Hey, Chance! 💚 Thank you for the aro ask!

1. When did you realize you were arospec?

May of 2022!

I had never heard of the word until I was doing character identity research and it wad late at night when it just suddenly clicked.

15. What are some things you associate with arospec identities?

So most of the things I associate have come straight from Tumblr or other aro blogs, but:

Absolutely anything green, specifically 💚, froggies, dragon scales, SHARKS, and my personal favorite: our mascot the Dino.

16. Do you have any arospec OCs? If so, tell us about them.

There's an argument to be made that literally all of my characters ever are arospec, because I thought I was writing them experiencing what I was experiencing. Which was aromanticism.

Anyway.

I'll hit a few highlight characters:

Gwenevieve Hampshire

My first character to be recognized as aro. (I think. Some of them were close.) Gwen's aroallo, though she does not know it or even know the words. Her aromanticism is definitely there if you know to look for it in The Animatronic Saga, but it's becoming a focal point in my secondary series.

Javon Midori

Javon was actually one of the characters I thought escaped my aro blast. 🤭 He's ace, but I thought his relationship with another character kinda excluded him. Then I realized said relationship is just a really wonderful qpr and my baby is platoniromantic with really strong alterous attraction. He loves her, but who even knows how.

Tomas

My baby with the most labels! I actually have a joke in one of my stories about him just trying to claim the whole rainbow alphabet.

Tomas was my first bi character, but he's also demiromantic. He loves his boyfriend with his whole heart.

Angie Farley

One of my aro girls from my Aro Movie. Angie was the first character I created to be intentionally aro. She's aroflux and in a qpr (not yet in the timeline of my movie, but still) with Ruth. Working through her identity in the movie has been such a cathartic experience.

Ruth Eymmons

My romance-repulsed aro stand-in of a character. I have absolutely adored getting to write stories and scenes featuring someone like me who is also in a beautiful and wonderful relationship with someone who, to the ebst of her abilities, respects her boundaries and loves her just the way she is.

Camille

Literally the first character I ever created for writing, Camille's identity may end up being my favorite to write into existence. Because she's completely aro, but she also had a loving and devoted relationship with a woman and now she doesn't have any of those memories, but the woman in back in her life and she knows she cares? Question mark?

Using my Animatronic Saga cast:

Maybelle - will moan and groan and accept a portion of the work. There will be more slacking on her end, but she also won't allow any other slacking either.

Emerson - tells everyone that he'll do it. He doesn't trust anyone else to handle anything that might affect him or his grades. He'll just do it himself.

Javon - super excited to work with others. Happily splits up the work and discusses a plan to meet up and everything.

Maybelle: wads of paper, including any notes she's been given ever, wire scraps, and probably a whole ass transmission device

Jade: one knife, three or four apples, a half-eaten bag of cereal, two more knives, a pen

Javon: a couple of old rags, a fancy bracelet he does not remember taking, someone else's wallet

Cass: hair ties, a couple extra arrows, wire cutters, a pack of tissues

It's been awhile. Probably a few months ago?

Nope.

A little. Makes things more fun.

5. What's the first thing you notice about people?

How they dress. (And thus their respective wealth.)

6. What's your eye color?

Um, purple, I think.

7. Scary movies or happy endings?

I don't have a lot of access to movies. But happy endings are better; real life is scary enough.

8. Any special talents?

I can pilot most post-10k hovercraft.

9. Where were you born?

Your guess is as good as mine.

10. What are your hobbies?

I like tinkering with things. Usually, it's because the ship's breaking down on us little by little, but it's still pretty fun.

11. Have you any pets?

Nope. Vedo said no the one time I asked.

12. What sports do you play/have played?

Running from the law.

13. How tall are you?

Little over 5', I think. Should have a growth spurt in me here soon.

14. Favorite subject in school?

Did not attend.

I would go to Javon in a literal heartbeat. Whether I needed a hug or just someone to listen or whatever, he'd be there for me.

Several of my characters are not good-- very bad-- at comforting people, but oddly enough I think my last choice would be Gwenevieve. I think it's because she would try to fix whatever was wrong, which is what I don't need immediately when I'm sad.

Okay, maybe it's just because he's grown up a bit of a sticky-fingered smuggler, but Javon in a different universe would be a collector.

Of anything. Of everything. He'd start collecting rocks then realize he likes crystals more; then halfway into an entire boxful fall in love with rings, and now he has three collections of have obscene sizes that he will move on from in about a week.

I can actually see him going to garage sales and buying whatever they have most of. Old photographs? Sure. Stuffed animals? He collects them now.

Yeah, maybe it's for the better this isn't feasible for him in the canon world...

Happy Sts! I'm gonna hit you with a goofy one. Your story genre flips to a western. Who's the lone cowboy/cowgirl with the oneliners, who's getting saved, and who's getting fucked up (drunk or beaten up whichever one you prefer XD).

OH MY GOSH, I LOVE THIS ONE!!!

I also love how easily sci-fi can become a western, because the Animatronic Saga blended so so smoothly.

Maybelle is getting beaten up, probably on the regular. Yeah, she's starting barfights and getting thrown out and all that jazz.

Gwenevieve is the saloon girl, with a couple of weapons holstered under her skirts. Someone would try to nab her. They'd fail.

Edward is the sheriff. He's incredibly tired of having to handle the one-horse town. He and Maybelle have become odd friends with how much he locks her up.

Emerson is the only scholar of the town. He's mostly an annoyance-- quoting science and medicine and shit-- but everyone has a grudging respect for him. He'd be the one to get tied to the railroad tracks.

Jade is the lone cowboy (well, cowgirl, but she'd call herself a cowboy). Just as likely to start a barfight as she is to end one.

Javon is the owner of the saloon. Quick with a drink and a quip, and probably snagging something from your pockets while he's at it.

Hello, darling. Gotta talk about my lovely automatons for this one.

Maybelle loves chocolate chip cookies, especially when she bakes them herself like her parents did.

Javon has a serious sweet tooth. The kid grew up smuggling important things and also all the candy he could get his sticky fingers on.

Cass really likes light desserts, some of the citrus flavors in particular. Scones and poundcake and sorbets.

Okay. So I'm using Animatronic Saga characters, because they're from a very modern but twisted future and I think it'd be funny.

Jade - a whole ass tent. And a portable stove. Maybe an entire camping supply kit even.

Javon - the kid is taking everything he can get his hands on. A scooter. Several iphones. Definitely a pair of those fuzzy dice (they're a gift for Vedo).

Javon Midori's getting kicked out of a Chili's.

But only because Emerson dared him to steal one item from the servers as they passed until he had everything-- apron, notebook, pen, pocketful of straws, receipt book-- and then go pose as a server himself.

He worked as a server for a solid half hour before someone noticed and then chased him around the Chili's, Emerson cackling at the table.
