Hetalia characters with dishes typical for their country - part 1 (part 2 here)
Tumblr media
Italy: Maritozzo (cream bread) -> This Roman milk bread is said to be dated back to times of Ancient Rome. The baked good is filled with generous amounts of whipped cream and somtimes decorated with fruit or pistachio. Young man also used it in courtship by hiding jewellery or a ring in the filling.
Tumblr media
Germany: Breze(l) mit Schokolade (chocolate dipped pretzel) -> A baked pastry with sweet or salty toppings, best known for its distinctive symetrical, knotted shape. Dipped in chocolate the soft pretzel is a popular snack at funfairs and markets, but there are also small, crispy pretzels that are to be eaten like crisps/chips.
Tumblr media
Japan: å’Œč“å (wagashi; plant based sweet) -> Originally meaning "Japanese confectionery" the term now refers to a traditional dessert made from plant based ingredients. It's artful shapes are influenced by season, nature, or even poetry.
Tumblr media
France: Quiche Lorraine -> A savoury tarte traditionally made with a filling of eggs, heavy cream, ham, and bacon. Today cheese is often added, though it is controversial among professionals. (In the drawing there seems to be leek added too which is not mentioned in the original recipe either.)
Tumblr media
England: Scotch Egg -> Supposedly inspired by the Indian nargisi koftas, this dish consists of a hard-boiled or soft-boiled egg wrapped in pork (sausage meat) which is coated in breadcrumbs and then baked or deep-fried. Often served in pubs and a popular cold snack as well.
Tumblr media
America: Hamburger -> A popular fastfood consisting of a patty (traditionally made from ground beef) between two halfs of a sliced bun. There are countless variations made with all kinds of additional ingredients and condiments, including expensive high-end versions with edible goldflakes.
Tumblr media
Russia: ŠæŠøрŠ¾Š¶ŠŗŠøĢ (Pirozhki; stuffed bread) -> This popular street food is a baked good made from yeast-dough is typically boat-shaped and filled sweet or savory with meat, vegetables, fruit, jam or tvorog (an Eastern European fermented milk product with a consistency similar to curd cheese)
Tumblr media
China: 小ē± åŒ…Ā /Ā å°ē¬¼åŒ… (Xiaolongbao; steamed bun) -> Steamed dumplings made from leavened or unleavened dough traditionally filled with minced pork, traditionally eaten for breakfast. The top of the dumpling is closed by folding and pinching it. Authentical dumplings have at least 14 folds, preferably 18.

okay international working womens weekend daytime luncheon in my home for maybe 7-10 people, one week from today
nobody i really need to impress. if anyone confirms gluten free or dairy free iā€™ll fine tune, otherwise everything is always baseline meat free and nut free (with the option for me to throw in some tinned fish from my pantry)
snacky/salads vibe, maybe dips
for sure doing:
lemon poppy seed loaf. i REALLY want to do sallyā€™s new lemon poppy seed muffins but iā€™d need to get a new muffin tin and weā€™re šŸ“¢ not doing too much
cardamom strawberry jam bars (craving cardamom stuff all the time)
pretty sure i can do both of the above without buying anything; although iā€™d have to make the jam from frozen strawberries (i want to pan anyway)
really want to do MOCKTAILS. i wouldnā€™t mind investing in a few staples for myself anyway. i think i for sure will get orange juice and and a sparkling juiceā€” PLEASE RECOMMEND ! what would be a good second mocktail or some ingredients to buy? especially because i have several interesting bitters, including chocolate. and i could put out tart cherry juice i have, and iā€™ll make a pitcher of iced tea. oh maybe i should make iced chai from scratch šŸ¤” in any case this is where iā€™ll spend most money
central offering will be a bean dish, either a bean salad (WHATS THE BEST ONE YOUVE HAD?) OR (hot dish) the bean ziti smitten kitchen posted whichā€¦ i want to do this. is it šŸ“¢ doing too much? yes. But. she said.. if i did iā€™d have to do bread with it, which makes me nervous (i donā€™t have good bread instincts)
