Anthem Hires Udi Manber
Anthem Creates AI Engineering Team
 Press Release     March 29, 2019
Gainesville, FL., March 29, 2019 (swampstratcomm-sp19.tumblr.com) -- Healthcare Global analyzes changes in healthcare that help to improve the industry. Many of the articles have focused on the changes in leadership across multiple companies. For example, Amazon appointed a cardiologist to work in their healthcare division. Pfizer also introduced a new CEO to the company. Another article, Anthem Appoints Former Google Executive to its AI Division, focuses on the ways Udi Manber plans to enhance customer satisfaction and lower healthcare costs using new technologies.
The insurer, Anthem, appointed Udi Manber to help develop a new AI (artificial intelligence) engineering team. With his experience at companies such as Yahoo and Google, Manber is qualified to modify Anthem’s healthcare endeavors. Manber can use data science to help Anthem compete in the growing industry. Anthem is adjusting to a healthcare system that is moving toward greater use of technology in operations. Ari Gottlieb, principal of the A2 strategy corporation, stated, “It seems like both an offensive and defensive move. It suggests that they won’t want to lose customers to rival health plans, both start-ups and established players, which are also making investments in technology and customer experience.”
Manber began working in the healthcare industry in 2015. Before taking the job at Anthem, he was employed at the National Institutes of Health and the University of California, San Francisco. During his time at the University of California, he was employed as technical advisor to UCSF’s Institute for Computational Health Sciences.
Including appointing Manber, Anthem has been a focus of attention in the healthcare industry due to multiple other advancements within the company. For example, Anthem partnered with Walmart to help reduce healthcare costs and provide greater access to medications. Anthem also partnered with IBM to help further its digital transformation. Through the appointment of Manber and partnership with IBM, Anthem will provide 24/7 digital services to each of their customers.
Enhancing the healthcare industry with new technology is crucial in making sure consumer’s information is safe and easily accessible. Companies will quickly lose customers if they cannot adapt to the fast changes in the industry. As technology continues to change companies across all industries will have to alter practices to enhance customer experience and keep costs down.

Real-Time Data Use Introduced to Healthcare
Real-Time Data Makes Real Differences
 Press Release     March 15, 2019
Gainesville, FL., March 15, 2019 (swampstratcomm-sp19.tumblr.com) -- Healthcare Global focuses on the ways in which technology can be used to help improve healthcare. One article highlights a new biopharma company created by Bain Capital and Pfizer. Another article looks at the partnership formed between Scripps Research Translational Institute and NVIDIA to improve artificial intelligence technology. One article, Connected Tissue: How Real-Time Data Transforms a Fragmented Healthcare Industry, focuses on how the inter-working of real-time data and key technology can transform the healthcare industry.
Hospitals are not currently communicating as efficiently as they should be. The inefficiency is causing fragmentation within the healthcare community. This fragmentation causes subpar resource management and possible harm to patients. According to the article, “a decentralised approach creates problems that could be better handled with real-time data tools playing a greater role in response plans.”
Hurricane Harvey is an example of a situation where real-time data helped guide government officials and first responders to reach those in danger. As many requests for help came in, first responders and hospitals were presented with an abundance of information that they could not process efficiently. As hospitals were becoming overwhelmed, people in trouble began posting pictures and videos of their situations on social media. This presented first responders with a more efficient way to assess how critical each situation was and devise a plan of action for helping each person. A director of emergency management in New York City also spoke to how social media helped him develop a more appropriate plan of action when a pipe exploded. Many companies have enlisted the help of large security corporations that can access and help filter real time data, so multiple streams can be analyzed and compiled into one set of concise real-time data.
It is very important that the flow of information throughout the healthcare industry is not disrupted. Disruptions could cause major consequences throughout many parts of the industry and result in catastrophe. It is important that information is collected, analyzed, and processed extremely quickly so patients can obtain the best, most efficient care possible in a dangerous situation.

