well she knows English, both standard and AAVE, but she's also picked up a conversational amount of Spanish from her surroundings and Callan, and she knows just enough French to vaguely understand what Blake's on about if he decides to briefly forsake English. She also ends up learning ASL later for plot reasons 👍👍

24. do they have any creative hobbies? (art, writing, music, etc)

hmmm I think gifts might make her slightly wary, but I'm unsure. She would definitely be suspicious of the motives of unexpected gifts. As for giving, it isn't her favorite! She would rather do an activity with a person than give them a gift, I think

Maybe let's assume he's better at dressing other's up than himself. I think that if the PTM future, Jade enjoys going out with Yuu to pick out cute outfits. If you couldn't tell from the fantasies he has in the fic, he loooooves the idea of dressing Yuu up in suggestive outfits and lingere. I think he'd get a kick out of shopping with them to pick out outfits.

He likes delicate, lacy items. Ones that he has to be careful with lest he tears them up in the excitement that comes with seeing the love of his life all dressed up for him. But he's conflicted.

On one hand, he loves being surprised by the outfits you come up with for him. It doesn't matter how flustered you get seeing his pleased expression or hearing his thoughts go a mile a minute praising you, he loves it. But there's something delicious about being out in public and doing the same thing in the dressing room of the store. You can't tell him off like at home, otherwise everyone else will look at you like you're crazy. But you swear, Jade is intentionally thinking about grabbing you, facing you in front of the mirror, and just taking you right there and then.

"Cafe Cozy is open for business!

Located at Ramshackle dorm, the magicless prefect has managed to find their place on campus, cooking meals from their own homeworld that many consider to be 'comfort foods'. While the prices are low, rest guaranteed that the memories and good vibes you will get from going here are anything but! Don't believe me? Head over there for yourself, open from-"

Azul's fingers tightened around the edges of the school newspaper, causing a small rip to appear in the middle of it. The sound of ripping annoyed him even further, which only made the octomer shred the rest of the paper in half. He stared at the newpaper for a moment before he gave in to his urges, rip-rip-ripping the paper until nothing more than strips of unreadable words remained.

Running a hand through his hair and taking a slow breath to calm himself, Azul glared at the pile of shredded paper, pondering on what he should do next.

The Mostro Lounge's sales had been a bit low this week. And now he knew why. The Prefect had opened up their own business- if such a lowly little establishment ran in a run-down building could be called as such- and was selling food at low prices to the students. Although his business-savy brain knew that this little endeavor wouldn't last very long if Y/N kept their prices so low, the part of his brain that knew the prefect knew that they could be quite...persuasive towards the other students. Charming, even. Azul didn't doubt that what Y/N had lost in buying products and selling meals for cheap, they had made up for it in tips.

Because no one could resist their charm. Not even Azul, though he was loathe to admit it.

Azul took off his glasses for a moment, closing his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose. What to do, what to do? If this kept up, Mostro Lounge's sales would drop exponentially, and so to would Azul's level of power and "respect" in the school.

So what to do?

After putting his glasses back on, his eyes landed on one of the bits of paper, one that used to be a photo of the Prefect and the Student reporter for the newspaper, standing in front of this so-called "Cafe Cozy". The Prefect's perfect smile seemed to follow him everywhere...

Azul grabbed the paper and tucked it into the pocket of his jacket, standing up quickly.

"And where do you think you're going, dear Azul?" Jade hummed as Azul walked out of the office, stepping briskly through the hall of the Lounge.

"Cafe," was all Azul could grunt, the heels of his shoes making dull thudding sounds on the carpet as he went for the exit of the building, to the mirror that led to campus. Jade just smiled after Azul with a curious look in his eyes, a knowing but concerned expression.

Floyd hopped over, seeing his brother pause in his cleaning duties "Slackin' off, Jade?"

"Nothing of the sort, Floyd," Jade replied cooly, resuming his tasks once more "Just watching Azul walk out...did you see the newspaper today, by chance?"

