How about a fic where Remus falls for reader who is Sirius’ sister? If Sirius freaks out with Regulus and James, just imagine how protective he would be with a sister! Specially if she is sweet and kind (totally opposite of him and Regulus)
will I ever make a sibling fic that isn't chaotic? no, likely not. also, I didn't exactly make her the opposite of Sirius and Regulus but it could be argued that she's better than them anyways. ALSO, I've always refrained from reader-inserts with Black!sister reader simply because I see her as Reggie's twin who looks the way he does, and also can't get beyond the fact that she would have a celestial name SO, in any Black!sister fics going forward, please note that her middle name will have been Soleil which is French for sun, and the boys call her Sunny as a nickname <3
Remus Lupin x Black!sister reader who he has fallen head over heels for [1.5k words]
CW: siblings, threats of murder
Most boys at some point in their lives will be asked the following question:
Are you a mummy’s boy, or a daddy’s boy?
If a boy wasn’t asked such a question, it was likely because the answer was painfully obvious.
“Little Lucius Malfoy is such a daddy’s boy.”
“That James Potter, such a mama’s boy”.
“Oh, sweet Peter Pettigrew, he has always been a mummy’s boy.”
Since the answer was so painfully obvious, neither Sirius Orion Black or Regulus Arcturus Black had ever been asked this question. For them, the answer was simple:
They were their sister’s boy’s.
It was this fact that made Remus Lupin’s current predicament so bloody difficult.
“Where is she!?” Regulus barked as he stormed over to the Gryffindor table where Sirius was sitting beside James across from Remus and Peter.
“Goodmorning, Reggie.” Sirius offered instead of answering his brother.
“For Sala- hi, Sirius. Where is she?”
“Where is who?”
“Your sister.” Regulus spat, causing Sirius’ brows to furrow as he chanced a look over his shoulder at his brother.
“How is she my sister? She’s your twin.”
“Nevermind that, do you know where she is?” Regulus muttered.
Sirius sighed and stood from his seat to scan the Great Hall.
“Nope.” He offered with a pop of the p before returning to his breakfast.
“I’m going to avada that meddling witch!” Regulus hissed as he stormed off; Remus, James, and Peter all watching after him as Sirius continued happily with his toast.
“Are….you not worried about her?” Peter asked cautiously then.
“Not really.” Sirius responded quickly.
James let out a breath at that and shook his head in disbelief. “Siblings are weird, mate.”
“Thanks, Siri.” You chimed as your head popped up between James and Sirius; the former shrieking not unlike a displeased mandrake plant as he clutched at his chest.
Neither you nor Sirius paid him any mind as Sirius nudged his plate closer to you so you could pick from it.
“What’d you do now?” Sirius asked.
“I simply told one of Reg’s admirers that he was already seeing someone; I hardly see what all the fuss is about.” You offered simply, causing Sirius to look at you in bemusement and mutter “Reg is seeing someone?” at the same time James looked at you in horror and hissed “Reg has an admirer!?”
You simply smirked and looked at Remus who was sitting across from you and shot him a wink.
He hoped to all get out that no one noticed the heat radiating in his cheeks as he smiled nervously down at his plate, though he was relatively certain he could feel a set of spectacled eyes burning a hole into the side of his head.
“Wait, why do you look like that?” Sirius asked then, causing the table to look at him to see he was surveying your form.
“Like what?” You asked him slowly, looking down at your uniform as if to see what Sirius could possibly be talking about.
“You look…like…nice.” Sirius muttered as if that was a particularly bad thing.
“I always look nice.” You argued then.
“That’s not true, you usually just look fine.”
“You’re such a git.” You spat, taking the piece of toast he had in his hand and taking a bite of it.
“Doesn’t she just usually only look fine?” Sirius asked then, and Remus was horrified to see he was looking at him.
“Me?”
Sirius nodded impatiently as if saying “yeah? What about it?”
“Why are you asking me?” Remus asked somewhat shrilly.
“You’re objective.”
“And Peter and James aren’t?”
Sirius huffed as he kicked Remus in the shin under the table. “Would you just answer the sodding question?”
“I…well,” and Remus looked at you - you, who always looked nothing short of lovely and radiant and dauntingly perfect in every way, and today had been no exception. But he couldn’t very well say that. “She…she looks fine, yeah.”
