I’m trying to keep hope alive that GH will do right by Sprina but given how they treat every other interracial couple on that show over the years…my hope is very slim. I still will never get over how they crashed and burned my OG couple keesha & jason!

I hope the writers are aware that the Sprina fanbase will likely come for them if they botch the pairing. They have to know how beloved it is - fans literally had a whole showing out for NAC & TA!! They rented a plane!! Their Zoom/Live events are selling out!! There is gold in the couple, and messing it up will have consequences for them.

Wanna know about my history with soap operas? Well... I know that I’ve shared my love for Dominique Deveraux - TV’s First Black Bitch on the original Dynasty, but that wasn’t the only soap that I watched as a kid and while she was my first, here are a few more Black women in soap operas who I paid attention to (and mostly saw first on soaps).

Senait Ashenafi ♡ Keesha Ward, General Hospital: This is one of my favorite soap girls of all times. She was sweet and pretty, and she was in one of my first ships as a preteen? I don't recall how old I was when I was watching this, but I was obsessed. I would rewatch her scenes with Jason all the time on VHS tapes. I stopped watching some time after they broke up.

Felecia Bell ♡ Simone Hardy, General Hospital: I did not watch General Hospital during the days of earlier Simone casting. But in my soaps heyday, and I mean I set the VCR for my soaps when I wasn't home and watched them when I got home, and Felecia Bell was Simone at that time period. I thought it was interesting to see a character that I was told had a historical landmark for daytime tv.

Renee Elise Goldsberry ♡ Evangeline Williamson, One Life to Live: I had many run ins with OLTL, but the last time I watched it, I had been lured back by one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen in my life! I CRIED when she left the show. I tried to stick around to see what they'd do with her sister, but I quickly lost interest and have not seen the show since.

Rhonda Ross ♡ Toni Burrell, Another World: I wasn't extremely fond of this character, but she had the first Black rape survivor story arc that I can recall seeing and I still remember images of the court trail in my mind today. AND! She was the first Diana Ross child that I knew of. Diana Ross was so important to me in my childhood, her daughter was important by proximity.

Tracey Ross, Brook Kerr, Lena Cardwell ♡ The Russells, Passions: Sometimes... You see a show that is like a decade long fever dream. That show is Passions. Some might have called it a guilty pleasure, but I don't be guilty about my pleasures and Passions was my pleasure. NONSENSE! But very entertaining. I was not around for all them Simones, but Idk the two lightskint ones apart, so idk which one was on by the time I simply fell off this show.

Lynn Hamilton ♡ Cissie Johnson, Dangerous Women: I definitely didn't see her first in Dangerous Women, but her role in that, as Cissie Johnson was a pretty significant part of a short lived serious that I thought was amazing. It was about women who had been in prison, one fakes her death, escapes, Sqand gets plastic surgery, and there's a lot of stuff that revolves around the ex cons. Cissie was kind of a mammy character, in hindsight, but as a kid, she was a nice Black lady on a show full of snakes and liars.

She was also on Generations, a soap opera that I called, "The Black Soap Opera," because there were SO MANY Black people in the cast, and other soaps just did not do that back then.

Sidenote: Generations was the first time that I saw Vivica A. Fox, but I didn't learn her name until Patti Labelle's sitcom Out All Night. Y'all have NO IDEA how much I loved and watched any and every Black show they gave us, even though they never really lasted long. I missed Generations SO MUCH, despite it only being on for a couple of years.

Sharon Leal ♡ Dahlia Crede, Guiding Light: I thought she was the most beautiful woman ever to be on a soap opera. That was basically it. I was only sort of watching Guiding Light, so I barely remember anything about her character, but I collected every photo of her that they put into my mama's soap magazines.

Mari Morrow ♡ Rachel Gannon, One Life to Live: This character also has been recast several times, but during my consumption, it was Mari Morrow, when Rachel was in her addiction storyline.

Enuka Okuma ♡ Kelly, Fifteen: It took me a ridiculous amount of time to remember that Enuka had been Kelly on Fifteen!! I was excited to realize that, even though still to this day, nobody I speak with ever remembers this show. A Nickolodeon teen drama? Excellent, I loved it. Nick was so good in my day.

I included Arseman, even though I have not seen her since. But, she was rep too, so. There she is.