"You think I read that trash? It's bo-ooooring!"

"Hmm. The Prefect of Ramshackle opened up a Cafe. I assume that Azul read the story, and that he's not...quite enthralled about it." Jade tilted his head, glancing back towards the door that Azul had walked out of "That Prefect makes him act rather odd, don't you think?"

"It's 'cause he's in looooove," Floyd hummed in a sing-song voice, grabbing a broom propped up on the wall, dancing with it in a mocking attempt at romance "I like it- if I mention them around Azul, he'll completely forget he was chewin' me out and he'll leave me alone!"

"Of course you would Floyd," Jade chuckled.

In the time it took to walk to Ramshackle, Azul prissed up his appearance, making sure his hair wasn't sticking out from under his hat at odd angles, straightening his hat itself, brushing off any lint from his clothes, and straightening out his glasses. If anyone else were to see him, they would assume that Azul was on his way to an important event. Which he was, if only to him.

Stepping through the doors of the rusted gate (which was now almost constantly ajar to allow students to pass through, Azul knew, since the gate was difficult for the Prefect to open by themselves), Azul made his way up the cracked walkway, up to the front door of Ramshackle House.

Unsurprisingly, on the door hung a wooden sign that read "Cafe Cozy! Step inside and enjoy yourself!" Azul took a spare moment to examine the sign itself. The words appeared to be burned into the wood by an expert at their craft, curlicued to the point of looking fancy, yet simple. Two opposites meeting in the middle.

He cursed himself for not having thought of that idea himself, and put a gloved hand on the door, pushing it open once he turned the doorknob.

The inside of Ramshackle looked...pretty normal. Except for the slight increase in furniture. There were extra chairs and tables, another couch....all were mismatched, which only added to the dorm's charm. A few students from Savanaclaw sat on one of the couches, sipping from mugs and laughing as they shared a plate of something that looked like an omlette, with more bits and pieces in it.

Azul frowned at the scene and made his way to the kitchen of the dorm, intent on finding the Prefect themselves. "Hey, you can't be back here!" A voice chirped as soon as the octomer stepped into the messy kitchen. Azul looked down to see Grim with a little apron on, looking mildly annoyed "Get out of here, Octopus! No customers allowed in the kitchen! Go sit down and I'll take your order!"

"I'm looking for Y/N." Azul said, not offering an explanation as to why. He narrowed his eyes as he stared down at the direbeast, folding his arms across his chest.

"They're not-" Grim started, only to be interrupted by Y/N themselves coming up to Azul's side.

"Oh, Azul! What are you doing here? You want to try some waffles?" The Prefect offered, with that perfect smile they always seemed to have.

Azul hated the effect they had on him. He hated the way he would freeze up at the start of every conversation, how he would be tied up in what they said and how they said it. He hated how much he enjoyed listening to their voice, how much his mind focused on the way the Prefect's clothes always seemed to fit them just right, despite being hand-me-down's from other students or thrift store finds. Sevens, he hated them. But only in a way a love-struck fool could hate the target of their affections.

"Prefect!" Azul said once he pushed all of the thoughts out of his mind and focused on the reason he was here. He held his hands up in a friendly gesture, ignoring Grim's complaints as the cat stormed off back into the living room "As much as I'd love to enjoy some of your food, I'm afraid I'm here for different reasons!"

"Oh!" Y/N said, glancing side to side before jerking their head to the island in the middle of the kitchen, sitting down on one of the stools with their plate of waffles "Alright, then. Why don't you come sit down? What did you need to talk about?"

Azul grimaced slightly as he grabbed a paper towel and wiped off some crumbs from the stool before he sat down, forcing his mind to think of anything but the way the Prefect's lips parted ever-so-slightly as they waited for him to speak.

"I'm going to be honest with you, Prefect," He began, taking a small breath "I'm not quite sure how long you want to keep this business of yours afloat, but I doubt it'll be for too much longer. How much do you spend on ingredients versus how much you receive from your customers?"

