Hi anon!

Gary's mum passed away before James did. He dealt with James' illness and is death completely alone, and couldn't go to his family for support (not least because of the fact that he didn't trust extended family anymore either).

What are your favorite ships in Animorphs? Both canon and non-canon

Man, I think it'd be easier to list the things I don't ship. The within-team dynamics are so intricate and well-written that basically any combo can be made to work. I'm a big fan of the rarepair combo of Rachel/Cassie, Tobias/Marco, and Jake/Ax, but canon makes a strong case for Rachel/Tobias and Jake/Cassie. If we're including minor characters, I've enjoyed writing Rachel/Melissa, Ax/Menderash, Marco/Collette, and Melissa/Tom; I keep meaning to write Marco/Tom, Melissa/Tobias, and James/Jake. Even Tobias/Taylor could make a great horror story if someone felt like writing it.

If we loop in the older generation, then my favorite rarepair is Loren/Chapman. But I've also written Naomi/Loren, Eva/Loren, Eva/Peter, Elfangor/Loren, and Alloran/Jahar; I'm always meaning to write Peter/Elfangor, Elfangor/Arbron, and Michelle/Loren/Walter.

I guess the only things I don't ship are incest (off-putting) and ships that include controllers (consent issues). But like, even then I could probably be convinced by dark crack fic about Visser Three and Visser One hatebanging.

National Geographic Greenlits "The Real Finding Nemo" Documentary Series After Sucess of "A Real Bug's Life"

Earlier this year, National Geographic released a new series called “A Real Bug’s Life”, which was based on the classic Pixar film and following its huge success, Disney has announced that National Geographic has greenlit a brand new documentary series, which is currently going by the working title of “The Real Finding Nemo”

This show will be an intimate and entertaining journey through the thrilling underwater world of charming characters where life is filled with epic drama and relatable life situations. Inspired by Pixar’s smash hit film, this series will immerse viewers in the intricate dynamics of life on the reef and beyond as the underwater citizens engage in friendship, deception, romance, and resilience.

Our ocean characters will transport viewers into the world below with themes that are relevant to sea creatures and human creatures alike. Dive into a clownfish’s epic quest, the unpredictable danger-filled “drop-off,” and experience the everyday jobs that keep Reef City alive like any thriving metropolis in the human world.

Charli promised another Brat remix, and it's a heater: Troye Sivan has jumped on a sugary, UKG-tinged rework of "Talk Talk," featuring uncredited ad libs in French and Spanish from Dua Lipa. Like last month's "Guess" remix featuring Billie Eilish, it's unapologetically R-rated, with Troye using his verse to be horny on main: "So here's the plan/l wanna fly you out to Amsterdam/l've got a big hotel to fuck you in..."

I just wanted you to know that I really like the way you portray grief with James and Gary, it's genuinely heartbreaking and painful to read, it's really good

It's been really important to me to give space to Gary's grief and not try and 'fix' it or make it go away. He gets to love James forever. James was worth that, and it doesn't hurt Gary to learn how to love Efnisien alongside that (even if, right now, Gary doesn't know that it's possible).

I quite like writing heavy grief narratives, I've done it before, though not as often as I actually want to? But yeah I do kind of love a tragic love story or story of heartbreaking loss, where a character has to start over and doesn't really want to. Writing Pitch like this with Seraphina in SAL, and Fyodor in the Golden Age, and Gary with James, just... yeah.

Grief is a lot, and I wish its many myriad ways that it can impact someone was written about more.

A fraternity member who directed monkey noises at a Black University of Mississippi student during an anti-war demonstration was kicked out of the organization on Friday after video of the encounter spread on social media. “Phi Delta Theta General Headquarters is aware of the video regarding the student protest at the University of Mississippi,” the organization wrote in a statement on Sunday. “The racist actions in the video were those of an individual and are antithetical to the values of Phi Delta Theta and the Mississippi Alpha chapter.” “The responsible individual was removed from membership on Friday, May 3.”

The confrontation took place during student demonstrations at the University of Mississippi, or Ole Miss, on Thursday. Protesters gathered to voice their opposition to the U.S.’ support of Israel during the country’s ongoing war against Hamas following the Oct. 7 attacks, part of a growing wave of demonstrations on university campuses around the country. As a small group of students chanted “Free Palestine” and “Stop the Genocide,” they were confronted by a far larger bloc of counter-protesters. Videos of the encounter showed the counter-protest group growing aggressive, surrounding and yelling at the demonstrators. In a disturbing moment, a white student is seen making monkey noises directed at a Black woman as others taunt and cheer.

