BB12. I was like 6 years old and my parents were watching it. Something I would do a lot when I was little and wanted to trick my parents into letting me stay up past my bedtime was to feign interest in what they watched on TV and pretend to be super into what was on until my parents realized it was getting late. In the case of Big Brother and Survivor, fake interest grew into genuine interest, and if I didn't see Kathy getting stuck in a caramel pit at the first have-not competition that season, I think I would have had a chance at developing a healthier brain (seriously, how did they think letting me watch every episode of Big Brother after that night would have ended up? CPS should have taken my mom away once I could recall the drama between all the real housewives better than what went down on the elementary school playground because a reality TV obsessed mom produced a reality TV obsessed daughter)
I’m about to show my whole ass by saying this but bb15 was my first season. When did y’all start watching?

Good morning tag!!! Happy premiere day! If y'all forgot, my name is Athena, I'm now presently 21 years old, my first ever season was bb12 and first season in bbTumblr was bb21 (and first season not being a casual wow), and I'm probably the tag's token loud and open moderately autistic bisexual Georgian.
With that being said, if I go from typing like I'm using an AI to to using the longest and most unhinged string of words to insult something or communicate surprise or shock or other strong feelings, that's the explanation. (In not using AI btw, that's my tism but I've been being accused of it on other platforms lately). I just wanted to have this disclaimer out the way now because I've just noticed an increase in both my "southern speak" making it's way into text and more and more interrogations about the way I type being suspicious linking back to awkward autistic habits I guess?
Also, I typically use owls as my reaction pics/images/gifs so that's still a go this year and I have added a few more to my arsenal as well! Please please please don't hesitate to flood my ask box and include me in on any little micro trends this year especially if I stay active like I plan to and if you want to be friends or mutuals please do because my heart never has too little room for bb besties! Now does anyone know if we're doing a selfiegate this premiere? I won't be stuck at a lake this time at least!

I’ve loved Big Brother this year. But with a week to go, it seems extremely likely it’ll have a bad winner.
We’ve just lost two brilliant housemates, Lily and Khaled. The former an incredibly entertaining housemate who provided countless moments of pure television. The latter a wonderful person - kind and playful, and a passionate advocate for his home country of Lebanon and for other Palestinian Muslims like himself.
Having watched this show since its first year, I’ve rage-quit the show two or three times because of bad winners, then returned to the show after taking some time off. I don’t want to rage-quit this year. I really like the ITV incarnation of this show. So, in anticipation of a bad winner, I’m trying to manage my relationship to the Big Brothe finale.
Each year, the show encourages you to pick your heroes and villains. So each series will be won by a hero, a villain, or a boring option.
(You can skip this paragraph! For me, heroes won BB2, BB4, BB5, BB12, BB13, BB20, Celebrity BB1 and CBB11. Villains of mine won BB6, BB8 and BB15 as well as CBB13. Boring winners won BB1, BB3, BB7 and BB10. I remember too little of BB14, CBB10 and CBB12 - but Julian Clarey and Charlotte Crosby are amazing, so I assume I must have been thrilled by the latter two.)
Naturally, it’s best when a hero wins. A boring winner is an anticlimax. But a villain winner is an existential threat. It can feel like there was no point in watching the show. Like a horror movie where everyone dies in the end, there’s a risk of thinking there’s no value in the story at all.
After Jim Davidson won Celebrity Big Brother in 2014, I stopped watching the show entirely. It’s only when ITV took the show from Channel 5 that I watched a new launch night - which convinced me to keep watching.
The victory of racist sexist homophobe Jim Davidson broke my heart. That the general public would see value in this man. Two year later, we’d get Brexit and Trump, so I lost my love for a TV show that’s all about letting the public determine who’s worthy.
And now, it’s 2024, the UK’s far-right Reform party have 6 MPs, Trump is back again, and Big Brother’s finalists include two housemates who’ve supported Nigel Farage, as well as two different housemates who wanted Donald Trump to win the US election.
So here’s how I see it.
Time and time again, the public have proved they will vote for fascists, racists, sexists. At the polling booth and for reality TV.
Winning Big Brother means you won over the same public who voted for Boris Johnson.
So I choose not to allow the winner to colour my relationship with this show. Whoever wins, MY main character has been Ali - a compassionate, judgemental, queer, neurodivergent problematic angel who’s made me feel the most represented in the 22 seasons I’ve seen of this show.
If she loses to racist Tory Nathan, former butler to the King of Fucking England - so be it. Let the story be a tragedy. It’s the story of our age.
But my relationship with the show is my business. And my winner is Ali.
Joint first with Lily and Khaled.

