Like my father pt 2 {burb}
Sirius x Potter!Reader
An: Already writing part 3. This can also be read as a solo.
CW: Amos Diggory slander, not proof read, use of y/n, bad dates, just cheesy fluff,
Summary: Reader has a bad date and Sirius comes to the rescue
Wc: 2451
Part one Part three
âI genuinely can't believe you let her walk out that door with him.â James groaned from the love seat where Lily had found a perch in his lap.
It was just a few months after your graduation when you informed your family and co. that you were seeing someone. Someone four years older, Amos Diggory. James protested, Sirius protested, even your mother did. Didn't stop you from accepting his date invitation. Nor did it stop you from leaving to go out to eat with him either.
Lily rolled her eyes, gently nudging James with her elbow. âOh, come off it, James. Sheâs not a child anymore. She can handle herself.â
Sirius ran a hand through his hair, every part of him was tense, despite how he played it cool. âDrop it, mate.â
James sat up straighter, glaring at Sirius with indignation. âDrop it? Are you serious? Sheâs going out with a guy whoâs practically an adult! What if he tries something? You know how boys are at that age!â
âYeah, he's one of them.â Remus muttered and took a sip of his tea, earning a smack from Sirius.
âStop talking like she isn't old enough to make her own choices.â Sirius huffed, crossing his arms defensively. âShe was bound to start dating eventually.â
âSure, but that doesnât mean I canât worry! I mean.â James pointed at Sirius and then back at himself. âHe's older than us. I don't like it.â
âMaybe he is, but sheâs not going to be alone with him in a dark alley, James. Theyâre going to a restaurant,â Remus chimed in, giving an amused sigh. âLet her live a bit.â
âThis conversation isn't happening again.â Lily groaned as she stood up, grabbing James by his hand. âWe're going to bed.â
James looked up at Lily and squeezed her hand with an affectionate, hell, lovesick look. âYes ma'am.â
âWhipped.â Sirius huffed and Remus gave him a look.
âGoodnight all.â James waved before he pointed at Sirius with a glare. âYou're gonna lose her, mate. Get your shit together.â
Sirius flipped him off before he sunk back into his bed. Sighing threw his nose and sank into the couch.
âYou can't ignore it forever, Sirius.â Remus muttered and Sirius gave a scoff.
âOh, but I can. And I will. She trusts me, she likes me, she thinks I'm just the greatest. I'm okay with that.â Sirius sighed and Remus gave a huff.
âSirius, if she likes this guy-â
âThen I'll be happy for her.â He interrupted and ran his fingers a bit more purposefully through his hair. âShe'll find someone worth her time.â
âUgh. Is this how it felt talking to me?â Remus mumbled and Sirius rolled his eyes.
âI'm nothing, Remus. I don't have a damn thing to offer her. Not even my name means more than hers.â
Remus frowned. âThatâs not true, and you know it. Youâre a good guy, and you care about her. That counts for something. She wouldn't care about anything else.â
âYeah, but itâs not enough,â Sirius grumbled, his voice laced with frustration. âIâm just her brotherâs best friend. Some couch surfer her parents pitied. Iâm not what she needs. Not when she could have someone like Amos. Heâs got it all; looks, charm, and a future ahead of him. What do I have? A knack for getting into trouble and a penchant for living on the edge?â
âSirius,â Remus interjected firmly, leaning forward. âYou know she doesn't think like that. You haven't even given her the choice.â
âBut she so often picks the wrong one.â He groaned and Remus shook his head.
âJust think about it, mate. I'm going to bed, you coming?â
âNo I uhmâŠâ Sirius glanced at the window and bit his cheek. âThink ima stay up for her. You know, to lock up after her.â
Remus slowly smiled and nodded, dismissing himself.
~~~
Sirius was shocked awake by the sound of the house phone ringing. He hissed and rubbed his eyes, having fallen asleep on the couch.
He groaned, the muffled ringing echoing through the house as he squinted at the clock on the wall. It was well past nine, when you should have been home. Who in their right mind was calling this late? He internally nagged himself for not being awake to welcome you home.
Reluctantly, he pushed himself up from the couch, his body stiff from the awkward position he had been in. As he shuffled toward the kitchen, he could hear the phone ringing again, the sound almost piercing his ears. He reached the phone just as it stopped, but before he could breathe a sigh of relief, it started ringing again.
âUgh, bloody hell.â He muttered, picking up the receiver a bit more aggressively then needed. âPotter residence, what-â
âSirius? Is that you?â
At the sound of your voice he almost toppled over. âBambi? The hell? What are you still doing out?â
âUhm.. dinner ran a bit later than I thought.â You whispered and you began to ring your fingers through the cord. âWould it.. would it be too much to ask you to come pick me up?â
Sirius thought about what you were asking for a moment, you didn't exactly sound thrilled to be there.
Not that he had to think about his answer for too long.
âOf course, bambi. Just stay put, yeah?â
âOkay, Iâll be here.â You sounded relieved, and Sirius could picture you visibly relaxing on the other end of the line.
He hung up the phone and quickly grabbed his jacket from the back of the couch, his mind racing with questions.
Sirius slipped on his shoes and headed for the door, he paused and quickly grabbed a pair of your sneakers before hurrying out.
It wasn't long before he got to the restaurant. Walking at night wasn't Siriusâs idea of fun, but the idea of you sounding so nervous and scared, he didn't even realize how fast he was moving. Some fancy place he was sure you'd never be found dead in. Even with your familyâs status, you'd more often than not be found in diners.
He walked in, standing awkwardly at the waiting area. He peeked over the hostess stand, looking around the restraint curiously, only able to spot Amos sitting at a table alone. He furrowed his brow, before he felt a tug at his sleeve.
Turning around to see you, smiling up at him. The same smile you shot him when you headed out earlier tonight.
âHey, little bug, what's going on?â His entire demeanor turned soft, and your smile faltered just a moment.
âI just wanna go home.â You whispered softly and Sirius took a glance back at the table, able to see Diggory looking around curiously.
He nodded and wrapped his arm around your waist, escorting you out of the restaurant to the grand stairs that lead to the sidewalk. He pointed down to the last few steps. âSit.â
You huffed but did as you were told. Watching as he kneeled in front of you and took off your heels, replacing them with your sneakers.
You hugged yourself, the noodle strap dress doing very little to cut the cold. âThank you, SiriâŠâ
He sighed a bit at the nickname, standing up and taking your hand to help you up. âDid you call me all the way out here to ditch some boy?â
âMerlin, Siri, he's such a git.â You hissed and looped your arm around his. Clinging to what little warmth he gave off, as he began to lead you home.
Sirius raised an eyebrow, a mix of concern and curiosity flooding his thoughts. âWhat do you mean? What happened?â
You leaned into him a bit more, seeking comfort from the chill in the air and the whirlwind of emotions from the evening. Not used to the more casual treatment from men. Usually, being James Potterâs sister was a reminder enough for men to go above and beyond for your attention.
Given your brother was the boy who would dedicate his Quidditch Cup wins to his girlfriend or declare his love with obnoxious displays. Of course, {Y/N} Potter wouldn't entertain anything less. Seems Amos figured a pretty face was enough. âIt started off fine, but then he just⊠I donât know, he got too flirty and it felt really off. I thought I could handle it, but he just kept pushing. I felt uncomfortable, and I didn't want to make a scene.â
âFlirty how?â Sirius asked, keeping his voice low and steady, trying to gauge how serious the situation was. Debating on if it was worth running back in.
âHe kept talking about how pretty I looked and how lucky he was to be with me.â You explained, your voice barely above a whisper. âAt first, it was nice. I mean, you know I like being flattered.â
âWhat? No. I would have never guessed.â Sirius mocked and you hit his side with a huff.
âShut up!â You laughed lightly, but the tension in your voice betrayed your discomfort. âBut then he started getting too personal, asking if I was a good kisser and if I wanted to go back to his place after dinner. It just felt⊠wrong.â
Sirius felt a surge of anger course through him, and he tightened his grip on your arm as you walked together. âDid you tell him to back off?â
You nodded, looking down at your feet. âI did, but he just brushed it off and laughed. I didnât want to cause a scene, so I just made up an excuse about needing to call you. It was the only way I could get out of there.â
âGood thinking.â He praised, his voice softening. âYou did the right thing. You donât have to put up with that kind of behavior from anyone, no matter how charming they might seem.â
You looked up at him, slowly your bottom lip began to quiver and he gave a surprised and panicked look. Before his expression slowly turned soft. âOh, bambi.â
âI didn't like it.â You whispered, quickly lifting your free hand to dry your gathering tears. âIt was my first date and I hated it.â
âHey, hey.â He whispered and stopped walking. Lifting his hand to shoo away your own, using his thumb to dry your tears. âHey, none of that, it wasn't your fault.â
âHe was so gross.â You whined out and he tutted, pulling away as you took a shaky breath. âAnd his cologne smells awful.â
Sirius gave a startled chuckle and you slowly smiled up at him. âSmelt like a mix of cheap aftershave and desperation.â You added, a hint of laughter breaking through your earlier distress. He gave a louder laugh as he began to lead you back down the street.
âHow cruel of you.â He chuckled and you shook your head, giving a small sniff. âHow cruel of me? How cruel of him! I had to smell it all night, I'm the victim here.â
Sirius couldnât help but smile at your determination to find humor in the situation despite how upset you had been moments earlier. âYouâre absolutely right.â
You giggled, the sound warming Siriusâs heart. It was nice to see you lightening up, even if just a little. âI mean, really, if youâre going to wear something that strong, at least make sure it doesnât smell like it came from the bargain bin. My dad has better smelling cologne and he actually gets it from the bargain bin.â
He shook his head. âDo you even know cologne? Is that even on your radar?â
âWell, no but.. I like my dads. And yours.â You hummed and leaned in closer, taking a small whiff of him before you scrunched up your nose. âNot this one. The green bottle.â
Sirius raised an eyebrow, a playful smirk creeping onto his face. âThe one I wore at Hogwarts?â
You laughed, your tension easing. âDefinitely. It smells way better than what that git was wearing. Youâd have all the ladies swooning.â
âAh, but Iâm not trying to swoon anyone tonight.â He hummed, his tone suddenly more serious as he looked down at you. âIâm just focused on getting you home safe.â
You met his gaze, a mix of gratitude and warmth filling your chest. âI appreciate that, Sirius. It means a lot to me.â
âCourse. Next time you need a date, you just let me know, and Iâll screen them first,â Sirius offered, half-joking but also completely serious. âIâll make sure they meet the âSirius Standard.ââ
You laughed. âThe Sirius Standard? Oh please, I know how you treat your girls.â
âNot my girls. They aren't my girls.â He chuckled and you rolled your eyes.
âYou don't have girls anymore? You've changed, Black.â
âWho needs girls when I got you to look after? Too much work if you ask me.â He huffed and you slowly smiled, fiddling with the threads of his warn jacket.
You guys eased into a calm silence. It wasn't long until you were home, and he was lifting up his keys and kneeling down to take off your shoe. You gave a sleepy yawn, looking down as he stood infront of you.
He did a double take, noticing how you chewed your lip.
âWhat's on your mind, bambi?â
âJust.. boys. Is it weird, Siri? That I haven't dated yet?â
âWhat? Doll, is that why you went out with him?â
â... maybe. Just.. James got to me the other day. I haven't dated anyone, that can't be normal.â
He cooed and walked over to you, âIt's not, but it's special. You know what you want. That's a good thing.â
You looked up at him, your expression thoughtful. âYou really think so?â
âAbsolutely.â He affirmed confidently. âYouâre not going to settle for just anyone. Youâll wait for someone who makes you feel safe and happy. Thatâs way more important than just dating for the sake of it.â
You smiled softly. âThanks, Sirius. You always know how to make me feel better.â
âThat's my job, isn't it?â He grinned back at you, before lifting up his arms. âCome âer.â
You giggled and hurried over to him, slipping your arms around his waist and nuzzling your face into his chest. He wrapped his arms around you and held you close, giving you a tender kiss on your forehead.
âDon't go rushing into things, bams. You've got a lot of years to find someone.â He whispered against your hair and you absolutely melted into him. Not noticing as the stairs from the second floor creaked and James peaked down to look at Sirius. Giving him a smile and hurrying back upstairs.
âSiri?â
âYeah?â
âCan we watch a movie tonight?â
âIs it Grease?â
â... maybe.â
Hook with the daughter of Ariel or something like that. With them being in a secret little relationship but heâs always trying to come up to her and flirt with her. Maybe Uliana finds out and freaks out the rest is up to you
Secret | James Hook
Pairing: James Hook x fem!reader (Ariel's!sister!reader)
Summary: Once Uliana figures out your secret, everything comes crushing down.
Warning/s: angst, but with a happy ending, fluff, keeping secrets, fight, short fic, possible grammar and/or spelling mistakes
Author's note: It's here, hope you enjoy!! Also, I made the reader Ariel's sister because in my head, it fits the timeline.
Honestly, nobody had any idea how it happened. You were Ariel's sister. He was a pirate. How in the world did you manage to end up together?!
Well... truth to be told... it happened so suddenly, just like when the storm in the middle of the sea happens. Nobody really expects it, but it arrives it crashes you with its whole might. Leaving you breathless.
It was a normal, sunny day when you met him. You were walking down the corridor, just trying to get to Merlin's class. Clutching your book in your hands, you found yourself outside as you came face to face with Hook. In the middle of the courtyard. All alone. His back was turned to you, and with that finding, you felt the sigh of relief leave your body pass your lips. It doesn't matter, you thought to yourself. So you decided to keep walking. You did not want to be late to class.
But it seems like the luck wasn't on your side that day. He turned around and walked up to you as he yelled out.
"Ahoy there, mermaid!" He smirked as your eyes met. "Skipping class again, I see. What's your excuse this time? Lost your voice singing to the fishes?"
James Hook, now leaning against a stone pillar, hook on his right hand and a mischievous glint in his eyes as his eyes scanned you.
"Hook, I unline you, am actually trying to now get there in time." You rolled your eyes at his teasing but decided that maybe it was time for you to finally tease him back a bit. "But don't worry, I've got a treasure map to Merlin's class. Care to actually join me?"
You saw a little tint of blush forming on his face, but you must have imagined it. And just as you thought that this would be the end of your conversation, he did something that left you stunned.
"Merlin's class? That's the real curse of Neverland. But I'd follow you anywhere, little mermaid." He gave you a wink, smirking.
You found yourself blushing, but no... it... it can't be. Luckily, you quickly regained your composure and continued your, playful, rivalry banter.
"You know, pirate, I've heard rumors about your hook. Is it true you lost it in a duel with a giant squid?" You leaned over closer to him.
"Aye, but it wasn't just any squidâit was the one that stole my heart." He smirked as he leaned down, closer to your face. "But now, here I am, a one-handed pirate with a penchant for trouble and a weakness for mermaid smiles."
You found yourself laughing at his flirting. You couldn't help it, it was just so... so endearing.
"Well, Captain, I've got a secret too." You said, with a little smirk planted on your face. "I've hidden my voice in a shell. Only the right kiss can unlock it. Interested?"
And so you did that for a while until you two were actually late for Merlin's class. You walked in, and Hook did not. But there was no way that you would admit to anyone, even your friends, why you walked into the class flushed, cheeks pink, with a stupid smile on your face.
You do, of course, realize that this was a bit abnormal. He was a pirate and part of Uliana's crew. You were a mermaid princess, daughter of the Triton himself. It was not normal, but as the days passed and what was a true rivalry, banter turned into just pure flirting, you found yourself not really caring.
As weeks passed and the flirting continued, somehow, you found yourself having a pirate boyfriend. After all of that, Hook and you started dating. Somehow.
And it was better than you ever expected it to be. You sometimes felt like, outside of Uliana's crew, you were the only one that he was nice to. It was... perplexing. But you loved it.
However, you both agreed that you should keep your relationship a secret for a while for both of your sakes. You weren't dumb. You both knew how your friends would react if you told them that you were dating. So that's how it all started. Secret stolen glances when nobody was looking, passing notes in class, stolen kisses when you were all alone, and, of course, flirty teasing banter.
That's how you found yourself, pressed against a tree in the school's courtyard, Hook with his hand by your head, his hook under your chin, trapping you.
"You're a siren in a landlocked school." He spoke, looking into your eyes. "Your voice could raise sunken ships, and your smileâwell, that's my undoing."
"Tell me, Hook, do you ever dream of flying?" You asked as you started to trace your finger along his hook. "Not in a ship, but with wings made of stardust?"
He looked at you, captivated.
"Every night, my dear. And in my dreams, you're the compass guiding me through constellations." He leaned down towards you, your lips almost meating until something happened. Something that would change this forever.
"Hook!!" The terrifyingly hight and mighty voice rang out along the school courtyard.
You both turned around and froze as you came face to face with Uliana, Hades, Maleficent and a few more people that joined the courtyard when they heard yelling.
"But reality has a way of clipping my wings." Hook sighed as he moved away from you slowly, your heart speading up and breaking at the same time.
"Are you out of your mind?!" Uliana screamed. "What are you doing with a mermaid?!"
That's when you noticed something. Yes, Hook moved away from you, but his hand with his hook that was under your chin was now placed on your waist, still holding you close to him.
"Calm down, Uliana." Hook spoke up, looking at him.
"Calm down?!" Uliana yelled, absolutely fuming. "Are you seriously telling me to calm down right now?!"
"Yes." Hook said, "Yes, I am."
"Don't play games with me, Hook." She threatened before throwing a glance your way, smirking as she plotted against you. "If you don't stop doing whatever you're doing with this one, you will no longer be a part of my crew."
A moment of science was heard around the courtyard, and you know that it was over. He couldn't give up on his crew, and you most certainly did not want him to, so that means that your relationship has reached its inevitable end. Your heart was breaking as you looked on the ground, slowly moving away from Hook.
"You won't do that." He spoke up, his voice strong, ringing out. "We won't end our relationship." He turned to you and brought you closer to him once again, smiling at you before turning to Uliana with a determined look.
"You know that you need me whether you liked it or not. So, no, you won't throw me away from the rest of the crew. And even if you do, it doesn't matter. I still have her, and that is something that nothing will be able to change." He spoke as her face was formed into pure shock.
"So good day." He sarcastically bowed before he ruined around with you and walked away.
"Don't worry, she'll come around." You looked at him. "Maybe..."
"I honestly don't really care." He shrugged, his eyes ringing with truth. "I have you now, little mermaid, that's all I need and so much more, really."
I have been summoned by the Poly!Wolfstar notification!!!!
Iâm always a goner for brotherâs best friend trope and this time itâs best friends so literally double the fun âșïž This is just so soft and adorable pls youâre spoiling us, queen!
Part 2 where they tell Jamie and he actually already knew? Cause the joke is always James can be oblivious most of the time, but they donât know it doesnât apply to his sister so he already knew, most likely even before she knew herself cause heâs a sweet brother like that.
*sigh* I want a big brother
Love you queen! đ
hahaha awe you're so right babes. it's really funny because I have this request and then the exact opposite version of this request - so it will be fun to write the other one too! it'll take me a lot longer though, angst always does.
part one here - but can be read as a stand alone
poly!wolfstar x potter!reader - you & the boys tell James
âYouâre going to wear a hole in the rug there, dolly.â Sirius drawled in faux nonchalance as the two of you waited in the boysâ dorm room for Remus to return with James.
You were going to do it. Today. You were going to tell your brother you were dating his two best friends.
No big deal, right?
Except it was a big deal and you were absolutely losing your bloody mind.
And then your boyfriend had the audacity to be sitting on his bed, leaning against the headboard, casually telling you to relax like he wasnât also shaking in his boots Doc Martenâs.Â
Remus had volunteered to be the one to retrieve James for the lot of you. Mostly because you would have likely broken down in a mental state if it had been you, and Sirius likely would have blurted it out on his way up the stairs.
The door clicked and you could hear the quiet mumbling of your boyfriend and the much louder mumbling of your brother as the two entered the room. Based on the smiles on their faces, particularly Jamesâ who eyes crinkled in delight, they were talking about something funny.
âOh! Hey bug.â James called to you, seeming surprised you were here but not perturbed. âHey Pads; Moony said you guys wanted to talk?â
Remus stayed standing near the door and you paused in your nervous pacing whilst Sirius scooted to the end of his bed, elbows on his knees and feet resting on his school trunk.
James didnât look at all disturbed or uncomfortable. In fact, he looked completely at ease, here in the room with three of his favourite people in the whole world. Remus, the person who he goes to when he needs to feel grounded. Sirius, his best friend and partner in crime. And you, his twin sister and other half.
What were you doing here?
Maybe this was a mistake. Maybe you shouldnât tell him. This could ruin him; this had the potential to ruin three of Jamesâ most precious relationships. How could you have been so selfish? He didnât need to know, the least the three of you could do is keep this to yourself. Abort, abort, abort.
âSo?â James asked, looking around at everyone with a raised eyebrow. âAre you finally going to tell me the three of you are dating?â
You were sure your heart stopped. Remus blew out an exasperated laugh and Sirius choked on air.Â
âYou knew!?â Sirius screeched.
James smirked and shrugged his shoulders. âYeah?â
âHow?â You whispered.
Jamesâ face softened significantly when he took in your face that was drained of all colour. âWell, Pads here is about as subtle as an erumpent. Moony has been mooning over you since like third year. And Iâd have to be blind â do not joke about my eyesight â not to notice the way you look at them.â He offered simply.
âSo, youâve known all this time and just let us tiptoe around?â Sirius asked, sounding a little miffed â at his friend for allowing him to make a fool of himself, or at his apparent lack of discrepancy, you werenât sure.
âI figured you guys would tell me when you were ready.â James said simply again.
âAre you mad?â Remus asked quietly, pointedly looking at you ask he asked. He knew this was your biggest fear, the potential fallout. You werenât sure what youâd do if James refused to accept your relationship with Remus and Sirius. You couldnât bear the thought of breaking up their friend group; three people would lose if that was the case, but it would only hurt you if you were the one to step away.Â
âNo.â James said as he moved his head back and forth slightly. âI guess I was hurt you didn't tell me, but I could also understand why you didnât. But no, Iâm not mad.â
You blew out a breath at that, but it came out incredibly shaky. Unfortunately for you, no one in the room missed it.
âAwe bug. Iâm sorry.â James said as he stood and offered his open arms to you. You took him up on his offer and accepted his hug, leaning your head onto his shoulder.
âIâm sorry, Jamie.â
âDonât be, yeah? Iâm happy for you, really.â He assured, rubbing roughly on your back.Â
âYeah?â You asked as you pulled back to look at him. You couldnât see any contradictions on his face, only love.
ââCourse. Youâre the best, and I want the best for you.â He shook your shoulders a little, smiling like âdid you seriously think otherwise?â
âAre they good to you?â He whispered, and though you knew your werewolf boyfriend and your canine animagus boyfriend could both likely hear the conversation, they allowed this moment to be yours and Jamesâ alone.
âSo good, Jamie. Promise.â You said, feeling tears prick at your eyes.Â
âYouâll tell me if theyâre not?â
You scoffed and rolled your eyes, but James wouldnât let you pull away as you wont to do. âI wouldnât involve you in it, James. They were your friends first; Iâm not going to come between you.â
Jamesâ brows furrowed a little as he seemed to ponder your words. âPerhaps...but you were my sister first. If anything, theyâd be coming between us.â
You opted to smile at your brother and pinch his side like you knew he hated. âNever. Thatâs impossible.â
At that he finally let you go, returning your smile ten-fold. âThatâs what Iâve been trying to say! So? Are we good?â He asked, turning to the rest of the room.
