Lemme write down my dream (one of them) from last night so I don’t forger:

Went hunting legendary animals in the red dead universe with my dad?? We didn’t find anything. And I got split up from him and ended up coming across Jamie, Erin and Mark building a house?? In the hills? And apparently they were hiding from something and Kate and Charlie were dead. I helped them build their little house but it was SOOO shit. Made out of planks and shit. The bed was MADE OF PLANKS and there was only one so we all had to try and fit on it but we were FOUR PEOPLE. (I think I remember my spot tho. I was between Erin and Mark) Erin was a bit traumatised so she didn’t speak for the entire duration. But I did have some very deep chats with Mark and Jamie. Then these three kids kept staring at us through the windows so Jamie tried to board them up but somehow the kids KEPT FINDING WAYS TO STARE IN AT US!! We eventually did sleep though, and in the morning apparently we were all wolves?? I mean okay! And we went hunting for legendary animals. I killed the legendary buck, Jamie killed the legendary moose, and Erin killed the legendary beaver. Mark killed nothing bc he sucks at this shit. And for some reason we were all kinda selfish and we didn’t bring our kills back to share them, we all just ate whatever we caught right there. Anyway that night we were trying to sleep again but the kids KEPT LOOKING IN !! And then I went out the next morning to try and hunt again but ran into my DAD and he was having a crisis bc he found out that the dad from the spiderverse movies was his dad???? And that’s when everything stopped making sense forever so I think that’s when it ended… and morphed into the next one but I only remember that one very vaguely

Based on CPC wiki there's 8 main characters, but since I already drawing Gwen and Frederick in Hogwarts AU - I give doodles to other main characters (doodle as it will more tidier and nicer with colors if I use more then one tool but well.. If the writings not clear, here the list of the crossovers!

Maria as a character in Oshi no Ko with Star-gan (not necessary be Ai Hoshino TBH, btw the OP lyric also has 'Maria' in it so I feel it fits!)

Lorena as a warrior princess seems fits well with badass villlager female of Ishigami Village from Dr. Stone (not necessary Kohaku, but the prime example!)

Probably a real guy. Whether or not he's actually the son of God is, of course, unable to be proven.]

Stalking Darkness by Lynn Flewelling [finished! Another 10/10.]

Pine by Francine Toon [dropped - couldn't continue this one anymore, it's slow and filled with details that had nothing to do with the actual mystery or the characters themselves - I think other people might have appreciated it for the way it allowed you to visualise the setting so vividly, but to me it was just incredibly boring.]

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen [in progress, told myself I'd read more classics and thought I'd start with one I was supposed to read in high school.]

Spy x Family vol. 1 [finished! 10/10. Immediately bought the 10 volumes out on Amazon after reading this because I enjoyed it so much. Loid Forger is a goldmine of a male character, the kind that's easy to fall for and to root for. Anya is sweet and funny and interesting, and Yor is just the icing on the cake of their dynamic.]

Spy x Family vol. 2 [finished! 10/10 - my goodreads rating system is going to be SKEWED after reading this manga.]

Spy x Family vol. 3 [finished! 8/10 mostly because I didn't love Yor's brother at all.]

At the same time, there's hope! There's humans helping crabs cross roads, and bridges being built for animals who've used the same paths for hundreds and possibly thousands of years.]

Life In Colour with David Attenborough

Worst Roommate Ever EP 1-2: [the first episode one was WILD, especially because I had no idea this was a true crime when I clicked on it, and so did not expect it was going to involve several dead bodies buried in a little old lady's backyard. I do feel like this was such an intriguing case that I had a hard time finishing the second episode, since it feels so much more ... dull in comparison, as terrible as that is to say about murders.]

