Where do Broken hearts go? - Jeon Wonwoo
18+ / mdi
summary: Marrying the man of your dreams will finally come true, but what happens when the day comes and the Man is not there?
content: Fiancé Wonwoo x reader, fight, crying, angst, happy end, wedding au
wc: 1.9k
a/n: I watched the firs t part of sex and the City and then I thought I want to write about Big and Carrie. I´m not really happy with it..
Organizing a wedding takes a lot of time and preparation, it takes passion and a vision.
You had all of it, except the time.
When your Fiancé, Jeon Wonwoo asked you to marry him you did not hesitate for a second. You jumped at him kissing him until you both were entangled under the sheets.
But since you were not very patient you wanted this wedding as soon as possible. Perks of being the famous Vogue writer? You could get help from everyone within days.
Your best friend came over helping you planing a sweet little garden wedding with 50 people. Your boss gifted you Giovanni Conti as your wedding planer.
Suddenly your simple wedding dress from a vintage store was now a Vera Wang one that she send you, it was crazy and it happened fast.
While wonwoo was busy working, your list with guests got longer and longer, your bill got higher and higher and your vision got bigger and bigger.
After work you always laid next to Wonwoo on the couch explaining him the details while he listened with a smile on his lips. „I'm sure it will be perfect my love" he kissed your forehead softly „remember the suit fitting with Armani tomorrow" you rambled and he pulled you on his lap „let's forget about everything for a second" with that he kissed along your neck.
But things were to perfect, you became obsessed with the idea of the perfect wedding that you forgot about the most important part.
Your soon to be husband.
Everyday after work you were busy with planing while he waited for you to cuddle, to talk about your day, for you to ask about his.
He looked at you with so much love in his eyes that he ignored to feeling of regret bubbling up.
„The dress fits absolutely perfect" Minjae said smiling while you felt her heart breaking „Jae, I'll cancel everything if you want me too" you took her hands in yours „Chan is stupid for cheating!" she wiped her tears away „it's your night, so let's have some fun" she put on her best smile and you two walked out of the room.
Wonwoo was waiting for you in his suit, looking as handsome as always. „You're breathtaking" he said gasping while pulling you closer „I adore you" he softly kissed you.
„I love you Wonu, so much" you said honest while smoothing out his tie. „Let's not keep the guests waiting" you took his hand walking into the huge dining room.
Everyone clapped as you two made the entrance.
I mean, you two looked majestic walking hand in hand inside the building.
„Thank you all for coming, we are forever grateful for all the loving people around us, Wonwoo and me, thank you all for being here on this journey with us, so let's enjoy the food! To the love" you said with a proud smile and Wonwoo watched you with fond eyes.
While you all talked and had some drinks Wonwoo went out with the boys having a smoke, when he gets nervous he sometimes takes a puff but tonight he declined just watching the busy streets of Seoul.
„Man you're gonna be married, settled" JeongHan laughed „first one to settle"
Yes Wonwoo was the first one of his friends to get married. „But I'm really excited-„ before he could finish the taxi parked and Chan got out.
„Hey Nonu, congrats, I wasn't sure if I was invited because Minjae is the maid of honor" he scratched his neck.
„No chan that's fine" wonwoo said „just maybe keep a good distance to Jae" he said carefully. „I'll grab a drink"
„He looked miserable" Mingyu said while watching after him „he cheated with his secretary after Minjae and him had a fight about sex and she said she doesn't enjoy it anymore" he explained.
„But he loved her, I can't understand" Wonwoo muttered „mistakes can happen" Seokmin whispered . „Let's not talk about that right now" Wonwoo said and the boys nodded walking inside.
„NO I WANT YOU TO LEAVE DON'T EVER TALK TO ME AGAIN" with that Minjae stormed out of the room and she looked at Wonwoo „I would think twice before agreeing to a marriage" she spat and Wonwoo´s heart fell into his stomach.
Why would she say something tonight? Before he could think more about it Y/N took his hand „I'm gonna head home with the girls, I'm gonna see you at the chapel tomorrow?" she had the biggest smile on her face „I'm gonna see you tomorrow, have fun tonight" he said while softly leaning down to kiss her.
The night didn't end well for Wonwoo, he sat in his leather chair thinking about everything that just had happened. About the last two months. About how they wanted the smallest wedding and now it's one of the biggest weddings.
How you talked non stop about the people that will be there, how you didn't ask about his day at work anymore. He dialed your number „Nonu, is something wrong?" He could hear the chatters in the background „baby" he breathed „wait Minjae" you giggled.
„Sleep well, I love you." he said and ended the call. You got ready the next morning, your dress already on and the last touch was your lip gloss, you smacked your lips and smiled „I'm gonna be Mrs Jeon in a few hours" you looked at your best friend and she nodded „I can't believe it!" You hugged her softly and she sobbed slightly „you look so beautiful, Wonwoo can be lucky to have you"
„Y/N the car is already waiting for you!" your friends rushed outside with you, you all got into the limousine and took a Glas champagne „to Wonwoo and Y/N" Minjae said and you all cheered.
„I can't believe I'm too late at my own wedding" you said with a slight giggle and you got out of the car, you did not realize the car behind you with your fiance inside pleading that you look at him.
„Come on baby look at me, I need to know that it's still about us" he whispered, but you only rushed inside.
„Okay the wedding can start now" you said but the priest furrowed his eyebrows „that will not be possible" „What do you mean?"
„I mean that the husband is not here" he said nervous.
Your heart stopped, you felt like all the air got out of you lungs. „What do you mean?" she frantically asked „someone give me the phone" you said panicked „SOMEONE GIVE ME THE PHONE" Minjae gave her the phone.
You dialed his number and within a seconds he picked up „y/n" he whispered „where are you?" you asked with hurt in your voice „y/n I called a dozen times"
„WHERE ARE YOU" you yelled „I'm in the car, I can't walk in there, I don't think this is about us anymore "his quivering voice spoke, she gasped „so you're ditching me? On my wedding?"
„Baby please, I tried to call you" he pleaded „I can't believe this" she whispered and let the phone fall „get me out of here" she whispered „where is he?" Minjae asked „he left me here, he did not show up" you breathed „he won't come" you realized what you had just said.
„He won't come" you sobbed „get me out of here please" you began to panic and your friend helped you to get out. You got into the car and you felt like your world just crumpled apart.
You could not believe this. What has just happened?
When Wonwoo's driver began to drive he felt like choking, he felt like all the air has left his lungs "fuck turn around, FUCK" he realized what he had done. But before he could react he saw the car passing by "Y/N" he screamed out of the window, but the car drove further until you heard the brakes.
Wonwoo got out and he saw you getting out aswell "listen baby, I did not meant to, I was not thinking straight" but you showed no mercy, your pink bouquet landed with slaps against his chest, you screamed at him.
"YOU USED ME" You screamed "I HATE YOU SO MUCH" the petals were flying around "how could you do that" you whispered heartbroken and your friends carried you back to the car "don't ever claim your love again" you looked at him with so much pain in your eyes that he felt like screaming.
The people around you looked at the scenario in front of them and you could not blame them, you would look aswell.
When Wonwoo watched you drive away he got into the car driving towards the Apartment you both shared.
He walked over to the whiskey table, grabbing directly the entire bottle.
Meanwhile you walked inside Minjaes building, your Make up smudged, you hair messy and your white dress full of Mascara stains.
You walked passed the mirror and you began to Panic "get me out of it" you pulled at the white fabric, it felt like the dress would suffocate you "GET ME OUT OF THIS" you cried and Minjae grabbed some scissors.
"do it" Hyerin said and the cut the ties so that the dress fell down, you fell to the floor and just sobbed.
Three weeks passed, three weeks where he did not get any response from you, his friends told him that you went on the honeymoon trip with Minjae. He wondered how you are, he wondered if you're still thinking about the day, because the only thing he could think about was the moment you left. How you took his heart with you.
He started staying late at work because he could not deal with the empty bed, he worked so much that his colleagues began to worry. But he shut down everyone, he felt empty and like the biggest douche ever.
He entered the apartment at 11 pm on a Tuesday when he saw your shoes at the entrance, he rushed inside placing his work bag on the floor "Y/N?" he walked inside the living room where you were sitting on the couch, you were dressed in a beautiful summer dress, but you did look tired.
"You're back" he whispered and you could only nod "I saw your message, and I think we need to talk, we need to talk about what has happened so that I can finish this chapter and close this book" Wonwoos heart fell into his stomach "no baby, there is no closing this book, finishing this chapter yes, we will redo this." he lifted your chin softly "we will focus on us, only us" his thumb stroke your cheek.
"you and me Baby, only us" he leaned his forehead against yours "you don't know how sorry I am, god there's nothing more that I want than marrying you" he was completely honest.
"But I want us alone, I want nobody around us" before he could say anything else you kissed him "I really hope you don't ditch me again" you whispered jokingly.
"god I missed you" he lifted you up kissing you softly, while he carried you inside the bedroom.
And here you were now one week later at the registry office, standing next to wonwoo.
"I declare you as Mr. and Mrs. Jeon" the elder lady said and smiled at you two "you may now kiss the bride" and Wonwoo wasted no time, he kissed you passionate and you smiled into the kiss.
"we did it" you cheered "we did it baby, you and me" he agreed to you and kissed you again.

(open) TAGLIST: @onlyjaeyun
The hours of the day passed like minutes as the anxiety of the party you were going to attend crept up your spine. It’s not like you were scared or uncomfortable, in fact you felt as comfortable as could be because the reassuring presence of your best friend of 7 years.