Remus had a proud and slightly emotional smile on his face while Sirius just stared between the two of you, eyes narrowed and eyebrows furrowed.Â
âIâm sorry. What just happened?â He finally spat.
Remus groaned and rubbed a hand over his face. âSirius, please. This went about as well as we could have hoped.â
Jamesâ head popped up at that. âOh! Sorry, did I make that too easy on you all?â
Sirius let out a scoff that sounded like âuhm, duh?â
âI could make it harder on you?â James offered.
âPlease do.â Sirius said eagerly, causing you and Remus to groan in sync.Â
James offered a quick âokayâ and cleared his throat, allowing silence to settle throughout the room as he picked up a stray book off his school trunk.Â
Suddenly, he threw the book onto the ground, creating a booming thump. âMY SISTER!? ARE YOU KIDDING? YOUâRE DATING MY SISTER!?â
âJAMES PLEASE, JUST HEAR US OUT!â Sirius shouted back just as passionately.Â
James scoffed in derision. âHEAR YOU OUT? HEAR YOU OUT. I THINK IâVE HEARD ENOUGH!â
âYOU CANâT KEEP US APART!âÂ
âI CAN AND I WILL. HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME!? I THOUGHT THIS FRIENDSHIP MEANT SOMETHING TO YOU.â
âIT MEANS EVERYTHING TO ME!â Sirius called back, dropping to his knees on the floor in front of James.Â
You shared a look with Remus as the theatrics continued, knowing this could go on for hours.
âShould we leave them to their drama?â Remus asked you.
âPlease.â You nearly begged, taking his hand and exiting the dorm, catching one last sentence before the door clicked shut behind you.
âIâM IN LOVE WITH HER, JAMES!â
âI DONâT CA- wait are you really? That's so cute!â
Requested by: @jessiegerl
Pairing: Sirius Black x reader
Warnings: Readers parents hate her and well we all know how Sirius's Parents are.
w/c: 2.8k+
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~<3
Sirius Black was not used to affection.
It was foreign to him. He never received praise, compliments, or anything positive. Ever.
So when the acquaintances heâd made on the hogwartâs express clapped him on the back after getting into Gryffindor, he didnât know how to react other than to flinch.
And when you, introduced as Jamesâs honorary sister, sat down that night, youâd complimented his hair.
Youâd said âI like your long hair. It suits you.â
His parents hated that hairstyle.Â
Heâd kept it purely as an act of rebellion. However, now, now he seemed to like it just a bit more. He hadnât said thank you. Because he hadnât known he was supposed to. So heâd just nodded, and youâd grinned.
That grin changed everything. You changed everything.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
âWhat if we make polyjuice potion, and I disguise myself as Narcissa, lead Lucius on for a bit and then prank him?â you asked, playing with the quill in your hands.Â
Remus groaned, âWeâre still on this?â he asked, throwing his head back in disbelief.
âN/n, Remmy is right, we pranked Lucius only the day before yesterday,â Sirius nodded. You raised an eyebrow at him knowing he was never one to back down from a prank on any Slytherin.
And you were right. He wanted to do it. But if that meant Lucius got a chance to be near you even in a slightly romantic way, he would hurl.
And possibly punch him.
âOh câmonnn Siri,â you whined, putting on your best pleading face and puppy eyes.
Damn those puppy eyes.
Sirius just shook his head, ignoring the way his heart was racing at your look. He watched as you pouted, leaning back on to the couch, head resting on Jamesâs shoulder. âJames, help me out here,â you said, folding your arms as you waited expectantly.
But James was too busy staring at a certain redhead and you, still staring at Sirius, nudged James in the chest.
âHuh? What?â
Sirius burst out laughing at the way your face twisted in pure irritation, the other two boys joining in as you hit James repeatedly with a pillow.
âOw ow! Iâm sorry, I'm sorry!â James laughed as you continued your assault fighting the grin that was creeping up on your face.
âFuck you Potter!â you laughed, as James tried to correct his hair, you stopping him and messing it up further.
Sirius watched the exchange between you both, a sick feeling crawling up his chest. He knew that you both were no more than honorary siblings and it would always be that way, but deep down he wished you were sitting next to him, doing all that silly stuff with him.
He immediately brushed it off, not one to allow feelings to linger for long, replacing his hardened stare with a smirk instead, watching you and James continue to fight like kids, admiring the bright smile on your face.
He wished that that smile would never go away.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
âBlack, if you could be any animal in the world which was not a dog, which by the way I still donât understand why thatâs your favorite animal, which would you choose?â you asked, mindlessly hooking your hand with his as you both walked to class in 4th year.
He ignored the burst of feelings that erupted in him, trying to focus on your question and not on the way your hand felt against his, clinging on as you pranced lightly. âUhh, I donât knowâ he muttered, his brain fogging up as he refrained himself from staring at your linked hands. You hummed, breaking away from him as James and Remus came into view outside the class.
He paused for a few seconds trying to calm down his erratic heart before shaking his head and entering the class.Â
You waved him down, patting the seat next you, and the second he sat down, you grabbed his arm, sticking your tongue out at a slytherin girl eyeing you both with pure jealousy written all over her face.
Sirius laughed, âWhatâs that all about?â
âShe likes you,â you pouted, âand asked me, ME to set you both up!â you pointed to yourself in disbelief.
âShe looks cute,â Sirius said, winking at the girl.Â
You gasped at the way the girl blushed in response. âSheâs a slytherin!â you exclaimed, swatting his shoulder.Â
Sirius shrugged, âGood point, guess Iâll have to find someone else then.â
âNo way! Youâre mineâ you said seriously, jabbing a finger at his chest.Â
His heart erupted, eyes widening. But he played it off quickly, leaning over to whisper in your ear. âYou wish sweetheart.âÂ
Your face turned pink, eyes widening. Luckily the professor walked in, not allowing Sirius to dwell on your reaction.
Merlin, he was done for.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You were always a naturally happy person. The boys had never seen you cry, even though theyâd all had their breakdown moments. Youâd been their rock through everything.Â
However, when 5th year started, youâd changed. You opted out of pranks, studying almost all the time and the usual spark in your eyes had faded. James seemed to know what had happened but he refused to let the others know, telling them it was up to you to reveal it to them.Â
He was worried about you, Sirius could tell, and that made the long-haired boy worry even more.Â
Heâd tried to get you to talk to him, but youâd refused.
Until one day youâd shown up to Charms, puffy-eyed and asked Sirius to meet you in the Astronomy tower after his classes were done for the day.Â
Heâd waited anxiously, and as soon as his classes finished, he ran to find you.
You were standing right where youâd said youâd be, gazing up at the sky. You turned when you saw him, a small smile forming on your lips. But the boy noticed the way it seemed to require so much effort from you, which was never the case before.
You turned away again, wordlessly staring at the sky. He wanted to demand an explanation, no longer able to watch you like this.
âY/N-â
âIâve never stopped to think,â you started softly, still staring above. Sirius stepped closer to you, waiting patiently for you to continue.
You took a deep breath before turning to face him.Â
âIâve never let myself stop doing things or take a break because then all the thoughts flood the gates and I feel like Iâm going to drown. But-â your eyes glazed over as you took a shuddering breath, looking down at your feet.
Sirius grabbed your shaking hands with one of his own, using the other to lift your chin up so that you could look at him.Â
âIâm listening,â he whispered.
You bit down on your lip before starting again, âBut this summer was bad Siri- they- they said the worst things and-â you couldnât finish as a sob wracked through your body.Â
Sirius pulled you to him, wrapping an arm around your shoulders and another lightly around your head as if trying to shield you.
He knew about the situation with your parents. They were almost never at home, and whenever they were, they made it very clear that they hadnât wanted children in the first place. Thatâs why you spent most of your time at the Potterâs.Â
Itâs also why you understood his situation so well.
You pulled away, wiping your tears away as you looked at Sirius. âEuphemia says she wonât let me go back this time even if they ask,â you laughed slightly remembering the possessiveness that had come over the older Potter.Â
Sirius smiled, âGood.â
âThanks Siri,â you nodded, and Sirius beamed at the real smile that made its way to your face.Â
âAnytime princess. But donât get too comfortable, other girls will get jealous.â
You gasped, playfully punching him on his shoulder, âI better be your one and only Black!â you laughed, and he joined in, hiding the way that sentence struck his heart.
Little did you know.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Sirius found himself knocking on the door of the Potterâs house, he didnât expect for you to open it.
Shit. Heâd forgotten you stayed there now.
But he couldnât back away. He didnât have the energy, nor did he think you would let him, at the way you gasped in horror as you looked at him.
He mustered all his strength into a cheeky âHiâ before James appeared behind you, giving the same reaction you had seconds before. You stood there in shock, hands over your mouth and eyes watering at the sight of the boy in front of you.
Sirius gave up on trying to fake it, giving in as you and James pulled him inside the house.Â
âJames, get your mom,â you ordered. The boy hesitated as you guided Sirius to the sofa, before you turned and glared at him and he ran off.Â
Your eyes scanned the boy, a sort of resolve taking you over as you kneeled down in front of him. Sirius was fighting to keep consciousness and he didnât know how much longer he could hold it for.
âSirius,â you called gently, placing a hand on his knee, slowly and carefully. âWhat happened?â you asked.Â
Sirius didnât want to relive what his mother had done to him, trying desperately to push it all away, trying to drown himself in your presence. But he knew youâd need an explanation if you were to help him get rid of the immense pain he was feeling right now.
âCruciatus,â he whispered, noticing the horror and anger that made its way to your face, but also noticing the way the gentleness of your touch hadnât changed.
âCanât go back. Ever.â he muttered, and you were quick to adjust yourself so that he could look you in the eyes. âYou wonât ever be going back. Even if Euphemia canât keep us all here, you and I will find another place. But Black,â you placed a careful hand on his cheek and he leaned into it, âYou are never. Ever. Going back there.â The seriousness in your voice gave Sirius enough strength to whisper a âThank youâ before partially fading out of consciousness again, comforted by the fact that you were here, and for once in his life feeling that things would be okay.
He could vaguely make out Euphemia and Fleamontâs reaction to seeing him nearly passed out on the couch, and your hurried explanation of whatever youâd understood from what heâd said. Euphemia walked up to him moments later with a some medicine in hand, something about opening his mouth, gulping, and about helping him sleep and doctors and the next day at sunrise. He couldnât process it, just doing what he was told.Â
James and you then carefully lifted him, carrying him to a room and gently placing him on a bed.Â
He could hear you and James both talking in hushed whispers, but he was unable to make out what you were saying, as he fell into a disturbed sleep.
He woke up in the middle of night once, sweating and terrified, haunted by what heâd seen in his nightmare. But before he could properly react and realize where he was, you got up from beside him.Â
He couldnât breathe, and tears were streaming down his face. He could see you move to sit in front of him and your lips moving but he couldnât make out what you were saying.Â
You then gently placed your hands on his face and surprisingly it helped.Â
It grounded him, reminded him that he was with you and not with his monstrous parents.
Your voice started to fade back in and he could hear you telling him to breathe, and so he did, thankful that you were there to help him.
Of all the Marauders, he felt the safest with you.Â
âIâm okay,â he whispered once his breathing was back in his control. You nodded, sighing softly.
âThank you,â he muttered, looking up at your tired eyes, âand Iâm sorry I woke you up.â
âItâs fine,â you shrugged, âI hadn't slept. I was too worried.â You said, moving to sit against the headboard of the bed.
âSorry for that then,â Sirius said lying back down.Â
You stared at him for a few minutes before running a hand through his hair, massaging his scalp softly.
âItâs not your fault Sirius, donât apologize.â
Sirius didnât respond, trying to focus on you, and on where he was, rather than the memories that were flooding his brain.
You laid down next to him, and Sirius realized that he was infact in your room, and as he turned to apologize once again, you placed a finger on his lips.
âIf you apologize for intruding or something like that again, I will make you sleep on the couch.â you threatened your voice laced with humor.
Sirius smiled at you slightly, and you pulled him close to you, allowing him to tuck his face under your chin as you wrapped your hands and legs around him. He was glad you did so, it made him feel safe, and as if youâd heard his thoughts, you whispered into his ear âYouâre safe with me Black. Youâre mine, and Iâll keep you safeâ
He wished he really was yours.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sirius couldnât find you anywhere. And what worried him more was that he couldnât find Frank anywhere either.Â
Why did that matter?
Well as you and Sirius had gotten closer and flirtier, you and Frank had gotten closer too. After the fiasco that took place over the summer, youâd spent more time with the boys in their dorm room and naturally that meant you were hanging out with their roommate Frank Longbottom as well.Â
And now Sirius was worried that youâd thought his flirting was just him being Sirius and that he had no actual feelings for you.
If you really did think that and if youâd decided to hang out with Frank instead, Sirius had no idea what he would do.Â
Heâd searched every nook and corner of Hogwarts and now the only other place he could think of was Hogsmeade.Â
Oh Merlin he hoped it wasnât Hogsmeade.
Sirius snuck out of the school during study hours, making his way to Hogsmeade, anxiety filling him.
As he made his way through hogsmeade, his heart dropped when he saw your familiar figure next to Frankâs.Â
Your head was thrown back in laughter, and Frank was grinning. âYou did great! Iâm sure next time will be just as smooth,â you said, patting him on the shoulder.
Next time?
Fear creeped up on Sirius.
He couldnât lose you to Frank.Â
He couldnât lose you to anyone.
He ran up to you and Frank, seeing both of your faces twist in confusion.
âSirius?â
âYou canât date him!â Sirius exclaimed, pointing to Frank.Â
âWhat?â you and Frank both said at once, before realization crossed your features and a small smile formed on your lips.Â
But Sirius was too anxious and worried to register it, only glaring at Frank.
âFrank, what about you go back, and Iâll figure out what Sirius wants,â Frank nodded at your suggestion and walked off, patting Sirius on the back once.
âWhy canât I date Frank?â you asked, looking at Sirius who was still glaring at the boy whoâd just walked away.
He spun around to look at you, surprise all over his face. Anyone could see you struggling to hide your smile and maintain a serious expression on your face, but Sirius was blinded.
âBecause- âCause-â Sirius faltered, what he was about to do, dawning on him. He hadnât wanted to confess to you like this.
âBecause?â you asked, raising an eyebrow and crossing your arms in front of your chest.
âBecause I like you,â he rushed out, scared he would think twice and miss this chance. And the slight tinge of pink in your cheeks gave him confidence.Â
âActually no, I donât like you, I love you. Iâm head over heels for you and I cannot imagine not being with you, at all. I want - no need you to be mineâ
You grinned, âBlack finally confesses! And you really think I would have gone out with Frank when I have feelings for you? He wanted me to help him get ready for the actual date heâs taking Alice on, since sheâs my close friend.âÂ
Sirius heard nothing except - âYou have feelings for me?â
You laughed, linking your hand with his, âI thought it was obvious!â
He turned you around, looking at you, âYou really like me?â
You shook your head, laughing lightly, before leaning up to place your lips against his.
His hand moved to your waist, pulling you in, as your hands wrapped around his neck, fingers entangling in his hair.
You both pulled away a few moments later, gasping for air.Â
âIâve been yours since the first day I saw you,â you whispered, eyes locked on his.
âI love you,â he whispered.
âI love you too. But I think I love your hair more.â
What Was I Made For? - James Potter
A/N:Â well, it looks like this keeps on working so... I hope you guys like it!
Anonymous asked: Request for hufflepuff black!reader x James with the prompt "Forget it. Just like you forget everything else." Where reader has never had a fun birthday celebration and usually ignores her birthday but James promises to do something fun for her and gets her hopes up but then stands her up accidentally (with happy ending please). Thanks so much <;33
Warnings: this is super angsty! (and super long) but it has a happy ending; mentions of abuse and overall a not happy family life, reader feels weird for not really knowing how to express her feelings; let me know if I missed anything
Disclaimer: I donât own Harry Potter :) gif isnât mine :DÂ Â
What Was I Made For?
Think I forgot how to be happy Something I'm not, but something I can be Something I wait for, something I'm made for
12:08 a.m. Your birthday was over. And he didnât come. Of course, he wouldnât come. You kept looking at your watch feeling a tiny bit of hope that he would come running any second, apologizing for being late. But, deep down, you knew it wasnât going to happen. You sighed, running a hand through your hair, and decided to finally leave. You were angry. But not at him. At yourself. You should have known better. You never should have trusted a word he said. Because he treated you as if you were the center of his universe. And you were stupid enough to believe him. Because thatâs what James Potter did. He made you feel as if you were the only thing that mattered to him. Damn him and his stupid beautiful smile. The one that got you into this messâŠ
âYou actually want me to believe that you need my help in Potions?â you insisted as he raised his hands in surrender while you pointed your wand at him. âWhy are you asking me?â
âB-because youâre top of our class-â
âThatâs not true. Severus Snape isâ you insisted.
âFirst of all, I would never ask Snivelly for helpâ he rolled his eyes. âAnd secondly, I doubt thatâs true since you are a year younger than us and are already taking Advance Potions-â
âSo ask Lilly Evans then-?â
âEvans hates me-â
âSo do I!â
âWait, y-you do?â he asked, confused, stepping away from your wand. He sounded genuinely hurt.
âIâŠâ you werenât able to continue. You never really hated James Potter. You hated him because you were supposed to, werenât you? âD-donât you?â
âI donât hate youâ he informed you. âWhy would I?â
âBecause Sirius does! And youâre his best friendâ you told him. James noticed the hurt in your voice and in your look. He knew you missed Sirius.
âYour brother doesnât hate youâ he insisted and you scoffed, looking away and lowering your wand. âHe doesnât!â
âLook, Potter, you donât have to lie, okay?â you glared at him a little. âIsnât your father a famous potioneer? Shouldnât you be good at Potions?â
âYeah, he is⊠you gotta love the irony, loveâ he smirked.
âDonât call me that!â you glared at him. âWhat if Sirius finds out?â
âHe wonâtâ he assured you. âAnd I honestly donât think he would mind if he doesâ he tried.
âWhatâs in it for me?â
âIsnât the loveliness of my company enough, love?â he asked but he saw you raising your wand at him and he put up his hands in surrender. âFine⊠what do you want?â
You thought about it for a moment. Nobody had ever asked you what you wanted. Not really. You were always just told what to do. And then, you thought of the one thing you had always wanted but could never do.
âUm⊠if I tell you⊠do you promise not to tell anyone? Or um⊠laugh at me?â you said, feeling your cheeks burn as you looked down. James had to admit, he had never seen you like this. You always looked so confident, like everyone else in the Black family.
âI promiseâ he said, making you sigh.
âW-would you teach me um⊠how to uh- f-fly?â you asked in a small voice, James wasnât sure if he heard you correctly.
âUm⊠didnât you learn how to fly in your first year?â he asked, confused.
âLook, itâs a long story. Are you in or not?â you asked, going back to your usual self and James let out a small chuckle.
âFine. Itâs a deal. You teach me Potions, I teach you to flyâ he said, putting his hand so you would shake it. Which you did, pulling him closer.
âAnd Sirius is not to find about this, is that clear?â
âPerfect.â
And thatâs what it was. Perfect. For the following months, you and James spent a lot of time together. In the beginning, you found him incredibly obnoxious since he kept trying to become your friend. Which he quickly managed. You let your guard down and found yourself actually liking his company. And then, it grew into more. You never thought it could happen, but it did. He had somehow become your favorite person. Granted, not many people talked to you so, it wasnât hard. But if there was a word you would use to describe James Potter was, enchanting. And you quickly fell for him. And you hated it. Because now, here you were. Tired, hungry, alone, and upset. You made your way to the Kitchens, hoping that you could at least get some leftovers from the Elves.
âMiss Blackâ one of them greeted you happily. âWe thought you werenât going to make itâ he said, making you frown in confusion.
âM-make it? What do you mean, Blim?â you asked, confused as two other elves carried a basket your way.
âMr. Potter asked us to save this for him but he never cameâ he explained, confused. âSaid it was really important for Miss Blackâs birthdayâ he instructed as they handed you the basket. You felt yourself smiling a little but quickly wiped it away. He never came.
âThank you so much, Blimâ you told him.
âYouâre welcome. Happy birthday, Miss Blackâ he said, as they waved you goodbye. You thanked them happily, after all, they were the only ones that had wished you a happy birthday, and then you made your way to your dorm.
âHi, Opheliaâ you greeted your beautiful black cat.
At least she showed up for your birthday. You changed into your pajamas, played some of your favorite music on your record player, and sat on the small seat you had created against your window to go through the picnic basket only to find your favorite food. Heâd remember. Everything was perfect, even the cake. Except, he hadnât been there. He promised he would and you believed him. You knew Gryffindor played today. You knew they won. But he promised. And you believed him.
But again, it was your fault, really. You should have never let him in. You should have never told him what your favorite food was. Or why you didnât know how to fly. Or that nobody in your house wanted to share a dorm with you anymore. You shouldnât even have told him that today was your birthday. Well, yesterday. Because you now understood what he felt for you. It was pity. It wasnât love.
âAlright, are you ready?â he asked, holding up the broom.
âActually⊠Iâm having second thoughts about this. I donât want to do itâ you said, nervously.
âCome on, love. I promise youâre gonna love itâ he insisted.
You had grown accustomed to him calling you love by now. No matter how much you begged him, he wouldnât stop. And no matter how much you tried to deny it, you were starting to like it.
âB-but what if I fall?â you asked, making him smile at you adorably and grabbing your hand.
âI promise I would never let that happenâ he said sincerely. âBut⊠we donât have to do this today if you donât want toâ he assured you.
âNo, itâs okayâ you said, unconvincingly. âI just⊠need a minuteâ you told him, sitting down on the grass of the Quidditch pitch.
âLook, I know youâve told me not to ask why you didnât learn to fly sooner soâŠâ he said, sitting down next to you. âMay I ask why you want to learn now? Why is it so important to you?â
âI donât knowâ you said, quietly as you started playing with the grass next to you. âMy mother has told me not to my whole lifeâ you informed him. âShe always said it wasnât for ladiesâ you said, bitterly. âOn my first year, she sent an owl saying that she may not be able to control which house her disappointing daughter was sorted into but I was not to ride a broom, and well⊠you know nobody wants to go against Walburga Blackâ you said with a sad chuckle. âI always wanted to learn because Siri and Reggie- um⊠Sirius and Regulus both know how to and they love itâ you continued. âI guess I wanted to have something in common with themâ you smiled sadly. âAre you⊠are you crying?â
âIâm sorryâ he said, wiping away the few tears on his cheeks. âThat was just⊠um, w-well, every story Padfoot tells me from your home itâs justâŠâ
âSad, I knowâ you said as James composed himself. âYou can say itâ you told him.
âIs it⊠as bad for you as it is for Sirius?â he asked, worriedly.
âA littleâ you admitted. âAt least Sirius has you, Remus, and Peterâ you smiled a little.
âYou have me tooâ he said, placing your hand on top of yours and making you look up at him. âYou know that, right?â he asked, feeling his heart beating faster when your smile got bigger.