Sherri Saum ♡ Vanessa Hart, Sunset Beach: Now... this one is a little different, because I don't remember actually LIKING this character, but she's pretty and whenever I'd see people reblog that Fosters show, I'd always envision my older sister imitating her soap character's boyfriend saying her name (Because my sister hated his acting and imitated him funnily to me) First time I saw this lady and that man, but he later wound up in Shondaland.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST

Garcelle Beauvais ♡ Cynthia Nicols, Models Inc.: This show was a primetime soap. A spin off of Melrose Place. (Melrose Place being a spin off of Beverly Hills 90210), and Garcelle Beauvais gabe me EVERYTHING an angsty child needed inher soaps. This character went through SO MUCH and was SO important to me! She was bulimic. She had an obsessive ex who stalked her. Who KIDNAPPED her and assaulted her in front of her tied up new boyfriend. He had been sending her Black Barbie dolls bound and blindfolded, and when she got down with her new man, he yoinked her. She wound up having to kill him and I supported every moment of her in that one season of a show it feels like only me, my mama and my older sister watched.

Yea Nik was sooooo down bad for Gia. I watched their love story recently on YouTube after I saw people bring them up and I would have never known he had a whole fiancé before Emily.

They also did this mess with Keesha and Jason. I loved them and then they ruined it with his memory loss. I felt so bad for Keesha since Jason treated her like shit afterwards and moved onto Robin. Then they gave her AJ as a consolation prize.

I think that’s why some people are so cynical when it comes to Sprina, because for a minute there it did seem like they are about to let them fade out like previous IR/bwwm couples on the show with how long it was taking.

I should definitely sit down and watch the Nik/Gia story one of these days but I'm not surprised to hear that Nik was down bad for her. Nik always loves hard and even if he isn't that in love with the woman, he'll do his damndest to convince himself he is. It sounds like they erased Nik/Gia's impact as it didn't fit with the Nik/Emily story they were trying to tell. As someone who was a Nik/Emily diehard as a kid, that kinda sucks and definitely makes me view things more critically.

I've only ever heard about the Keesha and Jason fiasco and I have no interest in watching it. It sounds horrible and I can't imagine how awful that was for black viewers to watch in real time.

In a weird way because the era of GH I watched was so white, I just didn't really view the show through the lens of representation. I expected nothing like that from it. This is why Trina is such a pleasant surprise to me. But I totally get why people were cynical about the slowburn of Trina and Spencer.

There were definitely moments where it felt more like stalling than deliberate storytelling. And I continue to resent Esme's presence in their story to this day for that reason.

Magic School Bus + Riordanverse AU

I don’t know if I’m the first to think of this, but here’s my idea for a crossover.

During the school year, the class goes on field trips. During the summer, they go on quests and hang out at Camp Half-Blood.

Each kid’s godly parent:

Phoebe: daughter of Demeter. (I chose this because Phoebe loves plants and nature.)

Dorothy Ann: daughter of Urania, the muse of astronomy. I know what some of you might be thinking: “why not put D.A. in the Athena cabin? She walked so Annabeth could run!” Yes, I do see the similarity, but…

Carlos and Mikey are the Athena kids in my AU. As far as personality goes, Carlos is very clever and creative, and likes to take charge of the situation— all of which are Athena traits to me. But what REALLY sealed it for me was the fact that Carlos is scared of spiders.

As for Mikey, he’s good at engineering and he’s super smart (just like his brother.) Since he and Carlos aren’t twins, I imagine that their situation is like the Stoll brothers from the Hermes cabin.

Speaking of which… I think Wanda would be a good fit for the Hermes cabin, given her sense of adventure and her daredevilish personality. I even think the snakes would be a good fit for her.

Tim: Son of Hephaestus. Why? He loves making things.

Keesha: daughter of Athena. Which makes Carlos, Mikey, and Annabeth her half-siblings. I originally wanted to put everyone in a different cabin, but I had trouble thinking of one for Keesha and I decided: “well, she is a very logical person so I will put her in the most logical cabin.”

Ralphie: son of Apollo. His mom is a doctor, so it kind of makes sense.

Arnold: Son of Clio, the muse of history.

I have no idea if Ms. Frizzle herself is a demigod, a minor goddess, or something else entirely. Nobody knows.

Notes:

They are friends with the PJO/HoO crew.

Mikey might not be in the Hephaestus cabin, but he might as well be an honorary member of the crew. Leo even made him a special, tricked-out wheelchair.

Capture the flag is … interesting. If Carlos and D.A. are on the same team, then they work together really well. If they’re on opposite teams, you will not see two campers more competitive than them.

