things in DC canon iâll literally never get over
1. dick finds out batman replaced him as robin (without asking him) from the NEWSPAPER and simultaneously finds out bruce adopted a new kid without telling him (to make things worse: bruce didnât even adopt dick)
2. dick finds out jason died from the newspaper (AGAIN? REALLY BRUCE?) and bruce had the fucking funeral WITHOUT HIM while he was still in space
#iâm only like 80% sure these are fully canon btw#correct me if i'm wrong#dc comics#bruce wayne#dick grayson#jason todd#robin!jason#batman#batman comics#nightwing#batman and robin#ok yes ik thereâs a reason bruce didnât adopt dick#aka he didnât want to replace dickâs father#but imagine being a teenager and your foster dad adopts a kid without even telling you#and then giving him YOUR name without asking#like no one would feel great about that#i will never forgive bruce for not telling dick jason died / having the funeral without him#though i do love some yummy angst#where hood!jason yells at dick for not even being at the funeral#and dicks like âi was still in fucking space!â#like yes bruce was grieving but BRO thats ur other son come on

I see all the Titans didn't know about the Batman being Batdad AUs, but what if they knew and thought that the Robins were biologically his?
Wally: Dude, why is your last name Grayson and not Wayne?
Dick: Because Bruce isn't my dad?
Wally: Really?!
Dick: You've known me since we were kids!
Wally: I thought it was just a rebellious thing and that he's your biological dad, what with the hair and the eyes and your siblings.
Dick: They're (mostly) not his either. In the biological sense.
Wally: *shock*
#headcanon#dick: he's not my dad!#every other titan/JL member: ah teenage rebellion#jason comes along and everybody is commenting on how much the family looks alike#even when tim comes along people are still nodding going on about good genes#cass comes along and they still think she's Bruce's biological daughter#thus they don't get why damian claims to be the blood son#UNLESS they believe that the waynes are now all adopted#even the one who actually uses the Wayne surname#plot ideas#dick grayson#robin#nightwing#batman#bat family#strong family resemblance#and they're all mostly adopted

jason todd adopting kids stories are some of my least favourite things ever because. unless you're setting this 15 years in the future after he's dealt with himself. why would the solution to "kid who was too used to taking care of others to even understand that he was a kid who should be taken care of becomes teen/young adult who throws himself dangerously into chasing past relationships (bruce, dick) that don't work out because he doesn't have himself figured out at all" be to give him kids to take care of and more reason to ignore himself as an individual outside of the relationships he clings to.
#adopted kid helping the parent grown doesnt work when the parent hasnt even worked thru the formative teenage period of#establishing oneself as a human (not just vigilante!) outside of one's parent. not in jason's case at least bc look at him. he doesnt even#have friends. hes still (essentially. implicitly) begging for his dad and brother to acknowledge him as a human and it keeps#failing bc rn he's just a mess and never thought far or seriously enough about living beyond a repeat performance of his death to form an#identity. at all. what does giving him a kid do here? except repeat the cycle of jason caring for someone else as a way to vicariously care#for himself WHILE NOT caring for himself. okay whatever

The Batman fandom infantilizing a near 30 years old white man taking in a child, saying he was a brother more than a father as if he wasn't a full grown adult taking in a child he could have birthed, but parentifying a brown young adult taking in his brother pre-teen for less than a year, saying he was a father more than a brother (only a year is barely enough but ok), or saying he was more a father to his other brothers than Bruce, when he met them when he was 18 and 21 is making me uncomfortable, ngl.
Like, Bruce is a "kid" when he became Dick's guardian when he canonically was over 25 (he started being Batman at 25), and a brother to him when he raised him for 10 years (and Dick probably has not many memories from before Bruce now), but Dick is a "father" to Damian he only had as his charge for less than a year, half of which they were fighting each others??? Make it make sense???