âYouâre sweet, Jamesâ you said, surprising him a little. âWhat?â
âI think thatâs the first time you call me by my first nameâ he smiled.
âOh, s-sorry, um-â
âNo, noâ he chuckled. âI liked itâ he assured you. âI um⊠I like youâ he said, feeling his cheeks blushing.
âY-you do?â you asked, breaking James' heart at how genuine your question sounded. As if you were actually confused as to why someone would like you.
âOf course, I doâ he said, cupping your cheek gently.
âA-are you about to kiss me?â you whispered.
âIs that okay?â he asked sweetly and you nodded smiling before James gently pressed his lips against yours.
You had no idea what you were feeling. Your entire body felt as if fireworks were exploding everywhere. Never, in a million years would you have thought that kissing James Potter would feel so perfect, but now that you knew, you never wanted to stop.
âAlright. I think Iâm readyâ you said once you pulled apart. James smile at you and got up, offering you his hand to help you. âY-you promise I wonât fall, right?â
âPromise, loveâ he said, pulling you closer and kissing your hand.
Lies. From that moment. You never should have fallen for him. How could you have been so stupid? James may have been right, every story from your childhood was extremely unhappy, but you had never felt so empty inside. Having a best friend who then turned into something more and you were sure that you felt was something that you had never felt before, and now it was gone.
You hoped listening to sad songs would help you cry but your eyes seemed dry. You felt the pain in your heart, which was weird. You never felt that before. But you thought you might as well cry. James said it might help whenever you felt upset. But it ended up being him who cried. And not you. So, you were about to just go to bed, when you heard someone knocking loudly on your door. At 1:47 in the morning. You sighed, rolling your eyes, and quickly ran over to open the door, revealing nobody on the other side.
âJames, what the bloody hell are you doing? Youâre going to wake up my entire house!â you said, pulling him inside and closing the door as he removed the cloak around him.
âIâm sorry, love! I am so sorry Iâm late! I swear I lost track of time!â he slurred out.
He was drunk. Really drunk. He was still in his Quidditch robes, drunk out of his mind.
âPotter, youâre-â
âNo, no, no! Please donât call me Potterâ he said, walking closer to you and grabbing your hands. âYou only call me that when youâre madâ he pouted. âI know I screwed up but I promise I will make it up to you, love!â
âJames, youâre drunk-â
âI know! There was a party because we won and I swear I was just going to be there for a few minutes b-because Iâm the captain a-and I just lost track of time and-â
âYou should leaveâ you said, quietly, avoiding his eyes. You knew you would cave if you looked into his beautiful doe-eyed face. And you had made up your mind.
âNo, no, sweetheart, please I want to make it up to you. Please give me a chance!â
âYou are drunk right now-â
âI know, I know. Iâm sorryâ he insisted. âI can- I just need to-â
âJames, please. Iâm tired and youâre drunk. Just go to bedâ you said, firmly. âWe can talk tomorrow if you want toâ you told him.
âI donât want you to be aloneâ he said, his eyes tearing up. âItâs your birthday!â
âItâs no longer my birthday so⊠you can goâ you said, getting upset.
âI donât want to leave youâ he said, getting closer to you and cupping your cheek softly, making you look at him. âPlease, love. I am so sorryâ he said. âPlease talk to me, just tell me how I can make this right. You can yell at me! You can throw things, I deserve it-â
âJames, I donât want to yell at youâ you said, sighing tiredly. âI just want to go to sleepâ you told him.
âI donât want to leave you, loveâ he said, with a few tears escaping his eyes and bringing you closer. He was about to kiss you and you smelled the Firewhisky in his breath so you pulled away and he kissed your forehead instead.
âFineâ you sighed. âY-you can stay but Iâm tired, I just want to go to sleepâ you gave in.
âOkayâ James said, feeling his eyes welling up. He couldnât believe he had failed you. Just like everyone else in your life. He fucked up. He slowly walked over to your bed and sat down. âIs⊠this okay?â he asked nervously.
âSureâ you said, sounding exhausted.
You threw yourself on your bed, turning your back to him and James quickly climbed next to you. You instantly felt his arm wrap around your waist, pulling you to him. You sighed deeply, preparing yourself for what was to come. You were going to miss him. You knew that much. You hated how used you had become to him. How regular it just seemed for him to show up and spend the night with you. So, you took it in. His scent, his touch, everything about him because you knew it would be gone by tomorrow.
âIâm really sorry, loveâ you heard him say before he kissed the back of your head.
âJust⊠go to sleep, Jamesâ you whispered back and it wasnât long before you heard his snores.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
The next morning, James woke up to an empty bed, and the realization of the night before quickly came flooding back into his mind. He quickly sat up and saw you on your desk, writing on some parchment.
âUm- w-what time is it?â were the first words that came out of his mouth and he cursed himself. He was beyond stupid.
âItâs still earlyâ you replied as you continued doing whatever it was you were doing. âIf you hurry, you can still go to breakfast before your friends wonder where you areâ you said, quietly.
âN-no. I donât want to go to breakfastâ he said, walking over to you. âI want to apologize and talk to youâ he said, looking down at the parchment you were working on. âW-whatâs that?â
You finished writing and stood up, handing the piece of parchment to him with a serious expression on your face.
âA list of people who are not Severus Snape that can tutor you in potionsâ you simply said, trying to make your way to your window seat.
âW-what?â he panicked.
âI have your things hereâ you said, handing him a box with his things. âOhâ you said, realizing you were wearing his sweater so you quickly took it off and placed it on top of his things. âSorryâ you said, and you felt like you were freezing.
âWait, youâre- youâre breaking up with me?â James asked, placing everything aside and walking closer to you. âPlease, just⊠hold on a second. I promise I can explain-â
âJamesâ you said, taking a step back. It unnerved James how calmly you were talking to him. Like you did in the beginning. Like your walls were up again and he meant nothing more than a stranger to you. âI just donât think that this is workingâ you said, silently.
âPlease, donât do this, love! I swear I want to make it up to youâ he said as a few tears started falling down his cheeks.
âWhy are you crying?â
âBecause I love you!â he shouted a bit louder than he intended to. âI know I fucked up and I am so sorry! But please, love, just give me another chance, I swear I didnât mean to miss it-â
âThat doesnât matter, James-â
âYes, it does! I know youâre angry, and you have every right to be, I understand that! But this is a fight, I- I can make it up to you and w-we can go back to the way it was-â
âWhy would we do that?â you asked, confused.
âBecause thatâs what couples do!â he insisted.
âWeâre not a couple, Jamesâ you said, sounding broken.
âYes, we are!â
âNo, weâre not. You never asked me to be your girlfriend. Weâve never gone out on a date. You barely talk to me outside these walls-â
âYou said you didnât want Sirius to know about us! I told you I didnât care!â
âThat doesnât make a difference, James!â
âYes, it does! Because I love you!â
âNo, you don't!â
âYes, I do! I love you so much and I know you love me too!â
âOkay, now youâre just being ridiculous, Potterâ you said, with a sarcastic chuckle as you tried to walk into your bathroom but James blocked your way.
âNo, Iâm not!â he said, softly as you tried to look away. He gently cupped your cheek with his big, strong hand and slowly lifted your face so you could see him. Not even a sign of tears while his eyes were flooded. âTell me you donâtâ he said, quietly.
âE-excuse me?â you asked, confused.
âTell me you donât love meâ he said. âI know youâve never said that you love me but whenever I tell you that I do, you smile and you kiss me! Youâve never said that you donât! So, tell me you donât love meâ he insisted.
âJames!â
âNo! If you want to break up with me, at least talk to me first! You at least have to tell me how you feel about me!â he argued.
âYou wanna know how I feel about you?â you snapped pushing yourself away from him.
âYes!â
âYou really want to know how you make me feel?â you said, getting upset.
âYes!â
âI have no idea how you make me feel, James!â you snapped, breaking Jamesâ heart. âY-you make me feel happy and angry, and scared, and sad, and crazy, and warm, and vulnerable, and like I can break at any moment, but I somehow know that I wonât because you wonât let that happen but then I feel so lost if youâre not there! And I feel weak and confused, and-â enchanted. âAnd, alive and like I can float, and sure but unsure at the same time, and like I can be myself and I want to try to be a better person but it wouldnât matter because you still look at me with that stupid grin! And- and-â you said, trying to take deep breaths. âI donât know! Itâs just a lot all at once and I donât know how to handle it and I donât like it!â you said, trying to catch your breath. âI donât like it, James!â
âOkay, okay!â James said, quickly walking over to you and placing his hands on each side of your face. âBreathe, love, pleaseâ he said quietly, as you slowly tried to catch your breath and stop shaking. James was now fully weeping but a small smile formed on his face. âSweetheartâ he said, quietly. âThatâs loveâ he told you.
âW-what?â
âWhat youâre feelingâ he explained. âThatâs loveâ he insisted.
âHow do you know that?â you asked, confused.
âBecause thatâs exactly how I feel about youâ he said as you managed to even your breathing again.
âI donât like feeling scaredâ you whispered.
âI know, loveâ he smiled. âI know, and Iâm scared too-â
âThen why would you still want to be with me?â
âBecause I love youâ he repeated. âAnd⊠youâve made me the happiest Iâve been and I know that I fucked up yesterday, I do, but I promise I will make it up to you and, if you let me, I will spend the rest of my life making you as happy as you make me, loveâ he said in a serious tone.
You took a deep breath. You wanted to. You really did. You wanted to know what was on the other side and if you could live a âhappily ever afterâ that you read in so many stories when you were a kid. But this was real life. And you couldnât break James Potter like you broke everything else you touched.
âNo, Jamesâ you said, pushing away from him.
âB-but-â he tried but you walked away, going to your bathroom.
âPlease, James. JustâŠÂ forget it. Like you forget everything else" you said sadly before you walked inside, locking the door and your heart broke when you still heard him cry.
James turned to look at the box you left with all of his things. He couldnât bring himself to take it. He needed to make things right. He walked out of your dorm and your house and made his way over to the Gryffindor Tower, not even caring about breakfast. He plopped himself on the furthest sofa, and after a while, he heard giggling and a group of girls walking over to him.
âHey, Potterâ Marlene asked. It wasnât usual to see him without his three friends and his energy was entirely different today. âYou okay?â
âUm⊠can I ask you, girls, something?â he said as Marlene, Dorcas, Lily, and Alice sat around him. âI would ask my friends but⊠in this particular subject they all are just⊠uselessâ he chuckled sadly.
âIs it about a girl?â Alice asked.
âWell⊠yeahâ he admitted.
âOh, Merlin it is! Who is it?â Dorcas asked, excitedly.
âI canât⊠say it out loud, Sirius canât know!â
âHeâs your best friend, why canât he know?â
âBecause itâs his sisterâ Lily smirked.
âWhat?â the other three reacted shocked.
âHow did you know?â James asked, confused.
âIâve seen you in Potionsâ she shrugged. âYou two are cute togetherâ she smiled. âSo, what happened?â
âWell, we had been seeing each other for a while now and yesterday was her birthday and I promised her that we would do something and I had this whole picnic planned in the Astronomy tower but⊠I lost track of time and-â
âNo!â Alice said, her smile dropping.
âYou didnât!â Dorcas frowned.
âYou forgot?â Marlene asked, slapping his arm.
âI didnât mean to! We were playing with our secondary team because we had so many hurt players, I didnât think we would win! And then we did and I started drinking and I just lost track of time!â
âYou are unbelievable potter!â Marlene glared at him.
âI want to make things right! I love her and Iâm pretty sure she loves me to-â
âPretty sure?â Alice asked with an arched eyebrow.
âW-well, she hasnât said it, exactly, but I know she feels itâ he insisted. âLook, this is the first time Iâve felt like this in my life and I know that I fucked up but⊠I also know sheâs scared and it just⊠I want to make things rightâ he insisted.
The four girls shared looks amongst themselves before they went back to James and Lily nodded.
âAlright, weâll help youâ she agreed.
âReally?â
âYes, but only because she has looked happier lately, and you seem to actually be sorry. But if you fuck this up again, Potter-â Dorcas threatened.
âI know, I swear, I wonât!â he told them.
âAlright, thenâ Alice smirked.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
âWhat are you doing here?â
âFor fuckâs sake!â you jumped, falling down the stairs you were on and landing on the floor. âSirius!â you said, getting up. âWhat the bloody hell are you doing here?â you glared at your older brother.
âI asked firstâ he shrugged.
âNone of your businessâ you said, rolling your eyes. âYou?â
âSameâ he said.
âFine. This has been lovely, thenâ you said, trying to walk out of the class but Sirius stopped you.
âOkay, no! Wait!â he said, grabbing your arm and turning you around. âI was⊠looking for youâ he admitted.
âIf youâre planning on stealing my Potions essay, I havenât finished it yet-â
âNo, thatâs not itâ he sighed, running a hand through his hair. âI⊠wanted to⊠um⊠talk to youâ he said, awkwardly.
âWhy?â you asked, genuinely confused.
âWell, there are⊠a few things I wanted to tell youâ he admitted. âIf um⊠youâd like to come with me to the⊠Lake or somethingâ he said.
âWell, since you asked so normallyâ you said, still confused. But this was the first time that Sirius talked to you in so long, you really didnât want to take it for granted, so you followed him. Once you reached to the Great Lake he sat down near a tree and pointed his side so you would join him. âSo⊠did you bring me here to kill me or-â
âShut upâ he said with a faint chuckle. He then looked inside his bag and got out a small present. âHereâ he said, handing it to you. âUm⊠happy birthdayâ he said quietly. You raised your eyebrow at him before grabbing the gift.
âIs this thing going to catch fire or something?â
âNo!â he argued. But he couldnât really blame you for thinking that. âNo, I promise, I just⊠I know Iâm a day late-â
âYouâre about six years late but, alrightâ you said a bit harshly.
âI guess I deserve thatâ he muttered as you opened your present and you saw all of your favorite candy from Honeydukes. âI⊠wanted to say that⊠Iâm sorryâ he said.
âUmïżœïżœ why?â
âWhat do you mean why? For shutting you and Regulus out when I got sorted into Gryffindor and then⊠still not reaching out to you when you were sorted in Hufflepuff-â
âNo, I know but⊠I mean⊠why now? Do you need something? Are you dying? Am I dying?â
âStop it, bug!â he said, rolling his eyes and then looking at you when he realized what he had just called you. You felt your heart stopping for a moment.
âYou⊠you havenât called me that in a very long timeâ you said, feeling warmth in your heart. Once you thought was absolutely gone.
âI know⊠Iâm sorry, if youâre not okay with it-â
âItâs okayâ you quickly said. âI⊠kind of missed itâ you admitted, looking away.
âYou used to hate itâ he chuckled.
âYeah, I know but⊠once it was goneâŠâ you sighed.
âWeâre both really bad at this, arenât we?â he laughed a little and, to his surprise, you did too.
âWe definitely are the worst at feelingsâ you admitted. âWhy are you apologizing to me now?â you asked curiously.
âA couple of reasonsâ he said. âI miss youâ he admitted and you glared at him a little. âI really do!â he insisted. âLook, I get that we are awful at feelings and all that but⊠Iâve kind of been working on it and⊠I just⊠I want a relationship with my little sisterâ he said genuinely.
âThose are big words, Siriusâ you chuckled. âWhat do you even know about relationships?â
âWell⊠Iâm⊠currently in oneâ he said, looking away.
âYou are?â you asked, a bit shocked and he nodded. âWow, whoâs the unlucky girl?â
Sirius let out a scoff, glaring at you. âActually⊠itâs not a girlâ he corrected.
âIs it Lupin?â you asked as Sirius widened his eyes in surprise.
âHow did you know?â
âWell, itâs pretty obvious, you sink a deeper level of idiot whenever youâre around himâ you informed him.
âThatâs not true!â
âYes, it is. Last week you knocked down your cauldron and three others when he laughedâ you pointed out.
âThat was⊠an accidentâ he tried to defend himself.
âSure, it wasâ you said sarcastically.
âSo⊠what do you think?â he asked, nervously.
âWhy would you care what I think?â
âWell, youâre my sister, and⊠youâre also⊠the first person Iâve toldâ he admitted.
âReally?â
âY-yeahâ he said with a nervous smile.
âWell, if Iâm being completely honest⊠I think Remus can do a lot better than youâ you said with a smirk, making Sirius push you a little and glare at you.
âThatâs not funnyâ he argued.
âI wasnât jokingâ you said. âIs he⊠the one thatâs making you get in touch with your feelings?â
âKindaâ he admitted. âYou know, he and James grew up in a functional home, and⊠they know how to feel like a normal personâ he informed you. âSo⊠a few months ago, I was where you are right nowâ he added.
âWhat are you talking about?â you asked, nervously.
âIâm talking about you and Prongs and how you are afraid of being in a relationship with himâ he said, casually.
âW-what? D-did James say-?â
âHe didnât say anything, but heâs a terrible liarâ he shrugged. âIâve known for a while and⊠to be honest, I have never seen him as happy as he is with youâ he told you. âAnd⊠I have never seen him as miserable as todayâ he added. âSo, I knew you were probably feeling worse, but⊠had no idea how to express itâ he told you.
âHow would you even know that?â
âBecause youâre just like meâ he told you. âA few months ago, Remus and I had our first fight. He told me that he loved me and⊠I kind of ran awayâ he said. âWe didnât speak for about three days. I was in such a bad mood, even I didnât want to deal with myselfâ he explained. âLook, I know that we are wired differently than everyone else because mum and dad didnât exactly teach us how to⊠feel or⊠loveâ he continued. âSo, when someone does, it feels-â
âFucking weirdâ you added.
âYeahâ he agreed. âBut⊠that doesnât mean that we canât, you know that, right? And it doesnât mean we donât deserve it, bugâ he told you. âI know I screwed up on my part and I am really sorry for pushing you away-â
âWhy did you do it?â you asked all of the sudden. âI get that you were angry when you came back home from your first year but⊠Regulus and I never thought any different from you and you⊠shut us downâ you said, sadly. âAnd then⊠the next year, when I was sorted into Hufflepuff, I thought maybe-â
âI know! I should have talked to you, I know, I was an idiot!â he said, genuinely. âRemus has made me talk about it a lot lately and⊠I want to make things rightâ he sighed. âYou donât have to forgive me if you donât want to and I donât expect you to do it right away if you do, I just⊠had to start somewhereâ he smiled, hopeful.
âBy giving me candy and saying happy birthday a day later?â you smirked a little. âItâs a good start, I guessâ you nodded, grabbing a Sugar Quill and giving him one.
âWell, I also⊠wanted to help you fix things with Prongsâ he suggested.
âBecause you love James so much now that you are an expert on feelings and donât want to see him sad?â
âWell⊠sort of, but⊠I love you too, bugâ he said, making you almost choke on your sweet. You were pretty sure he had never said that before. âI know, we donât really say that to each other or anyone else. Remus was the first person I ever said it to. It feels good, you should try itâ he continued. âI know you love James-â
âHow could you possibly know that? Even I donât know that!â
âI think that you do and thatâs why youâre so scaredâ he told you. âAnd I know Iâm probably the last person that should be telling you this but⊠thereâs nothing wrong with thatâ he assured you.
âItâs justâŠâ you sighed. âW-what if he realizes how broken I am and he doesnât want to be anymore?â you asked, sadly, breaking Siriusâ heart a little. âOr if I end up breaking him?â
âBug, youâre not that broken-â
âReally? Do you want to know what I was doing in Potions class? I was looking for something that would make me cryâ you explained.
âReally?â
âYes, James cries all the time, did you know that?â
âYeah, he cried when Moony and I told him we were datingâ Sirius laughed.
âI feel empty without him, Sirius, and yet⊠not a single tear!â
âWell, that doesnât mean youâre brokenâ Sirius insisted. âWe never cryâ he continued. âBlacks donât cryâ you both said at the same time, letting out a small laugh. âWeâll get there, bugâ he said, pulling you to him and kissing the side of your head.
âWe?â you asked, a little confused.
âOh yeah, now that you have accepted me back into your life Iâm not leaving-â
âCan I reconsider this-?â
âNope, itâs too late! Weâre going to be best friends, bug!â
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
You had surprisingly spent the rest of the day with Sirius, and Remus had joined at some point. They took you to Hogsmeade as Remus insisted on at least taking you out for your birthday. You liked Remus, and you could see that he definitely brought out the best in your brother. They seemed very in love. And at some point, it dawned on you. You were in love with James. He had been right. What you felt for him, was love. You were still terrified but you had made up your mind to talk to him the next day. Remus and Sirius even said the four of you could go to Hogsmeade together. This was definitely the craziest thing you had ever gone through in your life. But you were done feeling sorry for your self and you were done being afraid. You definitely did not want to spend the rest of your life like your parents. Feeling nothing and being unhappy. So, you would talk to James and try to be happy for once. However, when you opened your dormâs door, you saw that he had already gone ahead of you.
Your mouth dropped when you saw the scene in front of you. Your dorm was decorated with beautiful fairy lights above, like floating stars, and candles and flowers everywhere. James was in the corner, finishing putting some flowers next to your bed.
âJames?â
âOh, Iâm sorry, love- I uh-â he stuttered, walking closer to you. âUm, I know you told me to f-forget about it butâŠâ he sighed, offering you the last flower in his hand. âI donât want toâ he chuckled. âI donât want to forget about it and⊠I donât want to forget about youâ he explained. âLove, I know that I majorly fucked upâ he continued. âAnd you have every right to hate me and never forgive me if you want to but⊠I wanted to give you the birthday that I had planned for you first. The birthday that you deserved before I royally fucked it upâ he said, grabbing the picnic basket on your window seat.
âDid you ask the elves to do the whole meal again?â
âN-noâ he assured you. âUm⊠I did it myselfâ he said, making your heart flutter a little. âGranted, I⊠uh, I donât think itâs going to be as goodâ he chuckled. âSo, we donât have to eat it if you donât want toâ he assured you before he placed the basket back down. âI um⊠I also didnât get to give you your presentâ he said, grabbing a bag on your nightstand.
âYou-â you felt something weird happening. âYou got me a present?â
âOf course, I got you a present, loveâ James smiled sweetly. âWould you like to open it? Or we can eat first if youâd like. Or you can eat. And I can leave if you prefer-â
Before he could go on, you quickly grabbed the bag from him. James smiled to himself at how excited you looked, opening your gift. And then, you pulled it out. A book. And a stuffed rabbit. An exact rabbit like the one in the book. Wearing a small knitted cardigan with Gryffindor colors. Just like the one James had given you.
âWhat-?â you tried to catch your breath. âH-how did you-?â
âThe sweater comes offâ he smiled. âI asked my mum to make it, I thought it would look cute because you like mine so muchâ he explained.
âN-no, how um- how did you know-?â
âYou told me, remember?â he frowned, confused. âHow when you were a kid, and your mum took you and your brothers to Diagon Alley and you ran off and got lost and ended up in a muggle libraryâ he continued. âAnd you read that book and you always wanted a rabbit like that one-â
âY-you remember that?â you asked, in complete disbelief.
You told him that story so long ago. You remember it perfectly. It was the first night he stayed in your dorm and you ended up talking all night. You had no idea he would remember it. It felt like forever ago.