David Farrier's Mister Organ [I'm a long-time fan of David Farrier, but didn't get a chance to watch this for a while. This one is a dark, dark tale that has nothing to do with murders. It's all psychological. I'm always amazed with how well Farrier can explore the darkness of humans without turning to the usual things we think of when we think of 'bad' people. I'd also recommend reading this article - which I'll also read on my read articles list - after watching this documentary, just so you know how insidious Michael Organ truly is.]

Into The Deep: The Submarine Murder Case [I don't give the things I watch ratings, but if I did, this would be a 10/10 - it's a unique experience to be able to see footage of how the people close to a murderer react as they realise the kind of person their friend is.]

Outlander: A Life Well Lost (7x01)

We're back! It feels like it's been forever since this show was on the air, but I guess it was May 2022 when we last left off, in quite a dramatic fashion, with Claire arrested for a murder she didn't commit, and Jamie separated from her, desperate to save her before it's too late!

Cons:

To start, I do not like the new vocals on the intro. Mostly they were okay, but that weird breathy whisper thing at the very end fading into the episode title card, was just bizarre.

The voiceover is still a weakness of the show. A holdover from a concept that wanted to use Claire's first person POV from the books. There's one instance of it early on from Claire where she's talking about how she knows how long the Revolutionary War will stretch on, and it just felt like an unnecessary emphasis on something we could have gotten just from looking at her face as the other prisoners spoke of the hardships they were facing.

Brianna is still the weak link as an actor. I think I've realized that she's no good at anything but the extremes. She has a really infectious sweetness when she's playing super hyped and excited, and I've seen her do despair and pain very well too. But when she just needs to have a normal conversation with her husband, it sounds super stilted and I feel like I can basically see her reading the lines off a script. It's too bad, I really wish I liked her more. Book Brianna is going to reign supreme, I'm afraid.

I remember that in the book, the nature of Malva's wrongdoing was left a little more vague. We get the story here from Christie that she is in fact the daughter of his wife and his brother, that both Malva and her mother were witches and constantly doing wicked, evil things. The extent to which Tom is just being a violent misogynist is more vague in the books, I feel. This episode felt a bit too sympathetic to Tom's perspective, seemingly giving him a free pass on abusing his daughter because of her "wicked" ways. Which, from what I can tell, include things like "wanting to have sex" and "being terrified of her father finding out about her pregnancy with her own brother". I wish this episode had been a little less kind to Tom. I know he's about to do this incredibly brave and noble thing, but still.

Pros:

The strongest part of the Roger/Bree plot: Roger quoting Ali and getting recognized by Wendigo Donner! I don't think it happens quite like this in the book, but it's the same idea, someone else from the future recognizing a fellow traveler based on a reference to future pop culture. It happened with Geillis when Claire quoted JFK, I believe. I like the ambiguity here, the way Wendigo's presence with Brown's men makes Roger think about the nature of being a bystander. Brianna insists that Wendigo is culpable for Claire's horrible abuse at the hands of Brown and his men, because he stood by and did nothing. Roger points out that he found himself working for Bonnet when he first came through the stones, and was thus witness to his horrible actions, and was unable to do anything to stop him. When do we give people second chances? Does the fact that Wendigo is from the future create a bond between him and the other travelers? I'd certainly be curious and fascinated to find other time travelers if I were Bree and Roger!

The main plot can basically be broken down like this: Claire is a prisoner, but gets pulled onto the Governor's ship to help care for his pregnant wife. Tom Christie decides to turn himself in for the murder of his daughter Malva, out of love for Claire, and also responsibility for Malva's actions, and Claire thus gets to go free.

This is pretty book accurate, though it's a lot more fleshed out with detail in the novel from what I remember. Claire has to pose as a forger for a time on the ship, which is fun. I did think this all worked out very well. Jamie's intense focus on finding Claire is of course great, and I love Ian going to bat for his Auntie, doing everything he can to help protect her.

The comedic highlight for me is when Jamie and Claire are first reunited, and they fall into each other's arms on the ship, kissing passionately. The guard stands there awkwardly for a while and then says: "Excuse me, this is not permitted." It was really funny.