#dc comics#batman#nightwing#bruce wayne#dick grayson#my ramblings#Bruce was 25 when he became Batman so at least 26 when he got 8 years old Dick#He was old enough to be a father and not a child stop calling him a kid he was closer to 30 than 20#But Dick is younger and Damian is like 10-11 and only in his care for a year#but that's more a father/son relationship than Dick's yearly years with Bruce? pls#stop parentifying Dick all the time and making him raise his siblings when he is a young adult who did so many immature thing#let him be his age and grow up normally#something something the stereotypes are showing guys#there are so many fics on AO3 with people writing Dick as Jason father figure#HE WAS 18 AND IN FULL TEENAGER ANGST MODE#I do not care that comics say that Dick and Damian had a father/son bond it doesnât make sense#However there are a ton of comics of Dick being like âYou are my dad! You're my dad! boogie woogie woogieâ to Bruce#also the letter he wrote to Bruce in Nightwing First Year where he is like âI'm not ready to see you rn because I'm mad at you#but also you're the best father I ever could ask for.â even mad and lost he still viewed Bruce as his dad whatever the man said

the only thing abt red hood the hill is that jason just seems so put together and settled. idk i just need him in a little bit more torment but dont get me wrong i dont think he shld be GUILTY cus hes got nothing to be guilty for but i think he shld be a little bit more reactive street dog in a no kill shelter trying to fit in with the doodles
#also im a little lost on the plot but that might be bc i never read the 0 issue and i get a little distracted by the colors on the page#jason todd#love his red hood outfit and i do love him acting as the kinda mentor?? ish figure to the other little vigilantes#i always love jason interacting w community but i do think he needs to be a little bit more well how shld i put this#crazy#like he missed a vital part of his formative older teenage transition to adulthood yrs#and spent them devising how to kill his dad with bombs

Jason is a Teenage Dad
Woke up to see my phone open to my notes app and all it says on it is:
Jason is a Teenage Dad
- Jason is 15 and fucking dies.
- Clockwork shenanigans
- Jason drags his body out of the Lazarus
- Meets the eyes of a 3 year old Danny playing with the Jokerâs decapitated head.
- Jason takes the child home. It is his now.
So, obviously, I gotta write about it. Enjoy this post based on the vision of delirious 4 am me.
âŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠ.
Clockwork was bored. You would think the ability to see everything everywhere all at once would be overwhelming but itâs actually boring. Thereâs no suspense when you always know whatâs going to happen. But that was all part of his job as the Ancient of time.
Every universe was scripted out. Each one was slightly different from the last, but it still had the same major things in there. For instance, there was always a Gotham in every universe. Sometimes the city itself, sometimes a comic book about the place as if it were fictional. The same with Amity Park except that one universe made it an anime instead of a kids show which wasâŠ. A choice.
Most of the time Clockwork just had to make sure that catalyst events happened no matter what the timeline. Like the adoption of Jason Todd. Or the death of Danny Fenton. The meteor that killed the dinosaurs. Stuff like that. Universes that didnât have enough catalyst events like that tended to implode on themselves if some new event didnât take its place.
Clockwork was looking at a universe at the moment that was definitely close to being expired. Could he let it happen? Sure. He could. But that wouldnât have been much fun to watch.
In the universe he was looking at currently, Danny Fenton has all but disappeared at least according to the locals of Amity Park. Which wasnât that bad. Easily fixable. However the much larger problem was that Jason Todd just died the wrong way. In most universes where his death took place, it always happened that same way as it was a catalyst event for that universe. Jason gets beat up by the joker and then dies in an explosion. Then he gets revived and healed by some assassins in a pit of really fucked up ecto. Standard procedure.
However in the universe Clockwork was looking at, Jason died due to the crowbar. There was no bomb. Infact, Batman didnât even arrive to the scene until much later than he did in every other universe. The strangest part though, was that after killing Jason Todd, the Joker threw him into the Lazarus himself. There was no downtime or buffer. This kid was going to be alive again by the end of the week and unless Clockwork did some timeline adjustments, it was enough that the entire universe was inevitably going to fall apart.
Obviously fixing it wouldnât be hard to do. If he did it the easy way. To rewrite Jasonâs death. But that was kind of boring. So, Clockwork had a better idea.
âŠ
Jason gasped suddenly and he felt liquid enter his lungs. He opened his eyes to see green. All around him. Shit, if he inhaled anymore liquid he could drown. So he started to try to swim towards what he thought was the surface. His body felt odd and disconnected from his brain making it hard to move but he kept going. He had to keep going. He didnât want to die.