âOf course, loveâ he said as if it was obvious.
Before either one of you could say anything else, you threw your arms around Jamesâ shoulders and you planted a big kiss on his lips. James widened his eyes in surprise a little before he closed them and wrapped one of his arms around your waist and he placed his other hand on your cheek.
âThis isâŠâ you sighed when you pulled apart and you looked down at your rabbit. âThis is the nicest thing anybodyâs ever done for meâ you chuckled.
"Um... I also wanted to ask if... you would like to be my girlfriend?" he said, nervously.
"I would really like that" you nodded.
âWait, are you⊠are you crying?â James asked, brushing a few tears with his thumb.
âA-am I?â you asked as a smile appeared on your face. You brought your hand up to your face and you saw that it was, in fact, covered in tears. âIâm crying!â you chuckled as you noticed Jamesâ eyes welling up as they usually did. âJames, Iâm crying!â
âI can see that, loveâ he smiled brightly at you. âIâm really sorry I forgot your birthdayâ he said, pulling you closer.
âItâs okayâ you assured him. âYou cooked for meâ you said with a small laugh.
âI also apologize for that. I have no idea what I was doingâ he warned you.
âIt canât be that badâ you assured him. âWould you like to join me?â
âR-really?â
You nodded, grabbing his hand and pulling him towards your window. You sat down as James pulled out the food, smiling when he saw you playing with your rabbitâs ear and going through the pages of your book. He had never seen you smile like this. And he promised to himself that he would do anything he can to keep that smile placed there.
âJames?â
âYes, love?â
âUm⊠please donât cry when I say this but⊠uh, you were right⊠earlier todayâ you said, nervously before you cleared your throat and you looked at him. âI love youâ you admitted, feeling an enormous weight off your shoulders. And of course, Jamesâ tears quickly ran down his cheeks.
âY-you do?â he asked with a sweet smile and you nodded.
âIâm sorry it took me so long to say itâ you said, nervously. âI just⊠well, y-you know Sirius and I donât really- um⊠I was just⊠scared because we were sort of instructed to⊠not really feel anything and I just⊠didnât want to screw things up with you because you are very in touch with your emotions and Iâm a bit broken that way-â
âYouâre not broken, loveâ he insisted, holding your hand in his. âI wish you could see yourself as I see you. Because youâre perfectâ he said, making you smile a little. âAnd I love you so muchâ he said, pulling you for another kiss and he felt your smile against his lips. âSay it againâ he asked when you pulled away.
âJames-â
âPleaseâ he pouted, making you laugh and roll your eyes a little.
âI love youâ you said, making him throw his arms around you and pulled you to him, peppering your face with kisses as he heard you laugh, which was his favorite music.
âI love you too!â
The End
[Bonus Scene The Next Day at The Three Broomsticks...]
"Sirius... are you crying?" Remus asked his boyfriend.
"It's just so beautiful" he said, wiping his tears as you rested your head against James' shoulder. "How Prongs set everything up for her birthday after he forgot and he got her that cute rabbit" he said, while Remus chuckled and hugged him and he looked at James.
"You kind of opened the gate for Blacks to cry, you know that right?"
a/n: in love with my protective!marauders so here's this !!! also, snape has his suspicions of remus in this, just to be clear.
check out my masterlist & send in any requests <3
remus lupin knew when to keep his mouth shut. he knew when not to react and how to stay under the radar, but that didn't stop you from not keeping your mouth shut for him.
you knew it was going to be a rough day when your defence against the dark arts professor unexpectedly changed the lesson plan from banshees to lycanthropes.
remus, if he had known prior, would've faked an illness and skipped out, too uncomfortable with the wandering eyes and the permanent fear that someone would find him out.
instead, he sat beside you at your shared desk, having been there for too long now to get up and leave and ultimately cause a scene. more eyes on him was the last thing he needed.
you had kept his hand in yours, feeling it squeeze and tense and shake throughout the entirety of the class, and you were sure all the skin of his bottom lip was bitten clean off from his nerves.
everything was okay for the majority of it. the professor was surprisingly respectful in his delivery and you, james and sirius spent the whole time calling out immediate answers to his questions. the three of you, for obvious reasons, knew everything like the backs of your hands and tried your hardest to avoid any snarky comments from other students for the sake of poor moony, who remained dead silent.
everything was okay until the group of slytherins opened their mouths.
you'd left the classroom with the three boys, grip still tight on remus' hand as he let out a relieved breath, glad to be out of there. you didn't, however, make it that far down the corridor before you heard snape's voice.
"those freaks need to be studied in mental hospitals. that professor had no idea what he was talking about, still calling them humans. they're monsters, that's what they are-"
remus tensed beside you at his words and sighed as he felt the inevitable coming on. the four of you stopped in your tracks, and in no less than a few seconds you'd whipped around and had your wand pointed directly at snape.
"i think it's you that has no idea what you're talking about, right severus?" you challenged.
james stood protectively beside you, ready to jump in if you needed him and sirius stood just behind, arms folded and a proud smirk on his face.
"i think the lady asked you a question, snivellus," james piped up, sporting a similar smirk to your brother as he raised his hands in mock defence. "i'd answer her if i were you."
malfoy snickered behind snape, not knowing the true intent behind his words as the latter stared back at you, head tilted with a gross sort of grin as he looked between you and remus. "did my words hit a little close to home, black?"
remus just sighed again, head bowed in slight humiliation as the rest of you tensed up.
"fuck you, snape, i swear to merlin-" you seethed, grip on your wand incredibly tight as you started towards him before you felt a gentle hand on your forearm pulling you back.
"it's not worth it," remus spoke softly into your ear, his voice conveying more hurt than he would've liked.
you didn't lower your wand, still breathing heavily as you remained in place. snape was still grinning at you and it took everything in you not to hex him into oblivion.
james moved to stand in front of you to get your attention and also put some distance between you and snape. "we'll get him later, yeah? i swear."
"trust us, we have a plan," sirius clamped a hand down on your shoulder, his signature smirk returning as the three of them pulled you away.
true to their word, the marauders had pulled of a series of pranks on snape that left him too terrified and humiliated to even leave his dorm, the last two turning his hair semi-permanently pink and breaking him out head to toe in bubbling warts.
remus had seemingly gotten over what was said by the end of week (after two or three vulnerable moments in the safety of your arms), and snape hadn't left the slytherin common room in days.
it was the following saturday afternoon, and the five of you were scattered about by the fountain in the courtyard. you, remus and peter were studying for the upcoming charms exam whilst james and sirius... pretended to.
remus was just about to test you on your recently read chapter when a shout from across the courtyard rudely interrupted.
"oi, gryffindors!"
"here we go," james spoke proudly, smirking to himself as he pushed himself up off the ground. "and what is it you want on this fine afternoon, mulciber?"
the slytherin boy in question stalked over to your group, malfoy and avery in tow. "did a fine number on our snape there, didn't you?" he spat in james' face, sizing him up.
the rest of you stood up at that, sirius particularly fast as he threw an arm around james and flashed mulciber an innocent grin before scrunching up his face in disgust. "oh mate, you might wanna get your mouth cleaned out before getting too close to my james here."
you snorted out a laugh at your brother and mulciber sneered, shoving him away by the shoulders. "you keep quiet, black. you think you have any right talking to me?"
"snape got what he deserved," you spoke up, narrowing your eyes at the group of boys as you got between him and sirius. "you should teach your friend to keep his big nose out of where it doesn't belong."
avery barked out a laugh, your attention turning to him as he joined mulciber's side. "you're funny, little black. all bark and no bite, aren't you?"
peter stood back, eyes wide in fear. remus, remaining his usually calm self, tensed up and took a step closer to you when avery jabbed his finger into your chest, only for it to be slapped away by sirius with an angry "don't fucking touch her".
"alright, avery. that's enough," remus spoke up, his voice firm as he rested his hand on your lower back.
avery did nothing but laugh again, not taking his eyes off of you. "you're nothing but the gryffindors' little slut, aren't you?"
sirius suddenly shoved him back with an angry force just as remus stepped in front of you, his voice scarily calm as he spoke. "the fuck did you just say?"
"you heard me," avery shrugged, clearly unfazed by sirius' actions as his smirk grew even more. "i bet she gets passed around you all like the little whore she is. is she good?"
you stumbled back into peter in shock, his words ringing through your ears as the blonde boy wrapped an arm around you protectively.
"if you know what's good for you, avery, you'll shut your fucking mouth," remus seethed, his eyes never leaving avery's face as he slowly moved closer towards him.
the boy didn't answer him and instead turned his attention back to sirius as he lowered his voice, sneering at him evilly. "i bet you join in on the action too, don't you? some sick fantasy you blood traitors like to indulge in, huh? regulus is the only worthy one out of you three, you ever invite him to join?"
sirius exploded in a fit of rage and james grabbed him as he lunged towards the slytherin, holding him back before he'd kill the guy. "who the fuck do you think you are, avery?! i swear, you're so fucking dead!"
"you'll be done with her soon enough," malfoy joined, shrugging his shoulders casually as he sneered at remus, stalking towards him. "maybe then you'll let us have a go, yeah? she was meant to be one of us, after all. she may be a blood traitor but she's hot as-"
a sickening crunch interrupted him as remus sent his fist reeling directly at his nose, nothing but pure rage seeping through his veins as he sent punch after punch to avery's face.
"remus!"
james and sirius watched in shock for a moment (both quite frankly more than happy to let remus beat him to a pulp, and in fact cheered him on for the first two or three hits) before your pleading voice snapped them out of it. they each grabbed one of remus' arms and narrowly avoided getting an elbow to the face as they dragged him off of the half-unconscious boy.
"you even look at her again and i swear to godric you'll be spending the rest of your lives in the hospital wing."
the two other boys scrambled to grab avery and ran off towards the castle, terrified of remus' sudden outburst.
"alright, show's over you fuckers!" sirius called out to the relatively big crowd that had formed around you all, who reluctantly dispersed out in different directions. "give us some bloody space!"
"well that felt good," remus chuckled quietly as he shook his hand a few times.
you just stared at him with wide eyes and your mouth dropped open slightly. "you.. you just-"
"fuckin' hell, moony that was bloody brilliant!" james broke out into a cheer, him and sirius praising him and re-enacting just how brilliant it was as remus laughed quietly again before turning to you.
he gently took you from peter's grip and raised his eyebrows as he looked down at you, going back to his usual gentleness as he scanned your features worriedly. "are you alright, darling?"
you didn't quite know what to say, looking up at him slightly starstruck as you just nodded your head and stumbled over your words. "yeah, i- yeah."
he gave you a gentle smile and cupped your face with his non-bloody hand before leaning down for a kiss, conveying all his usual love and softness into it as if he didn't just completely wreck avery's face.
the sounds of gagging filled your ears and you broke away from remus with a soft laugh at james and sirius' antics.
"don't forget that's my sister, moony! merlin, what that fucker said about us is going to haunt me forever."
The bar hummed with music, laughter, clinking glasses, and the occasional roar of a motorcycle outside. In the corner booth, among the haze of cigarette smoke and the dim glow of neon lights, sat a group of friends, claimed as The Avengers.Â
Bucky Barnes leaned back in the booth, his eyes constantly scanning the room with a gaze as piercing as the edge of his knife. His presence commanded respect anywhere he went, without raising his voice. He was an enigma wrapped in leather.
A smirk played at the corner of his lips as he observed the scene at the bar. Your presence was a stark contrast to the rough ambiance of the bar. Dressed in a delicate flowing dress, out of place amidst the leather and tattoos, you were the embodiment of vulnerability in a world that praised itself on toughness. Your gaze darted nervously around the room as you waited for your drink.Â
Buckyâs grip tightened around the beer bottle he had been nursing as he watched the bartender lean close to you. His jaw clenched with a quiet intensity, some instinct urged him to intervene, to protect you from whatever the guy was trying to do. But, before he could make a move he noticed Steve, your older brother and his best friend, standing closer to you. It was obvious from Steveâs expression and assertive stance that he was telling the bartender to step back.
Turning back his attention to the booth, he caught Natashaâs knowing smirk and Samâs amused glance. They also had been watching the scene at the bar and offered small nods of approval toward Steve as you both made your way to the booth with the drinks. You were a tight-knit group, and there was an unspoken understanding that you would always protect one another. Mostly, it was you that they were protecting.
Your emotions began to bubble to the surface, tears threatened to spill over. The reasons for them, you were unsure of. Was it the presence of the new bartender? Perhaps Steveâs protective demeanor had caused them. Or maybe it was simply the atmosphere of smoke and dust. Regardless, as you settled back into the booth, the sight of Buckyâs eye-rolling toward you only worsened the urge to cry.
âSpill the beans, crybaby,â Buckyâs voice cut through the chatter of your friends around you. âWhatâs the verdict today? Tears of joy or sadness?â his tone dripping with sarcasm as he leaned forward.
Your cheeks flushed, and you tilted your head up hoping gravity will stop the tears from spilling. âI, I donât know,â you mumbled softly, your voice barely audible over the noise of the bar.
As the night wore on, the bar grew increasingly rowdy and you found yourself retreating into the safety of your thoughts. No matter how hard you tried to hide your teary eyes, you couldnât escape Buckyâs watchful gaze.Â
~
As closing time drew near, there was a subtle shift that settled over the group, a silent acknowledgment that their night was coming to an end. With reluctant sighs, you began to gather your belongings. The rest of your friends picked up their packets of cigarettes and leather jackets, as you picked up your sketchbook and pencil. Preparing to leave the warmth of the bar for the cold embrace of the night, you begin to make your way to the exit.Â
Bucky remained rooted in his spot in the booth, his gaze fixed on some unseen point around the bar. âHey, Buck, you coming?â Steve called out, his voice tinged with concern as he glanced back at his friend.Â
You could almost see the cogs working in his mind as he hesitated, clenching his jaw. âI think Iâll stay a bit longer,â he finally replied, his voice low.Â
Wanda arched an eyebrow, confusion took over her features as Natasha spoke for you all, âEverything okay, Barnes?â she asked, her tone laced with curiosity.Â
He offered you all a tight-lipped smile, a silent reassurance that didnât reach his eyes. âYeah Iâm fine,â he beamed at you all with an uncharacteristic glee. His gaze flickered over to you for a brief moment before returning to your friends. âIâll catch up with you tomorrow,âÂ
With reluctant nods and murmured goodbyes, you and the rest of The Avengers made your way out of the bar, leaving Bucky alone. As the door swung shut behind you, Bucky let out a heavy sigh before making his way over to the bar.
~
With a heavy sigh, Bucky climbed the stairs to your apartment door, his footsteps echoing in the empty hallways. An hour must have passed since you would have gotten home. As he reached the familiar door, he hesitated for a moment, his already grazed knuckles hovering over the wood before finally summoning the courage to knock.Â
The door swung open, revealing your concerned expression as you took in the sight of him standing on her doorstep, a black eye already began to form.Â
âBucky? What happened?â you exclaimed, your voice filled the air with concern as you ushered him inside.
He offered you a weary smile, his gaze met yours with a mixture of gratitude and exhaustion. âYou should have seen the other guy,â he replied, his smile turning into a playful smirk.Â
You arched an eyebrow skeptically, as you gestured for him to take a seat at the kitchen table. âLetâs just get you patched up,â you sent him a reassuring smile as you moved around your kitchen to fetch the first aid kit.Â
As you began cleaning and dressing his wounds, he couldnât help but marvel at the tenderness of your touch. Your hands moved with practiced precision while you stood in between his tights. Despite his attempts to downplay his injuries, he winced slightly as the antiseptic stung, his jaw clenching.Â
A wave of emotion washed over you, and tears began to well up in your eyes, a silent testament to the guilt you carried from causing him more pain and discomfort.Â
Buckyâs heart clenched at the sight of your tears, forgetting about his own pain momentarily as he reached out to gently cup your cheeks, wiping away the evidence of her distress. A gesture as gentle as it was instinctual. âHey, whatâs wrong?â he asked softly, his hand never leaving your cheek.
You swallowed hard, your gaze flickering away from his as you struggled to find the words you wanted to say, âI, I donât like when youâre hurt,â you admitted, your voice barely above a whisper.Â
A pang of guilt twisted in his chest as he realized the hurt he was causing. Without hesitation, he pulled you into a gentle embrace, his arms wrapping around your waist. âI know, sweetheart,â he murmured, his voice filled with regret as he felt your tears dampen his skin. âIâm sorry,âÂ
In the warmth of his embrace, you found comfort, and the weight of your worries subsided by the rhythm of his heartbeat. You nuzzled your face into the crook of his neck, calming your emotions with every passing second.
Getting Together
main masterlist
regulus black x potter!reader universe
word count: 1.4 k
note: been sitting on this for a while lol
takes place during the marauders 6th year and Reg's 5th
Sat criss-cross on the bathroom counter, Y/n held her hair out of her face in a make/shift ponytail while she finished her eyeliner, Sirius was sat on the toilet lid while he waited for his turn with the girlâs eyeliner.
The gangâą was getting ready for a Hufflepuff party, they may be kind and hard-working students but damn that house could party.Â
âI probably wonât stay long, I've got a tummy ache.â âWell, Iâm sure Remus would be willing to come back here with you.â â âWhat about Remus?â James said, walking into their shared bathroom to brush his teeth before the party (planning to kiss Lily, though he will most likely fail once again)
âNothing.â Y/n said casually before going back to her eyeliner, hitting her brotherâs hand out of the way of opening their mirror cabinet.Â
James asks, with his mouth full of toothpaste and his toothbrush hanging out of his mouth, âAre we balding?âÂ
ââWeâ?â She looked at him through the mirror and planned to tell him how thick-headed he sounded, but got distracted by her small bald spot. âWait- do youâve the same?â âYeah,-â âI think itâs just our hairlines.â âYou think?âÂ
Sirius may have a brother but, much to his own dismay, never had that sibling dynamic with Regulus, they loved each other but due to their upbringing they showed their love quietly. So he always found James and Y/nâs back and forth moments as foreign as the rest of the boys did since neither Peter or Remus had siblings.
-
The group of five entered the Hufflepuff common room, James immediately went to the drinks, dragging Remus with him, while Sirius dragged Peter and the girl with him to the dance floor. The two others eventually brought the rest their own cups, Y/n danced but it felt like whenever she looked up she noticed her newest roommate.
This past summer break Sirius and Regulus run away and have since been living at the Potterâs, which both twins were relieved about, they knew about the Blacks.Â
Regulus was nursing his drink while leaning against the fireplace, his long fingers wrapped around the cup, mumbling some sarcastic comment to Barty, until they linked eyes through the room full of wasted students. Though it felt like it broke as fast as it formed when Sirius tapped her on the shoulder and informed her of the girl Peter was about to ask to dance, pushing him aside she began to fix Peterâs hair by brushing pieces out of his face and flattening his shirt.
âGo get âer, Pete!â âOkay.â She laughed at his awkwardness. Peter could always make her laugh, though that could be said about all the boys, Peter had the type of humour that even he himself didnât know when he was being funny and the biggest laughs came when he wasnât trying.
Overall the party went well, Sirius didnât leave too long after that interaction, Remus going with him for whatever fake reason he gave this time, Pete ending up leaving with that girl, and James after not winning over Evans yet again, went back to the dorm no doubt unknowingly interrupting a moment between Sirius and Remus.Â
But Y/n couldnât bring herself to go back to the dorm just yet, she liked the fresh air and the time away from the boys. It was when she went farther down a trail for a smoke that she saw the black-headed boy sheâs grown to know well after the summer.
âHey, Reg.â âHello.â
Regulus was just getting comfortable around her when school came around again, one of the many reasons it took so long to be comfortable around the older girl was since he could remember he had liked her. The summer after Sitiusâ first year he showed Reg some pictures of his new friends, and the second he saw Y/n he was gone.
The girl walked closer to the bench Regulus was sitting on and sat herself next to him, neitherâs eyes leaving their view of the black lake for more than a couple seconds.
âMy brother and your friends just abandoned you?â âSirius went back to the dorm, had a stomach bug and Renus went with him an-â âThose two finally?â âHowâd you know about that?â âSirius is my brother and I know him rather well.â âI guess you do⊠Want-?â She gestured for him to grab her cigarette, he shook his head ânoâ which was an uncommon answer around here, but it sorta made sense that Regulus wouldnât, she supposes heâs proper that way.Â
âSo what about your friends?â âPandora doesnât really do parties, and Iâm sure Barty and Evan are off somewhere.â âWell Iâm glad we both got abandoned.â She looked up to face the crescent moon, not thinking too hard about how Regulus would interpret her words. She liked when he did. All summer she had made comments like that one, she enjoyed the blush that would rise to the tips of his ears.
âWhyâs that?â âI like being with you.â The boyâs head shoots up from it staring at the grass beneath their feet to look at her beside him.Â
âY-you do?â âYeah!...â Her pause made Regulus assure that he read that âbeing with youâ thing wrong, because of course she wouldnât date him; sheâs a year older, the most gorgeous girl heâs ever seen, as well as the nicest. But in actuality, Y/n has been trying to hint that she likes Regulus since the beginning of the summer. Yet the boy was most oblivious to people truly caring about him, he didnât believe it possible; that only made her want to show him even more.
âReg, I really like being with you..â She said, expectantly, enunciating every word to get it through his self-loathing skull. It was when she raised her eyebrows at him that it hit him, he was not imagining it. Not at all.Â
âReally? Me?â âYes.â âOh⊠I did not expect that.â Whether it was meant to be said out loud or not, it made Y/n laugh so Regulus was thankful he did, he liked her laugh. Still unmoving, Y/n makes the first move yet again.
She grabbed the end of his Slytherin tie, twirling it between her finger tips before grabbing it in a fist to pull the younger boy in. Her lips covered his own, gently they moved together, her hand went to his and placed them on her waist and then hers went to the side of his neck, all while holding her cigarette in the other. The taste of said cigarette lingered in her mouth adding to the addicting taste of her and her almost gone strawberry lip gloss.
Finally pulling back, both slightly out of breath, they took a moment to gather themselves. The Potter girl took a final drag before putting it out with her heel.
âI gotta get going, Reg.â âOh-â âIf you're free after classes tomorrow Iâd love to meet back here.. We could talk, or just be with each other.â âYeah. I would really like that.â âGood. Okay, Iâve really got to go though, James gets worried when any of us stay out too late.âÂ
She waited a second before turning on her heels to begin her walk, though the sound of footsteps stopped her in her tracks and Regulus came up next to her, âAs you mentioned itâs late, it would be the gentlemanly thing to do to walk you to your common room.â âWell gee, what a gentleman Iâve got on my hands.â
Their conversation flowed as they walked the long walk to Gryffindor Tower. And though they got plenty of time together Y/n couldn't help the slight disappointment when they arrived at the portrait hole.
âThis is my stop.â âYes.â âI donât feel very gentlemanly now that you have to walk all the way to the dungeons now, why donât I walk you?â âThen I would walk you back here and we would be in a terrible loop.â âThe loops not so terrible if Iâm spending the whole time with you.âÂ
If another student were to hear their conversation, see the love stricken grin on the girl's face, and the red face of Regulus they would most likely throw up from the sheer cheesy-ness. And to make matters for the state of the blush on his face worse, Y/n placed a soft peck on Regulusâ lips one last time.