Sirius’ brows furrowed further as he turned back to look at you, and Remus tried to pretend he didn’t notice a brief look a hurt cross your features. “You do, though. Look lovely today, that is.” He added awkwardly, simply receiving a half-smile in response.
“Sunny!” Regulus barked then; apparently having found his way back to the Great Hall in his search for you.
“Oh, Merlin and Morgana.” You grumbled as your head fell back in exasperation.
“What did you tell him?”
“Who?” Sirius and James parroted.
“Sunny.” Regulus repeated, his gaze never moving from you as he sidled up behind you. “What did you tell him?”
“Oh, stop with the theatrics, Regulus; you’re embarrassing yourself.” You drawled, sounding like a true upper-classman as you refused to look at your twin.
“What did you tell Fenwick?” He gritted out slowly in a way Remus was sure would make a lesser man cower, but you simply rolled your eyes at him.
“I simply told him that he was grasping at billywigs because you were already seeing someone.”
Regulus held your gaze as you raised your eyebrow at him. “That’s it?”
“That’s it.” You hissed, completely unimpressed.
“Who in the hells are you seeing?” Sirius asked then, causing the two of you to look over at him.
“Nevermind, Siri.” You responded in a bored tone around another bite of his toast.
“I will too mind, thank you very much! Who is my baby brother seeing!?”
“Oh relax, Sirius, there’s no need to call the DMLE; it’s not like Sunny’s seeing anyone.” He chuckled, causing Sirius to snort in laughter.
“That’s true.”
You made a disbelieving sound as you looked between your two brothers. “What in Merlin’s name is that supposed to mean?!”
“That means, my dear baby sister,” Sirius responded curtly as he yanked his toast back from you, “that you must never date, otherwise your big brother will end up in Azkaban.”
“Oh give us a little credit, Sirius; we’d get away with it.” Regulus countered.
“Why!?” You beseeched.
“No one is good enough for you, obviously.” Sirius responded simply, as if you were quite ridiculous for even needing to ask.
“And anyone who thinks otherwise will end up dead.” Regulus continued earnestly, causing James to bark a laugh.
“Don’t worry Moons, Pete and I will make sure your funeral is nice.” He said as he brought another spoon of cereal to his mouth.
Remus felt all blood drain from his face as everyone turned to look at him.
Regulus stared at him in a confused sort of horror, Peter looked at him with a sympathetically worried expression, Sirius didn’t look exactly horrified or disgusted as Remus had thought he would, but he definitely looked disturbed to some level, and you were looking at him with what he thought (and certainly hoped) was hopeful surprise.
James looked up at the silence to see everyone staring at Remus, whilst Remus just stared at him in betrayal.
“James!?” Remus whisper shouted; his voice having apparently run off along with his bollocks.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Regulus finally asked then, staring daggers at Remus as Sirius raised his hand slightly as if warning Regulus off of his best friend, though never removing his own scrutinising gaze from Remus.
“James, what’d you mean by that?” Sirius asked James - eyes still glued to Remus.
“I, well, erm. I’m actually, not entirely sure? I just…well…”
“Do you fancy her, Moony?” Sirius whispered as if it was some horrid joke and so completely unfathomable that Remus could possibly find you as enchanting as he admittedly did.
No, he wanted to say, of course not, Pads. That’s your baby sister, I’d never fall so head-over-heels for the sister of my best friend, that’s absurd.
But that wouldn’t be true.
And he’d already been outed.
His gaze moved to you and offered what he hoped was an apologetic smile before opening his mouth to respond.
“Regulus is shagging James!” You blurted then, causing James to flinch so violently that his knees hit the bottom of the table top, and Regulus deflated severely from where he’d been staring down Remus like some well-trained guard-dragon.
“Are you fucking kidding me!?” Sirius shrieked then, turning to point his glare at someone other than Remus, finally.
Remus had been so caught up in the verbal volleying taking place between Sirius, Regulus, and James that he hadn’t noticed you had disappeared from your spot beside Sirius until you popped back up beside him and were encouraging him up by the sleeve of his uniform jumper.
And you looked so sweet and so lovely and so hopeful and so mischievous and Remus really was helpless in the pull you had on him, which saw him rushing out of the Great Hall with your hand in his as you dragged him away from your brothers and laughing all the while.
