matter?" Clark asked.
"I need someone to come get me," Laney whimpered, "I'm scared." Clark nodded.
"I'll send someone for you. It's okay. Laney, take a deep breath and look at me. I'm gonna send someone, and they're gonna pick you up and take you straight home. Would I lie to you?" Clark asked. Laney shook his head and stumbled.
"Can they take me to nuggets first?" Laney asked as he wiped his nose on his sleeve. Clark nodded. "Will you stay with me until they get here?"
"Of course. Hey, why'd you—?" Laney started to cry again. "What's wrong?" Clark asked.
"Mom's gonna yell at me," Laney sobbed.
"Laney, she's just worried about you. Mom loves you so much. I love you so much... Jonathan, look at me. It's okay," Clark reassured, "Do you trust me?"
"Uh-huh," Laney murmured. It started to rain, and Laney walked out into the parking lot.
"Laney, please don't stand out in the rain," Clark whispered. A car pulled up and rolled its window down.
"No! Go 'way. I told you," Laney cried, "Dad, did you send him?"
"Who?" Clark asked.
"Caleb, just go!" Laney hollered.
"Lane, who is Caleb?" Clark asked.
Laney turned to go back inside, and he sat at a table. "Caleb Forrest-. Mom coming to get me?" Laney asked.
"Laney, do not leave with anyone but Mom or Jason," Clark whispered, "Okay?"
"I'm not going-. I would not go anywhere with him. Nuh-uh," Laney mumbled as tears rolled down his cheeks. Laney sat on the phone with Clark for several more minutes until Jason came in looking for him. "J.P.! 'S raining!"
"Lane, thank God!" Jason exclaimed as he hugged Laney.
"Buh bye, Dad," Laney mumbled before hanging up and putting his arms around Jason. "Sorry I was so mean."
"It's okay. I'm just happy you're okay... What happened?" Jason asked. Laney dug in his pocket and gave Jason his keys.
"I don't need to drive. I'm drunk... Can you take me to get nuggets?" Laney asked. Jason helped him up and took him outside to his car. "Jasoooon! Can I have nuggets?" Laney walked around the car as the rain fell, and he stuck out his tongue to catch the droplets.
"Yes, you can have nuggets. Now get in the car. It's freezing out here," Jason whispered as he got in the driver's seat and reached over to buckle Laney's seatbelt. Jason drove Laney to a drive-thru and ordered him a coffee and chicken nuggets. "Laney, do you want sauce?"
"No... Gotta use a bathroom," Laney mumbled. Jason sighed and asked if the bathroom was open. Laney got out of the car and stumbled into the restaurant to use the bathroom, and he walked back to the car to eat his food. He sat still for a moment before screwing up his face. Jason smoothed Laney's hair down in the back while Laney ate. Laney took a few sips of his coffee to sober up a little.
"Lane, why'd you do this?" Jason asked softly.
"It's 'cause he won't leave me alone... I couldn't tell you because I was scared. He's showed up a bunch of times, and my mom and dad don' even know," Laney mumbled. Jason took one of Laney's chicken nuggets. "I just wanted to get out."
"Lane, baby, you can tell me anything," Jason whispered, "You haven't thrown up, have you?" Laney shook his head, and Jason took a sip of his coffee. "You and your mom are gonna stay the weekend with me. She dropped me off at the bar, but she's still pretty upset."
Laney started to cry. "Lane," Jason whispered. Jason parked Lane's car in the lot and helped Laney up to his apartment, and unlocked the door. "Okay, baby... Let's get your shoes off." Lois came out of the bathroom with her arms crossed. Laney chewed his lip.
Laney wiped his face with his sleeve. "Mama... I didn't mean—."
"Lane, I'm so-." Lois walked over and embraced Laney. "I'm still mad at you."
"Mom, I'm so sorry," Laney hugged her. Lois made a soft humming noise as she held him.
"Go to bed, okay? We'll talk tomorrow," Lois whispered, "I'll take the couch." Laney got up and followed Jason to bed. Laney plopped down on the bed, and Jason helped him out of his jeans and button-up before taking his own sweatshirt off to dry Laney's hair. Jason stripped down and climbed in bed with Laney.
"Jay, I'm sorry—."