Data Mapping Helps Create a Better NHS
Data Mapping Protects Patient Records
Press release     February 22, 2019
Gainesville, FL., February 22, 2019 (swampstratcomm-sp19.tumblr.com)-- Recently, Healthcare Global has focused on ways to innovate healthcare. One article reviews the top healthcare innovations for 2019, discussing new technologies such as artificial intelligence and new tools for storing patient records. Another article focuses on how healthcare is becoming more digitized and a new smartphone application released by NHS. One article, Fit for Purpose: Introducing Data Mapping for a Healthier NHS, focuses on how the NHS can use data mapping to help keep patients information more secure.
The NHS has been storing patient data for over 70 years, so the amount of data held by the NHS is large. The amount of data stored by the NHS presents a large threat to the security of patient records. During 2017, the global WannaCry attack resulted in the cancellation of 20,000 appointments and a large loss in revenue. The NHS is more prone to attack by cybercriminals because they use outdated technology and operating systems. If NHS suffers another cyber attack, it is possible they would not be able to recover from the damages. Even though there is much skepticism surrounding data security people still trust the NHS with their records. This makes it important that there is a way for NHS to store data and keep it secure. One way to do this is through data mapping. “Data mapping is about creating a visual overview of all the data collected and stored by an organisation, providing an insight into the potential risks associated with each data type and location.” Data mapping does not rely on data being strictly online, so it is compatible with all NHS documents that are still kept on paper. NHS must decide how all current audio, online, and paper data must be stored. They also must implement new policies for how data is controlled and create new guidelines for who controls the data. Once the NHS takes these steps, they can begin to chart the data flow. After NHS understands the data that is being stored, they can ask a series of questions to determine how the data is being processed and collected.
Data mapping is a technology that any company can use to make sure people’s information is safe. It is especially important when it comes to people’s medical records. By streamlining how data is collected, stored, and transferred through data mapping people’s information will be safer in the long run.

Artificial Intelligence Introduced to Healthcare
Robots Redefine Patient Care
Press Release    February 8, 2019
Gainesville, FL., February 8, 2019 (swampstratcomm-sp19.tumblr.com) -- During the month of November Healthcare Global focused on the ways healthcare is changing in different parts of the world. One article praises Japan for their healthcare achievements and discusses their plans with Britain. Another focuses on lowering differences in healthcare from patient to patient. Artificial intelligence is also being integrated into healthcare with big plans for innovation.
People are beginning to live longer than ever before. This is starting to place strain on the healthcare system. More people need accessible, high quality healthcare solutions than ever before. Technology, especially conversational artificial intelligence (AI), is proposed as a solution to the problem. Conversational AI-powered assistants would be used to help implement the “nudge theory.” The nudge theory is used to “help people stick to their care plan and guide them towards making better decisions regarding their health.” AI can help with things at home such as medication reminders, inhaler use help, exercise reminders, and many others. By helping with these things the technology reduces the number of “bed-blockers” and frees up hospital staff for other emergencies. This reduces cost and strain on the healthcare system. Patients would still be paired with healthcare professionals that checked on them periodically, but their constant presence would not be needed with the help of AI. The use of AI could also help lower the turnover rate in the healthcare system.
Without a change to how healthcare is administered on an in-home basis, the healthcare system will continually diminish. It is important to consider the benefits technology presents to the healthcare system. The use of AI will greatly reduce the strain on patients and healthcare professionals. Patients will always have access to simple healthcare help, and the major strain on the healthcare system will be relieved.

Health Insurance Companies Use New Methods to Educate Consumers
Aetna Makes Moves Toward Better Health Insurance
Press Release     January 25, 2019
Gainesville, FL., January 25, 2019-- Healthcare Global has focused on making healthcare better in anyway possible. They publish articles focusing on new and innovative ways to move the healthcare industry forward. In December’s issue, they explored how employers can change healthcare, remote patient monitoring, and many other topics relating consumers to healthcare providers. Insurance has been an area where changes will most definitely occur this year.
Climbing healthcare costs and lack of support has left consumers upset with the performance of their insurance companies. One insurance company, Aetna, has started taking steps to fix this problem. Mitesh Patel runs Aetna’s evacuation business and care management program. The evacuation business is done without any outside collaboration, so the process is as streamlined as possible. The care management program connects those with chronic illnesses, such as diabetes or cancer, with a long term nurse who can help them navigate their healthcare needs. Aetna nurses assist consumers by providing advice on disease management, medication schedules, diet, and lifestyle choices.
Aetna has also started initiatives to help those who live in underdeveloped countries understand their illnesses and course of treatment. Aetna International has a goal to “undertake what is best for its members, making sure they’re not being over-treated or having unnecessary surgeries [to] ensure a higher quality result and increased member satisfaction.”
Patel also has ideas for increasing education in schools to help improve lifestyle choices of students from earlier ages. He also wants to begin educating people on the danger of overusing antimicrobials. Antimicrobial resistance is happening too quickly in the US, so Patel wants to slow their use.
Companies such as Apple, Fitbit, and Amazon have made new technologies to help people put lifestyle changes into practice. These technologies have already helped lower heart failure rates.
Aetna has made great strides to combat the issues consumers are having with insurance. They have chosen to solve these issues through greater education and company wide programs. They hope to make insurance more accessible and easily navigated for all parties involved.

truth- “Am I a Puppet”
Tumblr media
youtube
Juuls and vaping have been very prominent on college campuses and in high schools. As soon as the devices started gaining popularity, the truth campaign started releasing advertisements to reveal the dangers. I find it interesting that the truth campaign now has another nicotine device to put a stop to in the way they did cigarettes.