Maggie said Tucker reminds her of a past houseguest we have seen play twice before who she said played “much, much better the second time”
Much to my complete shock, she was talking about ENZO
Girl…I don’t even have words for that one 👀

It's even more funny that the guy she was in a crashout contest with was from Georgia and recounting this saga to my mother (a loyal 90 day fiance watcher and unhinged country bumpkin living in Georgia currently who absolutely hates Angela Deem and resents the fact that she has to share a state with her and don't even get her started on Mama June and that family living in this state too) has tempted her to pick Big Brother back up after not watching it since bb21 burnt her out too much.
@fill-me-with-your-memes-daddy maybe you were onto something…
#bb26#she's like the most leftist rednec you'll ever meet#bb21 was just her screaming at the screen to stop making us look bad at every racist controversy#and after she lived through bb15 aaryn and blocked it out she wasn't doing this anymore#she got me into this show at 6 years old during bb12 now i watch it by myself at 21 lmaoooo#just go ahead and damage your kid's brain chemistry for life then leave her to only be able to discuss it with people on Tumblr wowwwww

sorry gang i'm on a writing roll so here is
Ash's Thoughts About Every Winner + A Bonus
Wife, this is your warning. Do not look under the cut. You will be spoiled for literally the entire series.
Also I do briefly mention self-harm towards the end so if that is a trigger for you, I would recommend either scrolling or not reading the massive paragraph at the end.
Dr. Will (BB2) - There's a reason he's an iconic winner. He's a bit of an asshole but he's a lovable asshole, much like my dad.
Lisa (BB3) - Now, do I think a bitter jury contributed to this win? Yes. Is this win still deserved? Yes. She was a strong player in her own right and I'm still happy she won.
Jun (BB4) - One of my favorite winners. Basically invented the floater strategy that other houseguests try and fail to replicate to this day.
Drew (BB5) - Honestly, I have not dived very far into this mid-stage of the old seasons but I guess he's okay.
Maggie (BB6) - Not a big fan of her, tbh.
Mike Boogie (BB7) - There's a lot of shit that happened outside of the game that sours my opinion of him.
Evil Dick (BB8) - Ok, listen. He's a character I can say that much. But, there was a lot of production protection around his win. I don't think he would've gotten as far without America's Player.
Adam (BB9) - I haven't watched BB9, and I probably won't.
Dan (BB10) - What can I say about Dan that hasn't already been said? He is a BB legend and probably the best winner.
Jordan (BB11) - Yeahhhh, no.
Hayden (BB12) - I have conflicting thoughts about Hayden. Is he kinda responsible for Derrick? Yes. Is he entertaining to watch? Yes.
Rachel (BB13) - Ok I gotta admit, I'm not the biggest fan of her in 13, love her in 12 though.
Ian (BB14) - Ian is my favorite, if you have anything negative to say about him fuckin leave.
Andy (BB15) - I refuse to watch BB15.
Derrick (BB16) - See my future "Derrick Levasseur Ruined Big Brother & I Don't Respect Him As A Person" longpost.
Steve (BB17) - I am extremely biased towards Steve. BB17 was the first season I watched and the first to make me fall in love with Big Brother. If you asked my dad, he would say Vanessa was robbed. And I kind of agree, but also don't. We didn't have good enough internet for the feeds at the time so there's a lot of shit we missed.
Nicole (BB18) - I hate Nicole Franzel. I am tired of seeing and hearing her and I do not care if she lives or dies.
Josh (BB19) - 19 was a garbage dump as a season which makes it only fair to get a garbage dump of a winner. Only Kevin winning would satisfy me because he was the only bright spot in this hellhole of a season.
Kaycee (BB20) - Honestly, I don't give a rat's ass about this season. I was on Discord most of the summer so I didn't get to connect with a lot of the players.
Jackson (BB21) - Why do we award racists? I only watched the first half of the season because I was so angry.
Cody (BB22) - The only good thing he did was evict Nicole. This season made me stop watching until midway through BB24 because all of the Pre-Derrick players were evicted for trying to, yknow, play the fucking game how it was meant to be played. So tired of white boys.
Xander (BB23) - I have not gone back & watched BB23 in its entirety due to certain events in my life happening at that time because I fear it may trigger me and ruin my excitement for Big Brother.
Taylor (BB24) - It's what she deserves. She is 2 in my top 3 favorite winners, those being Ian, Taylor, and Lisa.
Jag (BB25) - I don't think you should win if you were evicted, but that's my opinion.
And finally, our bonus player:
Paul (BB18 & 19) - I have incredibly mixed feelings on Paul. When they played in 18, I thought they were the greatest person on Earth. They were cool and funny and had awesome style. And to an autistic middle schooler who couldn't keep up with the changing tides of the social hierarchy, they meant a lot to me because we were already very similar. So I mirrored them. I mirrored them HARD. They were everything I wanted to be as a person. Instead of being the kid who got bullied all the time, I could be cool. To this day, Paul is a really special houseguest to me because they provided an escape from the newly developing self-hatred and urge to harm myself. I'm older and healthier now, so I don't value my worth against people but they were a bright spot in a dark time in my life.
Then BB19 came along. And I felt betrayed.
Why was the person I looked up to suddenly acting like the very thing I was escaping from? It genuinely hurt a lot. And because of those feelings that still linger today, I still feel like that 12 year old "girl" who didn't know what was wrong with them whenever I see clips of Paul on BB19.
Thank you for your time. See yall on Thursday.