if i go with SK iā€™ll have extra basil for a veg salad. it seems too early for the typical basil salad uses so iā€™d have to brainstorm. my go-to would be a carrot salad and a smashed cucumber salad, both of which are options but wouldnā€™t go that well. this would be a good time to try doing the viral salad seasoning pasta salad - should iā€¦
i will for sure make japanese potato salad because i have a ton of kewpie to use up. in fact i may need to make a second kewpie salad
if i were going the dips route iā€™d the lauren toyotaā€™s vegan nacho cheese but iā€™m just not inspired
a typical go-to spread for me might be the spicy sour cold spaghetti noodles from woks of life with carrot salad and cucumber salad and maybe marinated tofu but it doesnā€™t feel like the vibe
eta you know what, i have dates and am craving goat cheese dates, i should add those to the menu. i was going to avoid any fussy assembly but these would be worth it
i reaaally need to actually budget this because even though itā€™s arguably chapter business i canā€™t get chapter money (which i expected). the plan was to make asking for financial support (maybe $35 in food) for the womenā€™s section a progressed structure test, but leadership failed structure test one (being willing to speak to us or respond to our communication when we told them we were organizing a womens day event) so iā€™m back to structure test negative one (them not murdering us)
so my plan is to have three dishes plus 2 sweet ones and all but 1 should be make ahead, and some chips maybe or something like that
however as you know i have a habit of doing too much for this sort of thing lol

My mom sent me a huge sampler of Japanese snacks. Not sure where she ordered it from but I'm having fun going through all of it and since these are mostly things I've never eaten and that you can't really find here, I felt compelled to start reviewing them.
Misc Snacks
ć‚ćƒ£ćƒ™ćƒ„å¤Ŗ郎 (Cabbage Tarou) - Does not taste at all like cabbage but I liked it. It's like if a cheese puff was flavoured with worcestershire sauce and topped with seaweed flakes. I could see myself eating a big bag of these in one sitting. 5/5
ćƒćƒ§ć‚³ćƒćƒ§ćƒƒćƒˆćƒ•ćƒ¬ćƒ¼ć‚Æ (Choco Chotto Flake) - Chocolate flakes packed together with a semi-sweet flavour. It's like a tiny dense rice cake. Pretty good. 4/5
Kit-Kats
Wasabi - Unique flavour, though with a name like that I was expecting it to be spicy and it isn't at all. I liked it but it's not my fave. 3/5
Apple - It smells just like apple juice, but the taste is kind of odd. It's dark chcolate and sweet apple together. Maybe other people would like it but I didn't care for it much. 2/5
Strawberry Chocolate Gateaux - This shit slapped. The strawberry was super tart but it went really well with the chocolate. 5/5
Tirol Chocolates
Not much to say about these. They're little chocolates with either jelly or cookie filling.
Green Tea Mochi - 3/5
Bis Milk Chocolate - 4/5
White & Cookies - 3/5
Stay tuned for more of this ig unless I forget.

I got tagged by @tinydooms ā€œpeople I'd like to get to know better"! Here we go:Ā
Last song: I've been listening to the album ā€œEros, Agape, Philiaā€ by Queer Feminist trad. folk/electro artist Sara Parkman on repeat the last week. Her song ā€œthe roseā€ has the most delicious stanza of sacral stream of consciousness lyrics: Eve: give me the apple, Heart: bring the beat, Eat me, Eat the bread, Drink me, Drink the blood, Bite me, Hard in the hand, Chaos give us life, Dance for us.ā€ (own translation). And some of her queer fighting spirit lyrics have made this atheist sense God (through an understanding of Nietzscheā€™s take on Christianityā€™s slave morality). If it sounds intense, itā€™s because it was.
Favorite colour: Yellow. Love a pop of bright yellow to lighten your mood, or a musky mustard yellow for that autumn vibe. Doing my best to stay in academia style.