âNow get outta her, Iâm not allowed to let other houses hear the password, especially not snakes like yourself.â That sentence from just about any other Gryffindor would have offended him, but everything Y/n said felt like it came from a good place.
âOkay. Goodnight.â âNight, Reg.â She laughed out, due to his seriousness. She then held on to her word and didnât say the password until he was out of ear shot, watching him as he left.
đ SIRIUS SHOULDNâT KNOW
synopsis. how is james supposed to leave reader alone, when she always kisses him so good?
notes. james potter x black!reader.
even though many thought that the relationship between the black family wasnât even tolerable, sirius black loved his siblings (and cousins) to the point he grew protective of them. he believed that his slytherin brother was sly enough to protect himself, but his youngest sister didnât seem like it. so⊠at first he protected her from their parents, now it was time to protect her from the boys, whoâd like to have her undies on their room floor.
at the beginning you thought it was cute, even your twin agreed, but it had quickly changed, when sirius wanted to be the one whoâd take you to the homecoming ball, scaring everyone off. so talking to james there was easy, it was probably one of your first talks ever. you sat next to him throughout the whole night and talked, getting suspicious looks from remus, who knew how could that end up.
james was going through a break-up with a girl he thought was the love of his life. it was definitely teary for him, and his best friends were aware, so if sirius caught his sister looking at potter with those daydreaming eyes, he would shoot some deer. oh, and if you were heartbroken, because he used you as a rebound, his head would hang in their dorm before the sun come.
he didnât think much that night, seeing you alone in that emerald gown, visibly sad due to siriusâ nonsense, and he had to talk to you. heâs heard lots about you, from padfoot, moony and regulus, but never got quite a chance to start a conversation with you. in between the words, you left the great hall to go to the bathroom and ten minutes later his white, silky shirt laid on the floor of your dorm, while he unzipped your dress.
there were multiple rumors going around the school about james, and which type of a partner he was, was he a good kisser, had he got good manners, if he respected boundaries. now, you could truthfully admit that james potter was a hella good kisser. so good that if he wasnât hovering over you, youâd barely stand. you were shaking under his touch or when his cold breath itched the skin of your neck.
it was supposed to be a one time thing, at least you thought so, because you hardly talked the following week, but then he asked you out to go on a date with him. his request was unexpected, but who were you to disobey? and now, a few months after, you were secretly seeing james potter, remus and regulus being the only ones that knew, keeping sirius away from discovering the truth.
âdove, just lay down with me alright? nothing will happen.â your boyfriend mumbled into the soft fabric of his pillow, one of his arms trying to reach you to somehow get you back to him. âheâs not coming here so early, câmere and gimme a kiss.â
âjamie,â you pouted. âi donât want this to end, and it probably will if he finds out.â he sighed upon hearing your words, and hugged your bare back. âwe really gotta come up with a solution.â
his fingertips traced lines on your arms as you spoke, your words getting quieter with each stroke. âiâm gonâ play pretend with lily, alright? just like weâve talked.â you didnât want this, not more than sirius finding out about you two, nevertheless seeing your boyfriend spend more time with his ex would definitely hurt. âthen, weâll find a real solution.â he finished leaving a few kisses on your shoulder, sending a shiver down your spine.
âare you sure you can do it?â you asked, tilting your head to the side. âthe question is, are you sure you can handle it?â now, it was your time to wonder.
you liked lily, you really did, especially since sheâs been hanging around your friendâs dorm so much, it felt as if she became your housemate. she was always so nice to you it hurt, thinking how good of a match she used to be with james.
âdove, donât overthink it. i love you, remember? now, chop chop, i need to meet up with ginger.â he smiled, pulling away, before reaching for your shirt and giving it back.
âleaving me for your ex? rude.â you rolled your eyes jokiny, while putting on your shirt. âsee you after classes.â you added, before leaving.
youâd say you expected everything as you walked down the hallway to enter the great hall, regulus and barty brickering over something as insignificant as what youâd eaten the day before, or that sirius was being obnoxiously loud. however, you were definitely not ready for what you were about to see.
evans was snuggling in jamesâ side as he feed her, big grins on their faces, shooting a glance at pandora, you noticed you werenât the only one upset with the whole thing. clutching your bag to your chest, you sat at the slytherin table between your brother and one of his friends. âi donât like this.â you murmured prior to regulusâ arm drape over your shoulders. âbarty, mind moving a little to the left, so i donât kill myself in a minute?â
âi donât get it.â crouch began, looking at you all confused. âwhy wonât you just⊠i donât know. confeont sirius about all this? itâs not like youâre twelve or something. youâre gonna be sixteen in a short time, why acting like youâre not?â he shrugged, stuffing his mouth with anything his hand could reach.
âyou know sirius.â you mumbled, hiding your face in your palms. âyou should either tell him, or break up with potter. thereâs no point in hiding if you never come out of your shell.â evan shrugged, immediately getting a look from regulus. âdid he even ask you out properly?â
âno, butâ weâre exclusive.â you frowned upon his words. âevan, just shut up.â dorcas uttered, knowing where this conversation would lead, the five of them (including aliya, who were currently occupying the hospital wing) has already discussed the idea of your relationship with james. the conversation reoccurred whenever you seemed a little too upset after talking to him, and even though they would never say anything that included your relationship in front of you, they cared if you were happy.
âi lost any appetite that was left in me.â you sighed, locking eyes with remus, who quickly hit james in his leg under the table to make him look at you. it felt like when he did, he looked like he had realized something.
nevertheless, when you left so suddenly, he kept the act, not rushing after you. it wasnât the first timr, when you were visibly hurt by something and james couldnât do anything in public, because sirius was always somewhere in sight. good thing you had a friend to run after you. well, barty didnât exactly run, but he caught up to you swiftly, and left the hall with his arm on your shoulders and a quick stare for james.
âyou gotta man up, tell sirius and stop this whole potter-evans madness.â he sighed, his arm falling off you as soon as the door closed behind you. âi mean, what will your brother do â kill you? youâre a young woman, he gotta know that!â he nudged you with his elbow as you walked to the class.
to be honest, you absolutely loved potions, what you disliked about them was that on fridays you had them with the gryffindors, and slughorn made it his mission to make you socialise more, so⊠you were stuck at one desk with marlene mckinnon for the whole two hours.
youâd lie if you said you didnât know or like marlene. mckinnon was one of the girls you liked the most from your brotherâs friend group, most likely because she also hung out with dorcas and dora a lot, so you knew her vibe matched yours. nonetheless, after the scene with your boyfriend and his ex-girlfriend, you werenât exactly in the mood of talking to anyone who wasnât a part of your own house.
âso⊠you and rosier?â her eyebrows wiggled suggestively as she spoke, grabbing your attention faster than ever. âwhat? whatâs with the face. everyone saw how protective he was of you today at breakfast.â she grinned and stopped babbling for a moment, at the same time the professor sent you a glare.
ânah.â you shrugged, scribbling in your notebook. âwhy? heâs my friend.â a reply left your lips as you relaxed your chin on your palm, shutting your eyes for a second.
âi mean⊠lily and james were also best friends and now theyâre back togetherâŠ?â you knew she didnât know that it wasnât the truth, but somehow you grew quiet. âyou and evan would look just as cute as they do, or even more. who knows?â
till the end of the period, you hadnât spoken more than a one-word sentence, mckinnonâs words still ringing in your mind, getting louder and louder each second. you wondered if you and james looked cute together, if anyone would be like «woah, if they broke up i donât believe in loveâ type of person.
âi think even sirius said heâd root for you.â that was all you needed to let go of the fear, not only because you were annoyed that someone thought you and evan were a thing (when he was clearly interested in his other friend), but because sirius used to brag about any boy you talked about making either you or the boy himself lose interest.
you decided to hold your horses until necessary, and⊠you were really surprised, when the jealousy burst out at jamesâ birthday party a few weeks later. you werenât directly invited, ânot to raise any more suspicionsâ, but since your boyfriend clearly stated he needed you to be there, you appeared, elbow intertwined with your twinâs.
at first, you wanted to keep everything simple. a plain, fitted black dress that you wore to the banquet your parents forced you to go to, when you were younger. although, back then your silhouette looked completely different, your curves developed and now the dress that once made you look like a wardrobeâs door, now it brought out everything that was needed.
within few drinks, and half an hour of watching your boyfriend fooling around with his ex, you had enough. it was his birthday and you couldnât even properly celebrate it with him in front of all these people. with another two shots for courage, you walked up to them and by pulling his tie the closest you could, you crushed your lips onto his.
you didnât even give sirius a chance to protest. without saying a word, you pulled back, grabbing his hand and almost run to the stairs to his dormitory. âsorry mate, what your girlfriend says, you must obey.â he shrugged and followed you, leaving your poor brother in shambles.
âfinally! i thought sheâd kill herself or you two, no offence though.â regulus sat beside lily, and smiled warmly, catching a glimpse of pandora whoâd seen your outburts as a sign to finally give up hiding.
âwait, you knew?â the oldest black turned his head to his younger brother and frowned.
âwe all did, padfoot.â remus laughed, taking a seat at the armrest of siriusâ chair. âsome of usââ his eyes landed on marlene. ââ were pushing their buttons to end this madness.â
âwhat? i almost got the jealousy admission from james.â mckinnon shrugged, sipping on her drink.
âSo youâve never read Pride and Prejudice?â You asked, almost offended by your discovery.
âNo. Do you happen to remember that my parents are blood supremacists who forbade me from reading muggle literature?â Regulus responded.
âOkay, maybe I forgot. Either way, this is unacceptable. Reggie, it appears we have found our next book to read.â You announced, picking up a strawberry that Regulus had been reaching for.
âOi! I was gonna grab that one!â He exclaimed, trying to reach for the red fruit, only to have you pull your arm away from him.
âYou snooze, you lose,â You said with a shake of your head.
However, right as you went to bite into the sweet berry, Regulus tackled you, his body hovering over yours and your wrists pinned against the picnic blanket laid on the grass.
Throughout being tackled, you somehow managed to continue your hold on the strawberry, refusing to yield to him.
âYou couldâve just asked to split it and I wouldâve done it, love,â You pointed out, cocking your eyebrow.
âWell, this is much more fun. Isnât it?â Regulusâs voice dropped to a whisper, his face lowering closer and closer to yours.
âIt isâŠâ You breathed out, lifting your head up until Regulusâs lips were pressed against yours, his hair brushing against your forehead.
The blissful silence was broken by a loud shout.
âWhat the hell is this?!â Sirius yelled, causing the two sixteen-year-olds to quickly break apart, scrambling to opposite sides of the blanket with their eyes wide in horror, the strawberry long forgotten.
You opened your mouth to respond but faltered at the rage burning in Siriusâs eyes.
âWhat is it Padfo- what in Merlinâs name is going on here?!â Jamesâs eyes fell upon the sight of Regulus and you, his big brother mode immediately activating.
All words of defense and explanation quickly disappeared from your tongue, unsure of how to respond to the obvious rage emitting from the two boys.
âJames, Sirius, I... I can explain- we can explain, please-â You stuttered out, struggling to get any words out of your mouth as your panic set in.
âNo. No, câmon Y/N, weâre leaving,â James said, his voice as firm as his grip on your arm as he pulled you off of the blanket, glaring at Regulus and dragging you away from the Black brothers- one of which was frozen in horror, the other seething with rage.
âY/N-!â Regulus called out, going to stand before falling back from a shove from Sirius.
âWhat the fuck, Regulus?!â Sirius exclaimed, âWhy her? Out of every girl in this school, you chose the one whoâs like a little sister to me- is it to get back at me for leaving?â
âItâs not that, Sirius- IâŠâ Regulus faltered.
âWhat? Spit it out!â
"Listen, I... I really like Y/N- really like her. Please, I'm not doing this out of vengeance, Sirius. I wouldn't even think about hurting Y/N! Siri⊠Iâm not lying to you, I swear," Regulus stuttered out, the childhood nickname accidentally slipping off his tongue, "It's... real and I've never experienced anything like it before.â
âGodric⊠I just donâtâŠâ Sirius paused, chewing on his lip, âI canât do this right now.â
Sirius turned around for a moment, but turned to face his brother once more, âWe arenât done, Regulus. But this? This is.â
Regulus sat there speechless as his brother jogged to catch up to James and you, looking down to see the red strawberry sitting on the blanket, miraculously untouched.
When you entered Hogwarts, you were sorted into Gryffindor like you older brother James, which made you both very happy
As a Gryffindor, you didnât have Slytherin friends, but you didnât really hate them either
You and Regulus properly met when you were partnered in potions, and you were surprised of how nice and polite he actually was
After that class, you started talking a bit with him every time you shared a class, and soon you started to hang out in the library or in the courtyard
You wrote to him during the holidays, and made sure James didnât know
You hung out more and more with Regulus in secret, and after a while realized you were having feelings for him. You
Unbeknown to you, Regulus already had feelings for youÂ
After a while, you contemplated telling Regulus about your feelings, but you thought he wouldnât want to date a girl who wasnât in Slytherin
But to your great surprise, he invited you to the Yule ball and you gladly accepted
The night of the Yule Ball, James was shocked to see you two together and angrily confronted you, saying Regulus being in Slytherin wasnât the problem, but his views on pure-blood purity and wizards being superior to MugglesÂ
You were surprised to learn it, and told him Regulus never talked to you about it, and had been nothing but kind to you
However, you still talked to Regulus about it on private, and he assured you that what his family thought didnât matter, and that he cared greatly about you and didnât want to lose what you had
You said you had to think about it, but as you turned around to leave, he grabbed your arm and kissed you passionatelyÂ
âYou had no idea for long I wanted to do thisâŠHow many times I imagined this momentâŠâ
And thatâs when you realized there was mistletoe over you two
He then asked you to be his girlfriend, and you obviously said yes
You decided to tell James right away, so he could see how awesome Regulus was
James wasnât happy but accepted it, but Sirius tried to tell you Regulus wasnât good for you, but you refused to listen to him, and Regulus was very thankful for that
Regulus was the best boyfriend you could ask for
He loved to cuddle, to hold you at night
Not much on PDA at first, but with time had no problem kissing you in public
He defended you against his friends - and you did the same
He always got you gifts and took you out on dates
Your parents quickly became fond of him, and you always invited him during the holidays - much to Siriusâ annoyanceÂ
When James realized how happy Regulus made you, he decided to be cordial to him during the holidays, but things remained the same at HogwartsÂ
When you and Regulus got married, James accepted to be your witness and was genuinely happy for you
Like my father {Blurb}
Sirius Black x Porter!Reader
Summary: Reader wants a man to love her like her father loves her mom. She just hasn't met him yet.. maybe.
AN: I needed a break from all the angst I'm writing.
Wc: 1494
Cw: use of Y/N, oblivious reader, idiots in love, not proof read
Part two
âLily, I implore you to raise your standards.â You snarked as you entered the kitchen, giving your mother a kiss on the cheek and she playfully pinched your side.
â{Y/N} Euphemia Potter!â She scolded and you giggled, hurrying over to your father and kissing on the head.
âGood morning, princess.â He hummed and you smiled.
âMorning daddy!â
âOi! Pops, she just insulted me!â James shouted across the table and Fleamont huffed, looking up at you. âBe nice to your brother, princess.â
âDaddy you know I can't.â You insisted as you walked across the table to give Lily a hug. Pressing your cheek to hers as she giggled.
âYou're way too pretty for my wack of a brother.â You continued and your mother looked at her father fondly, taking his hand in her own, which he quickly squeezed in return.
âYou're one to talk, you haven't dated anyone⊠ever. Not that anyone would date-â James smirked and Lily rolled her eyes, laying her head on his chest and pinching his side as he tried to continue.
âOuch!â
âThank you Lily.â You giggled and sat down at your seat, muttering a thank you to Sirius as he handed you your morning tea. Giving a low hum at the smell of the sugars and fragrant tea leaves he shifted for it. âBesides, I have standards that prevent me from stooping too low.â
âStandards?â James scoffed and you hummed as you took a sip of your tea, muttering another thanks to Sirius who began to serve you breakfast- a routine you two picked up at Hogwarts that was getting hard to break. âYou have standards? You used to crush on boys left and right!â
âYes but the second they didn't meet my standards they were gone.â You insisted with a hum and James shook his head with a scoff.
âWhat standards could you possibly be talking about?â
âWellâŠâ You muttered and began to tap on your mug in thought. Slowly smiling to yourself. âI want a man who loves me like daddy loves mum.â
You could feel the room quiet as your words hung in the air. Your father glanced up from his breakfast, a soft smile spreading across his face, while your motherâs eyes sparkled with pride.
âNow that is a standard I can get behind,â Fleamont said, his voice warm and filled with affection. âA man who cherishes you and treats you with respect is worth waiting for.â
âExactly!â You exclaimed, feeling a surge of confidence. âI want someone who understands the value of love and partnership, not just a fleeting crush. Someone who will stand by me through thick and thin, just like you two do.â
James rolled his eyes dramatically, leaning back and throwing his arm around Lily. âSo, like us?â
You gave a long sigh before you slowly smiled. âUnfortunately, yes. You were gifted with dadâs love language, it's your only redeeming quality, I fear.â
Lily snickered and James gave an offended gasp.
âI wantâŠâ You trailed off as you put your hand to your cheek and crossed your leg over the other. âI want to come home to flowers. And tea made the way he knows I like. I want him to think about coming home to me at the end of the day.â
You didn't even seem to look when Sirius poured more tea into your cup, stirring in some sugar as you talked. Even though everyone else at the table noticed.
âI want a man who gets along with my parents too! And daddy has high enough standards as it is!â
You glanced over at your father, who was smiling proudly at you, his eyes twinkling with affection as he glanced at your mother who seemed to just be eating it up. âI do have high standards.â He mumbled with a playful grin, leaning in to kiss your mothers temple. âBut Iâm confident that any young man would be lucky to have you.â
âSee?â You said, pointing at him with a mock-serious expression. âEven Dad agrees! So, boys, do take note: youâve got to bring your A-game if you want to win my heart.â
James snorted, not noticing as Lily and Sirius seemed to make eye contact over the table. âWhat if they show up with flowers but no charm? Or worse, what if they have charm but no flowers? Sounds like a dilemma.â
You rolled your eyes, shaking your head. âThatâs why Iâm not settling for just flowers or just charm, James. Itâs about the whole package. I want someone who knows me better than anyone. Someone who knows my favorite flower,â You held up your finger and Sirius smirked from beside you.
âSunflowers.â
âMy favorite movie,â
âGrease.â
âMy favorite book,â
âLittle Woman.â
âAnd even my favorite meal!â
âAnything your mom cooks.â
âExactly!â You turned to face Sirius with a bright smile. âSee? It's not so hard, even my brothers best friend can figure it out.â
You smiled to yourself and took another sip of tea, not noticing your parents sharing a look and your brother giving you the most shocked expression.
Sirius just chuckled and picked a grape off his plate. âIt's easy when you never shut it, Potter.â He then proceeded to flick it at you, quickly, you caught it and rolled it between your fingers.
âOh! And playful too! I don't want to be dreadfully bored around the bloke.â
âPlayful? So you want someone who can keep up with your incessant snark?â James interjected, eyebrows raised in mock disbelief. âGood luck finding that! Youâll be searching for ages.â
You shot him a playful glare. âIâll have you know that my wit is one of my greatest assets, thank you very much. I need someone who can challenge me, not someone whoâs going to sit there and nod while I talk.â
âCouldnât agree more.â Lily chimed in, her voice light and teasing. âAfter all, who would want to date someone as dull as a rock?â
âExactly!â You grinned. âI want someone who can banter with me, someone who can make me laugh until I cry; I want to marry my best friend.â
âDo you have other friends?â Sirius sassed and you gave him an offended but playful gasp.
âExcuse me?â You exclaimed, hand over your heart in mock horror. âI have plenty of friends, thank you very much! Just because youâre one of them doesnât mean you can throw shade like that.â
âFriends who actually like you, though?â Sirius teased, leaning back in his chair with a smirk. âThatâs the real question.â
James burst into laughter, shaking her head. âHonestly, {Y/N}, you might need to reconsider your definition of âfriendsâ if heâs the best youâve got.â
âHey now, Iâll have you know that Sirius is a very valuable friend.â You shot back, your eyes narrowing playfully. âAnd let's not forget, I was Lilyâs favorite Potter first.â
âYou still are!â Lily cooed as she reached across the table, James quickly lifting his hands to keep you two apart.
âHey! Hands off my wife!â He playfully scolded and you laughed, before giving a dramatic sigh.
âI want a man⊠whoâs patient and sweet. Who knows what he wants and will take his time for it.â You nodded as if to agree with yourself. âI want someone who doesn't see me as some fleeting crush. He sees me as someone to work for, who puts in the time and energy.â
James smirked, leaning forward with a teasing grin. âGood luck with that! Youâre going to have to beat them off with a stick.â
âIâm serious, James!â You shot back, a hint of frustration lacing your voice. âI want someone who values me, not just for my looks or what I can do, but for who I am. Someone who appreciates my quirks and my drive. Someone who knows all my little weird things.â
âWow, when did you become so profound?â Sirius said, feigning shock as he dramatically placed a hand over his heart. âI didnât know you had it in you, Potter.â
âOh, shut it, Black. Iâm just stating facts.â You replied, your tone playful yet earnest. âI deserve someone who sees my worth and is willing to fight for it, just like my dad did for my mum.â
Your father smiled at that, clearly pleased with your sentiment. âThatâs right, my dear. Love is about commitment and effort.â He stood up and walked around the table to kiss your temple. âYou should never settle for less than you deserve.â
âExactly!â You nodded, feeling empowered. âI want a man who knows that love isnât a race.â
âMhm.â You father agreed before he patted Siriusâs back as he passed. âGood luck, son.â
Sirius felt his face flush and he slowly smirked to himself, biting his cheek.
You looked at him and furrowed your brow, before you mother came over and kissed your cheek and dismissed herself as well.
âWhat was that for?â You huffed and Sirius shrugged.
âWho knows?â
âWhat do you mean you just spoke.â
Y/N groaned and threw her head down into her hands. She and Pandora sat under a large tree by the Black Lake. âWhat more can I say to simplify it?â
âSorry, sorry. I just-â The blonde girl shook her head with a dazed smile. âIâm happy for you.â
âIt was nothing to get happy about.â Y/N snapped, earning a barely scolding look from her approaching brother, causing her to mutter an apology. âIt was just strange, thatâs all.âÂ
Pandora sighed and laid back against the soft grass. âHi, Regulus.â
âPandora,â He hummed in greeting as he lowered himself beside Y/N, giving her a gentle yet tired smile.Â
âHow was your day?â Y/N asked.