Finally, he felt his hand break the surface and latch onto a ledge. He pulled himself out of the green glowing Lazarus, trying to cough up as much liquid as possible.
Memories started to flood back to him. The fight. His mom. The Joker. The fucking crowbar. And most notably, no Batman. Batman never came. He was going to kill B for that.
Jason took a few deep breaths and let himself look around. His eyes immediately locked onto a child. Looked to be about 3. Pale with black hair and blue eyes. The boy was sitting with his legs crossed, covered in blood. He was playing with⊠something?
Jason couldnât help but worry for the kid, hoping he did t fall into the pit. It was a dangerous place to be especially alone. Jason sat up to get a better look.
The moment he did, he saw the toddlerâs eyes dart right into his own, the blue overpowered by a sudden glow of green. Lazarus green. A look of fear ran over the boyâs face as he froze in place.
Jason felt something in his chest churn, almost as if he could feel the fear dripping off of the child. He didnât want to scare him. He didnât want to hurt him. He wanted to get them both somewhere a bit more safe.
Jason stared at the boy, trying to not look menacing. He wanted him to know he could trust him. He felt whatever that new something inside his chest was also try to reach out. Jason didnât notice when his own eyes turned green, but he did notice that the boyâs attitude shifted very quickly.
The toddlerâs eyes went back to blue as the look of fear mostly washed out of his face. There was still some apprehension but it seemed that the two of them had silently come to an agreement of sorts that they were not enemies at least.
Jason looked down from the boyâs eyes and into his hands and whatever animosity Jason had within him was completely washed away. This kid had been through something horrific. In the toddlerâs small arms was the decapitated and now decaying head of the Joker. Jasonâs murderer.
Jason suddenly felt like this child in front of him was more important than anything else. Whatever he had gone through to land him in this place with that head was fucking over. Jason was going to protect this kid until the day he fucking died. Again. This child had gone through unimaginable things and Jason inherently knew that even though he knew nothing about this kidâs story, he was was going to be one of the very few who could really understand what he was going through.
âWhat is your name?â he asked as softly as he could.
The boy quietly responded in almost a whisper, âDanny.â
This kid was his kid now. To hell with wherever he came from. Jason was now a dad.
âŠ
Bruce was distraught. Devastated. Completely inconsolable. Jason, his son, was dead. The Joker had confirmed it with a video of him laughing over the dead body. That was a week ago now. Bruce didnât know what to do. He failed Jason. He wasnât there when he should have. He couldnât save him.
He had gotten delayed when he found out where Jason had gone and tried to go after him when a kid heâd seen at a few galas before, Tim was dropped out of the sky landing right on top of him with a post it note safety pinned to his back. He ignored it at the time as he was a little preoccupied.
After he got up again after the initial shock and realized it was just a kid, he tried to calm the nerves of young Tim who described watching his die and then being teleported into the sky and dropped. There was a chance that if Batmanâs body hadnât cushioned the fall, he would have been seriously injured.
He knew he couldnât leave the young kid there by himself. And he knew that he had to find Jason. He didnât want to bring him along either but the boy insisted that he wanted to come. Was it smart? No. Did he end up bringing Tim with him? Well yes. He was running out of time after all.
But Batman didnât make it. The place was empty except for the dead body of Jasonâs mother and a lot more blood that was undoubtedly his sonâs.
Bruce was currently lying in his bed. He hadnât gone out to do anything except for patrols. It was the only thing he could focus on. It was the the only thing he could bring himself to do. Bruce Wayne had the time to grieve for Jason Todd. Batman on the other hand did not have that. He had to remain vigilant and consistent. More importantly he had to find the Joker and send him away for killing Jason. Which would have been a lot easier if he hadnât completely disappeared.
Bruce stared at the nightstand. It had the post it note that Tim had on his back when he fell. He had read it hundreds of times. But he didnât want to believe it. It was just more proof that Jason was dead.
He took the post it note from the nightstand and read it again, hoping it was different. It was not.
Take this kid home. Heâs Robin now :)
âŠ
Tim didnât really know what to do. His plans had come to fruition much faster than he had anticipated. After watching g his parents die, he had sworn to himself that he would find Bruce Wayne, the Batman, and convince him to let him help fight the evil of the city. But he didnât expect that the moment he made that decision he would he plucked off his feet by unseen hands and then suddenly dropped from the sky.