Currently watching: Avatar the last airbender live action with the kids: Going through all Brendan Fraser films on my own. (Favorite so far, beside the Mummy, is Airheads!)Ā
Spicy/savory/sweet: most times I would go with savory: a good plate of cheese and charcuteries. If sweet: it needs to be tart! Sour raspberries with dark chocolate.
Relationship status: married with three kids!
Hidden talent: I speak Japanese. (And Iā€™m great at knitting but that's more in the open)
Current obsession: itā€™s a tie between Brendan Fraser and Tarzan. (No need for George of the Jungle jokes.)
Tagging: @ricochetoconnell and anyone else who wants to play.

Twisted Wonderland ask: If every dorm ran a bakery what would their Signature Baked Item(TM) be and why? Please be specific to the item (ie: can't say "chocolate cake").
Hi friend! What a lovely ask, thank you! I am looking forward to answering šŸ’œ
Heartslaybul - I think Heartslaybul's bakery would have very delicious tarts. For their Signature Baked Item, I would think a raspberry jam-filled tartlet, with a crown design baked and placed carefully on the top. I chose raspberry because I really enjoy the flavour and I like the beautiful deep red colour of the jam. I feel the red would fit very well in a Heartslaybul theme, and the crown of course represents the Queen of Hearts.
Savanaclaw - Ok, we ALL know how Ruggie lost his mind in the Tsumderland event and cried "They turned Leona into a marketable plushie!!!šŸ˜". So like, you know Japanese Hamster Bread? Like that, except little lions. Entirely Ruggie's idea, and he is ecstatic at the profit they are bringing in. (Leona has no clue this is a thing. Ruggie will not tell him. Vil buys one every week just so he can bite its head off and then gives the body to Rook.)
Octavinelle - Cupcakes. They're fun and there's so many ways to decorate them. Specifically, for the Signature Cupcake: a purple batter that bakes into a lovely lilac coloured cupcake. The decoration: icing of blues and greens in a pattern that resembles waves, with a cream-coloured coiled shell made entirely of icing on top, and edible silver ball sprinkles scattered over it. I would like to think Azul has them make a "surprise" cupcake. There's always one cupcake per batch that has a filling of some kind, cream cheese icing, chocolate, vanilla...basically whatever Floyd is feeling that day (the cupcake itself is a vanilla flavour, which goes with pretty much any other flavour). The thing that draws people in is that they could get the cupcake with the filling! Rumour has it, the filling cupcake is Lucky and will help you pass your exams/assignments with flying colours (a rumour that Jade Definitely Did Not Start) and so demand is high. Which, of course, allows Azul to charge more for the cupcakes. You know. Supply and demand.
Scarabia - Thumb-print cookies with different jam fillings. They're colourful, you can buy a bunch at a time and share them, and the jam filling looks like edible jewels. I think Kalim would like these very much and I think he would want them to be the number one baked good in the store. They're not very difficult to make, so he even gets Jamil to teach him so he can help stock the store with more cookies. (I feel like Jamil would have to remind Kalim that people want more than just cookies from a bakery lol)
Pomefiore - Apple Pie. I know, I know...not very original or shocking. But, not just any apple pie. Mini apple pie shaped like a rose. Gorgeous and elegant, it tastes as delicious as it is beautiful. (If you can't picture it, please see in this link here) Of course, Epel's hometown supplies the apples. Rook is weeping at the beauty of the pies. Even Vil will have one, since it is small and not excessive.
Ignihyde - Specialty cookies. You know the ones; they're large cookies, a plain base, with gorgeous - sometimes even intricate - designs done in icing. I feel like the designs would change frequently, to fit the themes of the seasons, holidays, or ongoing releases of popular games/movies/etc. The designs are ART. Cater comes at least twice a week to buy a cookie and take pictures for Magicam. (At first he felt guilty because he didn't want to betray his bf, Trey, but then Trey said he wanted to try one, so they started going together on their dates.)