âFar too long for my preference, if I were to be honest.â
Y/N chuckled, âI agree.â
The silence fell among the trio as they stared into the Black Lake for a few long moments before their peace was disrupted. The Marauders crashed through their little haven like a twister. James and Sirius raced to the waterâs edge while Peter attempted to keep up and Remus strolled behind the group, reading his book.Â
Both Black siblings rolled their eyes at the sight of the boisterous boys.Â
âFor Salzarâs sake.â Y/N cursed under her breath. âI think Iâll head back now.â
Pandora sat up with a frown molding her lips. âOh, donât let them spoil your evening, Y/N/N.â
She shook her head stiffly as she knotted her hair up with her wand. âItâs almost dinner anyway, Iâll save you both seats.â
Y/N started her trek up the small hill back to the castle, passing Remus where he sat with his nose buried in his book. He looked up causing the two to share a courteous nod with no words exchanged other than the polite mumble of the otherâs name.Â
âOh câmon! Weâre brothers! Donât do it!â
Her attention was yanked back to her eldest brother and his friend as they playfully fought, still by the waterâs edge. James seemed to have been able to pick Sirius up, but he threatened to throw him into the lake. The sight caused tears to sting the back of her eyes as she never got to see her brothers jest around like the pair in front of her.Â
âWhat a cruel and unfair world.â She thought to herself as she continued her walk up to the castle.Â
~
The following morning went as normal. Y/N sat with the others at the Slytherin table, picking at the breakfast foods in front of her. Owls soon flooded the Great Hall and dropped letters and packages off to different students. First years students got care packages from their parents and long letters from their worried mothers and carrying fathers. Regulus and Y/N got a shared letter from their mother, and the pair shared a drained look.Â
âJust what I needed.â Y/N rolled her eyes while she fed her owl some treats.Â
Pandora looked between the two Black siblings with pitiful eyes.Â
Barty placed a hand on Y/Nâs shoulder and shook her around a bit. âDonât stress it too much, Little Black. Just finish your dinner before you open it.âÂ
She only responded with a subtle nod as she made eye contact with a certain messy-haired Gryffindor. James watched her from across the dining hall with a creeping concern when he noticed the two letters drop in front of her and her brother.Â
âWhoâre you lookinâ at?â Sirius asked as he leaned over to see what James was staring at and quickly side-eyed him sharply. âWhat do you want with them?â
âNothing, sod off.â James shoved him gently. âEat your food.â
Across the hall, Y/N had opened her letter and read it quickly. She looked up to see Regulusâ eyes already on her, she shook her head and fought back tears. Her mother had done it again. She pushed herself up from the bench and rushed out of the dining hall.
In the meantime, Remus eyed James and looked back to Y/N as she left the hall but he didnât express his thoughts. He had no reason to hate the Black twins but knew better than to get friendly with them for Siriusâ sake, but that never stopped him from carrying a cordial conversation with either of them. It wasnât a secret that the twins had it rough back homeâif you could even call it that. He was truly amazed by the talent each Black sibling performed with ease. They had perfected their masks. Unless you knew more than their family name, you would never know the terrors they have seen, except for now.
Within recent months, Y/Nâs long-since-perfected mask had begun to slip. Shaking hands and stiff posture were only among the smaller signs. Her sudden bursts of anger would catch any passerby off guard as her friends and brother tried to do some damage control. Everyone at school can see the difference in her, but no one would know the cause of it. But one thing for sure is that she wasnât Slytherinâs little princess anymore.
~
Y/N paced barefoot in front of Regulusâ room in the Black Manor. The winter holidays came upon the students of Hogwarts faster than expected this year much to Y/Nâs demise. Her motherâs voice could be heard from downstairs as it echoed through the cold house despite the late hours of the night.Â
Grimuald place had seemed magical to Y/N when she was a child. Running around with her brothers and always finding new hiding places. Only when they all got older did the squeals of children playing turn into screams of agony. Now the rooms they used to play hide and seek were haunted by memories of Sirius curled up on the floor begging his mother to stop.
The nearly silent creek of a door opening startled Y/N from her thoughts as she turned around to face her brother.
Regulus eyed her carefully in suspicion. âWhat are you doing up?â
âI-I came to come see you. Why are you up?â
âI was going to the loo. Are you okay, Y/N/N?â
Y/Nâs eyes teared up at the question and she instantly avoided eye contact. Regulus sighed in pity for his sister knew what had kept her up till now. He took her into his arms and walked her to his bed, guiding her to lie down as he tucked her in under his sheets.Â
âIâll be back.â
She didnât respond, only gave him a nod as she pulled the comforter up closer to her chin. A few minutes passed before Regulus returned to the room and shut the door behind him. He climbed onto the other side of the bed and pulled the sheets over him.
âYou better not steal all the blankets again. If you do Iâm putting you back in your room.â
Y/N giggled and turned to face him, holding an extra pillow to her chest. âThatâd be more work for you than me.â
She could feel him roll his eyes at her before a comfortable silence settled over them.Â
Just before Regulus was about to fall back to sleep, he felt Y/N shift under the bedding. He tried to ignore it for a moment until it was too much. He sighed aloud, âWhatâs wrong.â
âWe should run away.â Y/N didnât skip a beat, catching him off guard.Â
âWhat?â
Y/N reached over him causing him to groan when her elbow dug into his stomach.Â
âWe should run away. It worked for Sirius, why wouldnât it work for us?â
âIt worked for Sirius because we were still here. We are still here. Plus, where would we run to that mother and father wouldnât find us?â
She paused for a moment, thinking through just how wise it would be to voice her thoughts. âI have a small idea⊠But Iâm not sure youâll approve. Iâm not even sure I approve.â
Regulus eyed her skeptically, âY/N?â
âThe Potters.â
The Prank / Harry Potter
summary: Being Draco Malfoyâs sister offers significant advantages in Slytherin, with strong platonic ties to Mattheo and Theodore and a protective brother. Consequently, Harry's chance to make an impact might rely on an unfavored prank, providing him an unconventional path to disrupt the existing dynamics.
ps; english ins't my first mother tongue language if any grammar error is seeing through the story, it will be eventually corrected by me. enjoy!
Harry was all too aware of the weight his last name carried. His fame, a double-edged sword, had shaped much of his life and interactions with others. Among his classmates, it was a constant presence, a reminder of his place in their world. But there was one person who had caught his interest in a way no one else hadâsomeone who saw past the fame and into the person behind it. That person was you.
But somehow, just looking at you wasnât enough for Harry. He had become utterly fascinated by youâby your values, your independence, and, most intriguingly, the stark contrast within your own family name. Being a Malfoy had brought its privileges, but you had carved out your own identity, distinct from the expectations of your lineage. With a fiercely protective brother and a mother who showered you with care, you were surrounded by the trappings of tradition. Yet, you had found a way to stand apart, to be your own person. It was this strength that drew Harry in, making him feel both intrigued and conflicted.
He almost felt ashamed for even entertaining the thoughtâseeing himself with a Malfoy. It was a notion that seemed impossible, yet it lingered in the back of his mind, impossible to ignore.
It was during a rainy day, early in autumn, when most students sought shelter either in the Astronomy Tower or, like you, found solace in the quiet of the library before lunch. The sound of rain pattering against the windows created a soft background noise as you browsed the shelves, hoping to steal a few moments of peace. Your brother, Draco, and his ever-loyal group of friends had been abuzz with excitement about their latest scheme to alleviate their boredom.Â
And, of course, in typical Draco fashion, he was predictably drawn to stirring trouble with Harry Potter. His lack of originality when it came to tormenting the Gryffindor had become almost a routine, a familiar dance between the two. You, however, found yourself growing tired of the same old rivalry, even if it was expected in the Malfoy name. Today, more than ever, you felt disconnected from it all, your mind wandering elsewhere.
As you finally located the book youâd been searching for, Theodore Nott appeared in the hallway, offering you an escort to the cafeteria. It was a small but thoughtful gesture, especially considering that Draco hadnât even bothered to come get you himself. You smiled at Theoâs presence, appreciating the effort despite your brotherâs predictability.
âTheo, you know I can make my way there alone. My brother doesnâtââ you began, but Theo quickly shook his head, cutting you off with a knowing look. His expression suggested that Dracoâs insistence had been genuine, or perhaps it was just convenient timing.
âI must indulge you on the matter, Y/N,â he said, a hint of amusement in his voice. âBut Draco insisted I pick you up. For subtle measures, of course. He wanted to make sure you werenât... you know.â His words trailed off, but you knew exactly what he meant. Draco always had his protective streak, often imagining threats where there were none. Theoâs tone was light, but there was an underlying concern from Draco, no matter how overbearing it might seem.
Theodore didnât need to sugarcoat itâthe truth was clear. Draco didnât want you crossing paths with Potter, and though you hadnât, the underlying message was always there. âFine,â you relented with a playful sigh. âAnd since youâre already here to escort me,â you added with a mischievous grin, âwhy donât we intertwine arms and you can whisk me away to lunch? I canât bear to hear my stomach rumble in protest again.â
Theo mirrored your grin, clearly amused by your sudden shift in tone. Without missing a beat, he extended his arm. âI shall, My Lady,â he said with exaggerated formality, linking his arm with yours as you both made your way to the cafeteria, the earlier tension dissipating into shared humor.
Harry had already been in the cafeteria for a while, arriving before Draco as he slumped at the Gryffindor table. His disheveled appearance and tired eyes were telltale signs that he hadnât slept wellâlikely out on one of his late-night excursions around the school. He had probably lost a few Gryffindor house points, for his lack of subtlety, but the consequences didnât seem to bother him much.
Just as he was about to respond to Ronâs incessant complaints, his eyes shifted naturally, almost instinctively, from his untouched plate to where you entered. He didnât quite understand how or why it happened. Chosen or not, it felt like a curse. The sight of youâso effortlessly poisedâgnawed at something deep inside him, making him feel unsettled, even sick to his stomach. You, a Malfoy, represented everything he should stay away from. Yet, somehow, you always drew his gaze, an unwelcome and persistent distraction that pained him more than he cared to admit.
And there you were, moving with effortless grace, your hair catching the cool autumn breeze that slipped in through the slightly open windows. It swept through the room in a comforting way, though it seemed to stir something far less peaceful in Harry. As you made your way toward the Slytherin table, Pansyâs voice called out, greeting you from afar, but Harryâs gaze had already found youâunbidden, magnetic.
Your eyes met his across the room, and for a brief moment, something like understanding passed between you. His heart clenched at the sight of your slight smile. It was nothing more than a fleeting, innocent gesture, but to him, it felt like a wound. Oh, how he longed to just stand up, walk over, and close the distance between you. Like Draco would. Like Theodore, or any of your friends, could without a second thought. But he couldn't. He was Harry Potter, the Gryffindor hero, and you were a Malfoy. The invisible line between you felt impossible to cross, even as every fiber of his being ached to do just that.
âY/N,â Dracoâs voice rang through the air, sharp and authoritative, instantly pulling youâand Harryâback to reality. Harryâs heart sank as he turned, catching the familiar sneer on Dracoâs face. Your brother had a talent for making himself impossible to ignore, and judging by the look he shot Harry, it was clear he wasnât just here to fetch you. He was delivering a warning.
âYou look absolutely ridiculous sitting there,â Draco continued, his voice dripping with irritation as he strode up to you, arms crossed. âPeople will start to think thereâs something going on between you and Potter, and you know what Father would say about that.â
His words carried the weight of the Malfoy legacy, a burden you had carried for as long as you could remember. The invisible chains of expectation wrapped around you, tightening as Dracoâs cold eyes bore into yours. Harry clenched his fists under the table, resisting the urge to say something, do something. But he knew betterâDraco was already spoiling for a fight, and Harry wasnât about to give him an excuse. Not here. Not now. Even though his chest burned with frustration, he simply sat there, watching, waiting, and silently hoping you'd choose to defy your brotherâs words.
âI know,â you murmured quietly, your words barely audible as you approached the table, your sigh lingering in the cold air. The weight of Dracoâs presence pressed down on you, but as you sat, your gaze lingered on Harry for a fleeting moment, catching his eyes once more. It wasnât just his gaze this timeâboth Ron and Hermione were watching too, their faces clouded with concern. They knew, just as well as you did, the unspoken rules of your world. A love like this, between you and Harry, was forbidden, as if the mere thought was destined for tragedy.
As you settled in, you caught Harryâs lips moving, his quiet whisper to Ron barely reaching you. "Thereâs no way I can. Just look at her brother. He wants me dead. Iâm not worthy of her love.â
The words stabbed at you, even from across the room. You saw the doubt, the resignation in Harryâs eyes, and it mirrored your own inner turmoil. The weight of your familyâs name, the constant scrutiny, and Dracoâs looming presenceâit all made the idea of being with Harry seem impossible. And yet, the connection between you both felt undeniable, as if the universe had pulled you together in defiance of the very forces trying to tear you apart.
"Not worthy." The words repeated in your mind like a slow, haunting echo. Even as your friends chattered loudly about their next cruel prank on Potter, you could barely register their voices. Your fork hovered over the plate, numbing your movements as your thoughts spiraled. You were barely present, your focus lingering on Harry, on his defeated gaze, on the hopelessness you read in his lips. That was until Dracoâs voice slithered in, dripping with arrogance and disdain. âSister,â he muttered as he leaned in beside you, fingers boldly stealing food from your plate. He didnât care to mask his smugness as he licked the remnants of the sauce from his fingers, his eyes drifting towards Harryâs table, locking in for a brief moment. His gaze then slid back to you, sharp and accusing.
âA little bird told me it was wrong to stare,â Draco said, his voice taunting, as if daring you to deny it. His smirk deepened as though he had caught you in some hidden act of treason.You quickly turned your head, breaking the invisible connection between you and Harry. Your heart raced with the silent understanding that Draco had seen itâthe shared glances, the tension neither you nor Harry could fully conceal.
Draco leaned in closer, his voice lowering to a dangerous whisper, âWhatâs going on, Y/N? Donât tell me you've taken a liking to Potter. You know what Father would say. What Iâd say.â His tone dripped with malice, a quiet threat laced in every word.
âEspeciallyâ when they stare back at us.âÂ
You rolled your eyes, fixing Draco with your signature glare. His snarky smirk only deepened, clearly enjoying the discomfort he was causing. âDonât fret, Y/N,â he said, his tone laced with mockery. Theoâs voice cut in, carrying a darker edge. He held his glass with an almost possessive grip, his eyes never shifting towards Harryâs table. âItâs not as if itâs not obvious who heâs obsessed with,â Theo said, his voice filled with disdain. âI donât like it one bit.â
Mattheo joined in, his presence bustling with energy as he, along with Blaise, added their two cents. He leaned in to peck your cheek, his lips brushing against your skin. âTell me about it,â he said, his voice low and conspiratorial. âHeâs been murmuring your name during Snapeâs class. Creepy, if you ask me.â
Their words washed over you, adding to the already heavy tension you felt. You could almost feel the weight of their disapproval pressing down on you, mixing with your own swirling emotions. The combined voices of your friends were a harsh reminder of the precarious position you found yourself inâcaught between the expectations of your family, the harsh judgments of your peers, and the undeniable pull you felt towards Harry.
You took a deep breath, trying to steady yourself amidst the growing chaos. âI appreciate the concern,â you said, your voice steady despite the turmoil inside. âBut can we focus on something else for now? Iâd rather not have the entire cafeteria knowing my business.â The conversation shifted as your friends begrudgingly complied, their murmurs fading into the background. But the feeling of being scrutinized, of having your every move and emotion laid bare, lingered, reminding you of the impossible choices you faced.
The realization hit you like a jolt, a spark igniting your curiosity despite the swirling chaos around you. The way Harryâs gaze seemed to follow you with a mixture of longing and helplessness, even in the face of Dracoâs and your friendsâ disdain, piqued your interest further. His eyes, intense and unwavering, betrayed an emotion that went beyond mere admiration.Â
The peck on your cheek from Mattheo, once a simple gesture of camaraderie, now felt like a stark contrast to Harryâs silent, persistent gaze. It was a reminder of the stark divide between what was expected and what was truly felt. The starkness of Harryâs unspoken affection contrasted sharply with the superficial gestures you were accustomed to, like Mattheoâs fleeting touch. You found yourself wrestling with conflicting thoughts. Could Harryâs feelings be genuine, despite the walls and barriers that surrounded both of you? Could he truly harbor something deeper than the casual affection you had seen from others, akin to what you had seen with Riddleâs more manipulative displays?
As the cafeteria noise buzzed around you, you forced yourself to refocus on the present. The dayâs events had revealed more than youâd anticipated, challenging your assumptions and stirring a storm of emotions youâd rather not face. In the midst of the laughter and conversations, you felt a renewed determination to understand the depth of Harryâs feelings, and why, despite everything, he continued to look at you with such unwavering intensity. The path ahead was murky, filled with shadows and uncertainties, but you were now more resolved than ever to uncover the truth behind those haunted, hopeful eyes.
Hermioneâs nudge seemed to snap Ron out of his distasteful reverie, his eyes shifting to her with a mix of confusion and curiosity. âWhat was that for?â he asked, his tone laced with irritation but tinged with curiosity.
Hermione, ever the mediator, shot Ron a look that was both reproachful and sympathetic. âItâs just that,â she began, choosing her words carefully, âY/Nâs been dealing with a lot lately. And,â she hesitated for a moment, glancing over at you, who were now engrossed in a quiet conversation with Theodore and Mattheo, âshe might not show it, but itâs clear thereâs more going on than meets the eye. Harryâs not the only one with feelings here.â
Ronâs expression softened, though his brow remained furrowed. âYou think we shouldââ ââI think we should be supportive,â Hermione cut him off gently. âWe donât know whatâs really going on with Y/N and Harry. And honestly, with everything thatâs happened, maybe itâs time we gave them the benefit of the doubt. Besides, the last thing we want is to make things worse by adding to the drama.â
Ron nodded, albeit reluctantly. âAlright, fine. But if things get out of handââ Hermione cut him off again with a reassuring smile. âWeâll handle it. For now, letâs just be here for Y/N and not add more fuel to the fire.â The conversation shifted as the two of them turned their attention back to their meal, while Hermioneâs words lingered in the air, a subtle reminder of the complexities of emotions and the importance of empathy in a world full of uncertainties.
Hermioneâs recollection of the party was like a wave of nostalgia mixed with a hint of envy, and her eyes softened as she continued. âYou were stunning that night, Y/N. The way the dress accentuated your every move, it was like you were meant to be the center of attention.â
Ron, still blushing, shifted awkwardly in his seat. âAnd whatâs that got to do with anything?â Hermione gave him an understanding look. âHarryâs been thinking about you a lot, Ron. That night, especially. He couldnât take his eyes off you. It was as if he was caught between admiration and frustration, because he couldnât get close to you the way he wanted.â
Harry, who had been silently listening, shifted uncomfortably in his seat. âYou donât have to bring up the party, Hermione. Itâs... embarrassing.â Hermione smiled gently, her tone soothing. âItâs not about making anyone uncomfortable. Itâs about understanding that thereâs more going on beneath the surface. Harryâs not just pining away; heâs been genuinely affected by you.â
Ron, still flushed but now a bit more thoughtful, glanced at Harry. âSo, you really do care about her, huh?â Harry nodded, his gaze earnest. âYeah, I do. I donât know how to make it right, but I do care.â Hermioneâs expression softened further, and she patted Ronâs arm reassuringly. âSee? Itâs not all about giving advice or judging. Sometimes itâs about recognizing when someoneâs struggling and just being there for them.â
Ron nodded, a hint of understanding dawning on his face. âAlright, I get it. Maybe we should just let things play out and support Y/N, and Harry too.â Hermione gave him a grateful smile. âExactly. Sometimes the best thing we can do is to just be there for each other and let things unfold naturally.â As the conversation drifted back to other topics, the air was lighter, and the underlying tension seemed to ease. For now, the focus was on navigating the complexities of emotions with a bit more empathy and understanding.
Hermioneâs teasing tone was gentle but persistent. âShe mentioned you often, Harry. It wasnât just idle chatter. That night, she was so taken with you that she couldnât stop talking about how you caught her attention. Even when she tried to play it cool, it was clear she was struggling with her feelings.â
Harry shifted uncomfortably, but a small, genuine smile tugged at his lips. âReally? I didnât realize I made that much of an impression.âHermione nodded, her gaze thoughtful. âShe tried to keep it hidden, but it was obvious. She spoke about how conflicted she felt, especially with Draco hovering around and her own feelings about the Malfoy name. Itâs not just about admiration; itâs deeper than that. She was worried about what people would think, especially considering your past with Draco.â
Harry's eyes widened slightly, realizing the depth of your struggle. âSo, sheâs been dealing with a lot more than justââ Hermione interrupted gently, âYes. Itâs not just about you being âhandsomeâ or whatever. Itâs about her own internal battles and the fear of being judged for her feelings. That night, she was quite a mess. And despite her attempts to hide it, her vulnerability was apparent.â
Harry felt a pang of regret and concern. âI wish I had known. Maybe I could have helped her through it.â Hermione placed a reassuring hand on his arm. âItâs never too late. Understanding what sheâs been through is the first step. She needs to know that someone cares, without judgment. And right now, she needs to see that youâre not just someone sheâs worried about but someone who genuinely wants to be there for her.â
Harry nodded, his resolve firming. âIâll find a way to show her that. I donât want her to feel like sheâs alone in this.â As the conversation wrapped up, the mood shifted to one of mutual understanding and determination. Harryâs newfound clarity about your feelings and struggles gave him the motivation he needed to approach the situation with sensitivity and care.
Dracoâs plan was set with his usual confidence, and though you felt a twinge of unease, you knew better than to question him openly. âTonight at dawn, then,â you agreed, your voice soft but resolute. The instructions were clear, and Dracoâs expression was one of satisfaction as he dismissed the others, leaving you with your thoughts and preparations.
As the evening approached, you couldnât help but feel a mix of apprehension and resolve. Dracoâs scheme was typicalâusing you as bait to catch Harry Potter in a moment of vulnerability. It wasnât the first time youâd been used in one of Dracoâs schemes, but the stakes felt higher this time. There was something more personal about this plan, especially considering how your feelings for Harry had been evolving.
The hours ticked by slowly, and as midnight approached, you found yourself pacing in your room. You had to remind yourself that your role was to lure Harry into a situation where Draco could confront him. It wasnât about your own feelings or the growing empathy you felt for Harry. It was about following orders, maintaining your loyalty to your brother, and not causing any more trouble than necessary.
When the clock struck midnight, you slipped out of your room, carefully making your way to the library. The corridors were eerily quiet, the only sounds being the faint echoes of your footsteps and the distant creak of the castle. As you approached the library, you spotted Harry in the dimly lit space, hunched over a stack of books. He was absorbed in his reading, his focus evident. You took a deep breath, steeling yourself for the task ahead. The plan was simple: engage Harry in conversation, lead him into a situation where Draco could confront him, and hope that everything would go according to plan. As you made your presence known, Harry looked up, his expression a mixture of surprise and curiosity.
Harryâs initial surprise quickly turned to curiosity as he looked up from the book he was studying. The dim light of the library cast a soft glow on your face, highlighting the delicate features and the genuine concern in your eyes. As you bumped into him, the contact was fleeting, but it left an impressionâone that made Harry's heart race.
He looked at you, taking in the way you seemed genuinely apologetic, a stark contrast to the usual icy demeanor of your family. âItâs alright,â he said softly, his voice betraying the same mix of surprise and unease that you displayed. He took a step back, his hand lingering a moment longer on yours before he released it. âI didnât expect anyone else to be here this late.â
The library was a place of refuge for him, a sanctuary away from the prying eyes and expectations of the outside world. Seeing you here, and in such an unexpected way, felt like a strange twist of fate. The vulnerability in your voice was palpable, and it drew him in, compelling him to stay longer than he might have otherwise. âI didnât mean to intrude,â you continued, your voice barely above a whisper. âI was just... getting a few more books before heading back.â
Harry nodded, his gaze not leaving you. âNo, itâs fine. Iâve been spending a lot of time here lately. Itâs peaceful.â There was a pause, the silence between you filled with the distant hum of the libraryâs quiet atmosphere. Harry could see the way your eyes darted around, perhaps anxious or simply uncomfortable. The contrast between your nervousness and his own hesitation created a quiet tension, one that seemed to draw them closer.
