Due to COVID-19, check websites or contact businesses for reopening information and current hours.
After seeing a few of Seattle’s attractions, we headed back downtown where I enjoyed some craft beer and small plates. My first stop was Old Stove Brewing Company.
Located within the MarketFront of Pike Place Market, the brewery and taproom features 24 taps of craft beer made on-site, as well as local cider, wine, a full bar, and a seasonally rotating food menu.
As usual, I ordered a flight where you can choose 5 different brews.
Afterwards I walked over to JarrBar. The small, intimate bar features cured seafood and meats paired with classic cocktails, cold beer, and wines from Iberia. It’s all inspired by Bryan Jarr’s travels throughout Portugal and Northern Spain.
I sat at the bar and ordered a glass of white wine and a tin of sardines.
These canned products are very high quality and very tasty, like those you would find throughout Portugal. All tins are served with lemon, Jacobsen sea salt, and Espelette pepper.
After a nice happy hour, I went back to the apartment for a while where I never got tired of the lovely view.
Later that night, I went back out for dinner. I originally wanted to eat at Kamonegi, but shortly after arriving a water main broke down the street and they had to close their kitchen. Bummer. So I ended up at Adana instead where Chef Shota Nakajima showcases Japanese comfort food using products from the Pacific Northwest.
Tasting menus are offered in the dining room, but I decided to try a couple a la carte bites at the bar along with a Japanese-inspired cocktail. I had the Pork Katsu Sando made with fried pork tenderloin, slaw, and Japanese Bread. I also ordered the Mabushi Bowl with crispy chicken, soy, rice, and thinly sliced egg.
It was a jam-packed day and I was ready to relax at the apartment for the remainder of the night.
The previous morning I found a restaurant serving authentic Filipino-style breakfast. Ludi’s has since permanently closed unfortunately. Many are hoping that they will reopen in a different location.
But I had to share the awesome breakfast I ate there. They serve all types of silog and they had a Combo-silog– which included lumpia (Filipino spring roll), longanisa (sweet pork sausage), and a fried pork chop served with eggs and garlic fried rice. Um, yes!
The following day was our last day in Seattle. Before catching the train to Portland, I returned to Pike Place Market to have breakfast at Seatown Market Diner.
I remember watching Anthony Bourdain stop there on an episode of The Layover to have their fried egg sandwich with crab and avocado. Of course I had to try it.
I ordered a ginger beer and some yummy local oysters as a starter. They were so sweet.
The fried egg sandwich is made with a Dahlia Bakery English muffin, avocado, jack cheese, a fried egg, and Dungeness crab with a side of crispy hash browns topped with brown butter salt. It was all delicious.
We had such a nice time in Seattle. After breakfast, I returned to the apartment to pack and clean since we had a train to catch in a bit. Portland, Oregon was up next.

JarrBar is the creation of owner Bryan Jarr. In 2014 Bryan travelled through Portugal and Northern Spain researching traditional ways for preserving seafood. Jarr turned a storage closet beneath Pike Place Market into a bar resembling watering holes in Spain or Portugal, and the most welcoming neighborhood bar in the thick of the tourist zone. The white-walled space, it's staff, and the local patrons are about as charming as they come. Believe it or not, old school hip hop blaring through the doors is what got us in, the great service and friendly staff is why we stayed… and went back the next night! I love surprises. Be it breakfast in bed, a shy flower in sudden bloom or a call from an old friend. Surprises mean adventure...and I live for that! "Jarrbar?" @leandergreeny suggested via text early in my work day. His husband, @riz.rollins had a set to finish at @kexp, so that gave us time to catch up Bout writing, life and love since our raucous talks on the @jococruise . Creeping through the dark labyrinth of #pikeplacemarket , with its cobblestone alleys, the sickening sweet rancor of the #gumwall and hidden stairways, always delight me. I follow the fresh chalk #unicorns to Jarrbar, a tiny, tiny Spanish themed bar that reminded me of the watering holes in Osaka's glittering arcades. Sherry flights, artisan cocktails, highback wicker stools and #vinyl welcome as you breathe in the brine of the Puget Sound. Jarrbar showcased the #Spanish experience; tins of sardines, marinated olives and #Jambon while Keaton or Stephanie, spun #neosoul with a mischievous grin. More surprises to come, they purr. Ooo. @bytaeseattle had a #sushi #popup serving delish #handrolls like albacore, straw smoked hamachi, saba & shiso and scallop with ikura. Fresh and fast, Tae and his lovely wife dazzled us with @drumstick cones for dessert. For the kids, they said. Jarrbar is that open air secret that brings the languid European life to the #PNW. A wonderful place to pony up...if you can find it. That's part of the surprise. #seattle #nightlife #foodreview #foodie #radio (at JarrBar)

Customer Love Summit 2017: What to See, Do, and Experience
One of the best parts of our 2017 Customer Love Summit is introducing you to Seattle. We love our city and all it has to offer, and besides experiencing a day of invaluable mobile customer experience learnings together, we want to help you make the most of your time here.