"Oh, we actually make a lot on tips-" Y/N started, making Azul wince inwardly. Of course he was right about the tips.

"But how much longer can you rely on the kindness of others, dear Y/N, hmm?" He questioned "How much longer until the new-ness of this...cozy....little place wears off and they simply see it as another cafeteria. Do you think the students here tip the cafeteria workers that serve their slop day in and day out?"

The Prefect licked their lips (fortunately, they didn't notice Azul looking the other way and hiding the blush on his cheeks with a hand) and took a bite of their food, taking their time before they responded "Mm, I guess you're right. But we're based on being nice to our customers and giving them a good time. When all is said and done and the tips stop being so great, we can always offer meals in exchange for work to be done on Ramshackle. After all, it costs less to make this food than it does for repairs- and some of the students here can fix things more easy and problem-free than me and Grim could." But there was still a shadow of a doubt on their face- exactly what Azul had been counting on "What do you care, anyway?"

"Because we're friends, of course!" He said with a grand smile, his chest hurting at the mention of being just friends. Maybe one day he'd be able to call them whatever he wanted...but not today "And I came to offer you a solution."

"Oh-ho," They chuckled "I hope you didn't bring your pen and a contract with you. I've already learned my lesson on that front."

Slipping his pen back into his jacket's pocket before they could notice, Azul bit down his witty retort "Oh, me...? I would...never. I just want to ask if you'd like to officially put your cafe as an extension of my Lounge- and I know what you're thinking," Azul pitched his voice to mimic Y/N "Oh, if I allow Azul to have this cafe as part of Mostro Lounge, then it won't be mine anymore!"

"Yeah, that's exactly what I'm thinking," Y/N rolled their eyes with a small smile.

"Well, then, good news- you'd still retain ownership of this place. I would provide you with more furniture and ingredients- as well as an extra chef, if you need it...surely it gets difficult for you to cook all these meals yourself, right? I would only ask in return for 45 percent of your profits." Azul tilted his head side to side "Plus, you would even benefit from my deal with Crowley- altogether, you'd be paying 50 percent of your profits to us, to cover our buying you supplies as well as the Headmage's approval. I doubt he's too happy about you running a business without him receiving anything, hmm? Plus, with my assistance, you'd be getting even more money with your profits!"

Y/N thought about it "So....I'd be letting you take control of it?"

"No, no, of course not! I would still let you retain the creative aspect of this place and all! You would just think of me as...your business partner." Azul grinned, holding out a hand "Is it a deal, then, partner?"

But the Prefect, having been through Azul's shtick before, raised a brow "Let me think about it, alright...partner?" putting emphasis on the last word, almost popping the p sound.

Azul, biting the inside of his cheek so harshly that he began to taste his own blood, giggled in response like a giddy schoolgirl. While his response was undignified, and he thoroughly chastised himself, he couldn't deny the giddy feeling that rushed through his veins at hearing the Prefect call him their partner, even if the word was taken out of context.

"M'kay," he managed through gritted teeth, still grinning like a fool.

Do you think maybe a large part also of why Chilchuck's wife left him was because of how much he changed after becoming an adventurer? He seemed naive and spirited once, but became more jaded the more dungeon crawling he did. I like to think with the new image of his wife that Flertom and Puckpatti's cheerful demeanor came from how Chilchuck was once as a child. But she accepted that people change. And yet that night, meeting how he is with his coworkers, reminds her of how he used to be.

Yes I do! I go into it in my masterpost on Chilchuck’s family, though I made it before we got his wife’s face reveal. If you want to see my thoughts on what things might have pushed her to leave I recommend you go to the ‘Possible strains on the marriage’ section!

Ooh I like your thoughts! Flertom and Puckpatti inheriting good cheer from him would be soo cute (it’d also be funny with how he’s like "Meijack, my daughter most like me" meanwhile the ones with the opposite of her personality got it from him. Sike Meijack’s like her mom the most lmao), but for Puckpatti at least I’m skeptical.