âSo,â Harry began, trying to break the ice, âWhat are you reading? Or... studying, I guess?â The question was simple, but it opened the door for conversation, allowing both of you to escape the awkwardness of the moment. He hoped that, perhaps, talking about something more neutral might help bridge the gap between you and him.
Harryâs breath hitched as you closed the gap between you, your hand brushing against his chest and your fingers lightly gripping his tie. The proximity was electrifying, and he could feel the warmth of your body against his, a stark contrast to the cool air of the library. His heart raced, a mix of excitement and apprehension coursing through him. Your voice, soft and almost seductive, drew him in further. âYou know...â He swallowed hard, his eyes locked onto yours, trying to make sense of the sudden shift in your demeanor. âWhat... what do you mean?â he asked, his voice barely more than a whisper. The library, once a haven of solitude, now seemed to pulse with a different kind of energy, one that was both thrilling and nerve-wracking.
The space between you was almost nonexistent, and Harry could feel the heat radiating from your body. His mind raced with questions and possibilities, unsure of what to expect but unable to pull away. The libraryâs shadows seemed to deepen, adding to the intensity of the moment. âWhatâs going on?â he managed to ask, his voice trembling slightly as he tried to keep his composure.
Harryâs eyes widened slightly at your confession, his mind racing to process your words. The pink flush on your cheeks was unmistakable, adding to the growing intensity between you. He could barely believe what he was hearing, especially considering the way you had approached him.
âI... I stare?â he managed to stammer, his voice cracking slightly with surprise. The vulnerability in your admission made his heart race even faster, and he struggled to find his voice amidst the whirlwind of emotions.
You could see the hesitation in his eyes, but also a glimmer of something deeperâa curiosity, perhaps, or a hint of hope. Your fingers, still lightly touching his tie, gently encouraged him to close the distance between you even further.
âYes,â you said softly, your voice carrying a blend of shyness and determination. âI noticed. And honestly, Iâve been thinking about it. About you.â You took a deep breath, gathering the courage to continue. âItâs not just about the way you look at me. Itâs more about how you make me feel when you do.â Harryâs gaze softened, the tension in his shoulders easing as he took in your words. The library, with its quiet and secluded atmosphere, seemed to wrap around you both, creating a cocoon of intimacy.
âY/N, I...â He paused, his eyes searching yours for any sign of pretense. âI didnât know you felt that way. Iâve always admired you from a distance, but... I didnât think youâd feel the same.â
The uncertainty in his voice was palpable, but there was also a flicker of hope and longing. Your confession had clearly affected him, and he seemed to be grappling with his own feelings as he looked at you. The libraryâs shadows seemed to deepen, heightening the emotional weight of the moment. âAre you sure?â he asked, his voice barely more than a whisper, as if afraid to break the fragile connection between you. âBecause... if you are, then maybe we should... talk about this more. Together.â
Until the sudden noise from the corridor startled both of you. The unmistakable sound of footsteps echoed through the library, breaking the intimate moment you were sharing. Harryâs hand froze beneath your chin, his eyes darting toward the source of the noise with a mix of concern and disappointment.
The libraryâs shadows seemed to dance around you as you both pulled away, the spell of the moment shattered by the intrusion. You exchanged a glance, your heart still racing, and Harryâs face reflected a blend of frustration and urgency. âWe have to... we shouldââ Harry began, his voice hurried as he glanced back at the approaching footsteps. He reached for your hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze before letting go. âWe canât be seen here.â
You nodded, feeling the weight of the interrupted moment but also the lingering excitement of what had almost happened. You quickly gathered yourself, smoothing out your clothes and trying to regain composure. The footsteps grew louder, and you both knew it was time to make a swift exit. With one last meaningful look, Harry gave a small, almost apologetic smile before you both slipped away into the labyrinthine stacks of the library, seeking refuge from the unwelcome interruption.
As you parted ways to avoid detection, the promise of what might have been hung heavily in the air, leaving both of you with a mix of longing and anticipation for what the future might hold.
Harryâs fist collided with Dracoâs face in a sudden burst of anger and defiance. The impact sent Draco stumbling backward, his surprise quickly morphing into a mix of pain and fury. The libraryâs atmosphere shifted from one of tense anticipation to chaotic confrontation.
Dracoâs eyes blazed with indignation as he wiped the blood from his split lip. âHow dare you!â he spat, his voice laced with rage. âYou have no right to touch her!â
Theodore and Mattheo, momentarily stunned, quickly regained their composure. Theodoreâs smirk faded as he stepped in front of Draco, his own anger boiling over. âYou think you can just waltz in here and act like you own the place?â he sneered.
Mattheo, still holding a mocking grin, was quick to chime in. âLooks like Potterâs got a bit of a temper. How amusing.â You moved to stand between Harry and your brother, your voice trembling but determined. âPlease, just let him go. This isnât helping anyone.â
Draco, rubbing his jaw, shot a venomous glare at Harry. âYou think this is over? Youâve just made things worse for yourself.â His voice was low and menacing, filled with the promise of retribution. Harry, breathing heavily, glared back at Draco. âIâm not afraid of you or your threats. Letâs settle this somewhere else, away from here.â You could see the frustration and desperation in Harryâs eyes, a reflection of your own turmoil. âHarry, please. Letâs just go before things get worse.â
The tension in the library was palpable, each of you caught in a complex web of emotions and conflicting loyalties. Draco, Theodore, and Mattheo seemed ready to pounce, but the realization that the situation was spiraling out of control was clear to all. With a final glance at you, Harry reluctantly stepped back, his anger still simmering but controlled. âFine,â he said through gritted teeth. âLetâs go.â
As you and Harry made your way out of the library, your brotherâs furious eyes followed you. The confrontation left a bitter taste, but it also solidified the resolve between you and Harry. The path forward was uncertain, but the bond between you had been tested and, despite the chaos, had grown stronger.
Outside the library, the cool night air felt like a welcome release, and Harryâs hand found yours again, offering a comforting squeeze. The events of the night had only intensified the feelings between you, leaving both of you with a mixture of relief and anticipation for what lay ahead. But not until Mattheo had the last words in your defense.Â
Mattheoâs voice cut through the chaos, his frustration evident as he tried to intervene between Draco and Harry. âYouâre such an asshole!â he shouted, his anger palpable. The libraryâs peaceful ambiance was now a battleground of shouts and clashing spells, and the situation seemed to escalate by the second.
Draco and Harry were locked in a heated struggle, their spells and curses lighting up the library like a chaotic light show. Theodore was trying to separate them, but his efforts were in vain as the two continued their relentless battle. The intensity of their fight was palpable, each movement fueled by a mix of personal vendettas and raw emotions.
Mattheo, seeing that his attempts to break up the fight were futile, resorted to threats. âIâll tell Father about this!â he roared, his voice filled with menace. âYouâll regret this!â
Despite Mattheoâs threats, Harry and Draco were too caught up in their conflict to heed his warnings. The air crackled with magical energy, and the sounds of spellcasting and grunts of exertion echoed through the libraryâs aisles.
Amidst the commotion, you felt a mix of panic and determination. You stepped between the combatants, your voice rising above the din. âEnough! This has to stop!â you shouted, trying to grab their attention.
But your words were lost in the chaos. It was clear that neither Draco nor Harry was willing to back down easily. The libraryâs tranquility was shattered, and the once-serene study space was now a scene of conflict and anger.
Realizing that a more drastic approach was needed, you tried to summon your own magic, casting a powerful barrier between the two fighters. âStop it now!â you commanded, your voice filled with authority. The barrier shimmered with a protective light, momentarily halting the duel and forcing both Harry and Draco to take a step back. The sudden ceasefire gave everyone a chance to catch their breath, but the tension was far from resolved.
Mattheo, still seething with anger, glared at you. âThis isnât over,â he warned, his voice dripping with venom. âIâll make sure of it.â With a final, furious look at Draco and Harry, you turned to lead Harry away from the scene. âCome on,â you said urgently. âWe need to get out of here before things get worse.â
Harry, still breathing heavily and with a look of determination in his eyes, followed you out of the library. As the two of you exited into the night, the cold air felt like a balm against the heated emotions of the confrontation. The events of the night had left a mark on both of you, but the bond between you had been tested and strengthened in the face of adversity. The path ahead was uncertain, but together you faced it with a renewed sense of resolve and connection.
The scene in the library had reached a fever pitch of chaos and confusion. Despite your desperate attempts to intervene, the fight between Draco and Harry had become almost uncontrollable. Each spell and curse seemed to add fuel to the fire, and even with your friends and Professor Snape now involved, the confrontation continued to spiral out of control.
Professor Snape's authoritative voice cut through the tumult, commanding the situation with a chilling firmness. âHospital, now,â he ordered, his tone brooking no argument. His presence brought a semblance of order to the chaotic scene, and he quickly took charge, guiding Draco and Harry toward the hospital wing.
You reached out to Harry, your voice trembling with concern as you tried to hold onto him. âHarry, please, let me helpââ His response was strained but resolute. âDonât,â he said, his voice edged with pain and exhaustion. He pushed your hand away gently but firmly, signaling his desire to deal with the aftermath on his own terms.
Feeling helpless, you watched as Snape and the others escorted Draco and Harry out of the library. The corridorâs dim light cast long shadows, and the tension hung heavy in the air as they moved toward the hospital wing. You were left standing alone, the aftermath of the confrontation weighing heavily on you. Your friends gathered around, their faces reflecting a mix of concern and confusion. Hermioneâs hand found yours, squeezing it reassuringly. âWe need to make sure theyâre okay,â she said softly, her eyes full of empathy.
You nodded, though your mind was a storm of conflicting emotions. The fight had revealed deep-seated tensions and unresolved feelings, and now, all you could do was hope that the woundsâboth physical and emotionalâcould be healed. As you made your way toward the hospital wing, you couldnât shake the feeling of dread that settled in your chest. The night had taken a turn that none of you had anticipated, and the road to resolution seemed fraught with challenges.
The hospital wing's door loomed ahead, and you braced yourself for what lay beyond. The events of the evening had left scars that would take time to heal, but you knew that facing them was the only way forward. With a deep breath, you steeled yourself and stepped into the unknown, ready to support those you cared about and navigate the complexities of the relationships that had been strained by the nightâs events.
The next morning, you hadnât slept a wink. Mattheo found you alone in the common room, your sleepless night evident in the dark circles beneath your eyes. âDidnât sleep?â he asked gently. You didnât respond, your whole demeanor blank and distant. He sighed, understanding why you were silent and why you hadn't spoken to Theodore, Blaise, or Enzo.
âLook,â he continued, âI tried to tell your brother it was a bad idea. Even Pansy would agree with me. We were all against itâknew how you felt about Potter. And though everyone might think otherwise...â He paused, waiting for you to meet his gaze. When you finally did, your eyes glassy and weary, he added, âIâm genuinely glad to be the first to hear that you and Potter are together.â His smile was warm, sincere, and offered a small beacon of comfort.
âBut... what about Draco?â you asked, your voice tinged with uncertainty. Mattheo raised an eyebrow, immediately understanding who you were referring to. âDraco? Forget him. Weâll figure something out. If we need to keep your relationship a secret, so be it. I just want you to be happyâme, Theodore, everyone else.â His words were sincere, and you hugged him tightly, your face pressed against his chest.
âFinally, the peepsqueak is awake,â Theodoreâs voice cut through the moment, a smile on his lips. He looked relieved to see you up. âWhere were you?â you asked, feeling a mix of exhaustion and curiosity. âIn the hospital wing. Harryâs been given a day off. He wants to see you.â Despite Theodoreâs attempts to sound upbeat, you could sense the undercurrent of concern in his tone. A sigh escaped you, unsure if you were ready to face Harry. But Mattheoâs reassuring squeeze and the silent nod of support convinced you to go.
Harry sat on the hospital bed, Hermione at his side while Draco slept nearby, his presence barely acknowledged. âIâm sure she wasnâtâŠâ Hermione whispered, trying to keep her voice low as Draco shifted restlessly in his sleep. âFrom what youâve told me, it seems more likely that he set her up. RegardlessâŠâ
Harryâs gaze shifted, and he noticed you standing there, looking even more fragile than the night before, a clear sign of the toll it had taken on you. Hermione, who had been speaking, fell silent as Harryâs eyes met yours.Â
âIf you want to see him, heâs here,â Harry said, his voice carrying a hint of threat. âIt would be helpful if you picked him up.â Hermioneâs reaction was swift; she slapped Harry gently on his wounded arm, her disapproval evident. Although you appreciated the offer, you barely acknowledged it. Your focus remained on Harry. âHarryâŠâ
His eyes closed tightly, a clear sign of his struggle to process your words. âHarry⊠please listen to me,â you pleaded, your voice trembling as you fought back tears. A choked sob slipped through your lips. âI didnât know anything about it, not even the prank. My brother mentioned something about you, yes⊠But never in a thousand years would I have thought it would come to this, especially when I was about to confess my love for youâŠâ
His eyelids softened as he listened, his anger wavering. âAnd the fight... After you were taken away by Snape, Mattheoâstrange as it may seemâis on our side. He trusts you with his life, more than...â Your gaze shifted nervously from him to your brother. With a hint of disgust, you added, âMore than him.â
Harry paused, a heavy silence settling between you. Hermione nudged him, silently urging him to speak. His brow arched in questioning, âYou meant it?â His voice was filled with a mix of hope and disbelief.Â
âYes,â you replied, your voice steady despite the turmoil inside.
âEverything.âÂ
As you approached quietly, Harry flinched slightly at your sudden presence. Hermione took her cue and left, giving you a reassuring smile before exiting. You settled beside his bed, reaching out for his hand. Though he tried to pull away, the connection was too strong to resist. He loved you, despite everything.
"Harry James Potter," you said softly, using his full name as you leaned in, echoing the intimacy of the previous night. "I loved you from the very first moment. Will you accept this kiss?"
Harry's heart swelled with a mix of affection and relief. A gentle chuckle escaped him as he cupped your face, his smile tender and sincere. "You may, Y/N Malfoy."Â
With that, he leaned in, meeting your lips with his, sealing the promise of his love.
Dear Prudence
Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play? Dear Prudence, greet the brand new day The sun is up, the sky is blue It's beautiful and so are you
The first thing Remus noticed, were the letters.
âHey, sunshineâ Remus smiled when he spotted you as he entered the Great Hall.
âHi moonshineâ you smiled back at him.
âYou know thatâs not what you think it is, right?â
âYes, it is. I am the sun and you are the moonâ you insisted as he rolled his eyes a little.
âWhatever you say, loveâ he chuckled as the two of you reached the other three Marauders sitting at the Gryffindor table.
âHey Jamie, I think our envelopes got mixed upâ you said, walking over to your brother.
âHey, bugâ he smiled at you. âHow do you know?â he asked, grabbing the envelope in front of him. âThis one says my nameâ he said, confused as Remus sat down next to your brother.
âYeah, this one also says James. F. Potterâ you said, showing it to him. âBut it feels a lot more pages than mine and it has those golden star stickers mum always puts on yours, Goldieâ you smirked, mocking him and switching the letters.
âOh, Goldie! I love that, I am calling you that from now on!â Sirius laughed.
âShut up, Padfoot!â James said, hitting his arm as you opened the letter James had and saw your name inside.
âYep, this oneâs mineâ you told him, taking out the single page.
âWould you like to sit down with us?â Remus offered, smiling brightly at you. So, of course, you couldnât refuse.
âWhy thank you, Remus, that is very kind of youâ you said sitting between him and James, hitting your brotherâs arm in the process.
âHey! What did I do?â he asked, with his mouth half-full.
âThatâs where you got that from?â Sirius asked, glaring at you a little as James opened his envelope and Remus caught at least four pages coming out of it. He didnât want to obviously point that out, so he asked something different instead.
âHow come both envelopes were addressed to James?â he asked, making you look up at him and you answered before James could.
âMum writes to him so much, she made the envelopes, especially for himâ you smirked, pinching his cheek and your brother quickly snapped your hand away.
âThatâs not true!â he argued, with a hint of blush on his cheeks.
âIsnât it? She writes to you at least twice a weekâ you mocked him. âI bet nobody else in the entire school comes close to how many letters you getâ you told him.
âShe writes to you too!â
âYeah, every other weekâ you said, rolling your eyes and going back to your letter. âAnd even then she always asks about youâ you said, showing it to him.
âThatâs not true!â
âWanna bet?â
âFine! Five Galleonsâ James smirked proudly. You quickly went back to your letter, quickly spotting Jamesâ name.
âAh-ha! Here we areâ you smirked back at him. ââMake sure to take care of Jamie and give him a big kiss and hug for meââ you said, pointing the sentence at the bottom of your letter as James blushed furiously. âAw, câmere, Jamie, gimmie a kissâ you said, throwing your arms around his shoulders and peppering his cheek with kisses while the other three Marauders laughed.
âUgh, get off me, you annoying bug!â he said pushing you away and making you crash into Remus, who quickly wrapped his arms around your waist so you wouldnât fall.
âS-sorry, Remâ you said, feeling your cheeks burn as he helped you up.
âNo problem, loveâ he smiled. âAre you okay?â
âYeahâ you chuckled.
âWell, you two are simply the sweetest thing in the worldâ you heard Sirius from across the table.
âShut up, Sirius!â
âShut up, Padfoot!â
The second thing Remus noticed, were the family dinners.
During Christmas break, it was not surprising at all that the entire group of Marauders were residing at the Pottersâ house. This year, Mrs. Potter had even got each of them a stocking, which he later found out had been your request, and Remus felt happier than he had in years. Since his mum passed away, he and his father never really liked celebrating Christmas anymore, so the feeling of this home made him warm inside and he loved it. And he especially loved spending more time with you, even if you were locked in your room most of the time.
âJames, darling, where is your sister? Dinner is almost readyâ he looked up from his book when Mrs. Potter came into the living room.
âProbably locked in her roomâ James shrugged.
âWell, could you go get her, please love?â
âJust a second, mum, Iâm about to beat Padfootâ James smirked as they played Chess.
âI can goâ Remus offered, marking the page on his book and getting up.
âThank you so much, Remus. It is lovely to have actual help around hereâ she said, before messing Jamesâ hair as he complained to his mother.
Remus chuckled and went upstairs to your room. He had realized this was probably the only room in your entire house he had never seen, aside from your parentsâ room. He suddenly found himself feeling extremely curious to see how your room was. And why you insisted on spending so much time on it. He gently knocked on your door but he didnât receive any response. It didnât come as a surprise since he could hear the music blasting from the other side. He smiled when he recognized the song. It had become kind of your thing. He knew you loved muggle music and he loved introducing you to it.
Wouldn't it be nice if we were older? Then we wouldn't have to wait so long And wouldn't it be nice to live together? In the kind of world where we belong?
His smile grew wider when he heard your voice on top of the original song and he tried to knock harder but still, no response. So, he carefully opened the door. Whatever Remus had in mind about your room (which he may or may not think about more than he would like to admit) he never pictured this. Your room was as big as Jamesâ if not a bit bigger, but you had a lot more windows and a lot more colors, by far. Jamesâ room was decorated with Gryffindor colors and Quidditch teams he loved. But yours? Yours had paintings everywhere. Every wall. Top to bottom. Even some parts of your ceiling. How did you ever get to paint that high? He may never know. You were currently painting the side of your window with colorful flowers. Peonies. Your favorite.
You know it's gonna make it that much better When we can say goodnight and stay together
Wouldn't it be nice if we could wake up In the morning when the day is new? And after having spent the day together Hold each other close the whole night through
âUm, sunshine?â
âRemus° you turned to him, smiling brightly. Remus had never seen you so beautiful. You had possibly every single color in your pallet all over your face, your clothes, and your hands. âSorry, I didnât hear youâ you said, walking over to your record player and making the song stop.
âYeah, I figured as muchâ he chuckled. âWhat are you doing?â
âOh, I get really bored of my walls every now and then, and I start all over againâ you explained. âI was in a very flowery moodâ you said, pointing at your latest painting.
âThatâs beautifulâ he told you. âDid you paint all of the rooms in your house?â
âYes, except Jamieâsâ you explained. âHe said Iâm just going to ruin his Quidditch postersâ you said, rolling your eyes. âBut I did the guest roomsâ you said, smiling. âYours was inspired by âThe Little Princeââ you informed him.
âI could tellâ he smiled. âMy favorite book when I was a kidâ he added.
âI remember you telling me thatâ you smiled back.
âDo you know that program on our last year for magical paintings? You should really apply for next yearâ he suggested.
âYou really think so?â you smiled and he nodded. âI have⊠actually been thinking about itâ you informed him.
âYou shouldâ he smiled.
âI mightâ you smirked.
âUm, your mum says dinnerâs almost readyâ he informed you.
âOh, really? I must have lost track of timeâ you said, walking into your room to wash your hands.
âIâm glad you liked your Christmas presentâ he said, shyly, looking at the Beach Boysâ record that was playing not long ago.
âI love itâ you said, coming back out. âDid you like yours?â
âIâm halfway doneâ he said, remembering the book he was just reading downstairs.
âAlready?â
âI canât put it downâ he smiled as you got closer to him.
âIâm glad you liked itâ you smiled, making him chuckle when he saw you still had paint on your face.
âUm, you still have some-â he said, pointing at his left cheek. âHereâ he said, grabbing the towel from your hand and carefully cleaning it up.
âThanks, moonshineâ you smiled.
âHey, Mrs. Potter said-â Sirius came bursting into your room, smirking at the scene in front of him. âAm I interrupting something?â he asked, as the two of you jumped apart. You saw Remusâ cheeks blushing and you felt yours burning a little.
âN-no-â
âWe were just- um- on our wayâ Remus quickly said, before he left the room. You nodded, grabbing one of your books, and were about to follow him, but Sirius blocked your way.
âYou know, you should just tell him already, Bambiâ he said. âWe both know heâs too shy to make the first move, plus he thinks your brother is gonna kill himâ he said.
âMhm, or maybe, he just doesnât feel the same way about meâ you insisted. âAnd you promised you wouldnât say anything!â you glared at him.
âI havenât!â he said, offended. âAnd you have to be joking, right, have you really not seen the way he looks at you with his goofy smile, sunshineâ he said, mocking Remusâ voice and making you punch him in his arm. âOuch! Would you stop that?â
âItâs not my fault. You moved here and decided to become my other annoying brother, so you have to pay the consequencesâ you smirked before you left your room and Sirius rolled his eyes, following you.
âWhy did you bring your book?â Remus asked, confused when you sat down next to him and placed your book on the table.
âWell, it kinda gets boring when the conversation turns to Quidditchâ you informed him.