So yeah, this made Remus Lupin’s current predicament incredibly bloody difficult.
Because if Sirius and Regulus were sister’s boys, you were your brothers’ girl.
And that made Remus Lupin a dead man walking.

Dad!James Potter x Fem!Reader ☟ 946 words
The way I'm thinking I need to have a universe for these two
“He’s precious! He looks just like his daddy.” Miriam gushes, leaning in closer to Henry. James cringes as his baby boy flinches away, burying his head into his father’s chest and eyeing the woman with uncertainty. Henry's tiny hands clutch James’s shirt, seeking comfort and protection from the unfamiliar face.
James knows Miriam from school, but they have never been close. She has always been the life of the party, a role he once embraced during their Hogwarts days. Now, her enthusiasm feels overwhelming, especially to his shy and sensitive son. Perhaps he has mellowed more than he realizes since then—having a child at 20 would surely do that to you.
Miriam straightens up, placing a manicured hand on his bicep. With a slight pout to her lips, she says softly, “I heard about what happened to you and his mum. It must have been devastating.”
James tenses, his gaze shifting nervously to the store entrance, where he hopes Sirius, Remus, and you will hurry with their shopping and rescue him from this unwelcome conversation. The thought of discussing his ex, who left him and their son behind because she wasn't ready for motherhood, fills him with a mix of frustration and anger. The memory of her sudden departure still stings, and he isn’t eager to relive those painful moments, especially with someone he barely knows.
“Yeah, it’s been tough, but we’re doing just fine without her,” James replies, his tone steady but strained. He takes a deep breath, summoning the courage to gently suggest that Miriam give them some space. “Anyway, Miriam—”
“That’s so unfortunate that he doesn’t have a mum in his life,” Miriam continues, her lashes fluttering flirtatiously at him. James immediately grasps where she is going with this. It’s not the first time his role as a father has attracted unwanted advances, but her bold approach leaves him momentarily stunned. If she had asked him out directly, it might have been different—though he doubts it would have made much of a difference.
“Miriam! Still hitting on unavailable men?” Sirius’s voice rings out with a teasing edge. James turns to see Sirius and Remus emerging from the store. Remus is scanning the receipt but looks up, startled at Sirius’s voice. You must still be browsing in the store.
“Unavailable?” Miriam repeats, her eyebrows raising in surprise. James can’t help but question the same thing, the word echoing in his mind.
“Very much so,” Sirius says with a firm nod as he and Remus come to stand beside James. Remus shoots Miriam a polite hello, but his expression reflects his lingering dislike for her from their school days.
“I didn’t know you were with someone,” Miriam mumbles, and James thinks about clarifying that he didn’t know it either.
The bell above the shop door chimes, announcing someone’s departure. James’s reaction to your voice is immediate and revealing; his eyes brighten, and his posture straightens as he turns to you. It’s clear from his response that he is deeply enamored with you.
And it isn’t just James. His son mirrors his father’s excitement. The little boy’s eyes light up with the same warmth, and he reaches out eagerly toward you. Henry babbles what sounds remarkably like “mama,” his tiny arms outstretched in an unmistakable plea for you to hold him. James hopes you don’t catch what his son is trying to say.
Your sweet voice rings out, “Jamie, I know you said not to spoil him, but they had the most adorable knit sweater—” You trail off, blinking in surprise as you notice Miriam’s disapproving gaze, her brow furrowed in irritation. You come to a stop next to James, missing the way his son is staring you down.
“You bought him another sweater?” Remus asks, his tone a mix of surprise and amusement. You shoot him a halfhearted glare, silently reminding him that he shouldn’t be commenting on it.
“Hi, Miriam. How have you been?” You greet her with a warm smile, though a hint of unease tugs at you. Miriam’s gaze feels unusually intense, leaving you slightly unsettled. You recall that you both got on well in school, so you’re unsure what might have shifted between you.
“Good. It’s been ages since I’ve seen you all, Jamie and I were just talking about—” Miriam trails off, her gaze fixed on James as he smoothly takes the shopping bag from you, allowing you to take Henry. Had you been fully listening, you would’ve frowned at the use of your nickname for James.