Chilchuck likes good cheer out of work sure, but he dislikes optimism/carefreeness. It makes him worry on if they can take care of themselves or if they’ll be able to make it (in part due to how he was himself tricked by parties in the past), so I’ve theorized that Puckpatti’s carefree demeanor is actually an effect of Chilchuck working out of home more and more as the years go by, and thus having the least of an influence on his youngest child, leaving his wife to do most of the raising and teaching lessons.

I don’t know what to make of his wife’s portrait yet, she does seem pretty jaded herself, or like she has a lot on her mind. Since it’s supposedly set into the present of canon, it could just be that she’s still affected and upset by having left him… Or maybe that’s just how she is! Maybe Chilchuck rubbed off on her too, or maybe she grew that way more over the years by herself, or maybe she’s always been a little gloomy/ice queen looking, no clue! I don’t think trying to take away a lot of her personality from just the portrait would be effective or wise, but now I do think she’s the more reserved and serious type.

"Yet that night, meeting how he is with his coworkers, reminds her of how he used to be" Asker I looooove this, you’re so right!! That could definitely be part of it, I hadn’t seen that angle. He’s very cheerful and open when sharing drinks with people as we see, so it’s possible she’s like "Wow, he’s having such a good time here with his coworkers. Why isn’t he usually like that with me?" plus just being hit with a ton of bricks of realization that that part of him was why she loved him, but he’s changed so much so maybe they should cut their losses and part away. And especially since they were childhood friends, too! 20 years sure do change a man. Chilchuck does say she fell into a bad mood after the outing on the way back home but didn’t know why, so there’s a lot of thoughts and feelings we can assign to her. Again, I encourage you to read my big post on it if it interests you, I give many different interpretations and whatnot~!

Hello!! Hope I'm not bothering you, I'm just dropping by because I've finally finished the 2.3 quest, and I have so many thoughts about Jade

While I'm not a 100% fan of her design, for some reason I feel like Hoyo has nailed her facial expression, and gave her an eye shape that really allows her to switch from once expression to another, and I looooove it. One moment she looks gentle, and the other she looks cold and threatening. Plus the hat is such a good design choice, and all the shots of one of her eyes being hidden by her hat make me insane. There's one specifically where she's glaring at Old Oti and it genuinely gave me chills

Although, I must say, I don't see how her deals can be qualified as fair exchanges. On the contrary, I feel like she asks for things that have a bigger value than the wishes she fulfills. Like the guy who wanted a gift for his crush, I doubt the jewelry is equal to his whole fortune, you know? And even when Firefly came with her wish, Jade refused because she had nothing to give that could equal her wish, meaning that she will always try to gain more that what she gives out.

Anyway that's my main thoughts on her I guess, she's more interesting than I thought she would be, and I'm glad Hoyo stuck to making her manipulative it's great

I guess what I mean by “fair” is not that the deals are monetarily equal, but rather the way Jade approaches them is fair. She makes sure her client knows exactly what they are getting into beforehand, no false pretenses, no hidden conditions, they know exactly what they have to give and what they will receive in return, and Jade makes sure of that.

It’s more fair than what I hoped it would be- ie Jade fulfilling her deals but in a monkey’s paw, be careful what you wish for kinda thing. Like she would ask for someone’s name and they would be like “ok well it’s just my name I can change it,” but then when the deal goes through, every mention of their name and anybody who knew them by it would no longer remember them and they would have to rebuild all those connections and piece their life back together. However in canon Jade would tell them this if it were the case, which is far more fair imo

She’s still evil, because her deals do come with insane costs and she’s taking advantage of and enabling people’s flaws, plus all the other manipulative shit she does in canon, but her deals are fair, even if they are also bad

Also her expressions are perfect you’re correct, and her design has grown on me a lot tbh, I really hope I get her when her banner comes out, fingers crossed 🤞

Ted Lasso 3x7 Thoughts

Having only five episodes of this television show left is…something. I have a lot of feelings about Ted Lasso and this team he’s “borrowing for a while.” 