Growing up with an older brother meant his best friends were almost always over and eventually as some time passed those friends became some of your closest companions. Especially Jake, you were the closest to him out of everyone, he was the Park sibling favourite. Growing up with Jaeyun you witnessed him go from a nerdy quiet 14 year old to a a popular frat boy everyone dreamed of but throughout that growth he was always just Jaeyun or Jae to you and nothing could change that, every year was the same but this year. This year was different, every day at school you see his smile light up like a bright sun which has always made you weak in the knees giving you a butterfly rampage in your stomach. Each evening you find yourself laying facing your wall like some sort of kid making stupid noises while scrolling through his endless archive of photos on instagram. Worst thing about this crush was that he was feeding into your delusions like an idol giving out fan service. His eyes were always on you, your DMs were pinned to the top of his socials, he even had you as his wallpaper even though it was just a candid picture of you and Sunghoon that he took. You would never risk asking him to be yours so all the slight touches and knee buckling whispers you shared were meaningless. The possessiveness in you made you feel sick about the thought of tipsy and almost drunk girls dangling off of Jake’s shoulder like cheap jewellery knowing all they wanted was just to get in his bed for one night. It was selfish, you were selfish. You knew he’d only want to make sure they arrived home safely and kindly brushing off their sexual gestures like the gentleman he was but inside of you there was always a lingering feeling of disappointment and fear when his big puppy like eyes left yours. It’s called being an attention whore. You thought he felt like he was still a big brother to you and you’re nothing but a his best mate’s little sister he had to babysit, that’s all you were ever going to be Sunghoon’s cool little sister.
-
Your body reflected in the mirror Jae helped you put up, whilst examining the outfit you had on a far memory of the moving day popped up in you head remember how Jae helped you and Sunghoon move in to your shared apartment far from your parents and how your luck that day was nonexistent, it was a smooth ride until you a dropped a box full of clothes in front of him exposing the smallest pairs of underwear and mini dresses you owned right at jaehyun’s feet. In that box was the dress you were wearing tonight, a simple short black dress that rose just above your knees with lace cutouts accentuating your curves, with the failure of the last party you and your crew attended you decided to go all out and wear the sluttiest piece of clothing you owned to catch a certain someone’s attention, all types of thoughts blared in your head of how the night could potentially go until you hear a voice snap you out of your thoughts,
“You look like a statue” you heard his accented voice tell you,
“What?” Your body finally turned around to look the man in his eyes, you read his expression yet you couldn’t tell what he was thinking. His gaze churned with a look of shock and disbelief, jaw dropping and eyes widening at the sight of your outfit,
“What.” You asked again, this time with a hint of insecurity lacing your tone thinking the outfit you chose made you look unflattering when it was the complete opposite. You would never care what anyone especially a guy would think of you and your style choices and yet you always wanted Jake’s approval.
“Why are you so fucking pale?” you sighed at his words, hoping to calm down your nerves and heart rate before you collapse with his intense look still lingering on you. What a strange reaction to seeing your best friend all dolled up.
“Oh I don’t know Jaeyun” your voice retorted, ‘’maybe it’s because you look like you just saw a ghost-”
“Woah don’t pull out the government name” he fake sulked pulling his hands up to his chest covering his dramatically wounded heart letting his expression default to his normal cheery self after a while.
“I didn’t even say anything no need to bark at me” his amused voice echoed through your head as his eyebrows cocked up,
“I would never bark for or at you Mr Sim” the fabric of his dress shirt burned your fingertips as you poked the older male to tease him for his previous statement. You didn’t even know what was going through you at this point, you were best friends for 7 years along with your brother, the three of you were like family so it just felt so wrong and disturbing to all of a sudden have these sort of thoughts and feelings for someone sunghoon claimed to be his ‘brother from another mother’. It’s just a tiny crush and that was the most you’d ever admit. As far as you knew both you and Hoon were in love with him but in two completely different ways, he had so much platonic love and admiration for him yet you just wanted to climb onto of him and make him yours, you obviously never really did anything about your strange attraction because you never dared break the line between your brother and your his best friend.
“My empathy senses are tingling, what’s wrong?” His bigger hand clutched your pointer finger and moves it away from his chest letting his finger tips linger on you for a little longer than necessary.
“Nothing...” that’s a lie something really was wrong and you knew it because every time he touched you you felt a spark go down your spine and your head get a little dazed. Even at the most minuscule and innocent touches you wanted to lose your cool and scream like a banshee. Not wanting to push you out of your comfort zone he dropped the topic and started leading you out of the bedroom towards the main entrance where everyone else including your brother had gathered.
“Y/nnie... you look beautiful tonight” you were met with a hug from heeseung the oldest of the bunch. Heeseung was the most lightweight person you knew since everyone around you were slightly tipsy whilst seung was already giggling to himself after the 3 pre-party drinks he shared with the crew. You gave the oldest a pursed lipped smile and a small laugh imagining the chaos that would unfold once the party was in its peak. Meanwhile, Jake’s eyes never left your face again trying to read your mind and ignore his own feelings of jealousy igniting.
“I’m gonna steal Miss Park for a second if that’s fine with you” his hand tugged on your arm leading you away from the group before anyone could protest, you heard Hoon shout something about no funny business after you and Jake left the group yet you paid it no attention. You didn't need Jake's words to guide you as you followed him towards the empty living room like a lovesick puppy, he practically dragged you there like a marionette.
“Alright, tell me.” The words left his mouth after hiding behind a door to the next room leaving the group stranded in the hallway,
"Nothing I'm fine" you shrugged him off lightly trying to smile as genuinely as you could,
"Y/n come on, stop drowning and wallowing in self pity, I know somethings wrong and I’m not gonna let it ruin ou- your night" his words genuine and eyes were sincere.
“If it’s about last time then I’m still sorry, I’ll apologise as many times as I have to” you felt yourself cringe at the memory of the last party you two attended.
“For goodness sake don’t bring that up, please just leave that in the past!” You hissed out the words through your gritted teeth letting Jake know it’s still a sensitive topic. Another reason for your random mood drop was the agonising memories of the last party you attended alone with Jake.
—
He wouldn’t stop talking and laughing with the most gorgeous girl you’ve ever seen paying you little to no attention leaving you wandering thought the packed house alone. Manoeuvring thought sweaty dancing bodies until you felt a hand on your shoulder. You caught a glimpse of a grinning smile you recognised somewhere but your drunken eyes couldn’t recognise who it was until you heard him ask you to dance. You almost immediately recognised Nicholas agreeing to dance with him. Your idgaf mentality snuck up on you as you felt your hips push with his, you were as they say dancing without leaving space for Jesus. The alcohol infiltrating your veins blurred your mind as you look up at Nicholas realising just how attractive he is and to get your mind off Jake and his walking talking one night stand you made a move. You felt his plush lips press on yours igniting a flame only Jake has ever set afire, his sharp eyes darkened as he pulled you aside to an empty room letting you continue what you started. All was going well, Jake and that bimbo were out of your subconscious and you were getting all hot and bothered with a beautiful man letting his hands roam all over your barley covered body feeling a pool of arousal build as his explored your mouth. His deeper than usual voice asking you if you really wanted to do this you purred out a response telling him that you’re up for it it he is. His soft hands tracing up your thighs as all the space between you was gone, but of course you can’t have one peaceful night in your life and Jake and the devil herself stumbled in the room almost eating each others faces. It took no time for Jake to realise the situation and he pushed the girl off of him and landed his palm on his neck thinking of something to say and yet no words came out.
Embarrassed, angry and disappointed you let your body run out of the room leaving Nicholas and Jake exchanging looks, one of embarrassment and awkwardness and the other of pure rage and shock.
Never in your life have you wanted two guys to fight over you. Well that’s a lie, you did but not like this. Not in a public place surrounded by people you know and that are actively in your social circle but that didn’t stop from Nicholas and jake rushing after you.
“Wait!” One of them called out after you, it didn’t matter who it was you just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. It didn’t take long for them to catch up with you as you stood outside the building trying to catch a breathe after suffocating inside for what felt like hours. Jake approached you pushing Nicholas out of the way. It only took a few seconds for your rage to build up and push Jake away from your body and your intoxicated body stumbling from your own impact,
“You dick.” Your emotionless voice whispered, Jakes hurt voice mumbled a quiet what to your reaction,
“You Sim Jaeyun are the biggest dick I’ve ever met, you’re fucking unbelievable” you slurred out louder than before watching as Jake’s face twisted into a pained expression mirroring the same one he pulled a few hours before in the safety of your own rooms. Before Jake could reply you started walking off feeling like you were about to vomit from all the emotions you felt,
"Wai-" he called out again attempting to take off going after you until Nicholas blocked you out of his way,
“Not now dude” nicho defended you trying to give you space like a good friend he was. You were still walking not caring about the tears pouring down your cheeks. You stopped abruptly when you heard the sound of a punch, pulling you back towards the entrance of the party where Jake stood pulling the boy by his collar. The sight knocked wind out of your lungs as you rushed back to Nicholas’ side watching as a small trail of blood slid from his nose. That was enough for you to turn around and slap your brother’s best friend straight in the face,
“You ignore me for majority of the party, you start trying to fuck that girl inches away from me and then you let me leave ALONE in a house full of drunk dudes that smells like booze and weed” you got closer to his face poking your finger on his chest making him back up a little.
“Then once I finally find a nice guy you and your leech interrupt the only part of the night i would’ve enjoyed and now what you punch him in him face for stepping up for me?” You let out a dry laugh of disbelief not wanting to believe that someone you called your best friend would do that. Why couldn't he just get it over with right now, like ripping off a bandaid and tell you now. Tell you how you drive him to insanity, why couldn't he be honest with his own desires? If only you knew he wouldn't let anyone hurt you, letting the mixture of alcohol and his shame of wanting to forget you get the worst of him.