Diasomnia - Buns. Buns with...unique...fillings. Multiple unique fillings. Is it really so much a signature item as it is a game of roulette? With Lilia at the wheel, it's never a guarantee if the bun will even be edible...But somehow, that makes the other students even more eager to try it. It becomes kind of like Beanboozled. They make a game of it: who can chew the longest without swallowing or spitting it out, who got the best flavour, can you finish the entire bun or will you leave hungry? Lilia is having the Time of His Life and Silver is too afraid to go in the kitchen.
There you have it! My headcanons on what each dorm would have as a signature item if they ran a bakery! Hope you enjoyed, and please tell me your own thoughts! What signature items would you assign each dorm? I'd love to hear!

What are the witchesā€™ favourite foods?
I personally think Gretchen would be fond of cream stew. It is Madokaā€™s canonical favourite food.
I'm not a very foody person but I'll do my best
Gertrud likes light sweet things like cheesecake or creme brulee. She has a sophisticated and adult palette. Her favourite is white chocolate and ginger cheesecake
Sulieka likes bitter and spicy food. She has a high spice tolerance. Her favourite is high percentage dark chocolate
Charlotte loves cheese but also does like sweet things. She's the kind to like odd combinations such as cheese and sweets. It's certainly strange but at least she'll eat almost anything. Her favourite is goats cheese
Elly has a sweet tooth but also likes quick ready meals like instant ramen. She hates cooking so just likes snacking on things and cooking things that simply go in the oven or microwave. She either eats far too much or not enough, she's desperately underweight. Her favourite is ajitama soy sauce ramen
Albertine has a very immature palette. Won't eat vegetables except carrots. She loves sweet things so much but doesn't have very good teeth... Her favourite is strawberry shortcake
Gisela doesn't really care about food so eats whatever. She prefers bland tasting things and can't really stomach things that are too spicy or rich. Doesn't eat in public as she has a strange way of digesting things. Her favourite, if she had to choose, would be a turkey sandwich.
Elsa Maria is the kind of person to eat anything just to please whoever has cooked for her so doesn't have anything she really doesn't like. But her favourites are ice cream and milkshakes, strawberry flavour for both~
Uhrmann is a picky eater and likes sweet things the most. She's underweight because she eats such few things. Her favourite is anything rhubarb and custard flavoured
Oktavia likes warm meals and spicy things. Really likes to eat meat. Her favourite is chicken curry
Izabel is another picky eater. She hates cooking but is also very judgemental of when other people cook for her. She hates anything that takes a long time to prepare. Her favourite is tart tatin (but she won't make it herself)
Patricia has a fondness for bento boxes and sushi. They make her feel nostalgic and she can make her own maki rolls very well. She loves to make food for others, especially her Mathieu. Her favourite is california rolls
Roberta is far more partial to any alcoholic beverage than food. But if she had to choose it'd be something fancy and expensive. She loves to spoil herself and to be spoiled. Her favourite is sachertorte
Kriemhild Gretchen's tastes are indeed similar to Madoka's. She loves home cooked food and eating meals with her friends. Her favourites are cream stew and hot chocolate
Walpurgisnacht likes warming food like a curry or stew and likes to make big meals for her daughters. Her favourite is beef bourguingon
Candeloro's tastes are similar to Mami's. She loves tea and cake and especially throwing tea parties. Her favourite tea is green tea and her favourite cake is red velvet cake
Ophelia is more picky than Kyoko but not desperately. She's a sucker for Japanese food and will gladly try anything new from the genre. Her favourite food is tempura
Homulilly likes sweet things, especially pastries and things with fruit in. Her favourite is strawberry tart

NEW YORK
New York was a dream and this time around I got to enjoy the city differently. My first time to NYC was in 2018 with my mum and since it was my first time there I wanted to do all the touristy things and visit iconic movie landmarks. This time around the itinerary was different for my husband and I.
We got to take it a day at a time, visiting landmarks I've saved on my Pinterest and TikTok. We stayed on 42nd St which was directly next to Grand Central in the bustle of the city but my favourite spot from this trip has to be Brooklyn/Williamsburg.