These thoughts are kind of a jumble!

Common thread: good relationship advice, a dream I’ve been dreaming about since s2 contained so much bad dating advice (or, more importantly, people who didn’t want to give their opinions on relationships because they didn’t want the responsibility of meddling). I’ve been certain that as the characters start to wind their way back to each other, the questions people ask about themselves and each other will get more honest, and the answers they receive in response will be more open, too. It’s actually pretty thrilling to see that happening. It feels like the closest thing to a single string (ba-dum tss!) running throughout this season, and I love it.

I’ve liked the Nate and Jade stuff a lot more than I expected to. Getting to see more of Nate’s family was such a delight, and I love that even if the whole family is kind of navigating around Nate’s dad’s ire, there’s so much love in the house and Nate gets some genuine support. And some good advice: you have to ask for things, and you have to do it with the full awareness that it might not work out. I’m so glad Nate got to see the map his father designed for his mother in all its grandeur. And I’m so glad his own attempt at replicating the grandeur got destroyed by a vehicle, freeing him up to rely on himself simply asking the question. 

It also did my heart good to catch the tail-end of Rebecca recapping Amsterdam for Keeley, and to see Rebecca sharing her fears about Jack. It was really something—she actually shares her concerns straightforwardly, and makes it clear that she isn’t saying Keeley’s new girlfriend is like her abusive ex-husband, but that Keeley has an opportunity to keep her eyes open and respond to what she sees. I also loved that Rebecca makes it clear that she isn’t jealous of Jack and is happy for Keeley, even as she’s also got concerns and of course has experienced some significant lonely moments as a result of Keeley being wrapped up in Jack. I dunno, it all feels realistically complex but also realistically drama-avoidant, and it felt like major growth for Rebecca. And it comes right off of Keeley pointing out the growth Rebecca exhibited in not sleeping with Boat Guy even if she might’ve liked the opportunity to! 

I was also very relieved to get a return to Beard and Ted at the pub! I missed them sitting and drinking their beers together! I did not really buy that Ted thought Jane might be hinting at marriage, but if he was joking, I think he needed to be more joke-y. Alas, I think that line was in there to get them to the pegging conversation, which was in there to get them to the pegging-marriage comparison joke. It admittedly paid off, but I think Phoebe Walsh and team could’ve found a smoother transition to the pegging discussion.

Very into Simi and Sam and very into Sam figuring out his wording and positioning with the racist home secretary on his own, albeit with Simi’s influence. I appreciated his anger and sadness in the locker room so much, and his father being there just in time for Sam to be able to hug him and cry on him was such a balm. I looooove that Ola really leans into the whole thing about visiting dads being allowed to be very awkward and make things uncomfortable, whether talking to the ex or the new love interest. I love that Ola knows about Sam and Rebecca and almost certainly has opinions but was also able to laugh about the whole thing with his son. Because, you know. Everyone is fine. It’s okay. And there are much bigger concerns, like the vandalism of the restaurant. When the team is there helping and Ola sees the sign light up as the first reveal that the restaurant is named for him…ahhhhhhhhh. It all made me wonder if Sam intentionally downplayed some of the presumably-notable London media coverage of the restaurant opening specifically so he could have that surprise moment with his dad. And when the restaurant was damaged, he felt like that moment couldn’t take place the way he wanted, but then it turned into something even better than he could’ve imagined—an opportunity to bring his dad into his community and team (his home in London, all working together to repair the place he created so that Nigerian people missing home could feel a connection to Nigeria!) and cook with Simi and his father.

