I actually drew these designs some time around last August, posted them, and then deleted the post for some strange reason? (Idk man)

More rambling below

Last year I read Illuminae, started Gemina and then stopped. I'm planning on restarting Gemina bc I remember enjoying the book so idk what my reason to stop reading was.

With my reread I want to start drawing these goobers again bc it's fun and there's a severe lack of fan content. (I crave contribution)

Also (please correct me if I am wrong bc I often am) I don't think I've ever seen any fanart of Jimmy before. I love that guy.

There is too much Ezra Mason erasure in this fandom and I, for one, will not stand for it.

I knew y'all were going to end up shipping Kady with the sociopathic Murder Bot but c'mon. Jimmy McNulty did not bequeath his generous stockpile of war medals for Ezra and Kady not to use them to make a wedding ring and get married and have a hundred kids (named James and/or Jamette) and live happily ever after.

BEST ILLUMINAE BOOK GO-

Hard one because my favourite character in the whole series is Ella and she's only introduced in Gemina but I'd have to say Illuminae, some of the stuff in Gemina was a bit creepy but Illuminae was just terrifying in certain parts in a good way and it did a really good job at emphasizing how scary the Phobos virus was and the part with her on the Alexander near the end was so gripping and well done and heart wrenching to see Byron and Charles Dorian these characters becoming afflicted with Phobos. The record Kady finds of James McNulty's suicide before he succumbs to the virus hit me so hard too.

Illuminae Review

Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff is a 599 Page Young Adult Sci-Fi novel, the first installment of The Illumiae Files and is followed by Gemina and Obsidio. I had my eye on this one for a while, but didn't actually put it on my wishlist untill I saw Kayla from BooksAndLala read it in a video and loved it.

We follow Kady Grant when her home planet of Kerenza IV is attacked by the BeiTech Company. She and her ex Ezra Mason escape the planet but are on who different spacecrafts. But not all seems to appear as it once had, and danger looms behind asteroid as the BeiTech dreadnaught Lincoln is still in pursuit of the tiny fleet of survivors, to make sure no one else will learn of their actions.

I rate this book 5/5 stars.

I was in love with the story and completely engaged all the way through the 599 pages. Even towards the end there were moments tears started to well up in my eyes. James McNulty at Hanger Bay 4 will always have a special place within my heart. The story is amazingly told through schematics, chat messages, transcriptions of audio and video files, and typography. There are two twists near the end which I didn't seem coming and they threw me for a loop. Through it all you get a real sense of all of the characters, no matter how minor they all may seem. Honestly I feel most conflicted about AIDAN, because I do understand the actions it took and why, but it still doesn't justify them.

I sure can't wait until I get my hands on the other two books and complete the trilogy.