That was over a week ago. Now, he was sitting on a large sofa in Wayne Manor. He was thinking. All he really had time to do was think. He had seen his first crime scene at Batmanâs side and afterwards was brought back to the manor. He was left alone. He hadnât seen Bruce hardly at all.
He wanted to do more. Go out and help with something. Anything. But Alfred wouldnât let him go anywhere. So all he could do was think.
Did anything that had happened since his parent died make any sense? No. Joker deviated from his MO. But why? It was so different than anyone would have expected. There was no spectacle or epic battle with the Batman. He was just gone with a dead body behind. Nothing else.
And that was AFTER Tim was teleported into the middle of the sky. If he just had more resources, maybe a computer or some books that he could dive into to, he could figure it out. There had to be SOME reason. Right? But he had already checked the books in the manor library and Alfred wouldnât let him into the poorly hidden Batcave. He only had his own thoughts.
He would grieve his parents with that time but he could also just as easily do that later. Besides, he had already decided he was going to become a vigilante and help the Batman. And most importantly, there was a puzzle in front of him that he wanted to solve more.
âŠ
Jason knocked on the door the manor. He was nervous to see B again. Since according to newspapers he had been gone for a week. He knew his dad was gonna be mad that he went to see his mom. And mad he was gone so long. Jason knew he was going to get chewed out for it but he just wanted to be home. Especially since he was going to need help raising Danny. He didnât know how adoption worked and Jason was only 15 but he was sure B knew how to do all that.
Danny was currently in his arms. He was so small compared to Jason now. Before he had died, he was wasnât nearly this big. Jason had muscle sure but he was still relatively lean. Now, Jason was built more like a brick house. His shoulders were wider than a typical doorway and he was much taller, at least 6â4.
Danny was sleeping at the moment. He still had the Jokers head in his arms. He hadnât been able to convince the kid to let it go. Which was fine. Jason didnât really know what to do with it anyways.
Some shuffling was heard and then the door opened. Alfred was staring back at him.
âHey sorry I was gone,â Jason said, not really sure what else to say.
Alfred looked from Jason to Danny to Jason, double take on Danny. His face was hard to read. Jason was kind of nervous.
Alfred stepped out of the doorway. Behind him was B.
âJason!?â
âYeah. Hi.â

Of course they r different genres of story centered around very different characters and relationships and situations etc but i think also that just makes it funnier
#also i think what makes tws more effective (aside from there just being like. more intentional effort put into setting it up. like from#the first issue of cap vol. 5 its very clear that the point of it is to build up the circumstances necessary to reintroduce this character#into the narrative and then eventually push him center stage.)#is that its wayyyyyyyy less of a leap in logic for Bucky's character than it was for Jason. bc i mean. ofc there was the propaganda after#the fact trying to retcon jason into the angry and reckless robin. but even taking that into account#almost everything abt the red hood is an inversion of what jason was. and that is intentional and part of the drama of the story. but it#also takesmore effort to reconcile which is why we still have to make 3000000 posts analyzing and theorizing his character#Meanwhile for Bucky its like#he wasdoing winter soldier shit as a teenager during the war#died#continued obviously doing winter soldier shit as the winter soldier#got his memories back + shit#and then ran off to continue doingwinter soldier shit of his own volition against the appropriate targets#Like the conflict comes from thefact that he had no free will and thus was forced to kill indiscriminately according to his mission.#he doesnt seem to actually have much of a problem with anything he was made to do in a vacuum. which is why he keeps doing it#(im sure there was some uniquely vile shit at some pt i just havent read anything where he talks abt it yet LMAO)#and then he becomes captain america with a gun#and now as far as im aware. continues to be winter soldier. hes been doing this shit since hewas like 16 like 90 fucking years ago what els#is he supposed to do. And during all of this his personality remains roughly the same.#whereas Jason still being red hood in the very stagnant way that he has been for most of his career with no writer able to settleon what#his individual issues and problems (and fucking motivations) should be. is just goofy at this point. there was a sharp character split#established by his comeback followed by prolonged and insane deterioration of concept#also steve is not his fucking dad. steve is barely part of the equation. i mean its still gradually revealed to torment him like jason#tormented bruce but bucky had nothing to do with that nor does he have any qualms abt anything steve did#before or after he died Lmfao#ALSO just the in universe explanation for why the character is alive and were the fuck they have been is like 100% more grounded#and intelligible for bucky than jason opdif8ysg8ehspogp it actually makes me cry#UHHHHH superboy primePUNCHED THE TIMELINE so jason woke up and then clawed himself out of his coffin and then walkd around until he got hit#by a car ad ten eh wasin a coma and then the al ghulskjsfksd mjfisoeio9u0se09430[5-43[64] ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#judd winnick fighting for his life to explain that shit for no reason

I stand by the fact that Jason Todd is incredibly with small children, but canât stand teenagers. He understands that they are kids and itâs not their fault they are awful, but he just canât stand them. Dick Grayson, on the other hand, is amazing with older kids and teens but if u hand him a toddler heâll have a small breakdown. He doesnât get them, and he does things like allow them to watch horror movies at the age of 2 cus he forgets how little they are.