In keeping with the pattern of trending-up experiences with good pals (and sisters, and best friends) talking about relationships of all sorts, I love that Total Football became a very literal (and very fun to watch) reflection on space and energy and interplay, the relations between people. I LOVED that each of the coaches takes their own role in explaining the what and why of Total Football. I was a little afraid that Ted was passing it off to Beard because he was scared that he didn’t actually understand the tactic well enough, but that wasn’t the case at all—all three primary coaches were fully engaged. And then Trent’s got the spirit, with some absurdly meta commentary! And then Jamie is the one who really cracks the code, which I absolutely adored. (Side note: how adorable was it that they all brought back the signal and flipped him off.) (Side note 2: they really said “we hear a lot of y’all are extremely into this red string of fate thing” and turned it into a dick joke! And Roy didn’t fully understand that this tactic was a one-time-only situation!) 

Speaking of things I absolutely adored, the whole rom-com montage motif throughout, with storefronts opening and flowers and the promise of an early morning…..YES. And I’m forever obsessed with Roy and Jamie being folded into the quaintness of that as, briefly, just two quirky extras giving the neighborhood some flavor. The string that binds jogging Jamie to Roy on his bike! Ahhhh!

I feel like there was more. These episodes contain so much. But I have got to go to sleep, and I feel happy to be able to do that while feeling generally very glad about that entire episode. I can think of a couple characters who should talk to each other more. (More than a couple, in fact!) But I loved the sense of progress and purpose to this episode, and I feel like things this season have generally been really beautifully paced, so for the most part I’m happy.

Kicking it Old School

Alright, so the (American) government being the asshole it is, they got mad that we did the things that we have written into the constitution, namely community organizing and using our right to free speech and assembly to voice decent to the existing genocide occurring in Palestine, opposing the misuse of our tax dollars to fund said genocide, and point out that while they can not be bothered to reach across the aisle on any other issue that would benefit Americans, namely utilizing those billions and in some case TRILLIONS of tax dollars to provide help to struggling people in our country, they could agree to attempt to silence the millions of voices across the nation for their use of a platform that was developed outside of the country because of a hypothetical fear that they manufactured of a foreign nation doing the thing that American made social media platforms (including big t that I'm posting from right now) are already doing. Even though the data is housed locally for American users by an American company. Even though the tenuous "fear" they have is that the parent company of Tiktok, Byte Dance, which is located in China, has no direct control over Tiktok itself, which is based in Singapore, an entirely separate country that the Chinese Government does not have sway over (Just a reminder for Senator Cotton, the ignorant racist who refused to listen to the information provided by the CEO of Tiktok, a Singaporian National).

So the manufactured fear has allowed them to oppose a vast network of community organization, with no real enforcement to be had, which is a not so polite reminder that VPN's exist, and can be used to evade all of this. But regardless, not everyone is going to be able to afford the VPN option, and there should be a free option for community organization. So here we are, coming back to our roots, the OG, the classic, rebirth of the 2010's era, the tumblr blog has returned. I deleted my original tumblr years ago. I'm a public person, to the point that my own home is highly visible, albeit a bit tedious to watch since the one space people can see in to is where I sleep and watch tv. But being that my content was always intended to be humerous, if a bit jaded and dark, I figure now is the time to use my extensive talents and creative skills start doing something that I've wanted to do for years. If this takes off, I might transition to a full time hosted blog, but I'm a fan of grass roots starting points, and truthfully, there's not much more grass roots than tumblr. Additionally, the tools and skills of the trade for podcasting are available to me as well, and I'm not opposed to it, since I already knowledgable in the creation, and I could easily do things with it. LOOOOOVE me some Anime. I don't interact a ton with the fandoms, mostly because there are some super questionable and problematic ideas (ships) floating around the internet. That being the case, I'll mostly talk about the ones I love most, namely One Piece, because I live for the display of leftist rhetoric and dispensation of Justice and Joyboy Wonder that is Luffy and his crew.