The transition is so effortless that it’s clear it’s well-practiced. You settle Henry comfortably on your hip, deftly rummaging through your purse until you find a pacifier. You gently pop it into his mouth, and Henry’s head droops onto your shoulder as he begins to suck contentedly, letting out a sigh that suggests he’s found his perfect spot.
James’s gaze is lovesick as he watches you. His heart catches in his throat as he sees you effortlessly produce a pacifier for his son. He’s well aware that your purse likely holds other baby essentials, even if you’d deny it. As he observes you, his thoughts drift, overwhelmed by the profound realization that Henry has a mum in his life— you.
You’re so focused on settling Henry that you don’t even notice Miriam’s silence, and James, so absorbed in you, is barely aware of her presence. You smile up at him while gently rocking his son, and James thinks, This is it. I have everything I’ve ever wanted.
Miriam turns to Sirius with a lowered voice, “I thought they were just friends. They were in school.”
“They were never just friends. Y/n has always been James’s weakness. Now she’s his son’s too.”
please reblog or comment with your thoughts! they are very appreciated and keep me motivated to keep writing! 🤍

Potter Children Headcanons
JAMES
James is Ginny with black hair. Her eyes, her nose , the only out of the three to get her extreme freckles. I imagine him to be mid height but Albus is taller.
Ginny is his best friend. Absolute mammas boy yes James is the rebel child but so is Ginny. They have the same humor have the same interest they are very close. He made her a mum and they will always have that bond.
James is also very protective of Lily and Albus. Yes he had very caring and present parents but they are busy people so James stepped in a lot as he got older to be there for the other two. James and teddy are incredibly close James was Tedds first brother and they spend a lot of time together once James graduates, they even lived together at a point.
ALBUS
Everything about Albus looks like Harry. But, Albus has a warmness in his face that came from his mama. He has Harry’s wider shoulders but Albus got Ron’s height. Something James will forever be jelous of.
Albus was closer to Ginny as a toddler because he was so shy but moving through adolescence he noticed how similar he is to his father. They are both people watchers, don’t like big crowds, crave the quiet. He always goes to Harry when he has questions or concerns. Don’t get me wrong they fight a lot and when they do it’s bad but Harry is his favorite parent and deep down he would never admit it Albus is Harry’s favorite child.
Albus’s family mate is Rose she does all the talking for him and they get along very well. Teddy has always looked out for Albus as well always making sure he had eaten dinner and including him in things with the other cousins.
LILY
Everyone says lily looks like Ginny at first but, Ginny and Harry both agree she looks more like her father. She has her mums fair skin, her brown eyes, and a light dusting of freckles not like James and Ginny have. But if you look closer she has Harry’s eye shape. His check bones, his nose, his jaw. Her eyebrows her lips that’s all from her dad. When she’s standing right next to Harry that really shines through how much she looks like her father. She is also crazy petite like Ginny very small in stature.
She’s the baby so obviously she gets away with everything. If James and Albus want something then they make Lily go ask for it. She’s close with Ginny because they enjoy doing stuff together like getting nails done going shopping talking about boys all the usual mother daughter things. But just like Ginny and Molly holy hell those two could row if they fight the whole neighborhood will know. But that’s where Harry comes in if Lily runs to her room crying after a fight with her mom Harry will be the one to comfort her till she falls asleep.
Lily wasn’t that close to the boys growing up especially not James because she was so much younger but when they all got older they started to bond more. She always admired Aunt Angelina Lily could always tell her things she could never tell her mom.

Pretty, Like… (with James Potter)
[ little Harry meeting his new baby sister after you come home from the hospital ]
* f l u f f 🥰
** includes godfather Sirius Black; indirect mention of Lily (and it’s not positive sooo..)
This was requested: see the ask here
…………….
“Watch your step dove,” James said as he held the car door open for you with one hand and the baby carrier in the other.
You had just arrived home from the hospital after the birth of your baby girl but that had nothing to do with your husband being so cautious with you- that was just an all the time James thing.
You smiled at him once you were out of the car and stepped aside so he could close the door.
“Ahhhh!”
“Well, I think I hear Haz” James chuckled at the sound of a muffled shriek.
Looking to the living room window you see little Harry’s hands and excited face smushed up against the glass.
Harry was five years old but he wasn’t your biological son; the story with his real mother is one you don’t care to tell. It involves her, her past lover and death and that’s where you liked to leave it at.
