Jack Frost x Astrid Hofferson

Stuck in an unknown land after falling off her dragon while being ambushed by enemies, Astrid finds herself in the company of a strange... boy. If a boy could fly without a dragon and make snow out of magic.

Astrid tells herself she shouldn’t be close with such a boy and gives him the cold shoulder. However the longer they travel together with her planning to find her way back home, the more the boy’s antics seem to grow in Astrid’s heart. What more when it was revealed one night that he saved her from plummeting to death.

With enemies seeming to have a hold of this land, the two are left with no one else to trust but each other, and must do whatever it takes for Astrid to survive and come home.

there are a bunch that have 2 kudos but they’re like all from my trevordeke hauntober project and it’s not a great feeling to see those all in a chunk so i’m gonna stop here

Are you surprised about any of these lists?

a little surprised that my Brotzly fic got that many kudos, actually, i didn’t realize it was that popular. otherwise not really surprised. sad about so much TrevorDeke hauntober stuff being so low on the kudos count but that’s what i get for writing rarepairs and niche AUs.

i actually looked at this the other day so i have a screenshot on my phone of exactly how many words i published on AO3 in 2020: 97,289! maybe this year i’ll cross 100k.

What’s a favorite fic you published this year?

i’m just gonna slap down nevermore and leave it there

How do you feel like you’ve improved as a writer this year?

less so as a writer and more as a creator in general, i’ve kind of learned to accept that my worth isn’t entirely based on notes. i haven’t fully ascended to that inhuman point of “oh, no notes? no problem” like it still bothers me, because......... anxiety and depression, but i’m getting more comfortable having a niche and not having to push myself to do something more widely accepted just for the attention? idk, i’ve had a few ships this year that have grown with me, and i’ve curated an experience that makes me genuinely happy instead of just chasing likes and approval

What is something new you did writing-wise in the past year? (new fandom, pairing, setting, genre, collab, etc)

i fucking wrote fanfiction again. that’s pretty new considering the last time i wrote was in june of 2019, and it was bad and messy and attention-chase-y, and then i came back and, like i said above, found things to write that made me happy, even if they were silly and nice.

What is something writing-related you would like to try in the future? (check back at the end of the year and see if you did it!)

i want to try to write a series to a conclusion? i have a lot of big AU ideas that i love to expand upon and grow, but i want to find a way to bring something to a natural end instead of milking it for more content when it’s not entirely necessary.