The MSB crew is about the same age as Piper, Jason, and Leo in the HoO series.

Tim and Carlos have been campers for the longest out of everyone in the class. Meanwhile, Phoebe is the newest camper.

Phoebe sometimes mentions “her old school” when something strange happens at camp.

Arnold often wishes he’d stayed in his cabin.

For several years, D.A., Arnold, and Wanda were all in the Hermes cabin, since there weren’t cabins for minor gods until after Percy Jackson demanded it be so.

D.A. was the last one of the crew to be claimed by her godly parent.

Before learning about the “the big 3 can’t have kids” rule, Ralphie hoped he was a son of Zeus.

Horror Movie Review: Titanic Rises (2022)

It’s something of surprise to see that Titanic Rises is not a terrible movie by any stretch. It’s got a solid story, decent acting, some passable effects, and ghostly shenanigans.

Directed by Nick Lyon, written by Jacob Cooney and Jason White, and starring Keesha Sharp, Jamie Bamber, AnnaLynne McCord, Derek Yates, and Lydia Hearst. Titanic Rises also goes under the name of Titanic 666, two titles that should send a shiver down most horror fan’s spine. Titanic 666 - What We Know So Far (UPDATED: 2nd April 2022)

One of Jamie's projects that he filmed last year finally has more information that we can bring you.

Titanic 666 which he filmed in Los Angeles last year has announced it's cast, some of the characters and given an official synopsis.

The Cast

Jamie will be playing Professor Hal Cochran, a passenger on the ship and an artifact collector of the original Titanic. Starring alongside him will be AnnaLynne McCord as Mia Stone, a social media influencer and passenger who is travelling with her husband. Keesha Sharp stars as Captain Celeste Rhoades, Captain of the ship (called Titanic III) and Lydia Hearst who will be playing Idina, a stowaway seeking to avenge the exploitation of the original Titanic victims. Also joining them are Joseph Gatt, Derek Yates, Michael J Chen, Jhey Castles, Kendall Chappell and Giovannie Espiritu.

The Plot

The official synopsis of the film on released by Deadline reads:

One hundred and ten years after its namesake’s fateful journey, the Titanic III’s maiden voyage will land at the original site of the wreck. Although a faithful replica of the original, this mammoth cruise ship is built with the most advanced technology, ensuring that it has no chance of sinking. But when the Titanic III arrives at the tragic site, strange events begin to occur, as dark forces from the deep rise to the surface, terrorizing all aboard and threatening to repeat one of history’s greatest disasters.

The film is directed by Nick Lyon and written by Jacob Cooney and Jason White. It is produced by The Asylum for Tubi. David Rimawi executive produces. David Michael Latt produces. Paul Bales serves as co-producer for  The Asylum.

Oooh! Well. This is taking me back, because I truly was a more romance interested kid than I am as an adult, and maybe when I was a young adult too. So! Hopefully, it won't all be too old. And I have a terrible memory when it comes to good feelings. So, it's more like, "My top 5 favorites that my brain can pull up right now as favorites"

Ian and Deb, from this book series, Class Secrets, I read in 9th grade and never got the next book for (like, I think the lady didn't write more, and it tortured me for like 2 years. I kept going back to the library to see, since there wasn't any internet to search for answers and eventually when there was, never found a continuation)

Them. They made me share fanfiction with strangers. I didn't post my writing before Star Trek gave me a ship that I had wanted since I was a little girl watching TOS.

This is SUPER hard. I know I have been invested in some romances, but thinking of 5 favorites is quite complicated. Lol. Stupidly, but wholeheartedly, Paula Adbul and Keanu Reeves in her Rush Rush music video.

It would be so easy to say a ship from something that I put a lot of time and energy into, but I really don't think about them that much anymore, so it makes me wonder, are they favorites or did I simply give them a lot? Then there are things I loved but they didn't get the chance to become great.

Lets say for the last one.. Quinn and Gary. I still care about them.

I need a fanfic where Jason & Drew were raised together by the Quartermaines.  Everything still happens with Jason (car accident & brain damage, Carly & Sonny, Sam).  Drew competes with AJ and Ned for ELQ.  I’m not sure who would be with Drew, though - Karen Wexler, Keesha Ward, Courtney, Elizabeth, or someone else.  Not Robin, though - she still belongs with Patrick.  I also need Alan, Emily, and AJ to still be alive.