“My babyyy, I missed him so much!” you said with your hands at your heart. As it almost always goes, he wasn’t your biological son but you loved that boy more than anything. The little girl in the carrier might be your first birthed child but she was not what you considered your first child.
Having made your way to the front door, you heard all three of your locks rattle undone and braced yourself for Harry’s high volume welcome.
“Mummy! Daddy! Can I see her?! Can I see her?!” Harry exclaimed, jumping up and down at the sight of you both.
His godfather Sirius stood behind him and shook his head in disbelief. “Those sugary breakfast cereals are tasty and he eats them without complaints but you tell me, is it worth it?” he joked, pointing to the bouncing boy with a faux pensive look.
You giggled at the comment and looked down at Harry. “Yes you can see her but let’s get inside first, okay?” you said with a boop to his nose.
Harry nodded and ran to the living room couch sitting himself nice and straight on the cushion, legs drumming excitedly as he waited for James to bring the carrier over with his new sister.
“Okay Haz, you ready?” James asked, setting the carrier down on the coffee table after Sirius removed two cereal-less, milk filled bowls and took them to the kitchen.
“Yes! Yes!”
“I present to you….Hazel Potter!” James enthused, swiping the blanket away from the front of the carrier like a magician.
Hazel squinted her eyes upon the feel of the newfound light, took one glance at Harry, yawned then closed her eyes again and slightly squirmed back to sleep.
Harry squealed and his hands instantly shot out to, what you assume, grab Hazel’s tiny fisted ones but James stopped him before he got the chance to. “Whoa buddy, gentle, gentle. She’s trying to sleep. We can look at her but let’s let her rest for now.”
Harry groaned a little but smiled when he looked down at Hazel again.
“Mama, she’s so tiny but so big also! I can’t believe she was in your tummy” he commented, voice full of wonder and astonishment.
“Your mum is a real life superwoman, don’t you ever forget that” James told Harry with a gentle ruffle to his hair.
“I won’t!” Harry replied, biting down on his lip to admire Hazel some more.
You gifted James a smile of appreciation as he put his arm around you and kissed your temple.
Although it had been a healthy birth, it still hadn’t been an easy thing for you. You’d always been afraid of pregnancy and all it entailed and James knew that. You braved through a lot these past nine months and he’d never take that for granted for as long as he’d live. But truthfully, fear aside, being able to give your little Harry a sibling and James a second child had without a doubt been one of the greatest pleasures you’ve had in life (along with being James Potter’s wife and the person who Harry called mama of course).
“Hey hey, what do you think of the new sister Haz?” Sirius asked Harry, drying his hands against his pants as he came back into the living room, bending little ways over to take a peek at the little bundle of a baby in the carrier.
Harry smiled and shrugged. “I don’t know. I barely know her...but she is very pretty, like a bakery bread.”
A bakery bread. He was talking about the loaves of bread you and James purchased at the bakery every Saturday morning. Yes … bread.
Sirius cackled and clapped his hands at Harry’s comparison while James failed to suppress a smile as he nodded and squinted his eyes at his son.
“Well that’s very nice of you to say. She is really pretty huh, like a bakery bread” you repeated lovingly, with one hand laying flat against James’s chest.
Harry nodded and giggled at how his words sounded coming from someone else.
“Can we go put her in the crib so she can be better?” Harry then asked.
“That’s a great idea baby, she’ll be a lot more comfortable there won’t she” you praised, understanding exactly what he meant by better.
James removed himself from your side and grabbed the handle of the carrier to pick it up. “C’mon then, let’s go show baby bread her bread box” James joked for his son’s amusement.
Harry of course instantly laughed with joy and ‘helped’ James by placing his small hands at the back of the carrier on the walk up the stairs, meanwhile Sirius thoughtfully stayed behind to accompany you at your slower pace; ever since you’d first met him, he had always acted like such a big brother to you and you loved it.
“You know, I’ve watched those two dote on you endlessly these past three years but by the looks of it, you’re going to have to start sharing them with little Ms. Hazel Potter now” Sirius teased. “She’s beautiful by the way.”
“Well thank you…. and as for the sharing, I’m not going to mind one bit” you replied blissfully. <3

Mamas boy this and daddys girl that. The marauders era kids have a favorite Potter parent and it’s like this.
