I think Todd in the Shadows is also a good example of how long it can take to put out videos, if you're researching / writing / producing them yourselves:
One a month? One every three months? It takes time to do all this.
If someone is dropping a weekly hour-long commentary video that isn't just them podcast-ranting about too many gays, they either work with a team, or are stealing.
And if they work with a team, they should credit them, so we know whose art or words are a part of this.
Sarah Z does it like this.
Jenny Nicholson does two huge videos a year, because I'm pretty sure she does them all herself. This content takes MONTHS to put together.
If you like a non-corporate channel and they're dropping slick videos daily or weekly, that's a red flag. You should probably narrow your eyes at where this content is coming from.
...Or they just don't sleep and use hard stimulants. But that also makes the content suspect, in its own ways.
You're not an unsupervised 11 year old. Be more mindful about what you're consuming. Stop generating revenue for dipshits who don't want real jobs.
"HEY I DON'T CARE IT IS JUST CONTENT I'M TIRED AND -- "
You can either stand against the dystopia, or get eaten by it. Grow the fuck up.

Paradise Promises Paid Off by end of Season One
When Paradise first aired, the thing that immediately hooked me was the intriguing plot. There was so much mystery that centered around the overall concept that was about to unfold. Of course, with any original mystery, there came the questions about how it would unfold.
Paradise was great from beginning to end and easily set a very deliberate tone in how they went about navigating the story. They never did too much at once so that each and every plot beat could feel organic in its own way. Every bit of the intrigue and shrouded pay off felt genuine because they devoted enough time to explain it. Often this is not a format that works because it feels too out of left field.
The biggest issue here was finding a way to make it all. It makes sense given the complexities that surround crafting a story of this magnitude. While there are still some lingering questions, the overall concept is executed very well.
Tumblr media
A lot of the burden falls onto three people. The obvious one being Sterling K. Brown as well as James Marsden and Julianne Nicholson. Brown is the straight shooting, quiet, and reserved Secret Service Agent. Marsden plays the president and Nicholson an eccentric billionaire with secrets and a past of her own. They together form the core of what this story is based on upon. Marsden carrying the brunt of the flashbacks to fill the gaps. Brown is doing his amazing work to essentially react as the audience would to the secrets. Nicholson always makes us believe there is one more sinister secret left lurking.
One of the best parts about this show is the willingness to let it be a slow burn on the part of Dan Fogelman. He said that from day one, there was a three season plan, and he meant that. Had this show not been renewed, there was going to be an obvious cliffhanger. It shows belief in yourself to be willing to end on a note of this nature. Thankfully, there will be nothing left to the imagination as the show has been renewed for at least one more season as of right now. This show has been a pleasant surprise to start off 2025. There should be a new set of characters awaiting season 2 and as well as the reactions from the aftermath of season 1. Bring on more of this very interesting and refreshing series. A wonderful achievement.

In case James Somerton tries to release a second manipulative apology video, here's some stuff I haven't seen shared on Tumblr. In the initial wake of HBomberguy's video release on December 3, Somerton made the following post to Patreon that was quickly deleted:
Here he dismisses Plagiarism and You(tube) as "not bringing up anything new since the last time he was accused of plagiarism" and tries to pull the same victim card as before when he complained that a "big creator was unfairly targeting him." This is a rehash of previous controversies and criticisms he's received such as when he went after Nebula for "not wanting to platform him because he's queer (lol wut)" in 2022 and lashing out at Dan Olson on Twitter when Dan called him out for the Patreon shit in April 2023 (James begged his viewers to support him on Patreon because he claimed to be in dire financial straights and then bought a $5k+ camera). The man is very versed in DARVO.
Tumblr media
The Ace Couple, a pair of Asexual podcasters (who you should totally listen to btw) detailed the Nebula debacle in a recent episode, as well as their own interaction with Somerton as financial backers of his film project who disagreed with the content of one of his videos. The issue? Aside from the shenanigans with Telos, the Indiegogo film studio the Ace Couple backed, Somerton had said in a video that asexual people don't get sent to conversion therapy, which is categorically not true. Naturally, he resorted to his tried and true tactic of accusing the Ace Couple of attacking him.
youtube
He then released a second statement later in the evening of the release of Hbomberguy's video:
Tumblr media
All of this on top of him subtly throwing his cowriter under the bus for it in his apology video! Statements like, "I'm not trying to throw Nick under the bus" don't work when you also say things like, "things that weren't true I didn't write or believe made it into the videos!" What other conclusion are viewers supposed to make about shit like 'American soldiers lusting after Nazi bodies' and the snarking misogyny that can't be traced back to a source other than Nick wrote it? Somerton is using Nick as a fall guy and trying to gaslight everyone into thinking he's not and it's transparent and pathetic.
The man absolutely does not deserve another chance and any claims he makes that he is seeking money to reimburse the queer creators he erased by plagiarizing their work should not be trusted. The guy has zero credibility, don't give him the benefit of the doubt.