“You are such a pussy, I genuinely can’t even look at you right now Jake!” Your voice raising in anger before you delivered the final blow,
“What would Sunghoon think? Hm?” The humiliation that rested with the name of your brother broke his mind, reminiscing over the nights when he did all those things behind Hoon’s back letting himself give in to the temptation you brought along.
“What would MY brother think of you when he find out you left your only responsibility of the night to get some pussy? That you’re too busy being a man whore for a girl who’s name you don’t know and will probably never speak to again, making her your priority”.
You’ve never seen Jake cry before so the sight of tears welling up in his eyes made your heart swell with an inexplainable ache never in your 7 years of friendship have you seen Jake let out a tear whatsoever unleash a tsunami of emotion, never did you expect that at some point in your life you'd have to witness the real Jake instead of the usually happy faced guy who never shows his pain or sadness to you. It was then when you realised the real problem was not you wanting him, the problem was something much deeper and serious since the Jake you knew would never let you down like this.
“Honestly Jake, you’re lucky she ran into me and not some dude that would do fuck all to her” and with that you left with Nicholas driving you back home promising yourself you’ll never attend a party after that at least not with Jake.
—
It took weeks for Jake to get back onto your and Hoon’s radar after days and days of ignoring his texts. You wanted to talk to him but you felt so ashamed and hurt you couldn’t look at him, but now that was all in the past. Both you and Sunghoon forgave him sooner than later not wanting to waste the beautiful 7 years you held together over a girl and Jake’s raging hormones.
After what felt like forever Jake finally snapped you back into reality with his hand on your shoulder,
“I promise I won’t leave you again.” His voice whispered into your ear as he let his body swallow you into a hug.
“I’ll be stuck to you like glue until you tell me to piss off” you finally let out a breath you didn’t realise you were holding in until he started tracing circles on your neck. Sim Jaeyun will be the death of you one day.
After that whole moment, you felt relief as you walked back into the hallway getting ready to leave not noticing the glances of suspicion jay, hoon and sunoo exchanged at your return.
The ride to the party was short and loud as you were squished between heeseung and Jake. You loved the little crew of friends you acquired but damn were they loud, you were sort of glad that they were though because all that noise the boys were producing interrupted the voice of anxiety that’s been marinating in the back of your mind since the morning.
Once you arrived at the house , you could hear music blaring from inside the house along with yells and laughter from people doing dumb shit for the fun of it, this was exactly what you were hoping for.
“Do you have any idea how much effort I went through to not smell like weed?” you you heard a shout form the other side of the door eventually locking eyes with the culprit. Yeonjun rushed over welcoming his friends with open arms, it was no doubt that yeonjun threw the best monthly parties ever, like the ones you see in euphoria or project x and being a music major himself he always had the best playlists to drink and dance to.
Another skill of his was decorating his beautifully prestigious home into a total party house, your gaze lingered on the designed windows showcasing the large backyard where the rest of the party was going down. His excuse for throwing another massive party was that it was someone birthday, who’s? A random man he met outside of a shop the day before, it wasn’t even known if the birthday boy was there himself but that didn’t stop him from celebrating the dudes birth. You were more than grateful that you had friends that you could fuck around with and forget the mundanity of being a student with a 9/5 job.
The environment of the house changed completely when you entered the backyard, whilst yeonjun may have claimed he just put some tables and chairs out, he totally went above and beyond. He placed strings of fairy lights from the ceiling of patio to the railings of the pool umbrellas. Everyone was dancing enjoying their night with a few faces you’ve never seen before but before you could leave and socialise Jake jogged to you bringing over some drinks he got from the liquor table claiming it’s yeonjun’s magic party elixir.
You doubted that yeonjun actually knew how to make a ‘magic potion’ but knowing him and his ways of labelling things you weren’t complaining as the beverage tasted heavenly.
As you watched everyone move you couldn’t help but felt Jake’s arm slither around your waist pulling you closer his the warmth of his body. You could smell the sweet aroma of his coconut scented body wash and cologne you gifted him as an anniversary gift celebrating the past couple years you’ve spent with him.
“You seem bored, are you?” his honey voice whispered into your ear whilst the clutch on your side tightened,
“Wanna go somewhere else? I know a place here that you’d appreciate” your eyes moved to the sight of Jake’s half bitten lip trying to analyse his body language to get a hint of if tonight was the night you’d cross the line of your friendship and the boundary hoon set up between you and his best friends. A slight smirk formed on your face as you felt his hand shift from your waist to your palm leading you upstairs not noticing the pair of eyes watching the scene quietly unfold.
You reached the top of the stairs you stopped and looked around feeling a sense of dejà vu looking at the pictures of your friend group with yeonjun from previous parties plastered on the walls. Strangely enough there wasn’t a picture of party you last attended, maybe it wasn’t just you that had a bad experience that night.
Once you made it past the door of the room you saw a balcony that Jake stopped infront of locking his eyes with yours, making you feel small and comfortable under his watch. With one swift movement the balcony door flew open revealing a string of fairy lights wrapped around rusting railing casting warm colours contrasting the browns and grays of the aging metal. The view of the car littered driveway ignited a feeling of peace, a feeling of relaxation and happiness as the cool night breeze hit your legs making you shiver.
“What would you say if you and me went somewhere beyond whatever we have right now?” Jake’s body pressed onto the railing letting his shoulders relax,
“Jake, are you trying to flirt with me?”
“I mean…” his shoulders lifted into a shrug,
“I guess I’ve been trying for the last 3 years” you definitely misheard what he said.
“Sorry?” Your breathy voice questioned the confession,
“For years I needed you, in secrecy and silence…” Jake let his head drop to his chest as the words carelessly left his thoughts. The Shakespearean words that left his mouth gave you a feeling of unease as anxiety consumed both you and him at the reaction of his best friend and your brother finding out about the nature of the situation you pushed yourself into. His mind travelled back to the memory of the night you fought and for a moment everything seemed scarily surreal. No matter how hard he tried it seemed nearly impossible to keep it together. The guilt of staying up all night to talk to you long after Hoon went to sleep only to hang up at 3am and try to ignore the aching tent in his pants. The dishonour of having to look his best friend in the eyes a couple hours after having perverted dreams about his younger sister.
“Please… say something” The self loathing broke through his words causing you to look away for a moment before snapping back to situation,
"You wanted me for years but kept quiet about it?"
"Yes" His face fell under the glow,
“Why are you telling me now?” You've known Jake for 7 years now and in almost half the time he was always fighting against his attraction towards you. The teasing has been endless as well as the flirting that seemed meaningless but now you see it in a different light than before.
He always told himself to be strong and stay away from you because of what would happen if anyone found out about this, the rumours that might surface since he didn’t necessarily have the best reputation, how much it would hurt Hoon, especially when he promised to take care of his only sibling. You both knew each other well, hell you two even got changed in the same room but no matter how many times he promised himself to take things slow and move on you always stumbled in pushed him to his limit. Why did it take so long? Why did his thought spill like water out of a tap?
"Because it's been too long”
his body now taking baby steps towards your upright and stiff body. A glint of hunger lacing his bittersweet words, it was never supposed to go this far. Jake gave up on girls when he met you and swore off having a relationship because no girl compared to you choosing to temporarily live a life without real intimacy since you were off limits. You don't understand why he was so honest to you after years of masking and hiding and maybe you would’ve found out right then and there if it wasn’t for the intrusive knock on the bedroom door behind you. Jake jumped away from you to open the door only to see the same eyes that pierced your back when you escaped upstairs with Jake.
I did it! I finally finished this fix that I was supposed to post like 2 months ago. Now you’re just gonna have to wait for me to write part 2 😚 (it will probably be here in like 2 weeks or smth since I’m back from my writing vacation). I kinda rushed the end and if you didn’t understand what the text in italics meant it was a flashback to the party accident that caused y/n to feel anxious about that party. I’ll also mention that English isn’t my first language so if there are errors please just let your inner voice autocorrect it.

siesta. | s. myeong-oh
▹ a/n : hello loves, long time no upload. I have missed you dearly *virtual smoochhhh* I never write for dramas but I enjoyed the glory so much I had to write something for it, you don’t really need to have watched the show to understand this. sidenote, if you already know you don’t like son myeong-oh’s character and are about to send me a rude message or comment just remember that YOU alone are responsible for the content you consume! in other words keep it pushing or you will be blocked.
▹ triggers : dubious consent, detailed smut, unprotected sex, creampie, mirror sex, overstimulation, slight size kink if you squint, myeong-oh’s character alone is a trigger tbh..
▹ pairing : son myeong-oh x fem!reader
▹ synopsis : there’s a living, breathing reason that you hate going to siesta, it’s six foot and attached to a man bun.
••
You released a shaky breath as you craned your neck back to peer up at the bright neon sign that hung above the expensive department store’s grand entrance. Your feet remained bolted to the pavement beneath you, unwilling to inch forward and enter the store. Not even the unforgiving cold and heavy rain that was pouring down on you was enough to will yourself to push through the shiny glass store doors.
You grimaced as you caught a glimpse of your reflection in the glass.
You looked a right mess. It was nearing the end of your busy work day, only one final task lied ahead of you before you could go home to a hot shower and a meal. Your bangs were sticking to your forehead unflatteringly, due to a mixture of sweat and rain. Your clothes were sticking to your body in an uncomfortable manner as well. You had fallen into a daze as you grimaced at your unkempt appearance.
It was the vibration of your phone stuffed deep in your coat’s pocket that made you jump. You fished the device out of your pocket to see a new message from Yeon-Jin.
‘pick up more stockings on your way back, these are too dark.’
You had begun working for newscaster Park Yeon-Jin a few months ago. Her last assistant inexplicably quit on her, or at least that was the story you were given by Yeon-Jin’s driver your second day working for her. After a few months of working for someone like Yeon-Jin you knew there was more than likely a more sinister reason that the last girl quit. You had come to realize that Yeon-Jin was a viperous individual. It was a marvel that you had managed to last this long working for her, none of her other assistants seemed to last as long as you had.