Effie’s children: Sirius, Peter, Marlene, Evan, Pandora, Lily
Monty’s children: Regulus, Remus, Barty, Dorcas, Mary
James is the exception because he fucking loves his parents and is happy to share them with his broken home friends.

Alley - @jegulus-microfic - word count: 194
It was 2am and Regulus had had enough.
It was already ridiculous that Sirius had convinced him to go to this godforsaken club. That he was here, in a crowd full of drunk idiots, observing the way people were all-but-fucking on the dance floor. That he was consuming a drink that tasted of cotton candy and vodka while throwing a finger at the burly man who was giving him a superior look.
But to have to do all these things while James Potter was there? Dressed in a crop top, with a goddamn belly button piercing?
Absolutely not.
So he did what any sane man would do.
He marched onto the dance floor, leaving his pink and blue drink behind, and grabbed Potter’s hand out of the air where he had thrown both up, interrupted him mid-grind with some ridiculously muscular six-foot-something arsehole, and dragged him outside.
Then, he pressed him firmly into the alley wall and murmured “Enough” into his ear, nearly growling the word, making them both shiver.
But James just grinned, pressing back into him, arms winding around his waist. “Took you long enough, love,” he chided, before connecting their lips.

Mama’s boy Harry is my religion!!! For some reason I have this idea that James always joked about feeling jealous because toddler Harry was always running after his mama, but then when Harry is growing up it’s actually really sweet because he constantly sends her letters from school.
Or, have we possibly considered what it would be like if James and his wife were professors or something while Harry was there? James would take over Madam Hooch’s position teaching flying, and reader would teach DADA or charms or something, and it would just be potter family chaos.
omg i adore that first idea!!
james comes home from work and finds you sitting at the dinner table reading a letter.
“harry send you one again?” he asks, kissing your head as he sets his work stuff down.
“yeah, even sent pictures,” you show james the couple of polaroids of harry and his friends at school.
he’s gotten taller and his hair is like james’ now just a little curlier.
you miss him like mad but the pictures help.
“he looks happy,” james says and you sniffle. james is well versed with these tears and while he misses his son just as much as you do, james knows you hurt a little with him being so far away.
harry had been attached to your hip and now he was in a completely different time zone if the tall building behind him was anything to go off of.
“yeah, says so too. just miss him.” you say and james coos.
“he’ll be home for winter holiday soon angel,” james promises, rubbing your back as you lean into him. “and we can always go visit him, yeah?”
you nod, a little pout on your face. “yeah.”

thoughts on marauders and their internal homophobia.
you just can't convince me that james can have some internal homophobia, anyone from marauders seems like that to me, but not james, I'm too deep into my crash on the best parents in the whole world, effie and monty potter, to think that there's was something in their parenting, what makes james thinking bad about being gay.
sirius and regulus? internal homophobia is their canon event, being from family like that, where being not like everyone want you to be can lead to disowning, you clearly would feel a lot of shame because of some unpurly thought about your mates.
it's also okay with remus and his insecure nature, like that boy can be alright with queers around him, but the moment he starts to feel like that himself, it seems wrong, because anything about him Is wrong, you know?
and I can see it in peter, some mama's boy, I'm sure his family is ridiculously religious, and they believe in good old arrange marriage, so his internal homophobia is strongest and I can't imagine him really work through this trauma.

James Potter Headcanons
Pansexual
He/him and they/them pronouns
Animagus is a deer
Latino and always speaks in fast Spanish when angry or excited and it’s so amusing to watch
Never studies yet somehow gets amazing grades and results in exams
Had severe ADHD and sometimes forgets to take his medication so Marlene always reminds him, and sometimes when she isn’t there, Barty notices it and gives subtle nudges to James, and when James looks at him he sees him holding out his medication. He never forgot, no matter what, and James will always be grateful
Used to be childhood friends with Marlene and Barty
Was forced to stop talking to barty because of how different they were, even though his parents wanted him to come back since they missed him
When he started dating regulus, he was forced to start talking with barty again, and they had a weird moment where they stared into each others eyes and cried silently, before hugging and then acting like nothing happened the next day.