If you haven’t reserved your spot at our Customer Love Summit, grab your ticket now!
Official Customer Love Summit events
Conference agenda
We’re thrilled to bring a world-class lineup of speakers to the stage. From retail giants like Gap and Lilly Pulitzer, to global brands like Disney and Starbucks, our speakers have set the bar for listening to, engaging with, and learning from their mobile customers.
You’ll hear how the best in business approach mobile engagement through in-depth talks highlighting strategy, new mobile technology, lessons learned, and how to measure success. Our session content has been curated to ensure attendees leave each talk with actionable takeaways they can implement immediately rather than high-level concepts that sound good in theory.
Throughout the day, you’ll hear from speaker panels and featured solo speakers, along with starting and ending the day with impressive keynotes. Here’s a quick peek into our keynote sessions:
Nicholas Drake, SVP of Digital at T-Mobile, will kick off the show first thing in the morning to discuss making experience your business. In this new era of experience business, the single biggest challenge facing companies is how to harness vast amounts of data and content to personalize customer experiences at scale. Making experience your business requires more than incremental change; it takes a fundamental rethink of your entire approach, both organizationally and technologically. Nick will discuss how his team is changing wireless for good by delivering experiences consumers not only expect—but demand.
Robi Ganguly, Apptentive’s CEO, will come to the stage mid-day to share an early scoop on Apptentive, along with a walk through on what’s coming up for our customers. You’ll get a heads-up about what’s coming so that you can get a leg up on strategizing with your team. Plus, you’ll get a chance to pick Robi’s brain directly about how the announcement will impact your mobile customer experience.
Tony Zito, VP of Digital Product and Programming at Disney, will close the day by sharing his talk Unloveable: a Customer Love Story. It’s one thing when you have a product that’s inherently “delightful”, and you have the luxury of prioritizing user experience over all else, but what do you do when you have a product that is so burdened with user-antagonistic requirements that it’s downright unloveable? Is there any hope? Tony will describe the challenges they have faced as a TV network app in a Netflix world, and the steps they have taken to mitigate those issues and earn their customer’s love, against all odds.
Are you jazzed yet?! Join us for these great talks and more by reserving your ticket.
Post-conference Appy Hour
The conference is the main event, but the fun doesn’t stop there. Join us after the show for our biggest Appy Hour of the year to gather, relax with a drink in hand, and discuss everything that goes on in the world of apps and app development—and what you experienced at the Customer Love Summit!
Explore Seattle while you’re here!
There’s no place quite like Seattle in the summer. If you plan to come in early or stay through the weekend, we recommend the following activities, bars, restaurants, and events.
Walkable destinations from the Columbia Tower Club
Seattle is incredibly walkable, especially from the Columbia Tower Club where this year’s Customer Love Summit will be held. Here are a few places to see when you need to stretch your legs.
Seattle Mariners vs. New York Yankees If you’re a baseball fan, this is one series you don’t want to miss! Watch our Mariners take on the New York Yankees at home July 20-23. Tickets start at $19 per person.
Pike Place Market The market is a favorite destination for Seattle locals and tourists alike. Head over for delicious food, beautiful city views, brilliant summer flowers, local craft vendors, and yes, to see the infamous fish throwing.
Road Dogs Local Brewery Tour Located at the base of Pike Place Market, this tour is an easy way to see and taste great Seattle brews. Tours last three hours starting at $79 per person.
Starbucks Reserve Roastery and Tasting Room Seattle is the birthplace of Starbucks, and for coffee lovers, there may be no cooler place than the Starbucks Reserve roastery and tasting room. Experience bean roasting, shop one-of-a-kind gifts, and indulge in a glass of wine or beer while you savor a unique Starbucks experience.

Plenty of Apptentive employees will be in attendance, which means the Customer Love Summit fun doesn’t have to stop on Wednesday after Appy Hour concludes.
Apptentive team recommendations
Olympic Sculpture Park, recommended by Matthew Callis Olympic Sculpture Park gives you the chance to walk along the waterfront right on the beach. It offers a little bit of everything that isn’t a $40 trip to the top of an old tower (i.e. the Space Needle).