He frowned a little confused, but quickly understood what you meant. Throughout the entire dinner, your parents had revolved the entire conversation about James. They first asked how school was, to which all of you replied, he and the rest of the Marauders included. Followed by if you were dating someone. And then, Quidditch. Remus realized you hadnât even spoken for about forty-five minutes. Your parents even asked Sirius, Peter, and him some questions, but not you. He turned to look at you and saw you immersed in your book. He slowly smiled and then felt a kick in his leg. He turned to glare at Sirius sitting in front of him who was smirking and nodded his head towards you.
âWhatâs your book about?â he asked. It took you a moment to register that someone was actually talking to you before you lifted your head and turned to look at Remus.
âOh, um-â you smiled shyly. âItâs a romance novel, I wouldnât want to bore youâ you chuckled.
âYou wouldnât bore me, sunshineâ he insisted. When you smiled brightly at him, it gave him the courage to hold your hand in his underneath the table as you started talking about the plot of the book you were reading. He absolutely loved the way your face brightened when you talked about something you liked and that you had his full attention. He could not deny it any longer, he was definitely in love with you.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
The third thing Remus noticed, was the birthday presents.
âHi Remâ you smiled, opening your dorm. âWhat are you doing here?â
âMe? What are you doing here? You left your own birthday partyâ he chuckled.
âWell, you know I donât like partiesâ you chuckled. âJames makes a whole fuss about our birthdays but itâs mostly for himâ you insisted. âI bet nobody even noticed I leftâ you said.
âI didâ he said, making your cheeks burn a little.
âUm⊠would you like to come in?â you asked, opening the door. âIâm watching an old movie that Alice lent meâ you smiled. âI got pastries from the Kitchensâ you said, making him smile.
âHow could I say no to that?â he asked, following you inside. âI also wanted to give you your presentâ he said, making you look back at him.
âYou got me a present? Remus, you didnât have to get me anythingâ you smiled.
âYes, I did. Itâs your birthdayâ he said, as if it was obvious. âIâm sure you got so many presents already, but one more couldnât hurtâ he said, shyly.
âNot muchâ you shrugged. âJamie gave me my badger slippersâ you said, showing them to him. âAnd I gave him lion onesâ you giggled. âSirius gave me chocolate, oh, Alice gave me new paintsâ you said, pointing at them excitedly. âAnd Lily gave me a new perfumeâ you smiled.
âOhâ he frowned, confused. âWhat about your parents?â
âOh, my dad sent me this bookâ you said, showing him a familiar book, he knew you had already talked with him about. âI mentioned to him it was my favorite so he got me oneâ you explained. âI donât really have it in my heart to tell him I already have itâ you chuckled.
âAnd your mom?â he asked, extremely confused. He counted at least twenty presents for James from your parents.
âMy mum usually gives me some of her jewelry she knows I love, but she doesnât like to send it through mail so she gives it to me when I come home for the summerâ you explained.
âOh⊠is⊠that it?â he asked, without really thinking.
âWhat do you mean?â you asked, confused.
âNothing. Sorry, I didnât mean anything I just- um- I donât want to cross a line or anything itâs just-â
âLet me guess, Jamie got about thirty presents from my parentsâ you smiled sadly.
âYeahâ he said, awkwardly. âLook, you know I love your parents. They are some of the kindest people Iâve met, and I know I donât have any siblings but⊠I just donât think itâs fair that they favor James over youâ he said, sadly.
âLook, itâs fine. I know my parents love meâ you smiled. âJust⊠probably not as much as Jamesâ you chuckled. âIâve actually learned itâs not the worst thing. I get zero pressure from them. Last year, I was really worried because I didnât do well on one of my Herbology tests-â
âBecause everything you touch dies?â Remus smirked, earning a glare from you.
âAs I was saying⊠I was going to tell them when we came home for the Holidays, but they were so upset that James had lost the last Quidditch match, that they didnât even say anything to meâ you shrugged. âI can literally do anything I want whenever I want and they wonât really mind. I mean, Iâm pretty sure I can even date whomever I want but the day James gets a serious girlfriend, my mum may actually dieâ you told Remus, making him laugh a little. âIt used to bother me a lot, but⊠they do show me that they love me in different waysâ you explained. âBut I think itâs really sweet you care about thatâ you smiled at him.
âWell, of course I do. Youâre my favorite person in the worldâ he blurted out.
âI am?â you asked, feeling your heart flutter.
âOf course you areâ he smiled.
âI think⊠youâre the first person in my life that has liked me more than Jamesâ you said, feeling a few tears in your eyes. âSorry, thatâs stupid-â
âItâs notâ he assured you, pulling you closer and wiping away your tears. âAnd I really mean itâ he smiled. âHappy birthday, sunshineâ he said, giving you his present.
âMoonshineâ you smiled, opening it. âRemusâ you said, feeling your eyes welling up. âIs this-?â
âYesâ he smiled, grabbing The Beatlesâ record from you and putting it on your record player. âI know this is your favorite song and itâs also mine because it reminds me of youâ he said as the guitar started playing. âWould you like to dance with me?â
âReally?â you asked, excitedly.
âOnly because itâs your birthdayâ he said as you grabbed his hand and walked to the middle of your dorm.
Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play? Dear Prudence, greet the brand new day The sun is up, the sky is blueIt's beautiful, and so are you Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play?
âWhy does this song remind you of me?â you asked curiously.
âWell, I read that the song was written about Prudence Farrow-â
âWho is Mia Farrowâs less famous little sister? Wow, Remus-â
âNo, thatâs not whyâ he glared a little at you. âI mean she is but, thatâs not whyâ he insisted.
âSo?â
Dear Prudence, open up your eyes Dear Prudence, see the sunny skies The wind is low, the birds will sing That you are part of everything Dear Prudence, won't you open up your eyes?
âDid you apply to the art programâ he asked, making you smile at him.
âYou remembered that?â
âOf course, I doâ he frowned. âI remember everything you tell meâ he insisted.
âWell⊠I didâ you told him. âI should be hearing about it during summerâ you informed him.
âIâm sure youâll get in, sunshineâ he said, kissing your forehead.
Look around, around (round, round, round) Look around, around, around (round, round) Look around
âWell, it was written because she would rarely come out of her bungalow while she meditated. Itâs kind of like you and your paintingsâ he smiled.
âIâm not that badâ you scoffed offended.
âLove, I had to come up three times a day every day on Christmas break so you wouldnât forget to eatâ he reminded you.
âOh, and here I was thinking you came to get me because you missed meâ you pouted.
âThat tooâ he assured you.
Dear Prudence, let me see you smile Dear Prudence, like a little child The clouds will be a daisy chain So let me see you smile again Dear Prudence, won't you let me see you smile?
âI really love this songâ you smiled. âAnd my birthday giftâ you added. âAnd um-â you said, feeling your cheeks burn as you looked away. âC-can I tell you something?â you asked, nervously.
âYou can tell me anything, loveâ he assured you.
âO-okay, you donât have to say anything and⊠if itâs weird you can just leave and not talk to me ever again, and⊠itâs not just because you said you liked me more than James b-but itâs been something that I have felt for a while and I just-â
âSunshineâ he said, cupping your cheek and making you stop your ramble. âI love you tooâ he smiled, making your entire body feel like you were on cloud nine.
âY-you do?â you asked, still not believing him.
âI really doâ he said, leaning in to kiss you.
Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play? Dear Prudence, greet the brand new day The sun is up, the sky is blue It's beautiful, and so are you Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play?
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
âYeah, go get settled, Moony! Weâll wait for you outsideâ James said as Remus walked upstairs to put his things away. After tossing everything in there really, he quickly found himself in front of your door again. James had invited him to stay over the summer and it had been two weeks without you. Two weeks too long. He smiled as the music blasted on the other side of the door, only this time, he opened it and walked in.
My, my, I tried to hold you back, But you were stronger Oh, yeah, and now it seems My only chance is giving up the fight
And how could I ever refuse? I feel like I win when I lose
Waterloo, I was defeated, you won the war Waterloo, promise to love you for ever more Waterloo, couldn't escape if I wanted to Waterloo, knowing my fate is to be with you
Wa-Wa-Wa-Wa-Waterloo Finally facing my Waterloo
Remus smiled to himself before he walked over to you, pulling your paintbrush away from your hand and making you turn around frowning, but you quickly smiled when you saw it was him.
âMoonshine!â you smiled, throwing your arms around his shoulders and he quickly wrapped his around your waist, twirling you around and planting a big kiss on your lips.
âHey, sunshineâ he smiled when you pulled away. âI missed youâ he said, giving you another peck on the lips.
âI missed you tooâ you smiled, pulling him closer. âHow has your summer been?â
âPretty boring, to be honestâ he chuckled. âI see you kept yourself busyâ he said, twirling your paintbrush in his hand. âProngs and Padfoot said you played Quidditch with them yesterdayâ he chuckled.
âYeah, they made meâ you rolled your eyes.
âHave you⊠told your brother about us?â
âNoâ you pouted. âYou said we would tell him togetherâ you reminded him. âYou know itâs gonna be fine, right?â
âYeah, I know. Sirius just keeps insisting he will kill meâ he laughed nervously.
âI wonât let that happenâ you said, kissing his cheek. âI promiseâ you smiled sweetly.
âSo, what are you painting?â
âOh! Iâve been waiting to tell youâ you said, excitedly. âI got into the art program!â
âYou did? Love, thatâs amazing! I knew you could do it!â he said, hugging you again and giving you a small kiss. âIâm so proud of you!â
âThanks, Remmyâ you smiled. âYouâre the first person Iâve toldâ you smiled.
âI am? Why didnât you tell anyone?â
âOh, well, I actually told my parents when we got here, but James won the Quidditch Cup and there are⊠about ten Quidditch teams wanting to recruit him so⊠I donât think they heard me or even knew what I was talking aboutâ you said, smiling sadly. âSirius said it sounded cool, thoughâ you told him.
âIâm sorry, loveâ he said, pulling you closer.
âItâs okay. Youâre the one I really wanted to tellâ you smiled, leaning in to kiss him again. âAnd, I have to finish this paintingâ you said, trying to get the brush from him but he put it out of his reach. âRem!â
âI just got here, loveâ he pouted. âWouldnât you rather spend the day with your boyfriend who missed you so much?â
âWell, yes, thatâs why I wanted to finish it before you got hereâ you insisted. âBut James and Sirius kept insisting that I played Quidditch with them yesterday and I didnât get to paintâ you told him but he still placed the brush out of your reach when you tried to grab it. âRemus!â
âWell, you can continue tomorrowâ he said, pulling you to him. âI have been waiting for two whole weeks to kiss my beautiful girlfriendâ he said between kisses, feeling your smile against his lips.
âOkay, I can continue tomorrowâ you said, as he threw the brush on your table and deepened the kiss. âI missed you so muchâ you said, pulling him closer.
âI missed you too, loveâ he smiled.
"Hey bug, have you seen Moony-? BLOODY HELL! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!?" James yelled coming inside your room and covering his eyes at the scene in front of him. Remus instantly jumped off you so quickly he fell to the floor as Sirius came in running behind James when they heard the yelling.
"Why are you yell-? oh bloody hell!" he smirked when he saw Remus standing up and saw that both of seemed very nervous.
"I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!" James yelled to Remus and started running after him with his wand pointing at his neck but you stepped in between.
"Jamie, stop!"
"Get out of the way bug!" your brotherâs voice was dangerously low.
"Prongs, calm down" Remus said trying not to show how nervous he really was.
"Calm down?!" James snapped. "That's MY sister!"
"Jamie, please, calm down!" you said also a little nervous.
"YOU SHUT UP!"
"Don't yell at her!" Remus snapped.
"Mate, I would shut up if I were you" Sirius told him.
"ALL OF YOU, SHUT UP!" you yelled at all of them.
âIâm going to kill you!â James yelled at Remus before he started chasing him around your room. Remus quickly ran out with James following him.
âI told you, he would find out sooner or laterâ Sirius smirked.
âYou are of no use to me right now, SIrius!â you said, punching his arm as you followed your brother and your boyfriend. Sirius quickly walking behind you.
âJames, what is going on? Whatâs with all the yelling?â you saw your mother and father come inside the living room where James was still chasing Remus and throwing jinxes at him.
âStop it!â you yelled running over to your brother and grabbing his arm.
âGet off me!â he complained as Remus ran over to Sirius, hiding behind him.
âYouâre being ridiculous!â you said, trying to reach for his wand but he placed it out of your reach. However, you clung yourself to him, trying your best to get it.
âWhat in Merlinâs name are you two kids doing?â your father asked, confused. It was rare to see the two of you fight like this nowadays.
âLet go!â he said, as your hand reached for his wand.
âYou let go!â you complained.
âItâs my wand!â
âGimmie it!â
âAlright, stop it! Both of you!â your motherâs voice was heard through the room as she pointed her wand at the two of you, separating you, and making Jamesâ wand fly into her hand.
âHe started it!â
âShe started it!â
âI donât care who started it! I want to know whatâs going on and I want to know now!â your mother said, with her hands on her waist.
âWhy donât you ask your daughter how she betrayed me!â James said, glaring at you.
âOh, please! Grow up, James! Youâre being ridiculous!â
âThatâs enough!â your father intervened. âYour mother asked you a question. What is wrong with the two of you?â
âShe stole my best friend!â James said, pointing at you accusingly.
âWhat? I did no such thing!â
âAnd I thought I was your best friendâ Sirius added, offended while Remus rolled his eyes.
âJames, sweetheart what are you talking about?â your mother asked, confused.
âWell, mum, I just found your daughter, my so-called sisterâ he said glaring at you as you rolled your eyes and crossed your arms in front of your chest. âKissing my best friend!â
âJames!â
âExcuse me?â your father said, a bit upset, throwing daggers at the two boys behind your mother.
âFleamont, darling, calm downâ she said, to her husband before turning to you. âSweetheart, would you care to explain yourself?â your mother asked you, calmly.
âFirst of all, Jamie is making it a bigger deal than it isâ you complained.
âNo, Iâm not!â
âYes, you are!â
âWere you or were you not just kissing Moony upstairs?â
âWhat?â your father asked again, but your mother stopped him.
âWell?â James asked, arching his eyebrow at you.
âI⊠was⊠kissing⊠my⊠boyfriendâ you said, feeling your cheeks burning.
âExcuse me?â your father asked, baffled.
âBoyfriend?â James asked.
âRemus is your boyfriend?â your mother asked, excitedly.
âYou canât have a boyfriend! Youâre too young!â your dad complained.
âAnd it canât be my best friend!â James added.
âHurtful, Prongs. Really hurtfulâ Sirius glared at him.
âOh, hush, all of youâ your mother said, rolling her eyes. âFleamont, you and I were their age when we started datingâ she reminded your father. âAnd James, you should be happy that your sister is with one of your best friends. Remus is a wonderful guyâ she smiled at Remus who felt just a little less nervous.
âThanks, Mrs. Potterâ he said, blushing a little.
âIâm so happy for you two. Sweetheart, why didnât you tell us?â she asked you.
âWell, I didnât really know how to because I knew James would throw a fit about itâ you said, rolling your eyes.
âI did not throw a fit-â
âJames, thatâs enoughâ your mother told him. âLeave your sister aloneâ she scowled.
âBut mum-â
âBut nothing. Sheâs happy and so is Remus and we are all happy for them and thatâs itâ she insisted.
âI donât even get a say in it?â
âNo, why would you get a say in your sisterâs love life?â
âAt least she has a love lifeâ Sirius laughed.
âHey!â James complained.
âGood one, sonâ your dad laughed with Sirius.
âWhat is happening?â James asked, upset before he started going upstairs. âI do not like this one bit!â you heard before he slammed his door.
âDonât listen to him, sweet peaâ your dad said, smiling kindly at you. âWe are happy for youâ he admitted, kissing your head. âBut Remus is not allowed in your room and you are not allowed in his, or the two of you alone in a room, understood?â he frowned.
âYes, dadâ you smiled.
âYes, sirâ Remus replied at the same time.
âGoodâ he smirked proudly.
âIâm so happy for you, sweetheartâ your mother said, hugging you.
âThanks, mumâ you smiled.
âYou too, Remusâ she said, kissing his cheek.
âThank you, Mrs. Potterâ he smiled before she left with your dad.
âIâd like to say that went wellâ Sirius smirked as you sat with Remus on the sofa and he kissed your forehead while Sirius sat on the chair.
âTo be honest, thatâs the best I could have asked forâ Remus chuckled.
âIt felt weird to have so much attention on meâ you admitted as Remus kissed your cheek.
âAlrightâ you heard Jamesâ voice coming down the stairs again. âI have decided that I approve thisâ he said in a serious tone, sitting closer to Sirius.
âYou do know we donât need your approval, right?â you said, glaring a little at him.
âBut there will be no kissing in front of meâ he glared at the two of you. âThatâs just gross!â
âFair enough, Prongsâ Remus chuckled, kissing the side of your head.
âI just want to say that I am still hurt about your comments made earlierâ Sirius said, sounding offended.
âYou knew about them the entire time, didnât you?â James glared at him.
âAnd I forgive you because thatâs what best friends do, Prongsieâ he smiled innocently.
âFine, I forgive you tooâ James said, rolling his eyes as Sirius hugged him, kissing his cheek. âGet off, you goof!â
âThis is going to be a long summer, isnât it?â Remus asked you.
âYes, I am so happy youâre hereâ you smiled, giving him a peck on the lips.
âHey! What did I just say!?â
âShut up, Jamie!â
Oooo darling!! Your latest TASM fic sparked and idea!
(Before that, hello lovely đ©· i hope you're having the best spooky season!)
Big brother!Sirius coming to save some poor sod that upset his slytherin!sister (Regulus' twin). So you have the charming & fun Sirius; quiet & regal Regulus; loyal & volatile reader. And i imagine Sirius calls them his twin stars (because hes deffinately a huge sap).
Where wolfstar is in 7th year and has a great relationship with the twins (maybe theyre trying to become their legal guardians behind the scenes). He and Remus are in their dorm before Peter bursts in, breathless, only saying "y/n" before Sirius is off. He has no doubt to why you were put in đ, and god forbid someone actually hurt his baby sister.
On reader's side, someone made a snide comment about Remmy being a halfblood or ruining the Black legacy or something and reader gets pissed because shes actually quite fond of him.
Then whatever you decide love; maybe reader gets hurt; maybe she does the hurting; maybe Remus saves the day with his long legs; or Sirius might show people what growing up in the 'Noble house of Black' does to someone. And idk what Reggie is doing, i imagine he was making out with James and they come in at the last minute ("đ± james!! What have you done!? Youve DEFILED one of my precious stars!!! Let go of him!!!! NO, dont touch him, get away.")
Anyway bub, as always; dont feel pressured and take all the creative liberties youd like!! Love you lots darling x
Hi my lovely, thanks for requesting! I really need to get more creative than bloody noses but ugh they're just so classic
cw: blood
big brother!sirius + (as opposed to x, I guess?) little sister!reader ⥠861 words
âYou werenât there!â you insist as Sirius stalks back and forth across the room, tapping his wand against his leg in a quick, restless beat. âHe saidâheââ You look at Remus, the boyâs eyebrows drawn together in concentration and concern as he presses a cloth under your nose, trying to stop the blood thatâs already crusted down your chin. You decide to keep your mouth shut.Â
Remus smiles wryly, and you know he suspects why youâve chosen to go quiet. âIt doesnât matter what they said, love. I donât need you getting in fights for me.â
âWho was it?â Sirius demands, for probably the fourth or fifth time. Youâre losing count.Â
âItâs already been handâah!â Remus murmurs an episky while youâre distracted, and you flinch, hands flying to your face as your septum snaps back into its proper place. âFuck, couldâa given me some warning.âÂ
âSorry,â Remus says, and he looks like he means it, tilting your chin up to continue cleaning your face as you look at him with teary eyes. âThought it might hurt less if you werenât expecting it.âÂ
âHow do you figure?â you ask him, somewhat miffed.Â
âBack. On. Task.â Sirius claps his hands with each word, coming to a stop in front of you. âWho did this? Remus is my boyfriend, I have twice as much a right to defend his honor as you do, youâyou fuckingâsquirt.âÂ
You sneer at the childish name, but you know your brother means to rile you. âI told you, I handled it. He wonât do it again.âÂ
âAnd heâs never going to touch you again either,â Sirius promises menacingly, squatting in front of you to look you in the eyes, âif you just tell me the fuckerâs name.âÂ
âAlright, thatâs enough,â Remus says, taking his boyfriendâs shoulder in a spindly hand, the touch both soothing and controlling as he pushes Sirius back from you. âLetâs just let her rest for a minute, yeah?â Sirius sputters in protest, but Remus moves in front of him, pressing his face into his boyfriendsâ dark locks. You roll your eyes at the display, though a tiny part of you loves that your brother has someone who loves him this well. Once he quiets, Remus speaks in a low, soothing voice. âI know, I know, you wonât be deterred from your vengeance, but thereâs time for that later. Letâs just calm down for now.âÂ
Itâs a lovely prospect, but at that moment, the door opens to reveal Regulus and James, both looking somewhat ruffled. James stops short at seeing you all gathered in his dorm (Remus and Sirius, of course, have every right to be here, but youâd bet he and Reg were hoping for some privacy) and stands there blinking for a moment. Your twinâs blasĂ© facade slips the moment he sees you with blood still crusted to your nostrils and tear tracks down your face.Â
âWhat happened?â he asks, pushing past James and into the dorm.Â
âShe got into a fight,â Sirius says, outrage instantly rekindled, and Remus sighs in exasperated resignation, his work undone. âSomeone said something about Moony, but she wonât tell who.âÂ
Now James looks upset too, eyes darting to Remus concernedly. âAbout Moony? When?âÂ
âJust now!â Sirius throws up his hands. âTen minutes ago! Did either of you see anything?âÂ
James shakes his head, and despite Regulusâ blank expression, you catch the embarrassed shifting of his stance. âNo,â James says, âwe were, uhâŠwe didnât see anything.âÂ
âI bet I know who it was though,â Regulus offers, that traitorous scum. Heâs just throwing you under the bus to take the heat off himself.Â
It works; Sirius perks up. âYeah? Who?â
âIt doesnât matter who,â you say, but Sirius cuts you off, facing your twin.Â
âWho?â he asks.Â
âIt was the guy you were arguing with yesterday too, right?â Reg glances at you for confirmation, and you glare at him. Donât you dare, your look says, but he nods and turns back to Sirius. âHeâs your year, the one you guys call Sniââ
âReg and James were coming in here to have sex!â you blurt.Â
Itâs a wonder Sirius doesnât get whiplash from how fast he turns around. âWhat?âÂ
You nod, unable to feel guilty as Regulus gives you an appalled look from behind your older brother. âMhm,â you say. âTheir hair is all messed up, and lookâtheir lips are swollen. Plus, they were surprised we were in here.âÂ
You do feel a tiny bit bad for James, whose dark skin blanches when Sirius turns on him. âJames Potter, did you come in here to defile my brother?âÂ
James looks to Remus for help, but his friend only turns his palms up like Sorry, what can you do?. After a second, Regulus steps closer to him.
âSirius, weââ
âDonât touch him,â Sirius practically retches. He shakes his head, grabbing Regulus by the arm and all but dragging him from the room. âAlright, listen. You are going to tell me who was talking shit about Remus, and then weâre going to have an entirely separate conversation about boundaries.â He casts a noxious look back at James. âAnd Iâll deal with you later!âÂ