he was obsessed with the idea of lily but not her as a person, especially because his parents expected them to be together so the pressure got to his head, but after meeting regulus he began to fall in love
james is a people-pleaser so he never really opens up and nobody has ever seen him breakdown other then barty, marlene, remus, and regulus
the first time james cried in front of sirius was when they found out regulus died. sirius was so shocked at his reaction that he began to cry harder and cradled james in his arms
he misses barty to death
has obvious bipolar disorder but he’s in denial, remus agreed not to tell anyone yet
james never opens up to anyone since he thinks his job is to make everyone happy. for some reason, barty and regulus (slytherins) were the only ones who were there for him and understood him in such a deep level
people would come to him for therapy, venting, help, advice, etc. but he never had anyone there for him
people called him egotistical and cocky but in reality it’s just a facade to seem cool because he never really liked who he truly was
pretty good actor, his friends never caught on to his fake behavior, but when remus, regulus, and marlene did, (barty did to, he just didn’t talk about it, he only gave silent nudges to let james know he’s right there.) they tried their best to comfort him.
NAPS, loves naps
if one light is on he CANNOT sleep
broken multiple pairs of glasses after falling asleep in them
him and sirius are like brothers, but that breaks his heart because of regulus
mamas boy
mcgonagall has a soft spot for him
a hugger, seriously so touchy he sometimes gets super insecure bc he’s worried ppl will be annoyed. the only people who encouraged this was the marauders + marlene (barty wasn’t a big toucher himself but he would comfort james with humor if he asked)
ruffles everyone’s hair
natural leader, sometimes overthinks and begins to worry that he’s using people and ordering them around bossily
he loves everyone so fucking much and he’s indecisive as fuck
he sings in the shower
he has a diary that he writes in with a glittery gel pen

When the boys get home, you're in the kitchen finishing up some soup. You don’t want Henry to get sick with the changing weather and him starting school, so you’ve gone a bit overboard with the veggies. The front door slams shut, and you hear the low timbre of James' voice followed by a high-pitched whine from Henry. No doubt, James is reminding him to take off his shoes. You can easily picture him crouching down, gently encouraging Henry to do it himself in that low, soothing voice of his.
“Mama!” Henry shrieks, and your heart tightens at the sound of it. Months ago, you and James had sat him down, letting him know he could call you “mama” if he wanted to. Ever since then, he'd stopped calling you “darling,” and hearing the new name still tugs at your heartstrings every time.
You set the ladle down, ready to bend down and scoop Henry up. But the moment you see him, you freeze, lips parting in surprise. Out of the corner of your eye, you catch James stepping into the kitchen, leaning against the counter, silently watching the scene unfold.
“Do you like them?” Henry bounces on his toes, his big brown doe eyes—made even larger by his glasses—blinking up at you. A lump forms in your throat as you take in the sight.
“I love them.” You gasp, bending down as Henry shuffles toward you, grinning and bobbing his head side to side, proudly showing off his new blue frames. You're certain James told him not to touch the lenses, judging by how his little hands fidget at his sides, resisting the urge to reach up and adjust them.
You wrap your arms around him, scooping him up to get a better look.
“Do I look like a big boy? Daddy said I did.” As he asks, you’re hit with the realization of just how grown-up he looks. He’s no longer the baby James would frantically call you about when he was sick, or the mischievous toddler who loved yanking the scrunchie from your hair, giggling uncontrollably as you pretended you didn’t know who had stolen it.
“You do. You look just like daddy.” You murmur, eyes flickering over to James, who is watching you both with a soft look.
Henry squirms in your arms, “I need Mr. G!” He exclaims suddenly, and you let him down so he can run and get his stuffed rabbit that wore a pair of glasses. You figure so he can have dinner with the three of you.
You watch him run off before turning your gaze to James, “You didn’t tell me he was getting glasses.”
“We wanted to surprise you.” James says with a smile, pushing away from the counter to meet you. His hands gently cup your cheeks, tilting your face up to meet his gaze as your arms instinctively wrap around his waist.
“He’s so grown up, Jamie.” You sigh, your voice thick with emotion. James gives you a soft, knowing smile.
“I know,” he murmurs. “I nearly had a meltdown in the office the first time he put them on.”
The room falls quiet for a moment before James leans down, pressing a soft, tender kiss to your lips. It’s short-lived, though, as Henry suddenly cries out that he can’t find his bunny and needs help. James sighs against your lips, his forehead resting against yours for a beat longer before pulling away with a quiet chuckle.