Water taxi to West Seattle, recommended by Meghan Warbis If it’s sunny, take the water taxi to West Seattle. Take a nice stroll and enjoy the skyline view of Seattle. Head over to Salty’s for a sit down meal or Spud’s for fish n’ chips on Alki Beach.
Purple Cafe and The Harvest Vine, recommended by Max Kelly Purple Cafe is super popular downtown. Really great food, cool atmosphere, and a huge wine selection. Outside of downtown, Seattle’s best restaurant is Harvest Vine.. Very good dishes made to share with a wide variety of flavors, and probably my favorite restaurant ever.
Smith Tower Bar, recommended by Alex Troyer One of my favorite things to do in Seattle is going to the Smith Tower Bar and getting a small bite to eat and a fun cocktail. You get to hear about the history of Smith Tower, who lives at the top, and the view is amazing. It is also not super expensive and not completely filled with tourists.
Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum, recommended by Emily Carrion The Chihuly Glass Museum is my favorite exhibit in the city. Dale Chihuly was a Seattle local, which adds a special something. It’s absolutely beautiful and provides an indoor/outdoor experience you can’t get anywhere else!
Kerry Park, recommended by Veronica Bisceglie Go to Kerry Park for beautiful views of the city! Be sure to bring your camera along to capture the picturesque city views, and to (hopefully!) take in the gorgeous July weather Seattle tends to offer.
Apptentive favorite bars and restaurants
For those who prefer to eat and drink their way through new cities (count me in!), check out these favorite bars and restaurants from the Apptentive team.

Blessed SUN 4/23/17
Beat: Spotify Hour: 11:56 AM BRUNCH - JC It was so great catching up with JC. He said he reached out to me because he saw JP at Trinity and wondered why he was there. Turns out Doug told him I was back on the market because someone’s sister was part of the group that JP came with? Shrugs. Either way, Seattle is small and news travels. I guess that’s why JP wanted to spread the news about so fast. Let the girls go to him. because they think he’s got them dollar bills to toss. It was so amazing that we were able to talks for hours at Red Cedar & Sage. The place closed and didn't even try to kick us out. JC took care of the check. He had always been a generous guy. We went to JarrBar which was 10 seconds away. We had more drinks (he 2, me 1) and I got it this time. He was perplexed in a good way. He wasn’t used to me paying. The first time was when he and I got drinks and almonds. The second time he just got a Macallan 12. Wow, how invigorating to catch up. However, I had to cut it short considering that I was going to have dinner with Matt in the evening and had no idea JC and I could talk for that long. I already had to push the reservations from 6 to 7 PM. DINNER - MG He picked me up at my place. I always enjoy when a guy picks me up. There is something chivalrous about the notion of him taking the time and efforts to come get me, wait in the car as I come out, seeing his head turn to see me, and smiling to say hi and ask how I am. Once we were seated and they brought out our bottle of red wine, I turned to MG and told him gleefully, “I very much enjoy our dinners. Great company, awesome conversations, stellar food, great appreciation for libations.. just a great time!” And he thought very much the same. Goodness, we even talked for a bit too. So why is it that I can do this with everyone but JP? MG ended up taking care of the bill as well. And drove me home. How did I get so lucky? I feel absolutely blessed! HOME - JP I shouldn't have. I didn’t want to. But I actually did want to. I looked through his conversation with TV on Slack. Takeaways were: - TV asked if he was going to hook up with girls at the wedding. JP said he wasn’t going to cheat even if he was on a break. And while the girls could carry intellectual conversations, she was not attractive. - TV has cheated on his gf before. JP never let a bf stop him from trying because half the girls he was with at one stage of his life was like that. And it messed with him emotionally how easy it was for a girl to cheat. Or anyone. You must be valuable to be irreplaceable. - He proclaimed the official breakup. And that he wanted to go to Coachella because of it. He will get rejected a lot and that’s OK. He is going for the experience and to get a beating. He likes quality wins, not easy wins. - He doesn’t care about getting laid. That’s the easy part. Just go out at 1:30 AM around the clubs and should easily score for the night. He hasn’t even tried to get numbers nor does he want to. He wants to just focus on the app. How do I not let this imprison me? SS thinks not wiping the phone was intentional. MG thinks any normal person would wipe the phone before handing it over. I honestly don’t think he can think that far ahead or is that manipulative to do that. I probably shouldn’t even be on the dating apps and just focus on myself. And reconnecting with friends. And read. Read a shitton.