Also, gotta do a shoutout for our first mentions of Lord John of the season; Jamie uses John's name in order to get an audience with the governor and dodge suspicions of being a rebel, straddling a fine line. I love Jamie using Lord John's super intense and inappropriate crush on him in order to further his own ends, that's never not going to be funny to me. I hope we get to see John this season.

Probably the dramatic highlight for me was Jaime and Tom talking about what Tom was going to do for Claire. Jamie ultimately talks about the respect he has for Christie, the ways in which even through their disagreement, he wants to honor him. I think Tom is a bad person, or whatever, but I think Jamie is giving a man walking to his death, the last gift he knows how to give him. I love that Jamie has the capacity to be a jealous person, but when he knows that Tom is in love with Claire, he doesn't resent his love for her. He sees it as the great gift it is, given the circumstances.

So, yeah, there we are! I will say that this episode doesn't feel much like a season premiere, in the sense that it's clearly continuing on (and indeed wrapping up) a story that we spent all of last season on, but I think that's because of pandemic stuff, were they had to cut the last season short, and this one is almost like a "part two" of season six. I'm excited to see where we go from here; I've read all the books in this series, many of them more than once, but they're so long and so much happens, that often I'm only remembering the details once I see them play out on the screen!

arlo was born a witch with the powers of spirit raising, fire manipulation and tracking

she grew up in a wealthy guatemalan/puerto rican family, spending her childrood living across central and south america with her parents and her older brother, francisco

the ladrón family are a wealthy witch family with magic spanning centuries, but have focused on succeeding in human business - the family has built a business empire in finance and industry, but engage in white collar crime to ensure their legacy. they don't have much connection or interest in the magic community, but ensured that their children were adept with their magic in case it was needed.

arlo has loved art as long as she can remember and is a highly skilled forger of official documents and art. she used to love it for herself, but her father saw it as another opportunity to gain more power/influence so encouraged her to produce forgeries for his own ends.

at sixteen arlo fled from guatemala to the us with the aid of her brother, and lived in new york as a forger to get by before falling in with the selvi sisters

after the sisters headed to lunar cove she fell in love with john. he was in with some bad people and arlo joked that she would one day have to resurrect him since he couldn't stay out of trouble. this became on ongoing inside joke between them.

this became eerily true and john was killed and she resurrected him, leading to the death of francisco

john would leave her shortly after this, not wanting to deal with her grief, and stole a number of items from her in the process

arlo discovered that their relationship was a lie, john was using her, had been cheating on her and was trying to make connections with her father due to his power and influence.

when john left he stole a watch from arlo, with the intention of pawning it. this was francisco's watch that he had given esen as a parting gift when he sent her away. francisco used to wear the watch every day, and arlo had worn it every day since she left. even though it was a vintage watch and very valuable esen never considered selling it when she was struggling. john knew the significance of the watch and seemingly didn't care.

arlo sought out a vampire with the intention of turning herself into a vampire to kill john. she tracked him down with her magic and then proceeded to kill herself with john watching and cause her change into a vampire.

she then moved to lunar cove following the selvi sisters, trying to figure out what she would make out of her life

she refuses to be in a relationship due to what occurred with john, she doesn't trust romantic connection or love as she blames it for blinding her and making her kill her brother

though she wants to make friends and some kind of life she herself she keeps people at a bit of a distance, not trusting that she won't be blinded by her own emotions towards people, again

being raised in a very wealthy and detached family, she often can be rude or a bit short with people, but she is trying to be more approachable and nice

she is always down for a good time and will not say no to a night of drinks and trouble if asked

art is her passion™ and she spends a lot of her time at art in motion ensuring the displays are perfect, and seeking out new artists to display

her home is full of more art than furniture, and there are a number of forgeries she hangs for herself that look like they were plucked from the Louvre

her other passions include kickboxing and fine foods (eating them only - she is a horrible cook)