I shared some of my recs via the different neighbourhoods we visited throughout our trip on my Instagram Broadcast channel but listing them all down below for an easier read :)
Coffee chains I visited around the city:
What I ordered -
Blue Bottle - Sweet Coffee
Bluestone Lane - Iced Honey Oat Latte
Brooklyn/Williamsburg:
What I ordered -
L'Appertement 4F - possibly my favourite and most memorable bakery spot ever. There was something about its cozy ambience as your approach their store in Brooklyn. It is the girl bakery dream. We had an Everything croissant and it was so fluffy, flavourful and the perfect type of savoury croissant.
Poppy's Brooklyn - matcha with pistachio milk! my first time trying pistachio milk and enjoyed the mix of matcha and pistachio.
Vinnies Brooklyn - come and stay for their elote pizza and add extra hot sauce ;)
Levain Bakery - a chain so youā€™ll find this everywhere but we went to the one at Williamsburg! Got the triple chocolate chip cookie yum.
Bakeri Brooklyn - the coziest looking bakery tucked in the midst of Williamsburg - I could imagine a cozy rainy day here. I saw a lot of people getting their soup of the day but we just got their Christmas special triple chocolate peppermint cookie.
East Village:
What I ordered -
From Lucie - oat milk latte with lavender (Iā€™m not going to lie this may have been my favourite coffee so far) and we took away their mini carrot cake with vanilla frosting
Tompkins Square Bagels - everything bagel with cream cheese, the perfect bagel order when youā€™re not looking for a lot of things!
Katz Deli - some say pastrami, I say where Harry meets Sally. A wide menu to choose from, Ashwyn had their pastrami sandwich (as theyā€™re famous for) and I had the cucumbers and pickles on the side with their house mustard which I loved.
SoHo:
What I ordered -
Eileen's Cheesecake - I donā€™t like cheesecake so this was for Ashwyn! He loves a good cheesecake anywhere. He got a strawberry tart and he said it was good and crumbly.
Sporty & Rich Cafe - when in SoHo and in NY, I had toā€¦ got the Smoothie #1 on their menu which was a mix of berries. It was yum and a large size.
Aime Leon Dore Cafe - also when in NYā€™s SoHoā€¦ known for their Freddo Espresso but we just got a cookie to go! Was caffeinated 2x by the time we got here.
Pop Up Bagels - we took away an Everything bagel and a Salted Poppyseed bagel with a tub of scallion schmear, this was soooo good.
La Cabra Coffee - took away their oat latte and it was divine.
Kips Bay:
What I ordered -
Birch Coffee - An everything croissant (you can tell that we had quite a bit of an ā€œeverythingā€ something and all of it has been so good) and an iced honey oat latte + a hot vanilla oat latte.
Bryant Park/5th Avenue:
What I ordered -
Sweet Green - Iā€™ve seen so much about it online, I just had to try it IRL. Loved my kale salad combo - crispy kale, miso glazed salmon, spicy cashew dressing, breadcrumbs, chilli flakes yum.
Suki Japanese Kitchen - a Japanese curry house; we both got the curry rice and tried it at different spice levels. Ashwyn got a 3 and I got a 5 ;)
Baked by Melissa - a city cupcake chain. We tried their mini Christmas sugar cookie, PB&J and cookie dough.
Magnolia Bakery - home of the best banana pudding in town and you know it.