You didn’t think that had anything to do with your resolve or patience and more to do with the fact that Park Yeon-Jin was in the middle of a very public divorce from her former husband Ha Do-yeong. Coupled with the fact that there were rumours circulating that she was a bully in high school. She was under more scrutiny than ever, everyone watching her actions closely. With that being said, Yeon-Jin was more than likely more tolerable these days than in the past. She was more dismissive of you than anything else, although you had heard the horror stories of how she treated her hired help in the past. You weren’t really in a position to complain about having to work for her anyways, the ever present threat of homelessness was enough to motivate you to keep this job. Your work consisted mainly of running errands for her. Which is the reason you were standing outside in the rain in front of this store.
Yeon-Jin’s last task for you today was to pick up her dress and bring it to her so she could be prepared for tomorrow.
A simple enough task. The only issue being the store in question.
Siesta.
You hated coming here. In your short time working for Yeon-Jin you had been called to come here numerous times for a plethora of reasons, mostly picking up her clothes or whatever else she needed. You hated this place for two reasons. The owner, Jeon Jae-Jun had immediately proven himself to be just as elitist and callous as Yeon-Jin within the first few seconds of meeting him. Your chest still tightens as you recall the first time you met him here at Siesta and he had mocked your simple ballet flats. From that day forward Yeon-Jin had required you to be wearing heels to work every day.
The second reason being Jae-Jun’s driver.
Son Myeong-Oh.
You had grown to dislike all of Yeon-Jin’s friends in time. But Son Myeong-Oh left a particularly bitter taste in your mouth. He made you uncomfortable in a way you couldn’t describe.
You especially did not like that he always seemed to be there whenever you needed to go to Siesta. Like, he was waiting around lingering for the chance that you might show up.
Feeling that you had wasted enough time loitering around outside you shuffled inside after typing a quick reply back to Yeon-Jin confirming that you were picking up her dress now.
The door dinged cheerfully as you crossed the threshold into the store. It was long past operating hours, but you knew that Myeong-Oh was without a doubt here and waiting for you. His bike had been parked out front, taunting you silently as you worked up the courage to go inside.
Your Yeon-Jin issued heels clicked satisfyingly against the marble floor as you moved through the store, stopping at the door of the dressing room.
You hadn’t even been standing there for more than a second before the door opened to reveal the man who made the hair on the back of your neck stand up at the sight of him. He had his long hair down instead of in his usual bun. He was donning a mink coat you were almost certain belonged to Jae-Jun. His usual sick smirk already plastered on his face.
“You look like shit, how long were you standing out in the rain for?” He asked, his lips curling up to reveal his pearly whites.
You scoffed, it was true, you did look awful, you had spent the day running around behind Yeon-Jin, helping her prepare for a big day in court tomorrow, you didn’t even have time for a lunch break.
“I see you’ve been playing in Jae-Jun’s closet again.” You answered flatly, your eyes falling to the expensive furs.
Myeong-Oh cut you a sharp glare to which you ignored. That was the best way to deal with Myeong-Oh. Ignore him a much as possible and engage with him for as little as possible when forced.
“I’m here for Yeon-Jin’s dress.” You announced.
And just that quickly his smile had returned, he pushed opened the door to the dressing room further allowing you a peek in.
Your eyes immediately landed on Yeon-Jin’s dress for tomorrow, carefully wrapped in plastic and draped along the couch.
Myeong-Oh leaned against the frame of the doorway, “Come on then.”
You waited a second to see if he had any intention of moving and to your dismay he did not. Cautiously, you stepped forward and slid past him. Quickly ducking your head underneath his arm to get by. You scooped the dress up in your arms, doing a quick inspection to check for anything wrong with it.
Satisfied with the state of the dress, just as quickly as you had entered the dressing room you turned on your heels to exit.
You knew it wouldn’t be that easy. Not with somebody like Myeong-Oh involved and as expected, he stopped you in your tracks before you could reach the door. His tall frame blocking the doorway like a brick wall.
“You’re always in such a rush to leave. Stay and have a drink with me at least.” He suggested, his gaze moving from your eyes down to your body.
He was always so honest with his thoughts without even trying. You hated that. He never made any effort to conceal the fact that he was undressing you with his eyes. He was completely shameless.
“Yeon-Jin is waiting for me.” You stated.
And even if she wasn’t, you could think about a million other things you’d rather be doing with your Friday night then sitting at Siesta drinking with Son Myeong-Oh of all people.
“I just talked to Jae-jun, the two of them are together now, trust me you have plenty of time.” Myeong-Oh countered with a dry chuckle.
You realized now that Yeon-Jin’s text from earlier about picking up more stockings was probably just to get you to take more time. Which you were actually grateful for. You still cringe whenever you think about the first time you’d accidentally walked in on the two lovers here at Siesta.
Before you could come up with another excuse, he was already at the makeshift bar in the corner, pulling a bottle off the shelf along with two glasses.
“Just one drink.” He said, holding the bottle of expensive brandy out for you to inspect.
You glanced down at your watch on your wrist and then to the window. It was still pouring out there and you weren’t thrilled about having to go back out there again anytime soon.
Not wanting to satisfy him with an answer you quietly shuffled over to the couch, taking a seat.
You watched closely as Myeong-Oh filled the glasses with ice before joining you on the couch. Even after deliberately isolating yourself to the far end of the long couch Myeong-Oh’s cologne invaded your senses. That was very characteristic of him even though it wasn’t purposeful.
Myeong-Oh always insisted upon being the loudest person in the room, and always the flashiest, like him adorning himself in flamboyant stolen mink coats from Jae-Jun’s closet. Even him driving a motorcycle instead of a regular car felt very on brand for him. He’s so painfully transparent and predictable.
You must’ve started zoning out again because you felt a slight pinch on the exposed meat of your arm.
“What was that for?” You questioned, looking over to meet his gaze.
“You started ignoring me. I don’t like that.” He answered frankly, he slid your glass over to you.
You watched as he cracked the bottle open, peeling it’s waxy wrapper off the neck of the bottle. He filled your glass first. The brandy was a beautiful shade of amber. You weren’t much of a drinker and even when you did it wasn’t ever anything fancy. You were a simple girl in that regard.
“Thanks.” You said as you brought the glass to your lips.
You could feel his burning gaze on you as he waited for you to take the first sip. The brandy had a surprisingly sweet, almost caramel-esque aroma but it burned the minute it hit your throat.
You forced the liquor down, unable to hold back a cough and the disgusted look that took up residence on your face.
Myeong-Oh let out a laugh, even clapping for added flair.
“It’s terrible, right?” He asked as he leaned back, sinking further into the couch cushions. He took a sip from his own glass.
“You knew what it tasted like already? Why are you still drinking it?” You asked, puzzled.
He shrugged his shoulders, “It tastes awful but it’s expensive, a single bottle of this would cost me two months of my salary.”
You hummed, “Well, it wouldn’t be worth it anyway.”
Your mouth still felt like it was on fire from the first sip but you were compelled to try it again.
The second sip went down smoother. Still just as terrible though.
You felt his lingering gaze on you once more, he was always doing that. Always staring at you for far too long, he did it so often that Yeon-Jin of all people was the first one to bring it your attention, only to laugh at your expense of being preyed upon of course, not because she was genuinely concerned or anything.
“Why do you always do that?” You questioned, turning slightly to look him in the eye.
“What?”
“The staring. Don’t you know that it’s rude?” You asked,
He laughed again, “Sure it is, but I don’t care. You have a lot worth admiring.” He answered truthfully,
He leaned in closer, “Does it make you uncomfortable?”
You weren’t quite sure how to answer that. Of course the answer was yes but making that admission felt like letting him win. You felt frozen in place under his intense gaze. You felt like he could read all of your thoughts even before you spoke them.
He took advantage of your silence and boldly placed his hand on your thigh. You suddenly felt more exposed than you truly were in your skirt that left you vulnerable to his wandering hand.
His hand was warm and big, large enough to completely encapsulate your thigh in his hand if he wanted to. Your breath hitched as he gave you a gentle squeeze on the thigh. You tore your eyes away from his to peer down at the hand that was now moving down your leg.
You gasped as he suddenly in one swift motion brought your leg to drape across his lap.
The familiar feeling of goosebumps rested across your skin, this time felt a little different. There was an unfamiliar gentleness in the way he was handling you. Perhaps it wasn’t goosebumps you were experiencing, maybe the word you were looking for was anticipation.
“You should take these off. Get comfortable.” Myeong-Oh suggested, already sliding the heels off your tired feet before you could answer.
Using your ankle he pulled you down the length of the couch until you were pressed as closely into him as you thought possible. He used his free hand to place a hand on your neck in a subtle show of dominance.
The room suddenly felt three times smaller, the air between you growing in temperature.
He leaned in further, his lips immediately finding your neck. He peppered sweet pecks along the expanse of the sensitive skin there. You had to grip your hand on his shirt to stop yourself from tilting your head further to provide him with more access.
Your phone vibrated in your pocket again, drawing you out of your enchantment, “Yeon-Jin’s probably waiting for me.” You said, sliding your leg off of his lap.
He caught your leg in his hand again before you could pull it away entirely. His grasp on you tightening as he whispered in your ear, “Let her wait.”
“I really should go, she’ll be mad if I keep her waiting-
Myeong-Oh ignored you and pulled Yeon-Jin’s dress away that you were still clutching protectively and carelessly tossed it to the floor, “She won’t melt if she’s left waiting for a little longer.” He answered.
