As somebody working in the diplomatic profession, what's your take on the White House kerfuffle yesterday between Trump and Selensky?

I have never seen anything of the sort, during my twenty-two year career (and counting) and I honestly hope to never see something remotely resembling it, as long as I shall breathe on Earth. Same goes for the tons of verbatim transcripts I have always read and analyzed with pleasure, and still do.

There is a reason why negotiations take place behind closed doors. When people are out and talking to the press, stiff upper lips and more or less relaxed smiles are de rigueur. To some, this is hypocrisy. To me, this means at least a modicum of agreement has been reached, for continuing to see each other and talk to each other is still some sort of agreement. There is reassuring elegance in this traditional choreography that is/should be second nature to any professional.

Yesterday, I have watched live on CNN something very closely resembling a Tumblr flame war comment thread. You draw your own conclusions, Anon.

You are welcome. I have answered because I found your question very thoughtfully written, something I always appreciate.

This page always claimed to not deal in politics, something that permeates my life, willy-nilly, every single day. I wanted to have some respite from it at least in here, where I can steer the course totally by myself. Plus I think we already live in a divisive world: why drag it in here, anyways? Look at how people insult each other for the sake of These Two!

That being said, I will always answer with great pleasure questions like the one you sent me, because I find way too many people think of us either as perks-laden parasites or cliquey profiteers. Not saying this does not exist, but let's not put everybody in the same boat. I have met the worst and the best, but the one thing I do know, is that the feeling of serving one's country is perhaps the most gratifying one can experience.

For this, Anon, there's no excuse and no recess. So there you go, if you want to understand a bit more about the way things are done behind closed doors, go ahead and ask. Comments on current events? Not as much as you'd probably like, but you will easily guess my stance - we are simply trained to not lay all our cards on the table, if possible. That would be bad poker, something I have seen yesterday aplenty.

i havent seen anyone mention this yet so i will

i 100% believe ollie and captain price are brothers

especially with what was mentioned in episode 113, and how in episode 97 ollie’s mom said his father and brother are pirates (i dont remember specific wording but i think both were mentioned)

we havent heard any other mention of ollie’s brother, so if its not captain price then this brother will be a mystery until they decide to investigate further but if it is him.

Also grizzly said price looked about 13 years old in that picture, which was definitely sometime before the Hole in the Sea but not sure how far back. The mom was also pregnant in the picture, which could be ollie, who was 12 years old when the Riptide Pirates met him, so he’d be about 2 years old when the Hole in the Sea occurred. So unless we know the specific date when the picture was taken then its plausible to assume ollie could’ve been the next child captian rose had.

I really want to see those 2 meet now, just to see what happens