AU where Jason's trauma around his Lazarus Pit's dip and his protective instinct as a sibling are stronger than his pride, so he snitches to Bruce about Damian and the tournament to the death Dick is letting him do.
Bruce: You are both grounded.
Dick: I'm an adult, B, you can't ground me!
Bruce: You encourage your brother in a death's tournament, try me.
Tim: I can't believe Jason is the responsible one.
Jason: Why are you surprised? Contrary to this clown, I know how it is to get a bath in the magic green goop, and it's not pleasant. Zero stars, would not recomand, and don't want any of you to go throught.

Bruce, sighing dreamily: I miss times when little Jason wanted to be like me. He was so cute.
Dick, frowning: Man, be fr, you were his dad, yes, but not the role model. Me, from the other side? Yep, yep.
Bruce, murmuring under his breath: I find it hard to believe that any teenager would want to be more like a guy who wore the Discowing suit.
Dick, gasping: What did you say?!
Jason, sitting between them on the coach: It was Alfred.
Bruce and Dick: What.
Jason: I said, my role model was Alfred.
Bruce: But-
Jason: He taught me how to shoot. And gave me his recipe book. And I was desperate to get his sympathy, so I cleaned all the manor myself. I mean. You two were fine, but you were ridiculous â I never wanted to be like you when I grew up.
Dick: Ouch.
Alfred, smiling: The last time I rested well was when Master Jason was Robin. Needless to say, I definitely approve his attempts to make me proud.

This is the perfect time to bring in one of my very favorite things: shenanigans have occurred in such a way that people think Red Hood is Batmanâs dad.
What if everyone in Gotham knows who Batman is? They all know, they just donât say anything. Itâs not something that is spoken of or acknowledged in any way, other than the occasional glance or shared look of understanding. But they all know. Except for Brucie Wayne. Lord bless their himbo sunshine child, but he seems to be the only person in Gotham that doesnât know who Batman is. He must be protected at all costs.
Everyone in Gotham knows who Batman is. (Theyâre wrong)
#people think red hood showed up to be like#what do you think youâre doing going out dressed like that#and that batman is in his teenage rebellion phase or something#sure matches Malone looks like heâs fifty#*shocked offended noises from Bruce here*#but who knows what the life span of these cryptids actually is#is red hood Batmanâs dad#I love that tag so much you guys#red hood#batman#matches malone#jason todd#bruce wayne

Jason is a Teenage Dad Part 2
Jason was sitting with Danny on his lap on a sofa in the first floor living room of the manor. He could feel the boy was nervous and he did his best to comfort Danny as much as possible.
âHe smells like death DaddyâŠâ he said quietly. One of the first things Jason had learned about Danny on the way to the manor was that the child was really in tune with the paranormal. He seemed to see things others couldnât and could tell where people had died before. He had pointed out a few locations on the way since the two of them had to walk across the city to get there.
The second thing Jason had noticed was that Dannyâs speech was pretty advanced, using long sentences, complex vocabulary and correct grammar unlike most children his age. He could have long conversations with depth if he wanted to but this he only did sometimes when Danny thought it was important or if it was about the stars. Danny had mentioned how he couldnt see any because of the smog surrounding the city.
