So excited to have been part of Tel Aviv's march for the animals - the biggest in history! 30k people marching for animal rights. On a whim my friend and I reached out to James Aspey months ago and invited him - and he came! He even gave a speech! He brought the lovely Joey Carbstrong with him - was so much fun to meet them both 😍😍🌈

Imagine there’s something you see so differently than the world. You see dead bodies when you look at peoples plates, not just ‘food’. You see literal animal skin on people, not just shoes, wallets, bags and jackets. You go out to eat and you’re constantly looking for what food you can have; which ingredients don’t have body secretions. You walk around knowing that the people standing across from you at the station, on the street, at your office, in your home, are most likely contributing directly to this whether they realise it or not. You feel like you know this secret that seems so obvious and so clearly right and you feel like you’re screaming it out so loudly to everyone but no one can hear you. And then you go to VegFest. You walk around knowing that you can eat everything, that people share your ethics, that everyone gets you, that people understand where you’re coming from, they hear you. You never have to explain why or hear people’s excuses for why they continue to support so much pain and suffering. Anything they’re wearing has nothing to do with animals and the space you’re all sharing is free from cruelty, suffering and pain. And then not only that, but whilst you’re walking around this space, you see one of the people that you listened to. A person who was yelling out to you all those months ago and you heard them. You see someone who was such a driving force in you making the biggest and best change in your life. Thank you @jamesaspey and @vegfestuk for opening my eyes and providing such a comfortable space where no one has to explain themselves and everyone just gets it. Thank you for explaining that it’s actually more extreme to consume animal products then it is to avoid them. Thank you for sharing stories and inspiring so many just like me to make the change. I hope that everyone gets to experience the happiness and love and peace I’ve felt these last few days. And I hope if you’re reading this and you haven’t given veganism a second thought, that maybe you will now. #govegan #vegan #vegfestuk #vegfest #london #jamesaspey #jaxgoes #volunteer #weekend #festival #beautiful #best #days #positive #vibes #life #changing (at Olympia London)

Very well said @jamesaspey .. It is true that we don't NEED to consume animal products, they aren't essential for our health and wellbeing. We can survive and thrive on a plant based vegan lifestyle. Fact! The ONLY reason we consume animal products is because they 'taste nice' .... but honestly nothing tastes better than a clean conscience ! Breaks my heart when people don't make the connection. #govegan #vegan #jamesaspey #quote #healthy #heart #clean #conscience #plantbased #potd #love #animals #planet #health #activist #animalactivist #veganactivist #maketheconnection

Veganism is not some mundane diet choice. It is the difference between enslavement and freedom, between torture and peace, between death and life.

Desperate times call for desperate measures! Can you feel the turning tables? Veganism is not about animal rights, but about human wrongs. 🌱🌍 #totalanimalliberation #dairyisscary #veganpower #humaneslaughter #animlaliberation #govegan #vegan #whatthehealth #joeycarbstrong #yulindogmeatfestival #nathalieportman #marvel #avengers #veganfortheanimals #animalmarch #stopanimalabuse #baconiscruel #hamiscruel #choosecompassion #choosecrueltyfree #jamesaspey #lebanesevegans #beirut #lebanon 🐎🐈🐕🐂🐃🐏🐑🐘🦛🦏🐐🐪🐖🐀🦒🐇🐤🦃🐔🦆🐢🦎🐬🐋🐟🐊🦈🐙🦀🦞🦐🦑🐝🦍🦊🐺🐒🦁🐅🦌🦓🐼🐧🐻🐸 Repost @lebanesevegans

The Vegan Jew & the Pigs
Good afternoon, good people of the universe
Im feeling a bit somber at the moment after watching the amazing James Aspey’s current Instagram stories.
For those of you that don’t know James-- he’s an inspiring activist that has done extensive work on veganism in a very subtle “less-in-your-face” way than many other activists.
In a nut shell, he fell super sick and learned about the health benefits of vegetarianism. He initially changed his eating habits to improve his own physical condition-- not as a protest for the sake of the animals. Eventually he educated himself on the moral implications of consuming animal products and has devoted his life’s work to making the planet a better place. He’s a super fit/athletic/strong looking Australian dude that has tattooed his body for 25 consecutive hours as well as taken a 365 day-long vow of silence for the animals and the vegan movement.
Today I watched his Instagram stories and I was brought to tears. The footage features pigs stuffed in a truck outside of a slaughterhouse. The camera peaks through the truck’s metal bars revealing several scratched up and worn out pigs stacked one on top of another. I have my fair share of criticisms of social media but-- WOW-- you really get up close and personal with the eyes of these creatures waiting to be delivered to their slaughter. I felt as if I was making direct eye contact with one of the pigs. You can really see pain and suffering through their saddened, drooping eyes. Just as you could with an abused puppy...
The footage of the animals stopped there-- but James didn’t.
James explained that these animals were waiting to be welcomed into gas chambers.
Gas chambers.
That word is definitely a buzz word for me. I hate to make this predictable connection but it’s inevitable. I’m a cultural Jew with a deep connection to my Ashkenazi-American upbringing. I grew up hearing it closely associated with the Holocaust and the millions of people murdered during this era. I remember learning about the gas chambers as a kid and thinking, “HOW?”
How could you possibly put anyone in a cell and choke them to death? How can human beings be so cruel to one another? It’s strange to say but as a kid I remember imagining the bodies collected following a gassing.
James explains in these videos that they cram the pigs in a room that is then smoked with carbon dioxide to burn them alive from the inside out.
Today I asked myself the same questions that I asked when I learned about the gas chambers in school. How could you possibly put anyone in a cell and choke them to death? How can human beings be so cruel? I imagined the bodies collected following the gassings that occur worldwide on a daily basis...
I realize that I’m new to this world of plant-based living and veganism. These gas chambers are not news for a lot of people, vegans and non-vegans alike. I’m just starting to educate myself on these issues and it’s shocking how little I actually knew about the behind the scenes of these industries. In a way, I feel that I was denied an education on these topics in a number of different settings (of which I hope to have a post on this in the future!) It’s fucking terrifying that these details are mostly kept hidden from the public and I’m quite nervous to tread deeper...
But it’s also fucking exciting!
Learning about all these new foods that sprout from the earth is invigorating AF! One day I’m excited about some new glorious au natural vegan cheese burger free of preservatives and scary artificial shit. The next day I’m buggin out over some new spice combination, the variety of sprouts out there or the exquisite beauty of a lima bean. Discovering this way of living is thrilling and I’m excited to share more on my journey here!
Peace & Love 🙏

He is one of the people who have inspired me to do vegan activism. Thank you James Aspey for all you do and inspire.