“Look at that—he's not all that grown up yet. He still needs us.” James says, a fond smile tugging at his lips. You smile softly in return, reluctantly letting him go so he can search for Mr. G.
“I love seeing him grow up, but I oddly miss the baby phase.” You sigh, and James nods in understanding.
“As hard as it was, the baby stage was my favorite. Probably because you were by my side the whole time.” James winks, then turns to head toward the stairs.
You watch him as he goes, his movements deliberate, but you catch his attention with a teasing edge to your voice. “Maybe we should have another one then.”
The words slip from your lips with a soft smile, and you can't help but laugh when James almost stumbles on the steps, his foot catching awkwardly as he spins around, his breath hitching in his chest. His eyes lock on yours, wide and searching, as if he’s trying to gauge whether you’re serious.
“You'd better not be messing with me, darling.” He breathes out, his voice low and thick with desperation. After nearly a year of dating, and given that he’s known you for almost a decade, with you having embraced the role of Henry’s mum from the very start, he's been waiting patiently to hear those words.
Your stomach twists in a way that sends heat coursing through you, and you offer him a slow, knowing smile. “I’m not,” you reply, your voice soft but certain.

Lily races up the stairs, holding Harry close to her chest. She just makes it to his room and manages to locks the door when she hears a cry of "AVADA KEDEVRA" and then a thud.
She screams because James is dead. And she'll be dead soon too. And Harry will be as well. She presses him close to her chest as the tears drip down her face.
"Mama?" Harry asks, his chubby little hand reaching up to touch her face.
"It's fine baby." she tells him, her voice shaking as she hold onto his hand. "Mummy loves you. Daddy loves you. Uncle Pads love you. Uncle Moony loves you. Uncle Wormy loves you. Auntie Mary loves you. " she says. "Harry, I love you baby. I'll always love you."
Lily strokes his head and breathes in his soft, sweet baby scent. "I love you baby boy." she repeats. She needs him to hear it, to remember it. He reaches out his hand again and his sleeve rides up a bit. He's been going through a growth spurt recently, his blue pyjamas are just a little too small. Yet he's still so small.
She remembers when he was born. 15 months ago exactly. How little he was then, his hands so tiny. How James and her had cried as Harry rested on her chest. Then he had kissed her head and whispered "He's beautiful, Lily." to her and then looked towards their son and said "Hello sweetheart, I love you." It seems silly that she was ever scared of his. Yes they were young but Harry is the best thing that's ever happened to her. In all her 21 years, Lily has never felt so full of love for another person. Lily lets out another tear but she doesn't want to scare Harry. Not now. So she holds him close in her arms and sings him a lullaby, humming gently when she’s too scared to make a sound.
"Twinkle twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are-" The door bangs open and there he is. Wand in hand and murder in his eyes. He lets out a high pitched cackle and Lily drops Harry as gently as possible into his crib. And then she stands in front of her son, her arms outstretched. All in an attempt to save her little boy.
"Mummy?" his little voice asks again and Lily's heart breaks. This is the first time he's ever called her that and it'll be the last. She can't save him. Harry Potter will die before he ever truly gets to live. At least she'll be with him. Her and James will be with him. James. The love of her life. She'll see him soon.
But she has one last attempt to make the man see sense and so she tries. Tries for her little boy. "Not Harry, not Harry, please not Harry!"
"Stand aside you silly girl...stand aside now." he says, his voice cold and cruel. He moves closer and Lily pleads again. Not for her life, but for her son's.
"Not Harry, please no, take me, kill me instead-" she begs. Lily can feel death looming over her shoulder and she wants to scream and cry and run. Anything to stop it. But she can't run and she can't let her baby boy die.
"This is my last warning-" He doesn't want to kill her. She doesn't know why but it makes her more determined. Maybe his mercy will extend to her son.
"Not Harry! Please...have mercy...have mercy...Not Harry! Not Harry! Please-I'll do anything-"
"Stand aside. Stand aside girl!"
She doesn't move and the next thing Lily sees is a flash of green light and the last thing she thinks is "I love you Harry. I'll be waiting for you." Lily Potter falls to the ground and cloaked figure steps over her body, ready to kill her son.
When she awakes in the afterlife, she sobs for her boy who will grow up without her love.