In a New York state of mind x

On our travels, and whilst developing our own range of favourite flavours, we cam across some really wacky and weird ice cream flavours. Here are a few of the bing boggling, or stomach churning examples. Viagra Ice Cream Evidently it caused a bit of controversy this one. The brainchild of a Welsh food inventor Charlie Harry Francis who created it for one of his A list celebrity clients. It is claimed that each scoop contains 25mg of viagra. Can't see this one appearing on the shelves of Tesco. Wasabi Ice Cream Wasabi, that ultra hot Japanese delicacy made from a Japanese horseradish. This can be blisteringly hot on the palate, and is a firm favourite of our MD. We haven't actually tried this one, and wonder if the coolness of the ice cream offsets the heat of the wasabi. White Chocolate Banana Curry Take a nice white chocolate melted with banana's and fragrant Indian curry powder. It brings to mind Indian take outs and summer nights. Goat's Cheese With Red Cherries Ice Cream An American concoction this one. Creamy goats cheese melded with the tart taste of roasted cherries. This one supposedly tastes like a cherry cheesecake. Ghost Pepper Ice Cream A strange blend this one, the world's hottest chili pepper blended with a sweet peppermint ice cream. Definitely one for the spice lovers. As they say indulge at your own risk. Squid Ink Ice Cream From the land of the rising sun, another way out weird option. Squid ink ice cream. Purportedly this has a fishy taste and a shocking black colour. It was originally a novelty flavour but has become more of a staple option. Horse Meat Flavour Ice Cream Definitely not on the wish list this one, there is a reason that horse meat should be kept in dog food. If you want something a little more traditional for your wedding or event rather than these weird ice cream flavours then check out our boutique ice cream hire carts. Read the full article

Pairing Nori Komi Furikake with Different Types of Cuisine
Tumblr media
A versatile Japanese condiment, nori komi furikake has become renowned worldwide for its capacity to improve a wide range of meals in addition to its delicious flavor. Nori komi furikake rice seasoning, which combines seaweed, sesame seeds, sugar, and salt, is well-known for its savory, umami-rich flavor profile and works well with more than simply rice. Here's how to enhance your culinary creativity by pairing Hawaiian and nori komi furikake with other cuisines.
#1: Traditional Japanese Dishes
To begin with, nori komi furikake is a natural complement to traditional Japanese food. The most popular way to use this seasoning is to sprinkle it over steamed rice, which adds a crunchy, tasty contrast to the rice's bland texture. It also tastes well blended over a basic bowl of soba noodles or strewn over onigiri (rice balls), adding a nutty texture and a hint of the sea to these recipes.
#2: Breakfast Foods
Try mixing nori komi furikake into your omelets or scrambled eggs for a unique breakfast option. The depth of flavor that the seasoning gives enhances the eggs without overpowering them. For avocado toast lovers, a sprinkling of furikake on top of the mashed avocado adds a surprisingly tasty crunch and flavor that is both filling and healthy.
#3: Seafood Enhancements
Nori komi furikake goes well with fish meals since it contains components from the ocean. It can be added as a last touch to grilled fish, like tilapia or salmon, bringing out the natural flavors of the fish without the need for thick sauces. Furikake can also be added to mayonnaise to make a delightful and unusual dip or spread for crab or shrimp cakes.
#4: Salads and Vegetables
Not only does nori komi furikake go well with rice and fish, but it also makes salads and vegetables taste delicious. Add a little to a fresh cucumber salad or mix it into a dressing to pour over a salad of tomatoes and onions. When added to sautƩed or steamed greens like spinach or kale, a dash of furikake adds a fresh layer of flavor that makes eating cooked vegetables anything from dull.
#5: Snacks and Sides
Sprinkle some nori komi furikake over your regular popcorn to make a healthier and tastier snack than the butter-soaked variety. Additionally, it can be combined with cream cheese to create a distinctive spread for toast or crackers or used as a fantastic topping for baked potatoes.
#6: International Fusion
Furikake's versatility isn't limited to seafood or Japanese cuisine. It can improve the taste of a lot of foreign foods. For example, to give a delicious umami flavor that goes well with both meat and vegetarian toppings, consider scattering some furikake over a pizza before baking. For an added crunch and taste boost, you can also incorporate it into the breadcrumb coating for fried chicken.
#7: Creative Desserts
Nori komi furikake can also be used in sweets for people with strong palates. To create a gourmet experience that is guaranteed to impress, a light sprinkle over a caramel or chocolate tart can balance sweetness with its salty and savory overtones.
To sum up, nori komi furikake and Hawaiian furikake are not only found in Japanese kitchens; they are a common pantry item that can elevate everyday meals into special occasions. Furikake provides an easy and quick method to add depth and excitement to your cooking, whether you're making breakfast, improving your seafood dishes, or trying out new snack ideas. Discover how this adaptable flavor may elevate commonplace meals to remarkable levels by incorporating it into a variety of cuisines.