Jasonâs inner self really liked that Danny had called him that. It was almost like the kid had claimed him as much as Jason had claimed Danny. Like they both knew they were meant to stay side by side.
Jason spoke softly, âYeah he probably does buddy.â He didnât know if he wanted the 3 year old to know about Bruceâs extracurricular activities yet.
âIs he like us?â Danny asked, his eyes flashing green for a moment. A moment so short that you could almost miss it.
Jason shook his head, âNo, not quite. But he is safe.â
Danny seemed to think about this for a moment before nodding, though he didnât release his grip from Jason any bit. He was apprehensive still and that was okay. Jason was nervous too.
âSoâŠâ B said, sitting in a chair across from them, âYouâre alive.â
Bruce had repeated that statement at least 8 times since he had collected himself off the floor. When Jason first saw him, Bruce started crying hysterically in a way he had never seen before. He had slumped to the ground saying that he was seeing things because of his own guilt. At first Jason thought he was putting on his Brucie act but no⊠he was just that distraught. Unless it was a Brucie act. Jason was still 50 percent sure it was a Brucie act.
âI am,â Jason said in return. He didnât really know how to approach this.
âAnd you have a kid,â he said, gesturing to Danny. Ah yeah. Of course once Bruce got over himself he was going to pick up some context clues. No doubt he noticed that Danny had called him Daddy.
âI do. This is Danny,â Jason said carefully. The 3 year old was skittish to say the least when it came to anyone that wasnât Jason. He had learned that on their way across the city. Whenever anyone walked past them, Danny had hidden his face in Jasonâs shoulder. So because of this, he wasnât going to say anything Danny wasnât comfortable with. He was pretty sure he would feel it if they started to broach a subject Danny didnât like. He would feel it in his chest.
Jason watched as Bruce took a look at his toddler. No doubt noting the blood he was caked in. The eyebags and pale skin, the sunken in cheekbones and his overly thin appearance. All signs of malnutrition. Signs that Jason was going to be dead set on correcting.
âHi Danny. My name is Bruce,â B said. He smiled gently, caving in his shoulders to make his appearance smaller and less threatening. Jason was relieved. Were there lots of questions in Bâs head? Probably. But there was a very scared child so it wasnât the time to be asking them.
Jason felt Danny peel his face away from his shoulder enough to look at Bruce more head on, âH-hello.â
âDanny will be staying with me now,â Jason said. He felt a wave of relief come from Danny.
Bruce nodded. Again, he knew not to ask about details at the moment.
âYour room is just how you left it. Danny can stay in the room next to yours. I can install a connecting door between them if you want,â he said.
Jason nodded, âI think that would be best.â
The next morning came around and Danny had yet to let Jason put him down. Much less clean up the blood or change him into something clean. He did eat though when Jason said it was safe. It wasnât much but it was something. It was 7 am by the time Danny had finally fought sleep too long and passed out silently on Jasonâs shoulder. At least now they could talk more freely.
âI thought you were dead. The Joker, he sent out a video online of your body. I thought he killed you,â Bruce said. He was gripping his coffee mug a little bit too hard. Jason didnât want him to break it and wake up Danny.
âHe did,â Jason replied softly, gently taking the coffee from Bruce and setting it safely out of his dadâs reach, âWith a crowbar.â
âBut youâre here! Alive!â B whisper shouted.
Jason nodded subtly as to not wake Danny from moving too much, âI am. I woke up in the Lazarus. I think he dumped my body there.â
Bruce took a long look at Jason before responding, âYou seem awfully fine about that.â
Jason wanted to shrug but he would rather die again than wake his son, âI got better. And Joker wonât be a problem anymore B. His head is in our kitchen.â
Jason could practically hear Bruce grind his teeth, âYeah I saw that. Was that you?â
Jason hadnât even thought about the fact that it might have looked that way, âWhat? No. I woke up yesterday. I didnât have time for that. I found his head that way.â
âYou found his head that way,â Bruce repeated as if it was a hard concept.
âYes. Whose blood do you think is all over Danny? When I found him, he was playing with it,â Jason said. He didnt understand the confusion.
Bruce pinched the bridge of his nose, âWhere did you find this kid, Jason?â
âNext to the pit,â Jason said, his voice remaining soft, âRight next to the edge, I was afraid he was going to fall in.â Just thinking about it made Jason instinctively hold Danny closer.