-Politics

I'm more than a little comfortable discussing politics. I've been involved as a volunteer lobbyist in the past, and I engage with and regularly review content revolving around national and international politics, and I think it's important to not avoid discussing it. My takes will not always be perfect, but I generally center them around the ideas that people should always come before companies, and people can generally make decisions for themselves regarding self identity and bodily autonomy. Science will never be political to me, and regardless of my personal religious beliefs, science will make the decisions for me regarding health and wellness.

-Tea

I am a lover of all things tea. I have a talent I have developed for a while now, of making home brewed loose leaf tea, and I enjoy sharing that knowledge and information with others. Tea is very much a special interest for me, on par with One Piece and Minecraft. So you will definitely see stuff like tea recipes and resources from me regularly. I have for some time now had a dream of owning my own tea shop, and I will absolutely achieve that some day. And yes, my love of this stems from my love of Uncle Iroh.

-Cats and Animals in General

I have two cats, Shadow, who is pictured in my current PFP, and Poppie, the gremlin boy. I intend to someday have a service dog again, and when that happens, you will be introduced to said dog, but for now, it's me and my demons. I have this desire to have a small plot of land with a few farm animals to watch over, namely a few hens for eggs, maybe a mini-cow or some goats to produce fertilizer, but also I want live in the middle of the woods, so like, who knows how that will shake out. I'm a four seasons kind of person, and northern woods tend to have that. That is for the future to decide, but for now, it's just me and my cats.

-Lifestyle stuff

The category is broad, but includes all kinds of things. Home tech, cooking, discussions on queerness, and life tips and advice. I tend to write some of these from the perspective of me to my past self, telling things I wish I had known then that I know now.

-Music

Less focused on it's discussion, and more on presentation. I have a decently expansive taste, that only really excludes modern pop country, which I view as terrible. That said, old country, such as Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, and the like, are among some of my favorites. That said, I'm also a hiphop head, and I've been to more underground rap shows than any other type of live show. -Mental Health

I'm mentally ill. I have been diagnosed with three separate mental health disorders, as well as ADD, and although I have never been officially tested, I am more than likely on the Autism Spectrum. I have lived a rather colorful life full of interesting choices, and I was not always given the grace I needed to grow. So from time to time, I'll have things to say on mental health. I'm not one to answer questions for others about their own mental health, because I know this is something that needs to be handled by professionals, but I will always do my best to be up front and honest, because I hate the idea that the stigma of mental health problems would prevent someone from living a full life.

rivals-to-lovers with rodimus and characters like rodimus (but mostly just rodimus); being his rival and someone who antagonizes him but at the end of the day you begrudgingly respect him and know he has potential (which is painful bc hes so stupid) and as you fight side by side and save each other and help each other with your internal struggles, the passion between you blossoms into love

old-flames-who-were-evil-together-but-eventually-things-went-sour-but-then-...-you-reconnect with megatron specifically; someone who was an advisor and by his side before the war, a strategist and a major brain behind the formation of the decepticons iconic evil plots, but eventually you start to despise him for turning this thing you cared so much for into something that you neither of you wanted to begin with but both of you are so sullied by your horrible actions theres no repentance for either of you, you fuck off to some planet to escape punishment bc youre not going down like this, idk you reconnect and although you have a lot of bad blood between you theres still relief that megatron is alive and didnt get executed. in the beginning all you wanted was the best for megatron and your planet now you two are unrecognizable compated to the mechs you were before so you take comfort in each other bc who better to console him and stand by his side than someone just as horrible and tainted.

haughty-diva-and-the-person-they-'settled'-for is also a dynamic i love esp for mechs like whirl and swerve and trailcutter who see themselves as undesirable and perhaps even unattractive to others, but anyone could see they have insane chemistry with this hottie. someone who is also probably pretty bad at expressing their feelings and doesnt know how to say they like someone bc theyre used to being hit on not hitting on others.

old mechs paired with a bouncy youthful personality, opposites attract sort of thing. ratchet and magnus (sometimes megs) are my usual go-tos for this dynamic but it could work for others like tarn or kaon. theres a lot of world weary mechs to go around so i like the idea of someone who isnt so jaded paired with this type of personality, i think it can be very cute.