Imagine a flawlessly cooked sausage covered with Japanese mayo, seaweed, and teriyaki sauce. Because of its distinctive fusion of culinary styles, japadog is now a street snack that both residents and visitors should eat.
4. Montreal-Style Bagels: An Original Take on a Classic: Although they may not be limited to street food, bagels prepared in Montreal offer a distinctive take on this traditional dish. Montreal bagels are hand-rolled, boiled in water sweetened with honey, and cooked to perfection in wood-fired ovens. They are denser, smaller, and sweeter than their New York counterparts. These bagels are perfect for snacking on while exploring Montreal's lively districts. They're commonly offered with different spreads, like cream cheese or smoked salmon.
5.Bannock: Ancient Origins, Contemporary Pleasure: Bannock, a street food staple in Canada, has its origins in Indigenous cuisine. The history of this flatbread, which is usually baked or fried, stretches back to before Europeans arrived in the nation. These days, bannock is consumed in a variety of ways, including Savory and sweet. It's probable that you'll come across a food truck or vendor selling this adaptable and delectable Indigenous delight, whether you're strolling through the streets of Yellowknife or right in the middle of Winnipeg.

These mouthwatering pastries have a flaky pastry shell covering an oozy, buttery interior. Butter tarts are the epitome of a treat for any sugar craving, whether they are eaten simple or topped with raisins or nuts. It's a truly Canadian culinary experience to find a street vendor selling these delicious delicacies, particularly during festivals and gatherings.
7. A Quick and Easy Breakfast Option: Peameal Bacon Sandwich: A Canadian staple for a substantial street food breakfast is the peameal bacon sandwich. Description about the ClassicĀ BasqueĀ Cheesecake.
Cheesecake is a sweet dessert consisting of one or more layers. The main, and thickest, layer consists of a mixture of a soft, fresh cheese (typically cottage cheese, cream cheese, quark or ricotta), eggs, and sugar. If there is a bottom layer, it most often consists of a crust or base made from crushed cookies (or digestive biscuits), graham crackers, pastry, or sometimes sponge cake. Cheesecake may be baked or unbaked (and is usually refrigerated).
Tumblr media
Modern cheesecake is not usually classified as an actual "cake", despite the name (compare with Boston cream "pie"). Some people classify it as a torte due to the usage of many eggs, which are the sole source of leavening, as a key factor. Others find compelling evidence that it is a custard pie, based on the overall structure, with the separate crust, the soft filling, and the absence of flour. Other sources identify it as a flan, or tart.
Cheesecake is usually sweetened with sugar and may be flavored in different ways. Vanilla, spices, lemon, chocolate, pumpkin, or other flavors may be added to the main cheese layer. Toppings for cheesecake can include sour cream, fruit sauces, chocolate or caramel syrup, nuts, whipped cream, or pieces of fruit.
Cheesecake is a popular dessert around the world, and there are many different regional variations. In the United States, the most common type of cheesecake is New York-style cheesecake, which is made with cream cheese, eggs, sugar, and a graham cracker crust. Other popular types of cheesecake include Italian cheesecake, which is made with ricotta cheese, and Japanese cheesecake, which is a lighter and fluffier version of the dessert.
Cheesecake can be enjoyed as a special occasion dessert or as a everyday treat. It is a versatile dessert that can be served plain, topped with a variety of fruits or sauces, or baked in different shapes and sizes.
Here are some interesting facts about cheesecake:
The earliest known cheesecake recipes date back to ancient Greece and Rome.
Cheesecake was a popular dessert during the Middle Ages, and it was often served at weddings and banquets.
The first cheesecake factory was opened in New York City in 1910.
The largest cheesecake ever made weighed over 10,000 pounds and was served at a food festival in Texas in 2008.
The world's most expensive cheesecake is made with white truffles and costs over $1,000 per slice.
Whether you enjoy it plain, topped with fruit, or baked in a different shape, cheesecake is a delicious and versatile dessert that is sure to please.