Videos of the counter-protesters were shared widely on social media and prompted support and adulation from Republicans. Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves (R) said the response “warms my heart.” Rep. Mike Collins (R-Ga.) added his own cheers as the Black student was jeered, writing: “Ole Miss taking care of business.” Jaylin Smith, 24, told CNN she was the woman in the video. The Daily Mississippian, the university’s student newspaper, reported she was called “Lizzo” and various obscenities, with some chanting “Lock her up.”

originally  built  as  a  catholic  church  in  1890  with  shabby  lumber  and  a  foundation  that  could  not  withstand  the  high  coastal  winds,  st.  james  has  since  erected  a  new  facade,  opening  its  arms  to  a  wider  array  of  worshipers.  while  still  falling  under  the  umbrella  of  christianity,  this  chapel  hosts  an  array  of  orators  of  various  faiths,  with  a  night  time  mass  schedule  that  intentionally  captures  the  diverse  beliefs  in  kilmer's  cove.  during  the  day  it  remains  a  quiet  area  of  solitude  and  reverence  for  anyone  seeking  otherworldly  guidance.  just  about  three  hundred  paces  from  the  back  exit  of  the  chapel  sits  the  kilmer  cemetery.  the  wails  of  grieving  spirits  are  supposedly  heard  throughout  the  year,  while  other  times,  passersby  may  believe  there  to  be  a  grand  celebration  of  laughter  and  song,  only  to  take  a  peek  and  realize  that  no  one  is  there.  a  more  specific  haunt,  father  gene  visser,  recently  passed  away  after  serving  the  church  for  nearly  60  yrs.  people  are  said  to  feel  his  presence,  specifically  when  within  what  one  thinks  is  an  empty  confessional  booth.

Gerdie the Super Sim

I've found myself not keeping with my storylines and getting stressed out over taking screenshots the past few months - also my computer has been in use for other things so I couldn't play. But I decided to do a chill Super Sim challenge and I've brought back Gerdie to do it. And it worked - I had fun playing this so I'm going to continue. I'm using James Turner's Super Sim tracker (yes, I link to his site a lot, but I really like the tools he has set up).

I thought about using a totally new Sim for it - getting all the infant, toddler, child & teen milestones - but honestly, that didn't sound much fun so...it's Gerdie, since she had a lot of things out the way all ready. With that thought process, I probably could have gone with one of my Globetrotter Sims since they completed a lot already. But honestly? I missed her. I moved her to a completely new save so I don't have to worry about her past story and her skills/traits would carry over. My plan is also to move her to different worlds and build her a new house, since I really like building and I'll get bored if she has to live in the same place all the time.

No idea how much I'll be screenshotting/posting, but since I finished a season, I thought I'd start keeping track here of all of her accomplishments.

What is being referenced with the Cassie hologram in that cut Eleutherophobia bit you linked earlier? I don't recall any "onscreen" use of the Chee duplicating anyone but Marco+Peter

Oh yeah, that's Erek's role in the endgame. Jake is technically pulling a triple-cross (quadruple cross?) on Visser Formerly-Three in the final battle, using Visser "Seventeen" (the yeerk in Tom). Visser Seventeen thinks the plan is:

V17 doesn't tell V1 the andalite navy is approaching Earth, or that James's big damn attack on the Pool ship is a ruse.

V17 "captures" an Animorph, and brings her on board the Pool ship. In reality he's bringing all 6 Animorphs with him, sneaking them past security.

The Animorphs plan to demorph on the Pool ship and take it from V1. Meanwhile V17 takes the Blade ship, waits for the andalite attack, and fucks off amidst the chaos to go conquer some other planet.

However, Jake's version of the plan accounts for V17 being untrustworthy, and goes more like:

The "captured" Animorph isn't Cassie; it's Erek. Cassie thus isn't in danger from V17. Marco and Ax really are riding "Cassie" through security, but Rachel’s in Tom's hair.

When V17 inevitably announces to V1 that all 6 Animorphs are with "Cassie," Erek pretends to be eaten by taxxon. Tobias makes sure he's the closest "taxxon" on hand when V1 gives the order, to sell the ruse.

The 5 Animorphs on the Pool ship sneak away, remorph in a back room, and take the Pool ship. Rachel rides to the Blade ship on Tom, and makes sure V17 can't get away with it.

Of course there are even more moving pieces than that - James and General Doubledday on the ground, the Hamees hidden on the Pool ship, the hosts they loop into the fight, the taxxon rebels, the way they get Erek's help - but that's why Tom knows the Animorphs can do something hinky with hologram tech.