“I know, but she’s still my boss-
He cut you off by shifting his weight to lean into you further, pushing you down onto the soft couch cushions. Myeong-Oh hovered over you, his gaze traveling down to your cleavage.
“And so what? she’s a bitch, so let her wait.” His gaze only lifting momentarily to meet yours.
You parted your lips to make a rebuttal but he silenced you by crashing his lips down onto yours. The kiss was eager and hungry, your teeth almost clashing a few times. Naturally, your hands found themselves tangled in his long locks.
He didn’t waste too much more time on your lips before his wandering hands started moving again.
“You look pretty like this, small and tiny under me.” He said as his hand slipped under your shirt.
He moved down your body, raising your shirt to plant kisses along your midriff. He leaned back slightly to shrug the mink coat off of his shoulders, exposing his bare chest and arms to you. The muscles under his skin moved as he did, the tattoos that painted his golden skin dancing with subtlety. You released your hold on his hair to drag your fingertips across the lion that resided on his chest.
He grasped your hand, pressing your hand flat against his chest. His heartbeat thumping against the palm of your trembling hand.
You took over this time, making the move to peel your still damp clothes from your body, starting with your coat. You felt powerful as he looked down at you with desire, his breathing pattern changing as you lifted your shirt over your head. You took a large inhale, reminding yourself to remain brave as your hand fumbled with the clasp of your bra.
He released a deep guttural groan at the sight of your breasts falling free from your bra. His hands raising to cup them in his hands, kneading the flesh in his strong hold. You sat up some to rest on your elbows to watch as he toyed with your chest. Between your legs heated up with arousal the moment he rolled your sensitive nipple in his thumb.
He picked up the pace again, his movements switching from sweet and gentle to feverish and greedy as his mouth latched onto one of your nipples, intentionally nipping at the skin there with his teeth. You gasped, instinctively one of your hands raised to push his mouth away from your chest.
He grabbed a hold of your wrist, never ceasing his assault on your sensitive nipples. Releasing a chuckle that vibrated against your skin. His tongue expertly flicked at your nipples, obsessed with the squeals you were making.
He pulled away from your chest, a string of saliva connecting from your breasts to his mouth.
“If you look away, I’ll stop.” He warned.
He began moving further down your body, hiking your skirt up enough to reveal your cotton panties. He leaned in, inhaling your scent before planting a kiss on your clit that was still trapped under the suffocating fabric of your panties. You whined, needing more. He didn’t give in so easily, teasing you a bit more, giving you gentle kitten licks.
You knew what he was stalling for, you didn’t want to give in either but your core ached, desperate to feel his tongue flat against your dripping folds.
“Myeong-Oh...” You moaned, peering down at him with pleading eyes.
He lifted his head, replacing his tongue with his hands. He toyed with the waistband of your panties and your eyes lit up for a moment, hopeful that he might finally rip them away from you to resume ravishing you.
“Maybe if you ask nicely, I’ll give you what you want. Can you do that?” He asked, pulling at the waistband of your panties, forcing the fabric to wedgie itself in between your folds, rubbing right against your throbbing clit. The friction felt heavenly, you tried to rotate your hips in hope of finding some relief but it still wasn’t enough.
“Please...” You whined, jutting your bottom lip out in a pitiful pout.
He tugged harder on your waistband, biting your inner thigh as he wedgied your panties further against your clit, “Please...what?”
“Please...I want you to...lick my pussy.” You breathed, your face heating up with embarrassment.
Satisfied with your answer he didn’t waste anymore time in yanking your panties to the side and diving in, his tongue instantly finding its way to your clit. You moaned, your hands finding their way to his hair again. He held your legs back with a tight grip to keep you from closing them. He had no shame in hungrily lapping at your folds, humming against your clit. Your back arched off. the couch, leaning into him. Your hips started to rock, finding a rhythm of their own as you felt your stomach tighten with anticipation for your impending orgasm.
He could sense how close you were and took the opportunity to circle his lips around your swollen clit entirely, sucking on your pearl.
Your head fell back and your grip on his hair tightened causing him to groan, the vibrations on your clit sending you over the edge. Your orgasm momentarily paralyzed you, breathing included. Your abdomen tightened to brace yourself. You could feel your thighs shaking as you rode out your orgasm. You tried to untangle yourself from him so you could fully come down from your high but his grip tightened, his tongue never stopping. He ruthlessly lapped at your clit, overstimulating you.
You whined and pushed at his shoulders trying to wriggle out of his grasp but he wouldn’t let you. Additionally, your muscles were still so relaxed from your orgasm that you couldn’t put up much of a fight. You huffed and collapsed back down flat against the couch as you resigned yourself to accepting whatever he would give you. Tears sprang from the corner of your eyes as he worked a second orgasm out of you, dipping his long fingers into your warmth to collect your stickiness.
Your mouth fell open as you watched him bring the fingers to his mouth, tasting your arousal.
He sat up, leaning back on his haunches to admire his work. Your eyes were hazy and out of focus, still reeling from the two orgasms he just gave you. He raised your legs, pushing them back as far as they would go, leaving your ankles resting at the side of your head.
His dick twitched at the sight of your creamy juices spilling out of you. He used the same two fingers to work the lost juices back into your quivering hole. He maintained a slow pace, pumping his thick fingers in and out of you.
“You opened up so nicely for me..” He praised, watching your cheeks flush a bright red.
You were embarrassed at how easily he was able to slide in and of your slick walls, fully stretching to accommodate a third finger from him.
He pulled his fingers out, suckling on them quickly before moving to undo the belt to his pants. He freed himself from his briefs, his dick bobbing freely, a bead of precum present on his tip. He manhandled you into the position he wanted before lining himself up with your entrance, he captured your lips with his, kissing you. He slid inside easily, thanking himself for taking the time to prepare you.
You welcomed him in, your walls expanding to adjust to his thick length. You moaned, feeling him stretch you out further with each thrust. They started slow, sheathing himself fully inside of you before pulling back out, his dick glistening with your arousal. He grabbed a hold of your neck again, forcing you to turn your head to the side to watch in the large mirror adjacent to the couch, his other hand held your leg back, letting him sink deeper into you.
“Look at you, look at how well you’re taking me. You’re still so tight, fuck..” He moaned in your ear, his eyes meeting yours in the mirror as he pressed his hips into yours.
It was so dirty, you were so embarrassed and wanted to tear your eyes away from the lewd sight but he refused.
“Myeong-Oh...” You moaned, your eyes getting blurry as tears filled them.
“Yes, let me hear you...I want to hear your pretty moans as I fuck you.” He said, a subtle hint of a whine at the end.
Picking up the pace, he kissed your neck, licking up the tears that were falling down your cheeks, his grip on your leg tightening. He was trying so hard to hold back, wanting to be gentle with you. But the second you reached around to claw at his back, your legs locking around his waist to push him in deeper sent him over the edge.
“Fuck..” He cursed, his jaw clenching as he snapped his hips into yours.
He was giving you long and deep strokes, the head of his dick kissing your cervix as he pounded into your swollen cunt. Your eyes started to roll back, and your breath quickened.
You were suddenly pulled from your state of bliss when you felt a smack on your outer thigh, “You should say sorry, don’t you think? For keeping this tight, wet pussy all to yourself this whole time.”
Your voice was shaky, and you struggled to make coherent sentences as he started to slam into you harder, “I-I...I’m sorry..” You answered pitifully in between moans.
He rewarded you with a kiss to the neck, rubbing the flesh where he had striked you.
“Good girl. Listen to you, listen to how wet your pussy is.” He said, angling his hips to hit deeper inside if that was even possible.
Wet squelching sounds reverberated around the spacious dressing room, coupled with both of your heavy breathing.
You rocked your hips into his, meeting his hard thrusts, your titties bouncing up and down as you did so. You didn’t think you could cum again so soon but it wasn’t long until you felt your stomach tightening again. You could tell he was close too because his thrusts were getting sloppy but quicker.
Your nails dug deep into his skin making him hiss. You needed the leverage to brace yourself for your inevitable orgasm.
“Fuck, I’m gonna come...!” You warned, still watching in the mirror as he fucked you.
He reached down to rub at your clit, the rough pads of his fingertips felt like electricity on your cute little pearl. It was enough to send you right over the edge and soon you were coming again, your thighs shaking in his hold.
He maintained the same pace, chasing after his own high. It didn’t take much longer, after a few more thrusts, he sunk all the way deep inside you before releasing, his cum filling you up nicely.
He pumped into a you a couple more times as he breathed in deeply to catch his breath. He collapsed on top of you, trapping you under his weight. The two of you lied there together catching your breaths. It was actually kind of nice, you felt safe and warm under him, you didn’t want to move.
But then your phone buzzed again and without even looking you knew it had to be Yeon-Jin.
Even now, as you lied under him naked and exposed, you still felt shy as you tapped him on the shoulder, “I’m sure that’s her...I should go now.” You sighed.
Myeong-Oh raised himself off of you, looking down at you once more, “Don’t look so sad, you’ll be seeing me again soon.” He winked, that smirk returning to his face.
You rolled your eyes and peeled yourself away from, gathering your clothes.
And just like that he’s back..
You left soon after cleaning yourself up, doing your best to make yourself look presentable. Myeong-Oh was kind enough to leave hickies and bite marks along your neck that were already on their way to turning a deep purple.
You did your best to cover with your hair and silently prayed Yeon-Jin wouldn’t notice.

When Love Reveals Itself
The intersection of public and private in life and art.
A few years ago I watched Her Private Life, a k-drama starring Park Min-young and Kim Jae-wook, both of whom I love seeing on-screen, and ONE (Jung Jae-won) who is adorably cute in this series.
If you haven't seen it, here's a synopsis...