Bruce let out a very tired sigh, âOkay.â

Timâs parents loved him. He knew that. But thing about that love was that⊠it was very conditional. Not in the way one would probably think. The best way to describe it would be out of sight out of mind.
When they were alive, Tim had learned very quickly that as long as he didnât bring attention to himself, his parents could go weeks without noticing his presence. Almost like they forgot he was there. Most of the time, this was in Timâs favor. He could focus on whatever puzzle he had found for himself and no one was going to look for him until he was done. He could literally see his mom walk past him in the hallway and as long as he stood still enough, she had absolutely no idea.
The first week Tim was at Wayne manor, he knew Bruce was grieving and had pretty much locked himself away in his room or in the Batcave Alfred wouldnât let him into. So he didnât see much of him at all. He was free to work on the puzzle of what had dropped him from the sky. He could think about Jasonâs murder. Maybe he could solve it.
But then Jason wasnât so dead anymore. Tim had listened in on as many conversations between Jason and Bruce as he could and he learned what had happened to him. Well that was one mystery solved.
But Tim still had the other mystery. So he did what he had always done. Hide himself away until he was done thinking about it. It had been a week since Jason had come back and brought Danny into the manor. Not a single person came to check on him. At least other than Alfred. They all had their own problems to worry about anyways.
Tim was having the same problem as before. He had very little info to go off of and not enough resources to get the intel he wanted. He kept coming back to that singular dead end. It was driving him nuts. How could he make any progress when he couldnât LEARN?
Tim was jostled out of his thoughts when he heard a knock on the door. He was in the room Bruce was letting him stay in. It was probably Alfred again to remind him to eat or something.
Tim got up from the desk and opened the door. It was Bruce.
âCan I come in?â the man asked.
Tim nodded, a little thrown off. Didnât this guy have other things to worry about? Like being Batman? Or the fact that his son was not actually dead?
Tim sat back down at the desk and he watched as Bruce took a seat on the bed.
âTim, Iâm sorry I havenât been very welcoming the past week,â he said.
Tim shrugged, âItâs fine. You had more important things.â
Bruce shook his head, âI did have other things to⊠handle but I should have been more present with you as well. You are in my home and I should have tended to you more than I did.â
That made him kind of confused. It wasnât like Tim was his son too. Was it like he really had anywhere else to go? No not really but at most Tim was probably just a guest to Bruce. Just some kid he had to save.
âI told you itâs fine. Iâm used to it,â Tim said.
Bruceâs eyebrows knit together for a moment before he seemed to control his face again, âIâm sorry to hear thatâŠ. I uh⊠looked into your records. You donât have anywhere to stay.â
Tim sighed, he knew this was going to come eventually. He was getting kicked from the manor. Which SUCKED! He hadnât even gotten a chance to tell Bruce that he wanted to help him. To fight crime and be useful. He had a PowerPoint and everything. Well at least he did on the computer he had back at Drake manor.
âSo I was wondering,â Bruce continued, âIf you wanted to stay here. With us. I would need to draft up some adoption papers of course so it can all be legalized but-â
Tim cut him off, âYes. I would love that!â To say Tim was surprised was an understatement but like hell he wasnât going to take this opportunity. If he was officially a Wayne, he could start dropping hints that he wanted to become a vigilante. That he wanted to help. Eventually maybe he could wear Bruce down enough to make it happen.
Bruce looked surprised, âReally?â
Clearly the old man thought it was going to take a lot more convincing. Luckily for him, Tim had his own motives for wanting to stay.
Tim nodded, âYes. Youâve already been nice enough to me. I donât have anywhere else to go. And besides. Iâve liked it here so far.â
Tim was pretty sure he saw some joy behind Bruceâs eyes even if his face didnât give that away. If he was that happy about it, maybe breaking down the old man wasnât going to be as hard as he had planned for it to be.
âThen I will get all of those legal documents in order. Did youâŠ. want to meet Jason and Danny?â Bruce asked.
Again Tim was surprised. He thought that the interaction would have ended there. He wasnât expecting⊠a warm invitation. But it couldnât hurt right?
âUh yeah. Sure,â Tim said.