im partial to maternal nurturing type reader inserts, but im not sure which mech is best paired with a personality like that. a soft mommy dom if you will. not submissive but breedable. along with this, a reserved quiet but thoughtful character who is secretly sort of dumb is cute. again not sure who they would bounce off of, but i like to imagine this reader insert takes care of alien plants and doesnt have an easy time interacting with others. a blunt dry humor. more of a comic relief type.

ratbat with someone who is very much a bystander on the nemesis, perhaps a no-name maintenance bot, but one thing leads to another and he relies on this mech to be his henchman and obvs theyre gonna listen to him he's their superior but also they arent Built Different they are very much built to standard code theyre not gonna pick a fight bc even ratbat could wipe the docking bay with them 😔 cannon fodder,,,, ratbat is happy just to have someone who wont fight him on this, so he starts to see them as less of a disposable and more of a nuisance (which IS a step up) i think this sort of dynamic is also cute for starscream with a newbie seeker. someone who will listen to him and polish his heel thrusters if he demands it without grumbling and thats rare to find so he treats them to,,, less shrieking than is usual for him. will not let you die on the battlefield even if he complains that saving you is a waste of his time.

sunstreaker and sideswipe in another rivals to lovers scenario, but i see this less as rivals and more as "hardnosed mech who is unrelenting in their principles really hates these two bullies"; starting out from them being absolute menaces and just awful (as per ush) to developing a soft spot for a mech who is just as stubborn and blunt as they are in their approach and who wont leave either twin to waste away on the battlefield from an injury even if theyre like,,, reeeeally awful to them. what can i say i think the twins would appreciate a show of loyalty and camaraderie even if they pretend they dont need that sort of thing.

optimus and a creepy little con. ive done a fill for a request like this. just optimus having a soft spot for this little weirdo who has too much interest in him.

in the same vein, bumblebee with a cutesy creepy little con. someone who is sort of his opposite? the bumblebee of the decepticons, if bumblebee terrified all his fellow autobots. falls in love with him for saving them or something and now they wont leave him alone. he is reluctant to admit theyre cute bc hes a loyal autobot and they also scare him.

megatron and anyone he can hold like this

im always open to more dynamics and tropes bc its pretty clear how i write, i need a base personality to write the reader insert off of and i dont like to leave it as "they love you and thats the most important aspect of your character" i just dont think being loved is an important trait for a character to have, its an important action for them to perform and for others to perform towards them but its not a good basis for a personality

i also love dynamics that can have a lot of depth and backstory added to them so i get a feel for where the reader has been and why they are the way they are (im not partial to shy types personalities tho bc i like more assertive characters that can move the plot more with their actions/words)

Thought exercise regarding PTM: What if Yuu didn't gain telepathy but some other passive ability? How would Jade approach courting them? Without the benefit of knowing the context of his actions, I feel like he would be in for a long struggle. Not only to get the nerve together to talk to Yuu openly, but also to work to gain their trust after the anemone debacle.

Life is going good! My leg got fucked up this weekend but I also got my first tattoo so yaaaay! But for Jade....

I've said it before and I'll continue to repeat it cause I love the irony of it, but if Yuu didn't have telepathy, Jade would have a much easier time courting them!

The issue with them is that because Yuu can hear all of Jade's 'embarrassing' thoughts, they get flustered and run off, which prevents Jade from generally any attempts to get close to them. If they didn't have it, he'd actually have a much easier time as they'd just be a bit wary over him, but not necessarily push him away.

Oh, but it because they can hear his thoughts, hear how cruel, how silly, how passionate, how complicated Jade is that they give him even more reasons to fall even deeper in love with them. Besides, I'm sure Jade loooooves the challenge of chasing after Yuu, it's very entertaining for him. And as much as Yuu hasn't given much of this impression in the story, they will also come to like it as well~