It's ostensibly about an art gallery curator - Doekmi - and her relationship with Ryan, the newly appointed director of the gallery (a position she deserved but of course didn't get). That part of narrative is a highly satisfying but predictable rom-com.
Doekmi is also a secret fangirl, and tries desperately (hilariously) to hide this side of her life, but that doesn't work out. I love the way this is dealt with and the understanding of the complexities of fan culture shown by the writers and cast. It's very relatable.
But maybe most importantly, this was one of the first k-dramas I watched that had an overtly queer narrative strand. I wont spoil anything but Ryan (Kim Jae-wook) is an absolute fucking legend in his efforts to be an LGBTQIA+ ally, even if he gets EVERYTHING wrong.
So how does this relate to our photo of Jimin, knee deep in water and smiling like this?
Episode 5 of Her Private Life has one of the most poignant scenes I've ever watched in a k-drama.
The scene isn't part of a major plot point but there are SPOILERS here.
The scene centres on an unpublished self-portrait taken by (deceased) renowned photographer-Yoon who was famous for his landscape photography. The portrait was his final photograph, taken just before he died.
The portrait was gifted to a reclusive writer who was lifelong friends with photographer-Yoon. He owns the rights to the photo, and he won't release it for publication.
The portrait in question
Deokmi and Ryan are trying to convince the writer to allow the portrait to be displayed in an upcoming exhibition of work by photographer Yoon. The writer adamantly refuses.
Why?
Yoon is looking at someone he loves.
As Deokmi observes, the portrait shows Yoon smiling not at the camera, but at someone in front of the camera.
He is looking at someone he loves.
For the writer, the portrait reveals too much. It exposes photographer-Yoon's feelings for the person in front of the camera, who is of course the writer himself. The writer knew of Yoon's feelings for him but could never acknowledge them while his friend was alive.
Lets go back to the photo of Jimin.
Something that really struck me about this photo of Jimin is the context of it. It was during the LGO MV shooting. He was splashing Jin and laughing, creating a small, happy moment for the music video (for us).
But covid was rife and the world was at a standstill. Jimin was personally and privately devastated during this time*. It was part of the MV brief, I'm sure, to show that you could still find joy in simple things but we know he himself was not happy.
So the happiness we see in those images is not his personal happiness. Even though he does genuinely look like hes having fun, that happiness is manufactured for us.
And then he looks up at the photographer and this we get this poignant, beautiful smile. Open, unguarded, and holding nothing back, his expression is so soft, so genuinely glad to see the person behind the camera.
He is looking at someone he loves and who he knows loves him in return.
"I see you, and everything is better. The sun comes out because you’re here with me," It says.
There's a stillness in this image, as though Jimin -singled out - stopped what he was doing to look back at the photographer, shutting out all the activity surrounding the two of them and stealing a quiet moment with that person.
And that stolen moment would have remained secret and private forever, had the photographer not shared this photo.
But they did.
The photographer gave it to us.
Was this just for aesthetic reasons?
I don't believe so.
Of course, it is a beautiful portrait of Jimin. Aesthetically and emotively it's a striking photograph, but there must me HUNDREDS of beautiful photos of Jimin. The photographer could have chosen ANY of them. But they chose this one.
Now we have this moment on record.
We get to see Jimin feeling this love. We see him the way the photographer sees him. And yes, we know who he is looking at.
We know who was behind the camera.... because the photograher shared this with us too.
Jungkook makes sure we know who took that photograph.
His Private Life becomes Art
In the drama series, the writer relents and takes Doekmi and Ryan upstairs to show them a locked room. It is full of photographs of himself, taken by photographer-Yoon over many years. In all of the pictures, he looks happy. Deokmi describes it as 'a love letter to the writer, from Photographer Yoon'.
The writer admits that he is ashamed that he never acknowledged Yoon's feelings. He didn't dislike them but he didn't have the courage to respond to them, which is why he can't release the portrait now. He can't reveal to the world how Yoon felt, when its too late to tell him that he knew, and that he didn't reject that love.
Ryan looks around at all the photos and says "Did you really ignore his heart? This smile does not look like it. You did not know your own heart, but photographer Yoon could have known it. As a photographer, how could he not notice it. He knew."
Their Private Life becomes public
That photo of Jimin is everywhere. Jungkook made sure of that.
The reticence of the two men in Her Private Life is nowhere to be found here.
Jungkook took this photo of the man he loves and one look at Jimin's face tells us that love is returned.
Just like photographer Yoon, Jungkook saw it and he knew we would all see it too.
But instead of hiding the picture in a locked room for decades, Jungkook published it in the most public forum imaginable. He put it into the music video for Life Goes On.
He consciously chose for us to see that photo.
Don't forget, he was the director of that music video too...
That private stolen moment, full of love and fondness, shows Jimin at his softest and his most vulnerable.
And maybe that's a side of Jimin only Jungkook sees. Maybe Jungkook wants us to know the Jimin HE knows. The open, unguarded Jimin who wears his heart on his sleeve the way Jungkook does. The most authentic, unafraid, beautiful Jimin.
The Jimin he loves the most.
💛💜

*He told us in his Vlives, he told us in his album, he told us in his interviews. It was a hard, hard time for him.

Sunbae, something's bothering me again. But it's bothering me so much that I have a lot on my mind. So it's gotten complicated now. So I'm going to be myself and keep it simple. Let me ask you a simple question. Do you like me, sunbae? Why don't you give me a simple answer? Do you like me, Eun Jae Won? Yes.

I loved how chaotic and awkward this was. Sang Woo is my precious child and I will protect him. It’s a simple plot, but they did well with it. Loved the balance of humour and drama. Also loved the editing in this show.

a question for your ocs, what would be their ideal date with the reader? 🧐
Oh oh! This is a great question
Mikey — movie date and then dinner. Perfect for cuddling first and then some nice food after. More than likely he’d choose a horror movie so you could jump into his arms <3 (he’d be doing most of the screaming)
Yichen — just being with you is enough for him.
Vincent — dinner dates and beach picnics are his thing. Especially picnics at sunset, he likes watching the sun lower onto the ocean, it’s pretty
Keita — cat cafe. He’s older now and the little things make him happy. Drinking cute drinks and cute food with you is great
Yubin — arcade and amusement parks. He likes having fun and just enjoys thrill rides
Eun Jae — movie dates but at home. Cuddling with you while eating his favorite food is enough for him.
Kimura — anything you’d like honestly. He hasn’t been on any dates before so he’d let you choose. But he thinks picnics at a park under cherry blossoms might be nice
Riki — eating at a cafe and then going to the park is nice for him. He’s very simple when it comes to outings. The most he’d do is an amusement park (if he got money lol)
Xavier — he loves book dates (nerd) so going to a cafe that has books would be great for him. Amusement parks are a close second cuz he likes roller coasters and the deserts there :)
Yuta — those outdoor theaters you watch from the car is something he likes. It’s just weirdly romantic to him actually. Second would be taking a walk through the park and taking pictures of the sunset

[TRANS] IU ‘Flower Bookmark 2’ Album Introduction and Song Introductions
ALBUM INTRODUCTION
A pristine and beautiful trail of memories that do not fade over time
IU’s second remake album [Flower Bookmark 2]
A book that I took and dusted off from an old library. As I turn the pages one by one, there are times when I find old four-leaf clovers or flower petals that are inserted like bookmarks. It’s a pristine and beautiful trace of a gift that contains someone's sincerity long ago. Along with it comes the memorable pieces of writing that are underlined on each page. This 'Flower Bookmark' may be one of the symbols of youth culture that show the romance and sentiments of the past analog generation which are slowly being forgotten these days.
IU's second remake album, [Flower Bookmark 2], is an extension of the remake album [Flower Bookmark] which was released in 2014 and received excellent reviews from the public and critics. This is a special mini album which reflects both the analog emotions contained in the original songs and the unique lyricism of ‘IU’. Like the previous [Flower Bookmark] album, IU herself selected music from previous generations which are like “flower bookmarks” that she had always cherished and collaborated with musicians of a wide range of generations and genres, including Jeong Jae-il, Ko Tae-young, Hong So-jin, Kang Yi-chae, Jukjae, Lim Hyun-je (Hyukoh), Kim Sung-mo and Jung Sung-ha, to make more detailed efforts than ever to add IU's color on top of the original songs’ unique sentiments.
[Flower Bookmark 2] uses IU’s pure tone to reinterpret songs of the past that transcend generations, in the hopes to revive pristine and beautiful moments that do not fade over time, connecting generations after generations, providing deep empathy and resonance in them and becoming a gift of memories as a ‘flower bookmark’.
SONG INTRODUCTIONS
01. 가을 아침 (Autumn morning)
Lyrics by Lee Byung-woo
Composed by Lee Byung-woo
Arranged by Jung Sung-ha
Originally sung by Yang Hee-eun
“This song is included in [Yang Hee-eun 1991], an album commemorating the 20th anniversary of ‘Morning Dew’. Yang Hee-eun sunbaenim shared with me that it was an album that she finished recording 9 songs in a day together with Director Lee Byung-woo, who was studying in Vienna at the time, while she was in New York. I listened to this album a lot because I respect them musically and could sense the refreshing vibes of the two of them when they were young, so this is my favorite song from that album. Even though the song is simple in its structure, the guitar performance, voice and lyrics are perfectly combined, making it as beautiful as the title, autumn morning.”
02. 비밀의 화원 (Secret Garden)
Lyrics by Lee Sang-eun
Composed by Lee Sang-eun
Arranged by Echae Kang
Originally sung by Lee Sang-eun
“These are my favorite lyrics from [Flower Bookmark 2]. I like Lee Sang-eun sunbaenim’s simple sentences that are filled with warmth. In particular, I think the lyrics that switch freely between the perspectives of ‘just me’, then as an ‘adult’ and as a ‘person who falls in love’ are really cool.