"It's okay, baby. Go to bed, okay? I don't really understand what happened tonight, but I want you to go to bed before you get sick," Jason whispered as he rubbed Laney's back. "Go to bed." Laney nodded and let Jason put his CPAP on for him before he closed his eyes. Jason lay awake for a while, making sure Laney stayed asleep.
Laney got up after a few hours of sleep and threw up in Jason's bathroom. Lois sat up and locked eyes with Laney on his way back to Jason's room. "Stomach still sick?" Lois asked. Laney rubbed his arm.
"Mom, Forrester was there... I think I have a lot to explain to you in the morning," Laney whispered.
Lois ran a hand through her hair. "Okay... Okay, go to bed, and we'll talk in the morning. And Cricket, try not to do this again, okay? Jason was worried sick about you," Lois whispered. Laney went back to bed, and Jason put his arm over Laney.
"Jay... Jay, are you awake?" Laney asked. Jason nodded with his eyes closed. "I'm sorry about leaving earlier."
Jason kissed Laney's forehead. "I would kiss you, but you just threw up," Jason mumbled. He didn't open his eyes. "I just want to understand."
"I promise I'll explain it all tomorrow. Okay?" Laney whispered. Jason nodded.
"Do you feel better?" Jason asked. Laney didn't answer. "Please tell me you're not gonna throw up again."
"Why are you so calm?" Laney asked. Jason opened one eye.
"Because you're okay... I mean, I was definitely pissed earlier, but I was so relieved you were okay that I didn't really care about being angry anymore," Jason whispered, "Lane, I'm not gonna let anyone hurt you... And I can't be mad at you if you didn't do anything wrong. So, go to bed. Your mom and I will still be here in the morning."
Jason drifted back off to sleep, leaving Laney awake. Laney turned over on his side, watching Jason as he slept. Jason's warmth made Laney's eyes grow heavy, and it seemed as if the moment he closed his eyes, Laney woke up in a panic. Jason sat up on his feet and pulled Laney up into an embrace. "Jason," Laney whispered, having forgotten he was at Jason's apartment. Jason held him.
"You're at my apartment. You're with me," Jason whispered. Laney sat back after Jason let him go and covered his face.
"I can't remember how—. Did I do something? Did I say something?" Laney asked as he pulled his hair back. Jason shook his head.
"You said someone was bothering you, but no, you didn't do anything or say anything for me to be mad at," Jason whispered, "What did you think you did?"
Laney took a few deep breaths to calm himself. He shivered in the cold air of the bedroom, and Jason put his arm around Laney. "I don't remember leaving the bar... I don't—."
"Lane, I picked you up and took you to get chicken nuggets," Jason reassured, "You were on the phone with your dad, and then you were with me."
"But Forrester, where was—. Where did he go? Did Mom see him?" Laney asked.
"A car pulled off when we got there, but I didn't see who was driving. I think your mom saw, but I dunno. I just wanted to get you home," Jason whispered. Laney's alarm went off on his phone, and he turned it off. "Laney, you don't have to get dressed. I think your mom canceled your appointment."
Laney got out of bed. "Mom!" Laney called, and Jason slipped on his pajama pants as he scrambled to follow Laney out of the bedroom. "Mom!"
Lois sat up and pushed her hair back. "Laney, lower your voice—."
"Why did you cancel our appointment? I need to go today," Laney paced back and forth in Jason's living room.
"Laney, you were drunk last night. You're still drunk—."
"I'm not drunk. I'm stressed out! Mom, please undo it—."
Jason grabbed Laney by his shoulders. "Laney, look at me. I'm gonna make you breakfast, and then we'll call your dad, and the four of us can talk. Okay?" Jason suggested. Laney nodded, and Jason kissed Laney on the cheek.

Royalty and family my years as a young king album ( Is the diamonds is my mood forever video Jay Z and Beyonce theme and conceptual album / mixtape ) it is like the court of royalty me being a king and sitting on a throne and listening to the grievances of the people , Jay Z and Beyonce is the King and Queen that gave me the Co sign and the new chance in life to get it together and I'm taking it and running with it , self executive produced and I'm the lead actor in the lead role as shorty from the Diamonds is my mood forever video I'm clean shining and sparkling doing the damn thing as a king 👑 in my city 🏙️ New York City and internationally I'm black royalty according to the album and animated series related to Jay Z and Beyonce this is a great album I want it to be cinematic and entertaining with alot of big songs and sounds is on there it is Watch the throne and unfinished business and best of both worlds all rapped into that Royalty and family album it's a keeper I like the concept of it the idea is hot and I love the leading role yeah I'm doing it I feel great about it and have only happy thoughts about the project wish me luck .
I'm that one in a million that wins his second chance at life and second stage a true American idol story they cry when presented with their gift of that chance on stage I said thank you to Jay Z and Beyonce they took me on for his roc nation record label and Tidal music streaming service a digital service provider I will get out to it when I get to it I just want my critics off of me they are ungrateful and evil and I said yeah to Jay Z and Beyonce no lie I parted ways with people from Harlem parted ways with Vado his music hot though I love it go check that out but we moved on from each other from family and friends they could move on from me and let's go our own and enjoy our own careers I'm from Brooklyn but I don't know nobody out here no more or the Bronx and Queens I just wanted other people that work for other teams to back off of me and stop hating on me I mean everything got my name on it and is named after me in my image and likeness and I sign the common person money on their check for them and won New York City politically by building it and helping see my list of New York City accomplishments and all my other accomplishments on my other lists and yeah I retire from social media this is my last post I know I'm good and no thank you to my enemies attaching themselves to me and being able to get my services then try to throw dirt on my name and work to sabotage me they can stop following me anywhere I go and harassing me and stop heckling me and go away I thank it has been a pleasure helping the people of New York and the world music and business is next for me and I'm taking my time getting to it ain't no rush plus I get my life back from people that always hated me and I get to love myself and write and think for myself . I had to cancel working in teams and go it alone I said no to public controlling me they set you up all the time then try to get their favorites to set it off on me because I'm a star ⭐ so I'm letting Beyonce know that I ain't working with nobody from my past in Harlem New York City and no I didn't ask anybody in Brooklyn help or any other borough help I help them though I help this community but I don't want people attaching themselves to me telling me what to do or sabotage me and no to the media all channels of you guys they are racist if it wasn't for West Indians I would be dead I'm lucky they work where In at so no to the programs that isn't Jay Z and Beyonce program I know it because I'm the one they talking too and living it out so I will teach and train myself no disrespect to any one I'm good .

Toy Story 5 Release Date: When Will Be Released?
Elemental, Turning Red, and Soul are just a few of Pixar's recent original features, but the studio isn't reluctant to revisit its established brands. Toy Story, the first Pixar picture featuring Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, was released in 1995, and its spin-off starring Chris Evans, Lightyear, is expected to do well in 2022. It's been four years since the last Toy Story film, but does it mean the franchise is done for good? https://twitter.com/Kapan/status/1623481128689491970
Will There Be A Toy Story 5?
You bet! Toy Story 5 is officially in the works, along with sequels to two of Disney's other iconic brands, CEO Bob Iger announced in February 2023, over four years after the release of the fourth film in the series. When Will Toy Story 5 Be Released?
Toy Story 5 has not yet been given a release date, but based on the pattern of past installments, we can estimate when it might hit theatres. Toy Story 4 was, for example, first announced in 2014, with a release date set for 2019. If work on the fifth picture is as lengthy as the previous four, we can anticipate its debut in theatres around the year 2028. That being the case, you may be waiting a while. Must read this article Ashton Kutcher Age. It's possible that the film's production schedule could be accelerated, and we'll update this page when new details emerge.
Toy Story 5 Cast
Despite Chris Evans' portrayal of a different version of Buzz Lightyear in the spin-off film, Toy Story Lightyear, we can almost guarantee that Tom Hanks will return to his role as Woody in Toy Story 5. You might also be interested to read this article Billy Beane Net Worth. As mentioned above, Tim Allen appears to have already confirmed on Twitter that he will be back as Buzz. Many of the characters from Toy Story 4 could make a comeback as well, including Andy's original toys, Bonnie's toys (including Forky), and the lost toys Woody met with Bo Peep. Don Rickles and Estelle Harris, who played Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, respectively, are two actors who regretfully cannot return to their roles. We hope you like this article Zip String Net Worth. The former passed away in 2017 but made a cameo in the film's fourth installment through the use of recorded interviews with him. The latter passed away in 2022. https://youtu.be/AQkcgqiO-EE Whether the parts will be recast, the characters will be cut from the movie, or the performers will make a cameo through archive recordings is presently unknown.