I could relate to the lyrics which go, ‘Forget what happened yesterday / Everyone makes slight mistakes’ and they gave me comfort.”
03. 잠 못 드는 밤 비는 내리고 (Sleepless rainy night)
Lyrics by Kim Chang-hwan, Park Gwang-hyun / Composed by Kim Chang-hwan, Park Gwang-hyun / Arranged by Hong So-jin, Jukjae / Originally sung by Kim Gun-mo
“This is a song that I really wanted to remake someday. I was in a hurry to do it first before anyone else did, so I even considered putting just this one song as a remake on my 4th full-length album [Palette] which was released last spring, that’s how ambitious the song made me. I heard about Kim Gun-mo sunbaenim’s vocal range and was prepared to some extent, but I was surprised several times throughout the recording, saying, ‘Oh, I can’t believe this’. I'm cautiously predicting that it will be the song that has the most fanatics (Note: people going crazy over) in [Flower Bookmark 2] ☆”
04. 젯밤 이야기 (Last night story)
Lyrics by Park Gun-ho
Composed by Lee Ho-jun
Arranged by Im Hyun-je (Hyukoh) , Kim Sung-mo
Originally sung by Sobangcha (Fire Truck)
“This was a song that was so famous and well-loved that I felt a lot of pressure to remake, but I courageously did so because it was also such an attractive song to that extent.
From the chord progression to the story in the lyrics and to the main riff (Note: a short repeated sequence of notes or chords to make a song catchy), it is a song that I’m in awe whenever I listen to it because it is perfectly balanced and solid and this is the song I worked on the most happily in this album.”
05. 개여울 (By the stream)
Lyrics by Kim So-wol
Composed by Lee Hee-mok
Arranged by Jung Jae-il
Originally sung by Jung Mi-jo
“This is a song that so many seniors have done remakes of. Among the various versions of ‘By the Stream’, I took reference from the version of this song in Jeong Mi-jo sunbaenim's 2016 album [37 Years] the most. In no other song is there a person that is as hateful and irresponsible as the one who leaves in the lyrics. As it's a song about yearning for such a person, the ‘deep sorrow’ and ‘desperate resentment’ enter your heart as they are, without any defense or embellishments.
The ‘By the stream’ that (Kim Jeong-hee) sunbaenim first sang and the recent ‘By the stream’ sung decades later come across as distinctly different from the emotions to the stories in their voices. If given the chance, I want to sing this song again after a long time.”
06. 매일 그대와 (Everyday with you)
Lyrics by Choi Sung-won
Composed by Choi Sung-won
Arranged by Go Tae-young
Originally sung by A Wild Chamomile
“I think there’s no need for a long explanation for this song. Everyday with you is the best!”
Translated by IUteamstarcandy

✧˖*°࿐ good things come with age ( w/ @lgcjaekyung )
whether or not she was truly enjoying was still up for debate really. as much as she wanted to convince herself that it's the cameras and the need for screen time, a part of her — though small and quiet, wonders if there is joy in the simple things. she had spent most of her time convincing herself otherwise because there is no way she's going to enjoy life here, right? maybe if she keeps herself busy instead of mulling over what she likes, she'd be less stressed. their activities commence and being an expert in distracting herself, she finds the most trivial of details to obsesses over.
if there was anyone who would make such a big a deal about the criteria for the team's division, trust the annoying voice inside davika's pretty little head. there was no point in nitpicking, but it was the best solution to her previous predicament. and it is working, because the stream of reasons that prove the joy is not real comes. this is not the place she'd ever consider spending her weekends at. and when she thinks of variety shows, the first thing that comes to mind are those in well put-together studios, and not so much activities in rural areas. and certainly not being called old. she is not that old.
it wasn't just that annoying little voice she had to appease, because somewhere in their group is park jaekyung who will probably have a field day. it can't just be davika who thinks this way, if she knew her friend well enough, that annoying thought would make her laugh. it's not a big deal. she tells herself over and over, and over. it didn't have to be if she didn't make it out to be, right? jaekyung probably doesn't think it anyway, there are cameras everywhere. maybe if she didn't bring it up the younger girl wouldn't — great, she thinks so too. it was annoying and amusing at the same time, if she thought about it. but now that jaekyung's in on it, it could be a long day. "we are not talking about it, i am not that old, jae."

Your video review of the glory is so good and i like how you review it. I tired with some people doesn't bother to give actual criticism just ranting how they dissapointed doesn't have violent toward the perpetrator when the point it's made it clear from the start moon dong eun revenge is not involving psyhical violence
Let's start first with park yeon jin her downfall she's becoming the suspect of the murder son myeong oh, her husband divorced her, her daughter ashamed to be related to her, her mother in law hated her after she find out she's cheating from her husband, her own mother abandon her, her so called friend abandon her, she's in prison and it's her turn now being bullied by her prisonmate
Isn't that satisfying to see her downfall
Lee sa-ra her parent are being exposed for their crime then park yeon jin use media by showing lee sa-ra crime so in order to keep her from trouble, her video of masturbating are revealed to the internet, now she's being arrested for stabbing someone in the neck. Even if she didn't get into prison after her video being revealed everyone will remember as her the daughter of pastor who drug addict and love to masturbate in the church
Choi Hye Jeong she lost her voice and honestly i'm sure there some people who gonna mock her misery and some might pity her misery. Considering her parent only own a laundry store , no money, no rich boyfriend or husband just a simple pathetic woman
Jeon Jae Jun if he wasn't dead he downfall still worked. No one gonna see him as a threat they see this as opportunity to taking advantage of him, mock him, all it's left to him it's just rich loser who become blind
Son Myeon Oh what a pathetic man you end up being the one who first to die. Just because you work with rich people doesn't they like you
Like these is much more satisfying than seeing being murder brutally
youtube
This is the video they’re talking about by the way and yes 🤭 the glory was so good, villaness stories like this are the best 💗💗

Mafia Member j.jh SERIES
Previous / Next
Mafia Member pt. 11
Wc: 1.2k Warnings: Relationship pain Genre: Fluff, angst
Chenle P.O.V
It was the next day and we were sitting in our room with Y/n and just told her about yesterday. "How about we spy on something first and collect more evidence? Chenle, we could just play nice and act like best friends." Jisung suggested.
Jaehyun P.O.V
We're going shopping today and Y/n and me decided on a simple couple outfit. Jisung, Chenle, Y/n and me were walking through the shops together. Rosé was with Johnny as we wanted to buy our own stuff. Jisung and Chenle ran and jumped in front of us like little kids while Y/n and me walked behind them, slowly and calmly. But then I stopped because I saw two necklaces that I thought were very pretty for her and me. As soon as we got to the car, I went to get the really necklaces. "I'll be right back, I forgot something." So I quickly ran back to the store and bought the necklaces. As I got back into the car, I noticed that Rosé has now dyed her hair red.
When we got home, it was already 6 p.m. Y/n and I, we went straight to our room. "Y/n, do you want to go on a date tomorrow?" "Sure, I'd love to! But for now I'm going to take a shower, since we've been outside all day." "Can I come with you?" "No?"
The next day we woke up, because of the ringing alarm I had set yesterday, for our date. We spent a few hours on arcade an now that we were walking through the park, I remembered I brought the necklaces with me. "Y/n, I got something for you or more like for us. We've been dating for a few months now, but I haven't been able to give you anything yet. I want to change that now." I took the box out of my pocket and opened it. "What?! But you shouldn't have done that." "What do you think?" "I love them. They are beautiful!" "I'm glad you like them." "No, I love them. Thank you Jae."
It's been 1 week since the date with my boyfriend, Jaehyun. The Dreamies, Rosé and me just had to guide WayV and 127 through their mission. Jaehyun was not there as he was injured in a mission 2 days ago and is now resting in bed. "I just have to go to the toilet, I'll be right back." Rosé said, leaving the room. She has been on the toilet for quite a while now and I slowly had to go to the toilet. So I headed towards our room as we had our own bathroom which was right next to our room. I opened the door to the room and my heart stopped. They. Were. Kissing. While she was sitting on his legs and he didn't even stop her. "What in the hell are you doing?!"
He turned his head towards me, who was still standing in the door frame and his eyes widened before pushing Rosé away. "Y/n! Let me -!" "Let you what? Explain?!" I interrupted him, "Your explanation doesn't matter because I know it's going to be a simple lie. Why are you doing this Jaehyun?! Did the necklace mean anything to you?! Did you give it to me , just so I don't get what's actually going on here?!" "No, Y/n, let me explain!" "No need to explain it… We're over!"
She ran out of the room and left me alone with the girl. "See what you just did?! Get out! NOW!!" However, she just stood there scared and didn't move. "I'm sorry, please…" "You're older than me, but you act like you're younger than Jisung. And now get out of my room before I CHOKE YOU TO DEATH!" With that, she walked out of the room and I thought about what had happened in the past few minutes. It was like that, the door opened and Rosé walked in. "Hi Rosé, what's up?" I greated her, with a plain smile on my lips. She didn't say anything and just walked up to me, sitting down next to me on the bed. "I've been wanting to do this for a littlw while now." Before I knew it, her lips were on mine and she was sitting on my legs. I tried to push her off me, but I was too weak with my injured arms and had no choice but to give up. And suddenly I heard Y/n voice yelling at us.
Y/n P.O.V
I ran back to the dreamies, trying to hold back my tears, which didn't quite work out. "What happend, why ar you crying Y/n?"
You burst into tears and told the Dreamies what had happened. The mission ended and WayV and 127 were on their way back home. Before Chenle could storm out of the room and do god knows what to Jaehyun, Renjun came and grabbed Chenle. "Guys, please promise not to tell anyone about this." "Why?" Jaemin asked, raising his eyebrow. "Because I simply don't want to start a drama with the others." "Okay, we won't tell anything. Now go and rest in Chenle's and Jisung's room because I don't think you want to share a room with Jaehyun." Jeno commanded and so Jisung, Chenle and you left the room.
I haven't left the room for days now and didn't let anyone in, except for Chenle and Jisung of course. I didn't go downstairs to eat either. I just wanted to be alone as much as I could. Especially since I still couldn't believe what had happened a few days ago. I was starving, but I didn't have the courage to look into Jaehyun's or the other's eyes.
Chenle P.O.V
"Dreamies, do you know something we don't know yet? Why are you so distant towards Jaehyun?" Taeyong asked, which meant that Jaehyun probably told him we were keeping a distance. "It's nothing." Jeno just let it off. "If it was nothing, Y/n wouldn't always be in Chenle and Jisung's room and you guys wouldn't always be so distant with Jaehyun." Winwin spoke the truth and then Rosé said, "Maybe she's hiding sth-" But Haechan cut her off by saying, "Shut up, we don't even need to hear your words." "Hey! Why are you so mean to rosé all of a sudden?" Johnny asked, showing how upset he is. "Like we said, it's nothing. Now stop asking us." Jaemin commanded. And then Renjun said, "You know what? I just lost my appetite. I'm in my room." He got up from his chair and went into the pantry to look for some snacks. "Yeah, me too." I said, and so Renjun and me, followed by the other Dreamies, went to our room. We then gave her the snacks, which she took and immediately opened.
Taeyong P.O.V
I was really concerned and worried by now. What has happend?! I remember sitting at the table for breakfast with everyone, except for Y/n. I told Chenle to look for her, but he came back downsatirs, minutes later, without Y/n. "She said she… Ah! She wanted to finish a drama or something, she's eating after us." Chenle reported. "Okay, I don't care right now, I'll just go get her now." So I went to Chenle and Jisung's room as I was informed that she had stayed at Chenle's and Jisung's. However, when I tried to open the door, it was locked.

My Lovely Liar (2023)
This drama was soo good, right up until it wasn't...
Sometimes a great drama runs out of energy right at the finish line. And it's more disappointing than a drama that just plods along the whole way.
What Worked
The premise is simple and amazing: Sol-Hui has a gift / curse that she can always tell when someone lies. It's made her lots of money and no friends. Suddenly, this reclusive neighbor with a mysterious past moves in and everything changes.
At its best, the show was funny and thrilling and cute and romantic, and I loved the first 11-12 episodes.
What Didn't Work
Then they took us on a small town murder mystery, and dragged the story around without advancing the plot, and the big reveal was (*spoilers**spoilers**spoilers*) the closeted gay producer accidentally (?) did the murder and got away with it while accidentally (??) framing his best friend / secret love interest (*end spoilers*). At least the made him feel sorry for what he did, but really it should have been (*spoiler*) the father (*spoiler*) in my opinion. That man deserved to go to jail in any case.
The Performances
Kim So-hyun as ("Liar Hunter") Mok Sol-hui. Amazing to watch. She knew when to lean into the campy parts, and when to be serious, but mostly she knew how to make the premise (which could be ridiculous at times) completely believable.
Hwang Min-hyun as ("Naive Composer") Kim Do-ha. I got frustrated with the choices they had him make. He was too naive and probably should have been killed multiple times, and yet they just let him go on being oblivious. That was mostly on the writers, but still it made me want to throw things. You can't trust crazy guys with knives who want to murder you! You can't trust cops! You really can't trust cops that used to date your current girlfriend! Not even once!! On the other hand, his chemistry with Kim So-hyun was very good.
Seo Ji-hoon as ("Mr. Policeman") Lee Kang-min. On a different kind of show, this guy would have been a secondary villain. Instead he was the second male lead with a sad backstory. He had a few good moments, but the writing made him very vanilla, and Seo Ji-hoon didn't really add anything to him.
Lee Si-woo as ("Crazy Ex-pop star") Syaon. I loved to hate her through most of this, which shows that Lee Si-woo did a good job with the material. It was like a Makjang pop-princess wandered in from another show and started messing with the plot and I enjoyed that. Then they had to clean up her act for the obligatory happy ending, and she was less interesting.
Yoon Ji-on as ("Mr. CEO") Cho Deuk-chan. This was the worst case of character assassination in favor of a lame mystery that I've seen in awhile. The actor made it kind of work, but this was just a poor writing decision. It may have been okay, if they'd let us know the character better and peeled back the layers the way they did with Choi Eom-ji, but it would definitely have changed the tone of the show. They could have had a light hearted show, or they could have had a good mystery, but these writers at least weren't able to do both.
Nam Hyun-woo as ("The worst little bro") Cho Jae-chan. I really despised this guy throughout most of the show (so a good acting job, really), then they turned him into a patsy in service of the stupid mystery and toned the character down a bit, and it just made him less interesting. Decent performance with what he was given.
Park Kyung-hye as Cassandra. It's always great seeing Park Kyung-hye at work, and I loved the dynamic between her character and the rest of the Liar Hunter gang. They could have ditched some of the other b-plots and given us more with her and I would have been happy, but I still liked what I got.
Jin Kyung as ("The Worst Mother") Cha Hyang-suk. Again, another Makjang character let loose on an unsuspecting population, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Well until they decided to try and fix her messy relationship with Sol-hui's father, but that was still kind of okay.
Seo Jeong-yeon as ("Bad Politician Mother") Jung Yeon-mi. I liked how terrible this character was. I just wish they'd had the courage to let her be terrible. I feel like there was this need to undercut her ambitious nature that they wouldn't have bothered to do with a similar male character, and that was frustrating, but the performance was still pretty good overall.
Song Ji-hyun as ("Crazy Dead Girlfriend") Choi Eom-ji. I liked how complex they made her. One of the strong points for the show was how this young woman (and her death) touched different characters lives both good and bad. There was something about her arc at the end of the show that left a bad taste, but the performance overall was good.
Kwon Dong-ho as ("Walking Assault Case") Choi Eom-ho. This was another example of a Makjang character let loose, but I think they needed to reign him in just a little bit. Just did way too much assault, fraud, and general criminal behavior without any consequences and it frustrated me.
Seo Hyun-chul as ("Real Folk Blues") Jang Joong-gyu. Honorable mention to the guy that ran the jazz club, just because he was fun to watch and I really liked his interactions with the other characters.
The Other Village People. I kind of didn't care about the other business owners in Yonso-dong. Sometimes it was amusing, but mostly it was just okay. It was kind of fun watching the bakery owner dump flour all over the shifty real-estate people's office.
Everyone else. The bodyguard was fun at times, but overall not that interesting. The subplot with the up and coming wanna-be pop stars was lame. The stuff with the terrible dance coach who went after Syaon was frustrating and a little lame. Also, the cop stuff was kind of cute, but I still don't like cops. At least the crooked cop that got paid off by Bad Politician Mom was somewhat realistic. Mostly with the apathy, low pay, and general lack of accountability.
TL; DR:
Overall a good show that kind of limped into the finish line. The cute romantic stuff was very cute, the lie detector hijinks were very amusing, and the trauma bonding over terrible parents was also fun to watch. Just wish they'd made a few different choices.

Christopher was raised in a devoutly catholic household, and religion has pretty much shaped his entire life. He went to catholic school, did bible camp most summers, and attended church services with his parents at least once a week for the entirety of his childhood.
Growing up, he was very close with his mom and dad. It was just the three of them, and they were like the musketeers - there was a lot of love in the house, but that love became fraught as Christopher got older and started keeping secrets from them.
He couldn’t tell his parents about the terrifying things he felt; about his burgeoning crush on a boy in his class that nearly tore him in half with guilt and longing. It didn’t fit with the church’s teachings, and he wanted to be a good son - if that meant carving pieces of himself away to preserve that image, that’s what he would do.
It was practically a given that Christopher would be a doctor some day. Helping people was about the highest calling he could think of, and between his excellent grades and copious extra curriculars, he more than earned his place at Harvard. His parents were worried how their son would fair at a secular college so far from home, but they were proud of what their son had achieved, and trusted him to make good choices.
He had a very active social life at college, but he never dated, insisting he was too busy to think about it. This was largely to protect himself, and to save him from outright lying to his parents when he came home for the holidays.
After working himself to the bone and finally completing his residency, Christopher was left to his own devices. Instead of returning to Washington as was expected, he opted to move out to New Haven, to a small town by the name of Grimrose. The town had need of a doctor, and on doing a little research into local history, he realised his mother had been born there - back when the place was called Mary’s Cove.
Having lived in Grimrose for a year now, he’s finally starting to feel a sense of something like home. He likes his neighbours, and is ever-friendly and helpful, but sometimes it feels as though there’s a sheet of glass separating him from everybody else. Nobody really knows him, not deep down, where it actually counts. He’s just a nice man, keeping everyone at arm’s length.
other things.
since moving to grimrose, christopher has started organising regular five-a-side soccer games, and can usually be found playing in the park every other sunday afternoon. he’s a midfielder, and supports chelsea football club.
he drives to the neighbouring town to attend church every sunday morning.
he’s big on volunteer work, and rarely says ‘no’ if someone calls on him to donate his time. if there’s soup that needs ladling, a community garden that needs digging, or clothes that need sorting, you can count on christopher to be there.
he loves to cook, but can’t bake worth a damn.
in an ideal universe, he’d have a dog - but he hasn’t got time to take care of one.
if he ever left general practice, he’d go into paediatrics. he loves kids, and keeps a selection of lollypops, stickers, and fun band-aids in his desk at work. one wall of his office is devoted to pictures his young patients have made him over the years.
like many doctors, he’s terrible at being sick. he simply refuses to slow down.
